(Based off this idea I had for TotK)

Link stared morosely at his reflection in the dark water. A tired, pale young man looked back at him, face gaunt and drawn, eyes devoid of the light that used to make them shine so brightly people would always comment on it. His forehead was covered with a cloth, originally white but steadily staining red and brown from dirt and scratching at the monstrous malice hidden beneath it. The reminder of the demon king’s power over him usually stayed closed unless Ganondorf took control, but Link didn’t even want to see any trace of it.

What really got his attention, though, was his hair. Dry and frail as it was, he still had it in the traditional Sheikah top knot that he'd always worn before his death. But he...

He didn't deserve such an honor anymore. Not for the situation he was in, not for what he was about to commit to, not for any of it.

Slowly, he reached up, a knife in his hand. He grasped the bun fiercely, hands trembling as he took a shaky breath. His youth passed through his mind, years of training and honor and dedication to the royal family, to Hyrule. Service and discipline, tradition and beauty all wrapped together, filling his heart with warmth in the cold damp of the Depths. And then he held his breath and his resolve, and cut through the knot.

He felt his hair fall around his face in an instant, and his heart fell with it. The memories of old faded, the light and warmth ebbing away into the darkness around him. He gripped the cut hair tightly, dropping the knife and curling in on himself.

Holding the hair close to his chest, he closed his eyes, promising himself, Someday I will be again worthy to wear my hair as my people do.

Someday.

The cold of the Depths seeped into his bones, making him feel so utterly alone. But even here, even in this hellish pit of gloom, he refused to give in.

He refused.

Opening his eyes, Link slowly rose and headed back to Ganondorf's location. When the demon king caught sight of him, he watched Link with a quiet curiosity. Link approached him slowly before kneeling and offering the hair.

Ganondorf seemed confused, but he accepted the gift nonetheless. Link explained, "It's the pride of the Sheikah to bear the eye of our people, and to wear our hair as our ancestors did. I... am no longer Sheikah."

"What makes you say that?" Ganondorf asked, glancing at the bun before looking back at the teenager.

Link bit his tongue and swallowed hard, forcing a calm expression on his face. It came out a bit more as a determined glare rather than a defiant one, so he'd take it. Looking up to make eye contact, he said, "Because I'm yours. You wish me to be Gerudo, to be prince of this land, do you not? I can't be both."

Ganondorf's face was unexpectedly... surprised. Link had expected some sick pleasure to cross the man's features, but instead he looked... touched?

Link hated literally everything about this.

He wanted his father figure back. He wanted the family he'd gained back. He wanted Hyrule to be at peace, he wanted to protect his land and those who inhabited it. He wanted all of that to align.

But it wouldn't. He knew it wouldn't.

You've assassinated people before, he told himself, reassured himself. This is no different.

But it was entirely different. He wasn't sneaking up on a threat and eliminating it. He was convincing that threat to trust him, he was living a lie, and that threat was the man he viewed as a father. The war had been awful enough, but this was so much worse.

Ganondorf smiled, he smiled so warmly, he walked up to Link and put a hand on his shoulder, guiding him to stand. "It's good to have you back, my boy."

The Sash is a prominent ceremonial regalia worn with pride. Certain colours of thread represent lives that were lost, while others signal connectedness as humans and resilience through trauma. All the threads woven together spell out part of history, but no single thread defines the whole story.

The Eagle Feather

The Eagle Feather represents that the Creator’s spirit is among us. It is depicting pointing upwards which mirrors how it is held when one speaks their Truth.

The Inuksuit

Inuksuit are used as navigational guides for Inuit people and link to tradition.

Here's a Valuable Part of My Practice

I just learned you can change the color of titles. My life is changed for the BETTER!!

Anyway! One part of my practice that I hold so near and dear to my chest is the concept of Hero Work.

Being a Hellenic Pagan, I work very closely with a lot of aspects of Greek mythology specifically. I have worked closely with a few different Greek heroes and it's very different than working with Deities.

Hero Work Summarized

I tend to equate Hero Work with ancestor veneration. It's very similar in the sense that you're honoring souls, not divine beings. Therefore, it should be treated differently. I still set up smaller altars for them, and little trinkets and things. The two heroes I work with are Patroclus and Odysseus, so I set my copy of The Iliad and The Odyssey next to their altar back when I had the space for one. The altar was a little shoebox that had their names written on the inside in Greek, and when I had people over, I'd shut the box with their offerings inside and put it away somewhere to protect it.

How Can I Do Hero Work?

First, I identified if any heroes were reaching out to me. I typically do this with a tarot reading, though, everyone has their own methods so you should use whatever method works best for you! Always make sure you're asking clarifying questions though. Ask questions about their myth, specific ones to help vet and ensure you're working with a spirit and not a trickster or dangerous entity.

Second, I try to discern what the spirit wants to aid me with. Lots of these spirits, especially Heroes, are there to help guide you and help you learn valuable lessons. Patroclus entered my life to help me with self-care and learning about first aid and other medical facts. He also helped me learn that I don't have to be physically strong to still be strong. Odysseus continues to help me with my journey of physical strength and he's helped me learn how to be a little bit more cunning and witty. They're there to help you, try learning these reasons early on! It helps with the relationship!

Third, remember that they may be very in-and-out in your life. Patroclus only ever interacts with me when I'm on my college campus and Odysseus typically pops in when I'm going through a rough patch in life. They may not be consistent in your life, and that is okay. Like physical relationships, communication with the metaphysical is key.

You can treat hero work however you'd like. If you want to equate it more with working with Deities, go for it. But remember that these are mortal souls that are more aligned with ours than they are divine, with some exceptions (think of heroes who are demigods or gave up their mortality for immortality). This brings a level of humanity with the partnership and it's very refreshing. I can joke with Odysseus about things that Apollo or Neptune may not understand. I like to have fun with my practice. Otherwise, what's the point?

So... What Are The Benefits of Hero Work?

I've found that Hero work is particularly fun because of the humanity of it. Odysseus and Patroclus, while they may be works of fiction, have to be grounded in some form of reality. Based on some warriors and soldiers in the wars they come from. So they're... a bit better when it comes to expectations. Not that my deities are misunderstanding, but sometimes it can be hard for a divine being to understand human limitations. At least, in my experience.

Another one of my favorite parts about hero work is simply talking with them. Clairaudience makes this easier than it is for others. I didn't have a roommate in my first year of college, and this meant that I was able to have a plethora of conversations back and forth with Patroclus and Odysseus, and they're always the best!

Obviously, your practice is yours, and it will be different from mine which is different from yours which is different from someone else reading this post. At the end of the day, do what works best for you. Do what works best for you and your lifestyle, because not everyone can be as open about your practice as me or others on the platform.

In addition, the Kh-59 guided air missile, two Ka-52 attack helicopters and another Su-25 attack aircraft were turned into scrap metal. In total, during this period, Russia carried out 4,500 missile strikes and more than 8,000 air raids. But we are fighting, we will shoot down more.

I am grateful to everyone who participated in the fundraising for the "catchers" of such "Shaheds". Only on the U24 platform those are 665,000 people from 70 countries. Today, preserving the memory of the exploits of our ancestors means protecting their achievements. We remember the expulsion of the Nazis, approaching the expulsion of the Rashists.

Evil, which seemed to have been finally defeated and burned to the ground in 1945, is reborn from the ashes 80 years later. Gets on its feet. It becomes possible. How did it turn out? Imperceptibly. And very quickly. Just as one day changes another. Instantly. A new day and a new evil are coming instantly. At the very moment when the world does not notice. Some are sleepy, some are fast asleep. Some are not paying attention. Some do not care. And in general, everyone is silent and thinks the same: I will not be affected. The war is somewhere far away. Somewhere in Transnistria. This is the problem of Moldovans. Somewhere in Abkhazia and Ossetia. This is the problem of Georgians. Somewhere in Crimea and Donbas. This is the problem of Ukrainians. We will not be affected. We know how evil can break into your house in the last century, eight years ago and eight months ago. Violate the western borders or come from the north, east and annexed Crimea. Attack peaceful cities with bombs or cruise missiles.

Mine the Dnipro HPP or seize the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Drop bombs despite the red cross or the "Children" inscription. Steal grain according to the "Hunger Plan" or threaten the entire planet with hunger.

Abduct and deport people. Abduct and deport children. The form of evil has changed, but the essence has remained unchanged.

Evil always begins in the same way. The invaders call themselves liberators. The invasion of one's army is called self-defense. As 80 years ago, the Ukrainian people stand up for the defense of their native land. And the enemy's blitzkrieg plan becomes a failure.

Evil always acts in the same way. Kills civilians, assuring that it hits military targets only. Arranges blockades and filtration camps. And Syrets becomes Olenivka. Destroys cities and villages. And Koryukivka becomes Bucha.

But sooner or later war crimes become known. The reaction of the world becomes painful. The policy of appeasement becomes a tough countermeasure.

The evil finds itself in a zugzwang.

So evil always ends the same way. The occupier becomes a capitulator. The invader becomes a fugitive. War criminals become defendants, aggression becomes a sentence. Destruction becomes reparations. Enemy equipment becomes museum exhibits. The feats of grandfathers become the victories of grandchildren.

The day of the liberation of Ukraine from the Nazis on the 247th day of our struggle becomes a symbol: the result of our struggle definitely becomes the liberation of our Ukraine. The captured territory becomes free. This has always been the case in the past, and will certainly be the case in the future. In the future of Kherson, Donbas, Luhansk, Crimea. Because our land always becomes free. Resistance becomes pride. Struggle becomes victory. And Ukraine becomes united!

Today, Russia's only tactic has become terror. Defeat is the only possible outcome of such tactics. Terror became a proof of their weakness and a test of our resilience.

We will not be broken by shelling. The enemy's rockets in our sky are less scarier than hearing the enemy's anthem on our land. We are not afraid of the dark.

The darkest times for us are not without light, but without freedom. Our warriors are strong, volunteers are tireless, partners are reliable, and people are indomitable.

The second army of the world will become smaller and smaller. The losses of the enemy will become bigger and bigger. I am confident that enemy propaganda does not work, provocations do not work, threats do not scare. Any hard winter will not scare us as well.

We know that the darkest night comes before dawn. We know that all invaders flee our land in the same way. Gauleiters and self-appointed "governors" end up the same.

Her name is Tia and she's a reincarnate isekai. Maturity-wise, she's about middle 20's, but her physical and chronological ages are two wildly different numbers. She has memories of our world and of the LOZ games. She remembered her past life at the age of seven. She doesn't like her birth name. Her priority is always Link. Her moral basis is mostly "A kingdom that writes its peace in the blood of children is a kingdom that deserves to burn." Tia has since spread this belief. She also believes in learning self-defence and is a decent swordswoman. She keeps her hair long and in braids.

And she reincarnated as Flora.

Tia calls her past life 'visions' and plays on the whole 'prophecy runs in the family' to get people to listen to her. This allowed her to save a lot of lives during the calamity, but rather than falling protecting her, Link fell protecting other citizens. Tia had to do the whole century-long calamity thing, but since she also knew about her time powers, she managed to save the champions, the backup she ensured they had on the Beasts, and several pockets of survivors. She also managed to act as Link's travelling companion, guiding him and helping when she could. (She couldn't take full human form so she travelled with him as a fox spirit. Link nicknamed her Foxy.)

(I like to think that the gods aren't stupid enough to give Zeldas obscene amounts of power while they're still kids and growing so they either have to grow to the age of wisdom [17] or Ganon needs to be a threat to Hyrule. They still gotta earn it though. Flora turned 17 but didn't earn it until Link fell. Tia managed to unlock it a bit earlier, but she unlocked all of her power and her body nearly tore itself apart due to barely not being physically old enough to handle it, leaving scars all over her body like cracks.)

She also warned people about the Upheaval, the Demon King and prepared them for it. Hyrule walked into that particular paradox, ready and prepared. In terms of certain side-quests, Tia told people why she blocked off certain things or why she was borrowing certain items.

She also warned people about an imposter (IYKYK) and made sure she could be identifiable by wearing something green. Her imposter never wore green. And she told Link everything she could and wrote it all down for him, helping him in any way she could. She also warned him about her fate if things played out like her 'visions'. Which they did, but Link had full permission to use whatever he needed from her (IYKYK). She prepared the sages, past and future, for the long term. She always made sure to ask for help and never implied about Link being the one to face Ganon, making sure he had a choice. (She really hoped Revali would take up the mantle of Wind Sage, but knows she can't control fate and prepares for all outcomes. Tulin is still the Sage and Tia is so proud and so pissed.)

Tia does everything she can to protect Link but always gives him the choice. Link is her priority since 'none of her ancestors ever really did so.' (Tia can count on one hand how many of her ancestors she actively likes and still have fingers left over. [Rauru and Sonia don't count])

So take all of this and then throw her into Sage's Hyrule.

People that say that hatred is the most powerful emotion of humanity or something in that line clearly know nothing about humanity and it really makes me sad.

No, my brothers, sisters, siblings, hatred is not our strength. Love is. Since the day the first of our ancestors appeared, love was what kept them alive. The way they treated their equals, made sure they were as healthy as possible in that time, helped them survive by any means and fed them was what kept humanity going. Our kindness for each other, the collective human thought of protecting those that are by our side, behind or in front of us, the love we share for each one of those around us, THAT is the most powerful thing that ever existed and will ever exist.

Love is the truest and most powerful emotion that will ever exist, because we can't stop loving, in life or in death. The way a mother take care of her kid, the way lovers hold each other even in death and even the way a friend holds your hand, ALL OF THAT IS LOVE.

Of course, hate exist, suffering does too and sometimes you can even feel scared of loving for whatever reason, but you can choose to fight these things, find ways of prevail over all of them. But love? The more you try to destroy it, the stronger it gets. When the first tyrant fell from their throne, love was there, guiding the hands of those who did it, guiding the minds that demanded freedom.

Wherever love exists, hate, suffering, fear and tyranny never survive for long.

So please, if anyone who believes that any of these emotions are stronger than the love of humanity for their brethren, please, reconsider. For it was love, at some moment of our existence as a species, that allowed us to be what we are now.

“For the last 1,600 years, Christians around the world remember the last days of Jesus' life during Holy Week. Today is Holy Saturday. Holy Saturday remembers the day Jesus rested in his tomb. We know relatively little about what happened during the day Jesus lay buried in his tomb.

We know that it was a Sabbath day, a day of rest for faithful Jews. And we know that the religious leaders were afraid. Jesus had claimed he would rise from the dead on the third day (Matthew 27:62-63). They were worried Jesus' disciples might try to steal his body and pretend he rose from the dead, making their problems worse. So they asked the Roman governor to post guards at Jesus' tomb to prevent any false resurrections (Matthew 27:64-65). Not much else is known about what happened on this particular Saturday.

And that might be part of this day's significance. Jesus is dead because nothing is supposed to happen. There are no more miracles to be done, no more Jewish laws to fulfill, no more sin to atone for, and no more powers to fight. On the cross Jesus said, 'It is finished' (John 19:30). Everything Jesus came to do, he did. So with nothing left to accomplish, Jesus rested. At the very least, this means we can rest too. One of Jesus' ancestors, King David, wrote: '...my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your faithful one see decay' (Psalm 16:9-10). God had once promised David that his dynasty would last forever, and even after he rested in death, God would raise one of his sons to rule God's people forever (2 Samuel 7:12-13). David was confident that God would preserve, protect, and provide for his dynasty even through and beyond death. He knew that his death would not be the end of his dynasty or God's promises.

Holy Saturday is a day of mourning, but not a day without hope. Jesus' day in the tomb reminds us that we will all know death. We will watch the death of our loved ones. Eventually, we will all fall asleep one last time. But Holy Saturday is good news because Jesus announces that death is never more than a nap. In Jesus, death is a day of rest before the dawn of a new creation and a much needed break before a new era of renewed and resurrection life.

Types of Spirit Guides and How To Connect With Them.

Everyone has spirit guides, whether they choose to believe it or not. These entities help us by giving us advice, protecting us, and, as their name implied, guide us on our journey throughout life. While all spirit guides are helpful, they are not necessarily the all the same type of spirit.

Now What Is a Spirit Guide? Spirit guides are non-physical creatures who have agreed to support you in navigating the material realm and guiding you toward your highest potential. Your guides, can take on several different forms. They may appear as ancestors, animal spirits, voices, or visions, they always resonate at a higher frequency than humans. They can be thought of as light beings, energy, or spirits who have elevated to a spiritual world.

What Do Spirit Guides Do? Even if you don’t know how to “access” your spirit guides, they are definitely there to help you. They will try to communicate with you in dreams, signs, and symbols. These creatures will occasionally leave minor clues to lead you to a larger purpose. Your guides may guard you against negativity and damaging thought cycles, guide you through anxious or depressive thoughts, boost creativity, and help you connect with your soul purpose or even help you to achieve in life what you or others may think is impossible.

Here are some different types of spirit guides, and how to best connect with them.

Ancestral Spirits: Ancestral spirits covers a wide range of deceased people. An ancestor can be a recently departed loved one, like a grandparent. They may be distant ancestors from generations past. These spirits work to support you from the afterlife. Their assistance is often very practical like helping you find jobs, homes, or relationships. Divination tools are helpful for connecting with ancestral spirits. You may wish to create an ancestor altar. (See post on altars) Make offerings to your ancestors, and, when you have need of their advice, light a white candle use a form of dividation, to obtain their advice. When you are through, be sure to thank them for their help.

Angels: Angels come in different types. Each of these vary slightly in their power and scope:

1 Guardian angels are with you from birth, regardless of your religion. You can call upon them for help at any time.

2 Helpful angels are spirits who look for people in need. They may dip in and out of your life depending on your circumstances.

3 Archangels are the most powerful tier of angel. They don't attach themselves to people, but can be called on when needed. Each archangel has their own specialty.

There are many more.

Angels are fond of communicating through synchronicity. If you begin to notice a lot of tiny coincidences in your life, this may be angels trying to get through to you. If you get a loud high pitch ringing in your ear it could be angel talking. One of these coincidences is the appearance of "angel numbers." You can request help from angels at any time simply by asking. If you wish, you may also invoke the protection of your guardian angel by anointing a Guardian Angel candle with Angel or holy oil and lighting it before you enter a risky situation. If you find yourself in need of an archangel's help, there are specific ways to call upon their powers.

Animal Guides: Animal guides are different and should not be confused with familiars. Familiars are living animals that aids as magical assistants to witches or other similar practices. In a Native American religions. Animal guides, ate seen as a spirit of any animal who may have something to teach you or help you with. This can be a beloved pet who passed away, or an animal you feel drawn to. Connecting with your animal guides isn't always easy and the best way to receive messages from them that I know is to strengthen your intuition, awareness, try to remember your dreams. These guides tend to leave subtle signs and reminders of their presence in your life, like finding a feather on a hike or appearing in a dream. Practice keeping your eyes open for signs from these spirit helpers. Sometimes they will have a live version of them come around you or follow you, for me it was a eagle I had two follow me when I was young. Then seen another years later some how a part of them show up in my life.

Ascended Masters: Ascended masters are different. They humans who were alive at one time and have reached enlightenment or otherwise transcended human existence. For instance figures like 'Jesus and the a few of the 'Buddhas, or 'Gandhi act as ascended masters. They are powerful figures when alive and in the spirit world and act as teachers to the living. All of the ascended masters were devoted to their spirituality in life. (The best way to connect with them is to cultivate some kind of regular spiritual practice. It doesn't matter what religion you practice, as long as you regularly make time for it. You can make a spiritual altar for them in your home. Light white candles and some incense. Most people have only a few types of spirit guides. You may have guardian angels and animal guides, but may not come in contact with helper angels or the ascended masters but there there. Some spirits will be with you through out your whole life, while others may come and go as they are needed. No matter who your guides are, connect with them whenever you are struggling with something in life. Their gentle guidance and protection will help you.

Your Spiritual Self: Whatever happens, you’ll always have access to this guide. It’s not a distinct spirit-that looks like you; but it’s the part of you that’s strongly connected to the divine. Your higher self is a wise and kind guide that leads you ahead. (It's the little you that sits on your shoulders that tells you right from wrong. Kind of like a conscience.) They also have access to a lot more information than your conscious mind does—all you have to do is tap in and you’ll have access to that knowledge! (This could be your intuition or your “sixth sense.” your psychic abilities) Recognizing it in whatever form it takes might be your most effective instrument.

Wrapping Up: Your guides want to build a connection with you. Be patient, even if you’re having problems connecting or receiving clear messages. If you take the time pray, talk to them then you will not only develop a stronger bond with your spiritual team but also with yourself. Don’t try to rush it take your time. You can’t force your guides to connect with you. Because everyone has a different experience with these kinds of connections, it’s important to be patient, pay attention to even the smallest signs and wait for your relationships with your guides to be strengthen.

How I do dream divination

One way that I love to do divination is by analyzing my dreams! This can be very hard, because the first step is to remember your dreams. It’s a skill that takes a while to get the hang of, but once you do have it. It will help with opening a new door of divination experience to you.

What is dream divination?

First let’s go over what dream divination is and isn’t. Dream divination is exactly what it sounds and reads like. Doing divination with the dreams that you remember or that stick out to you. Dream divination is not divinating every dream. Sometimes you have dreams that are meant to be interpreted and sometimes you dream to just dream. The brain is weird and amazing at the same time, but not everything is spiritual and is just your brain just doing brain things.

Is dream divination safe? Is it beginner friendly?

Is it safe? Yes and no. Don’t worry you won’t get hurt physically. But, I believe that when we are sleeping we are at one of our most vulnerable states spiritually. It is to me like basically opening a door to let in the spirits you wish to communicate with, this could be deities, guides, angels, ancestors, etc. It only really becomes “unsafe” when you don’t close that door or have a bouncer by the door letting in who can enter and keeping out who can’t. What will happen if you don’t close that door or you don’t have a filter? In my experience is that some spirits or energies will enter my space and basically feed off me while I’m sleeping. I might get nightmares, or really weird, uncanny type dreams. And the next morning I’m more tired than I normally would be. But, nothing physical has ever happened to me. So, is it beginner safe? Yes, BUT ONLY if you know how to do basic protection.

Why do I do dream divination?

I personally love dream divination. It is something that not only works me spiritually, but mentally as well. When I am doing dream divination I am testing my memory as well as my interpretation skills. I am testing my knowledge on symbols, omens, and helping my memory improve while doing so. My spirit team which consists of my deities, guides, and spirits I work with on either the regular or have a huge impact on my practice seem to prefer communicating this way. They send me signs of lessons or messages they have for me, they will send dreams of offerings they want from me. My guides actually came to me in a dream, to answer some questions that I had for them. Aphrodite and a nature spirit both have sent me dreams of offerings and offerings rituals to tell me what they wanted.

How to do dream divination:

1. Set up some night time protections. This will not only help put a filter up for who can come talk to you, but it might also help you feel more relaxed and safe before bed. So win-win. This can be done with something basic like a crystal or little bag of protective herbs. I would also recommend using stones or herbs for divination, specifically for prophetic dreams, later to help encourage more dreams to get more practice. But, only after doing it a couple times on your own so you understand how you do dream divination.

2. Set an intention. Before, falling asleep I announce either in my head or out loud that I wish to communicate with (insert spirit) tonight in my dreams. And for them to send me signs that I will understand and recognize in my dream message. This will help whatever spirit you wish to communicate with to know you want to specifically talk to. I asked for signs that I will understand and recognize because it helped build my understanding on what to pay attention to in a dream.

3. Fall asleep, specifically REM sleep if possible. You get dreams at any point, but you get your most vivid dreams in REM sleep. But, do not worry. If you find if difficult to get into REM sleep or don’t have the most vivid dreams during REM sleep, you can still do dream divination. It can help if you know how to lucid dream, I’ve always been able to do it, but it took some time to actually get a good grip on the skill to use it to my advantage. This is not required, but might help. I’ve found that I’ve become more aware and remember more when I’m lucid dreaming. You might want to try learning that skill to try in combination with dream divination, just to see what it does for you. If you can’t do it or don’t want to, you don’t have to.

4. Figure out how your dream divination works. When you do dream divination, it is really important to be in tune with your intuition in some way. I actually find it very hard to be intuitive, so I understand if you have trouble with this. The best way to get into touch with your intuition is listening to your body. But, that’s another post for another day. When you have figured out you intuition process, apply that to your dream divination. I realized after years of doing it, mine is right when I wake up. You know the couple of seconds where you are the grumpiest person in the world if someone wakes you up too early? Yeah, that stage, is when I’m the most intuitive. When I woke up from meeting my guides I instantly thought “I just met my guides” when I had my offering dreams I thought “Aphrodite wants this”. I then felt myself reaching for my phone to write it down. I believe that whatever you remember from these dreams where you have a “this was a dream message or divination” is a message. Anything that sticks out in your memory, like the rest is murky but this one or these few parts is your message. From the smallest details to the biggest.

5. WRITE IT DOWN! This is the second most important step right behind protection. Write down your dreams. Trust me, you will not remember the details like you do 10 minutes from now or after your shower or after breakfast. Write it down immediately. Save yourself the headache.

6. Interpret. This is the fun part. From what you have written down, now is the time to pull out books, websites, other people‘s experiences. If you had a conversation with a cat look up what a cat’s significance in dreams are and what they mean in general and in other cultures, not to take their interpretation but it is always good to know, then think about the conversation. What were you talking about? How were you having the conversation? Were you interrupting the cat? Was the cat interrupting you? Think of questions like that and find the answers to them if you can.

What is worship?

When many hear the term worship they immediately equate it to deity and thus themselves being beneath them. It’s a religious societal stereotype spread around a lot in the west (I can’t speak for other places since I don’t live there). However the fact of the matter is worship has little to do with the importance of an individuals status and more to do with what they bring to the table that interests us, works with us, or influences us. Musicians, artists, and writers get worshipped by many adoring fans simply because they put out there talents that inspire us and make us feel good. Not because they are better than us or because they are deity. Many pop culture pagans follow a belief system around what those talented mortals do and draw magick from the symbolisms and the feelings they instill.

Another heavily practiced form of worship is with Ancestors. They are worshipped because they lived life and are thus considered wiser than the living. They have learned lessons we haven’t experienced yet. That’s why they are looked to for guidance, protection, love, and harmony. They aren’t above us but they are different from us. Ancestral veneration is a very common practice among many. A practice that requires offerings, prayers, honor, and devotion. Things normally seen in line with deity worship.

What is “work with”

To work with a deity means to allow them into your practice. To call them into your space so that they may lend their energy to you and your magick. This is not the same as worship. By definition worship has nothing to do with stuff like this. You can work with a deity but not show them worship, although many practitioners consider this disrespectful and advise against it. This is because many believe you give worship in exchange for their services. While I myself agree with this sentiment, I also believe it perpetrates another stereotype within the magical world. That a deity is something placed on a pedestal above us.

You see, a very important thing to remember when dealing with worship and magick is that the living have mastery over the physical world while the dead have mastery over the metaphysical, and if you’re working deity back into the mix they to become a master over the metaphysical or spiritual world. Whatever we dwell is where we govern. This means that we have the say in listening to those ancestors. We have the say in listening to that deity. In fact without our beliefs to feed them deity would essentially cease to exist. Working with them is about a partnership. They give energy from the metaphysical and you bring energy from the physical. This union creates powerful magick that many practitioners enjoy working with.

I think where lots of people get confused is with the fact that many of us seek help from the spirit world. Thus we gain deity and other spirit guides as a form of teacher. With this in mind we must understand that as a society we are trained from an early age to view a teacher as someone of greater importance that you must respect. Of course you should always show respect without a doubt but this doesn’t mean that a teacher’s life is worth more than their students. Every life is measured equally in the spirit world, this includes the lives of spirit beings such as deity. They need our belief and our worship, but we don’t need their lessons if we do not wish them. However they can offer an array of knowledge and magick that can definitely help. That’s why many practitioners seek out deity and many deity seek out practitioners whom they think would benefit from working with them.

In closing I would like to say that working with a deity is not mandatory for any witch. If you choose to though it’s best to show respect and give something in exchange. You wouldn’t be expected to work at your job for free so why expect the same of them? Likewise if you feel more comfortable placing them on a pedestal above you then that is your right to do so and is just as valid as anyone else’s choice. It’s important to feel comfort in our magick. Let nobody force you to practice what you don’t feel connected with.

Lastly, I would like to clarify that this is my UPG and is in no way meant to govern how other beliefs and cultures utilize the spirit world. I believe that all deity are created through the beliefs of the people, that’s why this way of thinking makes sense to me and why someone else’s belief holds just as much power for them.

Honestly it could be that something happened (even not directly with them but in your past, and made you behave differently and close off or fear being judged) or it's simply that you don't believe too much in yourself (you know... I think you totally should do that: we're all different, there ain't no worse or better. Those who are "better" than you in math may be worse than you in gym, you know... it's only differences, things some of us may like more and do better than others who may need to work more to get the same result). Anyway, it feels like you took this situation for what it seems to you "they will never like me" or anything on that wavelenght, but if you dared to come a bit closer, to try and let them in, to see the real them, to turn on the light (also on you, and be vulnerable about your fears), you would see a different reality. Sometimes we don't let communication do its job, or we use it wrongly by just saying things halfway and hoping the other understands what we mean but... the other doesn't have a crystal ball. They cannot read our mind, only our body language and random fearful speeches (and both of these do yell specific subconscious messages to the other). Take courage, be brave and try. Be the first starting a communication, and don't be scared to have to hold it first for a while. Let yourself know the other, be interested in them, and let them do the same. Some walls need effort to be thrown down, just learn to let go off the ones that you aren't supposed to bring down. Be respectful of them and you too (learn when it's right to give up and try with someone else).

These may be people (for only a bunch of you it can be one person) from your childhood, people you have been knowing for a while; people from a past life of yours or even your ancestors looking over you.

Their purpose is to support you, to help you go through life's hardships and joy, and feel less alone. Actually: you're not alone, they're always there, they never leave your side, either if you acknowledge them or not. They're always there for you. I do feel a very supporting warm friendly/brotherly/loving protective energy around you, no matter if you can't see these people yet, they're around you energetically. They help you, guide you, try to lessen your stress and think straight, be more clear and determined, balanced, in your mind and how you experience life. They're teaching you a lot. I do think for most of you it's your Guides or ancestors we're talking about, but it could be people from your soul family you still have to meet. They are now literally trying to guide you through some harsh decision you need to take, or out of a pretty difficult moment in which you may have felt stuck and fallen back into some old mental pattern that you need to leave behind, in order to be able to experience new things. New beautiful things. I think they're also trying to put someone on your path in some way, or you on the path of someone else, so that maybe you two can help each other. Just keep being hopeful and don't worry: things will change the moment you allow yourself to think they can and take the right action (starting with leaving the past where it belongs).

These are people or energies that may be spiritual or can be part of your ancestors/Guides/Angels group.

They are probably guiding you through an awakening or some sort of tower moment. They're trying to bring clarity in your life, helping you see through all the overwhelming emotions and the overthinking. They're helping you see the light again from in between the darkness, by moving their wings around you. Always rely on them, ask them for help and guidance. And if you have someone in the 3d that you can consider a mentor or that you feel you can talk to and ask for help to, please do that. Especially if it's a community and you feel better after talking with the people there. Seek comfort, you need that at this time. Tese energies want you to trust your inner guidance too. To trust that things are only momentarily and that you can get out of this situation. Despite it feels scary and you feel lost. Things will improve. They're always by your side, giving you signs of their presence and signs that can help you get out of this moment (which may be happening many times in your life, but if it's the first or one of the firsts, it may be pretty scary, ik) and understand it. These energies and people are always connected to you (or you can reach for them anytime you feel down), call on them if you need help in making things clear, if you cannot see the light. They'll guide you through. Try. Give it a try.

DISCERNMENT

discernment, especially in the spiritual/witchy community is such a crucial, yet under-covered topic. a lot of us when first starting out can really struggle with this, myself DEFINITELY included, so i thought i would pop on and give some of my favourite tips for practicing discernment in your practice, whether you work with deities, spirit guides, angels, the deceased, or any other spirits.

before i start, i would like to emphasise the importance of protection work when it comes to working with spirits - whatever that looks like for you. this could include warding, veiling, calling in the elements, using an oil or incense, or visualisation. (here’s a good post covering this!!!)

now. the “type” of discernment that applies to you will vary slightly depending on your chosen method of spirit work. but in general, there are a few key questions you can ask yourself:

does the answer or knowledge i am receiving right now make sense in respect to my situation or question? if so, then it may be a genuine message. if it’s a bit murky or cryptic, maybe pull an extra card or ask an extra question - if they answer is completely different then it might just be your mind rather than an actual communication

FACT CHECK! test the spirit you are communicating with! this sounds strange, but you can ask them something you didn’t know or completely understand before you started, then check to see if it matches facts. this could be asking for their real name, where they’re from, where they were born (this is a good one for ancestor work), how they died, or how old they were when they died. if they really are the spirit you think they are or are saying they are, they will be confident and correct in their answers

personally, i am claircognizant, so for me, if i receive an answer and i’m not 100% sure or feel uncertain, i know it’s my own imagination, whereas if it feels concrete and solid in my mind that generally tends to be a genuine message coming through

i am lucky to have many friends in the spiritual community, and frequently ask them questions or get them to fact check or even just confirm something for me, and this can be really helpful if it’s available to you. my ask box is always open if you want a second, objective opinion

trust your gut!! if you truly feel like you have had an honest conversation with a spirit, then you probably have! if you feel uncertain or unsure, then it might be just your mind getting in the way.

during your practice, try to have a safe space - like a quiet area that you can visualise or imagine yourself in, where you can come to to sit and reflect or regroup. i always find that helpful if i feel my mind is taking over

lastly, keep a journal or record of your practice - then you can check it later on and see if what you received was right or turned out how you thought it would, or if it didn’t.

it is through our mind and through our imagination that spirit will communicate with us. in the end, remember it takes time and lots of practice to be able to discern effectively. remind yourself that YOU are the magick. YOU are the oracle, and the divine lives within you. you don’t need the fancy tools, decks or objects to practice magick. your mind is the tool. all you need is you 🤍

Bible used for spell work . 🖤🤍✝️🛐✡️

Did you know that the Bible, along with other traditionally Christian items like rosaries and icons of Saints and even the Eucharist, have been used in folk magic for centuries? From English Devon folk magic to Italian folk magic, from superstitions and syncretic practices to prayer books such as the Slovenian Kolomonov Žegen, the use of Christian iconography, literature, figures, and holy names (like the name of Jesus Himself) have featured prominently in some of the most potent magical acts and procedures.

When it comes to witchcraft today, though, people traditionally think of a Book of Shadows or a grimoire—a book full of a witch’s spells, information, and good old fashioned trial and error that they’ve accumulated over the years. These books are wonderful treasures as they continue to be filled, full of spells and incantations and prayers created by the practitioner that have been proven to work, and many people write them with the specific intent of passing them on to children or apprentices or other practitioners.

But one often overlooked resource, especially for those looking to reconnect with the folk culture of their ancestors, is none other than the Bible itself. Within it are many different sections that can be used to focus one’s magic, as has been done over the centuries by Christian cunningfolk and other magicians—often with the intent of defending against harmful or evil intentions from other practitioners. And given that so many members of the Abrahamic faiths use actual pieces of scripture in protections (like the Jewish mezzuzah or the different types of wearable amulets with pieces of the Qu’ran inside), the power of the Word of God is acknowledged even among those who have nothing to do with the concept of magic and the Craft.

Of course, it’s strange to think about for many a modern witch–the idea that magic is not only possible, but prolific in religions that seemingly condemn it so harshly—but the reality is that no religion can truly be operated without magic. How else would we interact directly with our God, exorcise evil spirits, or transmute our Eucharist? This is why you might notice a group of Christians calling themselves witches, using the modern idea or witchcraft that spawned thanks to Wicca and 90’s new age spirituality as a type of cultural shorthand to explain the spiritual work we’ve always done.

In fact, the words used to denote witchcraft in the Bible were actually ones that dealt with specifically harmful or foreign magic, which both Abrahamic and other religions had issues with (including Babylonian, Sumerian, Greek, and Roman polytheism). It’s also why you’ll see so much of what we would call witchcraft today in European and Christian folk magic dedicated to warding against witchcraft (like German mothers putting lavender under their children’s beds to protect from evil magic, Slovenian unwitchers doing elaborate prayers and rituals to break curses, or cunningfolk doing counter magic on cheese that allegedly wouldn’t curdle right due to a witch’s curse). When you’re a rural European farmer who can’t afford to wait for a doctor or a priest, the only option is to learn defensive and healing magic for yourself.

I myself am a Christian witch, and I can tell you firsthand: Christian magic is a staple in our ancestors’ interactions with God, especially when tools like the Bible are involved. And, of course, the more of your own folk practice and ancestral traditions you learn, the more unique and inventive the magic gets. As a Christian Witch goes about learning more of their heritage and ancestral practices, however, it’s good to know the basics of using the Bible in witchcraft—so let’s talk about it!

DIVINATION WITH THE BIBLE (BIBLIOMANCY) A seasoned witch will tell you that before any spellwork or ritual, it’s wise to do some divination with your guides, whoever they may be.

As a Christian witch, our foremost guide is, naturally, God. And there’s an age-old practice that many Christians might not think of as divination, but absolutely fits the bill, and that’s bibliomancy.

Bibliomancy, as the word suggests, is any sort of information we can gather from a book (any book, not just the Bible). After all, that first part of the word, biblio- shows up in more than just the Bible, right? Think of a bibliography, a list of compiled sources, or a bibliophile, a person who’s really enthusiastic about books. But when it comes to bibliomancy, the Bible is certainly a top contender for the divinatory tool of choice, even if plenty of other interesting books are available on your shelf.

Bibliomancy is simple. Just like shuffling a deck of oracle or tarot cards, you want to really focus on your question and intention. Hold it in your mind even after you ask God, and then open your Bible and flip the pages until you feel compelled to stop. You may feel a sensation like:

A tingle in your ear or at your fingertips A sudden silence in the mind that interrupts your flow & catches your attention A heavy feeling in your stomach when you reach a certain section Whatever your intuitive signs are that you’re used to with other methods of divination, look for that here and fish out a specific part of the page with it. You might find yourself landing on a verse of Scripture, or you may find yourself looking at an insightful footnote you didn’t consider before. Either way, thank God for His attention and HIs message, and decide from there whether or not spellwork is even a good idea that day.

PSALMS & PROVERBS FOR QUICK CASTING Once you’ve gotten your divination out of the way, the first thing you’ll hear anyone tell you about using the Bible for witchcraft is that the Psalms are insanely overpowered.

And they’re right!

One of the most prime examples of a powerful Psalm is none other than Psalm 109—an imprecatory Psalm, meaning one in which the speaker asks God to incite some serious punishment on whoever did something wrong. My Bible, the Jewish Study Bible, notes that because of its focus on what words were said against the speaker, and the long string of asks that come after pleading their case to God, it’s entirely reasonable to say that this Psalm was actually written as a counter curse.

It’s awfully brutal for a counter curse, I will say. But it is an example of magic you can use through the Bible, especially if you’re looking for quick, pre-written incantations or spells that hit the mark. The Psalms and Proverbs are so varied in their talking points, purposes, and themes that you can find one for pretty much any occasion, and when you read them aloud with the intention of them being a spell—really connecting to God and channeling down His blessings through your own magic—you’ll find it’s like the difference between a static shock from your sweater and a full on lightning blast.

And remember: you don’t have to use an entire Psalm or Proverb (they run quite long!). Sometimes, just a verse or two is enough to get your point across and focus your magic and intention in your spellwork.

THEMATIC RITUALS AND INGREDIENT INSPIRATION Lastly, those who know the Bible well and know the story inside and out will find all kinds of beautiful lessons tucked in between all the raw humanity of this book. Yes, you read that right, and I’ll repeat it again: the Bible, the Word of God, is such an inherently human and vulnerable and raw book, full of tragedy and celebration side by side, just as Life itself is.

But when you know the stories, and you can pull out core lessons, you can actually find a lot of fantastic focusing or centering verses and chapters to build your spells around. I’ve even made amulets with lockets that have a verse number or bit of Scripture tucked inside, along with corresponding herbs and spices and other such things. All of the Psalms and Proverbs I listed have their functions, including anti-anxiety, but they’re not the only ones that can do that!

For instance, one of the most powerful pieces of the Gospel for spellwork is none other than Jesus’s admonishment of his disciples in Matthew 6:25-34:

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus had a lot of wonderful things to say that can strengthen us even in the darkest of times, and those make for some powerful magic. In fact, it’s Jesus Himself that delivers the secret of Christian magic in the Gospels: faith, even that the size of a mustard seed, can move mountains.

Speaking of the mustard seed, though, now’s also a good time to mention: the Bible has quite a few spots that signify specific stones, incenses, herbs, and spices throughout its stories. Frankincense, after all, isn’t only something offered to Jesus and His family when He’s born; it’s also an integral part of the holy incense of the very Temple of God. And mint, anise or dill (depending on translation), and cumin are among the spices Jesus mentions as being a tithe in Matthew 23:23, too—along with justice, mercy, and faith. When you find mention of herbs, spices, or other abstract concepts like these, pay attention!

They’re significant to God, and when you combine their associations in the Bible (rue and hyssop, for instance, being apotropaic, along with lamb’s blood or cedar), with traditional witchy associations with them, you can get a lot more bang for your buck. Mustard has always meant power and passion thanks to its fiery, Mars-based associations, but combining it with its ability to surprise us with its aggressive growth and its representative qualities regarding faith, it gets all the more important.

You might also take the time to learn from cultural practices that become apparent in places like Leviticus 14, which is a ritual to cure people of leprosy, or in the story of Jesus casting demons into a herd of pigs. Both of these represent the idea of giving an evil spirit or malady somewhere else to attach to (the bird, the pigs) and driving it away from the afflicted person. That’s some powerful banishment and exorcism technique!

GET CREATIVE WITH THE BIBLE AND MAX OUT YOUR SPELLWORK All in all, like any other magic, what matters with using the Bible in spellwork is how creative you are in applying it. The book contains the hopes, dreams, fervor, and faith of millions of people over the course of thousands of years, and it’s also had the honest energy and belief of millions more poured into it as a sacred object. Even if God’s power weren’t in that book, that alone would make the Bible super powerful as a magical focusing tool and ritual item.

Whatever your intention is, I can almost guarantee you can find a verse to match it, so go wild! And even if you aren’t Christian, chances are that you have ancestors that might’ve been (or who had to use the cover of Christianity to cloak the magical work they did as folk magicians). The Bible is powerful on its own, and there are so many instances of syncretic crossovers in folk magic (such as German folk magic, where many pagan practitioners still incorporate items such as rosaries and Bible verses into their spells and ritual workings). But also remember, that when it comes to Christian Witches, the place our power comes from isn’t a book (even if it is God’s word): it’s God. So when a Christian uses their magic to connect to Him, that’s where the real power lies.

No matter your background, and no matter your beliefs, though, remember to stay safe in your spellcasting, take your proper precautions, and overall just enjoy the moment. Happy witching!
