Random absolutely goofy thought
Detective!Dust investigating cases of homocide/genocide and mentally part of him is still like "damn. i coulda used that."
Or like "damn. that's a rooky mistake."
I know it's probably not canon but I find the idea kinda funny
Yeah, I think Detective!Dust would be the type to say/think those things during a crime scene. 😂 I bet he'd also say something like this when he figures something out after a while.
*You're smart, but you could at least "try" to make this hard for me.
Tumblr media
I was about to draw him more unhinged. 🤣

@kazinsblog You're so right, good catch!
Tumblr media
He does explicitly say that it affects the blood here. (even though he doesn't say anything about the color)
I have to agree that I do prefer the decision to make it more vague. The fact that Yakou directly tells Yuma that there's something different about the blood specifically not only makes it strange that Yuma is so surprised about seeing pink blood for the first time... it also kind of dampens the reward of being perceptive enough to notice that the blood on the train and on certain character sprites are red and then building a suspicion on that.
Not to mention it would kind of also ruin the twist that's based entirely around the player suspending their disbelief that the blood is supposed to stylistically be that color because heck, that's just how it is in other games.

Oda is going to wake Dazai up with gentle kisses pressed to his face. "Dazai, I know it's our vacation, but we had plans." He teases quietly, avoiding his lips until the other was awake.
Dazai was still of course asleep but he was relaxing on the bed in his sleep. However, he turns his head slowly but not too much showing a light smile on his face from his sleep.

Isn't hilarious how Heiji parents are a lot more similar to Shinichi (much more composed and professional) and Shinichi ones are more similar to Heiji (much more eccentric and bizarre)???
I maybe find it a bit sad!
Both boys seem so disconnected from their parents. Episode 263 reveals that pizza bagel mom didn't even know that Heiji is the kendo captain for his school because he "doesn't tell [them] anything at home."
Tumblr media
And at the end of Episode 221, we learn that she purposefully didn't go see Heiji in the hospital after he got shot (in Episode 118)!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Shinichi gets poisoned and nearly killed, and he doesn't say a word about it to his parents. In "The Desperate Revival," there's a rare bit of emotion about his parents' absence, too. He expresses that he is upset that they've left him all alone in Japan for the past three years (Episode 192):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course the treatment that Heiji and Shinichi get from their parents may have nothing to do with a personality clash... but maybe it does. Maybe Heizo and Shizuka and Yukiko and Yusaku find that their children are nothing like they expected, and they distance themselves as a result.
I will say, though... I think there's something particularly tragic about Yukiko's few appearances across the series (that I've seen). The first time that she lays eyes on Conan, she looks absolutely distressed—as though she didn't want to believe that her son had nearly died and told her nothing about it, but she can't deny it any longer when she finds herself face to face with the truth (Episode 43):
Tumblr media
And while it's maybe more overt in anime-original material like Episode 418, the plot-heavy Episode 345 does reveal that Yukiko worries about Shinichi... but she doesn't approach him. In that special, we learn that she's been hiding in their house and watching Shinichi secretly (and then promptly terrifies him when he investigates). In 418, it's practically the same scenario; Yukiko disguises herself and spies on Shinichi because that's the only way she believes she'll really know how he's doing. If she were to ask, she knows he wouldn't be honest with her.
Tumblr media
I get the sense that Yukiko knows she's screwed up as a parent, but she has no idea how to "fix" it, and she goes about trying in... some less-than-ideal ways.
This is all long and rambling, but I was recently able to digitize my Detective Conan VHS tapes, and—at the moment! I've ordered the ones I'm missing!—that includes six of the eight Shogakukan Illustrated Encyclopedia Series releases (which you can find more information about here). They're kind of obscure Conan content because they were released on VHS only, and, well, spoilers from here on out, so do stop reading now if you don't wanna know.
But the ending of "A Written Challenge from the Pyramids!" got to me. I can't say I super understood the story, but I did understand that Yukiko seemingly can't announce to Shinichi that she's returning to Japan. She has to send riddles for him to solve rather than just say, I wanted to see my son.
And, sure. Maybe I'm thinking too hard. Shinichi likes solving codes. But I do find something kind of sad about how Yukiko feels like she has to connect with Shinichi through games and pranks rather than, you know, honesty.
Also, these tapes are a wild ride. I feel like everyone needs to experience this ending.

Given how often they end up having to solve murders, drug trafficking, kidnappings, and other crimes do you think the Tokyo Metropolian Police Department would just make the Detective Boys official privet investigators or something along those lines. At this point they have more field experience than half the force.
I actually had an unfinished silly comic on THIS VERY TOPIC just sitting, fully scripted/thumbnailed on my desktop, so this ask inspired me to finish it up and post it. XD

Any updates on the case?
I am now waiting to enter the flat of the victim. She is, or rather was, quite affluent, already noticed that because of her clothing. Her expensive living quarters in Camden indicates that further. However, it is quite audible that someone or something is inside the flat. So we will have to be careful when we enter.

Filler Episode Poll: Answer Key
Thanks to everyone who participated, this was really cool data! So for those curious, here’s the answers with vote counts! Out of 949 votes, 268 were for the ‘Sees answers/Detco fan’ category, with the other 681 split between all these.
#9. “The gang re-enacts Home Alone in a closed department store” - 62 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 17: The Department Store Hijacking Case. One of the earliest fillers, the third one ever. I dunno if it’s specifically a Home Alone reference, but it does have that vibe.
#1: “Victim is killed by culprit with a fishing pole from across the street” - 22 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 53: The Mystery Weapon Murder Case. It’s a pretty basic one, just one I happen to like since it’s not technically solved by Conan himself, which fillers don’t do too often.
#5: “Conan's parents buy a nearby house to stalk him in disguise” - 95 votes
Tumblr media
Real, unfortunately. Episode 418: Home of Beika’s Grenier. This one’s pretty bad. If the character limit was longer, I would’ve added “Conan figures it out because an old man stands up wrong.”
#8. “Culprit blinds a driver with a road sign so he can crash into his car on purpose” - 42 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 556: The Fearful Intersection. The culprit committed murder by making it look like he accidentally collided with another car. Gave himself a head injury and probably whiplash and everything, now that’s commitment to the bit. (I didn’t screenshot it, but after that screenshot of the cars crashing, it shows the culprit seemingly unconscious against his own airbag before giving an evil smile.)
#4: “Culprit traps Conan in a collapsing building but is saved by a celebrity cameo” - 34 votes
Tumblr media
Real, and the only two-parter on the list! Episodes 804-805: Conan and Ebizo's Kabuki Jūhachiban Mystery. Honestly I wish I had a longer character limit for this one, because the collapsing building is just one part of this whole thing involving a stolen mask, two murders, blackmail, and getting caught because of a button. The celebrity cameo is Ichikawa Ebizō XI (currently known as Ichikawa Danjūrō XIII, but was Ebizo at the time of this episode,) and focuses on the Kabuki aspect of his career, but it seems like he does a lot of things. The special really just glorifies him the whole time, though he is written as being a massive fan of the show’s idiot detective, Kogoro. Who later almost accuses him of murder.
#6: “Man is catfished by an old lady, who then fakes a murder for Instagram fame” - 198 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 943: The Tokyo Barls Collection. I could’ve made this one so much longer too, and honestly I don’t even know how to screencap it. The name is a play on the “Tokyo Girls Collection” (the name of a Japanese fashion show), apparently. The group of old ladies fake an attempted murder (because one of them pretends to choke on a cabbage core and insists one of her friends put it in her food on purpose somehow) and lure in a famous detective (Kogoro, the catfished one which is also his dark souls boss name) to draw attention to their show. Their apology goes viral on social media afterwards.
This wound up being the most voted by far! I think partly because no one thought Instagram was a thing on the show. Which is fair, the show doesn’t call it that. Maybe Youtube would’ve been a better comparison since it has a view count that goes up, but whatever, same principle-- he’s what it looks like.
Tumblr media
#3: “The gang is hired to find a lost armadillo, the culprits are the Blues Brothers” - 92 votes
Tumblr media
Real, and one of my favorites. Episode 976: Follow Them! Detective Taxi. Not a favorite because it’s good, but because it’s just as insane as that summary suggests. And you can watch it dubbed on Tubi with the BangZoom cast if you want! I’m not sure why you’d want to, but that sure is a thing you can do if you want to watch Kogoro flirt with this cab driver.
#2: “Jewel thief steals pizza from children” - 80 votes
Tumblr media
Real! Episode 1068: Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya's Detective Notes. Man this show has gone on a long time. Technically the culprit only steals the boxes. Had to put the jewels inside something.
And finally...
#7: “Gun smuggling ring is stopped by a drunk remembering what happened last night” - 56 votes
Tumblr media
Fake! As far as I know. With all the episodes of this stupid show there are, maybe there’s a filler I haven’t seen that’s close to this. Oh my who left this fanfic I wrote here how strange, I wonder if the plot is similar to this fake filler episode, I guess you’d have to read it to find out
