there are many reasons to remove bad game pokemon masters from your definition of "pokemon canon" but my personal breaking point was sygna suit cynthia's story, where gira "banished for its violence" Fucking tina is essentially likened to a well meaning doggy. Fuck that

I’ve been playing a little more Shadow 05 lately and I’m realizing that while yeah, this is Shadow’s game, I think the game could’ve benefitted a lot from exploring how the rest of the cast is handling the Black Arm invasion.
Up to this point in the series, Sonic has only ever fought robots, be they Badniks or GUN mechs. He’s duked it out with some rivals like Knuckles and eldritch beings like Chaos, sure, but they were either on par with him or didn’t take much lasting damage (outside of the Biolizard/Finalhazard I guess lol), and he only ever had to fight one of them at a time. But the Black Arms are different. They’re not mechanical. They’re alive. Worse than that, there’s a lot of them. Sonic spends at least two levels back to back (Westopolis and Lethal Highway) having to comb through the city and kill as many of these strange aliens as he can whether or not Shadow helps him, his fur drenched in their thick green blood. Sure, they’re all a part of an alien hivemind, but it’s still…different than what he’s used to. I wonder how he feels about that (same goes for Tails).
During the level Air Fleet, Black Doom mentions having personally placed the airships/temples in Glyphic Canyon to the planet over 2,000 years ago. So not only is Black Doom really, really old, he’s also got history with Earth/Mobius/Sonic’s World/whatever. Knuckles and Rouge pride themselves on being treasure hunters, with Knuckles in particular seemingly having a strong interest in old archeology. Makes you wonder if they’d at least heard of the Black Arms through some ancient texts or stone mural or something like that. Hell, if we wanna go really deep, we could also look at Tikal—she would’ve been there during Black Doom’s first visit. If she was at all conscious inside the Master Emerald and/or had the ability to leave it without the emerald shattering, there’s a chance she could have met or even tried to fight Black Doom. Hell, what even happened to Angel Island during the invasion we see ingame?
Even Cream could get something to contribute. Ingame you only ever see her once; you have to help Amy find her in Cryptic Castle as a part of that level’s hero mission. But that raises the question: why was Cream in a place like Cryptic Castle all by herself to begin with? It feels out of character for her, she’s usually not the type to get lost, but then you realize that she’s a little girl in the middle of an alien invasion. The Black Arms could’ve destroyed her home already, and she wanted to find some place isolated to hide. Where’s Vanilla in all of this, by the way?
Granted the game probably needed to address the elephant in the room of why no one ever sits down and talks to Shadow about his past/amnesia before it decides to tackle the emotions of its supporting cast, but still. Fun to think about.

TMI: Already one chapter in! I'll keep chapters shorter this time so it's easier to read/follow along. The episodes are still ~ 10 pics plus text and I won't change it. Since this is a pure story blog, I don't hurt anyone by telling their story just the way it fits us best. Which is also the reason why I don't put long posts under a cut/keep reading. If you read the story from the beginning and click on 'keep reading', tumblr kicks you to another tab and that completely ruins the flow. About inZOI I can just say how utterly amazed I am of how good this game already is in its early access. From my story teller's POV it's just perfect and it only will get more amazing with more content. Like in the Sims, I don't care much about gameplay and stuff since I make my own, so I'm only interested in new worlds, clothes and objects. And the latter two aren't even that important anymore since inZOI offers the colorwheel and I can create unique fashion and furniture right ingame whilst playing! That's so amazing. My greatest worries have also already been dissolved. With a very early patch we can disable aging (phew!). My other fear was that they won't look good ingame, but they do. They are utterly beautiful. I spent the whole first chapter with only Jack from the main cast and a few side characters but I still pause the game in awe and take pics of him from each and every angle omg What will it be once the others come along? ^^' Out of fear they could die, I set the ingame day to 24 hours and I kept it that way after the no-more-aging-patch. I enjoy having enough time to actually play again. Gardening, painting, cooking and just following them through the open world/city. In Sims 4 the day already was half over after trying to make them mount their horses, so I just cheated their needs and hurried to take screenshots to make the most of the daylight (or night) before it ended and I had to wait another day to finally finish the episode, such a stress. And it could have been easily fixed by just giving us options omg Yeah, I'm completely hooked by inZOI and even though I cried after the last episode of our Sims 4 story, I never looked back. I already said a few times to my daughter 'I'm so happy' and I am <3 It's a joy to make the world 'our own' again, like I did in the Sims 3. It just feels 'whole' to be finally able to just visit a store or your friends without loading screens. And I can just as easily switch back to the other family members.

I got my partner Cyberpunk back in the summer and he played a Corpo origin only to get ajumpscared by Elon Musk who cameos in the origin as some weird guy who approaches you in the bathroom trying to be your friend.
(Elon begged CD Project Red to be in the game because his then-wife Grimes is in the game as Lizzy Wizzy)
Just a silly experience I wanted dto share with you, glad you're enjoying the game.
This is like that one time I wanted to go bowling for my birthday, felt lazy and stayed in bed, watched the news the next morning to find out that oh, the bowling place was set on fire and burned down.
I almost chose corpo, almost chose corpo. But then I read a reddit comment that said Nomad is the perfect origin for someone who's experiencing the game for the first time. Especially since you start outside the city, then slowly get introduced into it.
I owe that reddit comment my life because let me tell you if I opened that game and came face to face with musky himself, I would've uninstalled and never looked back. I would've legit closed the game, opened Infinity nikki, and just frolicked around flower fields in a ballgown dress until the poison is purged from my brain.

Also, the drawn joker on the wall is literally the exact style of the joker cards ingame.


I've been playing Balatro for two months before and I even considered buying cyberpunk like. I genuinely never expected this.
I played with the cyberpunk cards ingame... I saw Johnny, Jackie, and a third person in Balatro before I even met them in cyberpunk. I had no idea who they were, i thought they were just funny guys.
Why the spades suit? Is there a reason?

but dammit man :( Should've let Jackie be the king. Like I get it yeah yeah Johnny's the Rock legend blah blah idgaf Jackie deserves a crown!

ok so this could 100% be chalked up to general aesthetic or visibility but is there a reason that the Anya and Curly letterboxes aren’t their ingame text colours? like the purple for Anya feels a little closer to her warm personality, and maybe the blue text that we see in game is a cool colour since most of the time playing as Jimmy she’s barely acknowledged/no warmth. or yeah maybe it’s just aesthetics lol
It's honestly a bit of both! You're right on the nose Anon, personally to me, Curly fits blue better and Anya purple, and they're both complimentary colours of each other as well! which is just a cute little Curlyanya moment from me while still also satisfying my needs for aesthetics and If you haven't already noticed, I'm really big on that. I'm actually Protanomaly red-green colour blind! So I try my best to make everything I do look extra pretty ⸜( ´ ꒳ ` )⸝

Ok so I have a theory about Ib that i briefly talked about in my twitter last year but I want to post it here with more information.
The theory is about the creation of the Fabricated World.
There's a bunch of random texts and books around the game that explains more about this place, but one book in the original game, (that for some reason didn't make to the Remake) called my attention.
There's a diary in a bookshelf in a trap with three mannequins, it says:
Based on the fact that this entry was written about an artist reflecting about his artworks and people's belief in the paranormal, I believe that this diary belongs to Guertena right before his death.
Guertena was in some kind of terminal state, and for a way to become "immortal", he decided to put his spirit in his creations.
And for that, he made the Fabricated World.

An enormous painting containing the majority of his paintings and sculptures. And, after he died, the Fabricated World became alive.
It was said ingame that Mary was Guertena final work, but I believe that Mary was his last published work. Because everyone that got in contact with the painting got sucked into the Fabricated World.
There are reports of other people that got into the Fabricated World and were trying to survive it.
Also, it's not the only evidence, even Mary implied that other people got into the Fabricated World, and most importantly, they never got out.
Which brings me to another theory of mine: The people who get stuck in the Fabricated World and die there, becomes one of Guertena's Work.
One spirit isn't enough to maintain the place living, so the Fabricated World kidnaps and takes the soul from the people from the outside.
They get there, their flowers (which represents the soul) gets torn off, and they lose their individuality for the gallery.
And this is why the works are so obssessed in taking the flower from the protagonist. It could be that, but also because they're in some kind of "zombie state" and desperately tries to claim the other soul/flower as their own.
The statues "Death of the Individual" could be a foreshadowing of this phenomenon, the loss of one's identity to become a piece of art.
It also happens with Garry in the ending "Forgotten Painting", where he dies in the Fabricated World and became part of the works of Guertena.
And that's it! It's probably obvious but I never see people really explicitly talk about it so yeah!! thanks for reading!!

thanks to the prev post i completely forgot it was The date until i was alerted of it
indeed its beans birthday!! heres the updated version of my maxis creation dates screenie
and the grox, which were July 3, 2008 7:17:12, show at 07/02/08 ingame, at least for me. so the actual hours in the day were very similar to beam so it was most likely also compiled on june 13, even though the converted timestamp says june 14
june 13 is the birthday of like . 115 creations total. and you know whats a good way to show them?? yeah just pastebin
with some dates missing cuz i havent put them there. but there. thats all of the creations whose birthday it is today
the first number is the timestamp, the second one is its asset id, then theres the creation type, creation name, author name, and timestamp converted
unfortunately, i wanted to upload the whole txt file but couldnt because it thinks theres "potentintially offensive" somewhere and im not checking all 2601 lines of this to see what the hell its talking about. so thisll have to wait until some later time...

side note, does spore calculate the timestamps based on a timezone somewhere in america (or what, australia)?? like. it shows as july second ingame. i can see it. it also got my timezone wrong i think
either that or its calculating from january 0th? idk the specifics
except all of the creature creator demo timestamps convert to February 12, 2008 21:06:29 to 21:08:24, and show as february 12 ingame as well...,

hello hello i just wanted to say i love your rock art and you're hilarious and i have a question.. apologies if you've explained this somewhere before but i'm curious if you believe rock was adopted (and along with that, what's going with the picture of the child who is not rock and does rock dye his hair, etc.) and what other rock headcanons you have that you haven't shared yet, if you're willing to share them. (also thank you for doing the 30 days of hm challenge--it's making me so happy to see your daily rock art)

ohhhh man the adoption theory… i’ve been trying to get to the bottom of this for so long, this answer might get pretty long sorry about that. i’m really glad you asked so i have an excuse to talk abt it :D
⚠️spoilers / taking clown man seriously warning⚠️
i’m thinking rock was first designed as a guest at the inn, but that late in development the connection between him and tei+lou was added
looking at the concept art for tei, his bio says 「元旅人だったせいか、ナミやロックのような人物を好んで泊めるようだ。」 which roughly translates “perhaps due to being a former traveler himself, he seems to enjoy hosting people like nami and rock” uh... hosting, huh? travelers, huh?
tbh rock’s original concept art/description feels to me like. he was meant to be the annoying trust fund kid prodigal son who is blowing his rich parents money to travel on the longest vacation in the world. and everyone responsible for creating this character hates him so so so much
so i think some of the Themes about rock were unintentional at least for the first game, but were rolled with for anwl with the total revision of his character + addition of his heart events and rival heart events. especially with his 2nd rival event with lumina, ESPECIALLY with the ingame rumor lumina isn’t actually related to romana
the photo was there from awl though… so maybe the idea was meant to be hinted at in awl
stuff that makes little sense to me if rock was their son—going from well-tread to lesser tread:
shares no physical features with them aside from having darker skin tone than most of the cast
rock even brings up the fact that he looks nothing like his parents just to get defensive and say it’s none of anyone’s business
does not speak like either of his parents. more apparent in jp. he sounds. “trendy” (he tries)
tei and lou didn’t design the inn with a room for a child… his ass is NOT supposed to be in that room!! it’s for van!!
rock remembers moving to the valley for the first time but there’s not even a hint he was part of their travels, even though tei/lou were traveling until reaching the valley (you’d think rock’d jump at the chance to brag about being well traveled)
the inn is older than the farm your dad and takakura started but rock says he never met your dad (lou and even lumina did meet him)
we can now actually look at all the photos in the inn of tei and lou and their travels, none of them have rock in them.
which brings me to the infamous photo…

other than the fact it isn’t rock, we don’t know anything for sure. both the original and remake have scenes where tei talks about this picture (strange hoe / blessed milker) but he never acknowledges the kid in the photo at all, just talks about the country they visited. it’s bizarre.
the jp flavor text when examining the picture says 「夫婦ふたりの間にうつっている小さな男の子���ロックではないようです…」— “It seems that the little boy between the couple is not Rock…”.
there’s a ton of room for guessing, but personally i hc they lost a child. based on what i can see of the picture, the kid has the same hair color and skin color as tei and lou, and a similar build to them…
taking into account that rock dyes his hair, rock’s / his kids’ natural hair color is actually the same exact hex color code as cecilia’s…
if the fact that he dyes his hair is meant to say he’s their son, his natural hair would be black, yeah? but instead it’s cecilia brown
rock’s son also is described oddly specifically as “looking exactly like a small Rock”. you know who doesn’t look like rock’s kid? the kid in the photo :(
funny enough even in anwl it never occurred to me that rock was a natural blond. his eyebrows are dark and … damn those roots. i guess i just assumed he was dyeing his friggin toddlers hair
i also hc they’ve known rock longer than he’s been part of their household, and that he’s either the child of a friend they traveled with in the past or a kid they met in the “country far to the south” they traveled to a long time ago. he reminded them of their lost kid in some way
phew i hope that wasn’t too long… i’ll end on some

similar explanation as to why the guest beds are blocking both balcony doors. they literally had to rockproof the inn
moved out to live independently as soon as possible without any planning, proceeded to get fired and banned from every workplace in the world (failed salaryman)
surprisingly good vocabulary, piss on the poor reading comprehension though

My personal Doom "manifesto" (yes, calling it that)
This is a list of things i would do if i had control over the series (which will never happen)
This post was in my drafts for a while, so some info is already outdated by the time this comes out.
On one hand, stuff everyone could agree is good, on another, some very specific and weird stuff.
That and a lot of this stuff relates to my OCD and awkward preferences but in a logic of "nothing is lost, something is gained".
Also a logic of "canonicity" as in "how canon/official is something".
By the way, SOME of this stuff here can be found in the tag "important" but even other tags like "opinions" and "idea" include stuff in here.
In fact, there's probably stuff i could've added in this post that i forgot as of writing this.
Not only that but as i keep making posts in this blog, maybe i could even have new ideas and concepts that could/should/would've been on this post but may never be added, who knows.
(there's also the fact that Tumblr has a character and link limit)
Anyway:
Concept art
Something i think would be neat is "preserving" concept art in a game, like ingame galleries.
Specially for stuff like unused designs, early iterations, unused sprites, ideas, promo material, cover art etc.
Could even be for stuff that may never be used, so the inclusion of the art could still count as "saving an idea".
Because even the art books (So far, there's of D3, 2016 and DE) and stuff like the id vault in D+D2 don't cover anything.
And with the older games or even mobile spin-offs, i'd probably have galleries for sprites that are used (Sometimes, because they're not "fully shown", like how in D2RPG, the Holy Water Pistol pickup sort of noclips with a ceiling).
(or even the D1 intermission screens and how the buildings are covered by text and the blood spots... again depends on how OCD one can get)
But yeah, there's always concept art and sketches you'd have to look for in social media of artists even.
Also art for promo material like box art, since D64 has that unused cover art.
If classic Doom ever gets an "art of classic Doom" sort of book, consider: sprite rips, unused sprites, photos of models and assets, even concept art like the recently shown D64 artworks or even concept art/materials for the cancelled 90's Doom movie and Doom 3DO FMV stuff.
So much history to cover.
Similar to this is model showcases
Specially for a re-release of Doom 3 (that is actually good)
Like showing off models of Doomguy/marine, demons, weapons and maybe some other stuff.
Even some pre-existing examples could be improve on.
A specific example is showing the inside of Doomguy's helmet because there's always stuff that has details we barely/never see.
Manuals and booklets
Similar to above, since there's always texts that could relate to "lore" or at least sound interesting and with personality.
Maybe even the use of fonts and the style too.
Like how D2's manual states where cybernetic demons come from, maybe even Final Doom mentioning Doomguy's pickup truck or the non-canon 2022 date in SNES' manual.
Maybe one issue is console ports because of how the original booklets mention computer buttons or those of specific consoles but still.
Speaking of texts worth preserving: Master Levels for D2 came with texts that people read through DOOM-IT at the time.
I aslo recall there being a "lore book" of DE.
Speaking of lore, they might as well include even "outside lore" like when Hugo Martin said stuff in interviews or streams.
"Museum"?
Depending on how much stuff i think should be preserved and is about Doom history, this idea could be cool.
Like something out of Ratchet and Clank.
Also, even the music and sounds like a jukebox or playlist.
(even for unused sounds like cut character voice lines in DE or Reznor's D3 sounds)
Now speaking of showing off cut content: Levels and maps, which is more complicated.
It’d probably use The Cutting Room Floor and some community members like MarphyBlack as helpful reference.
Ports
There's some stuff that hasn't been ported, like the PS1 version of Doom and Final Doom.
Some probably don't have reverse engineering projects too.
With the RPG games, i'd think of the following:
Both versions of each game, since they had more than one version.
Preserving D2RPG's comic
Art galleries with all sprites
Even the "touch" controls/UI/sprites for D2RPG, at least if there's a Switch port (or in general, if it returns to mobile and doesn't go away)
Also, you know the computer in the Fortress of Doom with the Doom ports?
Imagine an upgrade to that including all classic Doom's and even the mobile spin-offs and both Sigil's...
(i could say even Romero's E1M4/8 deserve to be "canon/official" but at that point, i'd hire him again and fund whatever he'd want to do with the Doom name)
And even the classic Heretic/Hexen/Quake games (expansions included) just because Doom already took enough from its brothers lol.
On the subject of porting episodes/mapsets/wads: Make sure Master Levels are seperate (Like a menu selection for each map/This is also because of how Bloodsea Keep had a missing linedef/script thing that worked because of the map 7 slot) and come with their original texts (So people know the lore of the Cyberdemon who became a Doomguy).
Speaking of preserving content: Something about showing the original TITLEPICs and credits screens (because i recall BFG edition being guilty of changing it)
(Maybe if we give people options to change stuff, like the 2 menu themes in DE)
If DE gets a special edition release a decade later, i'd like to include stuff that was planned but cut like specific podiums, skins, icons, master levels, even the "gold bosses" etc.
When it comes to the Bob Ross skin: Change the afro to a painter beret and then put the afro on a disco skin.
So you can save both the clothing and afro just by seperating them.
Speaking of modern console ports: Keyboard and mouse support should be considered.
On the subject of classic Doom ports: Maybe looking into the "things" limit, because i think Final Doom had stuff flickering due to that.
(I also recall that Sigil, when it was added to the Unity ports, ended up affecting the limits of stuff like linedefs and things in general, which is also tied to some of the addons, no?)
"Backporting" Doom related stuff from other games
Like when Fallout 4 had that Creation Club thing about Doom or Doomguy's cosmetics and Doom related stuff in Quake Champions or other games.
I guess even using the Harbinger of Doom from Wolf RPG counts.
What about cut or obscure content like PS2's Quake 3 port and the unused Doom lines?
Preserving even the merch and other media
Like an ingame gallery option for THE Doom comic or digital stans of real life Doom merch that existed (Which is like the opposite of how DE had collectibles ingame turned into real merch).
Because there's obscure examples like the Symbiote Doomguy/Phobos with a BFG dolls or the "Son of Phobos" snowboard with unique artwork.
We gotta make sure those scans/recreations of the real merch are accurate.
As for the novels or the movies? maybe sure...
What about websites like the lost UAC website based on the RPG games and D3 or Martian Buddy's site?
But what about stuff like interviews or promo art? I guess there's a point when wikis could do that stuff, specially if for example: Interviews with a certain website means the website itself has its own brand, therefore copyright.
And there's specific videos like those of Gregor Punchatz showing off the Manc and SMM models during D2's development.
Game preservation in general
This applies to even game updates or "events", which is notorious in Doom Eternal even for minor things like that Doog easter egg
And let's not forget skins/banners/etc and HOW to get them.
Specially with stuff like Slayers Club, Twitch Prime or the now gone BethNet or whatever you call it.
Or 2016's SnapMap, multiplayer and online stuff like leaderboards.
Even D3's MP didn't have proper off-line with bots, right?
I think any game with online stuff should have off-line options so the content is safe.
Specially with bots.
And specially if bots can be programmed to react/interact with speficic things.
Think of how 2016 MP has the Blursphere, Hologram, Threat Sensor/Pulse and smoke grenades: I don't think the current MP bot AI reacts to that.
Same probably for BattleMode.
The older games are simple in that regard i think.
The mobile games are mostly lost except for the reverse engineering ports by some fans but Resurrection is totaly lost (maybe).
Edit: I think a file of Resurrection might be on the Internet Archive, so hopefully something is done to save that game.
Mighty Doom should have a "finished/off-line" version that has all its available content and can be access without monetization or online.
In fact, when it does get that "finished" version: I like to think it could've been a minigame inside a bigger Doom game.
VFR? I dunno, did it have a "not VR" option?
Another thing: Game updates that rebalance the game, which affects strategies and stuff, which honestly is kinda weird in singleplayer games and feels like a "George Lucas" thing except Lucas' edited movies didn't replace the older ones.
Also related to game updates: When DE replaced Mick Gordon's theme with the new one from TAG and then id added an option to switch between one and the other.
An idea i had for 2016 was a horde mode where it would use the maps and contents from MP (and there'd be bots based mimicking players, that would use the weapons and randomly generated armor parts to show off the armor).
Restoring cut content?
There's always unused/cut ideas i like to think should be in a game and not just as gallery images or museum showcases: Actually used.
Like a D64 episode that uses its unused enemies, weapon (destined to be a flamethrower) and level themes
Or a D3 expansion with Trent Reznor's sounds, the Arachnotron, Birdman etc
Honestly, this stuff could at least be spin-off/expansion material because "MAIN" games will obviously prioritize new ideas.
But i like to think so much stuff in the cutting room floor or some underworld of ideas deserves a second change.
Who knows, maybe there could be a classic Doom spin-off that's like a canon/official Doom Delta where DrPySpy helps make the Doom that Tom Hall wanted to make.
Also, if the cancelled Doom 4 is restored: I'd prefer restoring all the other cut stuff first just to be sure.
Expansions?
I like to think D3 could have something by the people behind that Phobos mod (and at the same time, its sequels so it could be on par with 2016 having Eternal and TDA).
But even with DE, i always felt it'd be cool if it had expansions with either ARC/Sentinel soldiers or even Crash and Phobos.
I already said D64 having the cut content in extra levels.
Speaking of Crash/Phobos
I'd be interesting integrating them in Doom, not just playable in DE expansions but even have their own classic Doom episodes, skins like their classic armors and collectible toys.
Remastering designs
Instead of "remaking" the old games, i prefer when a brand new Doom just picks up old designs and modernizes them.
And there's always old little things that may not return like the UAC with blue carpets.
I like to think old designs can be "remastered" in different ways like how FIREBLU is either fire, crystal, frozen magma or something else.
Like a question that could have multiple answers.
The idea of remastering things in different ways could require different artists.
Doom 3 better edition
Again, someone can find my D3 re-release idea post where i wrote what i think it should be, as opposed to what we got in the BFG Edition and later releases.
Third person camera options?
Because i'm obsessed with the idea of designs being "shown" that leads to the gallery stuff, so even this one sort of counts
Something similar is camera modes.
Maybe noclip counts as "exploring how a game looks" because even some classic Doom console ports remove that cheat
Skins/themes of pickups
Basically, exploring the themes of Doom's worlds through gameplay items, which is something that was always fun in Doom
Also as a response to modern Doom making its pickups "videogamey" because of the idea that these ideas are supposed to "exist in their worlds".
(And to have a better look at the quality of some models and appreciate them more)
But it's fun to imagine weapons, ammo, power ups etc in variations based on UAC, Hell, Sentinel or Urdak.
"World expansion in gameplay"
In general, i'd expand Doom's worlds/themes through gameplay: Pickups/weapons/etc under specific themes, interactive stuff like vehicles and weapons or enemies and even locations based on these worlds. And this sort of "theme/world expansion" doesn't have to be exclusive to a specific version of the Doom universe because in some ways, certain ideas, as usual, may not work in some versions of lore/style/gameplay/etc.
Quality of life additions
You know how classic Doom sprites have certain issues like missing pixels, missing rotations or even the wrong blood in Cacos and Hell nobles?
I wonder if some port even considered adding them, even as an option just because.
In general, think of anything by fans considered a "fix" like how people fixed the missing yellow key in TNT's map 31.
Or even stuff like brightmaps?
Modding
Important, even if there's legal stuff behind ever releasing source codes.
Gotta make sure people can do the most with these games.
Also, save SnapMap.
"From influencee to influenced"
You know how Doom 3 even copied the Gravity Gun or modern Doom may have taken its platforming from Turok?
I'd unironically push that further.
Consider that as the "daddy of FPS" honoring its off-springs, specially dead franchises.
But also as a way to make Doom look like a spoiled child that gets all the toys.
It'd make Doom feel expanded with how many gameplay features exist.
Both Doomguy and the demons with expanded movesets for crossovers even.
"Canonizing fanfiction, even if basic ideas everyone had"
Or ideas basic enough that feel like id themselves could've thought out.
Because when people want to see the series grow, they probably think of what they want to see and what's already put in various mods or is treated as canon.
A lot in Doom modding and fandom already feels like stuff that id could/would/should've done, like an alt timeline of the series.
If we can have Doomguy say "rip and tear", i don't see why he also can't do the Skulltag taunt sound.
That and how people forget that concepts like the mere term "Doomguy" is fanmade.
Spin-off galore
I feel a lot of my ideas (and others') would work better in spin-offs, because it's almost like a "less serious" area.
Like one thing is a mainline game where you have to think of the whole picture and how fresh it has to be.
But with spin-offs, you can either do things a bit more casual, for the sake of fun, throwing stuff and see what it sticks, or even do out there stuff like how the RPG phone games are turned based.
A specific thing i'd explore in Doom spin-offs is anything "sand box" related: Like side modes where you explor gameplay mechanics or toy with stuff for fun, like pitching demons against each other.
Emphasising on different interpretations, lore included
As usual, i keep saying stuff about how Doom's setting is fun to make different versions of and even lore applies to it.
Plenty of ideas i've had in this blog and will continue to have (or even some that i stole)
I talked so much about Doom's potential for versatility that, if i had control over the series, i'd unironically milk it and make it huge.
But at least one could admit it'd be the most "content packed" FPS series.
All these enemies, weapons, gameplay features and ideas.
Like by checking my "idea" tag, you can find a lot of stuff that i'm sure people could agree are cool.
Or even ideas from others.
Maybe it's a good thing i don't control the series whatsoever, because this feels like it'd be putting so many people on crunch mode, since it includes stuff most wouldn't consider that important.
What about Quake or other series?
Yeah, maybe i should consider the same.
Just think of what i said about Doom and then look at Quake, then make something similar in case i don't do it myself.
Same for others.

Doesn’t ingame information about Hilichurls say that only after the cataclysm their numbers increased?
I'm not the best person to ask about this because I'm not a lore expert, but IIRC there's some conflicting info around that which may be early-installment weirdness: a lot of the earliest bits, especially those I recall reading in Liyue, strongly imply that hilichurls gather around any old ruins and may be the descendants of any old civilizations, while Caribert strongly implies that they came about specifically as a curse on mixed-blood Khaenri'ahans (something I happily ignore and/or fudge for fanfic purposes all the time XD). On the third hand, maybe Celestia's done a lot of cursing now-dead peoples and Khaenri'ah is just the latest.... Regardless, we know the curse upon Khaenri'ah happened during/after the Cataclysm, so yeah, either way hilichurls' numbers would increase after it!
Does anyone with a better memory and/or tolerance for trawling through old lore text want to weigh in?

grumbles about tumblr not wanting me to post something again
(these were all showerthoughts, literally)
prefacing this saying all of this is me throwing my brainstorming at you because otherwise it's gonna live rent-free in my head. No expectation that you actually implement any of this, especially if it's inconvenient or would be difficult to code or otherwise wouldn't fit well in the IF.
1. Someone asked at some point (either here or on the COG forum, idr) if we could choose for Dime to have all 4 of the juice appearance traits, and you said having a multiple-selection menu there wouldn't have the same "punch"/would feel like an interruption. Would it be possible to add a menu for this in the stats page that unlocks after we pick Dime's juice appearance trait ingame? 2. On a related note, can we have more interactions/mentions of other characters' reactions to pallid eyes Dime? It's a very noticeable trait but I haven't seen much response to it ingame 3. Bit of a specific one, for nodes!Dime; this one would probably be the most work out of everything I've suggested so far, and I don't know how many people would find it useful, so no worries if you don't implement it. Would it be feasible to add a toggle into the stats menu that modifies how Dime produces/reabsorbs(?) the nodes? If toggled off (default), no change, but if toggled on, it swaps out the nodes' text to be along the lines of Dime producing the nodes by tearing off chunks of their membrane/tendrils/etc that then become independent, and the nodes returning into Dime's body by kinda being "subsumed" into the rest of their membrane, or something? I love the nodes and I want to play more with them, but Dime producing them by vomiting them back up and then having to choke them back down again is a bit much for me- mostly brought this one up in case it would be helpful to anyone else with a similar issue. 4. Speaking of nodes, it would be kinda cute if they were mentioned as forming a clot to keep Dime from bleeding out after becoming Saint Paradigm- instead of the membrane clotting up, it's just a hole full of upset flesh lumps doing their very best to keep all of Dime's blood and ichor where it's supposed to be :P
Hm. I dunno. That'd technically work, I just sort of want to do specific things/references at certain points and I guess it just doesn't feel quite right including an 'all of the above' ?
Oh, right! Yeah so - I've been a little low on the reactivity with certain features so far. The eyes thing was actually intentional because essentially you have a team where two members look very unusual (Kay, Teddie), one is living with those two (Wil) and a fifth can change their appearance for fun (Mal). They mostly wouldn't get that bothered by it, basically. That said I've just left a note for myself to at least have a dialogue choice to say something similar to the "just thinking about how we match" to Kay regarding having weird eyes.
This may be doable! It'd be a chunk of work but I do like the idea of including a toggle like that because I know the nodes are really quite extreme.
That's cute. I've made a note about that.
Just in general regarding people's suggestions: there are a few things I like the idea of a lot and some of those are less feasible to implement than others. Even for stuff I do want to add I'm trying to hold off the urge to tinker because I don't wanna get bogged down on refinements when I'm still in first draft, and anything I change I need to make sure then keeps continuity with everything else.
So I definitely want to add things and tidy other stuff up, I'm just keeping myself from editing too heavily as I'm already susceptible to rabbit holes. Such as current dialogue tree I'm working on, which was intended to be a short and sweet thing and has blown up into a little interaction scene per teammate.
