henry telling joel the story of how he informed fedra about the leader of the resistance so he could get the medicine he needed to save sam, and seeing joel's entire face and demeanour change as he starts to understand who henry is and how similar they both are. joel initially not trusting henry because he's a rat, but once the full context is given to him, he tells henry it's not fair on him for so many people to want him dead for what he did. joel not questioning why henry would betray so many people for his brother, because he knows he would do exactly the same thing in his place. henry DIRECTLY making joel ask himself the question "what is more important: the world, or the one person you love? your honour, or your family? when it comes down to it, how many people will you hurt to make sure she's safe?", and you can just see that joel immediately knows the answer.

#if bill was there to make joel realise his purpose as a protector #henry is there to make joel painfully aware of the lengths he must go to to fulfil that duty #and only AFTER this conversation may i add does joel start trusting henry unquestioningly #because he knows who henry is now. he knows theyre exactly the same #and no matter what he can rely on him to keep these kids safe. theyll both do whatever it takes #god help ANY motherfuckers who stand in our way #< the way THAT has become one of the thesis statements of the show btw. thank you bill #anyways i think this episode was a bit anticlimactic in terms of dramatic stakes #but the narrative throughline. joels character development. ellies friendship with sam #it all balances out #if nothing else this show is fucking NAILING the character beats #tlou #the last of us #tlou spoilers #meta tag

#fave spotting #patrick troughton #the adventures of the scarlet pimpernel #doctor who #classic doctor who #two #itp #itc #1955 #I've had a nice rhythm going lately with pairing a 50 min series (usually The Saint these days‚ tho not for much longer...) with a shorter #25 min one to dip into when I've less time or whatever. with The Adventurer over (adieu and farewell Gene Bradley you insane #multi talented everything) i thought I'd change it up a little and go for a much earlier itc series for a different tone. so early in fact #that they weren't even ITC yet; the company was then known as the Incorporated Television Programme Company‚ ITP for short‚ but be not #fooled; this is in every way the Lew Grade led company that would come to dominate the commercial tv world in the decades to follow #The Adventures of Robin Hood is usually identified as the first ITC production but in fact it beat this series to the screen by only #3 days and the two shows were presumably in production simultaneously. Hood went on to be the making of ITC and Lew Grade and lasted #a whopping 143 episodes over 4 years; Pimpernel made it to only 18 despite being planned as a 39 part series (standard length for these #early itc shows). exactly what went wrong i dont know; Goring was heavily involved in production as well as starring and maybe that played #a part‚ or maybe the popular success of Hood meant this show was no longer affordable. idk im just speculating but from #what I've seen it's fairly fun. starting on ITV just a week after the network commenced transmission‚ it's safe to say this didn't capture #the public imagination like Hood did and it does seem to have been rather forgotten about. Pat is actually a series regular and these #pics come from a few different eps among the first few. he isn't in the very first (nor is the Pimpernel's other faithful companion #played by Anthony Newlands) and i do wonder if that was a pilot (it has Robert Shaw as the Pimpernel's right hand and to my #knowledge he doesn't reappear; he'd make up for it with a starring role in one of ITC's next series‚ The Buccaneers #but yes he's here and he's fantastic and gets to be dashing and heroic (tho never moreso than Goring of course). he's also the one of the #three heroes who best suits the powdered hair look (Newlands looks quite unfortunate). and of course i know what im doing with that #last shirtless pic.. you're welcome Pat girlies (gender neutral)#maybe I'll make another post after I've seen a few more eps but i wasn't going to commit to a Pat post for every episode im afraid

My review of Miraculous Ladybug S5 so far is that it has a lot of scenes that I like in theory, but in action just end up being very silly and way over dramatic

#that being said. i love them all the same #genuinely obsessed with this show #but man it handles everything in such an odd way #they always spend so much time talking about nothing for the first 75% of the episode #and then the last 25% hikes up the drama to 100 and its always so abrupt #'illusion' is an excellent example of this lol #that episode had such a strange and sudden tone shift #its bizarre that the episodes are 22 minutes long but still barely manage to say anything #this is all technically criticism but make no mistake. i wouldnt have it any other way #this is truly the peak of miraculous ladybug. this is what it should ALWAYS be #so far i dont think theres been an episode where ive been particularly BORED. theyve all got a little spice to them #which i appreciate #well. i kinda didnt like the first 2 episodes. those were just a lot of running around #but everything after that has been exactly what i wanted #tldr: the pacing is weird and i wouldnt change a thing #my notes document on this show is up to 8 pages. ive never had as many opinions on a show as I do this one #im a certified miraculous stan

Finally finished sweet tooth s3. Having incredibly mixed feelings

#love the show. love it a lot. about to be a bitch in the tags anyways #it was. so so messy. they needed another season so bad. the alaska trip took up so much of the comics #and that was with the previously established cast #in the show they introduced a million new characters. gave us no time to get to know them before they were thrown head first into the plot #and condensed an arc that was almost half of the comics into the span of like 5 episodes #my boy singh. oh how they massacred by boy #i mean. okay. in the context of the show the arc wasn't horrible for him.#but i think his survival in the comic and his dedication of his life to making up for the mistakes of his past by helping people and hybrids #would've been so much more powerful than his random self sacrifice at the end of the show.#bc honestly it just seems like another impulsive act in his moral flip flop he'd been having for the last few episodes #rather than active choice to be better #and honestly i wanted to see his delusional paranoid religious breakdown from the comics put to screen so bad #it would've been great #i do like that he turned against zhang the second she started trying to talk about rani. that shit slapped #the several fake outs about Jepp's death were so stupid and unnecessary and repetitive #why are you baiting everyone. you're going to piss off the hardcore comic fans waiting for his death and confuse the show fans #either commit to killing him or stop pretending like you're brave enough to do it #why did they flip back so hard into the mystical vaguely eco fascist backstory and outcome of the comic #after spending two seasons trying to build a more scientific and less 'humanity must end' story for two seasons straight #they tried to make it seem less 'humanity must die' again at the end by ending the virus #which i guess might've been the best outcome available considering the source material and the limitations of it's ending #but idk. it felt weird #the writing this season was so much less subtle. it felt like the characters were constantly monologing directly at the camera #nothing could be left unsaid everyone had to say exactly what they meant #and it was all moral lessons the writers were trying to feed directly to the audience #i feel like they wrote themselves into a corner at the end of the last season #and they expected to have at least one more season to write themselves out of it before the ending #and if not. if this was the plan since the beginning. literally what. WHAT.#can not imagine the people who wrote the last two seasons sitting down and writing this #it won't let me add more tags but i have more thoughts. many more. tumblr is silencing me for speaking the truth /j

Something so funny to me about growing up watching Martyn Inthelittlewood, from his Christmas ADVENTure series's to his skyward sword play through, up until he got into Fortnite and seemed to leave Minecraft behind, around which point a lot of other YouTubers also quit and my WATCHING of Minecraft slowed down a LOT

Only to get into new fandoms as mcyt revived, including hermitcraft and, ohhey the life series! With - MARTYN INTHELITTLEWOOD???

It's so wild and really funny to me. He is back and playing murder games with hermits and others. He made a big chunk of my childhood and he's back to snipe my adulthood too and honestly I am here for it

I think we should talk more about how CGI Brittany has the career 80's Brittany always wanted.

#80's brittany wanted so badly to be popular singer!! a star!! but Alvin was the one with the most fans and you can see it even more in TCA #while in the CGI's movies the storyline ends with Brittany and her sister becoming way more popular than them #they even leave the house because their career were going that good #side note i wish people bring this more often bc it's so tiring to see ppl say they're all siblings in the CGI universe #Alvin clearly said that they were taking them to their house bc they still needed a place to stay #and at the end of the last movie Dave only adopts the guys! Neither him or the chipettes wanted to stay as family #but don't get me wrong he still loves them and they love him just not in the way or viewing as a father #BUT ANYWAYS GOING BACK TO THE POINT #we should talk a lot more about this #it's a shame that the 2015 series N E V E R tells you how exactly popular the chipmunks are or if the chipettes are famous as well #they give you one or two random flashbacks of them singing together but at the same time there are episodes were it's just the three of them #idk it's smth that bothers me a lot bc smth that the rest of the versions did was being clear about how they handled their lives as singers #the cgi movies gave you a whole development of the Chipmunks going from being on the forest to become starts #and then they decided go give a break to spend their lives better with Dave while the Chipetted handled their own lifes #and hell the 80's chipmunks went as far as showing you each future of each chipmunk #they even tell you that both Si and Theo chased other dreams that have nothing to do with music and i give extra points for that!#why am i speaking so god damn much about this??? my god the aatc passion is real
