Hello everybody, hope you are all well on this Monday! We’ve got rain over here so Summer is far away at the moment. Ever since I saw the film Call me by your name, I’ve been reading for Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer. Their bond is very strong an special. It’s no surprise my first reading here will be a reading for Armie, ft. Timmy. You can say I’m a Charmie, so any hate for the boys will not be tolerated on my page. King of swords ambitious, fast-thinking, success driven, assertive, focused) He’s impatient, ready for action, ready to focus on work and something useful. Feeling restless (hence the head shaving, maybe?) Sitting around is not good for him.

House: with house I feel there is a new house on the horizon for Armiebig enough for the children also now he’s got partial custody. I also pick up he and Tim will try to have a place together but how that will play out with the children is something they have to think about

Stork: something new beginning. In a way Armie starts over again.

Bouquet: lots of happiness. I feel this will be an easier period for Armie although he gets restless. He wants to move things along. He still has lots to figure out.

Service (sacral chakra) For me: he’s someone always helping, serving, taking care of someone and being there for other people. He’s got to learn to do things for himself too, and learn that he can enjoy that

Destiny (crown chakra) What do yóu want? Take a risk form your own destiny. Now that you have found true love, go for it, together you’re stronger. It’s complicated but so much worth it.

Perception(heart chakra) The heart knows what the eyes can not see. The past is the past, let it be. Upwards and onwards. Allow yourself to feel good. He feels a bit sad at times, but only he can do something about it. Transformation is in the heart. What needs ending in your life? Focus on that. The experience will be richer if you allow it.

Impasse(sacral chakra) he’s a bit blocked, he doesn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. He’s got to allow himself to heal and to feel loved. Refocus, change direction if necessary. It will be okay in the end.

Stabbed in the back: they had their challenges and difficulties while Armie was away (Caymans, holiday) Tim felt betrayed and blindsided by the pictures with Lisa although he had absolute no right after the PR sham with Kylie, but still he was hurt.

Passion: Insane chemistry, having fun, liking each other equally, sexual thoughts, I think they have plans to meet up soon ( just after the reading Timmy left NY and headed to LA)

How does Timmy feel about Armie

Healing heart: healing from heartbreak. He’s slowly letting go, wants to go back to what they had before Armie went on his extended trip, because that was really good. It happened, let it go.

Cassette: replaying events over in his head, he’s got to let go of the past and also still has a little trouble of trusting Armie completely, but he gets better at it and it will be okay in the end.

Stabbed in the back: he really felt betrayed, but was a bit harsh, knowing what he himself has to do for his work and his reputation, so it wasn’t really fair to Armie.

He’ll find the way back, he always does. I feel him being a bit anxious again, also about work. He very much wants to be with Armie and cuddle. Find some peace and some rest. The arguments they have are meaningless and petty if you look at their story together, but like I said I think they like the banter too.

Roles explained below if curious-

EDIT: I FORGOT TO PUT IN CHARMY’S INFORMATION LIKE A DUMMY SO NOW IT’S ALL THERE-

Black Doom (Black Diamond)- The diamonds obviously. The other three aren’t here since their icons weren’t in the thing. And Black Doom is the top shit black diamond lol

Knuckles, Shade and Tikal (Pyrope, Malaya Garnet and Spessartite) - Garnets. Basically commanders that are second in command to the Diamonds, lead armies or large groups of gems on colonies for their respective diamonds as Diamonds can’t be everywhere. Knuckles is the only one unaware of his role- at this point in time only 4 of them exist but this could change.

Bark (Bumblebee Jasper)- Was originally a working class tank gem but got moved up to a more elite role due to his rarity and his high amount of success. (and also due to the fact Knuckles/Pyrope was believed been destroyed before emerging from the planet so he was kinda a pseudo-replacement in a sense)

Vanilla (Petrified Wood)- An aristocratic like gem, seen as elegant and graceful and she as a very important duty. She is one of the gems charge of the production and creation of organic gemstones, serving as a mother like figure to them. (i.e. ambers, jets, other fossilised gemstones that can be found in the ground and plant like substances. she doesn’t do the water ones that goes to other roles)

Blaze (Sugilite)- A very rare gem who serves as a judge for legal cases, mostly for cases that the diamonds don’t feel the need to overlook or simply can’t due to their duties.

Silver (Moonstone)- A rare and sought out gem, serves as an oracle who uses his psychic powers of future vision to tell gems their future. There’s very few of them and are highly valued.

Wave (Phosphosiderite)- An extremely rare type of gem. Works as an elite Inventor/Scientist gem. Very prideful in her job and loves to be an overachiever to try and look better than the rest.

Espio (Charoite)- A slightly rare gem working gem. A Stealthy warrior gem that is made for specialised assignments, such as being hired by other elites to spy on gems in the darkness or to remain as hidden guards. Perfection is key for their job.

Sonic (Benitoite)- A very rare gem. They few of them that exist are entrusted to command fleets of airships. Sonic/Benitoite found his job to be unfortunately very dull, in fact he found a lot of the life of the elite class a boring existence.

Honey (Imperial Topaz)- While there is a massive amount of Topaz’s, she is considered very rare and precious for her kind and colouration. Her job is to the an announcer/reporter gem. She tries to make it more entertaining but frequently is told off and to treat it more like a job.

Shadow (Mahogany Obsidian)- A rarer variety of Obsidian. They’re usually made to be elite bodyguards and escorts to higher class gems. Shadow/Mahogany was assigned to many gems but for the longest was the escort of Maria/Sapphire whom he came to adore and care for a lot. (platonically of course)

Vector and Storm (Rainforest Jasper and Zebra Jasper)- Jaspers are made to be massive hulking tank gems. Vector/RJ is considered a rare (albeit in his case slightly defective) variation are among his batch, while Storm/ZJ is a very common variation of Jasper (who would also be marked defective due to an... incident-). Jaspers usually work in big teams and both of them even worked in a team with Bark/BBJ but they were eventually split up. Vector/Rj was assigned to be a personal guard for Vanilla/Petrified Wood, and Storm/ZJ was assigned to be a ‘guard’/’guinea pig’ for Wave/Phosphosiderite

Big (Auralite 23/Red Cap Amethyst)- An extremely rare gem that is named Auralite 23 due to their stone type being a massive mix of 23 components of different gems, and Big/Amethyst is the latest and only one to currently exist. Big/Amethyst was deemed defective due to not being the size he should be, Amethysts are quartz’s and should be smaller and more all-around fighter, while he’s the size of a hulking tank Jasper and almost bigger than regular ones. He was experimented on before being assigned to the other Jaspers to work as a Tank warrior.

Mighty (Fire Agate)- Agates are assigned drill sergeants/troop leaders, made to keep other warrior gems (quartz’s, jaspers, etc) in line and train them if necessary. Mighty/Fire Agate is deemed rare for his batch but was also deemed defective due to his pacifistic nature.

Tiara (Tigers Eye)- A Look-out/Scouting gem, made to look out and run ahead on the battle fields for enemies. They’re small but sturdy and fast. She’s not rare but still rather uncommon. She was chosen by Honey specifically to help her with assignments.

Rouge (Pearls)- A beautiful and uncommon gem type that are made to be entertainers, usually with singing and dance. They’re loved for their looks and their work but they’re not respected.

Ray (Lemon Jade)- Jades are plentiful and are made to be personal assistants, different colourations being assigned/made for high class gems that request one. Even the Diamonds have their own personal Jades. Ray/Lemon Jade is an uncommon variation.

Tails (Heliodor)- An uncommon type of middle-class working class gems. They’re made to be aircraft technicians, building, repairing and working in aircrafts, usually in massive fleets. Most Heliodors emerge with two sets of arms to aide in their duties, Tails/Heliodor was deemed a defect immediately after emerging due to having an odd pair of tails instead of the usual set of arms. He was kept from being shattered due to Sonic/Benitoite taking him under his wing and he was assigned to work for him in his fleet.

Jet (Malachite)- A slightly rare type of working class gems. Malachites are assigned to be piloting gems. Jet/Malachite was marked a defect due to his size but since pilots are needed he wasn’t shattered, he is strictly only assigned to pilot supply ship drops so other gems don’t have to see him.

Bean (Peridot)- Common working class gems. They work in construction, more so in architecture and creating buildings for other gems. They’re abilities aide them in work. Bean/Peridot was assigned to make personal living quarters for Bark/BBJ. He was chosen as the ‘messenger’ so to speak to Bark/BBJ, letting him know of plans and getting his input on what he wanted for his quarters. They bonded over time.

Marine (Sard)- Common working class gems. Small-sized and plentiful but sturdy gems that are given jobs that require physical labour. They frequently work with other gems like Carnelians and Onyx’s. They’re usually in small batches at a time and usually are made to squeeze into tight spaces for labour work.

Gadget (Carnelian)- A more uncommon working class gem type. Carnelians and gems similar to their type are huge and bulking much like Jaspers, made to do physical labour and lift extremely heavy parts for construction of large structures and machines (like injectors).

Amy (Thulite)- A common lower class working gem. Thulites are a type of maintenance worker, usually in floral decoration. Ordered to make the areas they’re assigned to clean and pleasing to the eye. They’re work was thankless however and they’re not deemed worthy of a lot of respect.

Charmy (Honey Calcite)- Extremely common low-class working gems. They’re assigned as resource hunters. Hunting down possible resources or items that could be used and using their specialised bubbling abilities to attain them. They’re seen as weak and easily replaceable so they’re not that valued.

Cream (Amber)- One of the gem types at the very bottom of the Gem-kind Hierarchy. Ambers are massively plentiful in numbers but are very weak and easily damaged, so they were made to be servant gems. Cream/Amber emerged late and is a defective Amber due to being twice as small as most Amber gems. She doesn’t know of her real role on homeworld and the others shield her from the truth for the sake of her innocence.

Nack (Hackmanite)- A very rare gem type. Their place in the hierarchy is strange as they technically don’t exist according to other gems and are a secret that only the Diamonds know about. They were made to Assassin/Hunting gems to handle the more rebellious group of gems. Nack/Hackmanite was a defect due to his size but due to their being so few was kept alive and giving limb modifiers to make his physical form appear taller.

Zero/Infinite (Black Opal)- Middle Class gems that are now very few and believed to be completely gone and outdated. Opals used to be fairly big in numbers, used for their holographic abilities, usually making hyper realistic holograms for demonstrations. That is until technology began to evolve and their gemstones were used as a powersource for a lot of that technology. A lot of the Opal gem types began to rebel to save themselves but it proved unsuccessful. Zero/Black Opal was particularly rare in his batch. He was apart of a small group of Opals whom he had a very sibling like bond with them, he was the only one to survive his batch while the others were seemingly shattered and their shards used to power this tech. So Opals are now an extremely rare find and if more happened to be found, they are to be shattered.

Sonic Quilford AU Custom "Arcs"

As I slowly descend into madness from making all this from just wanting to rewrite Sonic Forces, I've added some extra bells and changed some of the whistles. And since I think these deserve more than just a simple mention, they're gonna get quick summaries here.

(In between Scrapnik arc and Frontiers) Dark Arm Ops: Two months after some freak meteor shower, Vanilla starts getting suspicious of the blue hedgehog's behavior and lack of any egg-esque scientists. Upon hearing her little girl and Ms. Rose seemingly get beat up, she turns to The Chaotix Detective Agency for help. What is going on with Team Sonic? Who's that strange hedgehog they run into in Soleanna, why did he only show up after Charmy found a Chaos Emerald, and why does he look like Shadow? And where is Robotnik in all this?

Inspired by SONIC.EXE, this story has Vanilla taking the main role, plenty of silly(and not-so-silly) detectives, time loops set up through an alternate take based off this headcanon by @autisticshadowthehedgehog (which are to be explained at a future date), and the return of Mephiles from Non Existence.

(After Sonic's 18th Birthday, but before TMoStH) Lune Kingdom: While still enjoying the downtime as Amy, Knuckles, and Tails have their solo expeditions, Sonic gets a message from Team Amber that he might want to come join them exploring a little island kingdom not far from Christmas Island. Upon getting there, it turns out the royal family could be in need of some assistance, as the Queen went slightly mad, Crown Princess Sonia feels drowned in work, the leader of the local street kids seemed to know something about them, and they want him to talk to some star nosed mole they call the Oracle? And here he thought Blaze had it hard being royalty...

I knew I'd integrate elements of Sonic Underground, and that includes Sonic's family members there. Aleena, Sonia, and Manic all have their part to play, along with the Oracle of Delphius(who gets a real species this time, even if it's with some water trauma for Mr. Needlemouse(Fun fact! Star nosed moles are semi-aquatic!)). Giving the role of Sonic's companions to Mighty, Ray, and Honey just felt right. The latter two have known him the longest, after all.

(Time Jump Fair After TMoStH) Angel Island Fight: Figuring the hedgehog and kitsunefox will be easier to kill off than Dr. Robotnik, Starline decides to try and overrule a choice made by the Chaos Emeralds themselves and supplant the 18yo speedster by getting Surge his role as their guardian. How will Sonic and Tails feel upon learning the platypus has found these two? Will Surge and Kitsunami stick with Starline, or throw him off the floating paradise? On a scale of 1 - 10, just how ticked is the 18yo echidna who lives on this soon-to-be battleground?

I feel like Starline didn't get to do much before his passing(which I'll get to). I mean, he vaguely worked with Robotnik during Metal Virus, tried to kidnap Tails that one time, did kidnap Belle, then broke Surge and Kit and then, BOOM, he's dead. So, he gets to do more! And, we get to see Sonic and Tails know their foes up close and personal, with someone getting angry from what's said as he walks back from Hidden Palace with Knuckles to go support his little brother.

(Time Jump Far After Angel Island Fight) Rush Reef: All of Team Sonic find themselves in hot water when they all end up sent to Blaze's dimension once more. After checking in with the Princess and tanukiraccoon pirate, it appears a trip down to Demon Island to find the Operator's Citrine is needed before Eggman and Egglock(Eggplant warlock, filling the role of Eggman Nega, who is fully Silver's nemesis). But can Sonic take the plunge this time? And considering Knuckles, who lives this far below?

I feel like there needs to be a full Team Blaze, along with a counterpart to Angel Island. Thus, Demon Island and its stressed, scared, oppressed last original inhabitant, Lotus the Sea Sheep(Sea sheeps are rare animals that photosynthesize like plants, as apposed to a mammal who lays eggs). Plus, a Sonic story that's mostly underwater is a rarity!

(Time Jump Fair after Rush Reef) Magic Show of Steel: Wanting a break, Sonic accepts an invite from Espio to join him in Casino Night for a week, because even with the violent reveal of the mayor as a badnik, business still booms. Especially for the city's favorite illusionist, Missy the White Rabbit. Yet, something in her performance rubs the hedgehog the wrong way. Can he, Amy, Shadow, Honey, and Espio figure out just what's happening before they all disappear? And just how close is a certain mercenary group?

Heavy Magician is my favorite Hard Boiled Heavy, and considering my plans for her in my Forces rewrite I'm still working on, I had to give her an arc all her own. Plus, we never get just the Speed characters interacting(and I want more interaction between Sonic and Team Chaotix in general). Plus, pretty lights and a possible Phantom Ruby fight between Magi and Infinite/Dante? Writing, become easier!

(Time Jump Far After Magic Show of Steel) Story Whirlwind: Upon noticing his primary fighter has chosen to fight him more than the blue blur and an impulsive stealing of two things Sonic really cares for, he starts getting paranoid. But, how much power can a book of fairy tales give? And how hard can it be to keep a cat that likes fishing and a government robot in captivity be? Let alone setting up Sonic's own friends to finish him off, and Kit's secret assignment...

Starline's death was too impassioned and having him get killed in a building caving-in was a cop-out. Fight me!

In reality, I really think just having Starline get crushed takes some of the joy out of seeing him stopped. It was just thrown into the Surge arc so they didn't have to bother with what we was doing anymore. Thus, a total change in scenario. And, an actual culprit. But, I think you'd need to ask the Emeralds. Make sure they aren't letting someone channel their darker sides though, or you'll meet Starline's shameless killer face-to-face. ;)

With Ace of Wands and Cups, I feel both are going to embrace new parts of themselves which they will get to explore through their growth. Their true north.

Even if there is conflict, it is normal with death and tower years, both Timmy and Armie are going through significant changes. I feel it immensely, they are going through this soul growth which will only make their bond even stronger, deeper. I look forward to it. ♥

So Charmie went to Italy, found Luca and asked him to defeat evil powers and bring their happiness back

Luca said that there was a mysterious ancient ritual that could help. It was performed over people in love and called "marriage". So Luca did his magic and Charmie were declared husbands

That instant all evil powers were destroyed and Charmie started enjoying their love and life again

They were even happier than before and evil witch had no longer any power over them. Charmie were grateful to kind magician Luca and often visited him in Italy.

I asked Drop her reasoning for it, so I'll do it for you too; what do you like about those characters? Why are they your faves?

Miles ‘Tails’ Prower: I think that the kid's abilities and special tricks make him fit quite well into Sonic, without the need to rely on cheap things like making Tails a mythical kitsune.

Sonic the Hedgehog: What can I say about him that hasn't already been said? He's sweet, he's gentle when he needs to be, and he's not above seeing his fights with Eggman as a game as opposed to thinking like a super hero would.

Vector the Crocodile: It's nice to have older characters in the series, and Vector's got the right attitude for an adult.

Big the Cat: Totoro in Sonic? Totoro in Sonic.

Charmy the Bee: It's nice to have one character that acts their age for once.

Knuckles the Echidna: When he isn't being flanderized, I feel you can make him work in a situation. Take, for example, his depiction in Riders.

Manic the Hedgehog: I just feel his character's pretty good for the series. Also he's not similar to Rouge despite

Cyrus the Lion: I feel he's got a more interesting personality behind his looks, and feel kimd of bad he's never going to be used again.

Trevor the Mouse: I think he fits the 'cowardly' role better than Antoine does, and I like to use it in a way that makes sense with him.

Oracle of Delphius: When you answer a straight-forward question with 'What do you think?' back, you've earned my respect.

Amy Rose: Amy I felt had always been a great character to have. She's kind yet a bit emotionally overbearing, she acts like a kid yet speaks wisdom from the heart, and her go-getter attitude makes me smile in ways Sonic can't.

Rouge the Bat: I actually really like that Rouge looks the way she does, and she really inst all that sexualized in the series (save for her DLC Costume, but even then it covers a lot).

Cream the Rabbit: Honestly, I like a character that just plays off the routine from time to time, and Cream's sense of family tends to get her out of that pacifistic mindset at times.

Vanilla the Rabbit: A canon parent? In Sonic? I'd like to see more of her, SEGA!

Marine the Raccoon: All joking about Marine being the Ultimate Lifeform aside, I really do think Marine's characteris similar to Charmy -- where she acts her age and isn't afriad to be looked down upon for her clumsiness.

Wave the Swallow: I kind of honestly love how Wave can admit to herself that Tails is quite good with machinery, and yet also talk with him about mechanics. I just like that aspect of her that's not really touched on.

Sonia the Hedgehog: Sonia, I feel, has the most character development in the show. She goes from someonewho can't stand to get dirty, and look down on others into a capable fighter for the Resistance. I wish other characters in the franchise had that level of change in them.

Queen Aleena: Look, if *you* could run around the entire world looking that fabulous, I'dthink people would appreciate her more. Jokes aside, I really do think people overemphesize the whole 'Aleena is a bad mother' because they don't pay attention to the scenes where she's either taking care of her kids or downright giving them clues to help themselves.

It’s kind of amazing how Charmies always guarantee that whatever Timmy does, it is somehow a hidden message about A. First he’s throwing shade at E, and then he’s putting on a show that they are friends? I can’t keep up with the pivoting. Is this how you used to think when you were a part of that fandom?

They have an explanation and excuse for every interaction, anon. Sadly, yes, this is how it used to be for me. At one point, I was cowriting a really popular fic that had a tendency to seem to predict or mimic situations that then happened. We became sort of fandom oracles in that way, but the thing was, we didn't know anything, we never knew anything. And nothing we ever wrote was actually what happened but through our Charmie goggles and the sort of mass hallucination that this ship became, we connected dots and saw things that weren't actually there. It's easy to be a sucker for confirmation bias, which is all any of this "proof" is. They want what they want, so that is all they see. Imagine someone like Tim with nothing better to do than throw shade at Liz with a movie clip and then think, "ooo, watch this, this will throw everyone off the trail" with a like to her anniversary post and a random post for a centegenarian. Everything means something to a conspiracy nutter. But to everyday people, they are just living their lives. You would think they would be happy that Tim still cares enough about them to like their posts, to leave ridic emojis on their pics. It sure isn't happening the other way around. To Liz and Armie, it seems Tim is no longer a priority. Don't know why there is no one talking about that 🤷‍♀️

For Charmies Rome is always special in this fandom. In January 2018 tim and armie were together in Rome alone for some time and a lot of people here think that this was the time when they slept with each other for the first time. Can you some cards for that? Did something happened that time in Rome between them?

I think at the time, Armie upset about not getting a nomination, and Tim comforting him, or talked him through his anger, made them even stronger in terms of their bond. But I feel they didn’t give in to the temptation to sleep together. I feel that’s later, I don’t know how much, but 2019 comes to mind. I don’t know why, because I am not really familiar with their timeline. But yes, they were certainly becoming aware of strong feelings. Probably why you guys picked this up.

When I found out there was very briefly a real chance we could get a Sonic Storybook game based on Greek mythology, I was pumped and immediately started planning a fic using the concept.  But, after so long and considering...everything, I think I need to just admit it’s not going to happen.

I still like the ideas I was able to brainstorm, though.  So here’s a rough overview of a hypothetical Greek mythology Sonic Storybook fic.

The title I was going with was “Sonic and the Muses’ Song”.  One of the nine muses (Calliope, muse of epic poetry) escapes the storybook world to find Sonic and ask for his help: her sister Melpomene, muse of tragedy, has sealed away the other seven muses for unknown reasons, and she is afraid the same will happen to her if she tries to save them herself.  Naturally, Sonic agrees, and he is brought into the world of Greek mythology.

Since hardware gimmicks were unfortunately a key component of the Storybook games, I wanted to see if I could play into that idea in an interesting way. (Even if it wasn’t going to be an actual game, I still wanted to think about it like it was.) What I settled on was giving Sonic a lyre he could use to activate special abilities gained from freeing the muses, with the strings of the lyre appearing on the touch screen of the Wii U gamepad.  Tapping one string activates one “song”, keeping the gimmick simple and relatively unintrusive.  I hadn’t figured out all the potential songs, but I thought things like the boost and Time Break would fit in well, along with maybe songs that give rings for defeating enemies, allow you to rewind from one death without losing a life, things like that.

As Sonic tracks down the muses, he meets numerous characters from Greek mythology portrayed by people he knows.  The early parts of the game include: Hephaestus (Tails), Athena (Amy), Hermes (Jet), Ares (Omega), Atlas (Big), Demeter (Sticks), Apollo (Blaze), Artemis (Rouge), and Icarus (Silver).  At some point Sonic joins forces with the Argonauts, here composed of Jason (Knuckles), Odysseus (Vector), Achilles (Espio), Calaïs (Charmy), Zetes (Ray), and Heracles (Mighty), and they come into some conflict with Poseidon (Storm).  This part of the journey ultimately leads to the hiding place of Medusa (Wave), who is also sheltering Pandora (Tikal) and the Oracle of Delphi, Pythia (Cream); it becomes apparent that Pythia knows more than she’s letting on, but she refuses to elaborate, insisting that if she explains now things will go very, very wrong.

The final muse is in the Underworld, because of course we have to go there at some point.  Hades is Shadow, another no-brainer, but he says he’s not taking sides in this conflict.  With all the muses freed, Sonic finally goes to confront Melpomene.  She is defeated, and reveals that the reason she sealed her sisters away was to prevent their power from being misused.  The Muses control stories, and the more stories of the gods are told, the stronger they become; Pythia foresaw that Zeus was plotting to escape the world of the story and conquer the real world, so Melpomene sent her to hide and then set about sealing the muses away so that the stories of the gods would die out and Zeus would be trapped in this world forever.

At this point, Zeus (Neo Metal Sonic) would probably make his move, and Sonic would need to find a way to stop him.  I hadn’t nailed down specifics, but I liked the idea of having him go back to the Underworld and find the remains of Chronos (Mephiles) for...something.  Whatever the case, Sonic eventually storms Mount Olympus and fights Zeus, unlocking a new transformation (as is Storybook tradition) that I was thinking of calling “Epos Sonic”.  I never got around to the details of the form, though.

Miscellaneous things: -Since Sonic always has an implied role in these stories, I was thinking he would be a stand-in for Perseus -Wanted to do something with the lotus eaters -Generic enemies would’ve included myrmidons, centaurs, sirens, harpies, and lamia -I was absolutely going to shoehorn in a joke about Echidna the mother of monsters

And, uh, that’s about it.  Really wish I could’ve wrangled this into a proper story, but I need to choose my battles and this had a low chance of actually materializing, sadly enough.  Hopefully you at least enjoyed this look at the possibility!

The temptation offered to Telos began to break down after mere seconds of her looking at it. As with Ilkilides so many moons before, she was already in the world that contained her ideal, and she was well on the path to it.

She casually tore and tied off her skirts as the facets struggled to produce some deeper desire or alternate interpretation of the contents of her heart. The heavy suede skirts she had favored in her youth would have been perfect, but they weren't exactly appropriate attire for a queen. And those damn merchants were so stubborn she couldn't get out of audience with them. Trouble in the Hewn City, one of the most mysterious places in Sornieth, whose denizens were mentioned in only the most trembling whispers, and their main priority was badgering her to re-open passage through Thunder's March.

It was far from the first time Telos had mentally marked the lot of them as completely up their collective asses.

"Having trouble, creature?" she called into the dark. "Come now, you're many ages old; showing me a glimpse of the exalted realm should be simple for you. My scion was still shedding her hatchling scales when she did it."

A sound like glass crunching and grinding underfoot rose from everywhere, so close she could feel it vibrating the hairs all over her body.

"I don't know what that emotion is, but now I know you can hear me." Telos clenched her fists inside the feathered bracers, willing the light around them to grow brighter and assure her that she was alone. "You're gonna wish Renat had gotten you first."

The grinding intensified, but just as quickly it faded away. No murky attempts at her desired world haunted the edges of the dark. She was properly alone now, and she reached to her hip to make use of it.

"Wake up."

The wildclaw skull mounted where her rapier usually sat didn't answer until she dug her fingers into the empty sockets and rattled it alive. "Alright, alright..." it whispered wearily, and then, as she lifted it to eye level, "Oh? Oh my my..."

It bounced out of her hand, and she lifted the oracle's veil up over hand hand in time to see the shape of the water seer take complete its materialization. He looked untouched, if not even better than when he had been alive.

"A body again," he crooned. "How charmi--" Telos' fist cracked into his face. The scales and flesh parted like smoke and a tooth sailed off into the dark, a deep crack fissuring Opal's skull from where it had been. He screamed and clutched at his face. Though she hadn't technically been able to touch his body, she had touched something far more important, and the ghostly image poured with blood that dripped from his snout only to vanish in mid air. "My thooth!" he groaned between his tiny claws.

Telos clenched her fists, not with anger but restraint. Her eyes glittered wild and merry with how good it felt to know she had finally repaid him even the smallest taste of the misery he had caused her. She could have happily crushed his skull right then and there and sent him to his second death, the whole way laughing about how close it was to the anniversary of his first. She could have turned him to dust beneath her fists, shattered him with a punch for every life lost, every home destroyed, and maybe, finally, she would have been free of the single burning coal of rage that still sat in her heart like a rotted egg.

But she needed him. For now. "You're dead, have some fucking dignity."

He shot her a glare, stregthened by complete loathing but weakened by his bleeding nose. "You weren't concerned with the dead having dignity when you had me pressed into a bucket of shit."

"Ground in under Hart's boot," Telos recalled with warmth in her heart. "Camellia said you screamed like a wounded harpy."

His anger diffused and his fear grew, and the more real he seemed to be. And sure enough the color began to seep back into their surroundings. Murky at first and then taking the definitive shape of some unfamiliar shoreline and of the wildclaw still alive and well in the company of Magdaer and Ascalon. But there was something unusual about it...

"What is that?" the specter demanded.

"A version of reality where your plans were more successful." She lifted the veil to look with one unconvered eye, and didn't see it. "We're in the company of an Outsider. Well, more like inside the Outsider. I brought you here to help me save my son, so don't get any ideas."

Despite what she cosidered an ample warning, the spirit of the seer was drawn almost immediately toward its living counterpart. A rumble shook the entire vision, and it faded rapidly to a single crystalized image. One, Telos noted, while checking her vision with and without the veil, contained an image of Hitth--despite the water see having never seen Hitth before.The grind came back with sadistic speed and enclosed on both Telos and Opal only to stop mere inches short as though repelled.

Opal had chosen. But Opal was dead; a spirit giving itself an intangible shape thanks to the strange energies of the Outsider's domain. If there was anything alive in him, it was Camellia's magic, and that too was an outside force. For Telos, it was quite the proof of concept that the wildclaw had been able to trigger Hitth despite having no brain or heart. But the essence was there, and that was apparently enough. Without devouring anything, Opal’s world shrank down to a single mirror image, and Telos knew that was how it gained facets. 

She also had context for much of the cryptic information she had been given by Techne.

“I kept wondering why it bothered to eat dragons when these are the source of its strength,” she mused as she approached the facet. “ Kept treating it like it had to make sense--maybe it ate our magic, maybe it really needed to eat us for some kind of sustenance. But it doesn’t. It eats us because it’s greedy.” She looked over her shoulder. “Not unlike you, who played with an entire clan’s lives simply because they were there and you were bored.”

Opal’s eyes were unrepentant, but he was a beaten and weary entity. Telos’ fist was merely the most recent shock in the string of punishments he’d received, all of which were paltry against the fact of his continued sentience. Lutia had taken the life from him, but Camellia had forbidden him his proper death. Nothing--not the offal, the spit, or even the shit--had proved to be worse than that.

It was with defeat that he asked, “What do you want from me, Telos?”

“You’re going to help me put this Outsider in its place.”

She gave her full attention to the facet, focusing her full attention on the shape of it. When she touched it, the vision of Hitth inside stirred and hissed. The words on the scroll rose to her mind.

You can never choose a reality that isn’t yours. But if true sight is with you, it is yours to touch.

The punch came as she’d been taught, winding from her leg to her hip to her shoulder and explosively out through the bracer. A brilliant burst of light magic flowed through the twisting wood. Inside the mirror surface, Telos briefly saw the image of the pearlsnatcher scream and distort before the whole thing shattered into a mercurial cloud and fell like cold ash.

“That’s one...” She looked up, feeling emboldened by the success, and was greeted by what looked like a dark sky full of glittering stars. Each one a facet that wasn’t hers. “Next one is on you.”

“I hate to break it to you but I’m not as good at punching things as I am at manipulation.”

She took a deep breath to keep her patience and grabbed him through the eye sockets, dragging the skulls and his half-manifested form behind her. “Just shut up and do what I say.”
