Green Lantern SMP: Day 2
Day 1
As the sun rises over the island- which has been dubbed New Oa (much like the real one, this probably won't be the only time it gets trashed)- the Green Lanterns minus Jo take stock of their situation. They have two apples, five uncooked potatoes, and about a dozen wheat seeds, as well as some rotten flesh and bones. The island has been thoroughly deforested, but they do have several oak saplings. Most of their building blocks are gone, having been used in the construction of Hal's Watchtower that has since been reduced to a few sad floating blocks.
John decides that this embarrassment is unbefitting of the Green Lanterns of Earth and takes charge. Keli and Jessica have already begun replanting the devastated farm and using the bonemeal to grow crops, so he leaves them to this task and orders Kyle to light up the island and turn the cobblestone shelter into an actual house. There are plenty of cod swimming in the sea, so Hal and Simon are sent fishing. Guy does not seem to mind dying repeatedly, so he is assigned to explore the caves and find any ores.
Whilst everyone else is thus occupied, John switches to a web browser and begins looking up tutorials on how to build a mob spawner farm (Keli mentioned it was possible but didn't know how to make it herself).
The skeleton spawner is deactivated, but there are still plenty of hostile monsters in the caves when Guy ventures in. He dies no less than seventeen times before he finally finds a vein of iron ore. He is killed another five times before he emerges triumphant with half a dozen lumps of raw iron. Keli smelts these into ingots and crafts him a sword and shield. The deaths become far less frequent after this, and Guy returns with some more iron and a lot of copper. He is annoyed to learn that the latter cannot be used for tools or armor.
Hal and Simon don't actually have fishing rods, so they instead whack the fish with stone weapons. Hal frequently forgets that he needs to breathe and drowns several times. A Drowned starts chucking tridents at them, so the two of them flee "zombie Aquaman" and return to shore with a stack of cod.
By this point, Kyle has finished building a cozy farmhouse, as well as a fence around Jessica's garden. He thinks it's rather plain because he only had cobblestone and oak wood to build with, but everyone else thinks it's magnificent. Especially compared to Hal's "base" from yesterday.
John returns as night falls and begins directing Simon and Kyle to help him turn the skeleton spawner into a proper farm. Jessica opts to stay topside and cook the fish, while the rest of the Lanterns continue exploring the cave network below New Oa. It's an unusually large and complex web, and Hal dies almost as many times as Guy did earlier. He does however, discover a mineshaft...
#jess is enjoying her cottagecore experience while the rest of them fight for their lives in the mines#hal isn't very good at video games lol he's only still playing bc they told him about elytra#guy is just happy to punch shit#jo hasn't said anything in chat but there's also no death message so ig she's fine?#hal jordan#guy gardner#john stewart#kyle rayner#simon baz#jessica cruz#keli quintela#jo mullein#green lantern#lanternfam#green lantern smp#dc comics#incorrect green lantern quotes#minecraft

whispers of the nile | chapter 02
Synopsis: After leaving the FBI, Tiffany finds herself living her childhood dreams of pursuing archeology and studying the realm of ancient artifacts. Visiting Egypt for a much-needed break, OA bumps into Tiffany and reconnects after over a year since her departure. In the meantime, they both get wrapped up into a murder mystery and their feelings with each other.
Warning(s): discussion of death, violence; depiction of murder and mutilation, language
WC: ~2.2k
A/N: Back with a second part of WOTN! The case of the murdered professor is now underway and Zillace is sticking around to help! Hope you all enjoy! <3
Their ride to the dig site, where her professor’s body lies, was laced with a not uncomfortable silence. The energy in Tiff’s rental SUV is stilted. Sticky and warm, much like the weather permeating on the outside. Clarke sits in the back, on the phone with one of their classmates, updating them on their professor’s death.
“I don’t know,” Clark moans over the phone. “The TA is the one that called to tell me. And then I told Tiff because I figured she’d know what to do. I gave the phone to her and the officer asked for us to come straight to the scene so they could get more information.”
OA glances over to Tiff. “An American dead on foreign soil… The Fly Team’s probably gonna get called.”
She nods in agreement. “Yeah. But I doubt that officer knew about my connection. I think they just need someone on the scene who can identify her and give context to why we’re here.”
“When’s the last time you saw her?”
Tiffany sighs. “Earlier this afternoon. We had didactics and then a tutorial session on proper fieldwork. We were supposed to head to our first excavation site tomorrow.”
OA had listened to Clark and Tiffany’s exchange with the officer on the phone back at the restaurant, so he knew the circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious, but it was a matter of how suspicious. They had only been here in a matter of weeks, but a lot could happen in that time.
The SUV slows at the sight of flashing lights and crime scene tape. The sun has gone in for the night and the moonlight glows over the flat lands. Sand kicks up as the wheels halt to a stop and it settles like dust on a night like this where the winds are tame. There’s vast, monumental structures up ahead that resemble temples and probably even further down, tombs. It’s a sprawling complex, most likely dedicated to one of the gods, with its intricately carved hieroglyphics on the walls and grandeur architecture fit for royalty.
The trio get out of the car, Tiffany and OA lasering in to find out who’s in charge while Clarke follows along behind them hesitantly.
They don’t have to wait for long to find their point person as a middle-aged, weathered man approaches them, all business. He bows his head in greeting while skeptically looking over the three. After his once-over assessment, he says, “We spoke on the phone, yes?”
Tiffany replies, “Yes, I’m Tiffany Wallace, one of Professor Chastain’s students. This is Clarke Dulles, one of my classmates, and this is OA Zidan. He’s an FBI agent based in the U.S.”
The detective’s eyes widened at OA’s credentials.
OA holds his hands up defensively, “I’m not here to step on any toes. I’m here as a civilian, but if there’s anything you need, I can call my bosses and get you whatever.”
He nods his head before introducing himself. “Lieutenant Shaheed with the Egyptian National Police.” He addresses them all, “I can’t let you onto the actual scene, but it is… peculiar. And I have questions to ask, both about the professor but also any information you might be able to provide about the oddity of the scene.”
The lieutenant gestures to the nearby officer, silently signaling him over. The man carries a professional digital camera, which Shaheed passes to Tiffany.
It’s been a long time since she’s been faced with having to examine crime scene photos. To gaze at the condition of the deceased human body and the turmoil that encircles the place in which they took their last breath. It’s even more harrowing when she recognizes the woman in the photos.
Professor Abby Chastain. Forty seven years old. Never married. No kids. Doctorate’s in Egyptology and Anthropological Archeology with a special interest in Coptic archeology and the history of scripts and language.
Her body lay in the sand with signs of violent struggle, including abrasions and various lacerated wounds. For a woman who was kind and lively, it’s hard to imagine why anyone would inflict such pain on her. What’s even worse, however, are the strange carved signs that are etched along her skin. If she didn’t know any better, she’d say they looked like-
“Hieroglyphics,” Clarke declares. Tiffany looks up at her, capturing the bewildered expression on her classmate and friend’s face. “Why the hell are their hieroglyphics sculpted into her skin?”
“I was hoping you could answer that for us,” Lieutenant Shaheed provided.
Tiffany frowns, turning her attention back to the camera, continuing to swipe at the pictures. Some of them are close ups of the wounds, and Clarke steps back in discomfort. OA glances at the photos, leaning over Tiffany. He observes. “She’s got ligature marks on her wrists. I can’t really tell if those wounds were carved into her before or after she died, but she was at least in restraints for some time ante-mortem.”
“Why was she at this site alone at night? It’s my understanding that you all are a study abroad group, but surely it’s not ideal to excavate at night? And it makes no sense that she was by herself.”
Tiffany responds to the lieutenant. “Well, she definitely wasn’t completely alone for this to have happened to her,” she notes. “I honestly don’t know what she was doing here or why. We were supposed to have our first excavation site day tomorrow and it was to be with all of us as a group.”
“And she never mentioned to anyone that she would be here?”
Clarke jumps in. “No, we all went out to dinner as a group. We figured she just didn’t want to be around a bunch of grad students so she went back to the hotel.”
The lieutenant hums, taking in their words. “Do you all happen to have any contact information for her family?”
Tiffany gets out her phone. “I think so. We have a shared document with all of our emergency contacts just in case anything happened.”
As they exchange information, OA continues taking in the scene. Several police cars pool at the front of the site, their harsh lights setting the backdrop. He can see the massive stone blocks that sit pridefully on both sides of the entrance, to which OA assumes leads to a tomb. They’re in Luxor, south of Cairo, and the dark Nile was their scenery as they drove along the highway that eventually led them to this site.
There’s officers crawling through the scene, scanning the perimeter for any potential clues, while also traversing back and forth down to the tomb. One officer who emerges from inside approaches the group with a plastic evidence bag covering a leather-bound book.
He grabs Lieutenant Shaheed’s attention. “Found this not far from the deceased. It was open, face-down on the floor.”
Shaheed turns the book over, examining the pages that the book was left on.
Tiffany steps closer, recognizing the handwriting. “That’s the professor’s journal.” She glances over the lieutenant's shoulder as he reads some of the fallen professor’s notes aloud.
“Set- imprisoned by brother under Valley of the Kings. Artifact= awakening?”
“Set?” OA repeats.
“The god of chaos,” Tiffany supplies.
The two men look at her, notes of confusion still coloring their faces.
“In Egyptian mythology, Set is the ancient god that represents chaos and disorder. There’re temples where he’s worshipped, mostly in the old town known as Sepermeru, which is up north closer to Cairo.”
“Could there be any relevance or significance to here?” Shaheed ponders curiously.
“Honestly… I don’t know. I mean, we’ve learned about Egyptian mythology as part of our course work, but none of this is related to why we were here for this project. As far as I knew, there was a supposed family tomb we were to explore tomorrow.”
Shaheed sighs, handing the evidence bag back to the officer. “Well, while there’s security here on the premises, there are unfortunately no surveillance cameras that could’ve identified the goings and comings of individuals onto the premises. My officers will continue collecting evidence while her body will be taken to the morgue for further examination. Given that she’s a U.S. citizen, we’ll more than likely be consulting your comrades for this case.” The lieutenant addresses OA with his last statement.
He nods in response, already prepared to debrief Isobel.
“Thank you for providing us with her family’s information,” Shaheed says to Tiffany and addresses her and Clarke, “We’ll probably have more questions for you two and the rest of your classmates tomorrow. I’m limited in what I can divulge during an active investigation, but my team and I will do our very best to get you some answers.”
Tiff and Clarke both give simultaneous thanks to the astute lieutenant. Tiffany, in particular, felt mildly comforted by the fact that the man seemed particularly competent in his investigation so far.
This entire night had turned into a whirlwind so swiftly. It wasn’t until OA had stopped her rental SUV in front of their apartment complex that she had allowed her mind to settle its intense buzzing.
“Well, I don’t know about y’all, but that drained me. I need to sleep,” Clarke declares as they all get out. OA walks around to the passenger side as Tiff shuts her door, and slips her the keys.
“Thanks for driving back.” Her voice is soft, a tone as low as her mood.
“Of course,” OA says.
The trio had stopped at the apartment complex first before heading to the scene, dropping off a couple of their classmates who had been at the restaurant with them earlier. OA’s car was in the parking lot, having driven separately, but he bypasses the vehicle, instead walking up the stairs behind Clarke and Tiffany as they head back to their temporary home.
Clarke sends them a frazzled “good night” before heading to her unit without another ounce of hesitation. Crime scenes may have been a commonplace location for Tiffany and OA, but the whole night had left the younger grad student a lot more unnerved, given the harrowing circumstances.
OA loiters, but not for long, as Tiffany immediately gestures for him to follow her inside as she unlocks her own apartment. She shares the unit with another of her classmates who must already be asleep if the turned off lights were any indication.
She turns on the lamp atop the end table in the living room before turning to her former colleague.
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay,” he says. “Probably wasn’t the turn of events you were expecting.”
“I’ll say,” she replies with a humorless chuckle. “I didn’t know her that well but it’s still terrible.”
He steps closer to her. “I’m sorry, Tiff.”
Her hand settles on his arm. “Thanks.”
“I doubt she knows that I’ve already been on scene, but I’m still gonna call Isobel. She’ll probably be coordinating with Forrester’s team but I just figured she should know the circumstances.”
Tiffany nods. “Right. We’re what? Six hours ahead?”
“Seven,” OA corrects.
Glancing down at her Apple watch, she notes, “It’s still afternoon in New York. She’ll probably get that call.”
OA gives a small, sympathetic smile. Earlier, he was admiring how at peace she looked. There was a tranquil glow that she wore at the restaurant earlier and it had now dimmed significantly in light of recent events. He, himself, almost felt like a dark cloud that had come in and rained on her aura.
She looks up at him, commiseration in her eyes. “How are you? You came here to get away from work and now you’re kind of smacked in the middle of it.”
He sighs. “I think I just needed to get out of New York. Get away from all my obligations for a while. Obviously, this isn’t ideal, but…”
His sentence trails off, but he doesn’t need to elaborate further. Even if she’s not privy to whatever troubles had triggered his work leave, she knew that it must’ve been a big decision for him to take a leave of absence. She wouldn’t say he was a workaholic or the person who stayed at the office later than others, but he always gave one hundred percent of himself on every case. As far as she knew, he’d been working straight for close to two decades, rarely taking breaks for himself.
It’s how she knows that he probably isn’t going to just wipe his hands of the case just because another team is taking it.
“What time should we meet up tomorrow?”
Her question raises his eyebrows.
“Don’t give me that face,” she chuckles. “Me, Clarke, and the rest of us are gonna head to campus tomorrow. Everyone already knows, but the international education office is already sending us emails about support and arrangements.”
“And I’m assuming Lieutenant Shaheed is probably going to want to take full statements from everyone once they’ve got their ducks in a row…” OA adds.
“Right.”
“I can meet you guys here beforehand, I guess, with any updates I have from Isobel or Scott.”
Tiffany nods her head in agreement.
“You know, I was wanting to hopefully see you again while we’re both here, but obviously this wasn’t what I had in mind.”
“Yeah…” She gives a soft smile. “I was actually thinking the same.”
OA looks down, his expression slightly bashful but entirely sincere. “It’s really good to see you, Tiff.”

Mr. Blue Sky — VoicePlay music video
youtube
The best music evokes powerful emotions. In this case, that emotion is likely to be delight. VoicePlay embodies their name for a toe-tapping classic (and surprise mashup) that is pretty much guaranteed to lift your spirits.
Details:
title: Mr. Blue Sky
original songs / performers: "Mr. Blue Sky" by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO); "Blue Skies" by Ben Selvin & Charles Kaley (as The Knickerbockers)
written by: "Mr. Blue Sky" by Jeff Lynne; "Blue Skies" by Irving Berlin
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 8 March 2019
My favorite bits:
that jaunty, driving rhythm from Layne and Geoff
J.None's exuberant tone on the opening lines
those crunchy harmonies on ♫ "sun shines brightly" ♫ ☀
Eli and J instinctively doing some of the arm-ography from their stage version at the end of the first verse
the smooth transition into "Blue Skies"
Geoff matching J down the octave for the descending ♫ "Who-o-oa" ♫
Layne's playful cheek pops & descending percussion riff
Earl's cute head bobble to go with the falling run on ♫ "so lo-o-o-ong" ♫
that lovely bell chord of ♫ "you you you" ♫ leading into the bridge
adding the fun robotic effect to emulate the original's vocoder 🤖
the rising scoop Geoff puts on his ♫ "yeaaah" ♫ under the final round of clapping
the build-up to the big finish
additional nod for the guys sporting thematically appropriate blue outfits, accentuated by the bar lights behind them

Trivia:
The guys had been performing this arrangement as part of their live shows for at least a year and a half before this recording. The earliest audience video I've found is from the 2017 Kettering A Cappella Festival.
They filmed this video and their next PartWork video, a cover of "Any Way You Want It" by Journey, in one long session. (J.None's outfit in the outro is from the second one.)
When they performed the song live, they replicated the vocoder effect in the bridge by singing through small megaphones. They also included a tutorial break for the audience, because without it, late clappers would throw the guys off the beat.
The cover art emulates the ELO spaceship logo, but seen from above rather than at an angle. It was designed by their pal and frequent production collaborator Rek Dunn.
This track was later included on VoicePlay's "Citrus" album, which compiled most of the songs they recorded from 2017-19. Because the individual songs had already been made available digitally, that album is exclusively a physical item that can only be purchased at live shows or through their website.

The reason I get excited at being able to implement even small functions in RenPy is because whenever I try to follow a cookbook or tutorial: = The information is outdated, and I don't realize this until I get errors trying to execute the code. Much of the documentation that exists is obsolete by now, and RenPy is always updating the syntax it will accept. So you can have code that works for version 7.1.1 if you "word" the code right, but not work for version 8.1.1 because the newer version changed how you express the function. = The tutorial-maker made a mistake or neglected to establish an important variable early on, and you only realize it 5 forum thread posts later when they're like "teehee disregard what I just said, this is the correct code" = The code is poorly-written. Nobody in this Chili's fucking indents their shit. Also y'all need to comment out code with TWO pound signs, not one.
= I keep getting syntax errors because it's like 3 AM and I don't realize I forgot a single quotation mark. = It turns out the function I need to manipulate is a piece of code in screens.rpy or gui.rpy, or both, or neither, or it needs to be defined in the script as well. Nobody tells you where to put init:, for example, everyone assumes you already know you put it in the script. And like I said, because RenPy changes what syntax it will accept with each version of the program, you need to place code in specific places in order for it to work. But some other stuff like changing the text, font, and size of the notify box but not the notification box without also changing all of your game's GUI can be tricky.
= After much banging of head against wall, you realize the way you're implementing something is contradictory and causes a crash because you're trying to make RenPy read something in the wrong order (putting cart before horse) or you're trying to make it read something you haven't defined, or which doesn't exist. The computer can only read variables you have defined. = Didn't indent. = Indented too much. = RenPy decides nah, it doesn't wanna run the code.
That being said, I am now unreasonably excited about finally being able to use object classes in Python. The problem I kept running into in OaS was that, for whatever reason, I couldn't get persistent variables to stick, meaning the flags for triggers that were not as complex as I may have liked. But object classes seem to work around that constraint just fine, and the best part is I don't have to define a million individual variables with easily-breakable if/else statements.
So now instead of the narrative being based on one binary choice while feigning the illusion of divergence in the others, I can craft a more complex narrative that actually takes your choices into account and assigns variables to them that will influence the ending you get or which routes you see.
Implementation is going to be a shit ton of work as usual, but I'm actually really excited to see how this will pan out.
#one of these days I should make a tutorial for basic set-up#it may save another poor soul much grief#renpy

FREECAD. OH MY GOD.
Good morning. It is currently 10:37am on April 7th, 2025. This assignment is due at 3:04pm. I have to be in my car in approximately twenty (20) United States minutes.
Do you see this? I am incredibly aware of my disability today, Lucas. I am going to need new, previously un-discussed accommodations from OAS somewhere along the lines of "PLEASE, DO NOT EVER MAKE ME TRY TO FATHOM SCALE." When I said I don't know how long an inch is or how much 3/4ths of an object is, I really meant it. My head hurts.
Anyway, look at this:
Do you think that can hold a laptop charger? I sure hope so. I don't own a laptop, so I wouldn't know, but I sure hope all the Laptop Havers of the world can use this to solve their very real laptop-related problems!
I think it's ugly as sin, and I hate it. But goddammit, Freecad is hell software. (It actually isn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but it's still pretty bad.)
Basically, the thought behind it was to have something that could slot onto my desk easily and hold the charger. The plan was to make the charger slot into the top, with a piece above it that could slide over it to hold it in place, but I couldn't figure out how to make a sliding piece, so my new hope is that friction will hold it the rest of the way.
-- Ares, where's the tutorial object?
WE'LL GET TO IT WHEN WE GET TO IT. I made the mistake of doing it on one of the Innovation Hub PCs, and now I'm writing the first half of this journal entry from my own PC with no tutorial object. I assure you, however, it's done, was done in less than 30 minutes, and you will see it soon. Just keep scrolling. You're watching me lose it right now. I'm sleepy. Ask Don about the Vermont nudists.
--INTERMISSION--
What did I even do to Freecad just now?
Half my model window has been eaten. Tasks have moved. I have no idea how I clicked this. Restarting the app fixed it, which is somehow more concerning.
--END OF INTERMISSION--
MORE IMPORTANTLY:
My plan for the third one was to make a screw and bolt - it's simple, effective, and honestly, probably useful to learn anyway. So I did some research into how to make threading, and the answer from most places was either:
Lie about it. Make a fake thread sketch with a sawtooth pattern, rotate it 180 degrees, and pretend that it's real. <- this answer seemed interesting but objectively would not work in the real world.
Fasteners workbench. The Freecad website encouraged this, even. <- this seemed far more interesting and actually useful.
Is this cheating? I say no. It's literally on the Freecad wiki as the main suggestion:
Here's the resulting screw:
After adding it, I changed the diameter (M6 -> M8) and set Thread to true.
Here's the nut:
Same applies with the diameter (M6 -> M8) and Thread to true.
These should be able to twist together with ease and not come apart at any angle unless untwisted.
Alright! Now for the adventurous part. The tutorial object has been finished since the day it was assigned. Unfortunately, I am currently experiencing the wrath of God:
I need to get to the Innovation Hub to get the tutorial object from that PC. But instead, I'm in THIS. Perhaps my inability to drive is a blessing. There is fear in my heart. I don't know what I've done to deserve this. There is a tornado literally directly across the street from my house, and if anything else happens by the time I get home, I'm gonna be real' upset about it.
I am now driving into the tornado. If this is my last post, please give all my belongings to my cat.
--TIME SKIP--
It is now 12:24pm. I am at the Innovation Hub. I lived. Here is the tutorial object in all her tutorial glory.
Thank you. This was a truly miserable time.

I'm done with my in denial and OA state. I cant possibly read another book without talking about this bad boy. Buckle up and let's get into it.
I'm really annoyed by how that bomb keep me from remembering my previous feelings for this book, I even forgot the fact that he's a total pain slut (I don't wanna use the word but that sounds good than a sadist and a masochist). I cannot let this happen so I've calmed down, now let's talk about the first thing, he is kidnapped. Period. That guy is a victim of sex trafficking and he's being trained by HER to become a sex slave. The book however didn't get into detail on how you could do that but you get the idea, torture and lots and lots of hand and blow 👩🔬, the request is for the slave to be virgin so yeah, you get it. There were no actual contact between flesh BUT that doesn't mean there's no other contacts. That's not the point though, istg if you're sucked deeply by the plot it's hardly noticeable. Let's focus on his thoughts and her method, this book very well written! Every word fits each other, they are so perfect together, it's like the author used a proper adjective to describe the noun without much restriction and restrain. It's just perfect✨ The way the scene and actions were described is just magnificent ! even the smut and I do not mean it in a way that is sensual or something but you just noticed the words, how the sentence is structured beautifully. It's. very. well. written. Now, let's move on to her method, it was very detailed. The first thing she used against him and that truly fucked his mind, the psychological damage is there. It's a total tutorial I would say, so y'all better not get into my bad side🤭 start tapping my shoulders lightly and shower me with good affirmations coz I'm a fucking sucker of compliments HAHAHAHAHHA. Charot. Anyways, if I were to kidnap someone, I know exactly what to do to fuck them in the head, the space, the silence, the darkness, the frequency. I'm just joking, don't take that seriously😭😭😭 but I might try it out in myself to see if it actually works and watch how damaged i'd be then how I would fix me coz I'm a fucking art myself👁👄👁 (this thought is very weird and alarming HAHAHAHHA) ANYWAYS, next topic is.....i think that's it, there's still a lot going on inside my head but I'm too lazy to type it out for others to read, just read the book. Through this experience, I think I know what to add on my novels to align it with my 'taste'if I plan to write something in the future. I hope I do coz I plan to marry writing. I've been considering it with serious thoughts and deep reflection (this is funny HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA)
I'm done bubbling with this half baked spoiler and conclusion, I wish I could write more but I'm too lazy, do read the book. It's not for the faint heart but I managed so you'd do well. You might even accept it without much thoughts and open mind. Just let me remind you that the girl will fuck him from behind with some toys shit. And I fucking hate that!!!! How i wish it didn't exist. It would have been perfect. It haunts me big time, she even described how she played with his hole 'til it's swollen and red. Fuck. Now my blood is boiling again😭😭😭😭😭
I tried to see this in bright light and it worked, if I continue to dwell on it I'm might consider adding it to my bucket list with anticipation and excitement, let's not get into that. I would love to keep myself sweet and innocent, so let's get into this fix mindset and stay with it, it's for the betterment of my future👁👄👁. See? I'm loving myself real bad.
Have a nice day ahead people.
PS. Don't get me wrong. I love this book so much.

For the prompt, how about Dick deciding to try the museum curator thing again? It's probably one of my favourite jobs for him
Y’know what? I think we just found my new favorite Dick Grayson’s day-job headcanon.
Because I always did like that very brief period too, but all of a sudden, I’m thinking what if not just any museum, but a DC universe specific museum.....akin to the Flash Museum in Central City, but located in New York maybe, and dedicated to the history of superheroes as a whole, throughout the DC Earth’s history.
Imagine a museum along the lines of a specific Smithsonian Institute, or maybe more like one of the Balboa museums in San Diego that are focused around exhibits for kids and visitors from various schools and universities.......all geared towards the history of superheroes on Earth, as well as Earth’s own history in the context of its interaction with various other planets and civilizations, or different arcane dimensions, etc.
There are exhibits donated by Themyscira and Atlantis, and a whole wing dedicated to a fascimile of Earth’s position relative to other known galactic civilizations from Thanagar to Krypton and even Oa. As well as exhibits centering on Earth’s interactions with all of these. There’s a history of the Green Lantern Corps with displays profiling all known Earth GLs....not just the modern ones like Hal, Kyle, John, Guy, Jessica, Simon, etc, but GLs from centuries past. There’s a reconstruction of the Starheart and a Sentinel exhibit that links up with the Justice Society’s wing, and reconstructions of monuments made to Earth GLs on Oa itself, thus highlighting the role of various Earth heroes in galactic history. The Krypton exhibit has items donated by Superman, and tutorials on the Kryptonian language, history, etc, and there are walkthroughs of replicas of the spaceships that brought many of the alien heroes living on Earth here from their homeworlds.
Also an exhibit representing the future Legion of Superheroes, or at least the possibility of them, along with explorations into the various theories and methods of time travel....and maybe some displays from parallel Earths as well. (A nod to the fact that museums like this do exist in the time of the LOSH, but why not earlier?)
There are chronicles of various potential world-ending events and the specific heroes who saved the day each time, as well as memorials to heroes lost over the years......maybe some kind of garden or fountain where visitors who were bystanders at the sites of some of these great battles or who’d been saved by various heroes over the years can leave little notes or mementos of thank you or acknowledgment.
There are replicas of the Arrow family’s trick arrows, and a hall dedicated to the many conspiracy theories that surround Gotham’s mysterious Batclan and which of them may or may not actually even be real. Etc, etc, etc.
And one of the primary curators of all this is one Dick Grayson, adopted eldest of Gotham’s Bruce Wayne, a known benefactor of the Justice League.....and thus its not really all that surprising that he grew up with a seeming fascination with the League and other heroes. He’s like the ultimate superhero fanboy, always happy to chatter anyone’s ear off about hero trivia, and his favorite thing is personally giving tours to the kids visiting the museum on class field trips - perks of the job, he grins at anyone who asks.
In an ironic twist that actually makes his job quite useful, both as a curator of superhero history AND a central figure in the superhero community himself......his position leads to him frequently being consulted by civilian authorities, governments, institutitions, or private individuals who have some kind of situation related to superhero or supervillain activity or which might require superhero involvement to address.....as its acknowledged that few people know more about superheroes than Dick Grayson, and even fewer seem as well connected to the superhero community as he does. If you have a question about superheroes or their history or past involvement with something, and he can’t answer it himself.....you still go to him anyway, as its a safe bet he knows who to call to get said answer.
Similarly, his job and his passion for superhero history also explains why a random civilian is so often in the company of various heroes like Troia, or Garth of Shayeris, whenever the ambassador from Atlantis is visiting the surface. Even explains how he met his one-time fianceé Starfire in the first place. There’s a representation of the Titans in one display, with the Nightwing replica deliberately off in its dimensions and proportions, and when giving tours, Dick’s been known to strike up a ridiculously exaggerated Superman pose right next to the Nightwing display.
He tosses his hair dramatically and says: “Y’know, I’ve been told more than a few times that I actually look a lot like Nightwing myself. C’mon, you guys see the resemblance, right?”
Every time he does this, Bruce mutters something about the Clark Kent School Of Alter Ego-ing Badly, but Dick just rolls his eyes. Oh please, let’s go to the tape, he says. Bruce squints with foreboding, but Dick’s already pulled out his phone and queued up an old TMZ clip of “drunken” Brucie Wayne at some gala years ago pointing to an image of Batman and then to his own ass and loudly asking if the butts match.
“Yeah, keep trying to pin this one on Uncle Clark, Pops,” Dick laughs. “Like I really needed him to be a formative influence when it came to the “hiding in plain sight” approach.”
“I don’t remember that at all,” Bruce denies loftily. “It must have been Hush.”
Selina chooses the perfect moment to saunter by - but then again, all her entrances are artfully timed to be The Perfect Entrance. Its kinda her superpower. She peers at the phone screen for a second and then smiles nostalgically.
“Oh yes, I remember that night.” She pats Bruce consolingly on the arm and drifts off again. “It definitely wasn’t Hush. The butts did match.”

Hari-Hari Terakhir Menjelang Perjalanan Dinas Terakhir Menggunakan Gerbong Stainless Steel New Generation untuk KA Logawa

If I may ask, sensei, how you do the draw? Like, what’s your process, how do you draw wrinkles in fabric, shadows, different lighting, colouring, I don’t know, if you could post a mini-tutorial on how to be awesome (like our boy Prussia) I would appreciate it a lot, but if you don’t have time, that’s totally ok. I’m just looking for ways to improve my artwork and colouring skills, and I would love it if you could, though I totally understand if you can’t. Thanks in advance! 🥰😊✨
Hello!!! I don’t know how late this was sent but if it’s been a while ago im so sorry TToTT!!! I forgot to check tumblr in a while. I could definitely try to make mini-tutorials, but I’m really busy and also suffer from crippling executive dysfunction. So I really can’t promise anything!I can maybe try recording my art process and upload it as a process thing :Oa... I’ll have to think about it. Either way I’m so honoured you asked this of me and I believe in you :)!!
