One of the many cool things about the Honorable Ones is that Zeb and Kallus both save each other when they don't have to anymore. Zeb didn't have to jump down onto that bonzami to save Kallus from falling and being eaten, but he did. Kallus didn't have to shoot the bonzami instead of Zeb, but he did. That's an entirely different layer of meaning than if they had only saved each other's lives while they needed each other to get out of the cave and it's such a brilliant touch.
Everyone talks about the meteorite piece in The Honnorable ones, but no one seems to have picked up on the work that was done around it during that episode. So I'm going to:
Initially, Kallus tries to keep warm with the lantern that was in the escape pod. As well as not being very effective, the lantern doesn't last long. The battery froze after a few minutes and it went out.
Then Zeb decides to give Kallus the famous piece of meteorite he has just found in the cave to keep warm. Kallus will keep this piece of meteorite once he is rescued by the Empire.
These two objects (the lantern and the meteorite) represent the values of the Empire and the Rebellion respectively. The lantern is artificial, fragile and ephemeral. The meteorite, on the other hand, is much more mystical: it was found in a desolate place, we don't know exactly what it is, and yet it shines with a thousand lights and heats up much better than the lantern. It lasts for an indeterminate length of time, since it's still glowing when Kallus takes it back to his cabin. And best of all, it's Zeb who gives it to him, after making him understand that the empire is based on the terror it inspires, and not on security and stability as Kallus believed. While the lantern is as fragile and artificial as the empire's values, the meteorite represents hope, the faith on which the rebellion is based, and humanity in general.
And for those who think I'm seeing an interpretation where there is none, look at the colours of the two objects: they're identical. It's the same orange-yellow, associated with energy overall. It's no coincidence, the creators of this episode knew what they were doing.
I LOVE when Zeb is trying to scurry up the walls. At first Kallus is just sitting by the escape pod, looking out like he's kinda hiding next to it.
Then there's the teasing joy of "You're going to hurt yourself!" It's the first... relatively kind thing Kal has done. Not kind, but there's joy in the teasing, not malice, not hatred, not the voice he uses for the rebels. Just... teasing. And Zeb replies in kind, to shut up.
And he tries again, and Kal rises to his feet despite the pain, and he just chuckles when Zeb falls.
It's adorable and teasing and I love them(I told my best friend I needed to tell him about them sometime today. He's a blond haired Alexander with a weird spelling. And gay. I clearly have a type between him and Kal is my inside joke with myself)
Kallus is an intelligence agent. So tell me why I got to sit here and listen to him panic about the cold setting in when he should damn well know that if they took that heater/meteorite into the escape pod and closed the lid they would stay warmer for longer.
still can't believe that Zeb and Kallus were going at it so hard in that escape pod that they managed to damage one of its thrusters from INSIDE the escape pod.
