They are literally framing these CX-2 scenes the same as Tech scenes from Season 2. Either someone doesn't have a whole lot of imagination (hard to believe with the awesome creation team), someone is purposely tricktrolling us (rude!), or they're the same person - Tech. There was also the limping on Serenno and falling down the waterfall, surviving, and then climbing on the shore in the ipsium cave among others. It's almost like Tech has to relive his life, and death, to be reborn. But why? 😭

Ok wait a damn minute… my friend T pointed this out to me, and I’m posting it for him because he’s too lazy to make his own tumblr 🙄🙄

T said: “Kiner Bros posted these before the finale, so what if, just maybe, these aren’t about the finale, but some season 3 stuff we don’t know about? Crosshair and Tech are in those fanarts, and look at the captions, so if it is about season 3 they gotta be alive. They’re always cryptic af anyway so who knows?”

And I proceeded to scream. T knows this is far fetched, but… fuck it, I’m just gonna hold onto this little sliver of hope.

Bad Batch Season 3 speculation under the cut

So, do we think this means Ventress will come back via nightsister magic? I had originally been thinking Ventress was a red herring and that her appearance is actually a flashback from Quinlan Vos's perspective, but this is giving me pause. Now I'm wondering if the Batch will go to Dathomir for some reason (reviving Tech?), and they run into the ghosts of the nightsisters and/or Ventress raised from the dead?

Also I do not remember this episode very well, so it could be there's something I'm missing that was important in this episode. Guess I'll definitely be rewatching it!

I mean, physically/literally:

His accent is different under the voice modulation

I stg those pained grunts as he lifted the stones were pure Tech

He runs in Creature Posture

The pocketses

He still doesn't give a fuck about following orders

But also narratively:

The lingering closeups whenever he's about to act in regard to the Batch. Is it consideration? Hesitation? They sure want us to wonder.

The story's repeated emphasis on Crosshair being able to anticipate his moves, and the way they match each other beat for beat the whole way down.

The fucking intimacy of the way he almost kills Crosshair. I mean the whole physicality of the fight, but especially the way Clone X had to stare into his eyes while he drowned him.

Why, as a writer, would you waste those story beats on someone who had no personal significance to the Batch? You just wouldn't.

My heart broke for Crosshair when his hands were shaking with the blaster because you just know that affects his aim. Being a marksman is a huge part of him and he must now feel that's gone too and I just know we're going to see that shaking again when he has his rifle back 🥺

"The Turn"

I had a thought about this handsome fellow, and it manifested itself in the form of a little ficlet...

Crosshair's eyes narrowed at the screen as five bright blips suddenly appeared exactly where he was hoping they wouldn't. "There's a squad on our tail, closing fast."

Omega turned with the authority of a commander. "Get to the tail gun. I'll get us out of here."

"You're sure?" One of them had to fly and one of them had to shoot. He wasn't at all happy with their chances knowing that she would have to be responsible for one of those.

"Tech taught me! GO!"

That was unexpectedly comforting news. Crosshair nodded and bolted for the rear of the ship, leaving Omega to hopefully do Tech proud as pilot. She did. She climbed and dove, weaving through the terrain as if Tech himself were guiding her hands.

An angry beeping broke her concentration. "The lead ship's targeting our engines! Crosshair, what do I do?"

Crosshair raced back to the cockpit. "Omega, turn sharp, zero thrusters NOW!"

Omega instantly realized her brother's plan. She turned the ship and cut the engines, then immediately reengaged the thrusters--the "Tech Turn". Crosshair almost instantly removed four of their pursuers from the equation. The pilot of the lead ship however, performed the exact same maneuver the moment Omega had begun her own turn, and was now careening skyward in an attempt to once again get behind the shuttle that now had no gunner in position.

Crosshair's blood ran cold. He knew of only one person who could fly like that, and according to a recent conversation with a very tearful Omega, he couldn't possibly be here. Yet here he was.

"Omega, we have a very big problem."
