hi everyone. it appears i've caught a bad case of the very sick disease(TM). thus, here is why shunatsu/natsushu is canon to me and why you all should consider it. (and consider writing more fics for ao3. i can't pull everyone's weight alone, here.)

1) i haven't been able to find the story yet, but Voyage! The Cruise That Meets The Sea is right there. they could have picked anyone to be stranded on an island with switch during natsume's event. who did they pick? that's right, the frenchman with less survival instinct than he has tolerance for twitter users. also if cruise of encounters unbloomed isn't one of the fruitiest cards in the game then i don't know what is.

these are shu's hands. shu is taking a picture of him. he's taking it in PORTRAIT MODE. to CAPTURE THE BEAUTY. "oh wow what a pretty butterfly i must capture this butterfly next to you" THE BUTTERFLY IS NOT IN THAT FRAME DO NOT FOOL YOURSELF.

2) shinsekai. i don't think i need to explain myself but i will anyway. huge event, giant story, natsume knows shu well enough to make uncanny and terrible fakes of him (the smartest person in the room is able to either get a 100% or a 0%), the ending, the ending, the ending, THE ENDING, THE ENDING

3) this fucking card

everyone is offering their shoulder to him. all of his beloved and trusted nii-sans. and whose does he take, without hesitation and without him even offering? that's what i thought. look how comfy they look. i need to start fucking writing that natsushu café au i am going insane

4) this point is mentioned above but these two have a deep bond that goes seldom otherwise seen. even within the other eccentrics, very few get close to either of them besides one another, with the exception to their unit members (i'd say their relationship together actually matches, say, natsumugi for example. plus as far as i'm aware, not to throw shade, but shu hasn't pissed natsume off multiple times about dressing femininely to the point where natsume actually gut punched him really hard? i like natsumugi and all but, like, wow.)

5) sorry not sorry i'm dragging shinsekai into this again. did you see how shocked and overjoyed natsume was when shu called him by his name? when he finally said the word "natsume"? how he felt as though, because of shu, he was just as much a part of the old, odd family as anyone else? and how shu treats him as more of an equal than any other eccentric does????? and this is a display of that effort to do as such?????????????

6) both natsume 5* events so far have included shu in some way. and the event raison d'être happened alongside natsume's feature scout 2 banner. this evidence is paper thin, but i'm including it anyway because it drives me insane.

7) the way they look at each other here. i'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel now, but whatever.

8) i said so.

9) setting aside their history, their dynamic is still perfect. trickster silly insane but actually normal boyfriend x perfectionist no-nonsense normal but actually insane boyfriend? and they're very fond of each other in spite of (or because of) their differences? where they both have the capability of going full tsundere, but regardless are abnormally affectionate with one another? that's perfect. please give me an example of a better dynamic. i will wait here like Hachikō for you to return with one.

still not convinced? fine. you like shumika? consider, then, shunatsumika. you like natsumugi? consider shunatsumugi (and watch as shu and tsumugi get into a fistfight in bed). put your poly of choice all in a room with hidden cameras and witness yaoi take place before your very eyes. or you can be brave and do all four at once in the same ship. go nuts.

WHERE DO I EVEN START

tsumugi is nothing if not complacent and natsume is nothing if not stubborn so the key in this ship sailing is outside intervention (wonder game as a story and sora as a character fill this role)

post wonder game natsume and tsumugi kinda both get a bit comfortable in whatever slightly altered dynamic they have going on. natsume can admit that he loves tsumugi (under specific circumstances ie next door) but he wont really get into the specifics. he’ll play it off as platonic. tsumugi doesnt really let himself hope for more than he already has since hes a real “im just happy to be next to you ^w^” kinda guy

in my head theres some kind of shift here that causes natsume to become sort of restless again. some small pushes from other people in his life who see whats happening. definitely conversations with sora who can literally see the cognitive dissonance at play here

eventually natsume is just like “god damn it i do want more from this”

unfortunately hes kinda bad at deciding how to communicate this and it mostly results in him being kinda pissy and moody and confused

natsume is a distrustful person out of habit so he somehow gets it in his head that he needs to get mugi to say something first or else how can he tell hes being genuine and not just cooperative (<- this is super irrational given all the evidence he has to the contrary)

i imagine this would result in a kinda wonder game 2 electric boogaloo situation where tsumugi gets scared that natsume is mad at him and they have to have a confrontation where natsume just finally lets the cat out of the bag about his romantic feelings

tsumugi is very much like “wow i didnt think id get this far” but is going crazy about it internally

when they finally get together natsume is trying so hard to keep it on the down-low. his excuses to himself are stuff like “fans might act weird if this gets out” or “we might be seen as unprofessional” or “well its nobody’s business anyway” but in reality he just doesnt want to have to publicly admit hes down bad for tsumugi aoba (everyone already knows)

tsumugi, on the other hand, doesnt pick up on the fact that this was supposed to be a bit of a secret and will totally let it slip if the conversation goes the right way

eventually it becomes apparent that everyone already knows so natsume’s secretiveness lets up a little

natsume likes wearing lipstick sometimes and tsumugi really likes getting lipstick marks left on him

hair touching hair brushing hair smelling have you ever considered the possible homoerotic implications of hair dying

natsume’s cats love mugi more than they like natsume and this makes natsume somewhat annoyed

natsume is good at immediately picking up when tsumugi is pushing himself too hard

natsume goes to tsumugi when hes overstimulated or having a “i hate everyone and everyone hates me” kind of moment. they dont talk about it he just hugs his boyfriend until he calms down

they are simply in love your honor!!!!!!!!

— ??? This is kind of confusing but my general consensus is that if the ship isn't problematic, I wouldn't dislike it?

Hmm, maybe HiyoIba? It's just that the ship itself doesn't have a lot of substance and there's nothing romantic about the dynamic the two have. They're two girlbosses <3 It sits in the middle of being a rarepair but also not because polyeden..

Oh right yeah, I did say I don't like that Alkaloid simply places Tatsumayo as the father and nother but— TATSUMAYO itself, is a decent ship. We have the "eye colors match the other's hair" thing going on and the "person who thinks they don't deserve love and the person who loves them like it's breathing" energy.

Leo is one of the 3 Eccentrics. s!Ryusetai sorta takes a mix between c!Switch and c!Ryusetai's role in the main story

The unofficial Eccentric title I have for him is "The Sacrifice". > Everyone has one as well, and they are the following: > Mayoi : The Heartbroken > Rinne : The Laughingstock > Sora : The Scapegoat > Nagisa : The Traitor

He was not supposed to be the last Eccentric to be "executed"-- but Tatsumi didn't want Nagisa to be the last one "killed" or Rinne (since he was most likely to not comply)

Leo and Rinne have a sibling dynamic in the beginning of the War. They bickered a lot. Their relationship sort of started to turn south after the War (mostly because Rinne wasn't sure if him following Tatsumi's wishes were actually better for the greater good or not). It started to fix itself during the Trickstar era, mostly because Hiiro joined Ryusetai.

He has mixed feelings towards Tatsumi and Nagisa

Leo and Mao's relationship is like,, Natsumugi adjacent. Somewhere between there and Izuleo I think. Leo found Mao after the aftermath of the War and things kinda just started rolling from there

He and Hiyori compete for Mao's attention

Ryusetai and Undead grow pretty close during the Trickstar era

He is the only one of the 3 eccentrics who isn't a unit leader in RythLink and one of two that isn't in that agency (other being Mayoi, in Cospro)

mermaid anon i think u severely underestimate how much i like talking about enstars i have genuinely talked about it for nonstop hours in person to my qpp shoutout to them for putting up with me. all this to say that i will never say no to being enabled to say more things about enstars

kohiiai - oh theyre so wonderful. teenagers in love. im a big fan of kohaai and hiiai and kohii and its just smashing all of it together they r all holding hands!!!! kohaku and aira's online friends to irls arc is so funny to me u met oomf irl and they were hot . and then hiiro and aira care sooo much about each other they r literally best friends!!! and hiiro and kohaku r both really similar and really different people i think theyre fun as foils and also just as boyfriends . u cant go wrong with them to be honest

ryusei juniors - I ACTUALLY LOVE THEM SO MUCH !!!! nothing super coherent but i like how often shinobu calls midori handsome and tall its very funny of him i think. points at shinobu you have a Crush. they balance each other out well i think,, midori thinks things through a bit more than anxious shinobu and overeager tetora and tetora can help motivate midori and get shinobu over some of his fears and shinobu is just so earnest and loving and i think his being so unafraid to be his true self makes others around him feel like they can be their true selves as well. u know? they r all holding hands. i have a couple fics planned for them LOL

3-a trio - i think theyre so funny tbh. kaoru and chiaki is already a Dynamic but adding sena izumi in there?? wow. good lord. izumi's a really fun addition tho his tsundere nature plays off of chiaki's endless enthusiasm and earnest love well and he isnt afraid 2 call kaoru out on his shit, which sometimes kaoru needs desperately. they're unlikely friends but friends nonetheless and also friends that hold hands sometimes as a treat. its also just really funny aesthetically you have ur calm composed model in the dignified knights unit and then the blond flirty playboy surfer and then the Red Power Ranger. yeah. they're silly i like them

wait i like this question... ty cloud. ntmg shippers r either the most uncritical readers on the planet and ruin tsumugis entire character or are gods of fiction and have the deepest understanding of enstars. unfortunately the latter makes up suuuuuuch a small group of ppl that i end up not caring about the ship very much. its a popular ship and i consider it one where both characters commonly get pigeonholed into v obvious dynamics. anyways... im ambivalent!

- sora appearance. please. he is SO important to both natsume and tsumugi and i don’t think this story should go without him at least being mentioned

- EICHI AND NATSUME INTERACTION. their dynamic is fascinating to me and this natsume who has decided he no longer wants to linger in the past would deepen that i think bc i’m rlly curious as to how that’s going to play out

- in the same vein, natsumugi interaction! we haven’t gotten them since before the graduation story i think so idk if their dynamic has changed at all (even if only a bit)

- NATSUMUGI LANDMARK MOMENT. we got pleiades night, wonder game, and next door, LET THIS ONE BE THE NEXT ONE. 

- some sort of sappiness between natsume + the eccentrics. 

- not story related BUT. i really really hope natsume is the twilight pentagram center. he is the heart of that group twilight pentagram is for him he deserves to be the center. also idk if temp units have leaders but if they do..... natsume should be the one for altered

- tsumugi healing. tsumugi HEALING. coming back to the people who were a part of a very dark part of tsumugi’s life and being okay!!!! maybe even good!!!!!!! PLEASE.

I love them. They're perfect for each other.

I put "criminally underrated" mainly because a lot of people brush over the hiyoiba and nagijun dynamics within polyeden, but those are my favourites.

At any given point in time, I will be thinking about polyeden. My polyeden AUs are sprawling and unfathomable.

They are so so precious to me you don't even know.

Their dynamic is WAY more complicated than that of course I just grossly oversimplified it for the sake of funny.

I don't really know their whole deal but whatever it is, I like it.

I love them I love them.

But also polyeden and wataei are too canon for me I feel like they wouldn't have time and energy to maintain their own relationship beyond like. Close Good Friends.

Which is why I made myself an AU where I killed off the rest of Eden and Eichi (and also many other characters) as an excuse to make watanagi happen teehee! :)

The watanagi that I ship is the watanagi in my AU. Idk about canon watanagi they're just some guys to me.

the thing about natsumugi for me is that their dynamic is SO FUNNY to me like natsume threatening tsumugi on a daily basis and tsumugi just going "that's a bit scary but okayyy ^_^" so i like their interactions a lot but other than that... i can't really get into it?

not only i don't like tsumugi that much (like in general, not only character-wise), but i think it's also cause i don't really know how their relationship evolved after the war ended, so i'm just stuck there. :(

(also i always asked myself if natsume is serious about all the threats or uses them only to conceal his affection?)

— It has always been Kohaku :3 Like, the first time I saw his design, I vowed to try and get each one of his cards. (AND I DOOOO, I HAVE HIS SECRET SWAN CARD ON AN ALT I STARTED AT LIKE, THE LAST WEEK OF THE EVENT... ONLY THE SANRIO EVENT is not there but I won't really let it bother me)
