Matt would be the son of Dionysus

Dionysus used to be the god of fertility, now being known as the god of wine, theatre, and ecstasy. Matt would eat this shit up let me tell you!! His style would deff consist of lots of red, leather, leopard print, and rings. Some of his fashion inspirations would be Freddy Mercury, Elton John, and the band Motley Crue. His father is the god of theatre, he's bound to be dramatic with his actions and style.

His cabin, number 12, would most definitely be known as the party cabin. He would throw big grand parties, each one having a theme ranging from the 70's to medieval. He would also host plays, all of them being dramatic, with dark plots. With the parties and plays, come drugs and alcohol. He has drugs of all types, weed, acid, shrooms, etc. His personal favorite is molly, the drug making him and anyone exceptionally horny. He finds that sex feels way better when he and his partner for the night are on it.

Speaking of sexual endeavors, this man is a freaky frog. The way he acts in the bedroom should be a crime! I'm talking rope, vibrators, blindfolds, ball gags, handcuffs, etc. Let's not forget, his dad is the god of fertility, BREEDING KINKKKKKK!!!!! He hates condoms due to his breeding kink, but god forbid he gets one of the girls at the camp pregnant. The only time he would let his breeding kink roam free is when he finally has sex with the girl he's had his eyes on since she arrived at the camp, the daughter of Aphrodite. He has a thing for ruining innocence.

He is known as the manwhore of the camp, most of the males hating him, but still hoping they get an invitation to his parties. The girls try to stay clear of him, knowing how he is but somehow still ending up in his bedroom. Let's get into the bedroom. It's giving Bruno Mars along with Shake & Go wig Anderson Paak. It's straight out of the 70's. It's clean and often smells like weed, wine, and cherries.

His bestfriend is Chris, the son of Hades. The two go hand in hand, partners in crime. When they first met, Matt asked Chris if he had any of his father's pomegranates so he could make wine. Chris couldn't help but laugh at the question, but Matt was being deadass. If Matt is throwing a party, Chris is right there cigarette in hand.

Dionysus's animal was a leopard and or a tiger. Matt would honor that by wearing leopard print and having tiger rugs.

I don't think Dionysus actually had children, but if he did I would imagine they had the ability to cause/cure both sexual and non-sexual madness with their words. like, imagine Matt just saying what he would do to you, and the more descriptive he got, you could basically feel him fucking you? yeah, sign me up!!

Dionysus's weapon of choice was a staff with a pinecone at the top, called a Thyrsus. I think Matt would have the same thing, but more like a cane an old-school pimp would have (thinking of Kat Williams) and it would have the head of a tiger.

Chris would be the son of hades

Hades is the god of the underworld, defending the rights of the dead and protecting the world as well as his wife Persephone. His style would be somewhat similar to Matt's as far as color goes. Lots of black, a few white pieces, and red as well. You will always see him in a leather jacket, his feet adorned by a pair of white air forces. With his father being the god of the underworld, Chris unfortunately got his reputation. A lot of the other half-bloods steering clear of him, whispering when he walks past, not even daring to say his name. it hurt Chris at first, having his peers view him as evil, but he grew accustomed to it. Eventually saying 'fuck it' and playing into the role they made for him.

His cabin being number 13 is perfect because I would like to think he would be born on October 13th, a Friday specifically. It would be deep in the woods, the path scary-looking and eerie. The only source of light being the skull torches against the front door. The only people coming to the house were himself and his best friend Matt, the son of Dionysus. Because no one came to his cabin, Matt would use it as the storage for the copious amounts of wine and paraphernalia he keeps handy. His room is dark (duh). Silk black bedding, books strewn randomly in the room. His skateboard was always propped against the door as well as his multiple pairs of beat-up shoes. He loves music, multiple vinyls, and CDs stacked up in crates around the cabin. He had his signature black guitar right next to his bed, always ready to grab and play. He's a man of few words in this universe. He often found himself writing love songs for the girl in cabin 20, the daughter of Hecate.

Being the son of Hades, anger is unfortunately something he can't avoid. Even though he is usually quiet, all it takes is one person to set him off. One of the Zeus boys was pushing him around and he snapped, damn near killing the boy before Matt pulled him away.

As stated before, his best friend is Matt. He was the only one in the camp to speak to him. Granted he was asking for pomegranates to make wine, but he stuck with him. Matt brought him out of his shell, making sure he was the first to get an invitation to his parties and plays, encouraging his love for music, and also being there for him when his anger got out of control.

Most of Hades, children do have powers. Those powers are necromancy, shadow manipulation, the ability to manipulate the earth, and shadow fusion. Chris would have all of these, especially necromancy and shadow manipulation/fusion. He would use necromancy to fuck with the others in the camp, loving the way his peers screamed in fright. He would only use shadow fusion to spy on his crush, but he gets caught and shyly reveals himself (help I wanna write a fic on the way they meet).

Hades animal representation is a black ram, a screeching owl, and a serpent. let's not forget the three-headed dog Cerberus. Chris would have a big-ass Doberman named Orcus. That dog would hate everyone but Chris, Matt, and the daughter of Hecate.

Nick would be the son of Hermes

Hermes was the god of trade, wealth, luck, sleep, language, thieves, and travel. His style would always consist of light blue jeans and some form of a white shirt/tank top. If he was delivering mail and or messages, he would also wear a blue jean jacket. Him being the son of Hermes is giving blonde Nick IDC idc idc!!!! He would always wear a pair of off-white Converse with wings on the side. Delivering mail can be boring, so he often wears headphones hooked up to a cassette player his best friend Chris gave him as a form of payment.

His cabin is number 11, a lucky number to most. I would imagine it to be a bit more elevated than the others. Perched on some type of high ground where the sun shines in the morning. His cabin would definitely be organized, with all the mail in a specific room in alphabetical order. All of the payments that weren't in cash were placed perfectly in the home, not a thing out of place. His bedding would be white with gold silk pillows. He loved to sleep so his bed was always unmade, blankets thrown all over the bed, even dipping onto the floor.

He often liked to cause a bit of chaos in the camp, it was his homage to his father. He would steal from the other campers, shrugging and rolling his eyes when they asked him about it. He would break into the counselor's office, picking the lock with ease to receive something of Matt's. He would do this often for the campers, but not without payment. If they weren't giving him cash, they had to pay by giving him something of theirs. The amount of jewelry he has is insane.

His best friends, despite not liking their attitudes, would be Matt and Chris. Matt had asked him to deliver invitations for a party, and Nick initially told him no after seeing the amount of invitations. He quickly changed his mind seeing the stack of cash and a gold chalice Matt offered. He and Chris became friends the day he guided Chris into the camp, much like his father guides souls to the underworld.

Most of Hermes' children have powers, those being enhanced speed, audiokensis, and Clauditiskinesis. Nick has all of these, his favorite being clauditiskinesis and audiokensis. He would use audio to listen in on everyone's conversations, it helped that he could be above them in the clouds, never being seen. That's how he figured out that one of the sons of Zeus has a crush on him.

He wouldn't have an animal in my opinion. I would imagine him to have a messenger bag that's like, never-ending lmao.

Have you heard of queer country singer Orville Peck? His been releasing songs since 2019, but since I don’t listen to country music I’d never heard of him… until today when I came across some nude photos of him. They weren’t selfies leaked by a former boyfriend, but rather campy nudes inspired by vintage physique photos.

His style is a kind of country pop. One of his gimmick has been to wear a leather mask over his eyes. He also had fringe covering the lower part of his face. But over time the fringe got shorter and now he just has the eye mask.

"There's nothing wrong with being a straight white man making country music. But like, babe, we've heard it. we've heard about the truck!"

Peck is originally from South Africa but is currently based in Canada and the US. He performed under his real name Daniel Pitout with a punk band called Nü Sensae. Fans eventually figured out Pitout and Peck were the same person due to his tattoos.

Digging further, I learned he’ll soon be releasing an album of duets with music stars such as Kylie Minogue and Elton John. But the most interesting song is a duet with Willie Nelson. A link to the song is below… it’s all about gay cowboys. I may buy in album just to support a gay artist breaking boundaries.

I hadn’t heard her stuff before today - listened this morning - and I also just read a bit about her and looked at her insta page (what’s weird also is quite a few of my friends follow her so idk why I just totally missed that she existed) and I know it’s clearly very early days but holy shit this girl seems soooo well suited for Harry lmao? Like holy shit? She’s incredibly talented musically (like beyond beyond beyond). She says she hates being boxed into one musical style and wants to explore psychedelic and folk sounds a lot more and she says she regrets letting other people tell her what to do when she started and really actively wants to stop doing that and only make things she’s very into (which I think Harry would deeeeply understand lmao). She’s legit into fashion - both edgy haute couture stuff and like just generally clothes. She is suuuper family orientated (she wore her granny’s picture on her chest for her Glasto performance and it’s double cool because she’s been saying for a few years that her biggest dream is playing Glasto at some point in her life). She’s a very ardent feminist. She is very into traveling and has said she hates doing the very touristy things and rather enjoys experiencing the local culture like under the radar. She does social media detoxes because being online too much stressed her out a lot. She enjoys sports of all kind and does a lot of yoga and enjoys swimming (she’s said she hates the cold tho so that’ll be something he has to convince her about lol or she’ll just watch him and take the piss) and cycling (she apparently cycles a lot around London). Aside from the yoga she’s also into some other wellness crap (she’s talked about saunas a few times and like which types of incense she enjoys most) and she goes to therapy and is a big proponent of people going to therapy lol. They both self-identify as dog people. She actively cares about privacy and has said that one of the challenges with becoming more famous is people coming over to meet her which makes her feel awkward (although she’s obviously very grateful to her fans - much like him she seems SUPER appreciative of fans actually). She says she can get really shy - as a kid it was almost crippling shyness and now obviously it’s not crippling but she struggles with imposter syndrome and just feeling shy/awkward. She rented a bright yellow van to tour in and play socially distanced gigs during lockdown from and that seems like something Harry would find/thinks is super cool. She’s said her ultimate era to live in would be the 70s and I think Harry would agree lol. She’s very funny and silly and fun from the interviews I read and the videos I watched but also knows a lot of stuff and is very interested in a lot of things.

The only thing I can find that really separates them is Olivia is reaaaally into West Ham and Harry’s always rooted for Man U lol but that seems like a reason for fun banter rather than a profound disagreement 😂💀 especially since the point is they both love footie. Also she grew up proper upper middle class and as we know Harry didn’t but her family seems super normal and very cool and she loves them all sooooo much. She can’t shut up about how much she loves her mum and dad and how cool her granny was. They also didn’t have a background in entertainment at all, like she got into the Brit school by auditioning and convinced her family to buy her a secondhand piano at that point just to start learning so yeah like quite normal people. Also she says she really values alone time and needs to be by herself now and then which is the opposite of Harry but he ought to get better at alone time to be perfectly honest so that’s also not a bad thing.

I also haven’t found her referencing Harry a single time - and she’s spoken about a lot of celeb crushes and musical crushes and inspos and contemporary artists she admires - which I bizarrely feel like is a good fit for him? Like she has never appeared to give an iota of a fuck about Harry Styles™️ but based on her interests and personality would really enjoy chilling with Harry the lad and actually working with Harry the musician even.

All of Harry’s gfs/hookups are always very pretty wbk but this girl is absolutely unreal and apparently v chill about it too like a few of the interviews I read mentioned she shows up with no makeup and she’s said while she loves fashion she hates having to dress up too often and doesn’t like high heels etc.

My Most Anticipated Movies of 2024

Here we are - Christmas behind us and right at the precipice of the end of the year with 2024 ready to rock and rumble. So naturally as per usual this time of year I do all my film-related Top 10 lists, with the first up My Most Anticipated Movies of 2024. An interesting aspect of 2024 is that it is in fact bare bones when it comes to superhero flicks with both Marvel and DC taking a little break as they reorganise that respective cinematic universes, with the only major flicks of that genre being Deadpool 3 and the Joker sequel. As such, I’m really hoping we will get some stand out releases from the indie and more niche market, so looking forward to those surprises down the line, as for now here are the movies on my radar who I see having potential at being the stand outs in 2024…

10) KUNG FU PANDA 4 - Jack Black’s Po the Dragon Warrior is back for another round of hijinks. DreamWorks animation sequels recently have been nothing short of superb, with the genuinely laugh-out-loud hilarious Croods 2 and then the fantastic Puss in Boots: The Last Wish that had no right to be THAT good! Like honestly, how the hell was Puss in Boots 2 so awesome!? From the striking and ambitious animation style, to the soundtrack and one hell of a title track with “Fearless Hero”, to the narrative itself tackling surprisingly mature themes and honest depictions of panic attacks - Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is a masterpiece! There, I said it. As such really high hopes now for DreamWorks’ other projects, with Kung Fu Panda always a reliable series, yet I must say the trailer was a tad underwhelming hence why it’s so low on the list. Still though, the previous 3 have been solid so no reason for this one not to. Let’s give this panda some love!

9) THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE - Director Guy Ritchie has been on a real hot-streak lately, delivering quality after quality. 2019’s The Gentlemen is one of the coolest gangster flicks in recent memory, 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E was an entertaining action espionage caper with some great humorous banter, and this year’s The Covenant was one of the more underrated surprises, delivering a tense and realistic pulse pounding war thriller that was so out of character for Ritchie, yet honestly delivered such an edge of your seat experience. Then there’s that Aladdin remake with a blue Will Smith. Look, everyone’s gotta pay the bills, but nonetheless Guy Ritchie really is hitting the mark non-stop, so really looking forward to this World War II based action spy film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Love the title alone. Also Henry Cavill’s in the lead and that guy’s simply cool.

8) ARGYLLE - So much so that this is the second film on the list featuring Henry Cavill in the lead. What a cast - John Cena, Sam Rockwell, Dua Lipa, Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Sofia Boutella and Bryan Cranston. Talk about an ensemble! This comes to us from Matthew Vaughn who made those Kingsman movies, and one could argue that this looks and feels like a Kingsman movie. Wouldn’t even be surprised if at the film’s end there will be a twist connecting it to that franchise Cloverfield-style. Looks like a good time though, as long as they brush up on their special effects, as that CGI cat is Garfield-level bad!

7) BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE - When a music biopic is done right then it is SO right! Taron Egerton rocked as Elton John in Rocketman, and Baz Luhrmann visual frenetic style paired really well with the crazy life of Presley in 2022’s Elvis. And who can of course forget the incredible tale of Dewey Cox, as he walked hard through his drug-filled Bob Dylan-stealing life where absolutely nothing bad happened to him. I’m of course kidding, but if you’ve never seen Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story then you’re missing out on of the funniest music biopic satires ever. That movie is hilarious and the Beatles scene alone is worth the price of admission. Anyway, in regards to One Love, the trailers for this Bob Marley biopic have actually been really intriguing. Kingsley Ben-Adir seems to be impersonating the famous reggae singer really well and the movie itself seems to offer a powerful depiction of Marley’s journey behind his revolutionary music. At the very least I’m going to enjoy listening to “Buffalo Soldier” on the big screen, and that’s gotta count for something.

6) FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA - One of the stand-outs of George Miller’s absolute batshit insane wasteland hit Mad Max: Fury Road was Charlize Theron’s headstrong Furiosa. Well Theron is not returning and instead Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the role as a younger version of the character. I am always hesitant with prequel stories as I always wonder what’s the point of them, however Miller’s Fury Road was visually incredible with some outstanding action sequences, and additionally the trailer for Furiosa features an unhinged Chris Hemsworth, and for those of you who’ve seen Bad Times at the El Royale you’ll know the guy can play insane really well.

5) DRIVE AWAY DOLLS - The Coen Brothers are behind some of the most thrilling crime capers in film history, yet recently they temporarily parted ways to focus on their own projects. Joel went on to direct a truly spectacular Shakespeare adaptation of Tragedy of Macbeth that gave Roman Polanski’s original a run for its money, and now Ethan Coen has got his first solo directorial outing with Drive Away Dolls. It’s a queer roadtrip buddy comedy about two friends whose spontaneous trip to Tallahassee is undermined by a gang of amateur criminals. Should be a fun time at the movies with hopefully some of the Coens’ signature wit, and the supporting cast featuring Pedro Pascal and Matt Damon simply sounds delightful.

4) MICKEY 17 - Bong Joon-Ho’s highly anticipated science fiction film starring Robert Pattinson. Not much is known about this however Joon-Ho is fresh of winning an Oscar for Best Picture for his incredible Parasite, and Pattinson has really proven in the last decade that he’s a very talented actor, and that the quicker we forget about his Twilight times the better. Look, it’s a movie that is made by a very talented group of people, so I’m really rooting for this one to be a hit.

3) DEADPOOL 3 - One of the few superhero flicks of 2024, and the only one I really care about, as, well, it’s fricking Deadpool! The first two were awesome, and we have Ryan Reynolds back in this one, this time with the highly anticipated return of Wolverine himself - Hugh Jackman. Again, there are reasons to be worried, as the MCU’s Multiverse saga has been very underwhelming and this film is posed to be at the centre of this cinematic plot line. Additionally, due to the writer’s strike earlier in 2023 Ryan Reynolds was not allowed to improvise on set, and I feel like Deadpool thrives of the ad-libbing and actors being allowed to act in the moment, so take that away and what do we have? Fingers crossed the team know what they are doing and I’m still really looking forward to it, yet Deadpool 3 has a lot to prove come it’s summer release day.

2) MAXXXINE - The final entry is Ty West’s horror trilogy X. Following the only survivor of the bloody incidents of X, Maxine continues her journey towards fame to be an actress in 1980s Los Angeles. Both X and Pearl really reinvigorated the horror genre as they both took inspiration from the old yet managed to blend in something new, as such making this third installment one of my most anticipated this year. In fact, I don’t enjoy horror films that much, so when one gets me so invested it really proves a point that it is something truly special.

1)THE LORD OF THE RINGS: WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM - Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy are my favourite set of films ever. So of course anything to do with Lord of the Rings gets my blood pumping. Amazon Prime’s recent Rings of Power show was an absolute slap to the dick, and was such a disservice to the fans, however War of the Rohirrim sounds more promising. The prequel will be an anime adaptation of Tolkien's world and will take inspiration from the look and feel of Peter Jackson's original trilogy, with Miranda Otto returning to narrate, and as you may recall Otto played Eowyn, the daughter of Theoden, in the original trilogy. The film is directed by anime industry heavyweight Kenji Kamiyama, known for his work on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Blade Runner: Black Lotus, promising excitement for both Tolkien and anime fans with his impressive track record. It sounds like The War of the Rohirrim will be worth the wait at least because at Annecy Film Festival in June 2023, an exclusive first look was screened and the first reactions are very positive. And look, it is a new Lord of the Rings movie that will be playing in cinemas! I am very afraid but also very excited!

In regards to Wet Leg, I think the TikTok aspect of it is really kicking. They're ~cool and edgy and sexual and out there and just so fucking *trendy* that it seems almost fake to me. Kinda like Måneskin (who used to be cooler I must admit but now is just another act in the back of the line...)

The more I think about it the more I agree that the 'tiktok potential' aspect may be a huge factor in this.

I saw someone on Twitter use the phrase "fast fashion but in music" - and I think that kind of nails it? There's always been musical trends but now like with everything they're coming and going so much faster than ever before. And with tiktok being able to make a song trend and bring the artist millions of views & streams it's no wonder the industry will gear towards that to get some easy income in. Especially when the songs that do best are literally the most basic easy-to-compose tunes one can think of.

I'm not even very up to date with these things. But I can see some patterns. Like make up a song that's simple, relatable - and like you're saying edgy and (*gasp!*) sexual + very rhythmic (good for edits and jump cuts/transitions) & you've got a potential hit.

"ABCDE-FU" type of shit. Or yeah- some of the new Måneskin songs too. Like BLA BLA BLA and Kool Kids (which were the only two actually unbearable songs on the album to me - but then in shock I found out that they're up in the top of their young fans' favorites)

(I do also agree - I was very much a fan of Måneskin and their previous two albums. They kind of lost that originality though with most ot the tracks on this one. Very much going the fast-fashion-music direction unfortunately)

Even if the fashion world is way more centered in women, men also deserve to know their body type to know what clothes suit them better. Unluckily, there is very little information for them – not to say there is NONE for non-binary people. I’ll do my best to approach this issue in faour of inclusivity, as ALL OF US deserve to know our shapes in order to find synch and harmony with our body.

Sources agree that men can have FIVE different body types: triangle, inverted triangle, rectangle, oval or trapezoid.

Triangle body type is characterized by narrow shoulders and wider hips. To find proportions and balance in this body, it is necessary to wear clothes that focus the attention on the shoulders, to make them look wider. Clothes that can help them do this are structured tailoring, shoulder pads and not very fitting clothes. It is best to use vertical lines and prints. Examples of this body type are Kany West or Adam Levine.

Inverted triangle bodies are described as having broad shoulders and narrow hips. It is the typical body type of swimmers and gym bros, as the upper half of the body is well-developed. Unluckily for them, most fashion brands tend to design clothes for men who are out of shape. Bosnia & Herzegovina It's very pretty. The staging is really nice to look at and Marija has a lovely voice. It doesn't evoke a whole lot in me emotionally, maybe because I just don't understand Bosnian, which is not necessarily a bad thing but when this song sounds and looks like it's trying to be emotional and I'm just not feeling it it does temper some of my enthusiasm. Spain Really energetic and catchy, and all the DNASH boys have good voices. The background with the "I <3 You" text background did strike me as kind of tacky, but like it's fine. It was 2007. What can you do. Ireland OOF. I hate the singer's voice here - it's not a particularly pleasant timbre, it's sort of nasal and she seems to be very flat much of the time. Nevertheless, this one is one of the more memorable numbers for me. I like the style of music and it just strikes me as a very happy, hopeful song, which is honestly what I need right now.

Finland I love it! You know I'm not a fan of harder rock, but this is just masterfully done. I love the staging and the camerawork and the composition, and Hanna has one of my favorite voices from this year's competition. Lithuania It's ok. I liked the simplicity of it, and I thought the staging was cool with the background musicians behind a screen and in shadow. The song itself is kind of boring, though. Greece I really like this song, it's a jam! The chorus is especially catchy but I like all of it. However, I feel like Sarbel was relatively low energy - like he wasn't even that low energy it's just this is a song where the performance needs REALLY high energy and idk I just don't think he was able to bring that. Sweden I like the song, but I'm a little confused by the styling. A quick Wikipedia search informs me that this is "glam rock", popularized by David Bowie and Elton John, which is fine. I don't have anything against David Bowie or Elton John. However, I really do not like these singers in their 2000s-style womens' clothing. Mostly because 2000s-style womens' clothing is ugly on everyone. France This is not very good. The first half of the chorus is the only thing I really like about the song. The styling is ugly and the vocals are poor, and much of the song isn't anything impressive. Russia Feels like we don't talk about this song enough. I mean, it placed third, but whenever I see people talk about 2007, it's always either Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, or Finland... never Serebro! This isn't my favorite song of this year but it's still very good. I think Eurovision, in general, needs more girl bands.

Germany Roger Cicero steht ins Eurovisionskabarett! This man has truly drunk his share of respecting women juice... I'm really enjoying the song, his voice, and the 1920s-30s influences in the music and the staging. Enjoyable by all. Ukraine Like Molitva, I'm a little desensitized to this. As joke entries go, this is better than Ireland 2008... and better than some more serious songs like Turkey 2012 or Croatia 2017. But between the extreme camp of it all, the fact that it's a joke entry, and the sexual overtones, I just have a hard time liking it. United Kingdom This is not entirely unpleasant to listen to, if you're not listening too hard or looking at it. The sexual comments from two of the singers are A Lot for me, and I think the whole airplane concept is really just... not wise. Romania I'm enjoying their whole concept of "the same verse in six different languages and they just mix and match the words". It's cute, but it has that kids music feel... idk, some songs I can just clock as bad without listening all the way through, and when I saw the clip of this in the semi that's the vibe I got. It's okay. It's just not good. Armenia It sure is dramatic, and Hayko has a good voice (at least... I think...), but the song is a very generic ballad. I like the tree set piece. My top 42

Voting/intervals ...Santa Claus is not Finnish. Interesting to see that showing artists in the green room during the recap actually dates back to here and maybe even earlier... I wonder why that wasn't brought back until 2014/15? Why was the audience so mad at Svante Stockselius this year? They booed when he came onscreen and I'm 99% sure someone yelled "fuck you" from the audience while he was talking. Is there lore I missed? That voting was really close right up until the end - it looked like Ukraine could still win right up until Macedonia's vote, which was second-to-last. WILD. Thoughts after watching I love so much about this contest! Such a strong year in terms of song quality, I loved the hosts, and the stage design was awesome! I think it's definitely one of my favorite stages, up there with 2014. The visual design for the year was also really cool, not just for its time but in general.

🫘- ooo a brand new project that i haven't mentioned yet!! i've been working on a jcs au set in the seventies where jesus is... well a superstar, and judas is his jaded songwriter. it's very long and idk when I'll get a chance to actually post it because I want to finish some of the fics i'm already working on before I start posting something new, but I'm very excited. it's heavily inspired by elton john so!!!! i also have a trans judas au that I've been working on for a while, but as a cis person, I'm taking my time with it and doing proper research. I'll most definitely consult a non-cis beta reader before I post that one, too! that one is set to be five chapters.

I teach dance to mostly elementary-age kids, which is a lot of fun! Personally, my favorites are more traditional styles like ballet and tap, but I’m also really into dance involving some kind of apparatus, so like “manipulation disciplines” (baton twirling, hooping, and the apparatus handling element of rhythmic gymnastics) and aerial (silks, lyra, sling, trapeze, etc). And I LOVE using 60s/70s rock music for choreo (and sometimes new wave); a lot of teachers will only use “kids music” for their classes, but I always find that kids really enjoy older music/rock music/the beatles especially.

okay you’re getting like a proper essay on the monkees because it’s a complicated situation. Micky likes to say they’re a fake band that became a real band. basically the creators of the show wanted to make an American version of the hard day’s night movie but in tv format. so they held auditions for the show and ended up casting 2 guys who were more musicians (mike & peter) and 2 guys who were more actors (micky & davy, although davy was a broadway performer and could definitely sing and do percussion, but had basically no experience in rock/pop music). so obviously they’re not like a “real band” bc they’re assembled so artificially. they assign micky to be the drummer even though he has no drumming experience whatsoever. Davy is actually a proficient drummer, but the showrunners want him to be their front man (even though he only ends up singing maybe half of the songs, but I digress) and they think he’s too short to be behind the drum kit. they also don’t allow the guys to play any of the instruments on the songs, just the vocals. Mike gets a clause in his contract that a couple of his original songs will be recorded, but it’s still session musicians. but the songs are catchy and the show is funny, and they become fairly popular :) if you’ve watched big time rush, the monkees show has a really similar vibe!! the four of them are essentially playing caricatured versions of themselves, with their own names, except they make Peter play the dumb one and he quietly resents this.

Part 2: The Trouble Begins

So the monkees are a fake band in a tv show, right? That seems to be the case until the showrunners start releasing albums of their music, taking the monkees on tour (they had to teach micky to drum for this), and, crucially, insisting to the public that the monkees actually do play their own music. and then forcing the guys to lie about it too (not to mention the frankly abusive conditions the monkees were being forced to work in). eventually the guys start telling the world how they’re not allowed to play their instruments, and instead of being sympathetic to their plight, everyone suddenly HATES the monkees for being a fraud. and legitimately some of that stigma continues to this day

Part 3: Total Control

While all that drama is going down, Mike and Peter decide that they actually want to make their own music, and micky and Davy get on board pretty soon. so the four of them start fighting to get creative control over the band. in one altercation over this in a hotel room, Mike famously punches a hole in a wall and says “that could’ve been your face, motherfucker” to the showrunner. so eventually they get creative control over the band and put out 4 albums really quickly! the tv show flops after season 2 because they’ve been outed as frauds and also because they were being more themselves than they were in season 1. they make a movie that flops horribly. Peter leaves the band. Mike leaves the band. Micky and Davy try desperately to keep it alive but after a little bit Davy becomes too much of a bitch and micky is having too much of a quarter-life crisis. none of them are basically ever taken seriously as performers again. Was it a real band? Was it a tv show? You decide!
