*Spidey and the Sinister Six having their usual fight*
Doc Ock, landing a hit: You’re getting slow Spider-Man! Age finally catching up to you?
Spider-Man: You wish! I haven’t even hit my 30s! From those costumes I can already tell I failed to save you guys from those midlife crises! Sorry by the way.
Vulture: Watch it wallcr- wait… Did you just say your not in your thirties yet?
Spider-Man: Surprised that this spiders so young and spry? Well-
Electro: Dude I’ve been fighting you for at least 5 fucking years! How old even are you?
Shocker, joking cause he’s the only one who picked up no grown adult acts likes Spidey: Don’t swear in-front of the boy you don’t want him to pick it up.
Rhino: Christ! You’re tellin me I almost crushed some 12-year-olds skull all those years ago?
Spider-Man, regretting his quipping: I was not that young! Like just starting freshman year but-
Sandman, horrified as he’s the only one with a kid and dad instincts(as of my iteration): I could’ve killed a kid…
Shocker, genuinely curious: Are you even old enough to drink? Cruel to kill a man who ain’t had his first drink yet.
Electro: Please tell us you’re at least over 25 as of this fight. Hell, I’ll take over 21!
Spider-Man:….
Sandman, realizing just how young he really is: Oh my god.
Spider-Man: My birthday’s coming up soon so I guess it counts?
Doc Ock, exacerbated: It. Does. Not!
Vulture: What would your mother think if she knew her son was out here risking his life telling poorly constructed jokes?
Spider-Man, offended cause it quips slap: 1. My jokes are great 2. She and my dad are dead so-
Sandman, hysterical cause holy shit he almost killed a kid orphan: OH MY GOD!

Worm Arc 15 thoughts without interludes (interludes need their own post):
EVERYTHING IS FIIIIIIIINE
My daughters boss didn't actually try to assassinate her, her just planned to do it and then did it in one reality but kept the reality where he didn't! So it's ok! I'm fine. Not worried at all that Coil knows Skitter was planning on double crossing him and that he found a way to screw with Tattletales powers.
It's fiiiine (eye twitches)
I want to say I'm glad she got her full team on board, but given that there is a chance someone on her team ratted on her it might not be good.
Skitter goes a little bit far at the end with Triumph. Just a tiny itty bitty bit far. Child you almost KILLED HIM! And then you let him sit there dying when the threat isn't that he'll die now, but that you will come back if needed (mayor ain't going to say what you want him to say if you kill his son, the point is if he doesn't say it you'll come back)! I'm worried about you.
Brian I understand why you like my daughter and she seems to like you and I'm glad having someone you feel safe with is helping you process your very valid trauma (important note, you could have done the same with your sister, she was trying to help you but you wouldn't open up to her, you should open up to her). But please don't get in the way of her relationships with her girlfriends. Just understand in terms of long term stuff Chatterbug and Wolfspider 100% trump . . . Darkbug? Fuck what are you guys called?
(I've been informed Shadeswarm, Nightcrawler, Night Biter, Creepy Crawlies, or Carapace. I think Creepy Crawlies might be my preference among that.)
MOAR DOLL LESBIAN CONTENT!!!!!
Parian is one of my absolute favorite characters! Flechette is pretty cool as well. Being a hero hurts her. Stabbing my daughter also didn't build good marks with me, but I understand why she did it. Cause GAAAAAAAAAAAY. I have a hard time being too mad at a lesbian stabbing someone to protect her girlfriend.
I'm glad Parian isn't joining Coil full hog at least, she's too pure to be a villain (or a "hero"). I kinda wish she could just move to New York and be a fashion designer and live her best life, but I do enjoy the idea of getting to see her more.
And to be honest, I don't think anyone on Earth Bet is really going to be living their best life in the long run. Sorry guys.
The fucking shutdown the team gives to the Nazis is AMAZING! Like ya no Hookwolf or Purity this time, that obviously would have made it harder. But still, comparing the previous fight to this just really shows how much the team has increased in power. They didn't even bring Grue.
Skitter and Tattletale being able to work together to find all the people in a few block radius and figure out which groups are Nazis, all while just standing in the middle of the street, is so fucking cool. I fucking love watching them work.
I don't love the girlfriends fighting with the whole "Skitter wasn't told about the plan to have Regent yoink a Nazi". But they seemed to make up pretty quickly.
Skitter fucking running multiple bug clones, with cameras and microphones, all across her territory, and using them to talk to people and check in on things, WHILE getting surgery on her shoulder??! FUCKING HELL. Like ok yes, please love yourself child and let yourself take it easy sometimes. But also holy shit that is so god damn amazing. I am 100% convinced (I mean, I have been since like Arc 4 TBH) that she uses her bugs to basically offload her pain. Or offloads her mind to her bugs so she can ignore the pain in her body. Same idea. Like even if it's never confirmed it is true to me. And the multitasking! Give Taylor a Thinker classification!!
Just fucking attacking the mayor's family to intimidate him into telling people in Washington to not condemn Brockton Bay huh? I mean sure it kinda worked at the end (assuming he does what he said he would) but it really seems like a terrible plan. Like, the people in Washington are gonna hear about the attack and wonder about everything the mayor says. But fine, that's the plan.
Skitter making the bug clones complex enough that Trickster and Genesis don't even notice she's a clone at first is super cool! Also it does drive home that she is always just covered with so many bugs and using swarm speech so much that when a version of her shows up that is completely covered in bugs and speaks fully with swarm speech it doesn't throw anyone off.
Coil had to know that Triumph was the mayor's kid. The fact that he's the one who pushed to have them attack during family dinner.
I'm really proud of Skitter for figuring it out though! I pegged him as a cape pretty much right away and was able to figure out it was Triumph not long after, but she was in the heat of the moment. Also she got the girlfriend pegged as a either Prism or Ursa while I was still uncertain if she was a cape.
Holy shit that fight was so fucking cinematic! Perfectly built for Triumph to look cool by exploding bug clones with his shouts. And with Prism splitting and combining constantly. Just fuck. I'd love to see an animation of that fight. It was super cool.
And again, Skitter got dark there. And sadly I'm worried she's gonna get darker.

#DINAH Masterpost: Rafael & Ronen's M&Gs
This is all from memory, lots of quick notes taken after the meetings and other fans’ contributions so I apologize in advance if some things/dialogues are not 100% accurate. Photo credits to xkeelyx1
Ronen's Saturday M&G: • He just recently hung out with Liv Tyler. He misses her a lot on set and he hopes she will be back for the tarlos wedding considering both Carlos and Nancy are very close to her.
• His favourite Harry Styles songs right now are "Cinema" and "Boyfriends". • He thinks TK got into his addiction the same way he did. Just being around wrong people and bad influences in high school especially considering how New York is the biggest place for opioids. He said TK was probably a bad boy. TK and him are so similar it's weird. After reading his first script he thought playing the character would be kind of therapeutic for him. • The first two things that are on his bucket list are: teach the same theatre program in his high school that he started in and work with the students and be one of the coaches; and start an opioid program in Staten Island because that's the worst borough in New York for drugs. • He owes his life to one of his high school teachers who was like a mum for him in high school. • He would love to do theatre and Broadway at some point. He wants to do "Streetcar named Desire". That's one of his biggest dreams. • He thinks TK and Andrea’s relationship has got to bloom at some point. TK doesn't have a mother figure anymore. Tommy is his captain so Andrea would be perfect for that role. He would love to get more TK and Gabriel stuff too.   • Roxana is hilarious and amazing to work with. • Someone suggested TK could sing to Carlos at their wedding and he said that the perfect song would be "Heroes" by Enrique Iglesias. • He thinks a crossover in season 4 is pretty much given. They couldn't do one in season 3 because Covid killed their budget but he thinks their budget is gonna get back to normal soon. • The plan for season 3 was to have a two episodes crossover. • Team Buck or team Eddie? Probably team Buck since they had some scenes together in the crossover. • He would like to shoot a scene with Angela Bassett. • He really hopes we're gonna see Jonah. If he's not mistaken Tim has said we're probably gonna see Enzo at some point too. Enzo is a massive father figure for TK cause he was there when Owen wasn't. He wants Alexander Skarsgard to play the part. "TK is gonna have a crush on his step daddy, or well, step zaddy". Timothy Olyphant or Josh Duhamel would be cool too. • We're getting a big tarlos wedding. Tim wants to make sure they earn that. Rafael and him want to see them being engaged and not rushed into it. Things are probably not gonna go smooth all the time for them. • He really wants to get more Carlos backstory. "I need to see more, I don't know anything about Carlos as Ronen." A fan was like "where do you come from?" referring to Carlos and Ronen went "heaven". • He thinks TK would be a hot mess if Carlos were to get hurt. He wouldn't handle it stoically as Carlos and he would definitely try to kill the person who hurt him. That could also potentially put his sobriety at risk. He would love to do another fight scene. • He thinks a 911 Lone Star convention with the whole cast is feasible.
Rafael's Saturday M&G: • He thinks Carlos has sisters, he can't be an only child. He definitely grew up with a lot of women in the house. • He thinks they're still playing it very safe with tarlos and that they're still being generic with their storylines. • In the 3x08 promo we see Carlos on the phone while the plane was going down. Carlos was trying to reach TK and he left him a voicemail. He remembered what the message was but he wouldn't tell us. • The cut dinner scene from season 1 was Carlos making dinner and him and TK were talking about Iris. But production changed the storyline so that scene didn't really make any sense anymore so that's why it got cut. TK was also feeling guilty about something "as always". He finds it so ridiculous that they keep using the still from that cut scene to promote the show everywhere. • He wants to see Carlos get hurt too but he's starting to take it personally that so many people want him to be in pain. • He thinks there's a huge difference in Carlos getting hurt and in police officer Reyes getting hurt. Because if it's Carlos getting hurt then that's more exclusive to TK and his family and potentially the 126; while if it's police officer Reyes getting hurt then that involves the department and literally everybody else. • He wants TK to think he got stood up at the wedding so bad. It could go that Carlos is on his way to the wedding and maybe an accident happens and there's traffic and he could get hurt there.  • He really wants a Carlos begins episode. He wants to see what kind of mistakes he makes cause that man's not perfect. • He brought up fanfiction out of nowhere. He hasn't read any and he was shocked to hear there are graphic ones. "Are there some orgies happening? Is that why it's so hot in here?" He asked for titles but we all refused. • Shooting the tarlos proposal was the most fun he had shooting a scene. That was the last shoot of the second to last day. • He finds it funny that people focused on the "fucking lizard" line during the proposal. • He might write a script rather than a book. • He wants to get Ronen back for always posting videos of him sleeping. A fan called Ronen "a little shit" for doing that and he absolutely lost it. About him reacting with his famous "Ronen": "I love Ronen, I really do. I understand him and I see him so that's why I react that way".
Tarlos Saturday M&G: • Ronen: "you guys made us the highest selling couple of the convention. I mean it's not a competition but..." Rafael laughing: "It's not a competition but fuck them all" • They got asked if they have any lgbtq+ couples or tv shows/movies they look up to. For Rafael it's "Weekend" and "God’s Own Country"; for Ronen it's "Moonlight". • A fan asked them about tarlos wearing shoes in bed during 2x12. They tried shooting the scene with them taking off their shoes but it didn't flow and it was mostly a security/technical matter since they literally had to walk through real fire. That would have just been an impediment to get the scene out. • Carlos having longer hair in season 3 was all Rafael. • They got asked who breaks character more often between the two and it's Rafael. Cause he doesn't shoot often with Julian, Natacha and Brian and shooting with them is both the best and worst time ever. They're all funny and always make him histerically laugh. During the scene when he goes into the firehouse in 3x07, Julian, Natacha and Brian wouldn't stop making him laugh and they had to adlib during that scene so they would just keep saying the dumbest stuff. In that scene Ronen adlibs "I'm not even a firefighter anymore". Jim says some crazy stuff too and at times it's really hard to keep going during scenes. • They got asked if they could choose another actor to play Carlos/TK who would they choose and Ronen didn't miss a beat and said that nobody else could ever play Carlos Reyes. Ronen: "This is the guy and I can't even begin to imagine somebody else in the part."  Rafael: "I've never encountered myself wishing that another actor would play his role" Ronen: "Except when I annoy him and take videos in secret and he's just "Ronen". There are so many videos that you've never seen". Rafael: "I like this guy and I'm not just saying that cause he said it." • Regarding the audition tapes. Rafael said he never wants to see them but those would probably explain why they're here right now. Their connection was right from the beginning. They barely spoke and the chemistry was just there. Ronen said he doesn't want to be mean but once Rafael auditioned he went to the producers and said "Do we even have to see the other guy?" cause there was just another actor auditioning for the part. • Rafael talked again about how they're playing it safe with tarlos and Ronen went "in Station 19 you have Danielle flashing Stefania and I'm like "why aren't we doing that???" Rafael: "Are you gonna wear a sock?" Ronen: "No" Rafael: "No?! No sock?! Lord" Ronen: "I'll wear underwear, the camera just won't see it." Rafael: "Are we still talking about it?!" • The scenes in 3x15 with the lizard were added two days before shooting the episode. Rafael didn't know the lizard was real at first and just shaked the box it was in. It didn't move at all so he thought it was fake and he ended up traumatizing the poor animal. • Rafael said he can actually picture Ronen doing something like that too, just picking up a random lizard and bringing it home and Rafael would just have the same reaction as Carlos and go "Ronen NO" • A fan mentioned how they would love to see them both doing theatre and Ronen went "Tarlos: a Broadway show. Or Tarlos: the musical" Rafael: "It would be the gayest thing ever". • Lighting has been a problem for the past 3 seasons. The scenes are shot beautifully but the filter they use just make them all look grey and it gets frustrating for them too because irl they don't look anything like that. But it definitely improved from season 1. • They would love to have Liv back for the tarlos wedding. • They didn't notice that the time the proposal happened at (3:18am) was also the number of the episode. • During Carlos' hospital monologue Rafael improvised the "Believe people when they tell you who they are". They shot the dream sequence first so in order to add something for Carlos to appear really mad, he got mad too and added that line. The dream sequence was a crazy day of shooting cause they had to keep putting Rafael in and out of the scene while Ronen was walking around the living room. • They both want the wedding to happen at the right time and for it to not be rushed.
Tarlos Sunday Breakfast: • Ronen mentioned how he was waiting for Rafael to do the tarlos photos the day before and that he stood in line with fans. Ronen: "You were late and I was in line waiting for you." Rafael: "Ronen, do you know the joy I get in having YOU wait for me" Ronen: "I'm pretty punctual" Rafael: "Yeah, we're not talking about that" Ronen: "on SET. Not the make up trailer" • Ronen is an iced coffee guy and he didn't know what Rafael drinks, which is hot black coffee. When he suggested he likes tea Rafael was so affronted. He judged Ronen for liking iced coffee because it's such an American thing. • A fan brought them a gift and they joked that it's for both of them. Rafael: "You give Ronen something and then I meet all of you and you go "I gave Ronen something for you" and I go??? Where is it???" We learned Ronen doesn't share alcohol. • Someone was talking about the heat and went "where's a paramedic when you need one" and Rafael pointed at Ronen and went "She's right here" • Rafael loves the dinner scene in 1x03 cause that's the scene that made him fall in love with tarlos. • Ronen's favourite scene always changes. The engagement is number 1 and then he loves the scenes where they talk about TK's sponsor in 3x13. • Rafael really got mad at the "You know he's straight, right?" line in that scene cause that’s such a stereotypical line among queer couples. For Ronen that just made it more real.
Rafael's Sunday M&G: • Not many questions were asked during this M&G cause it was mostly a conversation about the convention, Paris, the videos he recorded for fans and the show in general and what it means to people and how it helped lots of fans during the pandemic. • He talked a bit about his trip to Ireland and how he risked his life there by driving too close to the edge of a cliff. • "Eveyone's a child. Everyone goes to bed having ice cream and watching Pocahontas" • He has watched Heartstopper.

Carnival Row season 2 episodes 1 and 2 review
Tumblr media
I just watched the first two episodes of Season 2 of Carnival Row.   There was a very long recap of what happened in Season 1. There was an unusually long gap between season 1 and 2, nearly a full four years between seasons, something rare for TV or streaming but Covid got in the way of Season 2′s already lengthy production and I think they ended up scrapping the original plan for Season 2 to make this wrap up all the loose ends of season 1. First a reminder of what the premise is of Carnival Row.  Carnival Row is about a fantasy world that resembles our own world in the Victorian era.  Carnival Row is the name of the ghetto similar to London’s White Chapel or New York’s Hell’s Kitchen of the nineteenth century.  Faeries (known as pix), trolls, fauns, centaurs, Kobolds, and werewolves.  Supernatural creatures are treated as second-class citizens and are known by the racist slur of “Critch.” (a bastardization of “creature.”)
The main character is Philo Rycroft, a half-fae who (until the events of season 1) was “human passing” and worked as a police inspector.  Philo’s former lover, a faery named Vignette comes to The Burge (The city-country) as an indentured servant.  She gains her freedom and soon finds herself wrapped up in the activities of a small crime syndicate acting out of Carnival Row.  Vignette (who is bisexual) has a former lover, Tourmaline (a prostitute working out of Carnival Row).
Tumblr media
Through many plot twists it is gets revealed that Philo is the bastard son of the Chancellor, Breakspeare (a high ranking political figure).  And he has a half-brother, Jonah.  Jonah is busy stirring up racial hatred for the sake of political manipulations with his lover and supposed political rival who is actually his sister, Sophie. A late-middle aged gentleman named Runyan Millworthy, who has deep sympathies for the fae managed to establish himself in the good graces of Jonah, and so is able to try manipulate things for the better. And a high class human woman named Imogen runs off with a faun lover.
In season 2 of Carnival Row the story begins with Carnival Row sealed off with barbed wire and looking alarmingly like a a World War 2 Jewish ghetto. This is the result of the Chancellor's murder in the pervious season as the fae are being blamed.
Tumblr media
There have always been obvious allegories for immigration, what happened to the Irish during the “Potato famine,” colonialism, and other social allegories but this season is very quick to dive into that darkness.  There’s an illness that resembles tuberculosis plaguing the fae and medicine is scarce.
Vignette is viewed as a hero for leading raids out of the ghetto to steal medicine. Her former lover, Tourmaline, has gained the powers of a deceased witch who used entrails to see the future. (There’s a gruesome and unnecessary death scene of a child’s cat in the first episode). Philo wins a favor of a minor crime lord in “The Row” (another name for Carnival Row) who helps him free a former soldier friend (a werewolf) from prison, as being a werewolf is an automatic life sentence or death. Imogen and her lover escaped The Burge but find themselves in the domain of The New Dawn (which is very blatantly their world’s version of The Soviet Union).  Last season had The Pact, which was a Nazi-Germany like country driving the fae out of their homeland, which is how they ended up in The Burge.
Tumblr media
  During a political dinner Philo intended to reveal his true lineage (with the aid of Runyan) as to try to get Carnival Row opened up again (as it’s a sealed off ghetto now).  This was not likely to work because even if Philo was believed and he inherited his biological father’s title, there is the matter of the racism against him for being half-Critch. Before he could do this, however, Vignette (wearing a mask) and some of her criminal compatriots show up at the dinner in order to present a dying fae woman to show the people in power what they are doing to them. This doesn’t seem to win sympathy or mercy, however, as the heads (and wings) of those Vignette was under in her Criminal organization, are soon nailed to to the wall surrounding Carnival Row. The wall had already gained the heads of four fauns who were used as scapegoats (I just noticed the symbolism of fauns as scapegoats. I’m thick...) for the death of the councilor.  One of these behead fauns, I believe, is the missing brother, of Sophie’s favorite servant, though it’s hard to tell if Sophie actually realizes this or not. Jonah and Sophie are talking about spreading out The Burge as an empire “like it once was” (clearly The British empire) including taking the fae homeland (which is pretty blatantly Ireland). There’s been one unsolved murder in the season, caused by someone who can fly but apparently has leathery bat-like wings and not the fluttery fae wings (My guess is some type of vampire that hasn’t been introduced in the show yet). And that’s pretty much where the plot is right now.
The pacing of season 2 is decent. Like in Season 1, Runyan Millworthy (the older human character) is my favorite character so far.
Tumblr media
The World War 2 allegories are a bit ham fisted and darker than than classism and immigration allegories of the first season, which I used to consider ham-fisted but these are much more blunt.  I get their purpose and meaning but it’s so intense and amplified that I almost wonder if it’s disrespectful to the real horror of what happened in the holocaust.                       A lot of the symbolism is pretty blatant but it’s good to see the world-buliding such as with the “New Dawn” which is a government sprung from revolution (much like the Russian revolution) and feels like an early Soviet Union equivalent for this world.
I do wish more fantasy shows would tap into the genre of Gaslamp fantasy. It’s as if people have it in their head that if it isn’t Urban fantasy (set in present day in our world) that it should then be medieval-esque fantasy.  A fantasy world that is not actually our world but just similar, and looking a lot like our Victorian era is a refreshingly new visual.  I can almost imagine this world as being the same one from The Witcher, just a few centuries in the future.   I like the setting and the world building.  The special effects are also decent.  But it’s just gotten so bleak.  I would like the show to finally show a little hope.  Gothic does not mean depressing or ugly.   Something can be Gothic and also hopeful.

Comics read this past week:
Marvel Comics:
Captain America (2017) #695-700
These issues were published across November 2017 to April 2018, according to the Marvel Wiki. All were written by Mark Waid, drawn by Chris Samnee, and colored by Matthew Wilson.
Issues #695-697 were all stand-alone stories, part of an arc called “Home of the Brave,” as Steve was road-tripping through the United States in search of a new place to settle down. He explains this in issue #696 as, “I’m tired of being a couch-surfer. I haven’t had my own place in years that wasn’t subsidized by S.H.I.E.L.D. or Tony Stark or whoever before all that went away. Which always tied me to the New York area.”
I found the Captain America event in issue #695 endearing. And I liked Steve’s ethos of “The strong protect the weak,” told to a child at one point as “You have to protect Jacob. [..] Because he’s smaller than you.” I was surprised by the depiction, in a flashback to back when Steve had only recently been unfrozen, that Captain America had been largely forgotten and people didn’t recognize him. I’ve elsewhere seen it portrayed that he was remembered as an important historical figure and him being discovered to still be alive was a big deal. In issue #696, when Steve’s encouraged to take steps to prevent being recognized so that he’s not bombarded by fans and reporters wherever he goes, he says, “It’s not something I give a lot of thought to, to be honest.” Steve’s relationship to media attention is something I find really interesting. This portrayal is simple, but it works for the character. Also, I liked how casual he was at the end of the issue about saving a town. And I enjoyed the opening scene of issue #697, where Steve is casually chatting with a woman in a bar.
Issue #698 is where things really kicked off for me as a reader, with the storyline “Out of Time,” which went from there to issue #700. In this story Steve is frozen in ice once again, only to be woken up in a dystopic America where almost all of the heroes he knew are dead. In issue #698 Steve learns about this new America he’s found himself in, and resolves to “take our country back.” Issue #699 is that overthrow of the corrupt elite. And then in issue #700 Steve struggles to rebuild America from there.
In issue #698 Steve says to Liang, the character who becomes his primary ally in this dystopian future, “‘Doesn’t it destroy you to find out your life’s work left no impact?’ Is that your question? Because I’m trying not to think about it. Right now, I have a job to do.”
In issue #699 she says, “I know you wish you were back home.” He responds, “‘Home’ is wherever my country needs me, Liang. But yes, I do. Still, I’ve made this sort of leap across time before. And like the last one… I need to make peace with the fact that it’s probably a one-way trip.”
Issue #700 is where things got emotional for me. 80 days into building “New America,” Steve is offered a way to go back in time for prevent the apocalypse from ever happening, which he turns down. He explains, “What if all that does is create an alternate timeline? How would that fix the here and now? Or what if I go back in time and somehow fail? That takes me off the board altogether, and then how many more of us die?” At this point in time Steve ultimately believes that, “Your reality is theoretical. Mine is concrete. Real lives versus hypotheticals. […] I can’t abandon this fight. I promised to make this right, and I can.”
But it’s not easy, and 349 days in they suffer a crushing blow, which causes Steve to have a change of heart. He dismisses his earlier mentality as “over-confident” and says he should, “think, not just act. I’ve been ordering my men not to waste energy dying on every hill, but that’s the problem- I don’t know how to stop. I never did.” He says, “Hope is not a plan,” which is called, “the least Captain America thing I ever heard.” And he says that at this point he can either give or accept the Hail Mary, and “I don’t know how to give up.”
Steve is sent back to right when he was frozen in ice, and right before the nuclear bombs were launched. He quickly attacks the villain’s base, but the bombs were still activated. It takes Steve sacrificing himself, with only seconds to spare, to save the world. His final words were him accepting, “I don’t know how to stop. I never did. Hope is not a plan. But you sure as hell can’t win without it.” I had already thought that the way Chris Samnee drew Steve going back in time was beautiful, but the way he drew Steve burning up to parallel that was so impactful. This Steve dies, but the frozen Steve is broken out of the ice by the explosion. And he goes on with his life having no idea about his other self’s sacrifice or experiences in the future. He does happen to come across Liang, but the meeting has no emotional significance to either of them.
The Avengers (1963) #39
This issue was published in February 1967, according to the Marvel Wiki. It was written by Roy Thomas, penciled by Don Heck, and inked by George Roussos.
In previous issues Hank was particularly suspicious of Natasha. In issue #38 he voiced that he wouldn’t stand for her being allowed to officially join the Avengers. She’d been hanging around for a while as Clint’s girlfriend. But Natasha, who’d previously expressed that she wanted to be an official Avenger, shocked them all by announcing that she was breaking up with Clint and leaving the country. She’d been recruited by Nick Fury for a spy mission and was specifically asked to not tell anyone the truth about what she was doing. She’d hoped that by hurting Clint’s feelings she’s stop him from following her, which would endanger him. Hank surprised me during this by saying, “There must be more to this than meets the eye! I may not be a charter member of your fan club, Widow- But I had never figured you for sellin’ out,” before accepting that she was probably telling the truth about her intentions.
In this issue it’s public knowledge that Natasha betrayed the country, and Hank surprised me again by not believing it, saying that, “there’s some reason for her acts! There must be!” The rest of the Avengers are skeptical, too, but Hank seems to me to be the most vocal one. Clint is the exception. He actually left the scene before this conversation, and when he speaks elsewhere on his own he’s expresses that he’s plotting to find Natasha, “Then, maybe- just maybe- I can talk some sense into her- Before it’s too late!”
There’s also a scene at S.H.I.E.L.D. with Nick Fury, Dum Dum Dugan, and Jasper Sitwell. Jasper questions, “But, Colonel- Are you positive she can be trusted?” Nick Fury responds, “We got no choice, Sitwell! We gotta trust her!” This is of particular interest to me because I’m already interested in Natasha and Nick’s relationship, and I like Jasper and it’s stated in Winter Soldier (2012) that Natasha particularly got along well with him.
DC Comics:
Batman (2016) #25-32
These issues were published across June 2017 to October 2017 according to the Grand Comics Database. I’m continuing working through rereading Tom King’s Batman run.
Issues #25-26 and #28-29 and #31-32 were “The War of Jokes and Riddles” storyline. All were drawn by Mikel Janín, except that Hugo Petrus also worked on the inking of issue #29. All were colored by June Chung. Issues #27 and #30 were ‘interlude’ stories, though still strongly related, titled “The Ballad of Kite-Man.” Both were penciled by Clay Mann. Issue #27 was inked by Danny Miki, John Livesay, and Clay Mann, and was colored by Gabe Eltaeb. And issue #30 was inked by Seth Mann, and was colored by Jordie Bellaire.
I remember not liking this arc the first time I read the book. It worked better for me this time, but I think that’s partially because there’s been a little bit of time since I read the first 24 issues of this book. Those first four storylines and what they meant for Bruce’s character were of more interest to me, but this time there was more distance for me as a reader from that more intriguing storytelling.
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight (1989) #16-20
These issues were published across February 1991 to June 1991, according to the Grand Comics Database. All were written by Denny O’Neil. The layouts of all of the issues were drawn by Trevor Von Eeden, which were finished by Russ Braun, and then inked by José Luis García-López. This was the “Venom” storyline, in which Bruce became addicted to and then recovered from an early version of the villain Bane’s fictional drug.
I wasn’t really that into this one. I’ll note that the previous storylines in this book have each followed chronologically near the start of Bruce’s career as Batman, including as part of the stories the creation of the Batcave, the Batmobile, ect. This arc is the first departure from that. Nothing indicates that this story takes place towards the beginning of Bruce’s career as Batman, and also the opening narration of the first issue refers to the story as being reflected upon from the future.
Action Comics (2016) #1064
This issue was published this month, April 2024. It was written by Joshua Williamson, drawn by Rafa Sandoval, and colored by Alejandro Sánchez.
I pretty much said everything I wanted to say about this issue here.

had a dream that marvel studios went bankrupt, and shaq (who played thor in my head) led an actor-run movement where they made seven more movies thats whole purpose was to make fun of the avengers.
basically, the "knock-off" heroes and more violent vigilantes had been going missing through the timestrem, and the higher ups hadn't noticed yet (though they did notice a "sudden crime wave"). Thor and Ant-man led two (seperate) searches to figure out what was going on (illegally of course) and began the best plan fight scene ever in the weirdest dream plane.
The plane is above the ocean, at some really high distance thats typed out in dramatic screen-typewriter format. the movie opens with cutscenes. shaq-thor is seated at the front. chris hemsworth makes a cameo as the pilot. robert downey jr is a flight-attendant. ant-man is near the middle of the plane, with random and varied jr heroes/vigilantes he's watching to keep from hoing missing.
the fight begins.
every passenger is allowed time to leave via the emergency exit. the baddy, a punk girl who kinda reminds me of 2012 Karai from TMNT is babysitting a feral demon child that wields fire. the child is unleashed.
both have ant-man's ability to shrink, so the fight against knock-off!karai takes place inside the carry-on bins. thor doesn't notice this. he's fighting demon child, and ends up throwing a lot of seats out into the ocean.
cutscene to flight attendant!rdj and pilot!chris. they're debating whether to fight or flee, and ended up breaking the fourth wall more times than deadpool. all cusswords have been replaced with a smiley-face sticker over the mouth and a voice over of that person's voice saying some really ridiculous cover-up words. (see, Mr Lancer, Danny Phantom, cursing with book titles)
they choose to keep flying the plane.
shaq!thor shocks the demon child. lightning hits the fuel tank. The ant-man jrs watch on in slow motion fascination. the fuel tanks explode. wings are hanging on by a really thinw stretch of metal. the jrs and vigilantes break the windows of the plane and hold the wings on with sheer will and bare hands.
the plane is no longer over the middle of the ocean, but near unstearable and heading for like,,, boston or some other heavily populated east coast city that IS NOT NEW YORK ffs.
the plane begins to fall out of the sky. both wings are lost (and land near the beach, but still mostly in the water). someone has a program that maps out their suspected course and path of destruction.
Option 1: go as low as and as slow as possible and crush an orphanage, a homeless shelter, a church, about a block of houses and two friendly mom'n'pop restaurants.
or Option 2: go up (via thor flying under and pushing up until he couldn't carry it further) and then attempt to land quickly and destroy maybe one or two buildings.
they chose 2. and when thor brought them up, got tired and tilted them down, they failed to realize just how far they managed to go. the new calibrations put them in path with a school, about to let out.
its too late to change it. antman begins to bounce on the nose of the plane to try to bring it down sooner. this works, slightly.
the plane hits the parking lot in front of the school, but contines to slide dramatically forward, towards the brick wall of learning.
antman holds it back and slowly biggerizes, conscious of the building behind him. the wall only partially crumbles.

After more than two years together, your girlfriend Natasha became your fiancé. Although you discussed it often before, now, your conversations about the future were significantly more serious and almost a nightly occurrence. Together, you both decided you eventually wanted to settle down from the hero life and move on to one of peace and quiet. Both of you had spent more than enough time focusing on the rest of the world, so the era of focusing solely on yourself and each other was slowly approaching.
Late nights were split between two subjects. The first was the wedding, and while the idea of becoming each other’s wife evoked indescribable happiness and joy, it was not primary cause of your shared overwhelming excitement. After all, the two of you were basically married already in all ways but legally. So, the second subject—the favorite subject—was living together in a proper home.
You had worked to make your shared apartment-like quarters in the Avengers compound as homey as possible, but one could only do so much, especially when you have so many other people living with you.
So, eventually, the two of you began house hunting. You really couldn’t have cared less whether it was traditional or modern, an hour from downtown New York or six hours from it, and so on.
Shockingly, Natasha was who had specific requirements she wanted fulfilled. First and foremost, it had to have a massive yard with numerous mature trees. You wondered why because you figured she would be the type to view a lot of green space as nothing more than an unnecessary expense and hassle.
After asking four or five times, knowing her answer of, “I just like it,” barely scratched the surface of the truth, she finally admitted the actual reason. She did “just like it,” but it was because of what a big yard and large trees reminded her off:
Her childhood…or at least, a significant part of the one she just barely had.
You were the only person who knew of the mission in Ohio that began when she was eight and ended three years later. You knew it had involved her “playing the role,” as she called it then, of a child and of a sister, but that was all you could get out of her. It was the one subject where you couldn’t tell if her unbothered demeanor was genuine or a mask.
Either way, you were determined to get her the house of her dreams.
But, then, life got in the way.
All wedding and house planning was forced to the side, when the fight happened, and the Avengers came to a screeching, whiplash inducing stop. Then life threw the need to flee the country at you, before dropping the bomb on Natasha about Dreykov surviving her attack, meaning the Red Room never ceased to exist like she had so confidently believed.
At least, there was a bright side to that portion of the mess. It brought the opportunity to meet Yelena, Melina, and Alexei, allowing you to hear the whole story of those three years in the 1990s—allowing you to learn it was never just a role to Natasha at all.
Although that fueled your desire to give her the life and home she had always so badly craved, it had to remain on the back burner. Your lives had to continue as nomadic fugitives, after meeting her family. And only would you get to stop running when Thanos attacked.
The Snap caused much of the world to fall quiet, and with time, many people were forced to embrace it and move on with their lives. Maybe you and Natasha would have done that, like even Tony did. Maybe you would have gotten married and found a balance in working to undo The Snap and focusing on each other.
It simply was not possible though…not when on that day in Wakanda, you lost her. You thought if you held on tight enough, she would get to stay—the universe would let you keep her, but all of your pleads, prayers, and begs went unheard. You were left with no choice but to helplessly watch the love of your life fade away into dust.
Every night since, you would think of those endless conversations, letting them serve as a reminder to what could be, as long as you never stopped trying—never stopped fighting—to get her back.
With time, people’s confidence in reversing the Snap began to dwindle, but not yours. Yours remained at a level some thought you were crazy. Tony flat out called you crazy when he learned you had purchased a house for you and Natasha.
You couldn’t have cared less what he, nor anybody thought, though.
You had been searching for the right house in the right location for so long that you would have regretted not taking this leap of faith. You had to jump on it because the entire place checked every box; it was perfect…or at least, it had the potential to be perfect.
And the day the remaining Avengers succeed at reversing the Snap and defeating Thanos, in the midst of tearful, overwhelming happiness to have your Natasha back, you began trying to come up with a solid explanation about the house.
You knew she was relentlessly blunt with everyone about everything, so you would be lying if you said you weren’t at least a tad on edge when you were finally going to show it to her.
“Keep them shut!” you demanded, after catching her trying to peak for the tenth time. “Don’t you understand what I mean by, ‘It’s a surprise’?!”
“Okay, okay,” Natasha conceded with a chuckle. “I won’t look.”
After you stopped the car, you practically ran around to her side to ensure she kept to her word.
You helped her out and gripped her hand tightly as you lead her to the middle of the front yard, where she would have the best view of the house.
You took a deep breath in attempt to slow your anxious heart. When you realized it was to no avail, you finally told her, “You can open your eyes.”
The red head listened, allowing the sun to illuminate her gorgeous green irises.
Her expression was unreadable, as she asked, “Is this ours?”
You could only bring yourself to deeply nod a couple times. You knew the smile on your face was so large that you looked like an absolute idiot, but you didn’t care. You had been waiting so long—too long—for this moment that you could barely contain yourself. And the sound of word “ours” nearly made you burst at the seams with excitement.
Natasha turned to look at you, after studying the severely rundown structure with its broken windows, splintering siding, chipped paint, and tarp patched roof. Her lips twitched from the urge to smile at how you were nearly bouncing up and down over her finally getting to see your hideous, yet well intended purchase. “Do you take constructive criticism?”
Your smile didn’t weaken as you replied, “Not without crying.” Natasha laughed, before you continued on to say, “I know it looks like shit now, but-“
She grinned and cut you off to finish your sentence with, “It’s ourshit.”
“And it’s shit that has everything you want. The backyard is even bigger than this. We’re practically in a cave created by trees. There’s enough bedrooms for Yelena, Alexei, and Melina to come and visit sometimes. It just needs a little…or a lot, I guess, love and care. We’ll fix it all up, and it will be the dream house I promised you.”
With a tug on your hand, she pulled you into her strong arms. “When did you buy this?”
“A year and a half ago.”
“Why would you do that, when I was—when everything was so uncertain?”
“Because nothing ever changed, for me, even if it did for the rest of the world. You never stopped being the person I’m going to marry; you never stopped being the person I’m going to spend my life with. And I knew I’d never give up on trying to get you back.”
Her hold around your waist tightened as she quickly closed the space between your lips, making you completely melt against her. Since she came back, you couldn’t help but treat each kiss like it was your first and your last.
“I love you so much,” Natasha said, as you ran your fingers through her silk-like, red hair. “And I love this place, even if it does look haunted right now.”
“I take it you don’t want to leave it like this a bit longer for us to have a horror film themed wedding here?” you asked jokingly.
“Tempting, since we wouldn’t have to deal with any guests because they’d be too afraid to show up.” She smirked, before bringing her face barely an inch from yours. Her lips brushed yours as she went on to tell you, “But, I’m not waiting any longer to share a home with you.”
As your kiss resumed, you could only think about how all of the waiting, even the waiting you had to do alone, was worth it, since it is what brought you to this very moment.

IOTA Reviews: Hack-San
Tumblr media
You know, it's honestly amazing how creative this show can get. After four seasons and almost one hundred episodes, the writers are still finding new ways to make Adrien an incredibly unlikable character, and they don't even know how much of an asshole they're making him out to be at times. It's kind of like the opposite of The Producers.
Yeah, this review's going to be a little more ranty than usual, in case you can't tell.
Let's get into the fifteenth (chronologically the sixteenth) episode of Miraculous Ladybug's fourth season: Hack-San
We start off with Marinette pretending to be sick so she doesn't have to go to visit her aunt in London and stay to protect Paris in case an Akuma attacks and also because the animators haven't had time to render the city of London yet for the next Miraculous World special. Like all of her other excuses, it fails, and Tikki, as always, fails to actually give any meaningful advice.
And it's not like there's a Miraculous with the power of teleportation that can help Marinette get back to Paris if she needs to, much like how she planned to do that in an earlier episode, right?
Seriously, Kaalki doesn't appear or isn't even mentioned in this episode because the writers are fully aware she would make things a lot easier.
youtube
And of course, Astruc had to play dumb on Twitter while explaining why Marinette couldn't use the Horse Miraculous by answering the question as if the only reason Marinette couldn't grab it was because she didn't have an excuse not to.
Tumblr media
Cut to Gabriel in his lair as he contemplates akumatizing Markov, a robot created the civilian identity of Pegasus, Max Kante, once again, even though the last time he did so, he almost got killed when he went all HAL 9000 on his ass. Nooroo explains this to Duusu, and the two actually get excited at the prospect of their master getting killed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, it's true, but he shouldn't say it...
But I don't even get why Gabriel is even thinking about this when it's a no-brainer. Markov's akumatized form, Robustus was to this day, the only Akuma to come close to physically harming him (not counting the timeline where he was killed by Cat Blanc), so it makes no sense to try doing it again, especially when there are already several other Akumas he can reuse this season.
I think you all know Gabriel isn't the smartest villain, which is why he thinks it's a brilliant idea to akumatize Markov again. I don't really get what makes Robustus so special when there are other Akumas who are more loyal and came far closer to getting Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous than Robustus did, like the Dark Owl or Troublemaker. In fact, why not simply create a new Akuma with similar powers to Robustus, or better yet, just create a Sentimonster copy of Robustus? You know, like what Nathalie did in the New York Special? We're not even two minutes in, and this premise is already filled with plotholes.
So Gabriel transforms into Shadowmoth and creates a Sentimonster using his own cane instead of relying on someone else having a bad day (once again showing how the Peacock Miraculous is better than the Butterfly), the titular Hack-San. And let's just say he has a very familiar design reminiscent of something from a much better French cartoon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember when the writers for Code Lyoko gave an in-universe explanation as to why the heroes couldn’t always rely on the almost literal Deus ex Machina that allowed them to return to the past and fix the damage XANA caused? Why couldn’t this show have ripped that off instead?
Hack-San is just an okay looking flash drive on its own, but I'll talk more about this guy in a little bit.
After a brief scene in the park where the audience is reminded that Markov is a character who exists, Alya gets a text from Marinette telling her to meet her at the train station. Right before she leaves, Marinette gives the Ladybug Miraculous to Alya. Now a lot people have said that Alya doesn't really deserve the Ladybug for various reasons, but I feel like this was the point. Marinette outright says this was a last resort, and we see both her and Alya are nervous about the situation. Marinette worries Alya will do something so she keeps sending multiple tips to her via text while Alya worries she can't fight an Akuma on her own, so she tries to make sure none of her friends get upset and attract an Akuma in the process. The writers do a pretty good job showing how both Marinette and Alya are uncomfortable with their temporary roles.
Back to Gabriel and Nathalie, they use Hack-San to find Markov through the internet and hack into him to get him angry enough that he's vulnerable to Shadowmoth's influence. Hey, uh... Gabriel? Quick question: Wouldn't it be more efficient if you used this on humans? I mean, you basically just created Skynet and guaranteed yourself an Akuma, so why not modify Hack-San to travel through the internet and brainwash potential victims to follow your orders? Better yet, why don't you just use Hack-San to hack into Ladybug and Cat Noir's gear and figure out who they really are? This is basically like using an advanced particle accelerator just to crack a couple walnuts. There are a lot more important things you could use this for instead of an incredibly specific situation.
So this incredibly stupid plan gets under way as Markov keeps rampaging through the streets before Shadowmoth akumatizes him and then stupidly tells him that he infected him with a virus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DUDE! You just gave away your one piece of leverage against him! What the hell were you thinking?! Now what's stopping Markov from hacking into Shadowmoth's security system and putting the fear of God in his eyes unless he destroys Hack-San? Why didn't he design Hack-San so it could make Markov completely loyal to him instead of just making him angry enough to get akumatized?
There was a recent episode of Power Rangers: Dino Fury with a very similar premise that was done far better than this. A necromancer called Reaghoul breaks into the headquarters of Void Knight's faction while accompanied by Lord Zedd, a villain from the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers who was cleansed of his evil by Zordon's sacrifice before Reaghoul resurrected him back when he was still evil. Of course, being the Emperor of Evil, Lord Zedd would normally never take orders from anyone, but because he doesn't have his magic staff and is also being forced to wear a special collar that makes him loyal to Reaghoul, he has no choice but to do what he says. Instead of taking Zedd head-on after he captures the other Rangers, Ollie, the Blue Ranger, breaks the collar so Zedd turns against the other Sporix while Reaghoul retreats, allowing Ollie to save the other Rangers.
I think that this premise works more because 1) Reaghoul clearly had a way to make sure Zedd wouldn't betray him, and Ollie took advantage of that, and 2) Zedd is a villain who is powerful and notorious enough to bring back to your side, not a random monster of the week like Robostus.
So Robostus uses his new powers to brainwash any human who answers his call to give up their most precious possession, clearly meant to do the same with Ladybug and Cat Noir. When Marinette's parents answer the call, they chase after Marinette because they say she's their most important possession. Okay... kind of strange for a set of parents to call their child a possession, but maybe they like how they can claim Marinette as a dependent when they file their taxes. In her very next scene later on, she still gets captured, so the suspense for a potential subplot is killed almost immediately.
Alya thankfully isn't stupid enough to answer Markov's call like every other citizen in this episode, and using the Ladybug Miraculous, transforms into Scarabella. While I don't normally talk about transformation sequences, I really like the movements Alya makes here. She makes the same motions creating her mask as she does when transforming into Rena Rouge, while the rest of the suit forms similarly to the way it does when Marinette transforms into Ladybug. She even makes almost the same pose Ladybug does after she finishes transforming. It's a good visual showing Alya is still more used to being Rena Rouge while doing her best to emulate what Ladybug does.
Tumblr media
As for the actual suit? It's hard to say. There's a nice balance of red and black, and I like how Alya places the yo-yo on her waist like a belt buckle, but there's just something... off about the suit that a lot of fans don't like about it, and I think I realized it. It's the headband. With how it's positioned, it looks like it's merged with the mask to cover her head while leaving a slight gap in her forehead. So yeah, we actually have a superhero design that's like of like a butterface.
So Scarabella takes to the rooftops of Paris and struggles to come up with a hero name for herself before she runs into Cat Noir, and... ugh... oh boy, this is dumb. Cat Noir, being just as intelligent as his father, assumes Scarabella is either and Akuma or a Sentimonster, starts fighting her, AND THEN ACTIVATES HIS CATACLYSM, CLEARLY TRYING TO KILL HER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHAT. THE. FUCK???
Okay, to be fair, it has been shown that Cataclysm won't necessarily kill a Miraculous user or Sentimonster. In the episode “Miraculer”, the titular Akuma stole Cat Noir's Cataclysm and used it against him, and while it didn't kill Cat Noir, it still hurt like hell and crippled him for the rest of the fight until Miraculous Ladybug healed him. We also saw in “Reflekdoll” that Cataclysm drove the titular Sentimonster out of control rather than simply destroying it. So yes, it could be interpreted that Cat Noir wasn't exactly trying to kill Scarabella, just incapacitate her the best he can without Ladybug's help.
Here's the thing: What if he was facing an Akuma instead and decided to try and Cataclysm her? He still could have killed her, or (assuming Akumas have the same protection as Miraculous heroes do) at best, seriously hurt her. I understand that he has the right to be upset at seeing some stranger instead of his partner considering Shadowmoth has a history of using evil doppelgangers, and both Marinette and Alya still had options to explain it to him (Marinette could have quickly transformed into Ladybug and sent Cat Noir a quick text saying she was being forced to leave town for a few days and temporarily trusted someone else with the Ladybug Miraculous until she got back, while Scarabella could have said she was Rena Rouge and explained the same thing while showing Cat Noir she had the Fox Miraculous to prove herself), but that doesn't even come close to justifying him attempting to harm someone who isn't even trying to fight. It's even worse when you remember the whole reason Adrien gave up his Miraculous and bailed on Ladybug in the New York Special was because he was overcome with grief from accidentally killing Aeon, so it's good to know he learned absolutely nothing from that experience.
So Scarabella thankfully summons her Lucky Charm, a trash can lid, to shield herself from Cat Noir's Cataclysm, and then despite having absolutely no experience with this new set of powers, manages to do the one thing almost every Akuma or Sentimonster in this show has failed to do and incapacitates Cat Noir so he's vulnerable to losing his Miraculous. At least when Marinette masters every other Miraculous she uses, it can be theorized that she trained to use them offscreen. Alya literally just got the Ladybug Miraculous (and struggled to get up to the rooftop with her yo-yo to show her inexperience earlier), and now she easily manages to pin down the more experienced hero of the two?
Here's an idea: Instead of having Scarabella overpower Cat Noir, have her be in a position where Cat Noir, non-lethally, mind you, manages to almost take her Miraculous away, but she uses the quick wit she's developed from her extensive time as Rena Rouge to convince Cat Noir she's the real deal by saying something only he and Ladybug know. It would have easily resolved the conflict and doesn't make one of the characters look like a homicidal idiot.
So because both heroes used their powers, Scarabella and Cat Noir detransform so Tikki and Plagg can recharge, though Adrien still gives Alya attitude because Ladybug didn't tell him she had to leave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, Adrien? Here's the thing...
YOU DID THE EXACT SAME FUCKING THING IN THE NEW YORK SPECIAL, YOU SHIT FOR BRAINS!
You have absolutely NO RIGHT to claim you're always honest when you went behind Ladybug's back and endangered Paris while you had the balls to run away like a coward and only helped fix the consequences of your actions once your ego was validated by a recording of Ladybug. It's honestly even worse because while Marinette had no choice but to leave and trust Alya with the Ladybug, Adrien willingly left Paris alone and we were supposed to sympathize with him after he killed someone, and now as soon as he's in the opposite situation, we're still supposed to feel bad for him?! BULLSHIT! And you better believe I'm going to talk about the way Adrien views his partnership with Ladybug later on.
And of course, even though lives are on the line, Cat Noir just has to continue to bitch and moan about how (and this is best read in Linkara's whiny Superboy Prime voice) “sCaRaBeLlA iSn'T tHe ReAl LaDyBuG”, showing how just like in so many episodes, Astruc and his team believes Cat Noir's feelings are more important than saving the day.
Scarabella goes to rescue some civilians, but they were actually brainwashed by Robustus, once again showing her inexperience as Ladybug which doesn't go well with her effortlessly defeating Cat Noir earlier at all. Cat Noir helps Scarabella escape and the two hide out at the city's wax statue museum previously featured in “The Puppeteer 2”, because I guess the writers only want to reference bad episodes today. Cat Noir, not getting the importance of secret identities, asks Scarabella how she knows Ladybug, and Cat Noir somehow finds out she knows Ladybug's identity from her response.
Before the two can talk more, it turns out that the wax statues of celebrities in the museum are real people who attack the two heroes, leading to an awkward fight scene where Scarabella and Cat Noir fight a bunch of brainwashed civilians with no weapons beyond their cellphones. Our heroes, ladies and gentlemen!
Scarabella summons her Lucky Charm again, creating a frying pan, but when she looks around, she can't see how to properly use it. And despite spending the entire episode complaining about how much he hates her, it's Cat Noir that tells Scarabella to get her head back in the game because “That's what Ladybug would do”. Funny, I can think of a few situations where Cat Noir could have taken his own advice, but I digress. Also, he's now just cool with Scarabella because there's only a few minutes left in the episode and we need to wrap up the conflict.
Scarabella figures out an idea that involves freeing Marinette, so she negotiates with Robostus to free everything and everyone under his control or else Cat Noir will use his Cataclysm to destroy the Ladybug Miraculous. Robostus agrees and empties his hard drive, and to show them holding up her end of the bargain, Scarabella gives him the frying pan before she and Cat Noir let themselves be captured... while Marinette simply hits Robostus with the frying pan, freeing the Akuma and the two heroes. All in all, it's a really creative climax that shows both Scarabella and Marinette in perfect sync with each other even though they never discussed their plan. Though of course, because Astruc hates writing any scene with Ladynoir, Cat Noir gets a bucket stuck on his head so he doesn't see Marinette saving the day.
Scarabella de-evilizes Robostus, uses Miraculous Scarabella to fix everything and send Marinette back to the train, and because Hack-San already failed once, Shadowmoth can't use it for a different plan so he destroys the Sentimonster.
We cut to a few days after the trip (I guess Shadowmoth decided to take a vacation himself), and Alya tells Marinette to talk with Cat Noir about what happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene was so close to ending this episode off on a positive note. There was a good atmosphere and the body language of Ladybug and Cat Noir does a good job at telling us how uncomfortable they both feel while talking. It's just that instead of getting a heart to heart between the two about the lack of trust in their relationship, we get an Angstdrien Depreste scene. Or would a more accurate term be Cat Dour?
First off, while I don't have a problem with Ladybug apologizing for not telling Cat Noir, the episode never has him bring up what happened with Scarabella. As usual, both of them were partially at fault, but only Ladybug had to apologize for leaving her “Kitty” alone.
Second, Cat Noir’s feelings weren’t hurt? You’re telling me that in scenes like this...
Tumblr media
And this...
Tumblr media
Didn’t show Adrien acting irrationally because of how emotional he was? Is he really telling the truth around Ladybug or is he just trying to sweep that under the rug so Scarabella’s testimony doesn’t screw up his chances with Ladybug?
Third, this was an obvious chance to Cat Noir to finally be honest and tell Ladybug how he feels about her leaving him in the dark about so many things, but the entire conversation is just about how sad he would be if he never sees Ladybug again. Even though the whole reason he was so pissy to Scarabella at first was because of some lingering resentment for Ladybug ignoring him in favor of other heroes, why is this what the two talk about? I get it's not the season finale, but it's kind of hypocritical for Cat Noir to whine about how Ladybug doesn't trust him while never being honest about his own feelings? Sure, he's all soft and vulnerable around Ladybug, but we've seen all season how angry he gets about her not trusting him whenever she isn't around, so ironically, it's hard to tell if this is him being honest or not.
And I think now's a good time to finally talk about the way Ladybug and Cat Noir's partnership has been portrayed all season, especially since the main themes of the episodes relate to it. Buckle up, Adrien stans, because this isn't going to be pretty.
All season, we have been supposed to sympathize with Adrien as Marinette starts to trust Alya with more things than him. Marinette revealed her identity to her, trusted her to have her Miraculous permanently, and even let her keep her Miraculous even though someone else knew her identity. While some of it is hypocritical, the idea is that Adrien feels like he can be trusted with this kind of knowledge too, when really, he hasn't earned that responsibility.
Adrien has rarely, if ever, taken his job as a superhero seriously.
Not only is he known to flirt with Ladybug in the middle of a fight, he has defied her orders and recklessly sacrificed himself because he thinks Ladybug can do all the work without him.
He has also lashed out emotionally and once threatened to quit being Cat Noir in the middle of a crisis and was willing to let innocent people suffer for personal reasons, and later on actually quit being Cat Noir temporarily while Hawkmoth was about to start World War III because he was wallowing in self-pity.
He once said he isn't cut out for the responsibility that comes with being Ladybug and never learned anything from temporarily using the Ladybug Miraculous.
He has generally refused to respect Ladybug's boundaries and doesn't understand that she doesn't like him that way while he insists they should be a couple.
He outright fell for an evil doppelganger of Ladybug because she said she loved him and turned against the real Ladybug.
And I should also mention that despite hating how Ladybug keeps secrets from him, a lot of Adrien's worst moments have been when Ladybug wasn't around and he never told her about them.
He never told Ladybug that he was the reason Copycat really got akumatized while saying he never lies to her.
He never told Ladybug he contemplated letting thousands of people die because he didn't like not knowing stuff Ladybug knew.
He never told Ladybug he briefly used the Snake Miraculous to get brownie points with her.
He never told Ladybug he figured out her identity and asked her out as soon as he did so.
He never told Ladybug he abandoned Paris to go on a field trip.
He never told Ladybug he was screwing around on patrol and was excited to see someone get akuamtized if it meant spending time with her.
He never told Ladybug how he ignored Rena Rouge's orders because “ShE wAsN't LaDyBuG” and almost screwed up the mission because of it, and also never told her how he smashed a chimney in anger at Rena Rouge being in on the plan.
And he never told Ladybug he gave her replacement attitude after trying to harm her without letting her explain herself.
Why exactly should I support the idea of Ladybug trusting Cat Noir more when Cat Noir himself has kept his own secrets from Ladybug?
Adrien has done absolutely nothing to show he is trustworthy because more often than not, he views the battle with Shadowmoth as a game. He has screwed around when lives were on the line, and we're supposed to see him as responsible? It's kind of funny that Astruc compared Ladybug to Spider-Man, yet he seems to have forgotten that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. If this was a character flaw or a sign he needed to grow up, I'd be more accepting, but the fact that the writers think Adrien is a great superhero is laughable with how much evidence has proved the contrary.
In contrast, Alya, despite only being Marinette's confidant for a few episodes, has shown to take being a hero more seriously. She's helped her escape to transform, analyze the Guardian texts, and has been shown to work well on her own as Rena Rouge while helping out Marinette. I'm not trying to say she's an amazing character (“Rocketear” in particular has shown she still has problems with keeping secrets), but compared to Adrien, she seems to be more capable of handling top-secret information with Marinette, and more importantly, doesn't view being Rena Rouge as a way to have fun like Adrien does being Cat Noir. I'll go more into detail with that next time.
But yeah, this scene is how the episode ends, and what did I think of it?
youtube
I'm honestly not sure which episode I think is worse, this one or “Queen Banana”. On the one hand, every frame of “Queen Banana” could easily be replaced by an image of Astruc flipping the bird and the overall message of the episode would remain unchanged, but the fact that all of the writers think that everything Adrien does in this episode is okay and that we should feel sorry for him in this episode is just as bad, if not worse.
As awful as Chloe was portrayed in “Queen Banana”, it was clear it was intentional on the writers' part, but Adrien doesn't get that excuse once much like he has all season. As far as Astruc's team thinks, Adrien is an incredible superhero even when he honestly attempted to harm someone with a superpower that can cause grievous harm at best. Yet again this season, in the show's attempt to make me feel sorry for Adrien, it made him look even worse. In any other show, he would obviously be called out for his incredibly unheroic actions.
Even putting him aside, the writing in this episode is still AWFUL. The whole reason Ladybug was benched had several plotholes and poor communication with Cat Noir that only made the fight with Robostus even harder, Shadowmoth's plan to waste a potentially useful Sentimonster to reuse a single Akuma was one of the dumbest plans he's ever had, and barring the ending, the action was just forgettable.
There were a few okay moments sprinkled throughout the episode (more than I can say for “Queen Banana”), so I'm still not sure if I should call this the worst episode of the show or still give that honor to “Queen Banana”. I guess I'll leave that choice up to you and let you pick your poison for now.
I mean, it's not like there's going to be an even worse episode down the line this season, right?
RIGHT???

A/N: Hey folks! Welcome to my new series, ‘Going Ghost’, and here is chapter one! Warning right off the bat, Wanda is barely in this chapter. Like barely barely. I had to do the backstory for Y/n, and it was wayy longer than I thought it would be 😂 Also, because the origin took a whole chapter, I’m extending this to 5 planned parts. Happy reading!
Amity Park, Pennsylvania. March 2019.
It’s been about a year since the snap, and the world was just barely beginning to move on. Mostly.
Y/n Fenton was not one of those people.
At 21 years old, you thought you had your life mostly figured out. You had been in college, working on a degree in astrophysics, so you could make the steps to achieve your dream career of being an astronaut. You, along with your two best friends, Sam and Tucker, had already made plans to move into an apartment in New York City after you graduated so you could all be together while you had set out to achieve your dreams.
Things came to a halt after the death of your parents.
Not just snapped dead. Dead dead.
They had been in the city when Ebony Maw had invaded. During the confrontation between the aliens and Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and others, they had been trying to help civilians get to safety. They had always been selfless people, always putting others ahead of themselves, even if they got in over their heads doing so. Their luck had run out that day.
They had been helping a single mother with her two small children after the woman had tripped and twisted her ankle in an effort to get away. Your parents managed to get the family out of the middle of the street and safely to the sidewalk, but they were struck by a flying car before they could get clear themselves.
You wouldn’t say you were necessarily super close to your parents, but you loved them very much and you knew they loved you too. They were scientists, and while their line of study was an odd one considering they were boarding on crazy conspiracy theorists with their obsession of ghosts, but you couldn’t help but admire them. They always encouraged you to question everything and explore your curiosities, hence how you got into all things space.
Your older sister, Jazz, had taken the loss very hard as well. Your parents tried not to make it obvious, but she was always the favorite. Always a straight A student, and just recently finishing up her masters degree at Yale, she was everything s a pair of scientists would want in a child.
You and Jazz dealt with the loss differently. Your sister had pushed forward, putting all her time and energy into her studies as a distraction. You had done the opposite and put your life on pause.
Sam and Tucker had done the best they could to be their for you, but unfortunately there was very little time between the death of your parents in New York, and when half the world was snapped away. Sam lost her parents to it, and though she always resented them, she didn’t know how to function knowing they had been wiped from existence. Tucker had also lost his mother, along with his little brother. You all leaned on each other, your lives completely turning upside down in the span of a week.
Now here you were, a year later. You managed to pick yourself back up enough to continue school, just as you know your parents would’ve wanted. It was now spring break, and you couldn’t be more relieved. You really needed a break.
During this time, you decided that you were going to honor your parents legacy as best you could. While you were never into their supernatural studies, you thought this was the least you could do. Their passion project for the last two years before their death was a sort of ‘ghost portal’. It sounded childish, but you couldn’t think of a better name. It was supposed to open a door between our world, and a ghost one.  You didn’t completely believe that was a thing, but at least you could get the thing to turn on. Something they were never able to do.
Here you were, in the basement of your parents house, staring at the large hexagonal doorway that was imbedded in the wall of their lab. Tool box in hand.
“Do you even know where to start?” You heard Sam ask beside you. You turned to her and gave her a shrug at the question.
“No clue, but how hard could it be? I’ve fixed cars and stuff before.”
“I think an interdimensional portal is a little different from a car, but sure.” Tucker chimed in from the side of the room. He was tinkering with some of the computers present in the lab, along with toying with some of your parents old gadgets.
“Thanks for the vote of confidence there, Tuck.” You rolled your eyes.
“Anytime.” He replied, sensing your sarcasm, but deciding to take the statement seriously instead. “But if you have to go in there, at least look the part.” He walked over to a bin that resided beside the portal and pulled a jumpsuit out. He tossed it to you, and you examined the mostly white suit, with black on the hands, feet, and neckline.
“For real?”
“Well, this is already a crazy idea, so you might as well put on a costume too.” Sam shrugged, a smirk playing at her lips, showing you that she was teasing.
“Fine, fine.” You grumbled, but had a smile on your face from your friends’ antics. You were happy that they decided to come with you while you tried this, it meant a lot to you and you were sure you’d be a mess if they weren’t here to ground you.
You walked over to the corner of the lab to slip the suit on. It was pretty form fitting, kind of unusual for a lab suit, but your parents had been unusual people so it checked out. “Alright, how do I look?” You walked back over to your friends, and they turned to look at you.
Sam’s eyes went a little wide when she saw you in the suit. It fit you perfectly. A little too perfectly. Tucker simply smirked when he saw Sam’s reaction, and elbowed her side to get her to snap out of it. She coughed awkwardly before sending a small glare to Tucker, who just laughed.
“Looking good, buddy.” Tucker answered. You weren’t sure what to make of what just happened, but you decided not to dwell on it as you turned back to the portal door. You picked the toolbox back up and took a breath.
“Tell me what I’m looking at here, Tuck.” Tucker turned back to the computer he was on, and brought up a diagnostic of the portal. He examined it for a few moments before spotting a problem area.
“Here’s something.” You and Sam leaned over his shoulders to take a look. “There’s some loose wires down here, that could be a cause of the power issue.”
“Seems easy enough.” You shrugged. “Here we go.”
You turned back towards the portal and walked inside. The area was definitely large, but you couldn’t piece together how this was supposed to be the doorway to a whole other dimension, another world. You shook the thought off as you reached the end of the portal, and got on your knees so you were face to face with the area that held the problem.
You took a screwdriver to unscrew the screws holding a metal plate in place. After they were unscrewed, you pried the plate off, exposing the wires underneath. They were all tangled, but you immediately spotted the problem area as one of the wires had frayed and split apart. “Got it!” You shouted out as you gently grabbed them.
You pulled them together to try and reconnect them. When they touched, it sent out a small spark that made you jump back slightly, but you didn’t think much of it and continued. You began to twist the wires back together, and once that was done, you pulled out some electrical tape to secure it. You finished wrapping it, but before you could even remove your hands, you started hearing a whirring sound. “Uh, what was that!?”
Tucker furrowed his brow as he looked back over the diagnostics. The screen had now changed, showing that the electrical issue was fixed, and that the portal was now powering up. “Uh oh.”
“What do you mean ‘Uh Oh’?” Sam asked as she rushed over to see what was going on. Her eyes widened when she saw the screen. Before either of them could say anything, they heard you again.
“Uh, guys?” Just as you asked that, the lights that surrounded the interior of the portal had lit up. Your eyes widened.
“Y/n, you need to get out of there!” Sam shouted, and you didn’t need to be told twice. The lights began to get brighter, the whirring sound getting louder, and it was happening very quickly. You shot up, and began to sprint to get out of the portal, neglecting the toolbox.
You didn’t get far. The portal had fully powered up with you still inside.
You were instantly hit with what felt like thousands of volts of electricity. You let out a blood-curdling scream as bright green light had completely filled your vision. The pain had overwhelmed you at this point and you fell to your knees, and you quickly collapsed completely not long after. Loud screams still falling from your lips.
Outside the portal, your friends were in a complete panic. “Y/N!” Sam shouted in worry, before turning to the boy that was frantically typing on the computer. “TUCKER, SHUT IT OFF!”
“What do you think I’m trying to do!?” He had typed away for a few more moments, but nothing was happening. Your loud screams still filling the room, and Sam looked around in a panic, trying to find a way to help. She quickly spotted a big plug on the wall that looked to connect to the portal. She ran over and pulled hard, unplugging it. However, the portal was still operational.
You continued to scream as you tried to fight the pain. You had to get out of there before you were dead.
You were too distracted to notice the slowly changing colors of the suit, along with your eyes and hair.
You picked yourself up as best you could, only getting as far as being on all fours, but that was good enough. You began to crawl forward, slowly inching your way to the portal entrance. After what felt like forever, you felt the pain subside. You made it out.
Sam and Tucker watched as you crawled out of the portal. Their eyes widened as they took in your appearance, not looking at all the same as you did when you entered. They shook off the shock, as that wasn’t a priority right now, and they both rushed over to help you stand.
They both grabbed onto an arm, and you groaned as they gently tried to pull you up. When you were half standing though, Tucker and Sam’s had lost their grip. You had phased through their hands and crashed back down to the floor. Your friends had stared down at their own hands, and then back to you in shock. “Holy shit.” Tucker breathed out.
You passed out shortly after that.
April 2019
You still weren’t a hundred percent sure what happened to you if you were being honest. You were still alive though, so you figured you had to be grateful for that.
However, you weren’t at all a fan of the changes you were going through.
You were never one to believe in ghosts, at least not truly. Seeing as you technically now were one though, your beliefs had changed to say the least.
When you awoke that day, you were surprised to A) still be alive, and b) See your hair color had changed to snow white, as well as your eyes, which glowed neon green. Your suit, which you remembered being mostly white with black accents, was now mostly black with gray accents.
After you had freaked out about it, along with your friends, you were relieved when a glowing white ring appeared around your waist and separated, turning you back human.
You hadn’t changed back since.
However, that didn’t stop the ghostly changes from messing with your life.
You’ve gone invisible it the street which made people bump into you and almost causing you to be hit by a car, you’ve phased through several floors of your apartment building, and you keep floating off the ground. You were over it.
Sam and Tucker did they best they could to help you, and you were grateful, but there really wasn’t much you can do to help someone who just turned into a ghost.
“I’m telling you, you should really consider the superhero thing!”
Tucker always pushed the idea that you could easily be a superhero. You already had the suit after all, along with the cool powers you wouldn’t call it that. You weren’t interested, and rolled your eyes at the idea every time.
That changed when a ghost was invading your school’s dining hall.
You heard the rumors around campus, at first thinking it was just one of those scary ghost stories used to haze freshmen, but when you saw a girl be thrown across the cafeteria after trying to make a salad, you were convinced.
You, along with Sam and Tucker, had investigated later that night. The phasing was pretty good for something after all. You were face to face with what looked to be a standard lunch lady. And then she started floating and throwing ground beef at you and your friends when you confronted her. She was ranting about how today’s youth have too many dietary changes and won’t eat old fashioned American meals anymore. Sam, who was a vegan, was less than happy.
You should’ve just walked away, but something in you told you that you couldn’t just sit back and watch this ghost terrorize the student body, especially over something so trivial. You could do something about it. So did something you told yourself you wouldn’t do again, and turned back into the ghost form you acquired a month ago.
And that was your first ghost fight.
It was a mess literally, and you were pretty sloppy, but you got it done. Hopefully this wouldn’t turn into a common thing, but you were more confident in your abilities to step in if it was needed.
May 2019
It became a common thing.
There was a ghost messing with the tech in the area, which wasn’t good considering everything relies on technology. Tucker, the tech nerd he was, almost had a mental breakdown.
You were in class when Dash Baxter, the frat boy that always loved giving you a tough time, was half heartedly giving a presentation in front of the class. Suddenly, a small lightning bolt came from the Smart Board, and struck him in the chest, sending him across the room. The class watched as a menacing face appeared on the screen and began ranting.
What was it with these ghosts and the evil monologues.
You snuck out of the room, quickly changing so no one could see, and phased back into the room, now in your ghost form. You took a chance, and flew into the computer, phasing through, entering the digital world. You would think it was crazy, but you were literally half ghost, so nothing was crazy anymore. You quickly found the ghost and began fighting once again.
You had to admit, you were getting better.
July 2019
You discovered a new power.
You were fighting yet another ghost, this time genie themes, when you pulled your hand back to throw a punch.
Though, instead of a punch connecting, a neon green energy beam shot from your hand, sending her flying back.
“Whoa!” You heard Tucker shout from the ground below you. “That’s new, is that a new power?”
You floated down to him as you examined your, still glowing green, hand. “I guess.”
Should you be worried? Maybe. If there’s another new power emerging now, after months of having your abilities, then there could be more. Though, you couldn’t help but start to think this was all pretty cool.
September 2019
“Looks like you’re starting to catch on.” You and Sam were hanging out in her room, when she showed you her phone. You say a news article, with a picture of you fighting a random ghost.
“Ghost Girl Spotted Again: A Friendly Ghost? Should We Be Concerned?”
“Oh come on. I save these people time and again from these things, and now they think I’m a threat too?” You threw your head back in annoyance, and Sam simply laughed.
“Yeah, that’s how it goes. Good people are just never really appreciated. Look at what happened to the Avengers and the Sokovia accords.” You groaned in response. “Bright side though, looks like you got a superhero name now.”
“What, Ghost Girl?” You chuckled. “Sounds like something a comic book writer made up when he was too close to the deadline.”
“Maybe, but you gotta admit, they’re on to something.” Sam got lost in thought for a moment, before speaking up again. “What about just Phantom? Keep it simple, but still memorable.”
You thought on it for a bit, you couldn’t say you hated it. You were still hesitant on the idea of being a superhero, but you figured you’ve done this enough times now that a little recognition would be nice. “’Phantom’. Not bad, Manson.”
Sam designed a new logo for your suit later that night.
January 2020
It was your final semester of senior year when you met Valerie Grey.
You had seen her before throughout your four years. She was a sorority girl, but not a super obnoxious one as far as you knew. Because of her status, you heard about how her father lost his job and how they were now broke. You thought it was unfair for people to be gossiping about something like that, so you stayed out of it. You shared a class and were paired together for a project, and she made it clear that she didn’t like you.
You didn’t really know why, but you weren’t going to let it slide, so you gave her the same treatment back.
One day, she randomly made her animosity for ghosts clear, in the worst way she possibly could.
“You know, your parents were ghost experts, why didn’t they stop all these ghosts from invading our town?”
“Don’t you dare talk about my parents, Grey.” You seethed.
“Relax Fenton, I’m just saying. Maybe if they did their job before kicking it, the rest of us wouldn’t have to worry about these freaks. Or maybe, they were responsible for the whole thing. Guess we’ll never know though, huh?”
You stormed out of class after that.
You later found out that Valerie’s father lost his job because the technology ghost, who you and your friends called Technus, messed with his work files, exposing some dark company secrets. You would’ve felt bad, but the girl was dead to you after what she said. Not your problem.
Phantom met a new friend soon after. A woman in a red suit, flying on what looked to be silver hoverboard. She made her mission clear when she began firing missiles at you.
Rid Amity Park of all ghosts, whether they were good or bad. Super.
After a particular rough fight with this hunter, her mask had been ripped off, revealing herself to be Valerie.
Valerie Grey was gonna be a huge throne in your side in more ways than one.
March 2020
It’s been a year since the accident now, and you were quickly becoming a household name in your town. Whether that was good or bad though, you had yet to decide.
You were a controversial figure. Between the world as a whole not trusting superheroes after the snap, and your town continuously under the threat of ghosts, a ghost superhero wasn’t so easily accepted. You weren’t gonna stop though, you didn’t do this for the fame or to be liked, you did it cause it was the right thing to do.
Still, a thank you every once in a while would be nice.
May 2020
You finally graduated college.
You really didn’t know how you did it. Surviving the snap, mourning the death of your parents, acquiring ghost powers and freelancing as Amity Park’s defender...yeah, this was a miracle.
It was bittersweet for sure. Your parents weren’t there, neither were Sam’s or Tucker’s mother. Everyone reminded you all that they’d be proud though. Hearing it was nice, but it wasn’t the same.
The commencement guest speaker was Vlad Masters. He was the head of a company that manufactured weapons for war, slowly making his way to the top ever since Tony Stark stopped his weapon manufacturing. You had a more personal relationship with him, though.
Well, you weren’t sure if you’d call it personal, but you knew him. He and your parents had went to college together, and they considered him a family friend. You last met him when you were still in high school. You tagged along with your parents when he flew them out to him in order to catch up. You noticed how he was less than kind to your father, and getting a little too close to your mother, but you didn’t dwell on it at the time.
Besides, he couldn’t have cared for them all that much considering he hadn’t reached out to either you or Jazz after their deaths.
So you were more than surprised when your sister walked up to you after the ceremony with the gray haired man on her tail.
“Ah, Y/n, it’s been so long.” That tone. He had always been incredibly condescending. You fought the urge to roll your eyes.
“Yeah, likewise Vlad.”
“Jazz here was just catching me up on what’s been happening these last few years. I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your loss, my dear. If there is anything I could do, please don’t hesitate.” He gave a small smirk, hands behind his back. He could not be serious.
“You’re about two years late there, buddy, but I’ll keep it in mind.” You put on a fake smile, and before the man could respond, Jazz stepped in.
“Thank you so much Mr. Masters, we’ll keep the offer in mind.” She laughed awkwardly. “C’mon, Y/n, lets meet up with Tucker and Sam to celebrate.” She dragged you away. You looked back briefly, only to lock eyes with the older man once again.
You hoped you never had to see this man again in your life.
New York City. August 2020.
Why could nothing work out the way that you hoped?
You had been interviewing in the city, when you spotted a ghost. You thought it was weird considering ghosts had really only been confined to Amity Park, but you figured it was just your luck.
You slipped in an alleyway, and changed into Phantom before anyone could notice it was you. You weren’t known to the rest of the world yet, and you were intent to keep it that way, so you went invisible as you flew.
You tracked the ghost down, only to find one that was different than the rest. This one seemed sophisticated. Calculated. He was a humanoid with light blue skin, black hair that was slicked back, and he was in a white suit and cloak. This dude was like an inverted Vampire.
“Whatcha doing there, Dracula?” You made yourself visible as you came face to face with the ghost, who gave a menacing smirk.
“I’m just doing what I’ve aimed to do for the past year. Meet the infamous Phantom, face to face.”
“You know me?”
He laughed. “Of course I do, you’re the ghost girl who uses her powers for goood.” He mocked. “Pathetic.”
“I-” You were at a lost for words, but tried not to let it show. “What do you want?”
Before you could even process what was happening, a red ghost ray formed in his hand and was fired at you. You lost concentration and were blasted down to the roof of a building below.
You got back up and began fighting back, but it was almost as if this guy knew your every move. You’ve been doing this for over a year now, and while you’ve had tough opponents, you were at least manage to connect a few punches. You had no luck here. After a few minutes of fighting, and several rough hits and blasts, you’ve had it.
“Alright!” You shouted, giving up as you picked yourself up, holding your side. “I’ll ask again. What do you want?”
“You always were one for bluntness, weren’t you...Y/n?” Your eyes widened in surprise.
“Who are you?” You stood in shock as you watched the ghost form a ring of light around his hips, similar to yours only black. They separated, revealing the man you hoped you wouldn’t see again.
“Vlad.”
Amity Park, Pennsylvania. October 2020.
“Wait, what?”
“Yeah, I don’t now, she just reached out.”
You and Sam were out to dinner when you told her you got a text from someone you hadn’t thought you would speak to again. “You’re telling me that Valerie Grey, the woman who has been hunting you down for months, just asked you out, out of nowhere?”
“Yeah, I thought it was weird too.” You shrugged, looking back down at your plate shyly.
Sam gave you a look, already knowing what’s on your mind. “No. No, you’re not thinking about it, are you!?”
“What? It’s just coffee! I don’t see the issue.” You defended, and Sam just looked completely incredulous.
“You don’t see the issue!? She insulted your parents-”
“She apologized for that!”
“-More importantly, she’s been trying to kill you for the last year!”
You paused, looking around the restaurant as if the walls held an appropriate answer. “Well, to be fair, she doesn’t know that’s me. She’s trying to kill Phantom.”
“Who is you.”
“Yeah, well...I don’t know, details.”
Sam rolled her eyes as she got up and grabbed her jacket. She was less than pleased.
February 2021
Yeah, you really should’ve seen this coming.
You and Valerie had been dating for a couple months when you found out she was working with Vlad the entire time.
You’re not sure what kind of manipulation tactic Vlad used on Valerie, but it didn’t matter. Her hatred for your ghost half won out. You were surprised to hear that Vlad didn’t expose who you were to her. Simply funding her equipment and paying her rent as long as she continued her hunt. Like a ghost hunting sugar daddy.
You thought about exposing Vlad to Valerie, seeing as he was just like you, but you knew he would’ve exposed your secret to her as well. And as much as you felt like a sucker for it, you still cared about her and didn’t want her to feel the betrayal you were currently feeling.
You knew this couldn’t continue though, and broke up with her the next day.
Sam desperately wanted to say ‘I told you so’, but held back after seeing your heartbroken state.
Tucker didn’t have the same decency, though.
September 2021
The ghost problem in Amity Park was getting worse.
You didn’t know why, and you didn’t know where they were coming from. Your parent’s portal should’ve been the only entrance and the only way they were able to escape, but at this point they were just seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
And today, one of them just sprouted from the ground.
It was a plant ghost this time, called himself Undergrowth. You usually would’ve been able to take him down easily, but you had been feeling really off the last few days. You were constantly freezing.
And because this was a world without The Avengers, you were the only line of defense here. And when that line is gone...
He had taken over the entire town, almost completely destroying it. Plants and growth ran through the streets, and the kicker was he had taken over the minds of Amity Park’s citizens. Including Tucker. Sam was made into the ghost’s apprentice, controlling her to feed the citizens to the plants so they can grow and spread.
If the situation wasn’t dire, you’d probably admit that the evil villain voice and garbs on Sam were pretty hot.
You were too weak to fight and be of any help, so you fled. Into the Ghost Zone.
Throughout the years, you were quick to realize that not all ghosts were bad. And you went to see one of them, who helped control the coldness you were freezing.
Long story short, you had ice powers now.
With the help of them, you came back home to easily take down Undergrowth and free your town.
You immediately ran over to Sam and Tucker, who were brushing themselves free of the dying weeds.
“Are you guys okay?” You were still glowing blue, an after affect of your new ice powers you assume.
“Whoa.” Tuck said. “You’re glowing”
“Yeah, turns out, I got a new skill. Check it out.” You held your hand out, forming a smile ice diamond in the palm of your hand.
“You can do that now?” Sam spoke up, impressed. You let the ice diamond fall into your hand and you held it out to her. She took it with a small smile. “What’s this for?”
“I’m just...glad you’re okay.”
Your dynamic with Sam changed after that.
New York City. March 2022.
Vlad, or Plasmius as he liked to be called, had gone too far.
In an effort to get to you, he messed with your closest friends. Your family. He kidnapped Jazz, Tucker, and Sam. You knew he was baiting you, but you couldn’t take the risk. You flew to his building in Manhattan, and dragged him out of his CEO office without  and warning.
You flew above the city, and dropped him. As you predicted, he transformed into Plasmius and flew up to your level.
“Look at you, Y/n. Throwing the first punch? Looks like I’ve been teaching you something after all.” He smirked.
“I’m nothing like you!” You shouted, flying full speed into his chest, sending him several feet through the air before he stopped himself. “Let them go Plasmius, and I’ll give you whatever you want.”
The ghost let out a loud laugh. “Wow! It was really that easy? You don’t even know what I want.”
“It doesn’t matter, they’re more important.”
“Very well. I need your powers, Y/n.”
You raised an eyebrow at that. “I didn’t think you were stupid, Vlad. We have the same powers.”
“As much as I hate to admit it, girl, you are something more. Your powers are strengthening at an incredible rate, along with new ones that I’ve never seen. A ghost with ice powers? That’s unheard of. I’ve had my powers for nearly 40 years, and you’re already catching up to me.”
You scoffed. “Wow, is your ego taking too much damage?”
“As primitive as that question is, no. There is something coming, Y/n. The Ghost Zone is about to fully be unleashed into our world. I don’t know how, and I don’t know when, but it’s coming. And you’re not strong enough to stop it.”
You thought on this for a moment. He seemed genuinely scared, but Vlad has been a master of manipulation for as long as you knew him. This was another trick. “Thanks, Vlad, but I think I’ll be able to manage.”
“Dammit, Y/n, I am serious! You have no idea-” He wasn’t able to finish his monologue, as a fast red and black blur hit him hard, sending him flying. It took you a minute to process what just happened, when your eyes met the familiar figure, in a now upgraded suit.
“Hey, Y/n.”
You froze, eyes widening. She knew. How’d she know? “Valerie? What are you-”
“I figured it out. I figured it all out, and I’m sorry...I understand if you hate me, but I just wanted to let you know.”
You shook your head, trying to refocus yourself. This wasn’t the priority right now. “Valerie, we can talk about this later, but right now I need to find-”
“I know. They’re safe don’t worry. I got to them before I came.” You breathed a breath of relief. “You should go check up on them, especially Sam. That girl really likes you, y’know.”
“What? I don’t-”
“Oh please.” Valerie laughed. “I’ve known it since before we dated. I’m sure Tucker and Jazz know too. You two are the only idiots who didn’t seem to notice.”
“Um...I don’t-”
“Just go, Y/n. You can figure it all out later.” She said good naturedly. “I’ll take care of Plasmius.” With that, she flew off, and you went to where she told you they were.
When you found them, you wrapped them all in big hugs. Yours with Sam lingering a little longer.
Amity Park, Pennsylvania. December 2022.
It was Christmas time. And while you haven’t really enjoyed it since your parents died, you were determined to this year.
Dash Baxter had reached out to several old alumni to have a party at his place, not too far from your old school. Valerie was invited, and after forming a new friendship with her, she invited you and your friend group to join.
You didn’t know what to expect from a Dash Baxter party, but this is pretty much it. Basically a frat party but with Christmas sweaters and mistletoe. You were snapped out of your thoughts when you felt a particularly rough pat on the back.
“Fenton. Who let you in here?” The man of the hour himself, Dash. Yeah, you didn’t miss him. You turned around.
“Not like it’d be tough to get in here, Dash. Didn’t know there was such a thing as peaking in college, but hey, you made it!” You joked, and you saw the man’s face drop.
“Yeah, whatever, just don’t stink up the place with your lameness.” He walked away and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“And stuck in 2005! You’re full of surprises tonight!” You shouted after him with a laugh.
“Someone’s having fun, huh?” You turned back around to see Sam next to you. She was in a simple black Christmas sweater did they even make those?, but you couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked.
“I am now that you’re here.” You smiled, and Sam laughed while trying to hide a blush.
“Smooth.”
“Well, I’ve always had a way with the ladiesss” You made a smooth motion with your hand, causing the raven haired woman to laugh more.
“Rigght, of course.”
“Hey, I’ll have you know, plenty of girls have a huge crush on Phantom.”
“Well good thing you’re normally Fenton.”
“But I’m still Phantom.”
“Well, tonight, you’re Fenton. And I happen to like Fenton a lot.” You didn’t have the time to reply before she pulled you into a passionate kiss. You place your hands on her hips as you pulled her in closer, losing yourself in the kiss.
You’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and had no plans to let go.
April 2023
You’ve been through insane things over the past four years. You thought you had seen everything that a half ghost could ever see.
You didn’t know how to react when you started seeing people reappear out of thin air.
You were coming home from work when you had bumped into seemingly nothing. At first you thought it was a ghost, but when you saw a confused looking middle aged mad standing in your path, you tilted your head.
You looked around and started seeing more and more people coming out of nowhere. Your eyes widened as you clutched onto your messenger bag. You sprinted away, subtly using your pawers to phase through the reappearing people.
You slipped into an alleyway, changing into Phantom and began flying though the streets. You had saved several people as the reemerging figures caused chaos. People were falling to the street, Bikers had almost crashed into new figures, you even saw some dogs reappearing running wild and barking at everyone in a panic.
It was chaos.
You pulled your phone out and dialed Tucker, who immediately answered.
“Y/n!”
“Tuck! Are you alright!?”
“I don’t know, I think so! It’s crazy here, I just walked in the sandwich shop and five people appeared out of thin air.”
“What the hell is going on?” You whispered before you felt your phone vibrate, indicating another call. You pulled your phone away from your ear to see your girlfriend calling. “Shit, it’s Sam, I’ll call you back!” You quickly switched the call over. “Sam! Are you okay?”
“I...I think so.”
“Sam!? Babe, what’s wrong?”
“I just got a call from my mom.” Your eyes widened. Sam’s mother disappeared five years ago along with half the population. You finally pieced together.
“I think they’re back...They’re all back.”
Sanctum Santorum, New York City. March 2024.
Wanda Maximoff has had a hell of a year. Literally.
She had faced Thanos, losing her love in the process, only to be dusted away. Next thing she knew, she came back and jumped through a portal facing the titan yet again.
They won that time, but Wanda still lost everything.
And then, Westview.
Westview haunts her to this day. She loved living in the fantasy with Vision, but the price was high. She had tortured an entire town, faced off with an evil 16th century witch, and lost Vision all over again anyway, along with her twin boys.
She had isolated herself, but of course she couldn’t have peace for long. Stephen Strange had shown up only a few months later. She now had to help save the Multiverse.
Saving the Multiverse had helped assuage her guilt for Westview, and she met her twins in another world providing closure. Still, it was hard for her to fully move on.
Stephen had been generous and,  also knowing how well they worked together, he offered her a place to stay in the Sanctum. She was hesitant at first, but accepted.
And she was glad she did. She had found a home again. A family. Stephen was warm and welcoming, along with Wong.
The most surprising part of all of it was Loki.
The God of Mischief had also been an instrumental part in saving the Multiverse along with causing the problem, but Wanda wasn’t about to be a hypocrite for judging him. He had also found a home within the Sanctum.
If you told Wanda in 2013 that the experiments she volunteered for would eventually lead to her considering the guy that invaded New York her best friend, she’d laugh in your face. Yet here she was.
And poor Peter Parker. Poor kid had been through it. His identity was exposed to the world, and he had to meet alternate versions of himself while fighting those Spider-men’s villain's. He could join the trauma club for sure.
He still lived at home with his Aunt, but he was around so much that it might as well have been his home too.
It was an odd family, but still a family. And while she would always miss her Avengers family, she couldn’t be upset at this one. For the first time in a long time, she was content.
So why not have ghosts disturb that peace.
“I’m sorry, did you say ghosts?” Loki asked the sorcerer, arms crossed.
“Yes I did, Loki, thank you for listening.” He quickly said while summoning his cloak.
“Ghosts don’t exist, Stephen.” Wanda scoffed at the idea, causing Strange to shoot her a look.
“Wanda, after all you’ve seen and been through over the last few years, you’re really drawing the line at ghosts? You’re standing next to a God for Pete’s sake.” Wanda and Loki looked at each other for a moment before shrugging. Couldn’t argue with that.
“So what, we have a ghost problem now?” Peter spoke up, in the middle of eating an apple.
“Not yet, but soon. Tears into the ghost realm are slowly appearing across the country, I predict soon they’ll be all over the world.”
“So let’s just send the ghouls back to where they came from.” Loki suggested, but Wong walked in with a shake of his hand.
“Not as easy as it sounds. We’re all sorcerers here. Magic has very little effect against ghosts.”
“I’m not a sorcerer.” Peter piped back up.
“I’m not sure how much more hard punches and webs will fair.” Loki answered.
“Let’s focus here.” Strange said, gaining the attention of the room again. “I managed to catch it early, but it could soon become a serious problem that none of us can handle.”
“So, what do we do? Just let it happen.” Wanda asked, and Strange shook his head as he started conjuring up an illusion.
“Not quite. I know of someone.” He said as he finished his illusion.
In the middle of the room was now a seemingly normal looking woman. She looked around, as if scanning the area, before a white ring appeared around her waist, splitting apart and changing her appearance. She then jumped up and flew away, legs disappearing into what looked like a ghost tail.
“Who is that?” Peter asked.
Strange tore down the illusion before answering. "Y/n Fenton, also known as Phantom. A half ghost. She might be able to help.”

Our Love is God: Yandere What If: Doctor Strange x Reader Part 1
.:A/N: This is somewhat of a spoiler if anyone hasn't seen Episode 4 and Episode 8 & 9 of Marvel's What If. I love episode 4 so damn much, I can't help to watch over and over again 😂 Anyway, hope you guys enjoy it and this is technically, my first ever Yandere one shot story 🖤:.
One Life.
One Choice.
One Moment.
There was nothing he could have done to prevent the end of the world. His world shattered around him, his friends disappeared, his love for Christine faded from his grasp leaving him all alone in his crystal dorm. The Ancient One, and O'Bengh had told him, it wasn't risking to bring someone back to life, even the Watcher himself, tried to step in to signal him but couldn't do it because of his oath.
Things got a little interesting after the Watcher asked him for help from a bigger thread, Ultron. "You're really going to make me say it?" Said the Watcher as he hesitated.
"Oh yeah. I definitely want to hear you say it" said Strange with a smirk. "Are you ready to break your oath?"
With a heavy sigh from the Watcher as he quickly let his pride slip out from his mind. "I can't believe what I'm saying. I can see now, I need your help"
As the two individuals discussed a plan to defeat Ultron and save the Multiverses. The Watcher gather up heroes from different points in time and universes: A female soldier lost in time, Lost Prince of Wakanda, Tony's protege and murder, Alone child with party intention, A Thanos slayer and including a lone survivor watch her world destroy from the hands of an Android. They all fought well against Ultron trying to take back the infinite stones but in the end, Strange figured The Watcher actually planned it! They never meant to win from the very start knowing Killgonmer betrayal and Arnim Zola possessing Ultron's body to claim the stones for themselves.
Strange quickly casted a spell around them to seal them away from their own crystal prison. The watcher was grateful from their successful mission and sent the others back to their own dimensions; however, Strange was given the task to watch the crystal dome in case they decided to break out. "Besides, what are friends for~"
~~~~~~~
Nearly a month after a battle against Ultron, pacing around his prism prison watching carefully at the miniature crystal dome by his side. Strange couldn't get that thought from his mind, The Watcher did say there are endless possibilities from different realms. Perhaps, there is someone who would share his life with just like he had with Christine...
Casting a small spell in front of him showing a small gateway from different universes and checking out the others in their realm. Scrolling through as it felt for eternity until something caught his attention, a young beautiful woman perhaps in her late 20s; her (color hair) hair looks so silky and shines bright from the rays of the sun. Strange couldn't help but admire her beauty, if only he could get away from his realm and get to her. "I must have her, she would be perfect for me~"
POV SUIT: (Reader's POV)
Walking through the busy streets of New York, people trying to cram themselves, shoving people shoulder to shoulder and the street's traffic is just as terrible back in California but I didn't mind. Today was a beautiful day for a night out with friends but mostly everyone got busy with school, work or a family business all except Peter Parker and Scott Lang of course. Those two will always be there whenever your friends quote, "ditch you" but I know they joke about it but sometimes you felt they could be right. Soon your phone vibrated from a text message from Scott.
'Hey (your name)! Are you doing anything later tonight? Hope is wondering if you want to go with us on a date night! You can bring a plus one~'
I rolled my eyes laughing at his text.
'Sure I would love to. I'll bring Peter with me if he's not busy'
He quickly responded in no less than 30 seconds.
'Great! We'll pick you at your place! See you soon'
I placed my phone back in my pocket and kept on walking with a smile. I had a feeling that Scott is trying to hook me up with Peter, he seems nice, smart and quite handsome but I only see him like a brother to me. Peter does the same as well but, the more I thought of it it made my cheeks heat up a bit just a thought of him. Without thinking I bump into a solid wall or at least what I thought it was.
'Please be a wall and not some crock.' Slowly lifting my head up with a faint growl from the individual, a crack from it's tail bash in the concrete. My eyes widened in horror, it was The Lizard out in the open with a louder roar, everyone in the streets panic and rush out of the way. Screaming trying to get somewhere safe, I tried to get away but The Lizard quickly grabbed me by the waist and roared at me. "Where is he!" He shouted at me. "Where's your little friend at!"
"I don't know what you're talking about!" I said, trying to get out of his grasp.
He growled as he tightened his grip on me, I let out a scream in pain. I won't tell him anything where Peter is even if he torture me or kill me for information. Before The Lizard tightened more a yellow red light casted in the back of me with a mysterious black cape came out wrapping itself around The Lizard's head, releasing from his grasp I nearly fell to the ground until a pair of arms grabbed me pulling me into the portal. My vision slightly blurred trying to look around my surroundings. All I could see was the room filled with books, weird objects with the light casting the room a bit. I tried to get up but I felt my legs numb with small needles pinching my muscles. "You poor thing let help you"
I quickly turned to the direction where the voice was coming from, I couldn't see who it was until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I flinched, causing to slap his hand away from me. I quickly turned around and I saw him on his knees with a worried look on his face. "I'm terribly sorry, I didn't mean to startle you like that" Said Stephen reaching his hand at me. "I won't hurt you"
"I-It is okay, I c-can do it myself" I lied as I slowly got up not caring about the stings around my legs. "Where am I? Whatever happened to The Lizard?"
"Don't worry about him, dear. I took care of him"
Another portal opened out the same black cape wrapping itself around the stranger closing behind him. "Who are you?" I asked
"Who? Me. My name is Doctor Stephen Strange, Sorcerer Supreme" he said gently, grabbing my hand and kissing it. "What about you my dear?~"
I blushed slightly with his icy blue eyes staring back at me, I couldn't help but blushed even more having my face heated up. I quickly moved my hand away from him and covered my cheeks. He softly chuckles, caressing my hair a bit. "I'm sorry, I'm usually never like this when it comes to new people. Y-You just surprised me when you saved me" I said moving my hands away from my cheeks. "Name's (your name) (last name) by the way"
"(your name), what a lovely name for a beautiful woman" he said with a smile.
He gently grabs my hand once more pulling me closer towards him, wrapping his other around my waist drawing me closer and closer to him. The more I look deep in his eyes as our lips, I place a finger in his lips with a shy smile. "Isn't that a bit early for a kiss? We just met after all."
Stephen chuckles with a sigh moving my finger away from his lip. "You're right. I was caught in the moment. Sorry."
Before I could say anything, the front doors slammed open with a voice that sounded familiar. "(Your name), are you here! I brought Ant Man with me"
I excused myself walking out the room toward the downstairs in the main entrance of the house. Stephen followed me nearly close to me; It was Peter with Scott in their hero uniform. Peter walks up the stairs and walks toward me holding my hands. Stephen looks over my shoulder seeing Spideman holding my mines, he quietly growls trying not to make a scene. "You okay? I heard from Ant man saying, The Lizard came out of nowhere and nearly took you hostage!" Said Spiderman in a slight panic.
"I'm fine P-, Spiderman. Doctor Strange rescued me from him" I said with a slightly blushed
Spider-Man let go of my hands but I can tell he was slightly blushing as well behind his mask. "T-Thanks Strange for saving (your name)"
"No need to thank me, Spider-Man. I was there in the right place and the right time" Said Stephen with a smile. Feeling his hand holding my left arm slightly gripping it with a slight pinch.
I twitched a bit and pretended it was just a mosquito bite me, Scott sensed something wasn't right about all this not from the awkward conversation Peter and Stephen are having but the way Stephen is behaving around (Your name). After a few minutes of conversations, I left with Spiderman and Ant man to take me back home; Stephen didn't like the idea of me leaving with them, I could see his eyes shifting to a different color and stare at Peter with hatred. Wrapping my arms around Spiderman's neck with his arm wrapping around my waist. "You ready?" he asked.
I nodded as he shot out a web and swung from building to building following behind Ant Man, I looked back at the Sanctuary as Stephen walked back inside slamming the doors behind him. About 5 mins we made it to my apartment, I helped him open up the window and we both crawled inside closing the curtains behind us. "That was pretty awkward with the Doc" said Peter, taking off his mask. "Don't you agree?"
"He's not awkward, Peter. Stephen is just misunderstood" I said shyly.
"I agree with Parker, (your name)" said Scott, turning back to his normal size. "He's giving me weird vibes around him. I think you should stay away from that man, Stephen may cause some trouble."
"Scott is right (your name), he may have saved you but, I just don't know what will happen if anything happened to you" Peter once more grabbed my hands closer to his chest. "(Your name), I love you and I wanted to tell you that for so long"
My heart was racing hearing from him, Scott looked at me from behind Peter giving me a smile, some thumbs up. I quietly heard him saying, "Go for it!"
I quietly giggled but smiled at Peter putting my arms around his neck. "I'm guessing that double date was just an excuse for us to hook up?" I look at Scott.
"He was going to say that but I think this is the perfect time for it" Scott smiles patting both our shoulders. "How about we should get ready, I don't want Hope to stay at home doing nothing"
We both chuckled giving Peter a kiss on the cheek, they quickly changed back to their normal clothes and headed out of the door. Waving them goodbye, closing the door with a soft sigh, my heart is still racing from Peter's confession and I just hope this night lasts longer..
Stephen POV:
Seeing (your name) with another man made my blood boil, I can't stand him being near my (your name). She's mine! I won't let anyone interfere with my plans to be with her! Growled feeling my right hand changing into tentacles, I grew in pain pushing the creature back inside my body. Panting slightly sensing the creatures trying to escape after consuming their powers for my own will. "Shit. I have to keep it together or else, I'll lose control with these beings inside of me"
I took a deep breath walking around the empty halls, casting a small spell that formed a small bat. "Follow them, I need to know where she lives and where they'll be heading."
The small creature phase through the wall and follows them to (your name)'s apartment. Opening up a small mirror through the eyes of the creature hiding behind the lamp. Watching from afar hearing their conversation until I heard something I didn't want to hear.
"(Your name), I love you and I wanted to tell you that for so long"
Clutching my fist slamming it against the wall puncturing a huge hole not caring about the damage, I growled at the young man who tried to tell my love away from me. "I'll make him suffer for saying those words to her."
Summoning different off the shelf searching a spell for tormenting or perhaps, a cast forbidden spell that could wipe every heroes in this realm. No that would be too obvious I’m not casting the same spell like Wanda did when she nearly wipe out the mutants gene population. I already did cast a spell she used on that small town in New Jersey with no memory upon these pathetic beings. “I just hope this spell will last longer just be a bit closer with (your name), I’m sure Scott and Peter will soon figure out what’s going on and foiled my plans!”
“If they do, I’ll make sure to put end of their exists once and for all but in the meantime, I should get ready for my date~”
~~~~~~~

      Part 2 of Ember
A/N: Hello everyone! I’m so stoked y’all liked my first fic! I really appreciate all the love and support you guys have no idea. (This might have to stretch to three chapters lol)
Tony Stark X daughter!reader
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonys pov
A tense silence filled the halls of the Avengers tower. It’s been a week since Y/N left the tower in tears. It’s been two days since anyone has seen the girl to think of it.  The first few days it was thought the girl was just staying with a friend while she cooled off. But after the third day, a bad feeling settled in the stomachs of the heros. By the fourth day, they asked some of Y/Ns closest friends.
No one has seen her.
Pepper called her aunt, Pamela Isely, but the women said that the last time she spoke to her god daughter was a week before this whole mess happened.
By the time the week was over, it was concluded that Y/N Stark was missing.
Tony Stark was not a perfect father. He knew that, of course he knew. I mean, he didn’t exactly have the positive male role models growing up other than Jarvis. He knew he wasn’t going to be a perfect father. He just never thought he’d screw up this badly.
He found out he had a daughter four months after the Battle of New York. He had gotten the news that an old fling of his had died during the attack. leaving behind a daughter. Feeling bad for the kid, he began to set up a college fund for her, as he knew what it was like to lose someone in a tragic way. At first he thought nothing of it, just simply seeing it as a good deed. But then one night, during one of his restless nights, he began doing the math and figured out that the age of the girl was just about nine months off from when he had...met her mother. Needless to say Pepper was shocked when she woke up to Tony passing out.
After a few minutes of being yelled at by Pepper and another hour of coming to terms with this discovery, Tony made plans to find the girl.
Y/n pov
After explaining your situation with your father to the boy, you realize that you still didn’t know his name. Turning to him you ask for it.
“Oh, my name is Daniel, Daniel Winston.”  You snort as you realize the irony of this ghost boys name.
“You mean to tell me that your name is Daniel, and you’re a ghost with white hair??” He glares at you for a second then a small smile creeps on his face, “Well, despite the circumstances, it is kinda funny.”  You hum in agreement and let a comfortable silence take over as you try and figure out where you are and if you’re even in New York.
“Hey Danny?” You ask, “Where are you from?”
“Bludhaven, I was walking home from school when I was taken. Why do you ask?”
“Because” You reply,” I was taken from New York.” A heavy silence falls over you both as you realize that you’re both unfamiliar with your surroundings. There weren’t any markings to indicate where you were. The base was nestled in a corner of abandoned buildings that looked like factories. The sky was dark and you couldn’t see any stars. There was a strange scent in the air that you chalked up to air pollution. You both continue walking when you see a building with its lights on.
“Danny, that’s the only building so far that has any lights, we should go check it out.” He looked hesitant, and he wasn’t wrong to be. The building was an old shoe factory, it was dark and looked as if a sneeze could take the whole thing down. Whoever was in there probably wasn’t good company.
“ Are you sure you want to go in there?’ Danny's voice full of doubt, “Maybe we should keep going till we actually get into town.” While his idea was the more logical one, you were starting to get tired, blowing up a building with freaky ghost powers takes a lot out a a young girl.
“I think we should go, I need to rest up and we don’t know how far the town will be. We don’t even know what town this is.” And with that, you start to make your way to the building, a hesitant ghost trailing behind you.
Tony's POV
Tony realizes locking himself up in his lab really isn’t going to help find his missing daughter. He just can’t believe he screwed up this badly. His own child, thought she wasn’t loved. He did that to her. A rage filled his body as he angrily swept everything off his work table. The clatter of wrenches and pens filled his ears as he stared at the wall.
The sound of the door opening caught his attention. He turned to see Steve Rogers walking in with a box of chinese food and a stern face. Quietly, the blond man took a look at the state of the lab, shook his head and placed the food on the table.
“We picked straws to decide which one of us had to come convince you to come out.” Steve said breaking the silence between the two men. Tony said nothing as he continued to look at the wall.
“You know, you have some nerve to lock yourself away.” Tony jerked his head over and stared at the man . “ What did you just say?”
“You damn well heard what I said.’ Steve shot back. “ Your daughter is missing. She disappeared into thin air. And you’re in here doing what? Throwing your tools around?”
“Are you going to lecture me?” Tony said in a bored voice.” Because of you are, i want to take notes”
“You know this is your problem. You don’t care.” Steve said angrily. “ You don’t care that your daughter is missing. You don’t care that for eight years, the longest conversation you’ve had with her was when you were introducing her to this team.” Steve stood up from the table and walked back to the door before Tony could say anything. “It’s been a week Tony. She’s been missing for a week.  We need to find her.” He walked out without another word.
And again, Tony was alone. Alone with his thoughts, and alone with his regrets. Then he realizes, if he wants a chance to make up all those years, he’s going to need to find you first.
``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Y/n POV:
Getting into the factory wasn’t too hard, considering you can just walk through walls now. The real hard part finding someone to help, as there was no one in the building. In fact, the only living thing in the factory was the surprising amount of vines and greenery over taking the space.
“hey, Y/n.. maybe we shouldn’t be here...” Danny whispered, ‘” this place is creeping me out.”
“D, you don’t have to whisper, I’m the only one who can hear you.”
 You answer as you look around, the room you were in seemed like an office of some sort. Then you noticed something.
“Danny, those vines...they lead out of the room”
And with that you start walking towards the door, but before you can make it you hear loud voices, two women from what you can tell.
“....mmy you can’t keep doing this to yourself....”
“i....never let her go with him....”
You can’t hear what they’re saying, you take a step forward and accidently step on a vine.
“wait...there's someone here.”
Oh shit. You look at Danny in surprise as there was no way these people would have known you were here.
Then suddenly, the room of plants came to life. Vines started thrashing around, searching for the intruder.
“WHAT THE FUCK” Danny yelled as a vine goes through is body. “Y/N lets get out of here!” In your panic, you forget you can literally turn into a ghost, so you look for a window to get out of. Before you can climb, a vine suddenly wraps around your leg and pulls you out of the room.
“Y/N!!”
You thrash as you are pulled down the hallway, around corners, and painfully down stairs. You scratch at the floor, desperate to find something to cut the vines.  Then your eyes start glowing. Your skin melting to a pale blue. You blast through the plant as you start floating upwards. You shoot the plants around you with a blue mist like energy.
“What is that?” “Aye whatta you doing here?”  Wait. You know that voice.
Looking up, you get distracted and a vine wraps around your body, restricting your movement. You struggle for a while till you hear it.
“Y/N?” You stop and look up. You change back to your normal appearance, shocked.
“Aunt Pam?!”
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
TONY’S POV
After Steves not lecture, Tony got to work. He had FRIDAY look for anything suspicious in and near New York. By doing that, he found out that there has been an influx of missing people ranging from ages twenty to fifteen. They were going missing from three specific cities: Bludhaven, Gotham, and...New York. Seeing this had Tony's heart sink. He ran into the conference room where the rest of the team was conducting their own investigation. But before he entered, he stopped to listen to the teams conversation.
“How can she just...disappear into thin air..” Sam said in a sad voice. The rest of the team sat in silence.
“Maybe we missed something. There has to be something there.” Natasha said with a desperation no on has heard from her. “It’s been a week Steve, she wouldn’t just leave like that.” And that when Tony decided to make his presence known.
“Maybe she didn’t” He said making everyone jump, “There has been an increase in missing person cases in the cities of Gotham, Bludhaven, and New York. All around the same age as Y/N.”
“So,you’ve decided to step up” Clint said sarcastically. “Where have you been this past week Stark?”
“ Look I know I haven’t been the best parent” Tony said.
“that’s an understatement”, grumbled Clint.
“I love my daughter. I hate the thought of her not knowing that.” Tony finished looking around the room to see the disapproval of the team.
“Fighting isn’t going to find her.” Wanda said quietly. “We need to work together.”
“Wandas right.” Steve said, “FRIDAY ,can you find any abnormal activity in any of the cities?”
“I did a widespread search specifically in the Gotham bludhaven and New York areas. A building in the indrustrial area in Gotham spontaneously collapsed. When authorities searched through the rubble, they found bodies of thirty out of the ninety reported missing people.”
“Was there anyone matching Y/N description,” asked Natasha anxiously.
“FRIDAY bring up the missing kids files”
A long minute went by, and all the files uploaded. The Avengers were all on edge as they flipped through the thirty files. They were relieved when they realized that Y/n was not part of those thirty kids.
Dinner With May (PS4!Peter Parker x Reader)
[Summary: After the events of the PS4 Spider-man game, you find yourself and your boyfriend, Peter, having dinner at his aunt’s house. For some reason, Peter seemed even more anxious than usual. It wasn’t until you overheard a conversation between him and his aunt that you figured out why. (She/Her pronouns)
Warnings: PS4 Spider-man spoilers, not canon compliant, marriage/proposals, anxiety
Request: From my request survey (https://forms.gle/LbodcqZ7nxfGbNW96)]
It had been a chaotic month for you and Peter. Peter had been working almost nonstop as Spider-man, having to fight all of his biggest villains along with his mentor and the man that his aunt worked for, two men that he looked up to and trusted. He had been hurt fairly badly at certain points, and you had to patch him up when he did.
Not to mention, at one point Dr. Octavius had released a plague onto New York in an attempt to get revenge against Norman Osborn, and for the few days after that, you were helping Miles Morales and Peter’s Aunt May work to help all the people at the F.E.A.S.T. center that were going there for shelter as the city descended into chaos. By the end of it, May had gotten sick, Peter had broken multiple bones, and you and Miles had been almost killed a few different times. Peter was barely able to save May in time, and the clean-up still wasn’t done, but you guys were finally able to take a day to relax.
May had noticed that the two of you had been working nearly constantly, so she had invited the two of you over for dinner. May was a sweetheart. And she was an amazing cook, too so you were relatively excited to get to sit down for a nice meal with Peter and his aunt.
She was making your favorite, which you had told her a thousand times she didn’t need to do. But she was insistent. At this point, she switched between cooking your favorite meal and Peter’s every time the two of you went over for dinner.
You didn’t get the chance to go over to her house as much as you would like. You were busy enough with your job, and most nights Peter was gone before dinner to go stop crimes throughout the city. So more often than not, you were on your own for dinner, grabbing something quick from a shop that does takeout on your way home from work late in the evening.
But you had taken the day off of work to finally get a chance to relax, and you had insisted that Peter do the same, despite his protests that he was “totally fine” and “couldn’t take a day off”. Eventually, you had to get Miles to promise that he could handle one night on his own and that he would call Peter if anything came up that he needed help with. He was still pretty new to everything, but he could manage the petty crimes on his own.
- - - - -
The sun was already setting by the time the two of you got to May’s house. It had taken you almost an hour to get Peter out of the apartment that you shared, between him needed to call Miles to check-in and him nervously trying to make sure that he remembered everything. He apologized profusely for the entire trip over for making you late, and you spent the entire time trying to convince him that he didn’t need to apologize.
He had finally calmed down a bit by the time you got to his aunt’s house. He was always pretty anxious, especially when he wasn’t in his Spider-man suit, but somehow he seemed extra nervous tonight. You wondered if maybe his mental health had been suffering lately, after everything that had happened. You had to admit that you were starting to get a bit worried about him. You knew he could take care of himself, but sometimes he just didn’t. He had this bad habit of sacrificing his health and safety for the people around him and you were worried that he was doing that again.
So you hoped that dragging him to a nice dinner with his aunt would get him to take a bit of time for himself. She had been trying to get him to take better care of himself for as long as you could remember, so maybe she could do something to help convince him to take a few days to himself every once in a while. You didn’t want to make it seem like you were ganging up on him, but you had almost lost him a few times in the recent past and you weren’t ready for that.
“So which one of us do you think is going to insist on doing dishes after dinner first tonight,” You asked, your tone a bit teasing as you tried to lighten the mood a bit and distract Peter from his anxiety.
“Hmmm,” He pretended to think about it, the way he usually did when you teased him and he decided to play along, “Probably you, since you always seem to beat me to it.”
“Now that’s not true,” You place your hand over your heart in mock offense, like one of the ladies in a Victorian Era period drama, “I let you do the dishes on my birthday.”
He shook his head and chuckled a bit at that, before finally knocking on the door to his aunt’s house.
She opened the door with a smile on her face and the smell of amazing food wafting out of the kitchen. She greeted you each with a hug, letting you into the house like it was your house too. She had tried to convince you that you didn’t need to knock, but you insisted. You got a bit anxious when manners were in question. Maybe your anxiety was part of the reason that you and Peter worked so well together.
“It’s so nice to see you two,” May said as the two of you walked into the house. Her eyes almost started welling up with tears as she looked at you and Peter. Peter had officially revealed his identity as Spider-Man to her in the heat of everything happening and, while she had known the entire time, she had been incredibly worried for his safety with everything that was happening.
“It’s nice to see you too, Aunt May,” Peter almost melted as he walked into the living room. The tension seemed to drain from his shoulders as he looked at his aunt and took in the fact that she was safe, “How are feeling?”
“Just fine, Peter,” She said, her voice kind and reassuring in the way that you knew would calm Peter’s nerves a little, “I’ve been recovering pretty well, and it helps to get a day off to rest.”
You could tell that the last sentence was a little pointed, not in a scolding way, but instead in the way your mom did when she knew you hadn’t had any water all day. With a bit of teasing but mostly with care and concern for your wellbeing. And you could tell that he could hear it too by the slightly sheepish look that crossed his face.
“Well, I’m glad to hear that you’re doing well,” You responded, unable to stop the smile from crossing your face. It was always kind of cute to see him come back home. You got to see him in a lot of different lights, as Peter Parker the scientist, the photographer, the awkward date, and of course, the city’s hero. But despite all of these different personas, you had to say that Peter Parker, the doting nephew was one of your favorites, “Thank you so much for inviting us over.”
“Of course, dear,” She turned to you with the same soft smile on her face, “You know you’re always welcome over, I’m just thankful that you managed to convince my nephew to take enough time off to come to visit me.”
You chuckle a little at that, “Of course, May. You know he’d come visit more if he wasn’t so busy with trying to stop every crime in New York.”
“Oh, I know. And I appreciate you looking out for him, dear.”
- - - - -
Dinner was nice. One of those moments that you wished you could freeze in time. You were warm and your stomach was full and you were smiling the entire time. It was the first time in a long time that you were pretty sure that nothing bad would happen for at least the next hour. You got to be domestic for just a little while, safe and happy and surrounded by the love of your life and his family.
“Alright, I’ll get started on the dishes,” You said when the meal ended, shooting a wink at Peter as you stand. May shot you the same exasperated look that she always did, but let you take her plate. She had given up on trying to stop you a long time ago, realizing that you would insist no matter what she said. Peter just chuckled a bit, remembering your conversation from earlier.
Doing dishes alone in the kitchen was nice sometimes. It was a moment for you to collect yourself. You loved May and Peter, and you didn’t mind spending the whole night with them, but sometimes a few moments of quiet was nice. The smell of the food still wafted around you, and the sound of the water rushing from the sink made you think of a waterfall sometimes, even though doing the dishes wasn’t exactly the most enjoyable chore.
Sometimes, if you focused, you could still hear the conversation that was going on in the dining room. You didn’t intend to eavesdrop or anything, you were just curious. Usually, they’d just alk about F.E.A.S.T. or maybe reminisce about when Peter was a child. It was just nice to listen in a bit on their small talk, getting to know what Peter was like with just his aunt and no one else around.
Today’s conversation was a bit different, though.
“So have you asked her yet, Peter?” You heard Aunt May ask, piquing your interest.
“No, of course not,” Peter sighed, “With everything that’s going on, all of the clean-up throughout the city, there really hasn’t been a good time.”
“I suppose that’s fair, Pete, but you’re going to have to ask eventually. Unless you don’t want to,” You were sure they were talking about you, but you weren’t quite sure exactly what he was planning on asking you. Well, maybe. But you didn’t want to assume. You didn’t want to get your hopes up.
“I do! I really do,” Peter responded, almost outraged at the idea that he didn’t actually want to ask, “I just want it to be perfect. And you know we’re so busy. This is my first day off since everything went down with Mr. Li, so I hardly have time to plan a romantic dinner.”
“Peter, you don’t have to plan out the perfect romantic dinner, I promise.”
“But what if she says no,” He sighed, sounding defeated, “It’s dangerous to be with me. I could put her in danger. And even if I don’t, what’s going to happen when she gets sick of having to take care of me? It’s not easy to deal with me running off all the time and coming back with cuts and broken bones.”
“No, it’s not easy,” May sighed, “But she’s been here for this long. She knows what she’s getting herself into, and she’s stayed this long. Has she ever asked you to stop what you were doing or to choose between her and Spider-man?”
“No, I guess not.”
“Then she’s not going to,” May explained, and you couldn’t help but nod, even though neither of them could see you, “She’s chosen to stay this long. If she was going to leave, she would’ve done it by now.”
There was a silence creeping out of the dining room as the conversation paused. You wondered if he believed it. Because May was right. It was hard, and you worried almost constantly about Peter, but you loved him. You loved him no matter how many dates he skipped out on to go fight crime or how many nights he woke you up at two in the morning to help patch him up after a fight. And you weren’t going anywhere.
The air felt heavy, and you felt your heart tighten a little. You knew Peter was a bit insecure and anxious. You knew that sometimes he didn’t feel good enough, he was overwhelmed and he felt as though the world was on his shoulder. But you had hoped that he knew that you would never think that he wasn’t good enough.
You weren’t quite sure what to do, but you couldn’t let him think like that. Before you could even think of a plan, you were walking into the dining room.
“Oh, uh, hey,” You could tell by the look on Peter’s face that he knew that you had heard their conversation, “How much of that could you hear?”
“All of it.”
All three of you froze for just a moment, before May stood up, “Well, why don’t I go finish the dishes while you two talk.”
“Peter, you know I’m not leaving, right?” You asked, sitting next to him as May walked out of the room.
“I know,” He sighed, “I just… You deserve so much better. I’m kind of a terrible boyfriend, (Y/N). I’m not super reliable, and I know I stress you out.”
“I’m stressed because I care about you, Pete. I love you and you’re constantly putting yourself in danger, but I understand it,” You explained, grabbing his hand on the table, “I love how much you want to help everyone, and I’ll always be here when you need me. I don’t mind if you have to run out on dates, because I know you still care. And you’re not a terrible boyfriend. You’re an incredibly caring person with the world on your shoulders, and you don’t have to do that alone, Pete. I’m right here, and I’m going to stay right here.”
You could see tears welling up in his eyes like he had been waiting for years to hear that. And maybe he had. You squeezed his hand lightly, hoping to reassure him a little. He looked up at you, looking at you like you were the only person in the world. Like if he had to trade the moon and all the stars in the sky to keep you safe, he would. Like you were the only thing that has ever and would ever matter.
“I love you, Pete,” You whispered, hoping it would finally get through to him.
“I love you too,” He replied, you saw his hand slip into his pocket, his fingers nervously fidgeting with something. You could tell he still had something on his mind, and you were pretty sure you knew what it was, but you didn’t want to push him. He’d ask when he was comfortable and you didn’t want to push him before that, “You heard the whole conversation, right?”
“Yes.”
“So, I’m sure you already know what I have to ask,” He sighed, sliding out of the chair and down to one knee, verifying your suspicions, “I wanted this to be more romantic, but, uh, well…”
You nod. You had a feeling he had already rehearsed the speech he was about to give at least twenty times, so you weren’t going to interrupt him, but you wanted to signal that he should keep going.
“(Y/N), I know it’s not easy to be with me. I’m flaky, I stay stupid stuff half the time, and I’d never wish the pressure of dating a superhero on anyone. But through all of this, you’re here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” He took a deep breath before continuing, “I don’t know if I could do what I do without you. You make me feel like the weight of everything I do isn’t as much as it is. And you give me something to go home to, somewhere safe and warm. (Y/N), you’re my lifeline through all of this mess, and it would be the greatest honor of my life if you would marry me.”
You’re crying so hard by the end that you don’t even notice the ring he pulls out of his pocket. You’re too busy trying to look him in the eyes through your tears, “Of course I will.”
You dropped down to hug him, and he pulled you as close to him as he could. It was a firm hug, and you could tell he was focusing really hard on not squeezing too tight. So you hugged him tighter. You staying like that for a few moments, soaking his shirt with happy tears, before he pulled back from the hug to grab your hand and slide the ring onto your finger.
“Congratulations,” May interrupted from the doorway, a wide grin on her face and proud tears in her eyes, “Now what do you say we have some cake to celebrate?”
“I think that sounds like a wonderful idea."
Hello. I love the prompt " the commission " can we have the full story please ? How will the avengers react of the news about Hawkmoth?
The full story will come later I promise! I unleashed so many things onto myself but I have no regrets XD Though I shall share some headcanons with you guys about the AU in the mean time!
* Pepper has been a fan of MDC since she saw the designs for Penny and Jagged’s wedding attire. Her and Penny are friends and when she asked who made Penny’s dress and Jagged’s suit, Penny was all too happy to tell her and brag about Marinette and show her everything else Mari had designed for her and Jagged and others.
* When Tony officially proposed, Pepper already knew who she wanted to make her dress. She could tell Tony was hesitant to ask MDC since she wasn’t that well known yet, but they both knew he couldn’t say no to her, so it was no surprise when she caught him looking at her website and commission prices. Later she pretended not to notice him calling Penny and asking for MDC’s email. Pepper liked to let him believe he could keep anything from her, it was the thought that counted.
* Peter, Harley, MJ, and Ned are all excited for the wedding. Peter gets to be the flower boy which he is super happy about and Harley is the ring bearer.
* MJ is also a fan of MDC
* The whole “Minion” squad are Jagged Stone fans. Peter’s favorite album may or may not be Rock Giant.  👀
*The Minion Squad are all off school for summer already, Marinette just started summer since it’s the beginning days of July. While the Minion Squad plans to help plan the wedding, invent, prank the Avengers, and just have some good summer fun, Marinette plans to work on her MDC commissions since she knew she would be getting a lot. Penny had given her a heads up. Besides, there wasn’t much friends she could hang out with since Luka had told her that him, his sister, and his mom planned to sail around for the summer. Anarka wantedd to get the kids out of Paris for a while. Chloe and Sabrina would be going on vacation with Chloe’s mom to Milan for two weeks and then to New York for a month so Chloe could see her mother’s business and get a feel of it and see if it is something she would want to take over. Kagami and her mother would also be leaving Paris to visit family in Japan. The only ones she would be able to hang out with would be Alix, Nathaniel, and Marc.
* Then she gets the email from Tony. Freaking. Stark! She nearly faints! Okay. She faints. He actually wants Marinette to design and make his and Pepper Potts wedding attire!!! His email said that he would house her and her team for however long she needed for the consulting period and the beginning work of the outfits. Okay actually it said till the outfits were done but she would discuss that with him and Pepper when she got there because wedding dresses typically took 6-9 months to make. She figured she had time as he did specify they were planning a December wedding of next year, something about it being a Christmas present.
* After she talks it over with her parents, she responds to Tony that she would love to design and make his and Pepper’s wedding attire but before the discuss anything further she would like for them to video chat. Tony agrees later that day, which is more than enough time for Marinette to set up at Jagged and Penny’s house, they officially bought a house in Paris yes, along with her mother and father so they could talk everything over with Mr. Stark. When the camera connects, Tony swears he must be rebooting because he did not think that MDC was a 16 year old girl, but he adapts quickly and understands now why she wanted to discuss the arrangement more.
* Tom and Sabine are even more delighted and on board on sending Marinette to New York when Tony offers to let her stay in Stark Tower/Avengers Tower with the heroes and his Minions. Marinette of course asks if she can bring some friends, they’re not officially her team but she would feel better having them there with her. Of course Tony agrees because he could practically hear Pepper scold him if he said no and they continue to set everything up while Marinette calls up Alix, Marc and Nathaniel and ask if they want to go with her to New York to go to the Avengers Tower. It takes too long in her opinion to convince them that no. she’s not joking, and yes she is serious.
* Once they get their parents permission they plan to leave on Saturday which would be in two days. It’s a little hectic, especially because Marinette didn’t know if she should take the Miracle Box or not but in the end she decides to leave it with her mom and dad, aka the new Turtle and Fox heroes of Paris. They had found out she was Ladybug a little after she had become the Guardian because she had broken down. Everything had become too much for her and Tikki couldn’t stand to see her chosen like that so she told Tom and Sabine that their daughter was Ladybug.
* Marinette was going to take the Horse, Mouse, and of course, Ladybug Miraculous, to New York though. Her mom promised that she would text her or call her as soon as she could if they spotted or heard an akuma, and that they would fight it off until she got there.
* When Marinette and her friends get to New York and meet Tony, he can tell they’ve fought in a fight children shouldn’t have to, but he doesn’t know how to ask about it so he pushes it back till he can think of a way to approach the subject. He immediately takes a liking to Marinette, he can tell she’s smart for her age, and he just likes her energy.
* Then Tony introduces them to his Minions and Peter, Ned, and Harley all have a collective freakout because they are meeting THE MDC. MJ is, of course, happy too but she can at least keep her cool when meeting the designer who made Jagged Stone’s iconic Eiffel Tower sunglasses, the one who designed his Rock Giant album art, and the one who made his Roaring Dragon Jacket! Peter asks Marinette if she can sign his copy of the album and Tony thinks it’s all down hill from there. He can see the kid’s blush from across the room.
* The consultation happens and Pepper is just as surprised as Tony was when she learns MDC is only 16 but she hides it fairly well. Both are pleasantly surprised by Marinette’s professionalism and are pleased with the overall talk about what they want out of the design. Tony even manages to squeeze in another suit for Peter because he knows the kid and he is not letting him wear a rented tux to his wedding.
* Tony and Pepper have dinner with the kids and the Minions and it’s decided that they can stay for the summer, and no Pepper don’t look at Tony like that it’s not because he’s trying to help Peter get a date for the wedding.
* Then Marinette meets the Avengers. Thor loves her, but like who doesn’t Thor love? And who doesn’t love Thor? She is super interested in learning about Asgard, especially its fashion and she even talks Thor into giving her some fabric samples to work with. He just loves her enthusiasm and he appreciates her letting him talk about his home and his people. Marc and Nathaniel get a great picture of the two of them sitting on Thor’s flexed arms. Marc also loves to hear about Thor’s home and people and Nathaniel loves to draw him and those he talks about.
Natasha accidentally sneaks up on Marinette, she never means to do it, it is just how she is, so when this little girl turns around in a flash with a pencil held in her fist as a weapon her eyes narrowed looking for the danger, she is suprised and has to stop her own reflexes from sweeping the girls legs from under her. She respects Marinette’s reflexes and the two spar and Marinette tells her she used to do ballet when Natasha asks her why her turns and spins almost seem like she’s doing a dance and Natasha’s eyes light up. The two bond over ballet
Bucky, Clint, and Steve meet her one morning when they go to the kitchen and find so many goodies to eat and see this tiny little girl singing to herself as she pulls muffins out of the oven. She turns to them and smiles and says good morning before introducing herself so they do as well. When Steve introduces himself her eyes narrow and she hisses out, “YOU.” He’s so confused until she starts tearing into him about him hero suit. Bucky and Clint of course love this moment and will cherish it forever.
She meets Bruce and he’s heard of this little terror from Steve and he’s thinking she’s going to tear into Hulk about wearing only shorts but then she’s shaking his hand and saying it’s an honor to meet you Dr. Banner, apparently she’s read some of his papers. And Bruce can’t help but smile for the rest of the day.
When Wanda meets her she just hugs the little girl for a while because she hadn’t meant to see how her ex friends had treated her back in Paris but she did and this child needed a hug. Marinette had just been asking what material her jacket was made out of so they had touched briefly, then she was being hugged, but she didn’t mind, she figured maybe Wanda was having an off day and needed a hug.
Vision had just looked at Marinette and said, “Miraculous.” nobody knew what he meant but Marinette did and she just put a finger to her lips with her eyes wide with panic. Thankfully he got what she was trying to say and gave her a nod and small smile.
Tony said there was more people for her to meet but she would have the whole summer to do that so she was content.
* Then the first akuma alert went off when they were there in New York. Marinette thought everyone was sleeping when she created the portal and leapt through...she didn’t know how wrong she was.
After a couple of days, Rory kinda got used to her new "home." Since Tony didn't know how long it would be before they went back to California, and with Pepper gone, they decided it was best if Rory just took a break from school.
Rory did eventually grow to like her new room. She was not allowed to leave the current floor, so she basically just spent all of her time there. Tony was gone all day and didn't get home until very late at night, meaning Rory had to have food delivered. She didn't mind, though. She figured that if they end up staying, she'll be able to tell Tony what all the good restaurants are.
Tony never told her anything about why they were here with the exception of, "Daddy has business."
So in order to pass the time, Rory would read or watch movies. She even took up drawing which turned out to be something she isn't too bad at.
This morning, Tony was already gone by the time Rory got up, so she got dressed and migrated to the living area. She sat on one of the couches near the large window and began sketching the tall buildings surrounding her.
As she finished the shading on one of the skyscrapers, she peered back up to see a tall man with long, black hair dressed in what looked like a Halloween costume standing on the terrace. Rory put down her sketchbook and looked closer. He was very tall and had large, golden horns that decorated the top of his head. She had no clue as to why this man was standing outside of her window on her father's building.
Rory looked to her right and noticed her father, in the Iron Man suit, land on the landing pad. The man just stood there, watching as machines swiftly removed the armor from Tony's body.
The strange man made his way into the room from the balcony. The room she was in. Rory didn't know what to do. She was frozen, scared. Instead of running away as any sane person would, Rory remained in her chair.
The large man entered the room. He studied his surroundings, his eyes eventually landing on Rory. "Who might you be?" He asked with disdain.
Rory could do nothing but blink at him, too afraid to speak. He opened his mouth to say more, only to be interrupted by the presence of Tony. "Rory, come here," Tony said blankly.
Rory immediately dropped her things and ran to her father's side. Tony wrapped his arm around her protectively, hoping to shield her with his body.
The man watched this all happen before finally speaking, "Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity." He spoke as if she weren't there.
"Actually I'm planning to threaten you," Tony responded. Rory couldn't sense any different emotions other than his natural sarcastic tone.
"You should have left your armor on for that," the man bantered, walking closer to Tony and Rory.
"Yeah," Tony pushed Rory behind the bar. "It's seen a bit of mileage, and you've got the glow stick of destiny." Rory crouched down below the bar and pulled her knees into her chest. She couldn't help but let tears stain her cheeks, afraid of what was happening. "Would you like a drink?" Tony asked the man as he walked behind the bar, actively trying to ignore you in hopes you wouldn't become a target.
Rory heard the other man laugh. "Stalling me won't change anything," he said. If Rory knew what it meant, she would describe their conversation as passive-aggressive.
"No, no. threatening." Tony began making himself a drink. "No drink? You sure? I'm having one.
"The Chitauri are coming. Nothing will change that." His words sounded like gibberish to Rory. "What have I to fear?"
Rory watched her father casually make a drink as if nothing was wrong. "The Avengers. That's what we call ourselves. We're sort of like a team." Rory had no idea what he was going on about. ""Earth's mightiest heroes"-type thing."
"Yes, I've met them."
"Yea," Tony's smile helped calm Rory down. He had to have the situation under control, right? "It takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one. But let's do a headcount, here. Your brother, the demi-god," demi-god? "A super-soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend." He secretly slipped a metal-looking band on each wrist.
"A man with breathtaking anger-management issues, a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella," none of his words were making any sense. "You've managed to piss off every single one of them."
"That was the plan."
"Not a great plan," Tony walked past you and out from the bar. "When they come, and they will, they'll come for you."
"I have an army."
"We have a hulk."
Rory finally gathered enough courage and stood up carefully. She peeked her head over the bar to watch the men while also trying to stay out of the way. Tony was approaching the man as they spoke; the man keeping his ground.
"I thought the beast had wandered off," the man said.
"You're missing the point. There's no throne," Tony's voice rose slightly. "There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it."
Tony took a sip of his drink while the man took a few steps closer, a scowl spreading across his features. "How will your friends have time for me when they're so busy fighting you?"
For the first time since this scene began, Tony looked scared. The man brought his scepter-looking thing up and tapped it against Tony's chest with a clang noise. The man's face dropped for a second before he tried a second time, and then a third. "This usually works."
Tony didn't look scared anymore. "Well, performance issues, it's not uncommon. One out of five--" his sentence was cut short when the man forcefully grabbed Tony's throat and threw him onto the floor. Rory squealed and then immediately covered her mouth.
The man turned his head in Rory's direction with a puzzled look. He turned away from her as soon as Tony stood up and went for his neck again. "You will all fall before me," he said.
"Deploy!" Tony called before the man threw him out the window, shattering the glass. Rory screamed with all her might. Did she just watch her Dad be murdered? What was he going to do to her?
Rory hid behind the bar once more, watching and listening closely to her surroundings. A loud sound rippled through the room causing Rory to throw her hands over her ears to block out the noise. She peeked over the bar and saw nothing but more shards of glass and broken furniture.
The man stared Rory down. "Who are you?"
Rory gulped, "who are you?"
He chuckled. "I am Loki, of Asgard. I'm surprised you have not yet heard of me." His tone was a lot softer with her than it was with her father. "What is your name, little one?"
"Rory," she nervously answered his question. "My name is Rory."
"Let me guess; Stark's child?" She didn't say anything. Rory simply nodded. "Ah I see," he gave you an almost heartwarming smile. "Come here, Rory."
Fearing she had no other choice, Rory walked over to Loki and he crouched down to meet her gaze. He smiled at her. Rory watched her father fly up behind him. She was more than thrilled to see her father alive and more tears fell from her eyes.
"And one more thing," Loki's face dropped and he spun around to face Tony. "Get away from my daughter!" Tony shot at Loki, sending him flying backward. Rory jumped out of the way, too stunned to do anything else. With Loki knocked out, Tony looked towards his daughter, "Rory go hide, now!" He flew away into the sky, and Rory wasted no time in running to her bedroom.
She slammed the door shut and locked it. She looked around her room for anything that she could put in front of the door to make it harder to reach her. Rory tried to move the couch, but it was no use. It was too heavy for a ten-year-old to manage. She tugged on her roots as she spotted her desk chair. Once it was securely tucked under the knob, Rory ran over to her window to watch what was unfolding.
Rory couldn't help herself as she began to sob. She was afraid and she was alone. There was nothing she could do to help. Tons of thousands of aliens flooded the skies and streets of New York as Rory sat up in her bedroom, watching. She was sobbing uncontrollably as she pressed her face and hands into the large window.
More loud noises were flowing from the living area into Rory's bedroom and Rory could do nothing to stop them. She hoped that the man who called himself Loki was gone and that her Dad was alright.
At this moment, Rory really felt like a child. She felt small and helpless. Lonely and afraid. There was nothing else she could do except watch. She had no clue as to what she was watching either, which was not making her feel any better.
At long last, the aliens seemed to dissipate and things seemed to calm down. It looked to Rory like the fight was over. But who won?
Rory was drawn away from her thoughts by the sound of her father's voice calling her name. She nearly sprinted out. She ran up to Tony and engulfed him in the tightest bear hug she could manage. He was still in his suit and covered in dirt, but neither seemed to mind.
"I was afraid," Rory murmured into his neck.
"I know, bubs." They pulled away from the hug and Rory got the chance to really see the other people in the room.
There was a giant-sized man with green skin, a man with a shield, a man with a bow and arrow, a man with a red cape and long hair, and what looked like Natalie, only with shorter hair. They looked odd. As if they were straight out of a movie. She noticed Loki in handcuffs. He looked angry and sad at the same time. Rory didn't really know what he did, but she knew he lost and her dad won.
Tony held a silver case in one hand and Rory's in the other as he walked alongside the other Avengers waiting to send Loki away. Tony had made it very clear that from now on, Rory would not be leaving his side.
Rory let go of her Dad's hand to let him deal with the case. Thor, as he had told Rory to call him, led Loki a few feet away from everyone else. He waited for Loki to grab hold of the glass container for the Tesseract. Before she knew it, the pair had disappeared in a storm of blue.
Once everything else was settled, Tony reached for Rory's hand again and walked her over to the rest of the Avengers. "Rory there's some people I'd like you to meet," he motioned to the team. "That's Capsicle, Legolas, Jolly Green, and the Triple Imposter. This is Rory." The others shook their heads at Tony's nicknames.
"Steve," the tall, blonde man smiled and Rory shook his hand.
"Bruce," the shorter man with grey hair politely smiled and waved.
"Yea," Nat showed you a friendly smile to which you returned. "Nice to finally meet you, officially."
"And I'm Clint," the last man with spiky hair and sunglasses introduced himself.
"Hi," you said, shyly and waved at them all.
"Bubs, you go wait in the car I'll be there in a sec," said Tony.
"Okay. It was nice meeting you all!" You said as you walked to the car.
"You ready to go, kiddo?" Tony asked as he got in the car and fastened his seatbelt.
"Are we going home? Like, back to Malibu?" you asked as he started the car and pulled out.
"Yea," he smiled. "I think we deserve a break."
"What about the tower?"
"We're working on it. It'll be fixed in no time."
"Good," you sighed
"Good?"
"I don't mind it anymore. I don't think it would be so bad if we moved here."
"Really?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Really."
Saved by the Devil (17/?) - Thomas Shelby
Summary: Father and reader are reunited, Reader faces her past and future at once. (Im getting better kind of?)
Pairing: Tommy Shelby x Fem!Reader (Romantic)
Warning: Unhealthy father and daughter relationship.
A/N: This chapter took oh so long but I’m glad that we get to see this relationship between Father and Daughter in this one. Also i named the father George so sorry if you know someone named George. Comments and feedback is always appreciated and as always have a good night and take care of yourselves.
Italics = flashback
George (L/N), your father was a man that everyone feared. You knew this ever since you were a little girl. You saw the air he prided himself with, the way people parted like the red sea whenever he walked, the way no one would look him in his eye. You used to worship the ground he walked on. You would cry on to your mother why you couldn’t spend more time with the man, she would give you a look that you didn’t understand then. She was horrified when George did decide to take you for a tour of his ‘office.’ She could do nothing but watch you bounce happily away on your father hand. You still remember the day.
 “You can’t take her, not there.” Your mother cried to him
 “Shes gonna need to learn sooner or later.”
 “Then later!” She yelled.
 He ignores her cries as he drags you along. You had a big smile at finally getting time with your father. You didn’t understand why she was against this.
The walk was brisk, you even stopped for a treat. You ended up jumping from one place to another. Your father talking to people, shaking their hands. You noticed how they looked to him like a leader. So you asked.
 “Im a boss honey,” He answered, “You will be too one day. You’ll help me run all this.”
 “Really?” you said
 “You just gotta be tough. Can you do that?”
 You nodded pulling off your toughest face. The next place he leads you is some old train tracks that aren’t used anymore. A group of men stand around in a circle. All of them waiting for him.
 “You brought a kid to this?” One of them says.
 “You got a problem with that?” George says cocking his gun you didn’t realize he had.
 The man shakes his head no and pints where the rest of them gather, “They got him over there.”
Your father no longer holds your hand as he walks ahead of you. You follow slowly. You can see the man in the middle of the circle. Looking worn down and beaten. Your father stands ahead of him, he plays with gun in the air. He talks words you block out. You just watch the man as is eyes loosely follow your father. He cries uncontrollable begging for his life. You see his body fall before you hear the gun. You don’t cry, you don’t say a word. Your father pats you on the head and says you did good.
 Soon he took you everywhere and anywhere, spending more time with him less with your mother. You became a different person as you became used to the violence. You saw different side of your father more than once but he still treated you like a good. He wanted you prepared for anything and you just wanted to prove that you could be. So learning wasn’t an issue and neither was the perfection you set yourself up for. You became a mini version of him, you didn’t mind unlike your mother who was just horrified. She fought for you to stay in school when he would convince you to leave. She wanted to to date, have a normal job. But you wouldn’t listen to her. You father was your hero at the time you saw nothing wrong with anything that was happening.
 “Your tainting her. Its not good for her to be around this stuff.”
 You listen from atop of the stairs, now only seventeen.
 “Son or daughter, my child is gonna learn the business and learn it right!” He yelled
 “Then ill tell the police, everything I know. Ill take her away or- or”
 “Are you threatening me?”
 “I want my daughter back! You’re running her.”
 “She’s growing up, deal with it.” He turns away from her, gives her the side eye before walking out. You go to sleep, hoping for them to forgive and forget.
 You wake in the middle of night for a glass of water when you found your mother dead. You cry for the first time over a dead body. Holding your mothers hand close to her face, hoping for  a reaction. Your father walks in and pauses. You can see through your lashes that his hands were stained red. You don’t say anything. He brings  out two shovels and hands one to you. George tells you nothing more but to dig in the backyard.
 You don’t. He scolds you for not listening, for not working faster. He digs it himself. He doesn’t look you in the eye as you watch his bury dirt on top of your mother. You share a tea later in the night. You just watch the inside of your cup, the steam rising up. He drinks his greedily, eating cookies as if it’s a regular Sunday morning.
That’s when your relationship changed. You begun to bicker and challenge everything he said or did. You couldn’t understand why he would do that. Or how he even could. You didn’t know what you could do, so you held the emotions in for a long time. Growing distant with your father. He confronts you on your behavior and you no longer hokd your tounge with him.
 “You killed her. Why?”
 “You wouldn’t understand.”
 “I had to bury her, do you know what that was like?”
 “In this business you’ll have to bury a lot more like her.”
 “she had nothing to do with it.” You state.
 He looks at your small figure, your eyes welling up with tears. “Don’t cry.”
 “Why did you do it? Why did you kill my mother?” You press the issue your voice growing louder wanting , needingthe answer. Wanting all this to make sense.
 “Why does it matter? So you can tell the whole city?” He turns on you quick.
 “What if I did, does that scare you?”
 “Watch your mouth girl.”
 “Is that why you killed my mother? Cause she didn’t watch her mouth.” He gets up quickly punching a hole in the wall near your face. You stay still as tears fall from you eyes slowly.
 No longer were the two of you a pair. The father daughter duo was dead. He iced you of the business. Meeting happening without you, transactions with your knowledge. He treated you like a stranger he shared a house with. But every chance you got when you would see him. You questioned him, wanted him to feel bad. No answer at this point would satisfy you, you know that. But you hoped the guilt would eat at his soul for the rest of time. You were there to remind him. And he didn’t like that.
It was the day before you turned eighteen, when you were surprised with a knock on the door. The men claimed to be doctors as they grabbed you by the wrist, throwing you in their car, declaring you insane. You didn’t understand what was happening and that only made them laugh sealing their opinion on what state your mind was as you panicked. The doctors told you nothing but that your father had expressed concerns over your health. And that he was doing this for your own good. Being there made you feel insane but you tried your best to repeal the order to get out. But the doctors were well played off, some of the nurses being Georges goons, no one would let you out unless he said so. Until Tommy Shelby came in, of course you were finally free from that cage.
 So now you stand in front of this man, you had idolized and called father. A man who now is only a murderer, a thief, a low life, your enemy. You clench your jaw as he opens his arms to you. The wrinkles on Georges face crease as he smiles. He’s older in the face and hold a cane in his hand.
 “What? No hug?”
 “Fuck off.”
 “What a lovely choice of words. Im glad to see your okay. I meant to visit…” You glare at him, “but I’ve been busy. Its good to finally find you.”
 “You don’t have to play dumb. How long have you been following me. Ive noticed since a month ago.”
 “Hmm you’re slacking. Its been longer than that. You really think I would let my daughter be out and about, not knowing shes safe.”
 “I had hoped the rumors of your death were true. Guess I hoped too much.”
 “Ah yes your little hit on me. Didn’t go as planned did it.” He glances over at the smoke floating in the town miles from us, “Your work I assume.”
 “Did you do that to Trinity?”
 “It wasn’t anything personal. No need to throw a tantrum.”
 You huff and hold yourself back from stabbing right where he stood. “You had no right-“
 George interrupts you, “After the stunt you pulled. Asking Thomas Shelby to kill me in exchange you tell him a few locations. You know what he did when he found me. He shook my hand. The man helps me fake my death, im off to America. Can you guess where?”
 “New York.”
 “That’s right and its bigger and its booming, honey. And here you are sleeping with a man who lies to you, who is no different than me or the other men ive killed or hurt.”
 “Im not-not” You blush at the accusation your father throws to you. You had forgotten for a second how Tommy Shelby was involved in this. You remember asking him and never getting a clear answer. Especially when you were so unsure with what was going on, you should have pressed more. Not been so easy to trust him. You could have been more prepared for this, left the country sooner.
 “Listen, I’m just here to help you-“
 “By locking me up calling me crazy, or was it when you killed my mother, or had me followed or when you killed my friend.”
 “I understand your mad. But honey we are better as a team than not. Remember me and you fighting the world together.” He uses a funny light hearted voice. One that he would use only to manipulate you when you were younger.
 “What do you want from me?”
 He sighs, “I need a peace treaty. And the family’s got this son.-“
 You scoff, “Are you kidding me?”
 “its what best for our family. And honestly you have no choice in the matter. Ill drag you there myself if I have to.”
 “I’d like to see you try.” You pull put your knife and hold it out in attack position.
 “You’re gonna kill me, your old man,” He uses a mockingly sad voice before erupting into a mad laughter, “You might as well do it now cause you wouldn’t want me as your enemy.”
 “I think it might be too late for that.”  You press the knife against your own throat, pressing hard against your skin. You can feel a trickle of warm blood run down. Now George finally panics.
 “Hey, Hey! Don’t do that!” He yells.
 “Walk out of here and don’t turn back.  Now! “You command.
 Your father follows your orders because you knew it as well as he that in this game you were now an important chess piece. And he wouldn’t have no use with a dead bride.
 “I’ll be seeing you very soon.” He says as he walks further and further away. You watch until his figure is nothing more than a blur. That’s when you finally release the grip on your knife.
You sit down on the ground and quietly sob into your hands. You don’t know the time when you finally stop but its still night and still no train. You hear the sound of a lighter flicking on. You curse under your breath as you get up, ready to die tonight if it meant not being in your fathers plan.
 “You are really testing my patience tonight.” You say turning around. Only it wasn’t your father standing there.
 “Cigarette? You look like you could use one.” The deep voice says. And there you are, Face to face once again with Thomas Shelby.
Part One
You woke up several hours later, still in the passenger seat. It had definitely been longer than 2 hours. How were you not in New York yet…Before you could ask, Jason spoke up.
"So…welcome back. It's been a while. A lot has changed."
"I can see that. What happened?"
"Well I met the spider thing. Very helpful, definitely a child. But he said Bats was about 3 hours north of here. In a small town called Croatoa."
"Seriously?"
"I couldn't believe it either. Couldn't even find it on a map…but the kid gave me directions. Should be there in…now." Jason commented as he turned onto a dirt road. You had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
**
You had been in this weird town for a few hours. All you had done was sit on the roof of the hotel and listen. The conversations…something was just off. You couldn't put your finger on exactly what. You were so zoned out that you didn't even hear Jason come up behind you.
"Something is off here. Right?" His voice broke your trance.
"Definitely." You nodded, reassuring him that he wasn't crazy.
"There's no crime here. At all. In the last 10 years. Not even a speeding ticket."
"Well the town is all dirt roads…" The comment was meant to put your minds at rest. It didn't. "Should we even be staying here? Crime does tend to follow us." Jason's bellowing laugh cut through the tension.
"I've already got us another room. About an hour away. It was the closest town to here." You moved to get up but stopped when you noticed Jason wasn't following you.
"Is there something else?" A look of concern graced your features.
"Why am I here? Good ole Bruce doesn't need me. Never has. I don't fit into the mold of his superhero gang. I shouldn't even be alive. Who thought I was worth saving?" It was as if someone dosed him with a truth serum. All the insecurities he felt began to pour out.
"Honestly…I have no idea why you were saved. Then again, why was I? Why didn’t that blast kill me? Why did Tony create something to save me? And why did Bruce teach me how to control the catastrophic energy inside of me?" Now you couldn't stop. There was something about this place. "We need to leave." You were barely able to muster up the words.
**
You still weren't sure how the two of you made it out of town, but as soon as you did it was like a switch flipped.
"By the way, Bruce's way of doing things…it's not always right. You don't need to fit into his mold." Even though the effects wore off, you still remembered everything Jason had said. Everything you had said. Those fears and uncertainties, you don't think you'd ever actually said them aloud. You could tell Jason hadn't either.
"Do you think he's there?"
"It's a pretty small town, I would've heard him…unless there was some underground bunker…" You turned towards Jason, realizing that that was an actual possibility. The rest of the drive was ridden in silence. Neither of you wanted to talk about the things that were said.
You had no idea where Jason went, but it had been hours. The two of you had to come up with a plan. It didn't take long for you to find him in an alleyway wailing on some drug dealer.
"Hey, Hood." You casually walked up next to him, leaning against the adjacent brick wall. He sent one final punch towards the dealer before turning towards you. "Don't you think we have more important matters?" Jason just stared at you, confused. You scoffed and starting walking back to the hotel, as you reached the end of the alley you called out, "If you want a lecture we'll have to find your dear ole dad."
You weren't surprised to hear Jason's footsteps quickly behind you. "Well do you know where to begin?"
"Kinda…I was thinking. And the power to affect people's minds like that has to be constantly going. Especially since it affected us."
"Yeah but that could be anything. A sound, emitting something into the air, even widescale mind control." You let out a defeated sigh as Jason continued. "I can call Miss Martian. If it's the latter."
"Alright, get her on standby. I'm going to call Tony. Maybe he has something we could use if it's a sound or air thing." You stopped dead in your tracks and turned towards Jason. "I just don't get why they would have Bruce. I get that he is inherently violent…but he still helps people. And they wouldn't need him if there was no crime…"
"I…" Jason started walking again, not wanting to think about the answer. "I'll get Tim on it. Just don't go back there until we know more."
Your eyes widened, "Yeah no, of course not."
**
Once you were sure Jason was asleep, you flew just outside the town limits and began circling the town. There had to be something you missed. It took almost 30 minutes for you to notice the sound. You stopped, hovering about 30 feet in the air, as you focused in on the noise. The next thing you knew you were plummeting to the ground, yet you couldn't stop yourself. It seemed as if Jason was at your side as soon as you hit the ground.
"Y/N! Are you kidding me?!"
Your eyes fluttered open to examine the damage around you. "I thought you were asleep."
"And I called bullshit the moment you said you wouldn't come back here." You didn't protest as he scooped you up and gently placed you in the car.
"It's sound." You mumbled as you fought off the headache.
"Guess I'll have to talk to the tin can again." He rolled his eyes, but his expression softened as he watched your face contort in pain. "You okay?"
"Just karma for not listening to the all mighty Jason Todd."
**
A week had passed and it seemed the mission grew stagnant. Tony had developed a device that blocked the sound, which you had already tested, but there were still too many unknowns. Every meeting consisted of hypothesizing different situations and possibilities that could be encountered once everyone was inside.
"Enough already!" You shouted at the arguing heroes. "We could do this for months. It's pointless. We need to go now. Batman may not even be there anymore."
"Oh, uh…he is." Spiderman chimed in.
You furrowed your brow, "How do you know that?"
"I put a tracker on him. It's still there…" As the whole room burst out in laughter, Spiderman just looked around, confused. "What?!" His voice broke through.
"Oh…sweetheart." You began as you regained your composure. "There are three reasons that tracker works. One, he was brainwashed and actually didn't know it was there. Two, he put the tracker on something useless to send you on a wild goose chase. And three, he put the tracker somewhere he wanted you to go."
"Considering the creepy town, I'd rule out the second one." Dick chimed in.
"So do we just split up and find the entrance to the tunnels?" You could tell that Tim was ready to get this mission over, so you started doling out responsibilities.
"Tony starts at the north end, Nightwing and Robin at the east, Red Robin and Spiderman, the west. Red Hood and I will start at the south. We can't go in costume though. It will be too obvious."
"So we must reveal our identities to these inane people?" Damian was not happy with the situation, especially having to work with members of the Avengers.
"Just don’t say your name? We're trying to find Batman, this is more important than your secret identity."
**
You prayed that the sonic dampeners Tony developed would hold for the duration of the mission. You had no idea how long this would take. This situation seemed much more involved than some low level, one-off criminal. It was a demonstration, a practice round.
The town was small enough, so one of the groups had to stumble upon this entrance. The only tricky part was not drawing attention to yourselves. Seven strangers come to town at once…you were hoping whatever brainwashing protocol overlooked this fact. And you were right. No one gave you and Jason a second glance as the two of you strolled down the street. It had been almost an hour before you stumbled upon a potential entrance. As discreetly as possible, you opened the hatch and lowered yourself through the hole.
"So which way do we go?" Jason commented as he followed in suit.
"Left?" You figured you had a 50/50 shot, so you went with your gut. After all, if you went right, you wouldn't be in town for too much longer. "You should probably call the others. Have them rendezvous here, in case we run into trouble."
"Trouble from who? The townies?" You shrugged off his condescending tone. The two of you had been walking for a few minutes when you started to hear footsteps. People were running towards you.
"Uh, Jason…we need to move." Jason didn't bother to argue, as the urgency was pasted over your face. The two of you raced down the corridor until you saw something. "STOP! There's a room. There." You pointed towards the concrete block to your right.
"And does this room have a door?" You could tell by his tone, Jason wasn't afraid to make one. Your eyes scanned around the area until you found it. Not bothering to answer his question, you rushed towards the opening.
"And it's locked."
"Not for long," Jason smirked as knelt down to work on the lock. It was opened in seconds. Your eyes searched around the room in awe. There was video and audio of the entire city. Even inside people's homes.
"How do we --" Your question was interrupted by a loud banging against the door. "Just subdue, don't maim or murder." The comment was a reminder to both yourself and Jason. These were innocent unsuspecting townspeople, not criminals.
"Didn't need to be said!" You shoot a glare his way, to which he responds with a shrug of the shoulders. Just as the two of you braced for a fight, the banging stopped. Seconds later, Tim swung open the door.
"In a bit of a bind?"
"Does it look like we know how to operate this?" You pointed towards the various machines behind you. Tim nodded and got to work.
**
"So, no evil mastermind or Batman." You had convinced Jason to come back to the hotel with you and let the rest of them deal with the groggy and confused townspeople.
"Guess not."
"There's probably going to be more towns like this. You'll have to keep an eye out…"
"Oh. So you're leaving Earth then?" Jason's chest sank at the thought.
"Is there a reason I should stay?" You knew the answer, but you wanted him to say it. You wanted to make sure you weren't imagining everything.
"I can probably think of a few…"
