I've been itching to draw folk costumes for a while now so i figured i'd jump on the international Miku trend! These Mikus are from Ternopil, Ukraine; and Tula, Russia - one for each side of my family <3

I force my feet to move across the wilted and blackened grass. ... “Cardan,” I say in a whisper... As if in answer, the serpent draws back, neck curving in a swinging movement as though evaluating how best to strike. “It’s Jude,” I say, and my voice cracks. “Jude. You like me, remember? You trust me.” The serpent explodes into motion, sliding fast over the grass in my direction, closing the distance between us. Soldiers scatter. Horses rear up...Kelpies run for the sea. ... But the serpent pauses perhaps ten feet from where I am standing, winding around itself. Looking at me with those gold-tipped eyes.

I woke up in the early hours of the morning thinking about this scene, and how Snake Cardan heard Jude whisper his name from thirty feet away (It's canon that he's thirty feet away from her, by Jude's guess when she first sees him in the clearing). At the sound of her voice, he rushes across the distance between them and stops in the security position for snakes. (Snakes winding around themselves aren't positioning to strike. They're moving into a protective position.) What strikes me the most about this scene is that Cardan later tells Jude he only knew "hatred, terror, and the desire to destroy". So much so that he blackened the land and the trees wherever he slithered. So much so that anyone who came near him died.

He was himself, but he wasn't. But even in this stripped down form of himself, the mere sound of her whispering his name draws his attention, and he immediately RUSHES toward her and just...stops to rest in front of her. It's such a deep, primal sense of knowing someone and it makes me go absolutely feral. Even in snake form, he trusted her.

This also somewhat parallels the hedge maze scene in Cruel Prince, although I'm not sure it's intentional, when Cardan is high off his ass but still recognizes Jude by the sound of her cough.

I start coughing immediately. At that moment, Cardan's gaze goes to me. His eyes are barely open, but I can see the shine of them, wet as tar.

We talk a lot about how many small details Cardan notices about Jude's appearance from the get-go, but recognizing the tenor of someone's voice from a COUGH? Hearing their voice from thirty feet away when they're WHISPERING and you're A DAMN SNAKE???? HELP.

I spent a very long time trying to work out a Stone design and I'm still not settled! I'm sure like my other humanizations of Fallen London entities, I'll come up with a few <3

#blood cw #gore cw #fallen london #fallen london spoilers #whoooo wants to hear my design thoughtsssssss okay so #I colour selected from her art. she's mostly brown but there's a pale peach colour I've chosen to adopt #I think pale orange/pink works well for stone! pastel is like a half colour innit. she's a half judgement. a softer light #she has 'mountain limbs' referenced there's no reason to give her only two #esp since one of her parents is a crab. they're kinda hooved/claws/roots to reflect both her and baz #the outfit and part of the pastels is also that Stone is.... a princess kind of. i wanted to invoke that!#no one would call her this but the idea of 'maiden hidden where she can't be seen secret child of the king' is like. Her #maidens locked away often have pointy hats too. like mountains. solved it. all the neath mysteries. i won #she has cracked and the wound obviously because. folks. stop mining her! stop seeking immortality!! CHILL!!!#she's PROBABLY HAS cursed people but she's overall all ALRIGHT and in a TOUGH SITUATION okay. her dad fucking yeeted her into the dirt #oh she has tears of flint on her face. chose orange eyes bc Remembered Sunlight and blue for the Sky. half-lidded because half-sun.#as the monarch of monsters and princess of Shame I wanted her to look notably Different while not being the biggest deal of the design #you will probably notice the wound before the many odd legs or singular arm. she's way more human than my baz designs too #bc like. Stand aside horror movies, creepypastas and scary cryptid vids, I got the spooky scary monster to really scare ya good! Oh ho ho, you haven't seen a spookier fellow than this, just you wait til you run into this big scary boy! Witness the sheer horror of its pale skin, gangly limbs and big EEEEEEVIL TEETH! Frightening and unique! I've never seen such horror! Oh, you think he is smiling because he is happy and thus he just big friendly? OOOOOOH but this nasty fellow isn't actually nice smiling! He's big toothy grin is mean and nasty! AAAAAH SO SPOOKY! Why he look happy when he do the bad!?

Now that I have created the most scariest of scary guys, no doubt all the movies and creators shall be ringing me up to use my big creepy boy! No need to design anything else, this perfection is copyrighted by me! A billion dollars, please!

What do you imagine Jude looks like physically: Tall, short, curvy, slender, fat, muscular, toned, etc… and how pretty do you think Jude is? Like average looking but pretty enough, Celebrity pretty, Physically extremely beautiful BUT not as beautiful as the faeries, or just very beautiful and to humans a rare beauty but a different beauty from the faerie, etc…

truly i think she just looks so average (in a human sense)—which is not to say she isn't beautiful (i think every human is interesting and beautiful in their own way) but like. she's mortal in a world of faeries, which means her beauty is going to pale in comparison to the unearthly nature of her surroundings. i honestly don't love when people depict her as model-perfect—she's sleep-deprived, literally poisoning herself, and more concerned with making time for her daily workout than having perfect eyeliner. she sweats, musses her hair, tears her clothing, and wears pants even as queen for the sheer convenience

also, she's so buff. just a moderately short, absurdly buff, resting bitchface queen. i love her so much
