A monster by any other name would spook as sweet... it's THE MANSTER (1959) aka SŌTŌ NO SATSUJINKI aka THE SPLIT from directors George Breakston and Kenneth G. Crane!
An American/Japanese co-production, this schlocky-titled film is anything but as it tackles themes of masculinity and alcoholism.

#King-Ohger Finale Theatrical Version ?
Can I get a kuroo x ftm male reader where kuroo and the reader have been besties since middle school and kuroo has been slowly developing a crush on the reader.
The two of them were at a gas station at the middle of the night, grabbing slushies and snacks, blastjng indie music in his car. They go back to his house and kuroo just can't stand how handsome the reader is. He changed into some short shorts and wow wee kuroo is attracted.
I don't really know how I want kuroo to kiss him but make it sorta hot ( I understand if you don't want that so if not make it wholesome :) )
The reader is just like :0 'i knew it!!
Thank you !

Kuroo Tetsurō x FTM reader
Warm golden light filters through the classroom window, and sleepy calm enveloped the third years of class five like a blanket.
Kuroo’s hand lazily moved across the page, his script remaining clean and uniform despite his drooping eyelids. English was definitely not his favourite subject, but being with you made it a bit more bearable. His eyes wandered over to you, desk perched in the corner, a little patch of sun bathing you in gold. (Last name) (your name), his best friend.
While it was easy to say he saw Kenma as his younger brother, up until this point, he couldn’t exactly say he had pinpointed what his feelings were for you. Butterflies bloomed in his stomach as he watched your eyes flutter open, soft, piercing (colour) eyes gazing drowsily into his very soul.
You lifted your head off of your crossed arms, stretching like a cat. Your shirt lifted slightly, the soft, (colour) skin of your hip coming into view, and smiled at him. Kuroo felt his heart skip a beat, heat creeping quickly up his neck. Quickly composing himself, he sent a slightly flustered smirk your way.
That was a few weeks ago, and Kuroo believes he has finally pinpointed his feelings for you. He was a little embarrassed, because as he reflects on his time with you, he can’t help but feel that it should have been obvious. I mean really, he thought to himself, who looks at their best friend and imagines spending the rest of their life with them-
“Tetsuuuuu….”
And waking up to them cuddled up to their chest, still asleep-
“Hello? Earth to Tetsu-sannn…..”
Or slow dancing in the kitchen waiting for the rice cooker to finish-
“Oi Rooster-kun!”
Surely that’s not normal righ-
“KUROO WAKE THE FUCK UP!”
Kuroo was jolted out of his thoughts by your shout. He could have sworn you used a megaphone, what with his ears ringing the way they were. He looked over at you with feigned offence. You laugh slightly at his expression and he smirks.
“We’re here, dumbass.” Kuroo scoffs at (name)’s singsong tone. He glances up and sure enough the neon gas station sign half blinds him.
“Chibi-chan, I still don’t understand why we have to get drinks and snacks at-“ he checks his watch, “one in the morning.” Kuroo sighs petulantly.
“Come on Tetsu, its Sat- well Sunday- but! I’m starving and you’re sleeping over so you have to come!” (Name) looks so proud of his argument, his triumphant grin melting away any protest he may have had. Granted he didn’t really mind, he just wanted to prod the bear.
Clearly that plan backfired miserably.
You jumped out of your car, giggling at Kuroo as he stumbled. Honestly, the lack of grace he has off court is hilarious!
Kuroo limped after you through the doors of the gas station, pouting and rubbing his backside. He rounded the corner, walking into the (favourite section), and immediately started regretting the decisions that led him to this point when he saw you with your arms full of (favourite snack), seaweed potato chips, pocky and ito en green tea.
“You know the drill, Tetsu! You scored two points less than me in the last English test so you’re paying!”
"Your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so~"
Your singing was never really the best, but Kuroo loved listening to it anyway. Off key and unsteady, you screamed out the lyrics, pouring your heart into every word. The whole neighbourhood could probably hear you, what with your windows rolled down, but he couldn't care less. He was content.
As you pulled into the driveway, he was once again in a daze. You looked so warm, dancing around under the orange glow of the street lights, your micasa volleyball pj shorts swaying with you.
He didn't even realise his feet were moving until it was too late. He grabbed your hand, you turning to face him with confusion shining in your eyes. His hand softly cupped your cheek, and he could swear anyone could se the hearts in his eyes.
"(Name), can I-" he didn't even have the chance to finish when he felt your soft/chapped lips brush his. If this is what love felt like, he was undeniably addicted.
(Name) chuckled breathlessly "Ha, I knew it! You were so obvious, you know that?"
Kenma rolled his eyes, continuing his game of Skyward Sword. He loved his brother, but he didn't know if he would be able to deal with having Kuroo as his brother in law.

Here in my abyss of charred corpses

Now, dead or alive? The scent of crimson red steel
cutting through is the one thing that satisfies me
Now, dead or alive? Have you fallen yet? Answer me
All vanities shall be turned to dust
And offered to me

Brains are squeezed out
As I weave the thread of sin

The pure blue sky remains unphazed
The unsightly festival is over

she looked up a bit, and saw a familiar person na nakayuko, mukhang tulog. and suddenly, memories began to flow.
"wear this for a while, let's buy you flats pagdating natin sa kabila," tetsurou said as he positioned on his knees para isuot sa kaniya ang sarili nitong white converse.
"you really don't have to, ano ka ba. i'm okay," pilit niya.
"no, don't say sorry. it's okay. ayoko lang hindi ka komportable lalo ako ang kasama mo," sagot nito, and he really did look like he meant it.
"heels-heels pa kasi, 'no?" she joked.
tetsurou chuckled lightly. "hindi 'yon, ganda. okay lang naman kasi gusto mo, and you feel beautiful with that. but now that you're hurt, gawan natin ng paraan." and he jokingly messed her hair.
that... she didn't expect that. all the hesitance she had before finally meeting him after months of talking online flew. she expected him na pagalitan siya. he might have thought hindi naman pala niya kayang magheels, bakit nagsuot pa siya, but his actions and words said otherwise.
"pa'no ka?" kagat-labi niyang tanong, nakatitig sa paa nitong naka-medyas lang. he was left with it, along with his plain navy blue t-shirt na medyo hapit sa katawan niya, and black pants.
tetsurou looked up at her with those smug smirk. kanina ay akala niya nang-aasar ito, but no, he really had that natural smirk as if he was boasting every time he speaks. on the contrary, he's nothing but gentle with her aside from jokes he would let out that never failed to make her laugh.
"edi heels mo, batak 'to!" he then tried to fit the shoe na ikinatawa nila pareho.
tetsurou ended up walking on his socks hanggang sa makarating sila sa mabibilhan nila ng flats.
come to think of it—it really was the same off-white converse shoes she unexpectedly worn that day. once again, she tried peeking at the person's face, and her heart didn't stop beating again.
this stranger was painful to look at.
tetsu: wala ka namang kailangan gawin. be still, and stay, i can wait.
yn: i can't.
tetsu: anong ibig mong sabihin?
yn: i can't have you wait for something not sure. hindi ako for commitments tetsurou.
and just like that, she managed to erase him from her life. mukhang madali kasi saglit na block lang naman nagawa niya na. alam niyang hindi siya hahabulin nito because that's how he respected her. she had all the shots. and it was unfair.
"paparating na sa—"
bago pa man niya maintindihan ang sinasabi ay umangat ang mukha ng ngayo'y estranghero. agad siyang umiwas ng tingin. he looked the same, yet he felt different. para siyang nakatingin sa abandonadong playground kung saan nandoon pa rin lahat ng bagay, pero malabo na niyang malaro ulit dahil hindi na functional ang mga gamit.
naramdaman niyang bumukas ang pinto sa tabi niya, maging ang pagtayo ng estranghero. before she could even stop herself, she looked at him, and their eyes met.
and he looked away. just like what a stranger would do.
Hideko Takamine in Danger Stalks Near (Keisuke Kinoshita, 1957)
Cast: Hideko Takamine, Keiji Sada, Akiko Tamura, Koji Nanbara, Toshiko Kobayashi, Hiroko Ito, Masako Arisawa, Ryo Ono, Kotohisa Saotome, Yoshihide Sato, Koji Satomi, Saburo Sato, Akira Oze, Shoji Sayama, Shinji Tanaka.
Screenplay: Keisuke Kinoshita. Cinematography: Hiroshi Kusuda. Art direction: Chiyoo Umeda. Film editing: Yoshi Sugihara. Music: Chuji Kinoshita.
Nothing about the English title suggests that you're going to get the comedy of errors that Danger Stalks Near turns out to be, or that its star, Hideko Takamine, usually seen in serious, often glamorous roles, will play a mousy, bespectacled housewife under the domination of her tyrannical mother-in-law. The film starts out with two young thugs bullying Kohei (Shinji Tanaka), a man from the country who needs money to return home, into robbing a suburban house. But as they case the joint from a nearby hillside, things constantly happen to keep them from their goal. The house is the property of Tetsu Sato (Akiko Tamura), a war widow, who lets her son, Kaneshige (Keiji Sada), and his wife, Yuriko (Takamine), and their son, Kazuo (Kotohisa Saotome), live there. She also rents a room to Miyoko ( Hiroko Ito), a flighty young woman who starts the day's madness off by burning a hole in the tatami mat in her room. Tetsu immediately evicts her. Things snowball from there, with the tatami repairman coming and going, movers arriving, Yuriko's sisters showing up with various problems of their own, Yuriko returning with her boyfriend to demand the remaining day she had paid for in rent, an old friend of Kaneshige's arriving and revealing his own larcenous aims, and various other unexpected incidents. The three would-be thieves watch in dismay as their opportunity to bust in and steal what they -- and others -- believe to be a considerable amount of money belonging to Tetsu disappears. Kinoshita piles on the complications, and in the process unveils some of the hidden motives and simmering resentments of the members of the household. For once, Kinoshita lets his cynical side dominate, diluting some of the syrup that often makes his films a little sticky.
I'm too worried about the continuation... (laughs)
The story is too good

It was Eijirou’s first week in the hospital he was only six, and he was afraid. He had every right to be afraid, he’d never spent more than a week in a hospital and now he was going to spend maybe up to three months! In little kid life that’s very very long! Not to mention he wasn’t feeling well. He never felt well but this was different. His body hates him!
He’d been newly diagnosed with Cystic fibrosis because of the number of chest infections he’d been getting. His stomach wasn’t absorbing the food his mom would give him and not to mention the coughing fits. It would get so bad that Ito, his mother would take him to the clinic and they’d give him treatments that only helped with infections.
Now that he had his diagnosis, they wanted to keep him in the hospital to find a way to help him live a normal life. He wasn’t the only one crestfallen by this news. His twin brother Tetsu was hardly ever allowed to see his sibling because of how sick the young one would get. The hospital staff always said Tetsu had to wait outside the room because of his age.
Luckily the staff at this long-term facility would allow the silver-haired boy to see his bother as long as he wore a mask.
The next was their mothers Ito and Emily or Emi. Ito and Emi were devastated when they’d gotten the news that their baby boy would be permanently sick. Both of them had felt responsible for their son’s ailment. But each time Eijirou saw his moms sad, he would give his best smile and tell them.
“Momma, Mommy, I’ll be okay please don’t cry” Each time Eijirou said something like this it only made the moms want to cry even harder. How could their baby still smile in the face of death?!
Now that they were at the new facility Eijirou was nervous. His moms talked to him about it, and they knew he’d miss his home and be scared. He already had trouble making friends in school!
So Emi and her military training friends brought some of Eijiou’s things to make the room homier.
The room was pretty colorful actually with red and orange polka-dots on the white walls. The tile was also different colors to match the walls. So they brought blankets, pillows, and Eijirou’s stuffies. Night light, coloring books, children’s manga, and his favorite sippy cup. It was better than just white walls and white sheets on the bed!
Now if only Eijirou could make a friend, maybe this would make his experience less dreary.
It had been a week and a half since Eijirou had come to the hospital for treatment of the chest infection on top of his cystic fibrosis. He was getting over the infection pretty well now it was just helping him recover from it and try to strengthen his body. Deeming him safe enough to go and play in the lobby area where they had lots of toys, little slides, and games for the children. The doctor told Ito and Emi that he could go into the play area. It was also a way for them to observe his mannerisms to determine his normal energy vs sick.
So with Eijirou being given the freedom to play and his only rule being that he needs to wear a mask and wear his special oxygen backpack, he could go play.
“Okay Eiji hun, you ready to go play?” Asked Ito who was helping Eijirou put his mask on. He nodded and reached for his mommy’s hand. Smiling nervously behind his mask clutching his stuffed dragon sunrise in the other hand, he follows his mommy out of his hospital room and to the lounge area.
It's so bright and colorful it reflects the place as less of a medical prison and more of a fun space. There was lots of equipment, even a tv with consoles! There was also a place for parents and hospital staff to sit and watch the little ones play.
“Alright baby, mommy’s gonna go sit on one of the benches. If you need anything just come over okay.” She lets go of his little hand and strolls over to a place to sit leaving Eijirou to his own devices. He was a little overwhelmed with it all. It was a lot like school to him.
There were some little tables for the children to sit down and color or just play at. Craft buckets with child-friendly stationary supplies. He holds sunrise in both arms now and shyly makes his way to a table as he doesn’t truly feel like playing. He wanders over to a blue table that has a boy with bright blond hair and yellow eyes. He’s got a black lightning strike in his hair and he seems to be contently coloring something. He’s got a Pikachu plushie next to him which also has its piece of paper and a crayon.
Eijirou wants to sit there too!
“U-um excuse me” Eijirou stutters out shyly, the boy looks up at him their bright eyes meeting. Both the boy and Pikachu are wearing masks and the boy has the same special bookbag as Eijirou.
“Yeah?” The blond boy puts his crayon down for a second but starts kicking his feet underneath the table.
“C-can I sit here?” Eijirou inquired meekly hoping the boy wouldn’t reject him like his schoolmates always did. Smiling behind his mask the other boy nods but then says.
“Your dragon needs to wear a mask, I don’t want Pikachu to get sick”
Hearing that it wasn’t a ‘no’ made the raven-haired boy happy, there was only one thing, he needed to get Sunrise a mask.
“Where do I get them? My mommy got mine.” Then The other boy stood up at this, picked up Pikachu, grabbed Eijirou by the hand, and answered back.
“I think my mommy has some, come on I’ll take you over.” Eijirou nodded quietly and followed the kid toward the benches. His mommy was sitting next to a woman who looked just like the boy. The boy taps on his mom’s knee for her attention as she’d been talking to Eijirou’s mom.
“Oh Denki, hi baby, what is it?” “Mommy he wants to sit with me, so I told him his dragon needs a mask, but he doesn’t have one for them. Do you?” Denki explained to his mommy who giggles.
“I think I’ve got something,” She then looks over at Eijriou and asked while fishing through her bag.
“You must be Eijirou, I’ve been talking to your mommy. Nothing bad hun, just talking” His eyes stare back brightly at the blond woman then back at his mother who smiles back at him.
“I see you’ve finally made a friend Eiji?” Eijirou didn’t exactly know if they were friends yet, they just met. He turned to Denki and curiously questioned.
“Are we friends Denki?” Denki then made a thinking face, furrowing his brows and folding his arms with a look of question.
“We can be friends if you tell me your name and your dragon’s name.” He replies, this made EIjirou happy, he could have his friend without hassle!
“My name Is Eijirou Kirishima, this is Sunrise,” He says last part gesturing to his sunrise-colored dragon.
“Okay, we’re friends now!” Denki said excitedly, this brought the biggest smile to Eijirou’s face you could see it through the mask. Denki’s mom eventually found a mask for Sunrise and helped put it on.
His first friend and little did he know they’d be best friends til death did them part

“SEE THE TWO-HEADED KILLER CREATURE!” screams the tagline from The Manster, half man-half monster. The Grue-Crew follows the cast and crew to Japan for this delightfully silly, yet oddly effective, late 50’s creature feature. The results are part Jekyll and Hyde, part pre-Cronenberg body horror (RE: an eye growing out of the hero’s – or is it the villain’s – shoulder). Don’t let the title fool you, this one deserves a Saturday afternoon Monster-kid viewing. Check out what the Grue-Crew think with episode 159.
At the time of this writing, The Manster is available to stream from Amazon Prime in B&W and colorized versions, and from Tubi.
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks. Up next in their very flexible schedule, as chosen by Daphne, is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920) starring John Barrymore! This will be the Classic Era Grue Crew’s ninth journey to Silent Screamland. Yup, Chad’s going to have to read intertitles again.
