no but this quote from aimee lou wood though:
"patrick [schwarzenegger] was devastated that saxon didn't take a bullet for chelsea. he was like 'i want saxon to die for chelsea..." and i'm saying "but you can't save chelsea.' saxon can't save chelsea in the way that chelsea can't save rick."

Look... we are going to have Vox Machina save Vax, Mighty Nein kill the Weave Mind, Bells Hells kill Ludinus. Just saying, next we need a Crown Keepers save Opal arc.

I think it'd be pretty interesting to see a Warriors-style Bravely Default game.
Not sure how they'd implement the asterisk system and weapon choices, but I'd imagine the Duchy and Empire would have fixed weapon and asterisk choice (and maybe something that lets them set abilities, even those from other jobs.)
Khint and Aimee I can picture as functioning like Sheik from Hyrule Warriors, with their combos being what allows them to augment their weapons with elemental magic.
Einheria would be highly mobile and have excellent crowd control, but some of her attacks are high risk, high reward due to being very strong but leaving her vulnerable.
Minette would be a jack of all trades due to her Catmancer abilities, and can have excellent control over the battlefield.
Kamiizumi would be rather balanced, but he excells at one-on-one general fights due to his asterisk specialising in counter attacks.
Victoria would absolutely be a glass cannon. She's about as sturdy as wet tissue paper, but utterly rips apart groups of enemies. (Her combos would probably help her apply poison, since she really likes using Exterminate - which would probably be her "strong attack": harmless until someone is unlucky enough to get hit with the poison status.)
Do you get what I mean?

Would the Hewitt's or Thomas ever ask Eddie if he misses his family? I feel like it would pop up at least once in their lifetimes. The real question isn't when, but where would that happen. I say where because I have a feeling Eddie wouldn't be comfortable talking about his family to anybody unless it's somebody he dosen’t mind getting vulnerable to.
i don’t think any of the hewitts would ask him that directly. that’s simply because they don’t seem like the type of family to really talk about feelings that deeply, and something as heavy as “do you miss your family (you know, the one you’ll never be able to see again)?” would be uncomfortable for most of them to ask. i could see jed asking though, because he’s a kid and has fewer “manners”.
there’s certain points in darkest hour where eddie speaks about his family to the hewitts, the first being him telling thomas about his grandparents in ch3 and the second being him mentioning his abusive father to luda mae in ch4. these instances are very different, but i feel like neither of them are him being the most vulnerable he could be. when telling luda mae about his father, eddie speaks with this kind of nonchalant “what can you do” attitude. “yeah my dad hit us, but it’s fine, i’m fine”, y'know? even when he told thomas about his grandfather’s death (and he was far more vulnerable doing so), he tells thomas that he’s not torn up about it because “death doesn’t matter”. eddie’s quick to downplay his deeper feelings, especially when it comes to his family, so it’d be hard for him to answer such a question in the first place. i feel like in the first few years of living with the hewitts, he’d only feel comfortable giving answers like “what’s there to miss? i’m happy where i am now” and “i don’t think about it. there’s no need to”.
it’d be easier for him to admit that he misses his grandparents because his relationship with them wasn’t all that complicated. they were good to him, of course he misses them (“but my life is better now, i’m free” blah blah blah). with his parents, i think it’d be far harder for him to speak about it. he doesn’t miss them, but rather the idea of them. what they could’ve been—what they were to his sister eileen, but never to him. deep down, i think eddie craves his parents love and “misses” what he could’ve had, if only he was a different person. “but that doesn’t matter! why are we talking about this?”
to answer the question of “when”, i think he’d only be able to tell the complete, honest truth to thomas specifically after the 1973 massacre, when he’s at his lowest and most like. emotionally raw? he changes as a person kinda. he becomes more mature and aware of his feelings, and begins to really reflect on the way he’s lived. this of course would bleed into how he feels about his family.
to answer your question of “where”, it’d be a one-on-one conversation, preferably in the privacy of their bedroom. eddie would bring it up first, probably after something triggered/reminded him of it. after his “death”, i imagine that news reporters harassed his family, demanding to know what they were feeling and thinking. i think they’d refuse to respond, and maybe that would make the news, and make it’s way to eddie.
this is a very long response, i rambled a lot ………. hope this answers your question!

Book review: Simon Thorn and the Wolf's Den by Aimée Carter
Tumblr media
Liveblog of the book.
Short review: It would probably have been a favorite book of mine when I was twelve years old,
Long review: The book is about a twelve years old kid named Simon who lives a pretty isolated life and can talk to animals. One day his life is forever changed when he learns several family secrets and goes on a 'quest to save his mom. A
The characters in the book are relatively flat. It could be because it's the first book in the series and character development is planned for later books while the first one focus on the setting. B
It's an interesting world but despite the majority of the book explaining, showing, or presenting the world it still ends up feeling a bit surface level. Perhaps it's because the animals presented in the story fall under stereotypes which makes the world based on them lacking a bit of nuance. B
The writing fits well for the intended audience, at least the Swedish translation. The text doesn't speak down to the audience but it's quite an easy read for adults. B
Rating: B+

“people are so mean about rick, and as they should be. it’s not nice watching someone be mean to a ray of sunshine, but she is nuts. she’s just as nuts as he is. his god is his own pain, and she’s made her god him. both of them are crazy. i love them so much, but they are crazy, and they die because they’re crazy. they don’t die because it’s a love story. they die because they’re crazy.”
