i hate baby jonny being sad and upset over will(;_;) it BREAKS MY HEART and after i finished reading him getting scared i couldn’t stop imagining what would happen if max had a nightmare :0

*getting the scene set up please standby*

ok so she’s at mike’s house and the whole party’s there including the older teens and they’ve had a movie bing, they’ve pigged out on junk food, they’ve been talking about everything and nothing and now they’ve finally gone to sleep with no problems, aside from steve having to sneak into holly’s room to steal her nightlight for jonathan, and everything’s good

she had stayed big the whole night and was having some lovely rest but then it all comes crashing back

she sees billy, the spider monster, el in terrible pain, the monster from the hospital, everything that happened that night, and she wakes up in a cold panic, scared and unfortunately little:(

she tries not to make a lot of noise while she silently sobs because it’s past midnight but steve knows when one of his babies is in trouble and wakes up in an instant

“ max, is everything okay?”

“ sorry stevie, i didn’t mean to wake you up”

“ that’s okay, do you wanna- *he’s cut off by max running from her spot next to lucas and jonny to his lap*

“ it was so scary stevie, i saw b-billy and the monsters and and…”

“ oh i’m so sorry sweetheart, how about a cookie, hmm? can a cookie cheer you up?”

“ m’kay, but can you hold me? i still scared”

“ of course! i’ll do anything to make my max happy”

*fast-forward to the kitchen*

“ chocolate chip or-

steve’s stops when he hears sniffles, sniffles he knows all too well

“ jonny? what are you doing up?”

“ max was gone”

“ no i not, i right here” *points to herself to make the point clear*

“ but not when i woke up:( me and ducky got scared”

“ well she’s here right now, she was upset that’s all”

“what!” *he and max are shocked because he never raises his voice unless he’s screaming* * even the paci falls out*

“ don’ be upset! i right here, i’ll make it better:) uppies?”

“ i don’t know buddy, i already have max..” but those eyes, those sweet eyes that break steve everytime

“ oh alright, c’mere”

now he has two babies in his arm, hugging each other with cookie crumbs on their face, when eddie and robin walk in

“ are you guys having cookies without me?”

“ that’s exactly what they’re doin’ robin, they left us out!”

“ no baby, not at all, you see max was upset and then jonny found out and one thing led to another and…”

let’s just say steve was up an extra two hours with all of them, having to squeeze his eyes shut so the puppy eyes won’t make him give them all more cookies（*＾ワ＾*）i swear if you tell lucas or nancy or will or uncle wayne about this midnight snacking…

max was happy, she had steve, her favorite friend in the whole wide world(minus el obvi) and robin and eddie to make her feel better and that nightmare was long forgotten

later steve asks her about it and she says she just can’t shake billy, he scares her to the core when she thinks about him flayed, and steve assures her that he and everyone else would always be there for her<3

nightly rambles while listening to hamilton is sm fun(>▽<)

baby jonny being upset over will is just. 💔he loves his wuh-wuh so much okay!!! AND NOW MAXIE W THE NIGHTMARE OH NO ｡･ﾟﾟ*(>д<)*ﾟﾟ･｡

steve could be in a deep REM sleep with the world around him absolutely dead to him & he would still be able to sense when one of his little ones are crying, regardless if it's silent or if he's in a different room. that's simply the mother hen in him coming out (*´˘`*)♡

when max climbs into his lap, crying about billy and the monsters and el being hurt, steve takes a moment to rock her gently, wiping tears from her eyes when she calms down. "cookies make everything better, yknow. do you want a cookie?"

"mhm .. hold me, tho, pease"

the gang actually baked a lot of different cookies earlier that night bc half of them were craving something sweet, but everyone couldn't agree on just two different kinds: there's chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal (not oatmeal raisin), butter ... so many different kinds (≡^∇^≡) max is given the option of three different cookies bc who is steve to deny her that? (his initial bargain was 2 cookies but max said please & he caved instantly)

then jonny toddles into the kitchen, ducky in arms & paci in his mouth, eyes kinda teary bc he woke up & maxie and teeb were gone :((

"hey, bud! it's alright, maxie just had a nightmare–"

"maxie hadda nigh'mare?!"

just like max is ready to throw hands w jonny's nightmares, he's ready to chuck his stuffie at her's! how dare a nightmare make his friend upset! thankfully when his paci tumbles out of his mouth in shock it's caught by the paci clip attached to his shirt so it doesn't fall to the floor. max is like "it's okay! i okay, now!" & points to the cookies on the stove. "i'm getting cookies!"

jonny still wants uppies, just to make sure his buddy's doing extra okay ... and he also wants cookies ksndksnd & steve definitely can't say no to his sweet little eyes!! so he gets his three choice cookies, too!!

they end up having milk with their cookies, mainly bc steve wanted to dunk his chocolate chip cookie in some & the littles were like "oooo ... milk too, pease?" max gets chocolate & jonny gets angel milk, n they're all rlly content

then eddie & robin come toddling in side by side, awakened by the smell of freshly heated cookies, and they are so SCANDALIZED to find the three of them munching on cookies & milk WITHOUT them! they literally GASP & that's what catches everyone else's attention

"eddie! they're eating cookies without uuuuss!"

"that's no faaaaair!!" ･ﾟ･( ｡>д<｡)･ﾟ･

eddie's pouting so hard his cheeks r puffed out & robin's genuinely abt to cry bc she loves cookies so much — they're one of her favorite sweets — & to know there are three people eating them without her is such a horrendous crime to her little brain!! and if robin starts crying, eddie's gonna start crying, & his cries are loud so that's gonna make jonny cry bc he doesn't like loud noises, & that's also gonna wake other people up, & steve doesn't want any of that in the middle of the night \(;≡ω≡)

"hey, hey, it's okay! you guys can have some cookies too, there's enough for everybody! max was just upset, then jonny woke up and i couldn't leave him out while he watched max get her cookies, so..."

he lets the two of them have their top three choices & fixes eddie his chocolate milk; robin doesn't want milk, but she does want ice cream, so she gets a half scoop in a small bowl, & all is well again!

... until robin pulls out the puppy dog eyes for more ice cream and eddie copies her bc now he wants some ice cream, then max whips out the puppy dog eyes just to help them out bc she's a little menace at heart

"nope, nope, nope! you guys already had three cookies, and robin, you had ice cream!"

"pleeeeeeease, steviiiiiie?"

"n-no more sweets for the night, nuh-uh!"

"preeeeetty pleeeeease?"

"no more– n-no more sweets, nope...! no, no, no ... j-jonny, help a buddy out, here!"

jonny just giggles while he sips at the rest of his milk. " 'nother cookie for ducky, pease?" (ducky does not, in fact, want a cookie, jonny rlly thinks the other three ganging up on steve while he tries SO hard to stand his ground to puppy dog eyes is funny)

"oh dear god, not ducky too!"

he ends up caving and gives them their ice cream jonny a refill of angel milk, & a few bread crumbs for ducky instead of a cookie, but he put up a good fight — he stood his ground for a good 45 seconds 😭 "okay, that's IT! no more!"

okay, maybe no more sweets ... but now they want popcorn to even it out 🤭 "alriiiight ... but if you tell lucas or nancy OR will OR uncle wayne, they're going to have my head-" ESPECIALLY nancy; she's been teaching him how to stand up to the puppy dog eyes for forEVER now & he's still caving omg ,, the day he finally stands up to them will be a day of celebration

they pinky swear their secrecy. steve will not lose his head tonight!!

and two hours past midnight, after letting them munch on popcorn & a little bit of juice, then flipping on some tv at a low volume, they conk out again, all in a tangled pile of limbs <3

in spanish is "Los Indeseables" (the undesirables?) which sounds a lot more badass

no hate tho i like the dregs

but i was confused af bc i expected it to be sometihng like "the undesirables" or"the unwanted" or whatever

and it said "the dregs"

That Kaz had chosen Jesper to be one of his seconds was no surprise. Twitchy as Jepser was, with or without his revolvers, he was at his best in a fight, and she knew he'd do anything for Kaz.

Kaz was usually unshakeable during a job, but now he was on edge, and Jesper didn't know why. Part of him wanted to ask, though he knew that was the stupid part, the hopeful farmboy who picked the worst possible person to care about, who searched for signs in things that he knew deep down meant nothing - when kaz chose him for a job, when Kaz played along with one of his jokes. He could have kicked himself. He's finally seen the infamous Kaz Brekker without a stich of clothing, and he'd been too worried about ending up on a pike to pay proper attention.

ok i got a couple of things to say about this part

first of all it makes me so sad that jes cares so much for someone who dosn't deserve him. because no hate to kaz but they would never work as a couple and kaz already treats him like shit most of the time

i think this part shows who a lot about who jesper really is. a boy that grew up having to hide parts of himself, who thinks he's worth nothing but it's smart and capable, who's loyal and brave and caring but doesn't even know it himself. he's someone who feels he doesn't deserve good things and thinks he's not good enough, and that's why he unds up in all the wrong places with the wrong people. he left uni bc he fell in with the gangs, because he didn't think he was smart enough or even prepared to be in studying in the university. jesper is constantly hiding behind a mask or running from things because he's scared of not being enough

an kaz is everything jes in a way wishes he could be. kaz is secure in himself (at least on the outside), he's stable, he's smart, he's "unshakeable". and most of all, he doesn't care about others (we know that's not true but that's how he presents himself)

and that's the thing that causes jesper all his problems. because he's insecure because he thinks he's not good enough for the poeple or things he cares about. and he's always trying to do what's best for his loved ones: he went to the ice court to pay his debt for his father, he follows kaz everywhere beacause he cares about him, he offered to read to wylan (knowing it wouldn't be easy for him to be still that long).

and yeah it often doesn't work out becuase he's messy and he has problems but he tries. and he hates that. he hates that he cares so much about people because at the end of the day, that's what makes him feel like he's not good enough

one more thing and i'm done i promise

unpopular opinion but i love that leigh made jesper have a crush on kaz. 1 beacuse it's refreshing to see someone not get otgether with his first crush. and 2 because i love that it shows that we sometimes get attached to people that are not good for us, but that we can learn to move on. jesper ended with wylan who respects him and values him, unlike kaz

So overall it was a wild ride this episode, we’re half way there, i’m wondering how they’re going to wrap up the Lex story, since you know he got to walk away from all the things he did. Still don’t know how William fits in all of this, his character should’ve never been introduced (imo). All supercorp aside, if they’re going to force some shitty relationship let them be single instead. I hope they address the trauma Kara suffered while being in the PZ. There’s a whole lot more to say but this post is already freaking long so, we’ll leave it like this. Any thoughts or comments are welcome and please remember to always be respectful!

Well it is a canon option in the game, tho we all know I am not too fond of El myself. I might be willing to give it a go after actually playing BE solely so I know what their supports and story might be like.

I am not quite sure how that one’s supposed to pan out, given Dedue doesn’t really talk much to others and Dorothea doesn’t seem like the type to go for someone like Dedue... but then again that could make things interesting? Mercie and Bernie. Mercedes has really the patience of a saint and a heart of gold, she’d be more than happy to spoil Bernadetta with some sweets and invite her to some tea. They could sew together and start their own little sewing sessions and tea parties. Of course, Mercedes wouldn’t want to pressure Bernie into anything but she’d be supportive and overall just Mercedes. Overall pretty wholesome and cute shit. Tho I still think Bernie and Ignatz deserved some supports too

4. Hubert ✕ Lysithea

LOOK, at this point those two are canon, I don’t make the rules, Katya except I do. No but all joking aside, I rlly started to dig this ship a LOT. We have so much established I LOVE them.

5. Dimitri ✕ Annette

They are BABIES. I loved their supports of them saying it felt like they grew up together because of Gilbert telling each of them stories of the other. Annette cares deeply for all her friends and companions and honestly, I can see them getting closer, maybe at first just to get to know each other better and then, yknow, some bittersweet soft slowburn.

What do your Gilmore Girls oc’s - as in, the ones related to the Gilmore’s, (Hope, Kit, etc), think of Jason and Lorelei’s relationship to him?

Um okay lesse.

Starting off with Amelia she’s not super keen on him. Unlike Max he doesn’t bother trying to get to know Lorelai’s kids and that rubs her the wrong way. She’s also already dealing with Luke impulse-marrying/haphazardly dating Nicole ( iirc? I gotta look up the timeline but I believe so) and is kinda “can you two just be single for one entire year??” She doesn’t know much about him but her impression of him is that he’s cut from the same Hartford cloth as her grandparents and she very much wonders what her mom sees in him ( and asks Rory as much when they’re hanging out just the two of them) Also the insistence of “date me. Please date me.” prior to his relationship with Lorelai absolutely spooks her and she’s constantly squinting like “do I Need to use the right hook dad taught me or nah?” and she might get some guys from the SHH football team to kick him out of the Firefly when he pulls the whole “im not leaving until you agree to get back with me” because being the Gilmore Danes Baby comes with perks.

El likewise is sorta...put off by how insistent he is? He also isn’t sure it’s a good idea to date him since he knows it was Emily and Richard’s horrible behavior that sent her to call him. ( “and like I don’t Do dating/romance but dating someone because your parents abuse you seems....like...like....not a good plan?” not that he says this to his mother of course but he does say it to Brad. It should also be noted that out of all my Rory sibling ocs Elliot is one of the fastest to Actively call Emily and Richard abusive in re to their behavior to Lorelai. So he understands a bit of how that interplays with Lorelai’s behavior and dating Jason but all the same...he’s not thrilled. ) Elliot also actually liked Max and was pretty upset by how that all ended so he’s not open to his mom dating another guy that might or might not keep around. And again, Jason canonically doesn’t really make an effort to get to know Rory so El doesn’t know him from a hole on the ground and sorta mistrusts him tbh. Everything from the fact that he works for Richard to the whole “your mother hates me so you should date me” ( which El’s just...he kinda sees it as Jason using Emily and Lorelai’s history in his favor and he’s...not a fan.) just puts him on edge tbh and he’s sad for his mom when it doesn’t work out but also lowkey relieved.

Hope is super protective of Lorelai like to the nth degree ( understandably so tbh) and understands on a personal level how parental abuse can leave you wanting to date people who really aren’t worth your time and energy and the why of it all. That being said both in spite of that and because of that she’s so so not here for his insistence and has considered pulling Lorelai aside and being “I love you but from one Gilmore Girl to another, anyone who you date after one of mom’s flagellations should be considered the same as someone you chose to date while drunk.” ( but is also afraid that will push Lorelai away from her and she...Lorelai and Rory are the only family that haven’t hurt her so it’s messy yknow) She very much gives him a shovel talk and lowkey thinks his only redeeming quality is he wanted to tell Emily and Richard about them ( she understands more than anything not wanting to tell their parents...anything tbh because like Lorelai says “ When something good happens to me, I'm just afraid you're gonna make me feel bad about it nd when something bad happens to me, I’m always afraid you’ll say “I told you so.“ but she’s also “Lore...you can’t just keep hiding this from them it’ll come out and badly”) She’s overall pretty unimpressed by him and is very concerned by the fact that Lorelai chose to date him. She pretty much warms him upfront that if he’s trying to mess with Lorelai or take advantage of the fact that Emily messes with Lore’s head they’ll never f-ing find his body.

Sofia likewise is incredibly protective of Lorelai and like on instinct distrusts anyone that her parents ( Richard and Emily) like so she’s pretty much “nope don’t trust him” from the get go. She’s mostly just glad Emily has someone to be a b-tch to that isn’t her and/or Lorelai (”she’s giving him the tripple freeze, makes it a lot warmer where we’re sitting”) She thinks the fact that he thinks Richard and Emily won’t ruin his relationship with Lorelai is sorta naive?( like “of course they will. We’re seasoned Gilmore Daughters. We know this”) But also that pursuing it is sorta dumb. She’s pretty cold towards him when they start dating but is also incredibly incredibly disgusted by his parents tbh and jesus she just hates that entire family and the fact that her father will associate with them. About the only good thing that comes from that arch from her is she gets a bit of a softer view of her mother since she actually knows the separation happened because of Emily asking Richard not to sue Jason after Lorelai begged him not to.

But also she ( this very soft spoken and quiet little girl who in s1 would cry if someone glared at her) basically tells him to get out of her sister’s inn before she grabs a gardening shovel from the tool shed when he pulls the thing at the inn.

Kit is probably the one who has the least unfavorable opinion about him? Like he doesn’t really know him that well and because of how badly Richard treats him ( and Emily sometimes) he’s really not that bothered by his mom dating someone in the merits of “it’ll piss the Harford Gilmores off” like tbh he sorta gets it. He does get “lmao nope” when he pursues Lorelai at the inn and is actually the one to tell Luke Jason and Lore aren’t together and might be the one to make the call that his condo was on fire and considers getting a baseball bat tbh. But until then he’s pretty indifferent towards him.

But also he’s absolutely disgusted with how Richard treated him like “that was his partner?? And he sold him down the river?? For people that screwed him ( Richard) over?? He tanked this guys business to keep all the money with that other rich asshole??” ( keeping in mind Kit is the one with the worst relationship with Richard and the one who gets treated the worst by Richard. And also that growing up with mostly blue collared people rich assholes ( tm) screwing over a new business is really something about the Hartford Elite/upper circles that he really abhors.) So mostly he’s just focused on how horrible everyone involved in that lawsuit is and is like “anyways im so glad im not involved with y’all because I’m The Dumb Gilmore and didn’t need a college fund” and pretty much just rants/talks to Tristan about it like “anyways babe you won’t believe what The Jackwagon Allegiance did this time-”

So like tbh none of them like Jason much and they absolutely are “yeah but how bout no tho” when he gets uber pushy and their opinion absolutely plumets when the stuff goes down in Raincoats And Recipes.

But a lot of them ( Kit and Hope in particular) also incredibly disgusted with how Richard treated him and how the whole thing was handled ( Floyd calling PIs on his son? Asshole Move. Floyd suing Richard over petty shit? Asshole Move. Basically everything that followed? Asshole Moves.) and all of them are also pretty critical of how Richard told Lorelai she only cared about her boyfriend when she in fact broke up with Jason over him not droping the lawsuit ( Elliot who in Tristan’s words is “a bit of a paragon( affectionate)” might actually tell him about it and remind him that maybe he should say sorry in his very soft but not unsure Elliot way which might mean that Richard apologizes to Lorelai bc honestly i need it) so they also don’t give him much thought past “why did Lorelai date him again?” and don't pay him much mind until the events of the s4 finale.

Honorary mention: Lily St James who grew up with abusive parents ( and thereforeis never here for Any toxic bullshit from Anyone), sees Lorelai as a second mom, and has zero chill punches him in the face when he shows up at the inn and pretty much was “nah” from the start so...there’s that.

Honestly??? Probably Tyrus. Elide gets plenty emotional and isn't afraid to hide it, but she's more excited than anything to see them grow and spends a lot of time encouraging the different directions they want to take. Meanwhile we have Papa Tyrus who wants them to stay young forever and never leave because he can't Protect them if they're not at Home in his Arms. It’s valid of him though, really, given all that he and Elide have seen and been through. They’re both the type who will be Sobbing at the first wedding for their kids, how embarrassing for them. (And every wedding thereafter, if there are any. They’re soft.)

9.) who is the most protective of their children? what makes them both shift into overprotective mode?

They're both very protective, as fighters are wont to be, but Tyrus definitely takes the cake here. The kids bringing dates home immediately launches Tyrus into overprotective mode, and for Elide it's when she hears another kid is giving theirs a tough time. Both of them go into protective overdrive the moment a child is hurt, be it physically or emotionally.

13. what is their name(s)? is there any significance to it? any nicknames they go by? or cute pet names their parents give them?

Oh boy, here we go with their hoard of children. Now listen,,, only some of them have justifications for their names in canon, because they were all chosen by me based on the fact that they sound different in Elide's accent depending on if she's happy or angry while addressing them all.

Sansa didn't get her name from anything overly significant, Elide (AKA I) just thought it sounded pretty and Tyrus agreed. The pet name she has from both of them is “flower”, taken from what Elide’s own mama has called her since she was little.

Dorian was named after the main character of the story that was always Elide’s favorite while growing up, that she in turn read to her kids often (which always made Dorian smile and giggle excitedly about his name being spoken). His siblings like to call him Dori, especially when they're teasing him. Hears “darling boy” and “little gunslinger” the most, even when he’s grown.

Okay, so for Elaine, Elijah and Eloise, they’re all given names that start with ‘El’ as a nod to a Westenra tradition. And a bonus meaning comes with Elaine, who was named after Tyrus’s mother. (Elide suggested the name and they totally didn’t spend numerous minutes crying and holding each other over it, dunno what you’re implying.) Elaine's nickname is El, Elijah's is Eli, and Eloise's is Ellie. Elide and Tyrus like to call Elaine their "sentinel" because of how she'd watch over her siblings as they slept, and with her continued protective instincts as she grew older. Elide calls Elijah her "little tinkerer" because he fell in love with clockmaking after sitting with her and her own papa, Mikael, as they repaired the family clock. They called Eloise a "little fiend" while she was younger because of how absolutely Wild she was, always running around and bumping into things causing chaos. Changed into “acrobat” at some point because of her insane stunts.

Alexandra was a funny little case, because they’d had the name Alexander chosen for a baby boy but surprise!! She came along, so they did a small alteration there. Her middle name Vina has meaning tho. Vina was a Harker ancestor of Elide's, a pirate queen who helped found the Lansing archipelago! Her nickname is Alexa from pretty much everyone. Greer and Cormac like to call her Lexi on occasion. Elide and Tyrus called her their "bard" because of her fascination for tales and how she started reading along with them for bedtime stories, then eventually started telling her own to them. “Songbird” is another one!! Because she likes to hum or sing often.

Greer and Cormac have no significance, Tyrus just came up with the name Greer and Elide loved it. Cormac's nickname is Cormie. Aside from "papa's girl" and "mama's boy", they're sometimes referred to as the “koalas” because of how Greer clings to papa and Cormac to mama.

Julian might be named after a Westenra or Rhogar ancestor, maybe, idk the name is just cute and I liked it. He has two nicknames, Julie and Jules. Elide likes to call him her “little inquisitor” because of how he observes and then rattles off a whole list of questions, hungry for that Knowledge.

Okay, I know the reader technically doesn't cook, but I do cause I'm hispanic and I have to. So I wanted to write this, but now I'm just really hungry.

I didn't proofread this. I wrote it in like ten minutes, and it probably doesn't leave you more than just craving an arepa, and no I ain't cooking for tumblr.

Set during Pre-Dating Idiots

Your culture had definitely influenced the way you cooked. Good for the ones who liked to eat gourmet, but you're different.

You didn't think you were the best cook, you still burned stuff from time to time. But you had concentrated, and set your mind to make Loki the best breakfast in the whole world.

You woke up early to have the guiso and the dough ready. You warmed up the pan with enough oil to leave the little disk crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. A nice layer of golden over the dough disk. In another pan you had chopped onions, sweet peppers and fresh garlic and made your guiso, when it was nicely browned, you added the chicken and mixed it together. Then dumped all the spices, you were going to need more oregano and bay later.

While making sure the chicken was nicely golden, you also watched that the disks were golden, nearing a brow and then set them aside.

When the chicken filling was ready, you opened the dough disks with a butter knife, buttered them up and skillfully, barely warming the tips of your fingers, filled them to the brim with the chicken.

Oh, you were drooling, you really wanted to try it all together and hear that perfect crunch. But you controlled yourself and continued.

You wrapped them up in paper foil and placed them fantastic looking arepas in a glass Tupperware.

Your stomach was hungry and roaring at you, but it could wait, you knew Loki was now used to eating breakfast with you, so you wanted to see the look on his face. Maybe you wouldn't warn him that the chicken would probably drip on his clothes. But you still were considering it.

Arriving to your office to see him tucked under your desk was now a common occurence. But today he wasn't sleeping through your morning shift, because you had to see his face when he tasted it.

It's not like you needed his approval. No. Why would you?

But you still wanted to see if he liked it.

You sat at your desk and placed the container neatly next to your computer.

Softly, you nudged him with your feet.

He groaned before looking at you through his lashes.

"Wake up sleeping beauty, I made you breakfast." You smiled proudly.

This surprised Loki, he hated burgers and the McDonalds you made him eat every other day. He much preferred the salads or Chinese food you brought from time to time, but he still was quite picky about the food.

"So no chicken biscuit today?" He smirked. "Should I expect this to become a regular thing?"

"Don't even think about it, I left cooking for people behind after I moved out. I ain't about to start doing it again, even less for you, sunshine." You smirked back at him.

"Either way I'm flattered, yet also I wonder if I should be worried."

"Oh you big baby. Choose one for you and one for me, I'll take the first bite if it makes you happy." You signaled to the container with a red lid.

Loki looked at you suspiciously. He opened the lid, and you swear you saw it.

That little glimmer that broke through his facade when the aroma of the meal expanded through the room.

He rasped his throat and handed you one of the foil covered arepas. He followed you example when you unwrapped half of it, so the foil could serve as protection to your fingers and would prevent the buttered thing to drip onto your clean clothes.

You bit down with a smile, this reminded you of home, it had been so long since you had cooked this dish. But you remembered it like it was yesterday when your mom would stand behind you and teach you patiently how to do it.

"Your turn gallina." You smiled still munching and swallowing your bite.

He looked at it suspiciously. "Can't you at least give me a fork or something."

"No you savage. You eat it with your hands, any other way is illegal, just like putting the fillings on top of it." You dead-panned him and started muttering to yourself. "Idiotas, abres la arepita como un sobre y le metes el relleno, no es tan difícil por el amor de Dios."

He still looked uncomfortable, but after you took a second bite he bit into it. And you have never seen an expression like his. His eyes were closed first, he processed the foot in his mouth and swallowed. Then slowly opened his eyes, and saying that they were shining was an understatement.

"I am never eating that McDonald's trash again."

"Well, better get cooking then. 'Cause I ain't doing it for ya." You shrugged before biting into your arepa again.

"Teach me." He demanded.

You raised an eyebrow at him. "Yeah... Nah." You swallowed. "This is family recipe, I haven't found anyone from anywhere else who has been able to do it properly. So, nah."

He caged you where you sat. "Well then, let me suprise you." The challenge in his voice was persuading you.

And honestly, you wanted to see him struggling to get his dough disk without any cracks.

"Challenge accepted."

We Bare Bears - Season 4 Overview (Second Half)

Soooo, Cartoon Network has aired at least 5 new WBB episodes free online to promote the new week of episodes that are coming these week. I already said in my first overview of the season that the first batch of episodes were not bad, minus a few really good ones. I’m not saying that it’s not going over a Seasonal Rot, heck no! It’s just that the episodes I watched weren’t that great. There were more Baby Bear episodes this time, and there was a lack of Chloe so far, minus Money Man, which kinda sucked.

But hey, since we got some episodes again, I think it’s fair to go over these five anyway. Once this season is complete, I’ll have to give it a proper ranking once I rate all of the episodes in order, along with a top 5 best and worst as well. I am aware that Charlie’s Halloween Thing 2 came out from October, but I have to give that one along with the first part a proper review. I am unsure about these episodes but who knows, maybe it won’t have the typical lame formula from most Charlie episodes! But I digress...

Sarcasm aside, let’s get this over with!

Episode 20-24 Rankings (in complete order):

Episode 20 - Escandalosos Okay, I think I‘m starting to understand why we keep getting more Baby Bears episodes. That ending makes me hope that they’ll see Rudolpho again in the future, along with Karla and a few other characters they encountered. Fingers crossed!

I actually like the plot, how far the Bears will go for their new friend. And holy crap, I just looove the Mexican aesthetics in this episode! The crew must had a lot of fun putting all of this together. Also, we got a reference from Mucha Lucha, and El Tigre’s name can be seen from the scoreboard!

Not a bad episode!

Final Rating: 7.5/10

Episode 21 - Pizza Band Honestly, out of all of the weird stories they’ve done, this is by far the oddest of them all. I first thought that it was going to go all Milli Vanilli with the whole lip sync thing, but they decided to kick it up a notch with something I find to be pretty funny.

And--THE GUY WHO IS A PART OF SMASH MOUTH DID THE SONGS FOR THIS EPISODE!? That’s awesome! This episode is also filled with some funny moments here and there. Ice Bear’s robot head is both awesome and hilarious at the same time. And I do dig the amount of pizza restaurant refs we got.

Oh yeah, and this reminds me how awful Chuck E Cheeses really is now. I honestly prefer Dave and Busters, thank you very much.

Final Rating: 8/10

Episode 22 - Adopted So it’s an episode where the Bears get adopted by millionaire Nature Cat, only to discover that they’re being living chew toys to King Kong. ...Yeah sounds about right!

Not a bad episode, it’s rather cute and I like the big King Kong ref at the end. I almost thought William was going to be a huge asshole, but thankfully I was wrong tho

Final Rating: 7/10

Aaaaand were down to the last two episodes in the batch that I’m kinda intrigued by from the episode plots alone! Let’s see how they hold up! Episode 23 - Wingmen This episode is super neat! I love how Panda is going this far as to help this bird find his mate. Not only to get the bears some sleep but to also give him his own happy ending. It also gives us some small parts as to how Panda himself is still searching for a girlfriend. This sounds obvious, but I’m pretty sure that somehow Lucy will go back to him. I’m sure of it, but I’m sure they’ll do something else that I’ll be intrigued in.

Also, never in my life have I ever been to a prom, but for what they do with the whole nature forest prom was adorable. I almost expected Charlie to just come in here out of/ nowhere. I dunno why, I just thought of it lol.

Final Rating: 8/10

Episode 24 - Braces What I watched: Braces

What I expected: Braceface, I suppose.

What I got: EDGELORD MAGNETO

This is rather a tough episode to criticize. I might as well talk about the main issue here.

The problem with this one is that the pacing that leads to Panda’s transformation is not developed well. There should be enough reasons as to why Panda became this way. Sure we got a few bystanders making fun of him, but it’s still not enough. And plus, Panda claimed that his bros insulted him. Oh yeah, they did smirked from the beginning, but that was all it. They just kinda explore how he could go well with his new powers. I know that you need to try and fit the eleventh minute mark, but I think there should be a bit more time to fill in the gaps.

But on the plus side though, Pandaro might just be one of the most interesting one-time villains in the show. While again, I do wish they went further with his progress into becoming evil, he was still really great and rather chilling. The first time we see him controlling all of those phones was really cool. Kudos to Bobby for handling his voice, so unsettling, I like it. Sucks that we didn’t see the cellphone meteor into full effect, or at least have him go towards the city and go all Chronicle from there. And plus, I do wish we see how well he can expand his powers. But for what we got, that’s fine by me. Ice Bear’s line really broke me. It’s a fun episode overall!

Also, Pandaro for Smash? Please? Or at least in future CN games, I won’t mind!

Final Rating: 9/10

Final Thoughts:

So this was a pretty neat batch! Not so bad unlike last time. I think Braces might be my favorite out of all of them, just because of Pandaro.

Again, I won’t give out my final ranking since I need the entire season to be completed!

But for now, not bad at all.

I’m not sure when we’ll get another Icy Nights episodes, but the next batch of episodes do sound more promisi--huh? Hey, what’s this?

Cave Chaos, huh. Okay, so what is this one about?

When The Bears find out that both Chloe and Charlie are coming over at the same time, they do whatever they can to not let them see each other.

Speaking of El, nobody calls him El on earth, so probably even if azazel’s here, he would still not know that El is mugaro’s real name.

I was kinda hoping mugaro and nina are still in each other’s clothes by the time they meet azazel just to see his reaction to it and confirm what his reaction in ep7 actually was, but alas, since azazel’s not even shown at all, might as well have them back in their own clothes.

Kaisar formally introducing himself to mugaro is weird bcs well, haven’t they met before? Countless times? Maybe not at night while azazel’s doing his rag demon routine, but during azazel’s job at the stadium? And during ep8?

But then maybe mugaro being jeanne’s kid makes a difference?

This part makes me a bit confused bcs all this time, I thought Kaisar’s actually aware of azazel being in Anatea (from the start maybe, bcs rita, so at least two years?), he just doesn’t realize until ep1 that the rag demon is azazel. And if he’s known azazel in the city for two years at least, he should’ve noticed mugaro’s existence, since mugaro hardly ever leaves azazel’s side, be it night or day.

Also, how long azazel’s been in anatea anyway? It should be more than two years, but none mentions it so far right? Even grandpa demon chief from ep15 just says azazel going away alone without any time modifier.

And yes, hamsa in that vest is cute <3

…now on to the hard part:

2. THE SALT IS REAL FOR AZAZEL

First of all, let me make it clear: I don’t care who ends up with who in the show; that’s what fics and fanworks are for.

and I know I keep repeating this, but from the start, I actually already expected nina and chari to end up together, so them ending up together, now, does not surprise me.

What surprised me is the way they (the writers) go to achieve it: which is by consistently undermining a “love rival” or another character (azazel) in order to make chari (the true love interest) looks good in comparison.

And this is… just so very painful for me as azazel’s fan.

I already wrote a bit about how azanina scenes in those early eps were actually foreshadowing for charinina plot, and it happens again in this ep.

Just compare the difference in the way the anime shows azanina and charinina interaction; same street, same place, but chari is a charming playful gentleman who ends up taking nina in a ‘romantic’ gateaway while azazel is a pushy jerkass who ends up on his ass in a comical position courtesy of rita’s punch.

Also pls compare these lines:

Those two lines technically commenting the same thing: meeting and reacting to each other.

And while Azazel’s line is more matter of fact and had a sense of inevitability to it, like “what happened happened and let’s just accept it and move on to do something about it”,

Chari’s line is unnecessarily more dramatic, and also more romantic, bcs wow how he makes nina sound so special and like she’s the only one, like he’s blaming fate or whatever, while at the same time confirming why yes fate is the one who makes us meet; if only fate isn’t so cruel blah blah blah

Sorry if I sound so skeptic bcs honestly I’m just… skeptic.

Like, wtf dude who are you? Who is this emo ooc parading around in charioce’s shoes? I don’t know him.

He has never showed sign of being emo even once during the whole 16 eps and then suddenly this??? yeah right.

But back to that line, I won’t blame nina if she falls for chari’s words hook, line and sinker bcs she always seems to be drunk in love in her own separate world and at first glance chari’s words is totally romantic – if you like your man dramatic.

So… to sum it up, from nina’s perspective (and what the show wants you to see it as) Azazel: matter of fact pushy jerkass with no romantic bone whatsoever to his body Charioce: romantic charming guy with romantic confession and is kind to kids.

AZAZEL DESERVES BETTER THAN TO BE A FODDER FOR CHARININA PLOTLINE

There I said it.

Just, you know, it seems everything azanina did is eventually going to be done also by charinina, except in a way that’s much cooler and romantic; and this is not bcs of chari or azazel’s characterization itself, but bcs the *show* needs and intends for chari to look better compared to azazel.

It’s in *the way* they show it, and not the act itself that actually really matters.

Personally, I hate how, bcs of Nina’s romantic and obvious shoujo manga view of her world, in the show Azazel’s treated like a persistent former boyfriend once ep6 rolls around and chari appears for real; like he’s suddenly being broken up by nina even tho 1) they’re not lovers in the first place, 2) he never shows romantic interest in her.

And honestly, I could understand azanina shippers’s frustration with the show’s current progress, bcs up to ep4, they have the most interaction and nina’s reactions to him is so very… leading, to say the least. Add to it the show’s marketing and main visual w/ nina surrounded by four guys, it seems at least azazel and chari had the same chance with her. (fava already has Amira and kai has rita, so they’re just not available to nina)

But then by ep5, it seems the whole 4eps doesn’t happen and azazel’s just mugaro’s boyfriend/brother/guardian aka *just* nina’s acquaintance, nothing more.

Add again to it the fact that nina doesn’t even seem to remember azazel exists ever since ep10 until now ep17. Not once does she ever wonder about how he’s doing, despite how she feels guilty over him in ep8.

Even taking the shipping issue aside, it’s just not good overall for nina’s characterization to forget about him and her guilt so easily, bcs that means once the ‘problem’ is no longer in front of her, she instantly forgets about it. That makes her so… flighty, easily distracted, and just…unreliable, to say the least. And seems unsympathetic toward others.

I’m not saying what happened to azazel is her fault; it’s completely his and his fault only.

I’m saying it’s important to follow up on her guilt and explore it a little perhaps, and not just act like it never happens, bcs she *did* say she feels sorry for what happened in ep8.

I *did* like azanina’s interaction more than charinina’s even though I didn’t ship them romantically.

But now (or more precisely, ever since that hot spring scene w/ nina and Jeanne) I just want nina to stay faaaaaaar away from Azazel.

esp since even if he meets her again, he's only going to be used for yet another charinina fodder and example how he's such a jerkass loser while chari is a charming romanticist anyway

GIVE HIM A BREAK, SHOW, GDI

I understand her head is full of charioce or something but the fact she COMPLETELY forgets about azazel despite their past interaction and what happened between them and how they saved each other at least once is just… haha… ha…

You know, if this pattern continues, nina’s actually going to forget about charioce too the moment another hot looking guy pays attention to her for a bit probably haha

So yeah.

I read someone says azazel has his own story and Nina has her own story, and that they just doesn’t care about nina’s. I AGREE COMPLETELY.

Indeed azazel and nina (and chari too tbh) have their own story, but while azazel & charioce’s story happens in the same line, Nina’s story while seems to happen in the same world, just doesn’t connect to their story at all (so far anyway, yes, even tho it’s 17th ep already).

3. CHARIOCE THE FRAGILE BABY BIRD (according to nina)

First of all, boo hoo, wtf why is she still getting red-faced by kaisar? I thought she already has her true love in charioce and no other man would do, but then kaisar appears and she’s suddenly back to her old self?

(esp when azazel no longer does it for her???)

Hamsa’s line makes it clear tho: that red-faced scene is done purely for comedy and not for any consistency or plot-relevant thing. If you’re trying to be consistent, show, then try to show her character development instead, her who is no longer easily blushing anymore. I thought this is already an established plot point, but apparently not, and it irks me greatly.

And that’s actually the biggest flaw in the show: the show is mainly story-driven and not character-driven, and for the sake of advancing plot, it sacrifices many things, including any consistency in Nina’s characterization.

I won’t be commenting much on the discomfort watching Chari & Nina playing with the demon kids bcs other ppl already covered that better than me.

But I’d like to point out the discomfort of watching Nina treating Charioce like some kind of fragile baby bird.

I’m just. WHUT.

In this ep, even tho he IS the king who enslaves and kills and destroys these demons, she’s more worried about HIS well-being than the demons who have no way of fighting back if he ever tries to attack them.

GURL PLS.

She worries about HIS clothes even though the demons kids’ clothes are far from being fit.

She screams when she sees the ball is a skull but shows no reaction at all to how HE naturally plays ball with said skull like nothing amiss, like he’s used to seeing skulls.

She trusts HIM instantly even though technically she is a fugitive and he’s the king who is hunting her and her escapee friends.

She worries more about HIM being in the slum than about the danger to HER FRIENDS by bringing their hunter to their own backyard.

All she thinks about is HER, HERself, HER feelings, HER thoughts, and HIM and I just.

GURL HOW SELF-CENTERED ARE YOU.

She really doesn’t think of things outside her immediate perspective or beyond herself. She does not even *try*.

She’s kind but she lacks empathy, which is why she needs direction and to be told to care before she could actually care.

I’ve said before how, bcs charioce never directly hurts her, she can’t think of him as a bad person.

the "an asshole to everybody else but a sweetheart to his girl" trope is such a popular trope in all kind of media that I'm surprised nina doesn't realize it's not weird or extraordinary at all.

I don’t understand why she can’t understand this: that both are part of him, both are *real*

On the other hand, she could accept and understand that Azazel’s kind to Mugaro but a jerkass to her. Both are facets of azazel, and she has no trouble parsing that.

But then when it comes to charioce, she suddenly loses all senses? Pfft.

Also, why does it matter which one is real? Chari still did both things; even if, say, the kind him is the real him, it doesn’t erase the fact he destroys Cocytus and enslaves demons and kills both demons and angels.

Like wtf gurl.

Also, the *wording* actually *matters*, and the way she says “making the demons and gods hate you” it’s like Chari is only pranking them or something harmless like that for the purpose of making them hate him, which is not true at all.

HE TORTURED AND MASS MURDERED THEM. WOMEN AND CHILDREN ALIKE.

No, Nina, it’s not hate what they feel for Chari; hate is too light a word to describe it. They try to murder him now bcs they’re trying to survive, since if he’s not dead he’s going to kill them all eventually.

Also, way to make this all about you, gurl.

Gods and demons being slaughtered left and right but all you care about is his attitude toward you, bcs it’s the only thing that matters to you the most apparently.

Bcs his countless victims, including Jeanne, mugaro, kaisar, azazel, the gods she called cute, totally do not matter at all to her.

Empathy what empathy.

Fuck.

I’ve written about it here, but her conversation with Jeanne in ep14 still gives me chills bcs wow, she perfectly knows chari is the one who hurts Jeanne and is the cause of Jeanne hurting her own child, yet she still dares, with no shred of guilt at all while claiming herself Jeanne’s friend, saying to Jeanne’s face that she *loves* charioce.

No consideration at all of how Jeanne’s actually one of Chari’s victims, no nothing.

The fact Nina doesn’t mention Charioce is the guy she likes is totally cheating and unfair to Jeanne, bcs now Jeanne has unknowingly approved of Charioce.

Cheating…or more like betrayal toward Jeanne, I think.

I wish Nina had done it purposefully tho, omitting Chari’s name in that scene I mean, bcs at least it means she’s aware jeanne’s chari’s victim and only trying to spare her feelings by not mentioning the name, while still keeping the conversation going.

But the fact she hadn’t is just. stupid and mostly empathy what empathy indeed.

Also to anon from way back, I take back what I said about how nina’s ignorance is not meant as shallow; full offense, I really mean this: nina’s not only ignorant, but also shallow, only thinks of herself, and has no empathy whatsoever for others unless told to.

The fact Chari never hurts her is important, bcs to her, since she never experiences his cruelty herself, countless tales of his victims is just an unreal myth to her.

Meanwhile for Charioce himself, dude, how the fuck did you go from Charioce 13th to Charioce 17th so fast in less than 5 years, like did you kill 14th-16th or what?

They sure do love abandoning subplots left and right, don’t they haha

I thought he’s interesting at the beginning but he barely has any character development and frankly I’m bored and lost interest in him and his secretiveness just makes him irritating.

I’m not a patient person; sue me for losing interest.

Also, someone commented how Charinina’s lake scene makes them seem like Romeo and Juliet, like, if only they’re not who they are, then they must be able to be happy together.

WTF ROMEO JULIET WHERE

They both are humans, none’s stopping them from being together, he and his race are not at war with her or her race; he doesn’t even know dragonfolk exists.

Azazel thinks her a demon but then again he’s wrong about a lot of things, including mugaro’s origin.

No, dragons are not demons, and nina’s also half dragonfolk half human, so she’s mostly human.

The closest Romeo/Juliet relationship in the show is probably Chari/Mugaro or Chari/Azazel or even Mugaro/Azazel.

There’s no pre-existing condition between Nina/Chari, all the drama are recent and of their own making and not something that already exists as foundation of conflict.

4. TL;DR

I do think while Azazel deserves a lot of suffering, being comic relief and charinina’s fodder is not one of them.

Also Charioce still doesn’t have embarrassing pose and never experienced being the butt of a joke like the rest of the main casts wtf let the poor guy have his own embarrassing meme show

As protags, Nina and Charioce feel so flat to me. Nothing much happens to them personally, no mountain of problems to overcome, no nothing. Well nina has her transformation problem, but that seems so insignificant considering it only involves her and her alone.

Charioce doesn’t have problems to solve bcs he actually creates problems for other characters and somehow sit all the while being cool and charismatic doing nothing. Pfft.

I think, conflict and character development wise, Kaisar and Azazel deserve to be protags more. Kaisar has the Hero’s Righteousness ™ down to the smallest detail, while Azazel has the classic Hero Journey (starting from losing everything to trying to regain everything back).

Meanwhile, Charioce starts as a villain and continues on to be villain, while Nina just lets the waves take her.

Again, this is entirely my personal opinion.
