Long time no post, but here's a post of a fanfic originally finished near new years... technically earlier, and then didn't like something and changed it which took. About a month and a half to get around too... and then promptly continued to dilly-dally in taking photos and posting it (I've also got another book I've bound that I finished in the early summer that I, uh... Still have procrastinated in posting. I do intend to do a yearly recap as well for my bindery fingers crossed as soon as I get the other one posted).

I personally fell in love with this Ginroki x Hijikata fic as I adored the writing style of the author since it is so incredibly beautifully and poetically written. I actually had a conversation with the author about the bookbind, which is why it was higher on the priority list (and since it was easily themed and shorter) but since I had first contacted them the fic had been instead switched to anonymous. As a result, I had to change some typesetting to represent the change, but nevertheless, thank you to the author for letting the fic stay up and a gentle reminder that choosing to orphan, rather than delete fics you don't want associated with you anymore is always an option!

I try to avoid actually reading fics as I'm binding them, because that leads very quickly to the path of just reading the fics and forgetting that I'm supposed to be typesetting or something.

I make an exception for this bit of @sullustangin The Planter of Trees though.

I will read Romjomos being pranked every single time I have even the smallest excuse to. And I will laugh every single time too. "No unsubscribe? Fascists," amuses and delights me to a ridiculous level.

But, then again, basically everything about Rommie amuses me. Like, yeah, I'd probably be annoyed by him if he was a real person, but as a character? He is an absolute delight. Though really, that can be said of all the characters (especially the ocs) in the story. I love them all so much.

Things my next bookbinding project has taught me: regular-ass office paper has dye lots apparently?? Ran out of paper during printing, opened a new pack, and now I have three signatures that are a totally different shade of white.

i also went to an upcycled notebook workshop yesterday and made one little booklet notebook and one stab-bound booklet made from old risograph posters from the studio running the workshop

(the stab binding is unfinished because the needle broke on the last step, but it's sturdy enough for the moment)

Branderson's leatherbounds are testing me. I swear to god, I've been eyeing the mistborn leatherbound for years but I just can't justify it to myself - the postage makes it insane. I have a hard copy of all the mistborn books already.

But I don't have a hard copy of warbreaker. Just the ebook. And that leatherbound is beautiful :'( .

BUT I also want the bookends.... I'm holding out hope that they'll eventually become available on their own. Might be a slim hope, although Branderson did say there's some merch announcements in November.

Anyway the point of this post is just to complain about the pretty things that I Want but definitely don't Need.
