So I'm working on a test swatch/color test for a sweater and while working on it I've realized that it would be easier for me to knit if I used circular needles so I check my collection of needles and confirmed that the reason I started using these straight needles was because I don't actually own any size 5 circular needles.
I technically have a gift card for Michael's I could order one, but I don't think they carry what I need from a company I want to buy from (Most of my collection was purchased secondhand, and if I buy new I want to make sure it's something I'll love and use and keep for decades)
#knitting#overall it's looking pretty good and I'm understanding the lace pattern#the major test is the scale since the original pattern is for bust size 35 and that's way too small for me#so I need to know how to adjust the pattern for needle size#my yard weight and the larger bust size#I just remembered I have another vintage sweater in progress so maybe that one is using size 5 circulars#I should probably work on that one too#bleh#I have too many wips#and I need to unpack the rest of my yard stash to see if I have some similar weighted yarn to finish some scrappy socks I have started#see again the comment that I have too many projects at once

It would actually
“What about aspartame? Or Splenda? Is that a brand name? Yeah, it probably is. I should look that one up before putting it in the presentation.”
“Dex,” Fitz starts, hoping Dex’s name recognition reflex is strong enough to get through this whirlwind of thoughts. “We are not doing any more of this. We have enough. It’ll be fine.”
“I wonder what the sweetest one is. Then again, that might not be the best option. Ratios and all that.”
“It would. But, honey, will you please—”
“Yeah, honey would be great!” I was calling you that. I realize my error now.
#don't worry too much about the larger context#they've just got a chem project and they're testing different sugars

just made the math on the amount of money I'll have to spend just on printing the test form for all the students that will be part of my sample in my dissertation and now im going to cry
#i dont have that kind of money to spend#the thing is I dont actually need that many students for my sample#like I need like 600 (which is still more money than I'd like) but schools dont want to just give me a limited number of students#like they say 'if you are going to do your study here just apply the test to all of our students' so that's how I end up with 900+ students#who require 900+ copies of the test form#like that's great in terms of having a much larger sample than needed it's great for the project but it's not great for me bc it requires#so much more money and time than I have#bc that also requires me going to all these schools at least once and multiple days for some of them which means i have to spend money on#mobility too#i really do just want to scream and cry and just not do my thesis at all if only that was a choice#uni#personal

I’ve been working on and off on a little fic for nearly two weeks now(what? It feels longer that that) but I heard some great advice that if you really want to take your craft seriously you’d use the correct professional formatting. In this case, novel format.
And it’s admittedly very strange to look at! But I’m getting used to the format. Double spaced lines used to feel so large, but now it just looks normal. It still tickles me a bit whenever I open the document though.
#shelti rambles#it’s a nice little break from my larger original project#and having ‘play’ writing sessions is actually pretty useful to test things out or try out something new and creative#specific thoughts include: ‘damn that’s a very interesting transitional paragraph’#and also good practice for writing conversations with a large amount of characters#try it out— make sure it’s clear and not confusing without using tags for every line

🌟KIANAMAIART FAQ🌟
FAQ wahoooo!!

GENERAL QUESTIONS
Who are you?
I'm Kiana, I'm a queer, Japanese Jamaican woman, and a Director/Storyboard artist who works in animation. I'm currently at Disney Television Animation.
What are your pronouns?
I usually go by she/her but I don't really mind any pronouns~
Where did you go to school?
California College of the Arts (but I dropped out when I was hired at Disney)
How did you get hired at Disney?
My bosses found me on twitter. They liked my drawing style and asked if I wanted to take a storyboard test. I did, I passed, I got interviewed and moved to LA two weeks later to start storyboarding.
Your work seems familiar. What do I know you from?
I've been on the internet for a long time! It could be a number of things. As maimai97 on dA I had a comic about next gen Pokemon characters called Pokemon 25 Years Later. As kilala97 I had some popular next gen ponies and also had a Steven Universe gemsona named Larimar. I'm also @yamujiburo, known most for drawing Jessie x Delia (hanamusa) a lot. I also work professionally! I've worked as a storyboard artist and director on Disney Channel's Big City Greens, I was a storyboard artist on one of the Steven Universe anti-racism shorts and I was a storyboard artist on Pokemon: Path to the Peak. Most recently I've been on season 6 of Dropout's Game Changer!
What program and brush do you use to draw?
Default brush in Storyboard pro. Photoshop sometimes just for compositing or specific effects.
PPPIDWTBAMG QUESTIONS
What is this project?
This is a project that started off as a silly idea that has since grown into me creating a 10 minute pilot animatic.
What does "pilot animatic" entail?
It means that it's effectively a pilot/episode 1 of a (potential) larger series. It's fully voice acted but is not fully animated. It's an animatic, meaning it will be comprised of storyboards in video form.
When and where can I watch the pilot!?
Now and right here!
youtube
What would this series be rated?
Ideally like PG13/TV14! Or whatever they call it. Definitely more geared to a YA audience. Not completely kiddy but also not what most people would consider adult animation to be
What are you planning to do with the project now that the pilot has released?
Don't know yet! There has been a lot of studio interest and even offers, so I'm in the process of talking with them and seeing if I can find this show a home or if I want to try doing it on my own or if I want to even continue with it at all. I know you guys are curious, but even if I wanted to tell you I couldn't. Just trust that I will make announcements as they come~
You said Aika had teammates, will we see them?
Because of the studio interest and potential for more of this show, there's some stuff I'm still holding close to my chest. This is one of them.
Do the characters have parents??
Zira does! As for Aika and Eclipse, this is something I'm still developing and don't really know myself haha
What are the characters' sexualities?
Don't know right now. Headcanon away!
Is "Star Guardian: Guardian of the Stars" a reference to that vine?
Nope! It's more so a parody for just really long and redundant titles which I love. Similar to the title of this project, which is called "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl"

A concept I've had stuck in my head for a while is an experimental facility where scientists are testing a procedure that makes humans produce and lay eggs. After a lot of trial and error they've got it down pretty well. The test subjects produce around 6-10 eggs a month in line with what used to be their menstrual cycle. The eggs are just a bit bigger than chicken eggs. Not super pleasant to push out but doable without much fuss. The whole project is viewed as a scientific triumph.
But what the news crews and scientific prize judges don't see are all of the poor souls who were in the first few rounds of testing before the procedure was perfected.
Some produce an egg every hour, their bellies filling quickly if they don't spend their whole day pushing them out. In the early stages they hadn't figured out how to standardize egg size so these unlucky subjects go from tiny grape sized eggs to eggs the size of grapefruit with no warning. Some become so fed up and exhausted from constantly birthing that they refuse to push for days despite their stomachs swelling and cramping. Just a day or two and they will appear full term with a human baby. Eventually the pressure will be too much and they will be forced to push. The backed up eggs will come shooting out of their holes much too fast making them scream. But once they start it's almost impossible to stop until most of the pressure has eased. At that point there will still be eggs inside and they will have to heave and strain, desperate to empty their overtaxed womb, knowing that even now a new egg is forming.
Others produce an egg less often, once every few days or so, but the eggs are much too big. Most are about as big around as a newborn's head. These unlucky subjects are forced to experience the agony of childbirth multiple times a week or, if they refuse to push, for hours at a time when they finally are forced to birth the built up eggs. The cruel irony is that the drugs used to induce egg production make their holes much more resilient meaning they stay tight never getting stretched out and lose no matter how many births they endure.
However, even they are fortunate in comparison to the most miserable test subject in the facility. They were one of the first to undergo the procedure and their body had a unique and unfortunate reaction. At first it seemed like it was working well. They produced a small clutch of fist sized eggs. Then on their next cycle one of the eggs grew extremely fast. Overnight it had grown larger than a full term baby. Their belly was stretched horribly, streaked with angry red stretch marks from being forced to expand much too fast. The scientists were baffled. They tried having the subject lay their eggs. They managed to pass all the regular sized eggs but it soon became apparent that the big egg would never be able to pass through their hips. It was completely stuck.
This subject is still in the facility now. They follow a miserable routine. Over the month their already overfull stomach swells until they finally feel the tell tale spasms of contractions. They squat and push, slowly laying 6 or so eggs the size of their fist. It's hard, agonizing work, each hard shell stretching them open and dragging against their sensitive walls.
Then comes the worst part. The weight of the giant egg settles into their hips. They push desperately, working the tip down into their birth canal. Several long hard pushes later the tip will be visible parting their lips, peaking out into the world. They will labor and push for hours and the egg will inch out of them, it's huge girth stretching their hole beyond its limit. Then, as it always does, the egg will stop moving. No matter how frantically they push they cannot move the egg out another millimeter. It is caught in their hips, too wide to pass through the pelvic opening. They will rock their hips and moan and cry in bitter frustration as their tortured hole spasms around the gargantuan egg.
Finally the staff takes pity on them and comes to their aid. The subject struggles and screams, pleading to be let to push for just a bit longer, they can do it this time, this time they'll get it out, it's almost there! please don't push it back in again!! But their pleas fall on deaf ears. They are held down and the giant egg is slowly pushed back into their womb. They howl in pain and cry with bitter frustration and the rough shell slides back inside. The terrible weight settles back into their perpetually stretched womb and the cycle begins again.

so all you need to do right now is disappear.
HHHHAPPY ISATVERSARY EVERYONE. here’s redraws for every single battle cg in the game. 36 drawings this time around, with 11 of those being custom (though admittedly a good portion of those are edits). combined with the portrait redraws i made back in september, i’ve made 114 redraws for this project! jesus christ! just like those redraws, these are completely free to use!! as long as i’m credited and it’s not for commercial purposes, go wild!! do whatever you want!!!
no i didn’t make these for isat’s 1 year anniversary this is just wildly good timing.
i genuinely can’t fit all of these cgs in one post even with the 30 image limit on browser, but i’ll still try to fit Most of them below the cut (without making this post horrifically long), along with some notes that might be important 👍
okay! once again, i labeled all of the custom art as such in the drive(UPDATE. NNOT TRUE ANYMORE. reformatted file names to be easier to mod in auau. apologies!), but if you want a full list, the customs are hatless siffrin jackpot, bonnie jackpot, bonnie special attack, bigfrin attack, and a bunch of alts which are definitely not related to any projects i’ve been thinking about don’t worry about it. and out of those customs, only like. 3 of them are actually completely from scratch.
while i did my absolute best to keep the aspect ratios completely the same as the originals, there’s 3 exceptions that i just couldn’t get to work.
isabeau’s hair in his special attack cg wouldn’t fit in frame if i kept things completely accurate to the og, so i moved his cg down a bit. it shouldn’t cause any issues with modding or anything, it’ll just appear slightly lower than it does in game. alas…
isabeau’s sleeve and mirabelle’s hair made their jackpot sprites a little larger than the originals? i’m hoping this doesn’t have too much of an effect (since the jackpot sprites have inconsistent sizes) but i can’t test this myself unfortunately. aaa feel free to let me know on discord if any problems arise!!
i managed to fix these, so they aren’t going to cause problems now, but my original drawings for mirabelle and siffrin in the final attack scene were a pain in the ass to fix. mirabelle’s sprite was slightly too talk to fit in frame and siffrin’s hat whacked bonnie in the face while i was editing everyone together. i’m only mentioning this because it took like an hour and a half to fix them and finish the scene.
all that aside, these were a fucking BLAST to work on. apparently this ended up taking 57 hours over exactly 10 days. which is a little worrying if you do the math on that but somehow i have not burnt myself out. i will be doing enemies at some point!!! but probably not for a little bit. i think my friends will actually kill me if i don’t take a break.
once again, happy birthday isat. you’ve ruined my life and i wouldn’t have it any other way (silly).
also, on an actual serious note, this little timeloop game has genuinely changed my life for the better? you guys are probably sick of hearing it at this point (or maybe not, i don’t talk about myself That Much. i hope), but i was practically a ghost for about 2 years before joining this fandom. it’s a little surreal to suddenly have friends (plural!!!) and people who Care about me, or even know i exist, honestly. it’s weird!! in a good way!!!
i don’t think i would’ve ever come back to social media if this community wasn’t so welcoming. i’ve met a lot of really great people through this game!!! so, uh, thank you isat, i guess. here’s to another year.
#marshdoodles#isat#in stars and time#isat spoilers#also for full transparency. the sadness death redraw is effectively just a trace job. i’m not super happy with it because of thag#but i think i would be Killed if i tried to redo it. i dunno. maybe ill try to change it when i do sadnesses. maybe not.#besides that GOD im really happy with how these turned out#bigfrin was a last minute addition but i think he turned out fantastic#bonnie’s special attack isn’t my Favorite but i think it turned out pretty well considering the Struggle#gggod. trying to make a heavily foreshortened pose that still feels dynamic is really hard. how did id5 do this.#also don’t. worry about the Extra custom sprites that’re in there. i’m not planning anything.#happy isatversary everyone.#i blow away in the wind#isat redraw project

Since July (when the business I work for got acquired by a larger company) I've been doing a LOT more work and have been under a lot more stress and have been a lot more tired.
I have also said the words "I'm severely underpaid and we need to fix this" to at least three people from the c-suite and have been assured that nobody has forgotten that and that's on the agenda.
It's great that that's on the agenda but I keep having to choose between buying a mattress that doesn't hurt and paying power bills and it has been five months. (I got paid about a thousand dollars for a side project recently so this is no longer a choice that has me over a barrel but also it's not a choice I should have been struggling with given the size of the company I'm now working for and my tremendously increased workload)
All of which is background for the fact that I am applying for jobs and have been spending an unconscionable amount of time on LinkedIn (which is, like, eighty times more soul-crushing than I had realized; it is fucking grim on that website).
Because applying for jobs is a nightmare and because it is totally normal to apply for approximately a million jobs before you hear back from one, I have made up a tiny, miserable RPG to play to track my applications and I figure every time I "die" in the game I'll do something nice for myself like burn a vacation day or get takeout.
Anyway, here are the rules for playing Labor Quest:
Player starts with 100 HP; interactions with the Job Board determine player health over time.
Applying for a position: +1hp
Response: (call or email): +2hp
Interview: +10hp
Rejection: -10hp
Ghosting (1 month silence): -2hp
You die when you get to 0 points.
I'm playing very slowly because I do at least have a stable job with benefits so I'm not putting in more than a few applications a week and I'm currently at a score of 93. I've been ghosted by a landscaping company that was looking for a receptionist (and that I had to do an indeed skills test for to apply) and rejected by an extremely scammy ghostwriting company that I mostly replied to just to see what would happen (it's the writing company from the Dan Olsen "Contreprenuers" video). I suspect that I'm going to lose a lot of HP through ghostings in the coming week (I only wrote this out as a game in October so I haven't been tracking ghostings more than a month).
I'm considering adding modifiers like "reconfiguring entire resume for one submission," "taking skills tests," and "writing a goddamned cover letter," "spending > 1hr on LinkedIn in a 24hr period" that would also impact player HP.

Here's what I've been up to lately! Three years after I created the original version, here's a revamp of the first planet I mapped out for @jayrockin's "Runaway to the Stars" project, the homeworld of their Centaur aliens. This post covers Phase One: Geology.
Firstly, the Equirectangular elevation maps with and without the color gradient layer, and tectonic plate map. This color gradient marks sea level, of course, and while there are inland areas that are *also* below that elevation, I have yet to determine which of those basins have lakes and seas therein, and how their shorelines compare; *that* will be seen once I figure out the climate : ) As for the Plate map, most of the smaller, oblong plates without any rift boundaries represent island chains or continent fragments that accreted onto larger landmasses; discretely marking those was helpful for placing and shaping the mountain ranges.
Next, the Poles-Centered Perspective maps, made possible with Photopea's Polar Coordinates tool. The planet's Southern hemisphere, centered on the south pole, is seen at left, and its Northern hemisphere is seen at right. Like the previous set of three, this set includes the color elevation map, greyscale elevation map, and solid color tectonic plates.
Last of all, the basis for the planet's current appearance: it's tectonic history! These gifs, in six frames, cover about 200 million years of continental drift, starting with the breakup of two Supercontinents, and was primarily achieved in Blender. This isn't my first time trying to reconstruct a tectonic history, but it *is* my first time doing so this quickly and efficiently, thanks to the process I developed here using this planet's continents as a test case.
There will be more phases in this project completed and shared in the coming months, thanks for checking out this one! Also, I've already shared these maps on Reddit, where you should be able to see them in even higher resolution. Photopea and Blender, 2025

Hi, hello, I can't stop thinking about the Ford Kook AU. I NEED to know more. Like, if this is Ford, then where is Fiddleford? Did Fiddleford go through the portal? Is Stan desperately trying to reverse engineer the science bullshit that scrambled Ford's brain to make something that can unscramble it? If Fidds isn't in the portal, is he helping Stan try to unscramble Ford? Did Ford even send the postcard?! Is Stan even there at all!?! I am HOOKED. I will take any scraps or crumbs you have to give I am on my hands and knees begging
Hello hello!! I'm so glad you're liking my Au already :] I love all your suggestions! So far the lore is a bit rickety since I'm still on the fence as to how I want to incorporate Stanley and Fiddleford into the AU, since they'll be taking pretty major roles in the lore.
I'm hesitating between prioritizing a fun dynamic between characters and a fun story. I have some options that I'm going through though! Mostly just spitballing, nothing concrete :D
----------
Fiddleford's potential fates in this AU:
Option 1. He was sucked into the portal during a testing trial accident and is part of the reason why Ford went mad with Project Mentem. He becomes something similar to Portal Ford, but he is later brought back (idk how yet)
Option 2. He is fine and still in his dimension, just not with Ford. He will still play a larger role later in the AU, just in other ways.
----------
Stan's potential fates in this AU:
Option 1. He faked his death and chose to stay low (also inadvertently becoming part of the reasons to Ford's meltdown and madness when the latter learns of the news). He will accidentally cross paths with Ford, maybe. Or he will be brought to Gravity Falls by some other way.
Option 2. He is dead. (I may make Stanford interact instead with perhaps another version of Stan from another dimension, maybe a reverse portal / drifter Stan, just for a fun dynamic. But this idea might overlap with Fiddleford's option 1 fate, and also overcomplicate things a lot, so I'm a little opposed to it.)
Option 3. MAFIA BOSS.

REPLACEMENT
The itch had begun an hour ago, somewhere down at the base of her skull. She'd thought nothing of it at first. She was deep in meditative thought, doing what she loved best: postulating graph nodes and arcs, verifying loops and connection-points and—
It wouldn't go away. She tried to maintain focus, but it was no use. At last she stirred, rolled her shoulders and clacked her jaws in discomfort.
The noise awakened two of her brethren who sat in alcoves nearby. Their eyes glowed in the dark of the deep cave, annoyed at the disruption of their own meditations. She bared teeth, and they left her alone. She wished that she could dismiss the itch just as easily.
To her left, down below her own alcove, another of her brethren appeared in a puff of closing vacuum and stepped out onto the vast Amaja which dominated the center of the cave. The flat area was intricately carved with cartographic notations: the accumulated efforts of many thousands of journeys through the pathways of warped space which made up the universe.
She watched as her brother stooped far below to scratch a tiny addition to one of the many offshoots of offshoots of paths that made up the Great Map. Her eyes widened, and a sharp anticipation filled her: Her duty and the duty of all her people, was to maintain this map and to refine it, to keep the fixed points true, and to keep the Void at bay. It had been so long since the last Addition. She would have to study this new feature, trace its contours, commit it to memory, and then—
No, not right now. Right now...the itch! It was a mounting pressure, pushing everything else aside. She slumped against the stone and writhed, trying to shift her body, trying to get away, but she couldn't. Her jaw clenched tight, and she raised clawed hands to her head....
Something changed. She sat bolt upright, and the feelers on her head twitched back and forth. Her jaws click-clacked involuntarily, and the two pairs of eyes glared at her again, but she paid them no heed. A door opened in the back of her mind somewhere, and she was hearing something...seeing...knowing something. It was a path, down by the south margin of the larger whorl of the Map. Had it always been there? She'd never noticed....
Abruptly, her mind was there, though her body was not: Her awareness traced the pathways and alighted upon a desolate island, flanked by crashing waves and jagged rocks. This was new to her...she had never fully projected before—that was an ability reserved only for the elders, wasn't it?
The landscape impressed itself upon her awareness—dull rocks and clinging, silver lichen—and somehow, it was all familiar. How could that be, when she'd never traveled there before? Or maybe...maybe she had forgotten? Impossible.
The itching sensation consumed her again, and her mind was pulled further: Now a decrepit fortress rose in her vision. Once more she found that she knew the path, all the way in, through the walls, into stone.
A blue-armored figure tapped its foot in a gray chamber. Its eyes turned round the room, turned, turned...then fixed on her.
Those eyes were familiar too.
Another rush of closing vacuum, and her body vanished from the alcove in the far away cave. The network of the Great Map opened, and she skipped from junction to junction along the clusters of warp-veins and capillaries. Down a side-path, she felt her awareness fixate for a moment on a small islet, where a crushed corpse lay under the daystars, and she understood....
By the time she appeared before the ancient blue-armored Toa, more memories had solidified. Memories of training, of testing...but were they her memories? They seemed real, but how could she know?
"Botar," the Toa said, frowning a little. "Took you three seconds longer than usual."
"The...the Botar is dead," she replied, her tone flat. The words simply came out of her, like a pre-recorded message.
The Toa's eyes widened imperceptibly. A moment passed.
"Well," the Toa said, "it's not the first time. Do you know me?"
Memories of training, of testing....
"Yes. You are...Toa Helryx."
"Just Helryx. I am no Toa. Do you know yourself?"
"I do."
"And who are you?"
A crushed corpse, under the daystars....
"I am...the Botar."
"And the Botar serves the Great Spirit."
"The Botar serves..." she trailed off.
"...Yes?"
To maintain the map...to keep the fixed points true...to keep the Void at bay.
"The Botar serves the Great Spirit," she said, and again the words seemed like they'd already been said for her. "The Great Spirit has called, and I have come."
"Affirmative," Helryx replied, smiling a little. "Hopefully you weren't in the middle of anything."
Postulating graph nodes and arcs...verifying loops and connection-points....
"No...nothing."
"Good. Then let's get back to work."
