I am intrigued by the wip titled β€œzaz” if you would like to share some about it fjdjdjdk
Ohhh yes I will absolutely share about Zaz!!! It is more or less a huge ass on-going worldbuilding document. There has been a vague idea of an alien world floating around in my head since about 2018 I think? And I finally started writing it all down and putting some actual detail into it. This document includes such things as angle and axis of rotation of the planet, placement of tectonic plates, ocean and wind currents, tides, a bit of flora and fauna, alien biology and culture, the very rough beginnings of an alien language, and some other related bits.
The aliens that live on this planet are the ones I have mentioned before that have horns like pachycephalosaurus and practice a sort of headbutt wrestling. The alien race is called Ma't'am. Zaz specifically is the name of one of the ma't'am, I am going to use them in a space dnd game, but they are also my sort of "way in" for understanding the culture and life in a more specific way than broad cultures (this whole world exists far beyond the scope of dnd but it has kind of given me an excuse to go wild over it lol). Zaz is a diminutive form of zazaz, which is a sort of bamboo like mangrove tree that their people use to do everything from building ships to weaving baskets to making clothing. And it connotes something like solid/sturdy/useful/multipurpose. The planet is mostly covered by ocean (fun fact the 'sand' on the planet is actually lots of small sea glass so the whole ocean is sort of like stained glass) and the majority of the landmass is islands. There are groves of zazaz trees around many of the islands, and because the ma't'am are entirely ship-living nomads the zazaz trees and a few other mangrove like plants are the only land based organism/object that they interact with.
Tumblr media
This is my very loose map of the planet (excluding the wind and ocean currents, they are on another layer and make it hard to read). It's not super great, I have definitely made better maps before, but I think it gives a pretty clear picture of the shape of the world! The world is about the size of Mars, so it is quite a bit smaller than earth. I made some very loose calculations about human populations from a few different areas and time periods and concluded that there would be around 100 million ma't'am living on the planet.
I have about a bajillion other thoughts on this world and it's people, but that's the pretty basic overview I think? Someday I hope to draw Zaz and some of the other Ma't'am and their world.... but who knows if that will ever happen. I will absolutely share more information about all this if anyone wants it! I think about it all the time and love theorizing and worldbuilding with other people :)

I recently found your Tumblr page, and I'm really enjoying everything you guys are showing so far! This project clearly has a lot of love and hard work being put into it, I can't wait to play the demo when it's released. The art, worldbuilding, characters, everything is incredibly polished, and I'm excited for where you guys go as an official studio! Gael has stolen my heart already, and I'm not mad about it at all. 😌
AAAWWWW MY HEART!! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’œ Thank you so so much for your words, it means so much to us! I know we are technically just four little cryptids doing their best, but reading you makes us feel like we can take over the world. We were never sure of where we and our game would go, (and the future is uncertain) but what we promised ourselves when we started was to do everything out of love, no matter what the outcome ended up being. I'm really glad to know it shows! T^TπŸ’œ
Also, I know you didn't ask, anon, but I'm taking this ask as an opportunity to briefly talk about the demo progress. Beta testing is going greatβ€”if anything, what's delaying us is the legal stuff; the boring stuff; the government stuff. We are still waiting on some voicelines, but the rest is done and tested. I'm praying the bank ℒ️ gets their **** together so we can send the demo to Steam for revision and finally give an official date. Trying to see the good side of this, it's giving me time to work on the android build!
Oh! Our delightful Master Gael, Lord of the Shrimps, sends a huge kiss your way! πŸ’œ

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Thank you so much @darktwistedgenderplural, @wilmonsfolklore, @iwouldnevergetintofanfic & @earlgrey-lateatnight for tagging me in this!!!! This is so much fun!!! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
How many works do you have on Ao3?
17! (but only 12 of those "count", the other 5 are 6+ years old)
What's your total Ao3 word count?
107,628
What fandoms do you write for?
Young Royals
Top five fics by kudos
You crave the Applause / Yet hate the Attention
Lavender Haze
It's in the water, baby
Never Letting You Go
Close, Closer
Do you respond to comments?
Yessssss, I really want to reply to every comment I get because I appreciate people taking their time to write them a lot, but sadly I've been super busy this semester and so there are quite a few still waiting to be responded to. But!!! I've seen them, I have and continue to feel over the moon about them and some day you'll all get your replies!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
If we're only talking about the current fandom... none? I don't think I've ever given anything an angst ending. I don't even know if I'd be able to do that with Wilmon
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
By that logic, all the rest lmao. I think the ending that made me personally most giddy/happy for my blorbos was probably Lavender Haze because the potential, the big feelings that don't have a name yet, the I-really-wanna-see-you-again of it all? Yeah that one feels the happiest.
Do you get hate on fics?
Not usually, no. Although I had one salty anon who apparently thinks writing about characters being attracted to each other qualifies as fetishizing the actors? Lot to unpack there.
Do you write smut?
Yepppp
Craziest crossover:
I don't think I've ever written anything that could be considered a crossover
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yeah, in the early days of me writing fics people would go around and just... copy a whole fic and post it to their blog instead?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I get comments asking me if people can translate my fics, but I haven't seen a translation thus far, no.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope! Would love to try it some time though
All time favourite ship?
Wilmon all the waaaaayyy
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ugh the list is so long. One thing that I'd LOVE to write but I'm just not sure I've got it in me worldbuilding-wise is a fic where wilmon are ancient greek heroes to be
What are your writing strengths?
I've been told that "filth with feelings" is one of my strengths. Oh and some of my favorite compliments have been ones that said I was good at really getting into a character's (let's be real, it's Wille's) psyche
What are your writing weaknesses?
How long do you have lmao? Idk where to start, hmm. I think I just always question myself and every choice a little too much in general, I have a very weird mix of perfectionism and impatience going on, I start too many new things before old ones are finished, my English isn't as good as it could be, I don't know when to stop rambling...
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I really don't see why you wouldn't use it. I think it's a nice little touch, at least I like it a lot on YR fanfic. It needs to make sense of course, but why not have a casual little "nej" somewhere, I think that's fun!
First fandom you wrote in?
One Direction, in ye olden days (2012) lol
Favourite fic you've written?
Oh this is difficuuuuult, aaaaah. But tbh I like Lavender Haze and the sequel All this shit is new to me a lot. Those are my sweet, sweet babies, because, I think I've said this before, this is my first multichaptered Wilmon fic that isn't "just" pwalp (=porn with a little plot) and I feel like I get to try myself out a lot with All this shit. I like the process of writing it and as for Lavender Haze, there are just some tiny elements in there that I feel immensely proud of.
I'm gonna (very much no pressure) tag @grapehyasynth, @oneofthosebells, @toffeelemon, @goldenwilmon & @piebingo and anyone else who sees this and hasn't been tagged yet (and if I'm double-tagging, apologies!) πŸ’œ

*-cracks knuckles-* alright, let's do this!
⭐️ ― convincing portrayal of a canon character
Shout-out goes to @prodijedi. I love Callie's Dooku, he has so much depth and layers and cares so much about the people he loves deep down but is too deep in the mess he made and doesn't know how to show it, but Callie doesn't erase the fact that he has done terrible things.
πŸ’» ― excellent writing
Shouting at @tacticalvalor for this one. So far, I've only interacted with Paz but I love him, and I love how well he's written. Jay has a way of making Paz so expressive despite the fact he's covered head to toe in armor and -understandably- unwilling to take it off. His inner thoughts are always a delight to read and the things he says always manage to crack me up.
🌼 ― creative headcanons
I think there isn't a single person in this fandom that's not creative when it comes to headcanons because we're all pretty big brained with them. But if I have to name just one, I'm gonna go with @thrawnur I LOVE YOUR HEADCANONS PJ! And I love the HCs and worldbuilding we've worked on together for Chiss. Our blueberries deserve more lore!!
πŸŽ™οΈ οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ great to talk to
Shout-out to @corruptedforce/@crowsandmurder because Tanya is that one person you can always count on to be up to talk about literally anything. Everything I know about baseball, I learned from her. I also always love yelling with her about the stupid Star Wars questions people ask on Quora (still not over the person who had the audacity to ask why Obi-Wan didn't just kill Anakin, I'm outside their house with a baseball bat).
πŸ“š ― nice threads to read
To this day, I still go into @d4gangera's blog just to read the stuff KT writes, and not just the threads I'm in, but everything she writes. I love how she writes Dagan, his inner monologues, his trauma after spending decades in bacta, his issues with the Jedi Order and the Empire and this new era he got yeeted into. I love it all.
πŸŽ€ ― all-around kind person
@vendettavalor IS THE KINDEST BEAN EVER!! I'm still absorbing all the analogical horror stuff that you recommended me and you bet I'm going to be yelling in your DMs once I'm caught up.
πŸ₯‡ ― well-developed oc
Shout-out to @gwiazdowe for Cirz. HE'S BABEY!! I love him and how kind he is and how he sees good in people that nobody else would see good in. But he's not dumb. He's a smart boy and he deserved the world, I'm protecting him at all costs.
😍 ― admiring from afar
Not really from that far because we've actually talked but I have yet to start a thread with @alootus and that is a crime I should be in jail for. But I'm admiring because the blog theme is just so PRETTY, I love the color palette and the graphics.
πŸ“Œ ― a staple on the dash
I love seeing @kylo-wrecked's posts on the dash. From the aesthetic stuff to replies to answers to ask memes, it's always god tier content!
πŸ† ― 10/10 blog, would recommend
@ofthestcrs AMAZING MUN, AMAZING CHARACTERS, AMAZING BLOG! Gee is one of the first people I interacted with in this fandom and honestly, I'm holding on like an orphaned monkey. 10/10 will not be letting go anytime soon.

Happy Storyteller Saturday!
What's an element from your planning, research or worldbuilding that you're particularly excited about or obsessed with?
Share a snippet that shows it, if you'd like to πŸ’œ
Happy Storyteller Saturday, winter!! I've never and don't really participate in the ask days, but thank you very much nonetheless for the question❀ Answering for AoS because otherwise I'm gonna give myself 'quiv blues lmao.
So I get to talk about the Beast my beloved?? Awesome<3
The Beast of the Deep Night (designation: aberration of light) is all void limbs, its lambent eye, and all circular movements. There's one way to tell if its near: she swirls, circles, sways and dives for a star; everything is greyslate and suddenly you open the cabin door and see its lambent eye (that's how it tears itself a window into the universe). It can only move circularly because she follows a rhythm only it can see, though people still debate if it's because the Beast is removed from life, or if it follows the pattern of the universe itself<3
(And basically it makes planets furious, stars seethe, and humans crap themselves in fear) Now for the worldbuilding part I wanted to get to!!
(Got jumped in the middle of the chapter, and loved it. So naturally I wanna expand it further next time I'm writing)
There's another ongoing debate: if it's worse to die by the Beast or by the war. At one point everyone started to unanimously vote for the Beast and this is why: they believe it came into being because the universe was losing too much too quickly and got nothing in return, so it created a creature that couldn't lose anything to protect itself, and that it loathed the selfish.
So, if you are selfish enough and it devours you, she erases you. There won't be mourners, there won't even be death because it's as if you've never existed and disappear like smoke from the stars it snuffs out. So they're afraid of all the ghosts of people they might not remember, and they're afraid of being meaningless, of never having made a difference and of never having a single loved one light a lantern in remembrance, to grieve because they were loved.
And yeah, that's the original Beast: gatekeeper, homeless entity, IT specialist in deleting, glitch (when a nebula glitches, it's a heartbreaking phenomenon, but when a star glitches, it becomes undead remorse) and would probably the cutest critter in the universe if it asked for belly rubs in-between scratching and tearing, but alas.
Thanks so much for the question!!

Hey. I've seen some of your HB rewrites and their pretty cool. I even like some of the ideas you came up with (ex. Stolas & Stella being political enemies rather than a married couple, imps being intersex & following a binary gender system, etc).
I was wondering if you could give me some writing advice with rewrite stuff. See, I have this portfolio-like series called 'Let's Reimagine', where I revision (i.e. rewrite and/or redesign) a piece of media (be it a show, movie, webcomic, video game, etc), whether it be something I like, or something that while I'm not a fan of, believe that it could've been great (or at least decent) had it been handled better, while also integrating my OCs (including self-inserts) into my revisions as if they were canon characters in said media. This is one of my passion projects that I'd love to bring to life someday, as I wish to make YouTube videos about them when I create my YT channel (which doesn't exist at this point in time) in the future, so for now, I'm starting small by making posts talking about my revisions on Tumblr & Reddit as like a practice run of sorts (like for ex. creating a manga and then having that manga get an anime adaptation, or creating a comic (like a webcomic) and having that be adapted into an animation of some sort (ex. series, short(s), etc), or creating a book or novel and having said book or novel being adapted into a movie and/or series).
I'm also an aspiring writer who wishes to share their stories with everyone for them to enjoy, including 'Let's Reimagine' (where Helluva Boss is one of the shows I plan on reimagining, due to the many issues it's got, especially with the increase of them in Season 2; as much as I like & enjoy HB, I do have to agree that it's kind of a mess, and I get where fans are coming from with its criticisms, especially towards Season 2). However, there are some issues of mine that I feel could detriment my writing abilities & projects (including 'Let's Reimagine') in general (ex. not thinking about potential plot holes, inconsistencies, worldbuilding/lore issues, & questionable/weak/bad writing choices/ideas, rushing into things before thinking & planning stuff out, worrying about my stories not being good enough for anyone to enjoy, feeling inferior compared to other artists & writers, people hating what I make, and thinking the worst possible outcomes; apologizes if that got a little too personal and if I (potentially) made you worried; I suffer from anxiety and have a tendency to get anxious and worked up too quickly, especially when thinking negatively, and trying to be a perfectionist, worrying that if I or my content aren't perfect, then I come across as a failure; but I assure you that I am trying to work on these issues and getting past them for the better).
So, with all that said, do you have any advice in creating & doing rewrites/revisions (ex. planning stuff out, character arcs/development, worldbuilding/lore, plot points, fixing & covering plot holes & inconsistences, fulfilling wasted/missed potential & missed opportunities, avoiding questionable/weak/bad writing choices/ideas, integrating ocs/self-inserts into said rewrite/revision, etc) to any writers out there (including aspiring ones)?
Feel free to respond back to me whenever you get the chance. Thank you and have a wonderful day/afternoon/night. πŸ€—πŸ’•β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ€—
Tumblr media
This is very late, I'm so sorry it took me this long to answer your ask.
Things has changed sufficiently from when this ask was submitted. My HB rewrite is on currently on pause so I can focus on my Hazbin one instead.
I do like the concept of your Let's Reimagine series. It sounds like a fun passionate project in which you experiment with your writing and show tough love for the shows you're rewriting for. I hope soon you'll be able to release your first rewrite for the series.
I have some general writing advice and one specific advice for rewrites I personally use.
Create the world building first
If your rewrite takes place in a fantasy world, I suggest fleshing the world building first before the characters. This is a different world from our, so their rules and lore will affect these characters differently, and you should know why first to explain the certain elements of the both the characters and world. Fleshing the world building first can help create plot ideas and external conflict easier.
Have a Beta Reader
This one is standard. I suggest having a beta reader to review your rewrites and concepts. As writers, we think our stories make sense because we know the context, but to readers who don't know anything, our scripts realistically be confusing at first. Along the same vain, they can help you realize that an idea is underdeveloped or useless. Another good reason is they can offer new and improved concepts and ideas you didn’t or wouldn't think of before.
Be open to criticism
Criticism will help you grow as a writer. You don't have to like them all or listen to every piece, but still keep an open mind because they can and will help you. I heavily suggest being open to criticism specially when you’re writing a topic you have no experience in (Ex: mental illness, addiction, a specific identity). Again, not only will it help you improve, but also portray those topics better.
Rewrite
My only rewrite specific advice is to expand and flesh out ideas and characters, you felt the original show skimmed over. In both of my rewrites, I'm putting a greater focus on the world building, dark character concepts and how they intertwined with each other because the shows barely touches on them. It's your rewrite so do whatever you want with it, don’t feel limitless.
I hope this helps!

Tumblr media
here is maren's primary reference sheet πŸ’œ
for written info, there's a write-up on him on his toyhouse that talks about his personality and some of his backstory. I'm still hammering out a lot of details regarding his pre-Katakuri life, he's an old(ish) guy so he's been through a lot!
maren's story: he was born on Fishman Island and moved to Water 7 at a young age where he tried (and failed) to catch Tom's attention as an engineer and shipwright. he's skilled in those fields but tends to be lazy and doesn't have good attention to detail. after the sea train was completed, he met Whitebeard and joined his crew, where he stayed up until Marineford. right after Marineford he married Smoothie in hopes of salvaging fishman island from some of big mom's wrath, as a former WB territory. that's where he met Katakuri πŸ’•
katakuri & maren: they form a close friendship because they're both able to recognize how similar they are to each other. katakuri guards his true self by putting on a mask of perfection, maren guards his true self by putting on a clown outfit--two sides of the same coin.
unfortunately, things don't go well for maren in tottoland, and after realizing he had feelings for katakuri, someone who he knows would never reciprocate those feelings, he escapes with Smoothie's help (cus she also doesn't want to be married to him.) katakuri is very hurt by the news of losing maren, but has already accepted a life of loneliness and makes no attempt to follow.
news of katakuri's defeat eventually spreads and, filled with emotion and fear at the news (maren has lost many people close to him), maren practically flies to totto land to be at his side. after that they become inseparable, and eventually become romantically involved.
hehe I gave a little more detail than I meant to but I just get so excited talking about them! thank you for sending this ask πŸ₯ΊπŸ’œ

Author Ask Game
Tagged by the lovely @mariahwritesstuff here, @writernopal here, and @tisiphonewolfe here, @void-botanist here - thank you allπŸ’œ
Gently passing the tag to: @starlit-hopes-and-dreams @vollzz @rbbess110 @flock-from-the-void @pheita @i-can-even-burn-salad (feel free to ignore if you've done it already)
1. What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
I don't write with the aim to teach a lesson. However, after figuring out the plot, I'll look back and see what message I can focus on. Usually, it's kindness, but I also hope to inspire people to find strength within themselves.
2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
A lot of real world cultures and history. In the case of my main setting, the amount of research into the history and culture of Central and Eastern Europe in the 18th century (especially the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) would probably be enough to write straight up historical fiction, buuuut I like the fantasy elements, and I don't enjoy writing non-queernormative societies. So here we are.
The second instalment, The Truth Teller, is again in a fantasy version of the Eastern Bloc, and I get a lot of inspiration from talking to people who've lived there in the second half of the 20th century.
Finally, The Fulcrum is an exercise in worldbuilding. It started with a question, what would happen if evolution took a different path, and the dominant sentient species was most closely resembling birds. Other than that, I use it as an excuse to explore other periods in history - primarily late-Bronze and Iron Age.
3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
The goal is different every time. E.g. for Days of Dusk:
In Gifts of Fate, Lissan is the MC, and he wants to survive without hurting anyone (the demon possessing him makes it difficult). What I want to achieve with him is to inspire people to persevere.
In The Prince's Shadow Erya is trying to kill Lissan, while dealing with complicated grief. My goal is to inspire people to move on, without preaching forgiveness (the two main characters still hate each other at the end).
In Prodigal Children, Lissan, Erya, and Gullin are the three MCs who are told with absolute certainty that something terrible will happen and it will result in war. They each try to deal with it in a different way. Erya aims to minimise the damage. Gullin thinks he can't do anything about it, so he focuses on protecting his loved ones. Lissan refuses to accept that it will happen at all. My goal as the writer is to showcase that each of these responses has its merits and can't be condemned from the get go.
4. How many chapters is your story going to have?
I'm a pantser, so I can answer it only for completed drafts. Gifts of Fate currently has 49 chapters, averaging just over 2k words each - with the total being 109k.
5. Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Everything I post on this blog is original. I don't plan to post the novel-length project online - I'm hoping to publish them traditionally. Some side WIPs may end up being posted here or on AO3 (the unnamed parody thingy that still needs a title), and my Silmarillion fanfiction can be found here (more to come).
6. When and why did you start writing?
I vaguely recall writing my first fantasy heroine self-insert story at the age of 11 or so, then Tolkien fanfiction when I was 15-18, then original fiction onwards. It started as an outlet to my creativity, but now it's to get some peace and quiet in my mind. If I don't put the stories down on paper, they keep buzzing in my head, being distracting.
7. Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
Words of encouragement? Just do it. Imperfect doesn't mean bad. Don't let 'perfect' be the enemy of 'good'.
I follow a tonne of writeblrs, so here are a handful of shoutouts: @acertainmoshke @writernopal @tabswrites @toribookworm22 @winterandwords @aether-wasteland-s
Blank questions below:

For the fic ask game!! 5, 6, and/or 7?
Thank you for the ask πŸ’œ
5. What do you wish someone would ask you about [insert fic]? Answer it now!
As a general rule, I wish someone would ask me about [insert fic] period. I love writing and I love talking about my writing. Any and all questions, comments, rants, screaming, whatever is welcome πŸ’œ
The first specific thing that did pop up in my head is actually for a wip: The Dusk Before a New Dawn (my Dark Melizabeth AU). I've come up with my own spell for this fic and would LOVE for someone to ask me about the words. But I'm not gonna answer that now. Honestly, it's so silly and stupid it might ruin the mood of the scene if you know what the spell actually says. But:
Once the fic is actually posted, someone please ask me what the spell words in The Dusk Before a New Dawn means!
6. What’s one fact about the universe of [insert fic] that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?
Ooh, this is a tough question because a lot of my fics are part of AUs that I definitely wanna build onto and write more stories for, which means some things will get mentioned/explained in future fics.
But one thing I really want to talk more about is Meliodas' communication in my Monster Sins AU. I'm not sure how much I'll get into it in later fics but it's something I've put a lot of thought into (especially after writing the first fic, oops).
In the first (and so far only) fic in the AU, One Man's Beast, the demons' communication is very much swept under the rug because we experience it through the ignorant perspective of not only an outsider but a human one at that. Through the fic Gavin (our human outsider) notes that Meliodas communicates with King through sounds like rumbling and purring. Gavin dismisses this as just an alternative to speaking since Meliodas' is muzzled and can't actually speak, but it's actually a lot more than that.
The average human relies on two kinds of communication, right? Verbal communication (spoken and written language) and non-verbal communication (body language, facial expressions, gestures and whatnot). The demons in this AU also have a third kind of communication consisting of purring, growling, humming and other sounds like that in a system just as complex as the spoken language. Meaning that yes, Meliodas relied heavily on this (so far unnamed) communication because of the muzzle, but at the same time he might have just used that communication even if he could have spoken.
Gavin also notes that King seem to understand what Meliodas tries to say, which he actually does. Now, this kind of communication is specific to the demons, meaning most people wouldn't understand Meliodas like that, but the Seven Deadly Sins do! Obviously, they can't use this communication themselves, and might not understand everything or exactly what Meliodas says like another demon would, but they've known him for years and have learned to interpret this communication. So, he still can and does use it frequently with them. It's a great asset actually, he can alert them to a threat without having to actually speak the words, meaning they could keep the element of the surprise against enemies trying to catch them by surprise.
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
As you might be able to tell I have a special fondness for the above mentioned AU. But since most of that is still yet to be written or posted (and I've already rambled about that one in this post), I'll go with another one. The way the demons' bodies work in The Heat of the Storm.
What's funny about this is that it was something that just kind of happened? I couldn't decide which prompt I wanted to use since I wanted to both write about Meliodas having a fever and him being stuck and suffering in a snow storm (natural disaster). So instead I decided to do both and came up with a special way the demons inner temperature is dependent and reactive to the environment's temperature. I love making the demons more demon and less human, and this is one of the ways I'm especially proud of!
Anyway. Here's the list for the ask game, if anyone else wanna send me something :)

Hey Sol. I've seen some of your Winx Reignited content and I am loving it. I especially love what you did with Charmix, as I love the outfits and find them to be both pretty and cute.
Anyways, I was wondering if I could ask you something about rewrite stuff. You see, I'm currently in my Ben 10 Reboot hyperfixation phase and, being an aspiring writer myself, am developing a fanfiction rewrite for the series called Ben 10 Reboot Reimagined (though I should note that it's possible that the fanfic's name could change in the future). It's currently in its early development stage (as I have a wip for the rewrite's premiere + a notebook (which is fittingly green given that's the main color of Ben 10 himself) talking about my rewritten fanfic au) and I'm having some trouble with planning things out for the rewrite itself. So, I thought maybe I could ask you for some rewrite advice given you've posted ideas of your Winx rewrite on your blog (which are great btw).
Do you have any advice & tips on how to plan a rewrite out (ex. episodes (rewritten or fanmade), worldbuilding, arcs (plot & character-related), characters (including ocs & self-inserts), etc) from experience with your Winx Reignited project?
Feel free to respond back to me whenever you get the chance. Thank you and have a wonderful day/afternoon/night. πŸ€—πŸ’•β€οΈπŸ§‘πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ€—
Hiii
First I would like to state i’m kinda bad at advice but i’ll try to explain how my rewrite is kinda in development
I don’t really view the story episode by episode I mostly view it story point by story point so all the filler already kinda falls out so you are left with the more basic straightforward plot. So that you can later ad in own filler and character moments.
With some parts you might wanna stick closer to the canon while with other parts you might wanna completely redo them depending on like plo5 holes and inconsistencies
Mos5 important factor is to make it so it stays enjoyable to work on
Some characters might be more the focus of your ideas while others aren’t and that’s no problem sometimes the chats weren’t even canonicaly important and they still end up becoming your favorite!
Some elements can feel more like a puzzle that was put together in a way that doesn’t really make sense so it’s good to try and have a look at what points you can alter/move/remove to make the story flow better
And sometimes you get 1 small idea and it ends up magically fixing stuff and sometimes you gotta look back and see if then things you added were also affected and how to change it.
I hope this helps ?!

❀️ Happy WorldBuilding Wednesday! ❀️
What are your cities or towns like? Feel free to talk about the layouts or the people or the architecture, etc. and to talk about more than one if you'd like!
Hello lovely! Thank you so much for the ask πŸ’œ
The city in Bridge From Ashes and Project Aria is heavily inspired by Bay City in Altered Carbon and Mega City One in Judge Dredd, as well as contemporary and theoretical green city planning. Everything is huge and densely populated, and I love the idea of buildings being absolutely massive and having not just gardens but whole parks and forests in and on them.
I also got low-key obsessed with large-scale food production and vertical farming methods because all the food production, other manufacturing, and energy and waste processing happens in the facilitation zones beyond the city boundaries and I like to know about the sci in my sci-fi even if I don't do into much detail about it in the books.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let's spread the self-love πŸ’ž
phoebe!! this is such a brilliant and thoughtful ask game - thank you SO much for thinking to pass it on to me ❀️ also, i am SO sorry that it's taken me a week to actually reply to this πŸ™ˆ i saw this, LOVED this, but then had to go to work so didn't have time to answer it properly... and then of course had forgotten completely about it by the time i got back from work. i am literally THE WORST when it comes to answering my asks, istg πŸ₯²
but here we are now! it's monday, and i feel like we could ALL use a bit of self-love on mondays, so i'll be passing this on ASAP once i'm done here. thank you again for thinking of me ❀️❀️and let's do this!!
my top 5 fics that i have written (for my current fandom), in no particular order:
love's a game, wanna play - AKA my fake dating AU, the one that really started it all, the one that's probably still the most self-indulgent thing i've ever written. this is probably the fic i have most enjoyed writing, out of everything i've written - it never fails to make me smile. ❀️ fake dating is just one of my favourite tropes ever, and they're my favourite boys, and.... yeah. MASSIVE soft spot for this one, always. (and yes: i am going to update this one day. i really am. but it might not be soon, because like i said, this fic is one which i genuinely enjoy writing. but currently, my writing is coming more in fits and starts/intermittent writer's block, unfortunately. i feel like i can't truly write a chapter of fake dating until i'm truly ENJOYING writing again. but whenever that is? you can bet there will be a chapter 7, because yeah, i fucking love this fic. it is my BABY. my beloved <333)
you are perfection, my only direction (it's fire on fire) - my dragon riders au, and the one that's my pride and joy for its worldbuilding and just the high fantasy/soulmatism theme of it all. worldbuilding and fantasy and soulmate themes are (you guessed it) some of my favourite tropes to read about, and i am really proud of the way i turned that into writing here πŸ’™
it's you and me, that's my whole world - my prince!charles and his oblivious pining really-dumb-for-an-engineering-student idiot of a best friend pierre. this one just makes me feel so soft and fond whenever i go back and reread it - i just, i love them, your honour. (and charles IS the prince of monaco. the end.) πŸ’œ
long live the walls we crashed through - AKA my emotional reaction to the seb retirement announcement (i processed it by making him give relationship advice to half the grid (because why wouldn't i?) and then taking his OWN advice and finally going to talk to lewis.) it's soft and meaningful, and it's sewis, and it's a healthy dose of seb & the grid feels, and it just means a lot to me. a lot. πŸ’š
so i guess all the rumours are true (you know i love a rouen boy) - ahhhhhhh, so, choosing the last one was SO hard for me, but in the end it just had to be this one: my monaco vlog au (AKA the one where i watched charles' monaco vlog in 2022, then rewatched it way too many times until the only thought left in my brain was "oh my god, i have to make this about piarles somehow.) and i did. and i am still very proud and very fond of this one πŸ’›
HONOURABLE MENTIONS (because i can't NOT, and also because choosing was SO HARD for me) to your lips, my lips (apocalypse) and Game For Two and (you are the best thing that's ever been) mine. these three fics are all very special to me, in their own ways, and more than deserve their mentions on my honourable-mentions podium <333 ❣️
thank you again for this amazing ask (and for giving me the chance to go through my own fic archives!) this was an amazing way to make me smile again on a monday evening, and i hope that this answer might make some of you reading it smile too <333 ily all!!

For your ask game! 25, 51, & 72 πŸ’œ
Thank you very much β™₯️
25) What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?
My favourite part is the writing part cause I tend to get a story line in mind or a certain plot I wanna reach, and the way I get to it I find sort of satisfying.
51) Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read?
Sort of? It can hit the marks I would tend to enjoy finding in what I read but a lot of the time I know I can’t write the certain parts I enjoy reading and I’ve accepted it.
72) What’s your favorite writing compliment you’ve gotten?
Oooh… my favourites are your comments to be honest! I always enjoy it when you come to my dms to talk more about the piece. Though my top favourite i think may be is: I really love how you wrote Aemond in this request. Like, we all love suave and sexy Aemond, but this seems more true to Fire & Blood Aemond. It is very well done. Still, I adore every compliment and just adore when people ramble on and make connections in certain pieces

7. Any worldbuilding you're particularly proud of?
Okay this is silly but I love my Revachol Botanical Gardens. Every single dilapidated seaside city with a local government making half-hearted nods towards reinvestment that I've ever been to has had one- a big sprawling garden with shitty lighting so it gets kind of dangerous at night and crumbling pavements and facilities that haven't been updated since the 50s... intended to be this big hub of life, with live music and plants from all across Elysium growing in the brick raised beds, but the budget was out of whack and now there's a half-built bandstand covered in graffito and lamps that don't turn on and an uneven pavement that you'd never get a wheelchair down. And you look at it and think, you know, what a waste. They could do so much more with it, it could be a real community hub, they put so much money into it that could have been used so much more practically. And when people try to fix it the government shoot down their attempts. Idk I just like the image, I think it's very Revachol. Just like the failed reinvestment project in Martinaise. It's another example of Revachol being held in limbo. I liked it so much I've used it in a few fics now.
27. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or a fic that had only dialogue?
Do the skills count as dialogue?? Because if they do then only dialogue 100%. If not then it gets trickier. I'm not too fond of my dialogue, I think it's one of the weaker parts of my writing, so probably no dialogue.
33. If you write chaptered fics, what's your ideal chapter length to write? Is it different from your ideal chapter length to read?
Ough. My chapters usually end up way longer than I intend them to be, around 8k quite often when I'm aiming for 6ish. That's around ideal for me reading-wise, but I feel like writing-wise they're a bit long for me. I get overwhelmed when I try and edit haha.
50. Answer any question of your choice or talk about anything you want to talk about.
Hmmm. I guess, I'm working on non-fic writing in real life too right now. I just got a few poems accepted for publication in a collection, which is pretty exciting to me because although I've been published a few times it's been a while since I've had the energy to submit anything. It's silly, but I got all giddy about it :)
Thank youuu πŸ’œπŸ’œ

For the fic writer's ask: πŸ’ž πŸ’ and πŸŽ€
Thanks πŸ’œ
πŸ’ž what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language
The characters, definitely. The characters are the backbone of any story. And to illustrate the point, I'll posit this scenario:
Say you go to one of those by-the-road tiny libraries, and there are two books inside that you can choose to read.
One book has intricate, expansive world-building; the author clearly put all their time into developing the lore of their world, to the point where the bulk of every chapter is infodumping about the world's history and cultural practices. However, as a consequence, the characters are very flat and one-dimensional, only serving as vessels to exposit more about the world they live in rather than having lives of their own.
The other book leaves a lot to the imagination about the worldbuilding. The author spends only the barest minimum of time on the world's history, gives you only enough pieces to be able to form a rough picture in your head of what the world currently looks like before they move on. There are many gaps here that they leave to you, the reader, to fill in. However, the characters are three-dimensional individuals, each with their own motivation and relationships and conflicts.
Which book would you rather read?
It's personal preference, of course. Some people LOVE world-building and it's what they care about most with any fictional narrative. But for me, I couldn't give less of a damn about it most of the time. I hate doing it myself, and I tend to dislike stories that spend ages expositing about this location or that world event. The entire reason I dislike Tolkien novels is because he spends what feels like three chapters describing a meadow. I just don't care about that. I want the characters, the dialogue, the relationships. I enjoy stories that are largely slice of life because those slices of life give us yet another avenue of insight into the characters and their relationships. I don't care how intricate your world-building is; if your characters are boring, I will put your book back.
All that said, grammar and writing style is also very important to me. Epithets, except for in cases where the point-of-view character doesn't know another character's name, make me want to claw my eyes out. And I put The Hunger Games back on the shelf when the first sentence of the first book was Katniss using purple prose to exposit about her sister. Writing style is integral to my enjoyment of a story. As I've said to various people before, I am super picky.
πŸ’what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
Hm, well, I was surprised that I only got one mean comment for including Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts in chapter three of Beyond Oblivion. I was expecting way more people to take issue with that, lol. Although, when I later made a poll asking what fic people would like me to work on next, pretty much no one voted for that one, so . . . maybe people were just being polite, LOL.
Other than that, I did expect more people to be interested in Inflection Point, given that at the time I wrote it a lot of people were interested in Beyond Oblivion, so I thought a prequel showing how Miles ended up where he was would be interesting. But it got very little attention, so I thought wrong lmao. It's fine though; I still had a nice time writing it, so not all was lost.
πŸŽ€give yourself a compliment about your own writing
I'm very skilled when it comes to dialogue. I can hear conversations in my head and transcribe them easily, and the same goes with jumping from character voice to character voice without skipping a beat. My characters might be talking in a void, but at least they're talking!

βŒπŸ§πŸ€—πŸ€―
Hey Glen.πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ I apologize in advance because I know this is going to be long.
❌ What’s a trope you will never write?
A/B/O - doesn't mean I don't read it on occasion.
🧐 Do you spend much time researching for your stories?
The answer to that is here.🀣
πŸ€— What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
My response is going to sound cliche, but I mean it from the bottom of my heart.
Just write, and write for yourself! If you want to write, then write. If you want to get better, keep writing. Write stories about characters or themes that you enjoy. It will make writing much easier.
Don't get hung up on likes, reblogs, and comments. Yes, it is fabulous to see tons of likes and comments. Yes, you get more exposure with reblogs. But if that's the only reason you write, you will get discouraged very quickly. Someone somewhere is going to like, reblog and profess their undying gratitude and love for your story. Take those moments to heart and be happy for them. Your audience will eventually grow.
Read. Find stories you like, not just fanfic, and read. Take note of the things you like about those stories. Dialogue, descriptions, worldbuilding... whatever it is, if you enjoy it, you will probably enjoy writing it. Never, EVER, plagiarise - use what you like as examples for your own take on something.
Network. Follow the blogs of writers you like, reblog their fics, and interact with your followers. It doesn't have to be a 24/7 thing. You don't have to write long, glowing reviews on a reblog every time. Keyboard smashes, pointing out a scene or a line of dialogue you like, emojis, and in some cases, yelling at us (in a loving manner) are also appreciated.🀣🀣🀣 It doesn't mean you need to interact with everyone who follows you. If you're not comfortable reaching out to individual followers, then post a little blurb once in a while to tell all your followers how much you appreciate them. Do whatever you are comfortable with doing, but if your end goal is to build a following, then some interaction will be required.
A second set of eyes. While not required, I suggest getting a good beta/alpha reader. Having someone, even a close friend, to bounce ideas with and share in your excitement about a story concept can be invaluable
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. πŸ˜¬πŸ€—
🀯 What’s a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?
Sensual, romantic smut. I can do down-and-dirty or fun-and-flirty. Anything in between is difficult.
Thanks for the ask.😘
