adela (MANDATORY) - i said it had to be the blood of her enemies but that was a joke. adela's much more interested in cruelty than transmittable blood diseases. as long as its made with the best ingredients available in the town and she gets to lord over whoevers in charge, thats plenty. and 'best ingredients' usually involves slaughtering a prized cow or other animal/pet not intended for consumption.

elyria - hmm.. whats the street food equivalent of soup... this hardly counts, but im pretty sure the general idea of pasties is that theyre soup ingredience cooked in a bread roll. she'd go apeshit for those. but also she'd go apeshit if you introduced her to the concept of the Bread Bowl. so like, put some cheese and broccoli in one of those and hand it to her. she'll love it. theres no evidence you even ate soup at all!

caroline - she's from a miller family so she grew up with the concept of noodles. a classic chicken noodle girlie.

angel - i have no idea what kind of tastes she'd have honestly. 's gotta have meat tho.

peach - hm. i think she also likes the classic meat and potatoes type stew.

eltah - there are cold soups right? she'd like one of those. i cant think of any off the top of my head. soba makes a cold soup right?

vasch - vasch doesnt have like, a tongue, so she cant taste any of the soups. really the most important things are texture and the ability to swallow without a lot of chewing. soups made from like, small grains like rice or barley, and heavily diced and cooked vegetables. she likes especially if theres spices in it so she can smell it, and she likes the warmth.

hmm not sure if i can pick artists like myself (cuz its usually just one or two aspects i think are similar (my art is a big mashup of bits and pieces i love)) but i can def share some artists that inspire me! they'll mostly be on twitter tho cuz thats where i follow most of em ;p

@/Belial43157741 : super cool techwear/light mech elements to their art and great colors. their art usually has more minimalist shading which gives it a super clean look while still showing the form of the hard surface elements in their drawings

@/VibeStrike (NSFW) : love how soft their lines are and the shapes they use to draw bodies! once again someone who uses more minimal shading, although they tend towards softer/more blended colors/shadows which has a very soft and touchable look to it. i totally ripped off their paw style cuz i love it so much lol

@/Deceased_Bunny : their work was what got me to use that crispy ass binary brush and chromatic aberration more! I also really like the shapes they use for bodies and their art made me realize i could just give all my characters cute little paws lol. I love their little tableaus/scenes and how they can populate a room. great vibes

@/godbirdart : Their ref/outfits sheets were a huge inspiration for how i do a lot of my backgrounds. i love how they include a lot of icons/text in the layouts and it gives it this really sleek yet maximalist look, somehow balancing a lot of details while not distracting from the focal point of the characters

@/ISANANIKA : similar to prev, love their text layouts and more graphic approach especially with their work for Howl Out (their clothing brand)

@/scpkidd : love their character designs and how they can incorporate so many colors and hues in a piece while still having it look really harmonious. their use of textured brushes (especially in environments) def was one of the things that got me to start using procreate more

@/yapa_yappa : huge fan of their compositions that combine 3d models and 2d illustration/animated elements... not something i've done too much of yet but i really want to start experimenting with that combo more its such a cool effect

Thank you for talking about the “able to get to the door but unable to stay inside” thing re:stimulation. My issues are less severe than yours were (creates chronic fatigue instead of severe meltdowns) but it’s kinda the first time I’ve heard anyone discuss them as a legitimate disabling barrier. I still have this “if I just try hard enough” mentality that I’m trying to overcome, and it helps to have someone else go “no, this is a real problem.”

Honestly the brain injury really opened my eyes because I do have ADD and had childhood epilepsy (been seizure-free since I was 8 tho) so we were somewhat conscious about sensory stuff but a lot of it was like. Okay every once in a while you will touch something that is Bad Texture and you will scrub your skin raw about it for the next couple of hours. Annoying repeating sounds fade into the background for you but God Forbid anyone talks while you're concentrating because now they've ruined everything. You'd rather starve than put Tastes Bad into your mouth and have gone to bed with hunger pains many times as a result. etc etc etc for me it wasn't so disabling but largely that was due to my mom knowing how to manage my symptoms and teaching me from a very young age how to cope.

And then with the seizures my major warning sign was a colossal headache that refused to go away which was a sign to go lay down somewhere quiet and dark for a few hours until it passed or else a lightning storm would happen in my skull :D

But the brain injury... that really upset everything. Which is commonly reported, when I was finally able to speak I told my neurologist that I felt like a completely different person and not in a good way and he said that most TBI survivors have said this.

Honestly the best way I can describe it is that. Hmm. Imagine... your TV is too loud. When I say too loud I mean like. It hurts to be in the same room as the TV, it's bordering on the edge of so loud that it makes you physically take a step back. When the TBI first happened, that was any and every stimulus to my senses. My clothes touching my skin was Too Loud. Tasting my food was Too Loud. The ambient light coming from my window was Too Loud. And so on and so forth. Because there was an actual damaged piece of my brain, it was really struggling to parse any more information than "oh, no, ow, make that stop".

I wore blacked out glasses inside because I couldn't stand to keep my eyes open otherwise. I would ask my roommates to whisper several rooms down if they were going to talk to each other or on the phone because even just hearing their footsteps was like someone was taking a hammer to my forehead. I was usually naked because the feel of my shirt against my back would set me off. There's a lot I can't remember from that time but I remember being so frustrated as I hid under my covers from the light and the ambient noise of living with a bunch of people and their pets that "trying harder" and "pushing through" honestly just made everything worse.

It's a lot better now. It'll be 5 years in July. But every once in a while something will still set me off and I will be back in that place, frustrated with myself as I feel my brain hurtling towards a Very Loud Meltdown that I cannot get to stop.

I just don't appreciate being told that it's somehow lesser because my legs work. Especially considering TBIs are so common, and they happen so fast. All it takes is one good knock on the head and then you'll be just like me.

1.) What song makes you feel better?

.......I am gonna sound like a broken record here cuz this has been my answer to every question about music ever buuuuuut "Down by the Water" by Ocie Elliott 😂 Idk I'm just kinda obsessed with that song rn. Actually listening to it on repeat yet again rn 😂 USUALLY tho, I'd go with something more upbeat to make me feel better lol

2.) What is your go to comfort show?

You'd THINK I'd say Doctor Who based on, ya know *gestures vaguely at blog*. But I usually go with comedies when I want comfort. If I had to pick just one, I'd probably say Ted Lasso. But Our Flag Means Death, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and New Girl are also up there. And lately Abbott Elementary (that's what I ended up watching right after my dad died actually, it was a nice light hearted distraction).

9.) Best childhood moment?

Oh gosh how to chose hmmm. I mean, I feel like I almost HAVE to say the day my little sister was born. She's almost 12 years younger so I remember it well. And she's definitely the best thing that ever happened to me/the person I love most in the world.

But I do also have pretty good memories of a trip to Disney World with both my parents when I was 8. They'd been divorced for like 2 years at that point but wanted to take us as a family anyhow, and it was pretty great. We drove there, my dad drove for 21 hours straight without stopping (yes he was crazy). We got to Florida at like 11pm (we went to Daytona Beach first, and drove to Disney the next day) and just went straight to bed. And I remember the next morning, I woke up before my mom & sister, and went out to the balcony to watch the sun rise over the ocean with my dad, and that was my first time seeing the ocean!

11.) Do you have a comfort item? Tell us about it!

Yes, 2 actually! The main one is I have a baby blanket that my grandma on my dad's side made for me. She made one for all 6 of her grandkids actually. Idk what exactly the craft she did is called, needlepoint maybe? Idk but basically she made a bunch of Disney characters out of yarn on the blanket. But the blanket itself has a nice smooth texture that's cool to the touch and is just nice sensory wise. The "blanket" is basically just a tangled ball of scraps at this point, cuz I've slept with it basically every night for 33 years lol. But I still love it and it brings me comfort.

The other one is a squishmallow I got a few years ago. He is a gnome and his name is Gnorman (idk what the actual official squishmallow name is, I renamed him). And he has probably absorbed gallons of tears from me crying into him at this point 😂

14.) Whats something upcoming that you’re excited for?

Hmm there's not really a lot of big things for me to look forward to at the moment, so I've mostly just been looking forward to small things like watching my show. I guess maybe christmas? Altho I'm honestly not feeling it as much this year 🤷‍♀️

12. describe your process while drawing

I put music/background noise on (very important), gather a bunch of references (half ends up being just emotional support tbh lol, especially when i reuse a file), and... just start drawing lineart ig? I don't really sketch? 😭 so i just adjust the lineart as i go. Usually the whole figure of a character first, then clothes on a new layer. Once lineart is done i cry internally and go thru the agonizing process of coloring (which feels like blindly trying to find my way thru dense fog), thinking it absolutely sucks until i'm finally done and suddenly decide "eh. it looks fine" or "actually, this is pretty good!" lol.

13. talk about a wip you like!

It's keqing the adepti's favorite with ganyu, morax and cloud retainer in the background. It's supposed to be a little dramatic lol, showing her as a passionate and skilled mortal right at the front, supported by some of the most powerful beings of liyue. So yknow, a cool pose and hopefully good enough composition (how do i fit all those creatures in there? we will see!). I put it on hold for gq birthday art bc it has a deadline, but i'm excited to go back to it later. I got more ideas i'm excited abt, but they don't count as wips yet ig lol, only existing as notes in my word doc for now.

21. what do you think your artstyle would taste like?

Hmm, i thought of halva. Sweet but a little weird strong taste ig (bc it's made of sesame, it has nuts too), pretty dense, kinda crunchy and crumbly, and with coarse texture. Feels niche among the sweets here tbh lol, not exactly everyone's favorite or first choice of sweets.

24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?

because that's exactly how i'm trying to draw ganqing, even tho my artstyle is obviously pretty simplistic 😅 So idk how they even managed to see it in my art, but i'm glad!

I'm also glad when someone says my art is "unique" or they like the shapes!

28. whats a piece you would like to redraw at some point?

I think there's 2 big ones rn, and i actually already started redrawing both of them. Not sure when i'll finish, that's currently 4 wips. The difference in how i drew the faces back then vs those new wips is pretty funny, especially in the iceskating drawing. I'm... excited to draw them better now lol!

So I agree with most of your fanon complaints but tbh I sometimes will still read fics with mildly annoying habits and just like, compartmentalize the parts that annoy me. I do it with the show too but I'm better at compartmentalizing with fanfic lol. Part of it is I follow a few really really good thoughtful fanfic writers so I haven't seen all of the stuff you've talked about. However I have seen the hiding veggies in meals headcanon & tho i didn't find it appealing or cute, it didn't bother me bc I interpreted as like an idiosyncrasy. Everyone's got em yk. my sister's friend is a literal genius, responsible, hard worker but also chaotic and will have these random Things that might make her seem immature. Like she does eat vegetables but if I heard that her boyfriend had to sneak them in her meals I wouldn't bat an eye.

That's completely understandable! There are plenty of things I don't like in fandom (either in this one or other ones) where I'm able to be like "I don't like this but the rest of the fic is good enough to ignore it" or "I normally hate this trope but I really like how this author wrote it". (I live by the rule that for all my complaining that anything can be tolerable/make sense if it's done well enough.) I used to be able to do that in this fandom but my tolerance level has dropped a lot lmao. It's much easier for me to do in say the Star Wars fandom. (Now that's a fandom with a lot of infighting!)

A big part of the issue is that it never is just one person or one thing lol. Someone writing something with a character being a bit childish or idiosyncratic is fine on its own, but when it's paired with a bunch of other questionable tropes or it's just done soooo much is when I start scratching my head.

Like I think I've mentioned before unrelated to this, but I do actually think that Steve probably is someone who likes to clean, a lot of the Stobin gang see him as something of a neat freak. On its own, Steve doing most or all of the cleaning because he's that anal feels really in character. It's when you pile all of these things on top of each other to where Eddie is doing nothing and Steve is doing everything that I'm like hmm. Don't like that.

Wrt to the veggie thing specifically... idk I guess you could take it as a quirky thing, but hiding vegetables in food hoping the person doesn't notice is literally one of the biggest stereotypical parent things I feel like? And I think it's having Steve specifically do it and Eddie not noticing that makes me side eye it.

Like lol, that's always the cliché, a kid moves out (normally a son) and you find out they aren't eating vegetables and only eating junk, so the mom has to do something to get her son to eat better. tbh i probably wouldn't have finished fire candy if i hadn't deduced early on the author was a woman (the plans to cover lesser known women writing typical type seinen/shonen is going. as terrible as you would expect) and in another post i did mention the mixed shoujo/seinen visuals but i guess i focused on like more flowery aesthetics bishonen and stuff. algo guess i ignored to mention that it is pretty much the statement of the author to produce series (or erotica, at any point anyway) that's appealing to both demographics, intentionally.

not that im gonna expound lots on details either though.. (it's stilla bible tho)

i ignored to mention (just forgot sorry) in the short review that in yellow hearts, SA is a verry recurrent thing/part/context of the sex scenes (that i have to define are with the erotic intent). now even then, i don't think [SA, 'age gaps', guys w freudian-esque issues, etc] in this case at least, represent a kind of deterrent for a female audience in intent (regardless of how i feel about it). first bc those are still Very Frecuent Things in erotica more clearly demographically divided aimed and written at women anyway, and second because topics aside the author, as mentioned above, uses the language and form of shoujosei to indicate in an transparent way to emphasize so.

the female characters even in the, yk, Situations... seem to preserve a preocupation with prettiness and the impression of pleasure in their designs/expressions. in net numbers, yes, they are usually/majority of the visual focus of the sexual scenes anyway since it's a seinen (audience implicit), but it's not like i can give you a definitive distinction between what about it is [meant to be in intent] the Object of interest or what has an Self-insert quality.

***the abovementioned preocupations w pretiness etc seem to very pointedly to work under the aesthetic proclivities of shoujosei. at a point it isn't so much about what men/women want but that These XYZ elements straight up don't customarily exist in shonen/seinen and those void bridged by the shoujosei proper also customary structures of the portrayal of intimacy are what evidence the interest of being of a pleasurable quality to read to a female audience, intentionally.

the paneling at points shifts completely to that of an shojosei romance's manga, the use of halftones, textures, neg and pos space, composition; of a tenderness (eh...) and an emotional interest of the parties that for as much shitty horny seinen ive read i dont find ever being as present, like at all (not that im precisely complimenting YH either...). of couse that's speaking of the ones that arent SA; theyre all pretty equally explict and intense regardless, in an customary-shoujosei unlikely fashion, though.

in the men's department.. well, on pretty literal terms the story is about idk yakuza gang conflict or smth, there will be rock bands and whores in between that i guess. from the very beginning there will be a balance to mantain between the main male characters being a more traditional dark but youthful type of masculinity for an seinen story while also obviously being yk. bishonen (most of the main ones at least). pretty easy to discern intent with those elements i think. it also extends to the sex scenes: vaguely speaking the author has a leniency to make them more, expressive? sentitive? something like that; make them have slightly/noticeably more presence in frames, that makes the thing a speck less onesided (well, it's less frequent the older/less bishie/more traditionally masculine the character is, not that that's surprising).

lastly.. hmm.. despite the author being kind of apparently of a bl writer on the side (tho YH is completely straight), male homoeroticism is mostly kept on the side (one char mentions it) or it's expressed thru more conventional male-on-male bloodlust and violence, though limited to the individual than in pro of indicating any particular relationship between the parts. however, i think that keeping the motions of homoerotic violence w no textual outlet for it makes some of the male characters' sexuality interesting so far it's just as confused as the mixed language of shoujosei and seinen of above.

for one, it makes violence, for the seinen audience, sexual but in a slightly more unusual and/or uncomfortable way, for the genre at least. both because of a female audience in mind and how [the male characters] can serve to them in a shoujo fashion but also taking into acc BL fashions, ends up making them as much of the

....god. do I even have one?? Nothing's coming to mind or sticking out when I think of my faves, like. I haven't listened to all of Taylor's discography yet but I've liked basically everything I've heard and don't actively hate any of it (...or at least not her parts of it); I can think of maybe one tentative example for Rybak but objectively I haven't actually listened to the song cause I couldn't get past the thumbnail for it (it's a YouTube video exclusive cause it's actually a parody song); KEiiNO is chill, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Journey, they're all pretty much bangers only....

I think my answer's gonna have to be two songs that mostly fit the bill, in that I didn't necessarily enjoy listening to them and haven't really listened after like the first time I heard them, and that's either I Don't Wanna Live Forever by ZAYN and Taylor Swift (not because of Taylor's parts tho she sounds great, I just can't stand the falsetto Zayn is in for most of it, especially during the chorus--he sounds so sharp or like. Hmm... I could use House at Pooh Corner again (a staple of mine for musical ask games), buuuttttt.... Nah, actually I'm bringing in a REAL throwback: She Loves You, but specifically the remastered Alvin and the Chipmunks version from the 2007 Greatest Hits album (Still Squeaky After All These Years). I wore that CD out as a kid when I had a CD player, and when the players kept breaking and my parents gave me a hand-me-down MP3 player this was one of the first albums my dad added for me. Honestly most of these songs could be used (I was particularly fond of If You Love Me (Alouette) as well) but She Loves You seemed like the most solid option.

Like it's not perfect, but it really revolutionized my gameplay.

hmm, there's a lot of them actually, but if i had to choose, some shades of brown, gray, yellow and green kinda make me feel.. weird hjdjkdksdsd. fun fact: i actually hated yellow when i was younger, but people always say that i look good in it and most of my clothes are yellow 😭 green is one of my fav colors now though i still don't like some shades of it.

when i was little, i tried some spicy chips for fun, couldn't handle the flavor and spent many years not eating anything spicy after that. i'm still kinda scared, though i think my spice tolerance is a little bit better now? my doctor even said that i actually should eat more spicy food because i'm extremely sensitive to textures and can't eat a lot of things because of that, so she was like "basically you need something that won't let you pay attention to the texture" HSJSKASLSLS

His scars are way less exaggerated in person, they kinda have a glimmer and shine to them too, that art just can't capture... You can see his muscles and tendons really clearly in them, too... Like, his shoulder blades are pretty pronounced, as well as his knuckles. They ARE sorta red and pink but way more faint than art shows. They have a very rigid yet smoothed out texture, think of deep stretch marks and how they feel I guess. But like, span it across his arm and entire back :-P

He actually does have stubble and a shadow, which is never shown in art (until I draw it ;-D) and also umm he's a lot more bald than what is drawn too haha. Also grey hair! His hair isn't a light black, it's just black with salt n peppa. I love it. Oh yeah he doesn't have fingernails on his burnt hand either, only on his thumb? Dunno how that happened since it wasn't like, fire, but boiling water that did it. That had to have been some truly nasty business to get rid of his fingernails... Another thing! Some of his fingers are SORTA fused, or were? It looks like they were surgically separated for the most part? I never asked him about any of that, and never will get the chance to again. Sigh. He also still has SOME hair on his forearm too, but not nearly as much as it woulda been normally (when comparing it to his other arm)

He doesn't really have any other scars besides his burns. Which is a lil shocking cuz he has been through so much shit!!! :-( Probably a lotta mental scars, though

God I miss him so much. My stomach hurts so bad... Oh yeah! It was her birthday yesterday... I got a lot of thoughts on her in addition to the guy I'm talking about too haha. I sorta worship her differently than I do him? My worship towards her is really tame but filled with so much guilt. I'll never be able to mend the pain I've caused her. And she was so cool and inspired me to be who I am, even though it eventually cost us our relationship and friendship... Hmm... I hope she forgives me. I hope a lotta things with her... I hope she's okay, she's in love, she's wealthy, she's comfortable, that she has everything she could possibly dream of. Shit I'd never be able to give her... But when it comes to him? That's like, lust. Pining. It isn't really all out of attraction or sexual interest tho like that's my literal soulmate. I need to do everything and anything with him... I need him by my side... But he'll never find me here :-( he's gone and so am I... It is heart breaking... He's kinda like a cat like, you just get used to how cruel they can be? i feel kind of insane tho like as soon as you presented me with this ask whatever it is i've been meaning to study recently fell out of my brain like goop. where did it go. my classes this semester are introductory physics (did that in high school; probably will not learn anything new) and chemical analysis (will probably learn smth new; was doing very well in it back in 2020 before classes all went online and my grades tanked from 0 attendance), but they don't start for two weeks so that's not ~quite~ current.

hmm. something that i have been kind of latently absorbing at work is probably "what counts as common knowledge" because i fear my time on the internet and niche interests has simply given me a very eclectic array of knowledge, such as the fact that There Are People Who Died In Space back in the 70s (some russian cosmonauts whose rocket hatch failed to close properly when they were detaching from their space station) or the existence of excel formulas that will add numbers for you.

the other day when coding my tumblr blog viewer tho i learned that tumblr's api is kind of overcomplicated nonsense that also doesn't work or gives seemingly incomplete responses sometimes! i solved most of their stupid puzzles but god at what cost.

it's funny that you should ask this question bc a couple weeks(?) ago i was going through the songs i shazamed while in taiwan and there was one that i feel like You might like called 日曜日のラブレター.

but as for a song i would consider to be perfect. hmmm. a while back i asked my sister what she liked abt the songs i will occasionally recommend to her, and she said she liked that they tend to have very detailed audio texture (or something to that effect) and prominent melodies. i think the best example of this would probably be Paprika, by Japanese Breakfast!
