So I was looking up Sung Hoon after watching "Perfect Marriage Revenge" and what in CDramas is this LOL?? I don't think I've encountered this look in a KDrama. Apparently, it's from "Faith," a drama with Lee Min Ho from 2012.

The Gifs Advent Calendar (kinda) Days 1-8

Day 1 - Seo In Guk in "the Smile has left your eyes"

In december, from the 6th, I started sending gifs everyday to a friend, planning to do it til the 24th. There is no overarching theme, it's just a bunch of gifs about things she likes, and me hoping I know her enough to not get it wrong. I'm now just putting them on tumblr so she can have them all in one place :)(though there'll be other parts, since gifs number is limited)

With kdramas and the like. There’s a trio of series that I consider my staples. My homies. My starters. The ones I’d murder for and watch again and again.

First ever series (Goblin/Guardian The Lonely and Great God)

(Faith/The Great Doctor) I’m a whore for historical fiction. And time travel??? Sign me up

(W:Two Worlds) Found put it had a webtoon after I watched it and about shit myself. The webtoon was made before it apparently but it is such a contrast for the series. It’s like two different interpretations and stories from one story.

Another series that I watched before W and is a staple but not my main trio for main dramas is Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Comedy and romance. An epic win for the community.

Gaduri Restaurant and Instead of Tipsy Let’s Get Drunk are also really cute series featuring food!

Meanwhile my sister appreciates My Strange Hero and Clean with Passion for Now.

When it comes to Office Romance and the like my favorite has to be Business Proposal as I was a huge fan of the web series before the drama came out. And I was so excited to watch the drama that I had my sister watch it with me. Along with Extraordinary Attorney Woo which got a webtoon!!! Hooray! When I caught up with the series I went looking to see if it was based off a webtoon but because it wasn’t I was a bit sad because out of content. However say no more! Because here’s a webtoon based on the drama!

More Lost Loves (6-10):

(6) Faith/The Great Doctor:

The actor, Phillip Lee, suffered a major eye injury while on set so he could not continue his part. Thus, Dr. Jang Bin had to die.

He was an exceptional doctor for his time. He was intelligent and caring and lived to learn. He was all about his patients and helping them the best way he could. I was saddened by his sudden death 😢.

(7) Gu Family Book/Kang Chi, the beginning:

Kang Chi’s father’s death was 😢 sad and unnecessary. He was a Gumiho and Protector of the Mountain, a good soul, caring and helpful. Played by Choi Jin-Hyuk, Gu Wol-Ryung was betrayed by the woman (played by Lee Yu-bi ) he truly loved.

They marry and he begins the process of turning into a human. When she sees him as a Gumiho , she runs away. He is mortally wounded and she leaves him to die. Because he didn’t complete the process of turning into a human, he becomes a Demon and now he is killing innocent people. He finds his love but she dies. He takes her to their den, lays her on their bed, he lays beside her and just simply ceases to exist. All of his pain and suffering was due to her selfishness, but he still loved her. I didn’t want him to die, I just wanted him to become ‘good’ again. I really liked this Gumiho!

(8) Goblin/Guardian: the Lonely and Great God:

I totally loved the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook), especially when he and the Goblin would go at it. I was saddened by his death, but I do understand that he needed to be with his soulmate. Why did Eun-Tak have to die? She was reincarnated many, many, many years later, but the Goblin still suffered all that time from loneliness, all alone again waiting for her return.

(9) Iris, the series:

Why did Hyeon-Jun have to die?? This death scene is one of the most riveting and shocking death scene I have ever seen. It literally took my breath away because it was so unexpected and it was so realistic, he trying to call out to her, to reach her. I was literally depressed for a week from just those last three minutes. I had been so happy that they survived and could finally be together.

(10) Mr. Sunshine:

Why didn’t Eugene just stay on the train car with Ae-Shin?? I don’t think he had to sacrifice himself for her to live. I so wanted them to be together. This was another ‘end of the series’ death scene that caught me off guard.

Rewatch: The Great Doctor, episodes 21-24 (finale)

Rewatch notes begin

This series is also known as Faith.

We've been talking about how the endings to Last Twilight and The Sign were rushed, making it feel like the endings hadn't been supported by what came before. That the series needed to be 12 episodes, when 13 or 14 would have made more sense to land their respective endings, meant that we had less than satisfying endings.

Well, even a 24 episode series can have a rushed ending, and that's what happened with The Great Doctor. Even with that, I loved the series and recommend it, with, of course, content warnings for violence and gory medical stuff.

The one dialog I remember from when I saw the series 5+ years ago was evil Prince Gi Cheol asking the doctor if his malady - unrelenting greed even though he already had everything he could possibly ask for - could be solved in the doctor's world. She said it would be difficult, as many people in the future have the same malady. Gi Cheol refuses to believe her. I misremembered where the dialog happened though, thinking it was near the heaven gate, while actually it happened during Gi Cheol's confinement in the palace dungeon. Not that it matters where it happened.

Spoilers follow.

There's a plot hole that I kept expecting to be filled that never got filled. Doctor You Eun Soo is set to die from a tick poison if she doesn't get some antibiotics or come up with an antidote that doesn't exist in 1350's Goryeo. We saw Dae Man drop a vial of antibiotic in the royal medical office in an early episode. Presumably it's still there under a table somewhere, waiting to be discovered. If they had found it, it would have been far simpler than what actually transpired.

The Doctor attempts a dangerous homeopathic style remedy, using another poison to counteract the first poison. It works, although it requires Choi Young to chew up the remaining fever reducing aspirin and feed it to the doctor mouth to mouth.

Gi Cheol attempts to use the gate and is flung back out. This is where the science part fails - why would Choi Young be able to use the gate and not Gi Cheol?

Yet, in the last 20 minutes, Eu Soo walks right in and finds herself in 2012 Seoul. Why? She's cured her poison. Gi Cheol has frozen to death - presumably for overuse of his powers - and the fire woman and the piper have been slain. She's free to remain in Goryeo. But she doesn't.

She jumps to the future, immediately retrieves stuff from her office, and returns to the wormhole, only to find herself in 1200's Goryeo, solidly part of Yuan. We know from earlier in the series that she becomes a respected doctor there.

Again, why? She doesn't say goodbye to her parents, only grabs a portable video player/projector with a recording of them. And of course, the player runs out of power with no way to recharge.

She also grabs some tools and supplies. The supplies will eventually run out and she won't be able to replace them.

While in the 1200's, she keeps returning to the wormhole site and eventually makes it back to 1350's Goryeo, five years later, coming upon Choi Young at the tree where she last saw him. Of course, she comes without her tools or the recorder, so they remain behind to become relics.

Okay, so if she hadn't left the relics behind, they wouldn't have made it to Gi Cheol, so that Gi Cheol wants her to live rather than die, so I guess they do serve some kind of purpose. But still, this series of events deserved a full episode, not just a rushed 20 minutes.

But would I watch it again? Damn sure I would.

Shocker, genuinely curious: Are you even old enough to drink? Cruel to kill a man who ain’t had his first drink yet.

Electro: Please tell us you’re at least over 25 as of this fight. Hell, I’ll take over 21!

Sandman, realizing just how young he really is: Oh my god.

Started rewatching Faith with a friend ♥ Watched it back when it aired, and I've rewatched it (entirely + bits and pieces here and there) through the years. So happy to give it a proper rewatch ♥ Those are basically notes in gif forms :') (though I'm also taking handwritten notes) (because I'll be doing a video on it, not because I take notes everytime I watch a drama)

J'ai commencé à revoir Faith avec une amie ♥ Je l'avais regardé pendant sa diffusion et l'ai revu (entièrement + des petits bouts ici et là) au fil des années. Super ravie de le revoir correctement ♥ Ces gifs sont en gros des ntoes en forme de gifs :') (même si je prends aussi des notes à la main)(parce que je prévois une vidéo dessus, pas parce que je prends des notes chaque fois que je regarde un drama)
