Netflix's Treason Is Charlie Cox's Anti-Daredevil Showcase

Charlie Cox is known and loved as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Daredevil, but Netflix's Treason reminds viewers that he's more than Matt Murdock.

Charlie Cox is deservedly beloved for his portrayal of Matt Murdock / Daredevil, first in Netflix's Daredevil series and now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox has given Marvel fans the Daredevil they always wanted and created new fans for the character with his well-developed and charming take on the character. But how many viewers can name someone Charlie Cox has played other than Daredevil?

Netflix's new miniseries Treason is only Cox's second TV starring role since he became the Man Without Fear, and the one with the biggest platform. The spy thriller is viewers' best opportunity to see the actor in a different light -- and a very different one, because like all good spy stories, it requires a certain amount of versatility. Charlie Cox is what makes Treason successful, and Treason will give TV viewers more appreciation for Charlie Cox.

Netflix's Treason Enables Charlie Cox To Move Beyond Daredevil

While Charlie Cox has a 20-year career (and counting), his Marvel association casts a long shadow. Add in the fact that as a British actor, some of his roles have been in UK productions that haven't gotten wide American releases, and the average Netflix viewer probably knows little about his resume. Maybe some folks remember that he was in two seasons of HBO's Boardwalk Empire. But Treason is on Netflix and with plenty of buzz about Cox thanks to Daredevil: Born Again, the project also has great timing. People are going to see it and see more of what he can do.

Cox portrays Adam Lawrence, the youngest person to ever head up the Secret Intelligence Service, more commonly known as MI6. He has everything under control, including a strong marriage to ex-soldier Maddy da Costa. But when Adam's former flame and fellow operative Kara Yerzov re-enters his life, everything goes to hell. The three of them must rely on each other to persevere while simultaneously feeling like they don't know each other at all. This provides room for Cox to have cute domestic moments, scenes of romantic angst and even beats dealing with MI6 bureaucracy. Matt Murdock is a great lawyer, but he doesn't have the leadership pressures Adam does and Treason shows Cox as someone who's defending his own life more than anyone else's.

Charlie Cox Makes Netflix's Treason a Better Spy Thriller

Treason is a serviceable spy drama -- yet any fan of the genre knows the beats that it hits. Of course Adam is an elite MI6 agent. Of course his personal life is a mess. Of course he ends up crossing paths with his ex-girlfriend. The story is familiar, so what makes the series worth a look is the cast. Not only are they a talented core bunch, but they also happen to be connected to each other. Ciarán Hinds previously starred in Kin with Cox, who worked with both Olga Kurylenko and Oona Chaplin's mother Geraldine Chaplin in the 2010 film There Be Dragons. Those are just two examples of the familiarity that gives Treason a little extra depth than the average thriller.

Yet it's Cox's performance that carries it, both because the plot centers so strongly around Adam and because he does some excellent work that's very different from what audiences saw in Daredevil. His presence keeps the show from turning into another clone of Taken because the viewer doesn't lose sight of the emotional stakes, not just the ones about terrorism and counter-intelligence. The more the plot stretches, the more Cox becomes an anchor, because viewers can focus on Adam. Cox may not be James Bond, but he doesn't have to be; his deeply flawed portrayal is the best thing about a miniseries that showcases acting instead of action.

...So I what I usually write and what I actually publish to ao3 are pretty different 😅 I've been doing a bunch of dp x dc fics as of late, and one dc x marvel fic, but if left to my own devices, I go back to Star Wars and Naruto and a lot of Naruto, and I have a surprising word count on a Supernatural fic which is odd considering I've never actually finished an episode of the show before.

Once. I will occasionally write stuff for myself, but the reviews on the one posted smut chapter were generally that it was very, very funny. This does not give me much feedback to work off of lmao

I don't believe in genuine OTPs, but whatever Desiree!Janet and Bruce have going on in Drake Manor is hysterical to me. I hope they get divorced and then break up and then get back together and then break up again.

I want to finish Trade of Trickery. I think it will take time. But I am determined to do it. We're halfway through the Sea of Monsters and I am delusional enough to think I can make it if I just power through in some distant future

Google translate is my friend, and I don't necessarily believe in providing translations. There's no irl subtitles. If the characters are meant to understand, I'll leave stuff around to make the context and content clear, but like, no creo que es necesario en todos situaciónes.

...Naruto...maybe...? No I'm wrong. It was Fairy Cube. My first divine visions/early fic thoughts were from Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness series and my first fandom I actually wrote/published fic for was Fairy Cube. Don't ask what account it was on. I borrowed my friend's ffn account. I don't remember the username anymore.

20. Favorite Fic you’ve written?

....hoo boy. Tie for Quiet Respite and Trade of Trickery. I love Comets and Drake Manor has a special place in my heart, but QR feels uniquely mine in ways that my dp x dc fics sometimes don't, and Trickery really is a love story about Sally Jackson and forgotten Demigod kids. Nothing else hits. Nothing else is the same. It's about collecting what you can in your hands and taking it with you.

We should get into how Book Two is going!

My intention is to have the same (unlucky number 13) amount of chapters. ⬛🐈 I’m noticing that the chapters are tending to be longer as I move forward, partially due to the scope of the plot points, but also because of the level of variation that I’m adding by calling on variables. (Book Two’s Introduction is about 3 times longer than Book One's.) This is primarily due to scenes that trigger based on your MC’s current choices along with past choices/stats.

Something I’ve been having fun with in this book is the ability to make nods to past RO moments you may have experienced while giving options for you to explore those tentative feelings/bonds. I couldn’t do this too early in Book One, since you were still meeting and learning about the characters; now, I can! 😎 Or at least, I can give you the opportunity to be flirty with J as soon as they call you on the walkie talkie in Chapter 1. Having that past history thanks to Book One is something I’m sincerely enjoying incorporating into Book Two—it creates links between your two playthroughs that will hopefully make everything feel more real.

I know I’m supposed to be a little vague about things in these updates; it’s hard when I tend to ramble. XD The scene I recently wrapped up involved the MC’s W-given nickname coming into play and tailoring how they interact with you in the Fernweh Diner. It will be interesting for replays.

The only reason Andromeda dropped off abruptly in November is because I still can't get the launcher to, well, launch without crashing my computer. But one sweet day, my beloved Andromeda and I shall be together again! 🤗😉

Both @mrtobenamedlater and @naranghim have kindly offered me a ton of great advice on repairing my old man here. *pat-pats my faithful computer whose only fault is getting old*

It happens to us all, after all!

Anyway, at least I still have had the MCC or I swear, I would've gone off a light bridge somewhere!

So, my Gaming Goal for 2024 is to, first of all, have a working computer again so I can play whatever I want. Then immediately following that, I want to finish my Scott/Peebee and Scott/Jaal playthroughs of Andromeda and I will have officially romanced everybody! 🥳💖

I'm definitely hoping to get the achievement for playing Halo: Reach on Legendary in under 3 hours.

I'm currently on track to finish Reach in... about 5-6 hours right now 👀 but hey, Reach is HARD on Legendary, what can I say? 🤷‍♀️ It just took me 1 hour 18 minutes to get through "Long Night of Solace" and, if you know Reach, then you know that space battle is a PILL. I need to find a better strategy than "Hide behind Anchor 9 and wait for everybody else to kill the enemies." It's a solid strat when it comes to surviving but it takes forever and you don't have that sort of time in a speedrun, after all. (The par time is 25, btw. *laughs in "I'm never making anything close to that but will try to get other missions under par so to have some room for it"*)

Anyway, I'm not afraid to have to grind for this achievement, it'll be even more awesome then when I get there, right? 😎👍

There I go, soaring into the air to achieve my dream, just like Emile achieving his dream to, um, be launched into a parking lot??? (I adore how he turns in mid-air to still aim at the Banshees, lol! That's Spartan dedication, frens! 🤣)

But the main thing I want to do is to try some of my other games, such as the original Mass Effect trilogy, Star Wars: Fallen Order, Portal 1 and 2, Titanfall 2, Tomb Raider (2013), Dead Rising, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Dragon Age Inquisition! Those are just a few of the awesome games waiting for me in my Steam library! 🤗🤗🤗 I'm hoping to eventually pick up Detroit: Become Human, Resident Evil Village and Baldur's Gate 3 one day, too! 🤞😣🤞

6. If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?

Mm, I'll stick to my AO3 account for this (because there are numerous at FFNet lol). I'm so proud of everything I've written because it was a necessary stepping stone to where I am today, but if there's one I'd delete off AO3 right now, it'd probably be Survival is Insufficient. The idea was really off-the-cuff and unplanned, and I think I could do better by reworking it into something different or larger in scale.

21. Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?

Construction-wise, I really like Dan Brown (of the Robert Langdon series). I know he's divisive, but I love his utilization of short chapters to keep things fast-paced, and he's good at ending a chapter on a cliffhanger that makes me have to read the next chapter. I love that I don't find myself wondering, "when will this chapter end??" because of those two things. Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio are two screenwriters that I adore. I love their storytelling, and I didn't even realize they were responsible for some of my favorite films until ten years ago — Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure. I listened to their writers' commentary on the first Pirates movie right when I was getting serious about writing as a teenager, and their word became gospel (or, at least, guidelines 😉). And if Vince Gilligan and Taika Waititi could just SHARE some of their secrets with me, that'd be great.

28. What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?

It is thankless. It is SO thankless. I still struggle to remember that sometimes. Not everyone who reads is going to comment or kudos or bookmark, even if they're your biggest fan. You'll never know, and you just have to do it for yourself. Maybe you DO write something that takes your fandom by storm, and that's awesome! Stay humble. Let your work speak for itself. Don't say you suck at summaries, don't beg for reviews, don't say you won't update until you get X number of reviews… let your work be what compels readers to comment, kudos, and bookmark, not your panhandling and need for big stats. It doesn't work that way. If you're not enjoying it, you're doing it wrong.

When you write for a well-loved, small, protected fandom like Back to the Future and introduce an OC, you're rocking the boat. And I knew I was, but I wanted to try it and see how successfully I could pull it off. To my surprise, the ultimate compliment has been given to me by many: my OC blended seamlessly into canon, stood on her own, and actually added to the story. "I forgot she wasn't in the films" was probably the biggest compliment I've ever received. That was the "I did it, and I've got to keep living up to the expectations" moment.

44. What is the last line you wrote?

The last line I wrote would have been in my notebook last night while making notes for Once Upon a Time in the East. And it was: "You should have stayed dead."

I may of had already said it but I have been following you because I was and I am able to tell you’re a good person and we like the same style of posts..

as of what I’m thinking about I’m thankful for our friendship and also about how hard it is to let go and to have the guy that I love having hurt me the way he did and just as much not saying anything to me anymore at all even though anyone would think at least he’s making it easier for me to do it but yet I know I must still be in his mind and his thoughts.. this is the first time that he hasn’t said anything and blocked me every time I tried to.. it’s way too hard to accept and hard to actually let go 💔

Someone is facing an existential dilemma, a deep and unspeakable truth that will force them to unearth past trauma and confront the darker parts of themselves that they desperately want to hide — but they’re making jokes about it 🙃

2. Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?

Hmm, this will probably sound weird but my muse is my feet. I write while I walk. Pre-covid this was ideal because I used to walk to work. Now I just tread circles around the garden and go for hikes. I think best on my feet (not to be confused with being quick on my feet because I most certainly am not) and if I’m ever working at my desk and get stuck literally all I have to do most times is get up and pace the room and things will sort themselves out.

Ok I’m getting into the oversharing portion of the evening but whatever! Muse feet! Tell your friends!

38. Talk about a review that made your day.

I mean, all of them. I know that’s a cop out but that little email notification is a true balm to the soul lol. But honestly I go absolutely feral when people pick up on little Easter eggs and threads that are scattered throughout the chapters. It’s so incredibly validating when you’ve had an inside joke with yourself for such a long time and then suddenly here’s someone else, getting it 😂❤️

39. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?

I’ve been really lucky that 99% of people have been absolutely lovely. Every once in a while I’ll get something kinda mean, usually through PM or anon. Pretty rare though, most people are super kind or at least respectful. I’ll engage with critical comments, but I ignore nastiness. I don’t have the emotional energy for that. This is a fun hobby that I do for free. If you wanna be mean to me you gotta contribute at least 3% matching to my retirement ok. 😎

1) Did you start following/stanning any new groups this year?

I actually started stanning most of the groups I stan this year! 😆 In 2018 a friend made me discover The Rose, in 2019 i discovered Winner and Monsta X, this year I went crazy 😎👍I discovered OnlyOneOf, the same friend I mentioned before recommended TXT, @we-called-monsta-for-a-reason made me stan Ateez and Oneus and i'm so grateful for it <3 I'm not really stanning Enhypen, at least for now, but I check them out everytime something new comes out. Their discography is flawless, the talent is over the roof.

Can you do ben/kylo ren plans to do little revenge for rey bcos he seems to be jealous when rey/poe hugging and close with each other and then he bring female officer inside his room or nurse or whatever, as for Rey she got no choice and watch them flirting with each other when the force bond happen 😎.

   Renhadn’t seen Rey in person since the battle on Crait four months ago,but their bond was getting stronger and he was spending more timewith her through the Force than ever before.  It also wasn’t cuttingout around other people anymore, which was troublesome.  She’dintruded on highly confidential meetings he’d been in twice already,meetings he’d had to cut abruptly short the moment he felt the tremoracross his skin that meant she was there.  He should have minded buthe didn’t; it was a minor annoyance, and then mostly because it setHux off more than usual.  But in his new position as Supreme Leadereven Hux was a minor annoyance.

   No,the real trouble was what he heard when it had started happening theother way around.  Ren had  been abruptly introduced into several ofRey’s conversations, treated to seeing her laughing and joking withunidentified Others, presumably Resistance or Resistancesympathizers.  It hadn’t taken him long to realize that almost everytime the other voices were all male.  She always shushed them once hewas there, or left to be alone on one excuse or another, but justknowing they were there, regularly having these conversations withher, made him uncomfortable.  Irritated.  Eventually he had to admit,at least to himself, that it made him angry.  He’d never experiencedjealousy before but now he caught himself wondering if he could Forcechoke someone on the other end of the galaxy that he couldn’t evensee.

   Hehad just finished a routine troop review and was alone on the viewingplatform when it happened again.  That strange sensation of her, theway the sound changed around him, even the movement in the air.  Shehadn’t noticed, he could see that immediately, because she wassitting somewhere leaning on someone’s shoulder, body relaxed, guarddown, looking into the middle distance with Ren behind her.

   “Areyou sure?” the person she was with asked, invisible, the voicecoming from nowhere.  The voice of a man, of course.

   “I’veseen it before,” she told him, her admission trembling withrecently-shed tears.  She’d been crying, and some other man wascomforting her.  Ren felt his hands tighten into fists.  “I didn’tunderstand it then.  I know a little more about it now but it stillscares me.”

   “Youdon’t have to be scared,” the man said, and her outside arm movedas if someone had his arm around her and had squeezed it.  “We’renot going to let anything happen to you, huh?  You’re family now.” She nodded but didn’t say anything for a long moment, long enoughthat the voice added, “Look, just be patient a little while longer,okay?  We’ll find her.  We’ll sort all of this out.”

   “Okay,”she said, looking up at him and smiling.  An open, trusting, fondsort of smile that disappeared immediately when she caught a glimpseof Ren, watching them.  “Um, thanks for letting me talk to you,”she said to her companion, leaning away from him hastily, turning herface away so he wouldn’t see her change of expression as she stood. “I’m going to go for a walk, clear my head.”

   “Don’tgo too far.  We don’t know much about the nightlife around here, youmight end up as grub for something.”

   “I’llbe fine,” she assured him.  “Bye.”

   “Nottoo far,” he reminded her, and Ren forced his expression toimmobility as he bridled at the words.  She wants you gone, so go,he thought at the intruder as he heard footsteps retreating.  Shedoesn’t need you anyway.

   “Whowas that?” he asked as soon as the footsteps were gone, keeping histone admirably calm and dispassionate, considering.

   “Afriend of mine.”

   “You’revery popular.”

   “Notreally,” she disagreed with a little smile.  “How’s Hux treatingyou?”

   “Worseand worse every day.  I can only imagine how bad he’ll be when hedoesn’t have the Resistance to distract him any more.”

   “Maybeyou should try and keep us around a little longer,” she joked.

   Yes,maybe he should deliberately extend the amount of time she spentcuddling in secluded places with a variety of men.  That was likely. “I’ll just have to think of something else for him to do,” Rensaid, shrugging.  “You’re upset?”

   Hersmile slipped away and she averted her eyes, twirling her staffabsentmindedly.  “Not anymore.  All I really needed was a hug, Iguess.  And some sleep.”

   “Haveyou been practicing?” he asked.

   Sheshrugged but in the next moment brought the staff around at blazingspeed, sweeping towards him in a circle that stopped right next tohis head.  He didn’t physically feel the Force push she coordinatedwith the swing but could sense it, as well as hear the violentrustling of unseen plant life around him as it blew past.

   “Thatwould be enough for two stormtroopers,” he decided.  “Three atthe outside.”

   “Definitelythree.”

   “No. Maybe with a jab, if you focused.  And if you spread your scope alittle wider.”

   “I’vetried,” she protested.  “Every time I try to extend it it weakensthe center.”

   “Showme.”  She did, and he watched closely before correcting her form. The conversation was too brief to allow for anything else; one of hisPraetorian guards entered the room with a message for him andsuddenly Rey was gone.  What she’d said bothered him afterwards,though.  'All I really needed was a hug.’  Indeed.  And how often wasshe getting those hugs?  And how many (in his imagination, male)friends were giving them?

   Twodays after that meeting the Resistance struck an Outer Rimmanufacturing facility owned by one of the First Order’s mostprominent investors, stealing a handful of TIE fighters.  Renhappened to be in the area on other business and arrived in time toengage them directly just as they escaped.  One of the voices hadsounded familiar and he’d been distracted, so distracted he didn’trealize one of the stolen TIE fighters was about to bring the roofdown on him until it was already happening.  It took the greaterportion of his strength to deflect the collapsing beams and some ofthe smaller debris had slipped through.  The wounds were small butthere were several of them on his back and shoulders, and besidesthat one of the Praetorians was killed and another wounded severely. Hux, who prided himself on hand-picking the Praetorians, was furious,and by the time Ren finally received medical attention he wasseething.  The doctor who patched him up was careful about it but hestill wished her away so he could Force crush something.

   “Thisone, here,” she said, interrupting his dark thoughts for the thirdtime as her practiced fingers brushed a burn down his collarbone andchest.  It was raw and oozing and even that light contact made himgrit his teeth.  “I could tape it up but a laser suture will befaster.”

   “Fine,”he managed to say.  She had him lean back and sprayed the burn with apain relieving foam.  She angled herself across him to do it, herother hand planted by his opposite hip to support her weight, andjust as it occurred to Ren that the resulting close proximity wasn’tstrictly necessary he looked up and caught her staring down at him,not at the wound itself but at his bare chest.  “Are you finished?”he asked pointedly.

   “Myapologies, Supreme Leader,” she said, raising her eyes to meet hisbut not changing her position in any way.  If anything he could swearshe was leaning in a little closer.  “Do you still feel any pain?”

   Hewas about to push her off when the sensation of the bond activatedagain and Rey’s reflection appeared in a window on his right.  Evenat that angle he could see her sudden frown of concern as she took inhis wounds and a strange, unruly impulse made him look back at thedoctor and ease his expression a bit, not a smile, but definitely nota frown.  “It feels much better,” he said, looking her in theeye.  “Thank you.”

   “Itneeds to be completely numb,” she said, her gaze dropping to hischest then finding its way back to his eyes again at a slant thatdefinitely suggested more than a mere clinical assessment.  “Forthe suturing.”

   “Itis,” he assured her, and she finally eased off.  As she moved outof the way he was rewarded with seeing reflection-Rey’s eyes narrow. “And the rest?” he asked the doctor, not sure how to continuethis forward except by keeping her talking.

   “Youhave your choice of treatments, Supreme Leader,” she saidrespectfully, coming back around him with a suturing gun.  “Thesmaller wounds I can spray for infection and wrap, or suture now ifyou prefer.”

   “Betterjust get on with it,” he said with a mock sigh.  She seemedpleased, and when she leaned closer to his burn this time she bracedherself with a hand on his chest, glancing at him questioningly. “It’s fine,” he said, then realized Rey couldn’t see where thedoctor’s hand was and shifted his weight so he could reach up andwrap his own hand around it.  It was hard to tell with just areflection to go on, but he could have sworn Rey went red.  So didthe doctor, come to think of it.  “I’m ready,” he prompted,ignoring both their reactions and biting back a self-satisfied grin. The doctor started and went back to her work, lining up the gun andcarefully guiding it down the burn’s center; as she went reflectionRey came closer, crossing her arms.  Ren decided not to push his luckand moved his hand back to where it had been before.  The doctordidn’t need any more encouragement, and anyway his point had beenmade.

   Oncethe suturing was done the doctor returned to her medical kit, herexpression calm but his sense of her in the Force full of hormonalenergy.  He turned his head to watch her and pretended to catch sightof Rey for the first time.  She gave him a very dark frown, which hereturned with a quizzical frown of his own, eating up every moment ofit.  So, it did bother her.  So, not such a casual encounter when hewas on the receiving end.

  “I’lldo your back next,” the doctor said, placing her hand on hisshoulder to guide him into leaning forward.  Rey moved around to infront of him, standing not two feet away as he felt the spray acrosshis skin.

   “Ididn’t know you had a female doctor,” she said, her tone drippingcondemnation.  He couldn’t do anything but raise his eyebrows at herand she looked away, muttering something under her breath thatsounded like an unpleasant assessment of the doctor’s character.

   “Doyou feel this?” the doctor asked at the same time, doing nothing asfar as he could tell.

   “No,”he said.

   “This?” The slightest brush of her fingers, across the muscles of his neck.

   “Yes.”

   “Okay,I’ll just go over that bit again,” she said, and there was thesound of the spray again.  “How about now?” she asked a momentlater.

   “No,”he said.  It made him uncomfortable to know that she was most likelyrunning her hands all over him and he couldn’t even tell, but if itwas slightly odd for him that was nothing to how Rey was handling it. She grabbed her staff out of thin air and twirled it with abrupt,jerky motions, her grip harder than normal, her expression far harderthan that.

   “I’mjust going to start the suturing now,” the doctor told him.  “It’sgoing to draw any minor debris in the wounds to the surface, so ifyou smell something that’s the impurities burning off.  You shouldn’tfeel anything, however.  If you do let me know and I’ll stopimmediately.”

   “Thankyou,” he said.

   “I’msure you’re inured to some discomfort, Supreme Leader,” the doctorcontinued, her hand resting on his shoulder.  “But if you feelanything at all, no matter how slight, you should say so right away. If you don’t the pain will increase exponentially.”

   “Thankyou, Dr. Rada,” he said, reaching up to touch her hand so Rey wouldagain know where it was and by happy coincidence catching sight ofher name printed across her lapel.  He managed to pass it off likehe’d known it all along, safe in the assurance that Rey couldn’t seewhat he saw.  “Please continue.”

   Reywas pacing now, up and down, her staff creaking under the tightnessof her grip as she stared at the space just beyond him that wouldappear to her to be empty, her eyes promising murder.  He drank it inunabashedly, committing the expression to memory.  This was what shelooked like when she didn’t want another woman’s hands touching him. It was the outward appearance of what he’d been feeling in his ownmind towards her numerous and mysterious beaus the past few days, andfor weeks before that, and to see it splashed across her face invivid detail satisfied Ren in a gleeful, shameless way that was farbeneath him and far too enjoyable for him to stop.

   Soonenough the doctor had finished and begun to pack her things, givinghim instructions to keep the new skin clean and to keep the scars outof the sun to prevent discoloration.  “And as your doctor, I mustformally request a little more self-awareness concerning your ownhealth and safety,” she finally summarized, lingering though shewas clearly ready to leave.

   “I’llbear that in mind,” he agreed, standing and stretching.  Despiteher brazen methods he certainly felt as though he’d been restored tofull fighting strength.  Now he wanted her to leave so he could hearwhatever Rey was clearly preparing herself to say.  Instead thedoctor hesitated, then stepped forward.

   “SupremeLeader,” she said, the tension he sensed from her climbing anothernotch, “if you need any other treatment please call me.  I amdevoted to your care, day or night.”

   “Verydiligent, Dr. Rada,” he said, turning fully towards her so Reywouldn’t see that his expression had gone suddenly condemning.  Thedoctor saw, however, and took a full step back.  “For today,however, your work here is done.”  She finally recognized her cue,scurrying to the door in record time.  He watched until she was gone.

   “Dr.Rada,” Rey repeated the moment she heard the sound of the doorsliding shut, pronouncing the name as if it was a hideous expletiveon some planets she could mention.  “Yes, she sounds very‘diligent’.”

   “Stoppacing,” he said, turning back towards her.  “You werepractically gnashing your teeth the entire time.  I needed medicalcare.”

   “Youwere fine,” she snorted derisively.  “Sutures, please.  She justwanted more excuses to touch you.”

   “Dr.Rada is a First Order professional.”

   “Shedoesn’t sound professional at all,” Rey sniffed.  “What does shelook like?”

   “What?”he asked, pretending confusion.

   “Whatdoes she look like, Ben?” Rey insisted, extremely unamused.

   “Idon’t see why that matters.”

   “Thenshe’s pretty,” Rey decided with a tone of finality, twirling herstaff with such a violent twist in the Force he heard the wind itmade, whipping through her hair and clothes, the sound of scatteringleaves all around them.  “Not that I care if she’s pretty.  She’sjust very unprofessional.”

   “Haveyou been practicing or not?” Ren asked in an exaggerated patienttone.

   “Icould blow your pretty doctor through a wall,” she growled,snapping her staff forward with a shock of Force that he heardactually crack something wherever she was.  It had sounded like atree.  “Or off a cliff.  Or into space.”

   “Threestormtroopers,” he said, nodding and at long last allowing himselfa self-satisfied smile.  “Or one pretty doctor.”

   “Areyou laughing at me, Ben Solo?” she asked suspiciously, withdrawingthe staff.

   “Areyou jealous, Rey?”

   “No.”

   “No?”

   “Idon’t care at all.”

   “Good,”he said, grinning at her.  “In that case she’s very pretty.”

   “Ben!”she protested, but no matter how hard she was trying to stay mad athim he could see a smile of her own trying to break through.  “That’snot funny!”

   “Funny? No, it’s true.  I think Hux might be trying to set me up with her. Like a blind date kind of thing.”

   “'Ablind date’,” she snorted.  “I’ll blow him through a wall, too. And the next time I see her hands all over you you had better be onthe brink of death.  Suture the little wounds yourself, you knowhow.”

   “Eventhe ones on my back?” he pointed out.

   “Geta droid to do it.”

   “Ithink you might be just a little bit jealous, Rey,” he said with astraight face.  “But it’s hard to tell.”  She responded withanother swing of her staff and then the connection pulled them apartagain, and he was in his chambers alone.  He went to the mirror tocheck Rada’s work- she really had done well, it was almost a shame hewas going to have to firmly terrify her next time to put her in herplace- and dragged a shirt over his head, still grinning.  It wasalmost worth it, feeling the jealousy himself but finding out Reycould feel it just as strongly.  Almost.

i love seungmin’s smau 😭 there’s so many on queue na and i’m currently writing the written chapter. as i wrote for it, i realized that it’s probably not going to be a long fic, i feel like with the story revolving around six people, there really isn’t much arcs to go on and i think i’d focus on the main boy na anywho. it’ll probably be a linear development with two to three arcs at most, not like jyp-u where there’s so many things happening all at once.
