As someone who grew up barely protestant, the only consistent church service I went to was Christmas and the nativity play at my junior school until I went to a secular high school and also as someone that unironically likes the glee version of some songs and had like a 5 month long high school musical kick recently, just generally likes musicals:

Journey to Bethlehem is actually so entertaining and they did not have to go so hard with the songs. I could immediately tell it was a modern retelling not intending on being accurate (biblically or historically) and that's fine. It's a movie with Milo Manheim and a donkey named Fig as a repccuring character, it's meant to be campy and for shits and giggles.

#also those getting mad that the songs are studio recorded and lipsynced #i dont understand #to my knowledge thats how most tv and film musicals are made #because it would he hard to do it live and sound constistent through the varied shots and dance takes #everyone talking about good to be king and yes its an amazing villain song #but in my blood is so good as well i dont know it just scratches my brain right #tho the ultimate deception is my favourite #journey to bethlehem #milo manheim #fiona palomo #antonio banderas #is fantastic as king herod #its genuinly just a fun time #break from qsmp stuff to enjoy a good old fashioned movie

watched the eyes of tammy faye last night and still can't decide whether i thought it was a good or bad movie. it wasn't even like oh this is a mediocre movie it was either really good or really bad and i can't tell which. maybe both. who knows.

#DEEPLY weird movie tho #i think jessica chastain's performance was inarguably very good and it was an interesting movie but it felt very thematically confused/all #over the place and oddly given that i think he's genuinely very talented i don't think andrew garfield's performance was 100 percent #a success for me #and it was SO camp which on the one hand i kind of enjoyed but also found distracting. i think the film couldnt make up its mind what it #wanted to be. also jessica chastain as tammy faye bakker sounds like my aunt jackie

#longlegs spoilers look away if you haven’t seen it etc.#had high high hopes for this film and for the most part i enjoyed it a lot #i loved the acting and the production and the atmosphere #the overhanging dread that encompasses the film is so good #and the uncomfortable. anxious everything is great #and nicolas cage is 11/10 #but if you know me you know how i feel about horror films that turn to possession/satan #it’s such. a cop out imo sorry lmao #like this film could’ve been good with it as a weird serial killer fbi procedural #it could’ve been JUST that and been amazing #but tacking on the satan thing 3/4 of the way through just tuned me out man #like!!! make scary movies!!! scary!!! without things that are easily!!! creepy!!#v underwhelming in that regard #story could’ve been better but i did enjoy it nonetheless #and nic cage’s character will be iconic in horror i’m sure #and it’ll be a fun halloween costume #but djdkdkdkf i don’t know i’m rambling now and sleepy anyway!#good movie but not great movie!#maika monroe is THE scream queen tho always

I hate that I hate doing things in my own dude but it's so fucking boring !!!

#i dont go out to eat and i dont go to the movie theater so like the two biggest Default Hang activities are completely non-options for me #i dont like seeing movies in theatre 1) the local one sucks and 2) i cant sit still for over a half hour in a chair that makes me want to #become an arsonist.#ive been to Fancy Good Fun movie theatres and seen Incredible Higjly Rated films and still been like #20 mins in. is it going to be over soon? can i leave? please?#i like going to the library and shopping and walking down by the river and in the woods #but i also Dont Like The Beach because sand makes me want to become a fucking terrorist and the water safety index thing #sent me on a spiral sooo bad ♡ also im too body conscious to enjoy myself #the public pools okay excepts its expensive and over crowded 100% of the time #rock beachs are good i like swimming i just eugh #i also. dont like going to the gyms indoor pool.#its so fucking echoy in there i get a migraine thinking about it #i do like their sauna tho but. again. priced out of that experience! wahoo! also the stairs there are designed to torture me #i like eating outside i like picnics in theory i just cant get comfortable sitting in like 98% of places for more than like 30 mins.#at some point some part of my body is going to start hurting so bad i want to throw up.#i like playing video games and board games but i dont have any consoles or board games so like.#man. idk!#i hate doing things alone bcus i Was Alone for 3 years with my only social contact being my abusive family #i would speak to them maybe 3 times a month and get out of the house maybe 2 times and #idk! idk its just like! okay! im done being socialy isolated!!!#>every activity that you can do to hang out with people is unappealing to me or causes me physical damage #😭 okay nvm!!!

i just watched Barbie (ik i'm late to the party) i don't think they made their point....

#paul & andrew couldn’t save that plot for me im sorry v beautiful film visually but uhhh idk #american fiction wss fun and all but hated that they killed off ** so early like that dynamic was great the little we saw of it #the brothers stuff wasn’t as compelling even tho sterling k brown was as always incredibleee #that man is so damn fine omfg #anyway def enjoyed american fiction more #sorry to andrew scott but i couldn’t help but think that ben whishaw would’ve been a better option for the role idkkk #he shines more when he can use his comedy as well idk the character just didn’t feel suited to him #a good exploration of our love for our parents tho i’ll give them that

I think I said 1 - 2 good shows and movies bc I was thinking about things they are currently making (and actually releasing) so I was mainly referring to like doom patrol and the harley quinn show bc as I've mentioned before I'm not a fan of any of dc most recent movies and a lot of their shows just well I don't personally vibe with them let's say

went to toronto again for new years weekend and spent pretty much the entire time hanging out with paul bellini which included us rewatching a bunch of episodes from kith s4 during dinner on new years eve. and y'know the second best thing about watching kids in the hall with paul bellini is getting to hear a bunch of behind-the-scenes backstory about the inspiration for sketches, previous versions that never saw the light of day, , etc. but the actual best thing about watching kids in the hall with paul bellini is when an entire sketch will play without comment and at the very end he goes "the fuck was that?"

#i already sent a similar thing to the kith discord like right after this happened but i can't stop thinking about it that was so funny #the specific sketch he was reacting to was mark's monologue about having no sex appeal #(paul had completely forgotten that one bc he didn't write it and he wasn't even there the day it was filmed)#we were specifically watching s4 bc he's seen seasons 1-3 fairly recently but s4 he's less familiar with #partially bc he and scott spent so much of the year working on chalet 2000 #but yeah i'll do a full end of the year post as soon as i get the rest of the pics from hanging out at bellini's apartment on new years eve #but yeah this weekend was so fucking good. like we've really come full circle #from the days when i'd joke on here that ''paul bellini is my bestie'' bc he replied to my comment once #bc now i genuinely consider him one of my closest friends and it seems like he sees me that way too #like just the fact that we were hanging out all day both days i was in town even if it was just like running errands together #and any time someone called him he'd make sure to mention ''jessamine's here!'' and he sounded so happy about that #and we watched the video of my standup final together which i used to cringe at just bc i low key bombed in front of the second audience #like i think the performance itself was great the audience just wasn't giving me any reaction #but even tho paul had clearly watched that video multiple times he was still laughing at a lot of it #and making sure to note whenever he genuinely thought i had a great joke which was often #so now i have a completely different association with that set bc i got to see bellini enjoy it #i don't have a specific favorite kith member (i know it seems like it's obviously scott but i love them all for different reasons)#and it's also complicated by knowing some of them irl bc my relationship to each of them is so different and great in their own ways #but yeah there's something so special about my friendship with bellini #i'm so excited to move to toronto full time next year bc i already know i'm probably coming over to paul's for dinner at least once a week
