You know, I'm starting to think all the people who want the veil to come down don't actually undeestand what the veil is? Saw a post saying it was akin to bringing down a wall or opening a door, which implies it being a barrier separating a connected 3 dimensional space.
The Breach was akin to opening a door.
Removing the veil is smashing two planes of existance together so that they suddenly occupy the same space. Just because they once were the same thousands of years ago doesn't mean they can just go back! They have different shapes now and no longer form the cohesive original shape.

alright, I’m annoyed with the class that I’m taking. it’s about writing novels, and I thought it would have cool stuff about balancing your narrative and developing themes etc, but instead she spent the first class talking about how every book fits into the Hero’s Journey (the monomyth template). and I was somewhat of a contrarian, and said “can you give us examples of books that don’t fit into this template?” and she said “no. because all books fit.”
but I dunno man, I just finished reading this Korean book where the plot is just the character having a string of hookups and reflecting on them without changing in any way. I don’t know if it’s possible to contort that into the Hero’s Journey.

Amatonormativity has destroyed so many people's understanding and acceptance of themselves, and it's heartbreaking.
Yes, it is normal to be in your 20s, 30s, or older and not have lost your virginity, had a first kiss, or a partner. It is normal to say that you aren't ready for those things, too! It is normal if your life doesn't follow the "college graduate -> engagement -> buying a home -> 2.5 kids and a dog" trajectory that so many people have idealized.
So many people associate maturity with losing your virginity, or having a first kiss, or a serious relationship, and I think that's a dangerous association. Maturity isn't gained through those things, and you don't have to have those experiences to be considered "mature" or "grown." It is not a bad thing to go at your pace. Nobody else can live your life but you. If you end up having those experiences, that's great! But it should be done because you want to experience them, not because you feel "broken" and "immature" without them.

rookanis really is like... first base is you walking through the haunted ruins of my mind to find me in an act of breathtaking psychological intimacy with added tam lin undertones. second base is baked goods (cautious erotic connotations). third base is deicide. THEN we kiss. also second deicide of course once you pop it's hard to stop

found family is about radically redefining what family means and subverting established roles and structures within families. it's about allowing ourselves the freedom to build those relationships ourselves without the pressure of preexisting frameworks. it's NOT about "this one's the mom and this one's the dad" and recreating the nuclear family and to act like that's what it is and to then claim that found family as a media trope is reductive or normative is complete horseshit to me.
the terminology isn't always applicable and you can argue that it or some of its cliches are overused. and certainly you're welcome to have your own personal definition of what family is. but suddenly it's like the new tumblr zeitgeist is "found family is reductive and cringe" and it's baffling because what you MEAN is that forcing fictional characters into nuclear family roles is reductive. to suddenly decide that found family is "mom and dad and siblings :)" and thus normative and reductive and somehow bad is an insult to everyone who has nontraditional families without typical familial roles in real life. and i'm tired of pretending otherwise. that's all.

back before minecraft had infinite worlds, i was exploring a new world when i came to the edge of it and saw a small ring shaped structure made out of glowstone. i told my siblings but no one believed that i hadn’t built it myself. sitting here thinking about it after so many years, it JUST occurred to me that i now have the power of the internet at my disposal, so if anyone knows of how a glowstone structure would have appeared in a brand new untouched limited minecraft world, PLEASE let me know. this has bothered me for over a decade.

To this day I still think arc 2 is one of the best deconstructions of a traditional fantasy's "happily ever after" I've ever seen.
By the end of the arc, the queen you spent all of arc 1 travelling to is dead and leaves her beloved son an orphan; the main couple who exchanged heartfelt "I love you"s has to rebuild their relationship back stronger after major cultural/interpersonal clashes; the different groups who came together to win the day likewise have cultural differences and integration can be a bitter, beautiful, bloody process, culminating in a civil war; the father dubbed a villain by his son saved his life and hundreds of others, and the sister he clung to / tried to save and excuse is now someone he believes he has to kill / the certainty he'd found is now in shambles; the mysterious big bad is still mysterious but shattered, and will return to haunt you again and again; the child king cracks and crumbles under the weight of his crown and his losses and, like everyone else, just manages to come back from the brink; no amount of love can save someone who doesn't want to change, and sometimes you can't save people precisely because they have; you cannot save everyone, and sometimes you won't even try to.

🤝being sick of that damn goat man
Though mine are probably more basic because I just think they were cowards and should have made his design more monstery, WHERE'S THE TAIL AND PAWS HUH.
see at first i even liked his design (just that though, in the tutorial i called him being a twist villain bc i had way too much faith into the writing lmao), but man going back through my stream recordings i was trying to be so nice to the game until the very end, i really didnt want to accept how much i disliked evrything lol, at least now i feel free to just yell about how much i hate it

love when you can ask the Narrator why the Princess is a Princess and he's like 'well i uhhhh YOU did that. maybe it's because uh... something something about her being above you... but still approachable... look i don't want to analyze or anthropomorphize your--' my guy. i am a primal being of Order and Eternity and Shaping. You're the one who convinced me I was some dude and were quite willing to take credit for shaping my view on the world through narration five seconds ago. Are you gonna look me in the eye and tell me the desire to interpret something worthy of adoration and more powerful than me as a dommy princess is written in the very nature of the universe or are you going to show me your browser history like a man

I love how extreme found family is in one piece. Like they took supernatural line of "Family don't end in blood" and actually made good on it. Because it's not just that the crew found each other even before that only really very briefly Robin, Usopp and Luffy could say that anyone biologically related to them raised them.
Like Luffy had Garp and that's his grandpa but he also had Makino and Shanks and the red hair pirates and they were a family unit and he also had Ace, Sabo Dandan and the bandits and they were a family as well and it's never who mattered more to Luffy or who actually raised him cause they all did. It'd be hard to put him in a nuclear family structure because so many people fill the same roles in his life in different ways and that's great like Kung Fu panda said "that doesn't mean less for one parent it just means more for Luffy"
And that's the thing I think sometime fandom can get very obsessive with trying to pin down who is whose surrogate father/mother how do they fit in the nuclear family structure and while that's fun and there's nothing wrong with head cannon characters that way I also think it's important to remember that not every relationship needs a title or definition sometimes you are just family and that's valid too.
Ace had Luffy and Garp but he also had the whitebeard pirates and his pops same with Sabo and the revolutionaries
Zoro with Kuina and his old kendo master, that was maybe more of a rivals, mentor mentee relationship than whatever Mihawk Zoro and Perona had going on but it's all family none the less.
Chopper with Hiririluk and Kureha. Perona and Moria, Usopp with the little village boys and Kaya. Shanks and Buggy with the Roger Pirates. They might not all have had defined roles with each other but it was still family.
Just like Sanji, Nami, Franky and Law and their more defined Surrogate familes
And people like Vivi Robin Usopp and Shirahoshi who had/have their biological parents/family that love them and raised them.
It's nobody that I've just mentioned properly fitting squarely into any of these categories because it's all complicated family is complicated and its messy and it's big and everyone in your family might not have even met but it's family and it doesn't end in blood and for some people it never started there either.

I think it says almost everything you need to know about varric that his reaction to the blackwall reveal is like... 'oh thank GOD you're a child murderer. for a hot second there I thought you were something much much worse' '.......like what' 'boring to me personally'
