the reason i got into the mechs is because i love nothing more than a stupid overly complicated little outfit (all of my ocs have the most unnecessarily complicated outfits i can possibly make, for absolutely no reason) so i took one look at Them

and decided to make it 99% of my personality forever

💀- He would never admit it but he is afraid of heights. I wouldn't call it a phobia, but he definitely does not like them.

🧊- P2 Moron had top surgery scars, but then I got rid of them because I couldn't decide if I wanted to make him trans or not. That's a secret not even he knows. How? Idk, it's Postal 2, don't question it.

🍎- P2 moron lives far away from his parents, he moved places but he loves his mom, his dad left when he was a child so he didn't know him all that much. He's mom got a boyfriend after he left his hometown, he never knew him in person, but if his mom is happy, he's happy. P1 however was born in Paradise and when he first got the chance he went to live alone. His parents never got divorced so he knew his dad... He still wasn't a good father. And for corkscrew? Well, he loves his mom, she's single and he sometimes visits her and they have a pretty good relationship as well.

Thank you so much!! I’m so so excited for them! I’ve seen a bunch of other crab owners on social media with the same model and they seem popular w their crabs so I’m feeling super hopeful!

I got the Caribbean blue model 😊 I usually go for more natural-looking greens and browns but there weren’t many colors yet and wasn’t patient enough to request a custom made one. But I actually think the blue will look really nice! It’ll make the crabs really easy to spot when they’re on it 😁

#6: how is your life different from two years ago?

a lot has happened, i have to say. i have entirely different friends, a partner, a much better relationship with myself, my life, and my family, and a much better support system. it’s really been a huge mental health journey, the last couple years? i didn’t even know how bad it all was until last january, and now i’m on anti-depressants and doing a shitton of therapy and actually talking to my parents. it’s really good to be where i am, and to not be terrified of growing up or the future, and it’s really really nice to actually feel like i have a future at all. i’m really proud of myself, honestly, for the work i’ve done and the changes i’ve made and the way i’ve handled life and the fact that i can say that i love myself and mean it with my full heart, and that’s really the biggest change in my life.

7. do you outline before writing? if so, what’s your outlining process like? omg no! i do not outline a single thing. or, no, that's not entirely true. there are a few projects where i have actually started outlining things. writing with @wwilloww has made me better at that and since it's a joint effort, we have conversations about what to include and where and then we add it to the doc. when it's just me, i have ideas of what i want to write, where i want to write, and sometimes i will write them down and sometimes i won't and if it stays in my head that means it's mean to be there lol

24. do you have a writer you look up to in terms of writing routines/style?  i don't think i do!!! i have a friend who is an author and he told me that you need to sit down for at least two hours a day and just write. you can write anything but you need to write. i think about that when i don't feel like writing. i just want to keep up the practice, i try to remember that you don't need to be productive, but that practice is good. authors that i just generally look up to: Tamsyn Muir, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Sally Rooney, Alyssa Cole, and Zadie Smith!

god I'm so fucking furious at the removal of Te Reo Māori names from organisations around Aotearoa. it's a complete non-issue, every organisation has the English name directly underneath the Māori name. I have never once as an English speaker been unable to understand what an organisation is for. Winston Peters, the Deputy Prime Minister, who is literally Māori himself, said “Te Papa is a historic name but tell me this waka kotahi, how many boats have you seen going down the road?”. Waka does not just mean canoe. it means vessel, and waka kotahi (the transport agency of Aotearoa) explains this VERY SIMPLY on their official website. waka kotahi means to travel together as one. Can you see how fucking upsetting this is. A Māori person in power who is in agreement about banning his own language, being so cocky about something that he does not even understand due to the suppression of the language of his people. It makes me sick. I've seen reports from Māori people all over Aotearoa speaking out about how upset and furious they are, how decades of progress have been undone in the fight to restore the rights of their people who have for so long been oppressed and have suffered the effects of colonisation. Please share this if you can, I hate knowing how few people will hear about this, I know there is so much injustice in the world right now and it is so exhausting, I know. I love you all, keep it up.

Like, her brains getting all fuzzy and she's even more giggly than usual, and he's just, like enamoured. He thinks she's adorable.

"one hit, that's it-" rafe says, low and quiet in your ear.

you're curled up on his lap at the party, both of you resting on the couch while you observe the scene around you with big eyes. rafe's friends were snorting powder off of mirrors, washing it down with liquor that was definitely harder than the fruity seltzer your boyfriend allowed you to drink. rafe said you couldn't handle anything harder, and you agreed without questioning him, like you always did.

you had pointed to the white lines on the table infront of you and asked him as sweetly as you could if you could try some. kelce overheard you and starts pushing the mirror in your direction, and you look at him with a smile, before rafe stares him down and delivers a tap to your cheek. it's just to get your attention, not really to hurt you, but you feel your face flushing where he touched you when he speaks.

"hey, you don't listen to him, you listen to me, right?" you see kelce in the corner of your eye, taking the tray back and offering it to the girl next to him.

"i know, i just-"

"no, no just anything. y'can barely drink this watered-down crap without trippin' over your feet." he rests back on the sofa, hands gripping your waist and leg tightly. "wants to snort coke. you're funny, kid."

you pout, taking another sip of your drink. you're only half way through the can but your head is starting to feel fuzzy, already. you decide then and there that rafe always knows best for you, but you still want to try the things he tries, show him that you can handle it. the boys next to rafe pass a blunt over you, directly to him. when they blow out the smoke, you start coughing, but watch carefully as your boyfriend takes a long hit. just as he's about to pass it across to kelce, you catch his wrist.

"can i try that instead? please?" you try your best to straighten up, to show him you can take it and that you're not already drunk. "please," you whine, and his friends turn their head to look. you're sure that they think it's silly, the way you have to ask rafe for permission for everything and anything. you don't care, though.

"kid, stop-"

"i can take it, promise. just this time. i won't ever ask again."

that's how you had ended up like this, rafe talking into your ear while he holds the blunt to your lips.

"alright, suck in. long as you can. you're a pro at that, aren't ya?" his words make you lose your concentration, breaking into a coughing fit before you can even try to inhale.

"rafe!" you whine again, pummeling your fists into his chest, still choking on the smoke. your throat feels scratchy but you know that couldn't have been enough.

"what, kid, i gotta do everything for you?" he takes a long hit, and then grips your cheeks with his hand, forcing your mouth open and then blowing the smoke into your throat for you. then he clamps it shut, holds your shoulder while you cough, and passes the blunt along to kelce.

you cough a little, but before long, you're putty in his arms, leaning your head against his shoulder and giggling at nothing. you poke at his chest and then start playing with his chain, then his hair, and then back down to his fingers. he lets you do it, watching you play with his ring and pressing a kiss to your forehead. you're cute like this, he thinks, less shy and not as worried what everyone must think about you. he thinks he likes it, that maybe he should let you smoke with him every once in a while.

"feel good, baby?" he asks in your ear, and you squirm in his touch, pulling away before resting your head again.

"mhm. really good. this is fun. wish it wasn't a crime." he laughs, taking another sip of his beer. you try to copy him, reaching for your seltzer but knocking it over by accident.

"oops," you say with another laugh. "sorry to-wait, whose house is this?"

"c'mon kid, makin' a mess," he groans, picking up the can and watching the fizzy liquid travel.

"sorry, daddy." in your state, you don't realize how loud you said it, but even with everyone's eyes on you, you don't care much, smiling back sweetly at rafe.

"alright, we're leavin'."

I'm not sure if you've been asked this before so sorry if you have been! But could you give a little guide or some tips on how you take care of your crabbyboys??? Because you seem to take such amazing and thoughtful care of these guys, so passionate. I'm so inspired by you to have some lil shell guys!!!

I compiled this list mostly from the Land Hermit Crab Owners FB group’s 101 post, but cut it down to its bare bones. Just let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to help!!

Set Up

Tank: The smallest tank you want to have is 20 gallon tank for 2 crabs (you’ll want to start with at least 2 because they are social critters). Add additional 10 gallons per crab. The lid needs to hold humidity and heat - so should either be full glass or cellophane covered mesh. Hermit Crabs require a consistent humidity of 85%.

Substrate: The crabs’ substrate needs are pretty specific: play sand (usually sold at department stores; pet store sand like calcium sand and dyed sand is dangerous and should be avoided) and coconut fiber mixed at a 5 to 1 ratio -- ie five cups play sand for every one cup coconut fiber. The mixture should be sand castle consistency and be no less than 8” so the crabs have enough room to molt.

Pools:  You need at least two pools deep enough that the crabs can full submerge. One of the pools should be freshwater and the other saltwater (the saltwater use Instant Ocean Salt Mix). Both need to be dechlorinated if you’re using public water.

Heat: Hermit crabs require a consistent temperature of 85 degrees F. Use an under tank heater mat (UTH) for the source of heat. The UTH should cover the  back of the tank, not the bottom, and not go below the substrate line.

Décor: Plenty of fake plants and coconuts/log hides -- hermies are naturally prey animals so get stressed without plenty of places to hide. Climbing objects like cholla wood and driftwood are also good. Hermit crabs are actually pretty smart too so will enjoy things like mirrors and “puzzle toys.”

Shells: Hermit crabs need plenty of natural shells (not painted --  all paints are toxic to crabs) available, otherwise they will start getting aggressive with one another. There should be 5 shells per 1 hermit crab that are similar or larger than the size of the shell the crab is currently in (measure the shell size by the hole opening). Turbo shells are the most popular!

Care

Handling: They’re mostly hands-off critters. Being prey animals, being picked up and played with a lot only stresses them out.

Molting: This is when the crabbies go under the sand and shed their old exoskeleton. All we can do is give them time and privacy. It can take weeks to months for a crab to finish molting. As tempting as it may be though, never go digging for them.

Feeding: As omnivores, they need a well-balanced diet. Calcium, Fruit, Veggies, Proteins, Cellulose, and Chitin are the four musts. There is a huge selection of food they can eat (pretty good list here!), but in general, you just want to make sure it’s pesticide-free. I generally opt for freeze-dried food to lower the risk of mites.
