I'm very excited to experience more Umineko, NezumiVA's stream VODs have become such a nice way to spend my Saturdays, her voice acting, her presentation, it's all so so excellent.

Wait wait wait wait wait. Cal told Daisy that his grandfather was in WWII as a field medic. Aside from the fact that Kyle MacLachlan was born in ‘59 and assuming Cal’s the same age (which checks out with him already being a well-off doctor in ‘88) which would make that one old-ass field medic- this could’ve made everything with Sousa so much funnier. He served in WWII? So did Daisy’s great-grandfather. And Trip’s grandfather. This man is technically old as balls even though he’s relatively young for the SHIELD team because time travel.

What I find even funnier is the very slight chance that this random soldier dr. Johnson and Sousa could’ve actually met. Also the fact that after coming from a generation or two of presumably talented and well-off doctors, Cal goes apeshit and starts drinking gorilla testosterone so he can feel special and immediately murders a few dozen people. Top notch coping mechanisms right there. His therapist must be so proud.

I think my (one of many) favorite thing about The Double is the romance.

At the core of this story, it’s about one woman enacting the revenge and justice of two scorned and murdered women. So the romance instead becomes the perfect seasoning instead of the meat of the plot.

Jiang Li/Fang Fei and Duke Su’s romance progresses organically and refreshingly. It’s not established through grand confessions or plot relevant romantic drama.

Instead, every time they interact, their dynamic mutually progresses. Starting as chess pieces they can use but don’t think about past exploitation, to allies, until their dialogue naturally starts to become flirty and banter-y, and then a bit marriage-y, until they are soulmate ride or die for eachother.

It’s the perfect example of show not tell, and proves some fucking fantastic writing. Because neither of them really discuss the changing beats of their relationship. They are mutually aware of their own evolution and the audience is also aware without needing explicit exposition.

And that is SO FUCKING HARD TO PULL OFF AND YET THEY SOMEHOW DID IT PERFECTLY?!?!?! I’m so impressed

its not exactly a new obsession, more like one that got rekindled, BUT!

The game is called Slay The Princess! a mix between a horror and romance game (trust me, it works)

its one of those games thats really hard to describe, but i swear its amazing. its a visual novel type game that starts with you on a path in the woods, with a voice in your head telling you to go and slay a princess in the basement of a nearby cabin. i really dont want to spoil more than that, but it gets weird fast.

if you can, give it a shot! theres actually a massive free content update coming out this autumn, so nows a great time :D

i do have One iwtv complaint thus far and it's the same complaint that many people have about many different 2020s dramas: Why Is It Graded So Damn Dark. if i had movie theater lighting in here it would be fine but my laptop brightness is up as high as it can get and because i'm in a sunny room, i can't see Anything. in basically any flashback nighttime scene. baby i'm trying to look at my beautiful actors doing their beautiful microexpressions..... please......
