#the kindest soul and amazing writer

Life is wild sometimes. I made a small decision almost a year ago, based on a recommendation of one of the most positive individuals to ever grace my life so far, and I firmly believe that it has changed the course of my life. The decision was to sign up for a class about fantasy writing and publishing that my university was offering, which is the exact genre I so desperately want to have a career in (I want to be a writer you see). That fall I took the 8 week class and it happened to be taught by none other than the absolutely wonderful, utterly amazing fantasy author Alex Rowland (aka @ariaste). If you asked myself or any of my peers, we will happily tell you that this class was one of the comfiest, kindest, most encouraging academic experiences we have ever had and that it has changed our lives. Anyone who has taken at least one creative writing class in their life will tell you of the horrors that ruthlessly plague them and all sorts of traumatic incidents endured. This class was a soothing balm to a disheartened soul with trampled ambitions. You might be wondering where I'm going with this? Well, when you take a class with an author, they tend to gush rather happily about their work. It did not take long for me to know in my heart of hearts that I NEEDED to get my hands on Alex's latest book, A Taste of Gold and Iron (aka ATOGAI). And when I finally got the perfect chance to read it a little over a month ago, when I tell you, it was chapter five when I became undeniably aware that this book had snatched my heart and I would gladly let it have it for the rest of my life. If I hadn't already bought all of Alex's books on a strong hunch that I would absolutely, completely and utterly fall in love with ATOGAI, I would have definitely right after I finished that chapter. This is inarguably one of the best books I have ever read, checking all my boxes (including ones I didn't even know I had). I don't think it's possible to praise it enough because it deserves it all. The wait I endured before I could read it was so worth it and I will be forever grateful for the sheer chance that it and it's author entered into my life. It shattered my high expectations and I will never be the same and couldn't be happier about it. Now, I still have to read the other books that Alex has written (and I will savor them like a piece of the finest of desserts and I haven't the slightest doubt, despite that I tend to be more on the quiet side, I will be absolutely mouthing off about them to anyone who will listen), but I want to specifically highlight their upcoming book, Running Close to the Wind (aka RCW). Because I was in their class and a part of their Discord, I have been treated to several chapters of the book and I can very firmly tell you that you need this in your life. It's terribly funny, utterly vibrant, very queer, full of gremlin chaos and pirate shenanigans, all good and wonderful things, right? I knew I needed it in my life half way through Alex reading chapter two to us. It comes out in June of this year and I so highly recommend you give it a look see. Disclaimer: There are so many of amazing writers out there and if I could I would list every single writer on this platform! You guys are truly amazing, talented and brilliant and I wish the best for everyone.

First I would like to mention @cssnder, my first ever mutual and such an amazing writer. Her writing reminds me so much of Donna Tartt's. Her words feel like true magic and with every snippet I read I fall in love a bit more with her characters and prose. Also one of the kindest souls I've ever met here...

I also would like to call out @ivaspinoza.. She's amazing. Not only with her words but also with herself. She always finds nice words and encourages me to keep going with my passion. If you read this I hope you know that I'm so thankful to have met you.

Not to forget @corporalicent. Her Helnik fanfic is one of my all time favourites and I'm so thankful for her story, but also for her and how she always fills my feed with so much amazing content. Author Love Letter!! Eldritcher <3

Gosh. I love eldritcher's works. One of the funniest/kindest/brilliantest folks in fandom and I am just excite when I get a new fic from them because it's guaranteed to be fresh/different/unique/empathetic and just 100% written with heart and emotional connect. Even the darkfics/smutfics are just really soulful and beautiful.

Because the majority of their fic in 2023 are not HP I don't want to do a fic deep dive here. You can check my 2022 letter for those! But everybody should read the fantastic Birds of Paradise, about the friendship between Fawkes and Albus Dumbledore. Definitely in a nutshell shows a lot of the emotional richness of eldritcher's writing.

Eldritcher writes a lot of Problematic (affectionate not derogatory!!!) Because of their fic I read the following Really Problematic works.

Anne Carson. I mean! Really problematic. Lots of gender.

Beowulf. Nobody told me it was super problematic. Anyway, I read Beowulf because Ossuarium is technically Beowulf fanfic. I ship Grendel/Grendel's Mom because it's pretty much every single Ossuarium dragon/dragonrider ship ever. Also I am Team Modthryth if anybody cares. Also I don't really do anything outside Heaney version because English. Heaney is a hero.

Tempest. Also super problematic because Prospero did some serious Not Good stuff. Also Sycorax and Caliban is pretty much the same vibes as Rubicon parental relationships.

Piranesi. Idk how this happened. But this happened.

Lots and lots of other stuff. The Easter Eggs. Rocky Horror Picture Show coded in a Asoiaf fic. Love love love for the ingenuity and absolute why the heck not attitude.

2023 was an amazing year for me with eldritcher's works. Loved the fics, loved the books they got me hooked on, loved the folks I met reading the fics and the books. It was super brilliant to have a lot of challenging books to read and discuss with other folks/understand different perspectives/see the common patterns and things like that. It's like movie analysis when you can have a lot of fun if you are doing it with the right folks. I feel like it's incredible to enjoy the good parts of a franchise when you have a writer who can work it out. Ossuarium can be technically called Beowulf fanfiction but it's also the best deconstruction of the pseudomedieval fantasy genre/that part of the asoiaf canon I have actually read.

Anyway.

Hello everyone,

I am Deadwhisper and I was supposed to be an occasional writer. I started this Tumblr account because I thought I'd write something or the other or at least a poem once a month or something.

I did not. I did not live up to my own comittments ( I have now realised that I never do).

I am a silly, stupid girl who does take things for granted, complains about life and (barely) studies. And I am so sad of my behaviour. It's funny that again after a long time instead of being angry towards my behaviour I'm just sad.

Is this where I will end up? Alone in a room watching YouTube like a dumb kid? I don't know. I don't want that to happen though. The future me that I dreamt of wasn't like this, oof! The future me was smart and witty and quick on her feet. She was at the top of her class and the kindest in her group. She wrote poems and short stories too. She was outgoing and fun to be with.

I am none of these, in fact I'm just the opposite. What an ironic turn of events isn't it. I dream but do not work on what I truly want.

I....

I have been binging alot of dsmp content and amongst them all Technoblade is my favourite. He was amazing and so cool! And always caring about people around him but also just so damn amazing!!! I am so sad that I got to know him after his passing.

But what I really want to say is that he did what he wanted till his last days literally and left a legacy behind. And I want that too....I don't want to die with regrets so stupid. Regrets I could have easily worked on and around. I want to be like Techno too!! Passionate in whatever I do, believing in and working hard towards my dreams.

So I will work upon myself

I will definitely do so

I will write a lil something every now and then and post it. I will play chess, at least a game everyday because I want to learn it. I will study at least 10 hours a day because that is minimised of what I should.

I get 24 hours a day and I am going to make every new set of 24 hours that I receive everyday, matter.

I can do this all. I believe in myself and I also believe in you. If you also are stuck in a rut and if you read this then let us promise each other that we will do one thing better per day. Everyday will we do something better than what we did yesterday and one day, I'm sure of it, we will be amazing!!!

Imma take a moment to hype my girl @yoongiofmine . Don't like it? Don't care.

Ella is one of the most creative and hard working writers that I know. Full stop. She's constantly dreaming up new storylines, troubleshooting issues with existing ones, researching (to the point where the FBI might know her on a first-name basis), and writing about 85 stories at once. Unlike most writers, her stories aren't just the same thing with a new skin. She does her best to give her readers a new world to walk into every time and that universe is ever expanding.

In addition to that, she is truly the kindest soul ever put on this shitshow of a planet. It doesn't matter how bad her day has been, how much she has on her to-do list, or how many people are demanding her attention, she treats you as if you are the only star in the sky. It's a reason to both love her and fear for her. It makes one a little (a lot) protective (violently so) over her. 

You see, when you're that good it attracts the opposite: Dusty ass, petty ass, jealousy having, lost-and-found level leeches. These people claimed to love her and then tried their hardest to carve away everything she is.

● She begins to write as an outlet for her feelings and to connect to other people because she's shy? They get jealous that she's getting attention and might suddenly be competition. (You fuckin wish. I read your shit. You ain't even sittin in the same room, let alone on the same level.)

● Her stories start to become popular enough to get tips through Ko-fi? They tell her that a real paid writer makes enough to live off of their writing. She should be making more. (AND just how much were YOU makin off your basic Marysue bullshit? Get all the way fucked.)

● She begins to get popular on Tumblr and Ao3, surpassing their piddlin' asses? They tell her that if she loved them she would stop writing. (Because you know, nothin says 'I love you' like asking someone to make themselves small enough to make room for your insecurities.)

So, Darling, from all of us who DO actually love you and applaud your success: Congrats on everything. Congrats on all the subscribers. Congrats on the success of your MANY unique stories. Congrats on shedding all those haters like a winter coat. Congrats on everything amazing you're going to do in the future. You shine, baby girl. Stay hungry. @fiercehearts - I absolutely love and adore all of Alex's muses, but I have to gush about Kenzi for a second. I know we haven't done too much with Kenzi and Dyson yet (mostly because I have the pace of a dead snail), but any post Alex make with Kenzi, I can hear her voice every time and Kenzi is just written so amazingly.!

@isdeathlystill - TEA! Tea is honestly one of my favourite people and her threads always help push me to be a better writer! She has such an amazing talent for writing and is so creative with some really amazing OC muses as well as writing spot-on canon muses that are so varied and well written.

@dreamingonthedaily - Lulu here own my heart and soul, I should have that known firstly. Lulu is such an amazing writer and put so much thought into her writing it's unreal. Every thread fits in the world it's in perfectly and just makes so much sense. I get so excited for our threads honestly. Lulu normally gets me gushing to her over video call about our threads.

@lcveblossomed - Sage is such a talented writer! Their threads are always so amazing to read and has so many amazing OC's who I forget constantly aren't canon (Like Pepper and Lenny who are just *chef kiss*). I am beyond grateful to get to write with Sage and always look forward to all our threads!

@dynastymuses - Kate is one of those blogs I just constantly look at with heart eyes. Not only is she an insanely talented writer, but amazing with graphics and edits. You can tell in her writing that she loves and adores her muses because you can feel how much she understand them in how well they're written!

@twistedtangledfate - Bee is a sweetheart and not only is Bee a super talented writer but one of the kindest and most supportive writing partners you can have. I deeply enjoy all our threads and when we speak OOC and I look forward to all that we end up doing in the future. 100% a must follow if you aren't already!

@3katanas - This woman right here is one of my bestest friends and puts up with my shit often. I love Kira a whole damn lot. She always puts so much time and effort into whatever muse she's writing whether OC or canon and into their backstory and their verses and into ensuring that the theme of the blog matches the muse and it always looks stunning and she's an amazing writer too.

@hellgiven - Charli is just so talented I can't. She had such a knack with taking canon muses from one fandom and moving them to new fandoms and making it fele as is they had always been there. I honestly need to remind myself at times that Caroline and Davina originated in different fandoms because Charli puts so much love and lore into any muse she writes and I adore Charli.

@ofblackskies - Jenna has been putting up with my weirdo self for over 7/8 years now and she is honestly just a fantastic writer and a fantastic friend and I love and adore her so damn much. and never mind 10/10, she is 10000000000/10 must follow. No matter what blog I have, or she has, I will follow her into fandoms I know zilch about just to see her perfection.

Bughead Appreciation Week - Day 1 Bughead Fandom Love Day

First of all: thank you @bugheadcentral for putting this together! I think we all need this.

I won’t even attempt to name all the people in this fandom I’m thankful for because I will inevitably forget someone and feel terrible about it!

I have been in this fandom since Jan. 2017 and so many people have entered (and some since exited but I still remember them fondly) my life because of this crazy show. There’s too many to name in just one post (and I have mommy brain and would forget some of you)!

If we’ve ever interacted, I hope I made you feel like you mattered and like you brought something into my life. You all have. So here are a few blanket statements:

1. I’m so very thankful for all our Bughead fic writers who keep finding new ways of writing our ship falling in love over and over again in thousands of different manners. They have been especially important since canon has been failing us.

2. Thank you to all the wonderful gif makers. I stopped watching at 4.16 and you guys allow me to see only the good Bughead stuff that’s happened since then and remind me of all the wonderful moments we got before things got so completely messed up.

3. Thank you to the ones I call the 'Bughead commentators' because even though I stopped watching, through following your blogs, I can keep up with what’s happening in the land of Bughead on Riverdale.

4. To every single one of you who has encouraged my writing in any way, liked, shared, commented on my stuff: thank you! You enrich my online life and bring me joy. I’m grateful for you.

5. And finally, thank you to all the artists who’ve drawn Bughead. I hope it’s no secret how much I adore each of you, just look at my art collection and you’ll see that.

i’m writing this message on a throwaway because i’m very shy! but i wanted to get this out because i think you should know. a few months ago, one of my friends was skimming through AO3 and came across one of your aeon fics. they were instantly enthralled. we spent weeks, and i truly mean weeks, talking about and going through your work. i mean it when i say it wasn’t like anything i’ve read before, especially not in the resident evil fandom. everything you incorporate into your writing makes it so incredibly beautiful. the poetry and the artwork. your beautiful, poetic, prose. how you work in all these metaphors and symbolism…

if writing were a sport, you’d be a gold medalist. you have the writing equivalent of the steadiest hands for sewing. it led me to reading just about everything you’ve written, resident evil and not, and i have to say, i am beyond glad that i did. i took a glance at your twitter, as well, and when i saw how much you love poetry and reading, it all made sense. but it honestly touched me as well in a way nothing has in a while- your passion for literature and for creation is so strong, and so visible, and so incredibly beautiful. and not only that, but your support for what others create only makes you all the more amazing.

your writing is genuinely something so special, in every form it comes. so i guess i really only have one thing to tell you, and i hope you know i mean it with every fiber of my soul- please don’t ever stop writing. and thank you so much for sharing the beautiful things you’ve conjured up with the world. <3

oh my dear god???!! i will tell you right now. i spent the last week trying to find the words for what i felt, after reading this. and i keep failing every time because this is one of the kindest things anyone has said about my work, about the connection that exists, that is always there between an author and reader, and so i just cried. i sat down and i cried because i was so grateful.

Last March someone very important to me lost his battle with cancer and it WRECKED me. I am still not over the loss and there is a whole in my heart that will never be filled. I looked up to him and his light and love, his kidness, his goofiness. He was one of a kind with a smile that could make you cry.

In May I met Eddie and in June I found Joey. These two men have given me a zest for life that I didnt know I could have. I got back into writing which is something I love and haven't done in YEARS. They helped to pull me out of my depression, helped distract me from the pain I was in.

Eddie came into my life without warning and completly flipped it upside down (no pun intended). He brought me here after a very long hiatus and helped me meet some of the most amazing people I have ever met.

@munson-trashcan Mols, you were my very first friend in the fandom and I love you to the moon and back. I'm still so sorry about predicting the ending of Days of the Week but hey... it worked out because we connected. I know we haven't talked much lately but I am always here and I know you are too!
