After a rough mission Soap's out on one of the metal balconies on base. He's sitting with his legs between the bars, hanging off the edge. He's laying down, unlit cigarette between his lips.

Ghost comes out and sits next to him, doesn't say anything, takes out his own cigarette but doesn't light it, just holds it beteen his fingers.

Soap hears him adjust himself. There's sort of a mutual agreement. They don't need a smoke exactly, sure they have one but only out of habit. There's a mutual understanding that neither of them want to or have the capacity to talk. They just need... silence? Companionship? Whatever it is that's between them right now as they sit on this balcony, in the chilly night air, with unlit cigarettes, and a steady presence beside them.

The books of this shelf he was working on - almost all of them - were spread haphazardly on the floor around him, in various, well-organised stacks.
