If you could characterize Max in a single word, it would be "perfect." Although it may be argued that everyone has flaws, you would also consider his imperfections to be perfect as well.

From the day you two met until now and possibly even beyond, your life has changed so drastically that you can't remember how you used to spend your days without Max. He was a welcomed friend, and after tonight, he is even more than a friend.

You couldn't help but admire him as he sat in front of you, trying to contain his energetic hand gestures to a minimum while speaking to you. You wanted to interrupt and tell him how much you liked that particular trait of his, but that would require him to drop your hands, and you quite frankly enjoyed the warmth his hands exuded.

As promised, Max took you out on a date as soon as he returned from the race. If it were up to him, he would've planned to go out on the same night, but you convinced him for the day after, especially as you needed a babysitter for Isabella.

Speaking of, your daughter was currently at home with your best friend, who had quickly become a lifesaver offering to keep Isabella company while you spent the evening out with Max.

You couldn't consider dropping Isabella off at Tyler's, not after what she told you, so you decided to call your friend. Fortunately, her response was, "of course I can! Go get a boyfriend already,"

Since your actual first date didn't go as planned, you decided to wear the red dress that you put away last time in hopes of gaining some luck. Max, ever the gentleman, had crossed off every point in your mental checklist for a first date.

From standing at your front door suited up and carrying a bouquet of flowers—specifically sunflowers—to making you grin and laugh throughout the evening, Max was doing all the right things.

You were slightly nervous about tonight, yet there was nothing to be worried about. Not after you'd calmed down and realized that this date felt just like the way you usually spent time with Max, albeit a little fancier.

Although you kept your wine intake to a minimum, you still felt the buzzing energy running through you, but perhaps that was all due to his presence.

Soon, dinner was over but you weren't ready for the night to end just yet. As Max drove out of the parking lot, you turned to him with a smile creeping up your face as you thought of an idea.

"Do you wanna stop by the beach that we passed on the way here?" You asked, and he raised his eyebrow in question, "at night?"

You shrugged, "why not? Less people," you managed to convince him. "I'm glad you thought of something because I didn't want to drop you home just yet," he grabbed your hand, bringing the entwined fingers up to place a kiss on the back of your hand.

He didn't let go of your hand until he parked—possibly illegally—near the beach. You checked your phone for any notifications specifically from your friend, but there weren't any new messages. Choosing to leave your phone in the car, you quickly stepped out and rushed towards the sand with a small laugh leaving your mouth.

You walked until the edge of the pavement, looking down at your heels then at the sand.

Max, catching up behind you after he took an extra moment to leave his blazer in the car, chuckled once he saw your rather amusing dilemma. "Don't laugh," you muttered halfheartedly.

You reached down and slightly lifted your foot to the side at the same time to remove your heels, but Max stopped you. "Let me," he suggested, kneeling down and undoing the straps on your heels. Brushing your hand through his hair with a smile on your face, you commented, "you're too kind."

"You deserve it," he looked up at you for a moment, the wrinkles deepening on the corner of his eyes as he smiled.

Once your heels were off, Max held them in one hand while his other hand held yours. The way your palm fit against his so naturally, fingers entwined, it felt like an old habit which you weren't opposed to at all. You leaned closer to him, while watching the waves crashing against the shore further away.

A breeze passed through your hair, harshly increasing as you neared the water. You mentally thanked your past self for choosing a matte lipstick instead of a gloss otherwise your hair would've been stuck to your lips, making a mess.

Once you were closer to the waves of water, it submerged your feet every once in a while as you walked along the length of the beach.

"This is so peaceful," Max commented, making you hum in agreement. "There's no one else here," you added. While Max's gaze was focused on you, he didn't notice how you mischievously walked closer to the water, bringing him along since your hands were still clasped together.

That was until you reached down when he briefly looked away and splashed some water towards him. Startled, Max took a few steps back, dropping your hand while your laughter rang in the open air. He watched you with an unhappy expression but it quickly turned into a look of amusement as he chuckled. "You have no idea what you just started, darling."

As he reached for you, you quickly stepped away and raised your brow, "oh yeah, what's that?"

"War," he responded cheekily, catching you off guard for a moment that was enough time to return the favour. "Max!" You exclaimed, brushing the few wet strands of your hair out of your face.

You chased him, each step ruining the silence of the night with the sound of splashing water. "C'mon, you have to be faster than that," Max turned to face you but still kept running further away.

"Fuck!" You shrieked, landing flat on your ass right at the same time as a wave crashed over the drying sand. Max instantly stopped in his tracks, his look of amusement quickly turning into worry as he saw you clutching your foot.

"Are you okay?" He neared you, crouching down when you shook your head. "It hurts," you mutter.

"What hurts?" He reached out to touch your ankle which he assumed was the issue, but with the incoming wave, you used your entire arm to bring a larger splash onto him. "Your ego I assume," you responded, throwing your head back with a laugh as you saw the defeated look on his face.

"I really fell for that huh?" He asked, mainly to himself as you stood up without any actual injuries. "Never wager a war against me, sweetheart, I'll always win."

Max pulled you back down, right onto his lap with a hand resting on your lower back, "I've got to say, that was clever but you won't always win." You rested your arms on his shoulders, "we'll see."

You still had a mischievous glint in your eyes but it quickly dissipated and was replaced with admiration once you noticed the way Max looked at you. From direct eye contact, his gaze moved to focus on different parts of your face, as if he wanted to memorize every inch.

You knew the exact moment he noticed the scar underneath your chin from a childhood injury, as well as the faint freckles that only seem to darken in sunlight.

Underneath the moonlit night, with the sounds of the waves calming down, all you could focus on was your heartbeat picking up with both nervousness and excitement.

His intense gaze should’ve made you want to look away, to make you want to squirm until he stopped looking, but you had never felt as seen as you did now, and quite frankly you enjoyed the attention.

Max’s other hand found its way to your cheek, fingers grazing with a featherlight touch. "I am so glad that I met you," he muttered, fingers moving down to your chin slightly pulling you even closer.

You held the eye contact with him when you spoke, "me too," proving that there was nothing but truth behind your words. Your eyes only fluttered closed when you felt his lips grazing yours, barely millimetres away.

"Kiss me," you mumbled against his lips and as soon as he registered those words in his mind, he pressed his lips against yours completely.

Even though you knew it was coming, your breath stuttered once his lips were on yours, pressing so gently yet so full of want. Your hand wandered into his hair, a way to bring him even closer while the other settled on the nape of his neck.

Then he parted away slightly, inhaling as his half-lidded eyes studied your expressions intently. Your palms touched his cheeks, knowing you needed more now that you'd gotten a taste of what else was possible. It took two seconds for your lips to crash against his, this time with greater urgency and intense yearning.

He responded with just as much energy, not rushed at all but filled with passion. His tongue parts your lips and you welcomed the intrusion gladly. Your hands slid down to his chest and if you didn’t feel the pulse of your own heart beating all the way down to your fingertips, you would’ve felt his beating just as fast underneath your palm.

You genuinely didn’t believe that you could want someone to the point where you’d happily sacrifice your breaths to be kissed like this, not until Max.

You didn't appear to be the only one losing track of your surroundings, since as soon as Max leaned back in an invitation to hold you closer on his lap, his hand slipped in the sand. Taking you with him, you both landed on the floor, though your fall was softer than his.

The look of shock quickly turned into laughter, both of you realizing how incredibly lost you were in each other. You leaned down and pressed a kiss to his cheek, “I think we should dry off now,” you muttered against his neck, your actions contradicting your words.

Leaning back on his elbows, he nodded, “we should.” Standing up, you returned to his car but with the sand and water covering your outfits, you couldn’t possibly sit inside.

Instead, you sat on the hood of the car, leaning back and looking up at the sky. “It’s so beautiful,” you commented, noticing the twinkling stars shining down upon you. “It is,” Max replied although his gaze was on you rather than the stars.

You turned to look at him, a chuckle bubbling up, “such a sap,” you muttered before he joined you on the hood. “You like it,” he retorted, and you resorted to watching the sky again because he wasn’t wrong.

Shuffling closer to him, you rested your head on his chest while absentmindedly tracing patterns with your fingers. One of his arms was folded back behind his head while the other wrapped around you, keeping you as close to him as possible.

“You know we won’t dry if we stay like this, right?” You asked or rather hummed. “We can spare a few extra minutes if it means you’ll stay right here with me.”

You smiled, “I’ll always be right here with you.”

What's your dream for the future?

Muu wanting to be a model herself it's not something very surprising, sure, especially considering that her mother was a model too.

What are the occupations of your family members?

However I always wondered what kind of model she can be.

Fashion model industry has a requirement for heights. Usually, you need to be at least 170 cm (5'7") to be able to be a fashion model. Because of Kotoko's height and appearance, even Milgram describes her as having features that will make her a good model!

In Japan, the height requirement is less strict, the minimum being 166 cm (5'6").

However, Muu's official height is 162 cm (5'3"), so she doesn't fit the height requirements. And unfortunately for her, the chances of her becoming taller are low, because girls usually stop growing after 15 years old, Muu being older than that.

So how did Muu receive scouting offers if she doesn't fit the requirements to be a fashion model? Well, simple, despite that I always viewed Muu as being a fashion lover, especially after trial 2, there are other types of modelling!

Fashion (Editorial) Model, Runway Model, Commercial Model, Fitness Model, Parts Model and many more! (if anyone is interested I'll put the link here!)

Based on these, Muu can be, most probably, a commercial model and parts model!

Commercial Models are not restricted by age, height, or size, while parts model basically means having body parts and facial features that make you stand out, usually used on editorial, advertising, and catalog work.

Muu has been complimented many times for her looks, even her profile states that she is very beautiful.

But modelling is not just about being considered pretty, you need to have something that makes you stand out!

"Being a model isn't just about being “good looking” or “pretty.” There are a lot of beautiful people in the world. If you're serious about getting into modeling, it's important to have “a look.” There should be something unique about the way you look or the way you're built."

And Muu actually posses this feature!

In the first voice drama, Es is noticing her unusual and pretty face features.

Based on this, we can say that Muu might be a perfect face model!

"Beauty modelling, also known as face modelling, is a category of modelling that takes place predominantly in the beauty industry – so skincare, make-up and cosmetics. Models regularly require extremely close-up photos of their faces, or parts of their faces, so it’s important beauty models are well-groomed and take care of their skin, hair and nails."

Muu is very expressive when it comes to her emotions and feelings. If something bothers her, she will not hesitate to be blunt about it. An event that made her upset? She will show her sadness by crying, will be vocal about it. An action that made her happy? Her body language is easy to read and, with a confident and pretty smile, she'll show her cheerfulness!

Moreover, Muu is able to change her emotions very quickly and easily.

A good example is in her first voice drama, where Muu, after many minutes of crying, is changing her attitude in a few seconds, after seeing Es talking with Jackalope.

So Muu can easily be a famous face model if she truly wants to!

Also, another interesting thing!

Muu is saying that her mother, who was once a model, is not active anymore.

"But while most female models are considered ready for retirement by the time they turn 25, males tend to start later and are more likely to make modeling a long-term career."

Although, 25 is not necessarily the age when female models have to retire, there being many exceptions, depending on how they maintain themselves, for Muu's mother it's very possible that she retired during that age!

If we take Muu's father age, based on this portal timeline conversation:

"Kazui: Hm? Ah…… Kusunoki-chan. Sorry for asking out of the blue, but how old is your father?

Mu: Eh…? Um… I think he’s 41…"

which is 41, and we consider that her mother is the same age, then, when Muu has been born she was 25 years old! The same age when most models retire! So Muu's mother most probably retired short after her daughter's birth!

🌺 Low Spoon Gyaru 🌺

Gyaru is one of those lifestyles that isn’t necessarily focused on luxury brands or bougie stuff but is high maintenance to some extent. High maintenance can be several things: effort, time or money. Here are my tips on doing gyaru with minimum effort for those who are low on energy.

Keep in mind for some things to be effortless the price may go up.

Gyaru has 5 “pillars”:

Tan:

Not every gal has to be tan, theres sub-styles that don’t require it such as hime-gyaru. The tanning in gyaru was developed to fight beauty standards in Japan. Depending on where you are maybe tanning is the beauty standard maybe it isn’t. To me the important part is having healthy skin you feel confident in so I’ll twist this pillar to hygiene instead.

If you’re low spooning opt to do the pit stop:

Basically one shower for everything:

- clean your body, wash your face, brush your teeth and wash your hair (if it’s hair wash day)

Some people may find it gross but honestly it’s convenient. You’re already there, water is already running. Instead of having several steps you can just do everything in one place.

After wards it’s just treating face, body and hair. Start by your face so you don’t have to rinse your hands whenever you change products.

You may find yourself a bit more energized and happy for once you’re all clean and ready for the day.

Clothing:

Personally clothing is relatively easy if you already have a gyaru closet going on however if you don’t thats fine. Stick to a couple of safe and easy outfits: comfy and sexy are two words that should be in your outfit. Gyaru isn’t really a clothing focused style and almost everything can be made gyaru as long as the hair and makeup are top notch. Choose your favorite feature in your body and exploit it.

Personally, to me my legs are my best feature. So I base my outfits around that. Shorts, skirts, socks and leg warmers are my favorite accessories. Notice how these outfits look gyaru but there’s no heavy accessorizing and nothing gets in the way? Thats what you should strive for

If making outfits is something you struggle with go to Pinterest and check some outfits out, look for regular outfits and see how they can be gyaru-fied. Everskies is an amazing app where you can create outfits as well. Try to create stuff there. Theres groups in apps like amino where you can get crit and ask for tips.

Keep the clothing you like at an easy access place, maybe the front of your closet, maybe a rack outside. Repeating items and outfits is ok.

Makeup:

Here’s where it gets a but more complex. Some gals say no make no gal, others say it’s completely fine. To me even though makeup is a huge part of it, gal is about lifestyle and ideals.

Personally I’ve managed to reduce my makeup routine from 1-2 hours to 5-15 minutes. Obviously makeup requires skill and practice so maybe what takes someone a minute may take you 5 (such as eyeliner or lashes)

To reduce time select that which you don’t enjoy and remove it. Heres a list of things I don’t do:

Foundation: I have acne, I used to hide it by wearing foundation but im not embarrassed by it anymore. I really don’t use it unless I want to have like a seamless moment for an activity or if im posting on social media. Most of the time I wear foundation im not really doing Gyaru makeup anyways

The nose contour: Im black, my nose doesn’t look good with the whole stripe contour moment. Plus it looks odd from the sides. If i do wear foundation I follow my natural line to bring definition back to the face but i try to avoid if

Contacts: not really makeup but I hate them

Basically most of my makeup centers on the eye area. And even then you can avoid some steps.

If you color your eyebrows you can be up to 3 weeks with color so technically you can avoid doing your eyebrows besides from brushing and grooming (if necessary).

You can get eyelash extensions, now days lash techs are posting their lash maps and some pf them are creating anime/manga themed lashes which match the appearance of some daiso lashes.

You can half line your eyes instead of trying to do a full line eyeliner look. This is easier put visually but hopefully y’all get the gist. I might do a tutorial in the future. Honestly makeup is the only thing you really need the spoons for and even then removing some aspects that do not serve you can reduce it by a lot.

Nails:

Get press ons. Seriously there’s a bunch of people on Instagram making beautiful sets and they’re relatively cheap. You only have to prep your nail a lil and put them on.

Hair:

Hair is a bit complex as it kinda depends on the sub style you’re under. However for most (excluding hime) you only need layers. To me gyaru hair is very similar to scene kids once they’re leaving the style. The layers are a bit long, there’s some nice facial framing, color and cute bangs. If your hair meets these, you can just leave it as it is honestly.

Braids are a low maintenance option as well as wigs. Or simply having your natural hair texture theres not a lot of images of gyaru hair outside of straight and wavy, but hair is hair you don’t need a certain texture to pull it off just the main features. Curly hair can have bangs and layers. You can do layers and bangs with braids + add any color you like.

Worst part about braids is having to sit at the chair for hours but if you have the spoons for it, do it, you can be up to 3 weeks (more or less) with braids so that’s something you don’t have to worry about for quite a while.

For wigs, I recommend wigs that already have bangs in them, you just need to plop your hair in a cap and pop it on. It takes practice but once you get the hang of it it takes no time. Also it’s best to divide it in 2: put your wig cap at night, put your wig on the next day, that way it’ll be less exhausting

For straight hair, get one of those hair drier brushes, takes less effort than a blow drier + brush. You can skip the iron and you get volume so you can skip any extra steps.

For those with wavy and curly hair, work on finding the right products for yourself. The diffuser is your friend tbh in this case is just technique and good products. +++ remember to put your hair on a pineapple and bonnet to retain the curls.

For easy hair styles:

We finally have our rules and guidelines all sorted out and ready to share with everyone! So here it is; if you notice any omitted or missing times or dates that is because those are farther in the future and we cannot predict the exact time they will happen.

We would like to reiterate that transphobia, homophobia, racism, antisemitism, ableism, and fatphobia do not have a place here in this fest; we will take down and reject prompts promoting those ideologies. We do not support J.K. Rowling's damaging views - though she is somehow the author of these books and owns the rights to them - we do not profit from or otherwise benefit from this fest based on the Harry Potter books in any way.

Prompting

Prompting opens February 29. 

This is an 18+ fest.

Anyone can prompt, whether you’re planning on creating or not, and each person is allowed to submit a maximum of 10 prompts.

A person with a disability doesn’t need to be the main character, but they do need to be one of the primary characters. Along the same note, the disability(ies) don’t need to be the sole focus of the creation, but it does need to be an important part of the person's life.

No cure-all fics, please! If you choose to give your character a disability that can't be cured in real life, please don’t magically take them away in your fic; disabled people can have happily ever afters while still being disabled.

It’s fine to prompt disabled people or mentally ill people getting sick, please don’t prompt sickfics in which an able person happens to be temporarily sick—they don’t count as a disabled person.

Marlowe was sleeping when it happened. They had just settled down for the night, drifting off as Solomon was washing up from dinner when there was a pounding on the door, and footsteps barging in. 

There was shouting, the clanging of dishes and Lo was jumping out of bed, rushing into the living room. 

The pot from dinner was on the ground in the doorway of the kitchen, the leftover soup spilling out onto the floor. Scattered voices broke through Lo’s panic as they realized the living room was full of people. Lo’s eyes scanned over the faces, settling on one man in particular, and their heart dropped as recognition came to their mind. 

He had the same cold look in his eyes, a scruff on his chin, a scar on the side of his neck. He wore a long cotton jacket, a simple linen shirt and pants with boots almost up to his knees. 

This was the same man- the one that had been driving the wagon. The man who had dragged that other poor vampire back to his owner and thrown him onto the ground, shaking and trembling. 

There were two other men behind him, dressed in dark cloaks, blocking off the front doorway to the house. Solomon stood in the entrance to the kitchen, holding the knife that he had been washing from dinner, panic written all over his face, two other men standing over him from behind. 

“What is going on?” Marlowe demanded, glancing between the men, and Solomon, hoping someone would have an explanation that didn’t lead to where Lo was thinking. 

“Ah good evening, Marlowe, I am Ivan Shaw, I’m sure you’ve seen me around town. I’m here to inform you that your vampire is under orders for retraining. We are here to collect it and see that the necessary measures are taken in order for it to be deemed fit to be placed back in society.”

Lo’s heart sunk into their stomach.

“What orders? What did he do?” Lo was panicking- trying to remain calm- trying to get answers but the look on Sol’s face said he was ready to use that knife in his hand and do what it took to get out of there. 

“You’ll find it all right here. We’ll need you to sign it over into our care of course, but if you refuse, you’ll find that you can be charged as well, and your vampire will be taken by force.” The man chuckled, pulling out a roll of parchment. “You won’t need retraining of course- but a trial in front of the council, and potential reprimands as are deemed fit.” 

Marlowe snatched the parchment from the man, and stepped in between him and Solomon, unfurling it to see the official document. They scanned through to find what they were looking for:

The following crimes have been provided with proper evidence for this conviction: Improper and immoral cohabitation, and beguiling and seducing it’s owner through illegal toxins. Due to the nature of these crimes, the vampire known as “Solomon,” has been sentenced to the minimum one month (30 days) of retraining.  If the minimum sentence is deemed inadequate towards the vampire’s retraining, further time may be required until it is declared fit to reenter society and rejoin it’s owner’s possession.  This contract states that the owner known as Marlowe, is temporarily signing over possession of their vampire for this retraining period. The owner acknowledges that the retraining facility be allowed to use whatever methods they deem fit to complete the vampire’s retraining, and that the facility will not be held responsible for any damages or injuries inflicted upon the vampire during it’s sentence. 

“We understand your confusion Marlowe, it’s a shame what this vampire has done to you.” Ivan stated, stepping forward. The man towered over Lo, and he peered down at them, a patronizing tone to his voice. “I’m sure once it is out of your home, it will no longer be able to spread it’s poison inside of you- and you’ll be free to think clearly once more.”

Lo shook their head, hands shaking as they gripped the parchment tighter, reading and re-reading those words over and over again. 

30 days of retraining. 

They were going to take Solomon away- they were going to take him- Lo’s darling- their love- their vampire. 

Solomon was Marlowe’s. These men couldn’t take him- Lo couldn’t let them.

“There must be- there must be some mistake. What evidence? What proof do you have of this?” 

“As of now, we have a witness that will remain anonymous. I’m telling you Marlowe, it’s a good thing it was reported when it was. Who knows how much longer you’d have been kept under it’s influence if we hadn’t intervened? If it’s been cooking your meals like we were informed then it’s poison is probably deeply ingrained in your system. Now, if you’ll step aside with me we can finalize the details while my men load it into the wagon. Come now, we don’t want to make this harder than it is.”

Lo glanced back at Solomon- there was a look of fire in his eyes- he met Lo’s gaze and his eyes softened- filled with fear, instead. Lo didn’t know what to do- there were too many of them to fight, they were surrounded. But Lo felt they would break in two if they were to drag him away. 

“Please,” Lo begged. “I’m sure we can come to some sort of understanding? Is this, retraining, really necessary?” 

“It seems you are still under it’s influence. I’ll tell you once, Marlowe, this is the law. You agreed to it when you settled into our village. If you refuse to hand it over, we are allowed to take it by force, but it will become property of the village. If you hand it over willingly, it will be returned to you at the end of it’s retraining. The choice is up to you.”

Marlowe’s panic began to rise, but they could feel Sol’s presence behind them. Lo turned around to see the vampire- looking down at them, holding back the tears in his eyes. Their eyes met for a moment before Sol was being grabbed. 

The two men behind him grabbed his arms, wrenching the kitchen knife out of his grip and holding him tight. Ivan grabbed Lo by the arm and held them back as the other two men by the front door surrounded Solomon on the other side. 

He was quickly thrown facedown on the ground, one of the men pinning his legs down, the other two holding his shoulders and pulling his arms behind his back. Marlowe bit back a scream of protest as Ivan held them tighter against his chest. They were going to take him anyway. There was nothing Lo could do. 

The final man withdrew a needle and a vial, quickly injecting it into Solomon’s neck. At that moment he screamed- thrashing against the grip of the men on top of him as he finally fought back, trying to throw them off. Even with his natural strength, it was still four against one- he was vastly outnumbered. 

Lo had lost all resolve. They were sobbing, crying and begging for them to stop as Sol’s body grew limp- the drug they had injected quickly taking hold. Solomon barely met Lo’s eyes- a whispered apology on his lips before he succumbed fully to unconsciousness. 

“Take it away. Marlowe and I need to have a chat.” 

The men grabbed Solomon, dragging his limp body out into the darkness, slamming the door behind them.

Ivan released his grip on Lo and they crashed to the floor, collapsing in a heap of sobs. 

“Now listen, Marlowe-” Ivan demanded. He bent down on a knee and placed a hand on Lo’s shoulder as they look into his eyes. “-you and I both know that you’re under no influence of any poisons. Everything we were told about you and that vampire was of your own free will. But the town council can’t have that story going around, so we had to bend the truth now, didn’t we? After all, you know what the gossip here is like. Word spreads fast.” 

Lo choked back a sob, shoving Ivan in the chest as they backed away. “You didn’t- you didn’t even let me say goodbye!” 

“Oh don’t worry, you’ll get to see your precious toy again- if you just sign the contract, it’ll be all yours once the 30 days has past. But Marlowe-” Ivan gripped Lo’s chin tightly, forcing them to meet his gaze as he leaned in close. “-if you refuse to sign, and if your dear Solomon gives me any issues at all while we’re working on it, I’ll make sure it’s time in there is a lot longer than it needs to be, understand?” 

Ivan held out the contract and a pen, placing it in Lo’s hand. 

With a sob Lo reluctantly signed the parchment, throwing the pen back at Ivan as he stood up and walked towards the door. 

“Don’t worry Marlowe,” he taunted, rolling up the parchment and tucking it back in his cloak. “Your little toy will be all shiny and new when we’re finished with it.” 

Lo collapsed back into the floor as Ivan walked away, the sound of the wagon rolling away from their house off into the distance. 

Their house was supposed to be safe. They were supposed to be able to be themselves here, to be free to hold each other, to love- to live. And now they’d been ripped apart. 

A piece of Lo had been ripped out of their chest and dragged away. There was a gaping hole, an emptiness full of pain that threatened to consume them. 

Marlowe lay there on the floor, shaking and sobbing all night long. There was no way they could go on, no way they could continue until their heart was returned. 

If it would be returned at all.

I’m pretty sure we all understand the reasons why restaurateurs have gone down this road. It saves labor, helps solve the problem of finding labor in the first place, and alleviates concerns of whether your employees will bother to show up.
