she's done!

approx 41.5" / 105cm square blanket, corner to corner style

yarn is sirdar stories DK weight 40/60 acrylic/cotton mix in 826 gin fizz, 827 glow sticks, 828 golden hour, 829 mimosas and 836 invite.

pattern is from my brain - corner to corner style with seed stitch edging (this is an ENTIRE pain for the increase/decreases fyi and getting the tension to match the centre is also hard).

the coloured stripes alternate a textured pattern (seed or garter) with a central stockinette with eyelets, there are extra stockinette sections at the first and last corners to provide visual balance. The first and third stripes match, as do the second and fourth. If you check the earlier pictures you'll see I originally intended 5 stripes which would have meant the stripes mirrored round the centre and I'd have picked a third eyelet pattern for the central stripe.

the real trick is knowing WHEN to change colours so the stripes look good, if you fuck up and change when it makes logical sense, then it won't be visually consistent - you can see that on the test one i made for blocking that i just threw together months later - a lot of the colour changes should happen on the wrong side instead.

#toy txt post #while i was away i began my journey into coffee snobbery. im doing my best. i have a lot to learn #i have a fancy hand grinder that all the ppl on reddit hemmedvand hawed andaid it would probably be somewhat #Acceptable for pour over coffee that I got for less than $100. i want you to understand the coffee grinder ppl are insane.#there are grinders for sale that cost like more than my car did brand new. these ppl are insane? i got a chemex pour over #and a glass stovetop gooseneck kettle cos i couldnt find an electric kettle that didnt have the metal touching the water. prolly cos it #would make them less energy efficient and defeat the purpose but i dont fuck w metal water vessels cos historically They Keep Betraying Me #by making my drinks taste like ass. i got some genetic fuckery going on ig. like the cilantro soap gene but its the metal makes water taste #like ass gene? idk. but i wanted a kettle that didnt have metal and i wanted that gooseneck pour so i found one on Amazon. surprisingly #hard to find? annoying. mostly bc every search engine is bad and kept showing me metal kettles anyway. i got a grinder i got a pour over i #got a kettle i got fancy beans from a local small business i started drinking it black. im going to unlock these flavors. i will get it #but also. im still a goblin. i put garlic powder in with the grounds and made garlic coffee. its interesting. it tastes like garlic. and #coffee. but actually the garlic is mostly an aftertaste?#so it feels very similar to drinking a cup of black coffee to accompany your garlic bread actually. the first time i made it i think it #underextracted the coffee tho. second time i extracted the coffee enough but i didnt like it as much? both times. fascinatingly #i did not get strong aromas! which was weird: i find both garlic and coffee have pretty strong scents already #i wouldve thought combining them would make it stronger? it was a little stronger while brewing the second time but smelled good to me #i find the flavor of it compelling enough that id like to try to refine it a bit more and see if i can make it good #ive come a long way since my first garlic coffee haha #(adding garlic salt to black coffee out of a keurig. dont reccomend this: garlic salt has too much salt and it overpowers everything.#could not get a garlic flavor without overpowering salt flavors. so it mostly tasted like seawater with a hint of coffee. garlic powder is #the way to go. anyway next i want to try it with a lighter roast. i was using medium roast #of a local brand that i would name for exposure but wont name lest it doxxes me haha #also want to try egg coffee sometimes? the vietnamese one. looks..intriguing. robusta beans scare me a little tho #anyway. if youre interested in interesting flavors i recc garlic coffee. it was intriguing. if i find a methodology i think tastes best #ill update yall #im also interested in other things. i want to experiment with spicy coffee. chili powder or cayenne #make the paprika dracula coffee haha #im also admittedly intrigued by butter coffee? as a flavor profile tho not for fad diet reasons.

we have an especially bad migraine where I noticed us getting aura (mostly being pissed off and upset in a specific way) for several hours before it started and we've taken pain meds but I'm not sure they've actually helped. they have definitely given us side effects though and I feel very spaced out and nauseous and generally shit.

we've also had way worse ADHD symptoms for the last few days to the point of being pretty much unable to focus on anything besides like 2 things we've hyperfixated on. we've had so much trouble starting tasks and keep struggling to hold a train of thought or focus long enough to even figure out what we need to do each day despite having all our Habitica dailies to tell us.

our brain is all over the place and I'm not really sure what to do with it or what would help but it's just occurred to me that sometimes our ADHD gets really bad in the buildup to some of our worst migraines and now I'm just hoping that both the migraine and other shit ease off soon because I'd like to be able to function

#personal #thoughts #🍬 post #vent post #posts made on pain meds #I've spent like 6 hours drawing today because we fixated on one piece of art that I originally started as a joke #but I probably had other tasks to do and I don't know what any of them were and I tried very hard to at least make a list or something #but just could not hold a coherent train of thought and got really overwhelmed every time I tried to think of stuff I needed to do #so I gave up after a while because I realised my options were to keep trying and failing and just get upset and start dissociating #and end up doing absolutely nothing while feeling really bad #or just go ahead and draw for as long as I can handle because our brain's fixated on it and at least I'd be doing something #and it's also nice to actually be able to work on art for any length of time after having such bad art block so far this year #oh I did also shower shortly after we woke up which was our main big task of the day I think so that's something to be proud of #our tourette's has been bad and that made it surprisingly difficult and it was kind of stressful and exhausting but we did it #it's also just occurred to me that our tourette's and ADHD and a few other issues have all flared up together #followed by a particularly bad migraine which is a pattern we keep noticing and first noticed back in December #and all these issues are known to involve dopamine but I can't figure out what exactly is going on #when it happens we also start getting sensory overload way more easily

played cult of the lamb with a controller for the first time but since it was kinda a cheapy one it had drift

So anyways I decided to see how hard I can make it for myself and ended up playing pentinence mode on extra hard difficulty along with controller drift (because that's how I am) and I beat the first boss first try!!

retreat day 2 done. feeling good but weird

#purrs #for one thing i just ate three (3) (!!!!) bags of pretzels which are the first pretzels ive had in like almost a decade maybe. but for anoth #another…. idk. im not learning abt myself or having insights like i thought i would. im just kind of executing a thing. and also im having s #surface level interactions for the most part… but maybe that’s fine. it’s just i don’t feel like i fit with the staff but also im not a #student anymore and it literally does not matter at all but im in my head about it. except i don’t feel that very much or much of anything a #at all. today has mostly just been surviving and taking notes abt ppl in my pod (the pod is doing good btw they are still not going deep but #they are connecting and working surprisingly well together which is good) and not really using other parts of my brain and im not used to th #that. tomorrow is gonna be so hard though im scared lol. and im scared i’ll oversleep #idk why im not having thoughts. i wish i was. i kinda feel like im knocked out of orbit except i don’t actually feel anything at all #also covid has hit hard in surprising ways. literally no one is hanging out in the community room after hours. like wtf! that’s unheard of!!#retreat tag

it's funny how i love tragic ships, but then ended up shipping aki with a character that no one expect to ship him with (at least in the western side of the fandom)

#himeaki is nice... but in a one-sided way #like yeah himeno loves him but also she had this selfish need for him to agonize over her death #which... is an interesting way of loving someone #and ofc aki loves her whether it's platonic or more than that #he does loves her and look up to her #but he's just too... struck up with grief that only until himeno's death did he realized he need to move on and cherish what he had #aki and angel?? i think it's mostly a product of what he experience with himeno #all of those regrets culminating into this... resignation #that at the very least he doesn't wanna see anyone he knows to die in front of him #and surprisingly i don't ship akiangel #especially after that reveal on angel's beloved person #the one human that he loves and loves him back #god that part hurts so much it makes it hard for me to ship angel with aki because of that #such pure feelings... and to think makima's the one cut it all away... destroying his first connections to humanity #but yeah aki and angel for me is platonic in a sense that angel is watching over him until his time comes to say goodbye to the life he had #and so now... you may ask #why ship aki with denji then?#well i only have one answer #snowball fight #that scene changes everything for me #that's the most tragic fight scene i have ever watch and i literally break down when i realized that aki stopped fighting because #he saw denji's crying face #saying 'i never saw you cry before'#like... that moment of vulnerability... that's what breaks him from the gun devil's (and makima's) control #and that's just so... poetic and tragic in so many ways #so... yeah #that's how i ended up shipping these two #anyway... so many spoilers here #tmi tag
