while i love writing about keith finding out about lance's death pretty soon after he came back to the team, but what if he doesn't? what if he doesn't find out about it for years?

this is like 3-4 years after post-canon, and keith is visiting lance. keith tries to convince lance to come run a mission with him, and lance refuses. he doesn't want to go back to space, and keith has had enough of his wallowing.

"you don't owe allura this much, to throw away your dreams!"

"i owe allura my fucking life, keith! i would've been long dead without her!" lance shouts back, and to keith, it feels like a slap in the face.

"what?" he whispers, taken aback.

"yeah, i would've died in red years ago, while you were in the quantum abyss," lance shoots back, venom dripping from his tone. "so i do owe her this much."

"lance-"

"no. my answer is no. i have to make sure i stay alive, for my family. they believed me to be dead for long enough." lance turns away, walking back towards the house. "don't ask me again."

keith watches lance leave, and it feels like his whole world has been turned upside down.

literally one of the best caretaker tropes ever!! specifically the one where the caretaker also has their own problems and can’t take care of the whumpee as well as they should.

its *so* good when the caretaker accidentally confuses, scares, or even hurts the whumpee. they didn’t mean to, but it reminds the whumpee of the bad things that happened to them in the past. maybe the whumpee is so frightened by the caretaker’s actions that the progress they’ve made is undone, or they cry and ask what they did wrong b/c they don’t understand, or they shut down completely. the potential for the caretaker’s guilt and hurt/comfort is high with this trope

When caretaker is frustrated. When caretaker is anxious. When caretaker is drunk, or high. When caretaker is tired. When caretaker is also injured. When caretaker is mentally ill. When caretaker is just having a bad day. When caretaker just isn't so easy to be around. When caretaker is impatient or too excited or a little brash or loud or seems too confident or their laugh is just a little too familiar or their voice lilts in just the same way or their footsteps sound just like whumper's always did.

It only takes a moment, just the right tone at just the right time when whumpee is in just the right headspace for it to become scary. Caretaker didn't mean to, of course they didn't, they might not even know what they did.

But sometimes, they do know what they did. They know they should not have yelled. They know they shouldn't have acted like it was whumpee's fault. They know they shouldn't have taken it out on them. Shouldn't have gotten so heated, shouldn't have started gesturing wildly with a knife in their hand, should never have even thought of threatening whumpee with it jokingly. It isn't a joke to them. It isn't funny.

They should never have become the reason for whumpee's tears.

Caretaker feels so awful about it, but the worst part is that whumpee forgives so easily. They can't even give them the just punishment of feeling awful about it, because to them it was warranted and deserved and they are too sensitive anyway and it's just a joke and it isn't like this hasn't happened to them a million times back when they were still with whumper. Caretaker is so nice to them, caretaker never hurts them, caretaker loves them. Caretaker never does anything wrong.

And when caretaker hurts whumpee... When there is physical evidence of their mistake, evidence that needs to be treated, needs to be looked at and talked about, one that will leave a scar, taking yet more skin from whumpee and making it theirs just like the ocean of bigger and smaller scars whumper marked their whumpee with...

Whumpee may eventually forgive them. They may be able to explain it to themself with enough time that it was an accident, or even if it wasn't, caretaker isn't like that, they didn't actually mean to hurt them. With enough apologies and never another new scar added, they will finally let themself not only hope, but believe caretaker didn't mean it.

But caretaker will never, ever forgive themself for it.

cant stop thinking about Bug Busters episode and how Raph leapt after Leo without a second thought, without fully awakened powers, without any plan. he just saw his brother in mortal danger and just. jumped after him.

how is it the moment Raph's family is in danger any sense of self-preservation flies out of the window...

and the more i think about this moment the more i get emotional, especially when i think about a very real possibility of Raph's powers not working and both of them ending either dead or heavily injured... or one (probably Raph) alive but second one (probably Leo let's be honest) dead. man. that'd eat Raph alive. especially since he acknowledged Leo was right about Big Mama and then he ignored Leo's request to give Draxum the bugs, failing to listen to his teammate again, and. can you imagine the guilt and self-blame? especially for someone like Raph, who sees himself as protector first and a person second? he's just 15 and learning how to be a good leader.

I have a horrible AU idea for Greed. So normally homunculi are said to be sterile, right? What if for some inexplicable reason Greed finds out he has a kid? Can be Greed 1.0 and/or post-canon Greed 2.0.

Ohhhh, that’s interesting to think about!

Again, I have several thoughts, depending on the exact circumstances. Like, most importantly, how old is his kid? If the kid is already an adult by the time Greed learns about them, it would probably be better for all involved lol

Because I honestly don’t think he’d be a great dad better than his own but that bar is super low lol (Maybe he’d also freak out at first, since he very much doesn’t want to turn out like his father…?)

It’s not because he doesn’t care, he would, that kid is his, they’re his “possession” so he’d obviously try to take good care of them, but that’s the thing, he’d try. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have much experience raising a kid. Though the idea of the whole Devil’s Nest taking care of a child is pretty cute, and that actually might not end in complete disaster?

I very much see Greed more as a better uncle figure. He can be left alone with a child without anything too bad happening (but not for too long probably). But he’d spoil the hell out of them - he encourages to always go for what you want after all. Not too sure how great such a kid would turn out to be if that’s the main influence tbh …

Also, it gave me the horrible scenario where his adult child learns of Greed, but by the time they meet, he’s Greedling so… Yeah, having a dad who possesses the body of a teen would be rather weird ig

But I feel like there’s lots of potential for fun scenarios, something like:

“Hey, dad, since you’re technically emperor, does that make me next in line when you die?” “If I die” 😎

or “Your highness, why’s this 40 year old calling you dad?”

On the sad side, if this happened some time in Greed’s past, that could be interesting to explore, since he’d have to deal with human mortality. Oh, and who knows what the other homunculi/father might do if they learn of that kid…?

Basically she's a nanny and she's sleeping with her boss (I've reamed her for it bc we're like siblings and it's a stupid move). It's kinda been building up since she got the job. But the dude is married and... its a whole mess.

BUT IMAGINE THE AU!!!!!

Buck is a babysitter/manny(?) and Eddie hires him. But Eddie secretly develops feelings for Buck and vice versa. It starts off with casual intimacy, like touches or something. Then goes to grinding and that sort. Eventually, it's casual sex. And boom. Feelings.

Oh, man. The possibilities for how this goes. The angst!!!!

Anyone know of any fics like this or do I gotta beg someone to write it (or do it myself)?

Let’s get one thing straight. Kiseki: Dear to me is NOT that show, but if it was, it could totally go into how much of a terrible guardian Chen Dong Yang is.

First of all, neither of his adopted kids view him as a parent, but a boss, which shows where his priorities lie. He promised one of his “sons” a chance to leave the mafia life in exchange for 4 years of prison as a bodyguard/meat shield. And then attacked his other “son” in broad daylight with a rubber bullet to scare the living daylights out of Ai Di, to force him to return to the gang, despite “being left alone” being a promised clause of his jail time.

I mean, mafia shows are usually rife with the toxic parent tropes that can allow childhood daddy issues to create whump, but I kind of like how Kiseki went “eh, it’s not that deep. We’ll leave crumbs, but pivot right back to boys in love and being romantic who has time for any of that” and they were so valid for it. However, if fic writers want to capitalize on those crumbs, I would not be opposed
