I'm having a blast thinking about dinosaur designs, especially because these are "fantasy"/sci-fi flavored so, it gives me space to be more open with color palettes and some fancy additional details to them! (I hope I can do something with the same quality for Predaking's ref).

for the tfp kids as other au...why Raf is a dragon, and not a Dragon? Like, I assume there´s a difference between those therms. What would make him change into the latter? Also, idk why, but I imagined Miko would end up with Jack, lol. Idk if them three ending as a proper trio is plausible, cause the age difference or not. Just asking cause I have no idea how the Tarn/Miko thing came to be, not that I´m complaining cause I kinda like it lol.

The Tarn/Miko crackship came from this ask about a TFP!Tarn with a soulmate that he found out to be an Autobot-aligned human that's a Wrecker. That's fucking Miko, and the entire concept is hilarious to me, especially with an Other!AU so everyone needs to deal with culture clash and alien biology. (The extended Nakadai family are well aware of their yōkai origins, and the Earthlings are losing their minds that aliens have a soulmate phenomenon as well.)

I did write some thoughts about Jack/Miko pairing, but I basically view them as platonic soulmates/'ride or die' where time and distance is of no consequence. I can see them as a romantic couple, but after a decade of maturing and settling into their own selves. They (along with Raf) would have so many inside jokes about their time with the Autobots.

A dragon is basically an umbrella term for any and all those kinds of draconian beings and various hybrids. But a Dragon is something else completely. They're not born. They're chosen. Such individuals are living acts of theurgy, the bridge between humanity's potential and divine authority of the celestial bodies. They're considered portents of change; something between monster and godkin. Because Dragons embody a specific Aspect from their resurrection, they typically don't live long as no Dragon is made from peace.

Raf (like countless humans) has the potential to become a Dragon, but whether or not it happens is the choice he must face in that crucial moment that many will balk or be consumed by the inferno.

He's also far more aware of what is expected should he gain and lose should he complete the covenant. He's seen what happened to his older sister, who had made a deal with another powerful entity to return back her Earth. Pilar is missing something integral. She's not soulless, but the experienced can tell her fatigue comes from an extremely consuming deal and she always seems preoccupied by something else. Perhaps she could be the first Dragon to die of old age...

On a side note, Dragons are basically part of the answers I built in regards to humanity's relations with Others. Cultures across the world have many tales and folklore that are either enchanted or terrified by the supernatural, so it's part of the "What are the traits they would find beguiling and horrified by?" I'm taking the adaptability to the extreme.

Also just imagine when Megatron's coding calms down and stops assuming everything is a threat that needs to be met with immediate lethal force and finally leaves his quarters. Every bot he meets has to basically be like **P A N I C** while trying to act normal. Not at all paying attention to the chirping little blob on your pauldron with some very telling finials. Never seen anything even remotely close to that in all my functioning so please don't tear my head off Lord Megatron.

And yes I like to think sparkling rides on his shoulder. Maybe special baby magnets? Like the grasping reflex in babies.

Logically, there's probably an instinctive reason why Cybertronian coding would necessitate this murderous intent to anything that could be harmful to sparkling (ie predacons to ancient transformers)

I could also see so much casually cradling Silverlight to Megatron's (and eventually Optimus's) chassis. That sparkling will probably not touch the ground until a way a lot later on, it's too fragile and there's too much that could happen with big mecha walking around.

First, I just wanna say thank you!

Second, go for it. The Other!AU(s) isn't solidly mine. I pulled a lot of inspiration by actual myths and folklore as well as elements from the SCP foundation, Alice in Wonderland media, Welcome of the Nightvale, Elsewhere University, Narnia, Harry Potter, and so much from the horror/fantasy writers and artists here on Tumblr, such as dappermouth and recklessfiction.

It's basically my take on the question: What if the legends and myths were actually real? And if so, what happened?

And I like playing around with it since it leads to more questions: Was there a cause to the downfall of magic on Earth? Or did something force a separation? To what degree? What role did humanity play among such beings? Is that relationship still active? How so? What is the impact of Earth being born of Unicron? How do the Artifacts, especially Primal ones, influence its surroundings? Possible sentience? Shouldn't there be more?

Like the list keeps going, especially if I'm considering the Megatronus-Fell-to-Earth angle and if I want to incorporate a connection between the Fallen and the Darbys.

There's a lot to play with!

Idea

I'm going back and forth with @sweetheart-weeb-33 about the TFEM au, and came across a conundrum: at LC, weapons aren't allowed. Shockwave's left arm, however, is legitimately a full on cannon. Not one that can transform away like some of the blasters we see in the series, but a full on permanently there weapon.

Now, at a rehabilitation place during peace time, this would be no bueno. But, I came up with the idea that it was offered to Shockwave to replace said cannon arm, and he agreed because it was a logical conclusion (and it allows him to do more science). Now, I thought it'd be funny if it was a s2 Megatron situation where it's just. So obviously different from the rest of his frame because while he pretends he doesn't have emotions in tfp he 100% does, and I feel like he'd find this a secret kind of funny

Then it struck me that this means I can give him one arm that's like tfa Shockwave's, extendable and "disguise" colors included

I don’t have a name for this group except “The Girlies” which is NOT official they’re just my girlies who I love

Ninjara is the leader of their little pirate crew. Shes a little cocky and over confident but with the reputation her crew has like. You can’t NOT be. They’re ~the best~ at what they do, which is why they were hired. Right? That being said she’s quick to form and execute plans, and is big on space networking - she HAS the connections, always. Ninjaras also a little ruthless when it comes to hunting, she likes toying with their targets (much to Azrael’s disapproval). Shes obvi my take on Ninjara from the Archie comics so I’m trying to keep some of her design elements while also making her fresh and new. That being said : giant final fantasy sword

Azrael is the strategist of the crew. Also their business manager. Also their PR rep. And their tank when it comes to actually fighting. Azrael works hard to make this a functioning pirating business, often taking Ninjara’s drawn out and absurd plans of attack and turning them into something functioning and worth executing. Shes again another spin on an Archie character but tbh its in name only. For the longest time she was actually Koya but then I was like NAAHH. Tbh her name might still change, whose to say. I also wanna base her design off an Assassin bird :3c

Amperes is the crews weapons expert and engineer. Shes a recluse (funny haha spider joke) and tends to be a bit quieter, but admires her crew mates greatly. Shes also the youngest. Very much weirdo younger sister vibes. Her exoskeleton acts as armor, and she’s built extra robotic arms for herself (very Invader Zim/TFP Airachnid in vibe). I’m giving her a loose spider vibe when it comes to design. It’s so funny she’s actually the first one I made of this crew and she had a COMPLETELY different purpose but over the years I was like “fuck plan A, we’re going with plan b. Amperes is staying tho” she is technically my OC but I don’t see her existing outside of this AU

They’re all aliens (not mutants) and I’m still thinking through their home world but yknow . Now you know them. Here are my gorls.

Okay okay the ratchet first fp au was equally heartrending but also perfect and thank you so much for going into so much detail to expound on my silly little fantasy, I love it! But if you don’t mind, I’m gonna poke you with one more question that’s bugged me ever since MC woke up and ratch op and bee had to catch her up on the last 30 years: they mentioned unicron and Optimus’ amnesia (which is another au you’re portraying marvelously well btw! I love shiny and new to pieces!), as well as a couple of the other tfp eps, but I don’t recall them mentioning synth-en? Like, at all? (Unless I totally missed it?) Between ratchet’s problems and op’s withdrawal, I figured that the tension between them like the scene where they fight and ratchet accuses op of being too soft to take out megatron and that’s why they lost cliff jumper, combined with MC’s unconsciousness, op’s guilt about it, and ratchet’s (partial?) blame for op putting her in that condition to start with and envy knowing he would’ve had more restraint and cared for her more in his mind (and them both missing her terribly and being lost without her), would kind of cause a boiling point between them? (Fun fact if you didn’t know it but the tfp writers had tossed around the idea of ratchet blaming op for elita one’s death instead of cliffjumper, but they had the Orion pax arc coming up and they didn’t want to add anymore characters or smth so they nixed it) So if ratchet spews about mc (and elita??) to op, does op snap too in this case? Do they actually come to blows? Does op even get mad and rise to the bait or does it just break his heart bc now ratchet is turning on him too and pointing out every mistake he’s made and ratchets never been that mean to him before and wouldn’t dream of saying any of it under normal circumstances but is so hyped up he no longer has a filter? I am reeling here at the possibilities! I am so fricken curious bc your unique individual characterizations of them as well as their mutual adoration for mc would give so many delicious untapped layers to that episode - and again you don’t have to answer this at all but I would love to hear your thoughts! :) thank you so much for your time!

A : anon thank you for the praise about everything esp. shiny n new like goddamn I love that little thing so much, B : I had no idea about Elita in TFP until you mentioned that and I'm very glad they left that out bc I would absolutely have not fucking survived that my heart's in pieces just from reading that, and C :

I think they would have started fighting. As in, Ratchet, with 0 filter, would start laying it out how mad he is about what happened to you. He would blame it on Optimus, and at the time, he would feel totally justified in saying it.

-Optimus would be barely able to hold back his rage, but manages to restrain himself. Tells Ratchet he needs to go home, let that crap work through his system, and recharge before talking to him again.

-Ratchet would then suggest Optimus frag him because that tends to knock people unconscious for indefinite periods of time.

-Optimus looses it. Lunges for him, grabs him and fucking throttles him.

-And the second his servos wrap around his throat, freezes. Because he touched someone. He touched someone he cared about, and he did it with the intent to hurt them.

-He goes catatonic.

-Ratchet, slightly sobered, has to pry his servos off of him, digit by digit.

-Once he does, he leaves in a huff, runs off to punch Megatron in the face like he originally intended.

-But not before ducking out of sight and having the quickest, filthiest guilty-wank of his life. Doesn’t matter how mad you are. Angrier-than-god-Optimus touching you will make you cream your jeans, and marching through deception territory with a spontaneous overload looming on the horizon probably isn’t a great strategy.

-Once he gets the shit kicked out of him and finally sobers up, and realizes that entire exchange not only happened, but happened in front of Bumblebee, he decides this was, in fact, the second worst thing he’s ever fucking done. He calculates the damage done to his filters, finds that the synth-en was mostly processed by other organs, chugs the rough hi-grade equivalent of 2 handles of bourbon, and blacks out for 72 hours straight.

-Neither of them ever speak about it again.

-To each other.

-They both tell you at different times after you’ve woken up

-you bring it up to Bee eventually after a loooooong-ass time.
