Cute idea! Shadowheart healing their baby's first cut or bruise?

🥹 Just…imagine the wide eyes, bright and green like Shadowheart’s, and full of genuine awe as they look at the now healed wound, and then at Shadowheart.

She’s regarded like she’s magic, warmth, light, everything good in the world. Only one other being has ever looked at her like that. Shadowheart never thought it possible. To that baby, Shadowheart is safety, protection, happiness. She’s none of the things the cloister tried to force upon her. All that child has ever known is her love, her soft coos, her gentle, healing touch.

Something about being viewed like that probably goes a long way in healing residual trauma for her.

HI HELLO JANE!!!!! sorry this took awhile to get around to answering i wrote all the text and told myself i was gonna draw pictures for these and then i got distracted because i wanted to draw. other pictures instead :,D BUT without further ado !!

face: Describe your OC's face. What's their smile like? Are their orbs cerulean? What would someone notice first when looking at them?

i don't trust my writing skills enough to write a description. their face:

i talked a little bit abt their facial features in this ask, but yeah, the Bee Stuff is definitely what people notice first. yarrow's modification was an experimental one, so while most people are kinda used to seeing humods with fur on their faces or weird ears or maybe horns and whatnot, invertebrate features are rare and jarring. this does cause issues when you're trying to be discreet, so yarrow tries their best to wear bandanas or masks. even pre-modification they actually wear something to the effect of a bandana or surgical mask often; partially because They Are A Doctor and also because they live in a mining town that doesn't give a shit about how much dust is kicked up from the open-pit mining

pre-modification i'm not sure what people would notice first; they have a few small defining features like their dimples, yellow-gold eyes, straight teeth, patchy facial hair, and mole on their right cheek, but overall nothing out of the ordinary. i think it's less features people notice, and a general impression of openess? he's quick to smile, talkative, and expressive, so people usually feel like they can approach him

motion: How does your OC move? How does their clothing help or hinder their range of motion? Are they flexible, coordinated, clumsy?

having trained in martial arts for most of her life, serena's very coordinated and flexible! she also has a muscular stature and she can make herself very difficult to move if she doesn't want to. she's aware of her size and generally has a slouch to her posture and walks with a bit of a trudge and lope if that makes sense? she has enough control though to where she can move almost freakishly quiet and it scares people on occasion

ofc she doesn't wear clothes, but she does have her prosthesis!

she's got both an everyday and a sport prosthesis, so while her movement isn't necessarily affected by that, she's less willing to run or do anything intense if she just has her everyday prosthesis on (that's the one i draw, i need to look more into sport prostheses for humans and adapt a design from there)

bc she's a congenital amputee, the only real adjustment she's had to do irt her leg is adapting to a new prosthesis every few years, so she has a solid sense of moving with or without it on. i've been trying to determine if she has smthin like an adapted wheelchair as well, but since dragons are quadrupeds and she's only missing part of a limb, it may not be necessary when she also has her tail and wings to help counterbalance during movement...? there's also the factor that she doesn't have a lot of money, so regardless of what she has to assist her, it's not always top-quality and she's learned to live with a certain level of discomfort and pain

speaking of wings, flying is something dragons can do, but it's a lot like running where most ppl can't do it for longer periods of time unless they train. it's not as necessary in modern society, so most dragons can fly for short bursts if needed/for fun. with the exception of a few who do things like, idk fly to work, most rely on transit bc it's easier. serena's ability to fly is Okay, she's accumulated some damage to her wings over the years (side effect of martial arts where other people have claws and horns), which makes her less aerodynamic and more easily tired out. she's got a good handle on her body and how it moves, so she's actually pretty graceful in the air and not aware of that fact at all. overall, she prefers not to fly, but still maintains a healthy habit of working out those muscles so they don't atrophy, which is a thing that happens with modern dragons.

favorite: Does your OC have a favorite article of clothing or accessory? What is it? What's the meaning behind it? Do they wear it all the time or do they wear it sparingly to keep it safe?

saying wrench is grimm's favorite accessory is actually a stretch bc it loathes wearing it, but adores wrench as a companion but if we are purely talking abt clothing here, grimm's not the sentimental sort, so it doesn't hold on to things once they're to worn nor does it worry about wearing things out. which is the boring answer

wrench is only worn as armor a handful of times in-story and in dire circumstances (that i. have not quite figured out yet <3). grimm fucking hates wearing it, hates the way it takes them back to their past, hates the way it doesn't quite fit their body anymore and hurts if they wear it too long, hates why they even have to wear it, but it's protection and a weapon in one, and they don't have many options.

i talked abt wrench a little bit when you asked abt it here, but wrench is both an artifact of grimm's past and a dear friend. as an animal companion/robot grimm does maintain wrench to an extent and it's a good dog that doesn't age like normal animals, they have a close pet/owner bond. when it comes to "wearing" it, transforming (so to speak) doesn't cause any wear and tear on wrench itself, since that is one of the purposes it was built for, but the situations in which grimm would don wrench may result in damage and there's also an element of wanting to keep wrench safe. aside from being armor, wrench can also do stuff like jam signals for short periods of time and sense heat signatures, so it does have an interest in preserving wrench for its own work and safety as well, but it's also a pet, yknow?

post-story i'm p sure grimm and yarrow would get something equivalent to married. yarrow's the romantic and the one to suggest it ofc, but grimm's like "hell, if i'm going to symbolically tie their life to someone else's it wouldn't be anyone but yarrow" and whatever sort of wedding band/necklace/wearable symbol they choose would become grimm's favorite, esp since it represents a version of themself they like being

Read the reader headcannons of them being afraid of Pokémon and it gave me an idea. How bout a Serena x Reader. Like the reader is a coordinator as well so they compete to see who could get the contest ribbons first. Though as time went on Serena’s Sylveon has been trying to get her make a move. You know as its ribbons enables them to know their trainer’s feelings.

summary: Serena's Sylveon and your own Pokemon play wingman.

You and Serena were childhood friends, traveling buddies, and extreme Pokemon Contest rivals. The two of you would go toe-to-toe in every Contest you competed in together. And since Serena uses a Sylveon, her Pokemon is able to sense her deepest emotions. Now, usually, this is seen as a fantastic thing that allows Sylveon and its Trainer to bond and become an even more powerful duo. However, one specific feeling that you and Serena experience has made Sylveon incredibly mischievous behind your backs. She would inform your own Pokemon, Leafeon, about the situation and Leafeon would observe you, deducing that you felt the same. Due to this, in the past, Sylveon and Leafeon have tried to get their respective Trainers to finally admit their romantic feelings for each other. There have been brute force methods, like Sylveon trying to use Charm on you to make your feelings blatant. Subtle methods were also employed, such as Leafeon growing a beautiful and romantic garden for you and Serena to have a picnic in. Nothing worked. It has absolutely infuriated the two of them that their Trainers stew on mutual emotions and do nothing about it!

At one point, after a particularly intense Contest, you and Serena would be walking with your Pokemon, her Sylveon and your Leafeon. The two of you were specifically hunting for new Contest attire in Lumiose City that would up your “style” factor. In a crowd, however, you got separated from your friend and partner Pokemon. It was just you and Sylveon. The Pokemon would nudge your legs, and you allowed it, thinking she was guiding you in the direction she sensed Serena. After a few minutes, though, you found yourself in front of a high-end clothing boutique with Sylveon herding you inside. She bounded over to different clothes and accessories that were not really your taste, so at this point you were thoroughly confused. You would ask Sylveon, “Why are you showing me all of this? Like, what’s going on? Is Serena here?” The Pokemon would just huff in annoyance and continue her task.

You would understand, though, when you analyzed everything Sylveon was showing you. It was all Serena’s style. And it was all pretty… romantic to boot. You wondered why Sylveon would be showing you these types of romantic gifts for Serena? Unless… she knew that Serena would like it. At that thought, a blush blossomed across your face, and you covered your cheeks with your hands. It suddenly made sense looking at the past few weeks of your Pokemon’s shenanigans, Sylveon was trying to get you to buy a gift to give your friend so that you could confess your crush. You would bend down and whisper at Sylveon, “I know what you’re doing. Please don’t make me do it.” Sylveon would swipe at your hand, pressing her forehead to yours and growling. Okay, okay. Sylveon’s gonna be pushy, you thought. I’ll just buy something and give it to her secretly without saying anything.

You ended up picking out a lovely silver necklace with a stunning faux-ruby pendant (ah, Contest Coordinator budget). You figured since Serena loved wearing the color red, if you were being held hostage by Sylveon to get something it might as well be something she’ll actually use. The Pokemon bounded off in the direction of Prism Tower with you struggling to keep up. When you arrived, Serena was already sitting on a bench with Leafeon, a blush dusting her face.

“Here, I got this for you!” she would shout, standing up straighter than a pole and bowing, holding a small box out to you. In wonder, you took it, seeing a very similar necklace to yours, gold with a sapphire-looking gem. Your own blush blossoms, and you wordlessly give her your necklace. Serena stares at it in awe, Leafeon nudging her leg. She blurts out, “I really like you, you know!”

Now that really surprised you. She… likes you back? You affirm her feelings and let her know you feel the same. As you two are blushing messes underneath Prism tower, Leafeon and Sylveon giggle behind their paws on the side, watching you two finally resolve your unspoken feelings with their latest trick.

Do you think Rory Gilmore and Serena Van Der Woodsen are the same person but as in mirror images of each other

oh interesting, i’ve never really thought of them as particularly similar but. i can kind of see what you mean? like they both struggle with similar things. in opposite ways and for opposite reasons. like they’re both characters who struggle with the idea of purpose.

like rory’s had a goal and a purpose since she was four. harvard and journalism. and her identity is tied so strongly to those goals. she doesn’t know who she is without them. if she’s failing at the ivy league, if she can’t be a journalist, then who is she?

and then serena is always lost. she’s always looking for something but not knowing what that something is.

and people’s perceptions of them are strongly related to the lostness they both feel.

like for rory. firstly the entirety of stars hollow knows her as the smart girl who’s going to harvard and becoming a journalist. and then there’s her family. and it’s like. lorelai wants harvard for rory soo much. which can be seen from the fact that rory has had harvard merch on her walls since she was 4 and also lorelai’s reaction to rory applying to multiple universities. and emily and richard want the ivy league for rory too. she’s their pride and joy brilliant granddaughter going to harvard/going to yale making up for what they perceive as her mother’s failures.

and then nobody believes in serena ever. nobody has any expectations of her. nobody believes that she could be good at something or know something or just. be good. not her best friends, not her mother, not her absent father. like when serena does something well or something good. people act shocked. or they don’t believe. they don’t believe she can change. the don’t believe that she has changed. there’s nothing she can do to change people’s perceptions of her

they’re both trapped in these perceptions other people have of them. but yeah opposite perceptions. rory trapped in this box where she is always perfect. serena being unable to be seen as anything other than beautiful and charming. the people they love won’t let them out of these boxes.

oh also they both have this effortlessly charming thing going on where they’re just universally likeable and just endear themselves to anybody without trying. (in very different ways.) and they both have best friends who hate them for this, who are deeply jealous of them for this but are also kind of in love with them for this.

also this half-finished thought in my drafts is kind of relevant here.

So we all know Shadowheart is a badass, she is a cleric and Selune's favorite little princess after all.

What about Tav? I can see people thinking "human fighter woman" just can't keep up, but imagine Tav standing and with nothing more than sword and shield stopping a group of bandits, or something else to protect Shadowheart/someone else? Even better if the idea that she IS superhuman, as all high level characters have to be, comes to the fore.

"How the hell did she do that?" "No human can do this." "Watch me." and "I am your sword and your shield. I am your armor and until I am broken and dented, rusted beyond all repair, you shall not be harmed."

Oh yes, let’s please talk about Knight Tav for a moment! 😍

I think you’re right. All her life she’s been underestimated! Noble spoiled child who suddenly wants to take up arms? Laughable! But Tav LOVES to prove people wrong!

But also Tav has real fears, real concerns that drive her to learn swordplay, defense, battle tactics. She wants to be able to protect herself- but that eventually blooms into the desire to protect anyone who’s weaker, defenseless, in need of her sword and shield. (Like I always say- Shadowheart saw it firsthand (and first got hearteyes for Tav) with the Tiefling child refugees! Tav sprang into action to defend them, to care for them!)

But let’s talk about Tav’s battle prowess. A fighter, a knight, a Cormyr Purple Dragon (name still cracks me up lmao)- she finds herself in elite company after a decade of sacrifice, of training. She may not be versed in clandestine skills like Shadowheart, but pound for pound, out in the open, she’s absolutely something else. She’s often the last one standing.

The first time Shadowheart sees it in full force, I imagine it’s when she and the other party members are down. Unable to defend themselves, only Tav is left to fend off a swarm of enemies to protect them- be it Bhaal cultists or some simple bloodthirsty bandits. And she does. All power, beauty, effortless grace- blood of her enemies staining her face, her hands, her armor, the blade of her sword. It’s probably breathtaking, in a sense, watching her chest heave as she fells her last enemy and wrenches her sword free. And the dichotomy of the way she fights vs how she drops to her knees immediately after to cradle Shadowheart in her arms??? 🥹 to heal her with no thought of her own wounds???

She lives and dies by her honor and her ability to protect her loved ones. And boy, does she come through. She may not be winged like Aylin but I feel that she is as much of a warrior angel in her own right. And Selûne probably holds the savior and lover of her chosen in high regard 😉 so that’s a little boost in her abilities, too.
