D. What’s the most personal fanfic you’ve written?

Wow, that’s a tough question. In some ways most of my fics feel pretty personal, but in other ways there’s often a bit of remove involved in all of them. That said, there are definitely some personal elements that come into several of my fics. I can sort of identify with the jealousy Han experiences in First Place (and not wanting to fuck up important friendships or relationships because of it). The birth scene in A Girl In Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing) has elements that I took from what I recall from my own experience with childbirth (there’s built-in amnesia to ensure that people will be willing to do that more than once, and also I’m not a Jedi, so it’s not an exact replica, ha). I’d be lying if I said I never had a little fantasy like the one Leia has in Cover Me (although unlike her I didn’t get to make mine come true). Rage lets me get out the fury I often have trouble expressing.

I’ve mentioned The Book of the Lovers as one of my favorite fics I’ve written, and I think that might be the most personal, because it takes so many inspirations from art I love (the Alderaanian poet, certain elements of the holofilm, as well as Star Wars itself) and because it has the stream-of-consciousness structure that is probably closest to the way my thoughts wander.

F. Is there a song or a playlist to associate with One Half Won’t Do?

Yes, there is! The main one is “It’s My Life,” which is the song from which the title and the chapter titles come from. There are two versions I like, the Talk Talk one from the ‘80s and the cover version by No Doubt from the early 2000s. But they both get at the theme of the fic in their lyrics:

Somewhere in the desert of Sumeru lived a large, ancient dragon. Now, said dragon would argue that living a solitary lifestyle suited one as ancient as her, with no one bothering her as she rested. No one, except for a pesky godling, the one who had wielded authority that was rightfully hers, who foolishly visits every Wednesday of the forsaken week. In truth, it has gone on long enough that the ancient dragon had started anticipating such 'house visits'. No, she would huff. They wouldn't go as far to admit any sense of excitement whenever Wednesday came rolling around. Obviously, a grown sovereign such as herself can and has handled loneliness for the past millennia and will continue to do so for a millennia more. {....hm. I'm out of those candied nuts again. It's only Sunday... how... unfortunate...}

Apep gave a sullen huff, and looked at the pile of things the godling had brought over, photographs and human etiquette guides they both found to have a common interest in analyzing and practicing. {Such tiny, puny little beings. But quite resilient little insects as well. And with such small bodies, I'd wager that humans would bring a variety of... snacks whenever they make a long journey... Hmmmmm...} With a wave of her serpentine claws, another domain had appeared on the surface of Teyvat in the Sumeru Desert, surrounded by a dendro rich oasis and temporary relief for humans to come and go by. For now, she mused, she will merely exist as a voice in the oasis, rather appearing in her full draconic regalia lest she scare away any humans foolish enough to wander in the harsh, unforgiving desert.

What's been added to the 3.5 version?

📺 Streamer Mode!

I've been told that it's difficult to stream and monetise age-restricted videos on YouTube and Twitch, so I added an option to remove the sexual content and strong language used in the demo.

Now y'all can invite Ren into your bed for cuddles without putting your streamer career on the line /silly /lh

This won't affect the 18+ rating or dark themes/elements of the game, however! Although Streamer Mode will prevent you from seeing any "gruesome" CGs in the future, most of the core elements of the game will still be tied to the choices and decisions you make. So you won't miss out on the overall experience by using streamer mode!!

⚙️ Custom Pronouns!

It only took me one entire year to get around to it, but you can finally choose your own preferred pronouns (or use a set of pronouns instead)... At the cost of being able to change them mid-game ^^;

Since the original pronoun screen wouldn't update until a new scene was displayed, I temporarily disabled the feature. But once I find a workaround, I'll bring it back!

💗 Choose how others perceive you!

You can now choose how the cast and narration perceive you! Originally, the narration was kept strictly gender-neutral (outside of pronouns and genitalia picked by the player), but this will soon change in future updates.

For more clarity: you don't get to choose the words specifically, but you can choose between masculine, feminine, and androgynous terms!

📋 Separate top and bottom genitalia!

You can now choose your tatas and pps separately! >:3

Alongside that, you can also choose your preferred body type!

I removed the "both" genitalia option because a few players still assumed it was an obscure version of "intersex". That wasn't my intention and I don't want to mislead anyone, so I took it out for now ^^;

I also didn't want to include a screenshot of the new genitalia choices in action (because it's NSFW), so y'all get the same character menu screen for the nth time instead lmao

📱 Relationship Screen Overhaul!

You can now change your own status for more immersion, and long-term Server Boosters will eventually be able to submit and use their own icon within the game as well!

Stalking finding your friends has now become easier by using "Buddy Maps"; a new app that allows you to see the location of all the cast members!

I want to offer players more incentive to check the relationship screen since they tend to miss the status updates, so hopefully this might help ;v;

It also says it "updates every few hours" so folks don't go overboard and check every 5 seconds to see where Ren is gdsghf (also keep in mind that he's a hacker lol)

🖤 Additional Scenes Update!

Day 2 received a brand new CG!!!!! Originally, I planned on only adding a few CGs sporadically throughout the game, but it didn't feel right to leave Day 2 so... empty... so I added a brand new CG to (hopefully) make things feel more balanced and natural!

If you decline Teo's offer on Day 3, Leon will now call and try to convince you to reconsider. However, players are still allowed to decline, and if they do, they'll reach a dead end.

After listening to feedback on itch, I changed some of the dialogue during Days 1-3 to make it seem more consistent! They're only small changes though, so it's honestly not worth looking for sdgjssga

🎶 Updated BGM and SFX!

I wanted to try out a different style of music to see if it fits the vibe of 14DWY more! The BGM features more acoustics to suit the "beachy" theme of Corland Bay, though I made a conscious effort to include piano elements as well to stay true to the original!!

I figured it'd be better to give players a live example before I make a poll (to see if they prefer the change or not) and publish it to Itch.

Some new SFX have also been added, though it's very minimal and honestly not that noticeable.

How to download and play the update?

(warning: clicking on the following links will open Discord!!) To download the Day 3.5 update, simply join the 14DWY Discord server, verify your age, and visit the "14dwy-updates" channel!

Alternatively, you can also wait until the update is publicly released on Itch to play it as well!! (It normally gets released shortly after a round of QA testing/getting feedback from the server, though I may release it earlier if I feel like it hehe ^^)

A. Of the fanfics you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

Oh, this is difficult — as I’ve said here before, they’re a bit like my pets or children, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But if pressed…I’d say my favorites include:

The Book of the Lovers - because it was a bit different in style from my usual, and I loved writing something that just flowed from section to section and also had a strong emotional component throughout. Plus I feel like the time after the events of ESB but before the beginning of ROTJ is really fruitful, if hard, for all our favorites. Han is suffering in carbonite, but Leia’s having to pick up her own pieces while Luke is visibly shaken (and injured) but won’t confide in her, and she’s growing closer with Chewie but each of them has their own grief and feelings of guilt from what went on at Bespin too.

Epic Love - because I was really proud of having figured out a way to make the events of TFA make sense to me, to the Han and Leia I know and love rather than…whatever the hell the ST writers thought they should be.

Mess me up, no one does it better - because it’s one of the fics where I felt increasingly more comfortable with writing smut, and I really loved the way it turned out.

M. What’s the weirdest AU scenario you’ve ever come up with? Did it turn into a story?

I love imagining myself a really wild sort of AU scenario, especially these days. The weirdest one I’ve come up with did turn into a fic, which was supposed to be a sort of wild 5k one-shot for the HanLeia Halloween prompt-a-thon, and somehow has truly taken on a life of its own (be careful, kids: sometimes your wild AUs will grow feelings and plot, and then you are done for).

The premise: Leia decides to invite Han to have a one-night stand to get their mutual attraction (and love, though nobody’s admitting to that at the beginning) out of their systems, because Leia suspects Han is going to have to leave to pay off Jabba soon. He accepts and they have a great time (it’s rated E for a reason), but what they don’t know is that Leia is Force-sensitive/a potential Jedi, and Han is from a clan of Corellians called the Malluma’sinioro (“Sith-maker”), where if they have penetrative sex with a Jedi, it results in a super-fast pregnancy (one hour for every week of gestation) and traditionally the Sith used the resulting offspring to make host bodies for themselves. Oops. So there’s a bit of “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” and a bit of “Han and Leia are in love but surprise babies don’t exactly make things un-complicated in a relationship and also in a war” and a bit of Leia figuring out some new things about herself and her heritage earlier in the timeline.

We need to remember that Shubble stated that Wilbur would manipulate and gaslight friends and family. With this, we must be patient with streamers that were close to Wilbur. This was likely surprising and shocking for them. They may need time to come to terms with what has happened.

I have been vocal about how important it is for men to be critical about abusive behaviors. However, Wilbur had many close friends—some would even consider him family—and now they may feel they hardly knew him at all.

There is a deep stress felt by viewers. It is difficult to think we have given any amount of time or money to an abuser. Could you imagine a close friend right now? The pain and betrayal must sear. They need time to understand what has happened and come to terms with it. Many of them may not be live in the coming days (weeks even).

That being said, as time passes, criticism may be necessary. Complacency is not an option. Men that are willing to ignore abuse to protect an abuser are just as pathetic as the abusers themselves.

Let's give this situation time to breathe. I ask that we give patience and courtesy to those close to Wilbur at this time. But please do not forget that this happened. There may be a few streamers hoping to lay low and then drop a collab in a few months. Do not let them. This is too important.
