mori would take you on a fast food date but WAIT hear him out. It's late, he orders way too much food and he shows you all his favorite food hacks (put the chicken sandwich INSIDE the taco, fries in the frosty, nugget spicy sauce goes on the burger) and gets you stuff off the secret menu (just ask for Animal Style). In all its surprisingly intimate date, just the two of you in a plastic booth in some 24/hr grease trap in the middle of the night but it leads to fun conversation. (If you're the kind to partake, you can both smoke huge blunts in the parking lot after)

Amir's usually CRAZY busy on valentines day but he's also organized and prepared. If he can't get away from his clients on the day of he'll arrange to take you out either before or after. Amir dates typically go one of two ways- the first is him taking you somewhere INCREDIBLY fancy like a five star hotel for the night that includes a huge suite with a marble floor, top rate spa services, in room food service from an exclusive chef, champagne and fruit for breakfast, fresh flowers, luxury macrons flown in from Laduree's in Paris. The second is he heard about some ADORABLE greek place in a part of town he's never been to and he's determined to eat there even though they mostly sell street style food and he has no idea what half of it is. He calls them for a reservation and the person on the phone has never been asked to make a reservation before. Its confusing but fun. Amir will make sure you don't spend valentines without knowing he's thinking about you. Prepare for an obnoxiously huge bouquet bigger than you to be delivered to you in the most public manner possible.

Akello is understated but classic, imho, he can do no wrong. He loves a more intimate and low key affair. Let him cook you a nice dinner, show you he knows how to make a god damn delicious demi glace and roast vegetables so good they're not relegated to mere side dishes. If you drink he's got a nice wine picked out that matches his food, if not he'll make a bracing black tea with fruit in it that is so simple but so refreshing you'll be begging for it every time you come over. Netflix and chill is fun favorite for Akello (and, if you partake, he'll wrap up a late night date with a big blunt on his building's roof.)

If your PC had to set up a date, what they plan for it?

That really would depend on who the date is with! Vehn is very adept at reading people and he uses that to his advantage. In this case he’d figure out what the other person would prefer, without actually out right asking, and plan accordingly. Something he know they’d enjoy, something to make them comfortable.

But! Just a fun bit of information, in the modern au @cassandthings and I have (over 215k words into!!!) Vehn took Gale on a date to a dive bar and a rowdy, high energy punk show. Then he brought him up to the highest spot in the city and they watched all the lights and the landscape in the distance , and Vehn explained it was a very special place to him.

What tarot would your PC be?

I’m not well versed at all in tarot cards, so I took a quiz answering it for what I think Vehn would say, and ended up with The Chariot. So I guess that? I don’t know how accurate that is but!

What are your PCs eating habits?

Whatever is easiest to make on the go, or on the road. Simple, filling things. He’s not great about remembering to eat three solid meals, or even eating in general sometimes. He’s gone through a lot of time where he didn’t have anything to eat, so he kind of got used to the feeling of being hungry and being able to ignore that.

But now that he’s got Gale, he’s getting used to eating well for the first time in his life. He’s more than happy to let Gale spoil him with a good meal and shower him in compliments about his cooking.

The best piece of advice I ever got was not meant as advice, but as an edict. Have been doing this since high school. It was my drama teacher who asked me to please stop scaring the actors. The other half of the edict was that I had to say it in a polite tone, and end it with either please or thank you.

hbomberguy’s latest video on plagiarism has made me completely rethink literature and writing. I have never once so much as considered intentionally plagiarizing anyone or anything, but I think there’s something more that has come out of this: the names of the people who created the works Somerton (and others) ripped off.

Plagiarism isn’t only bad because it is lazy and disrespectful, it’s bad because it buries the truth. If you can’t find a source, the conversation is over. Somerton’s sources are fairly easy to find by simply searching his plagiarized lines, but that isn’t true in most cases. Most of the time, the line from statement to source is a lot less clear.

Today, I was writing a report on English Ivy, which is an invasive species here in the US. I wanted to know when it was introduced and I at last found a source claiming it was introduced to the Americas “as early as 1727” on a .net website that seems quite reputable (it has multiple major universities credited in its home page), but there is no citation for where this date came from. I dug deeper and found a pamphlet created by a city government in Virginia that made the same claim, only to discover the first source linked in their bibliography. Another website (a botanical garden’s page) gave the same date with the same source hyperlinked. Of course, I have classes to attend and things to do and probably not enough time to follow the lines back to where this 1727 date came from, but if I had not just watched this video, I wouldn’t have given that date a second thought.

Of course, it doesn’t matter in the long run exactly what year hedera helix was introduced to the Americas, but it makes you wonder how many facts have been so vaguely attributed that it becomes completely impossible to figure out where they originated (and further, whether or not they’re true at all).

god I'm so fucking furious at the removal of Te Reo Māori names from organisations around Aotearoa. it's a complete non-issue, every organisation has the English name directly underneath the Māori name. I have never once as an English speaker been unable to understand what an organisation is for. Winston Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is literally Māori himself, said “Te Papa is a historic name but tell me this waka kotahi, how many boats have you seen going down the road?”. Waka does not just mean canoe. it means vessel, and waka kotahi (the transport agency of Aotearoa) explains this VERY SIMPLY on their official website. waka kotahi means to travel together as one. Can you see how fucking upsetting this is. A Māori person in power who is in agreement about banning his own language, being so cocky about something that he does not even understand due to the suppression of the language of his people. It makes me sick. I've seen reports from Māori people all over Aotearoa speaking out about how upset and furious they are, how decades of progress have been undone in the fight to restore the rights of their people who have for so long been oppressed and have suffered the effects of colonisation. Please share this if you can, I hate knowing how few people will hear about this, I know there is so much injustice in the world right now and it is so exhausting, I know. I love you all, keep it up.

Not the anon, but Kosa is a bill that's soon going to pass where minors on the internet get their parents to see what they search up and restrict things that are deemed "inappropriate." When in reality it prevents kids who are trying to learn about the lbgtq community and kids trying to identify abuse. The bill will change the internet forever and NOT in a good way.

Im pretty sure the anon is trying to ask you to spread awareness about this.
