ciri/roche except everyone, fic
Geralt had assured her that Emhyr would not force her to follow his will, that he only wished to talk, but she’d heard all of that before. She could guess what his designs were for her. He had no heir but her, after all. If she was foolish enough to stay in Nilfgaard, she could expect to be married off within the year.
“Do you aim to court me, Vernon?” she asked, and he blinked at her in further surprise. His eyes were icy-brown, the dark kohl at his lids paling them further. “You’re asking an awful lot of irrelevant, personal questions. Isn’t the Emperor waiting?”
“Forgive me, my lady,” said Roche, ducking his head. “I’ve heard a great deal about you and only wished to know more. Your father speaks of you very highly.”
“My father died at sea when I was young,” Ciri said. “I hardly remember him. If he were to have fond memories of his daughter, he’d be remembering a little girl. Do I look like a little girl, Vernon?"
“No, my lady.”
“I’ve done some horrible, debauched things that would curl your Emperor's hair. I wonder if he’d speak so highly of me if he knew them? And you, Vernon, what if I answered you truthfully? Would you regret seeking to know me? I’d think so. No, I know so.”
Roche averted his gaze, his haughty excitement having wholly deflated. Ciri felt almost bad about it. He’d not been unpleasant to her.
who is this guyliner-wearing man???

Can someone please explain to me the entirety of Tissaia in part two of season 3? She summoned the thunder thing and did nothing with it? Then, committed suicide for some reason?

I've just discovered Netflix utterly failed to convey that "The Witcher" was split into two parts to their most casual viewers...
Netflix, if you're reading this, please take note...
Those two-parters releases are confusing as Hell!
Casual viewers - like my friend that doesn't spend hours reading news and articles of TV shows - apparently genuinely believed that Season 3 episode 5 of "The Witcher" was the series finale, and that the season ended on a frakking cliffhanger!
She's staying over at our house for a couple of days, and I asked her if she'd finished watching the show (because I wanted to invite her to watch Episode 6 with us) and she answered "Oh yeah! I watched all 3 Seasons!"
She had NO IDEA there were three new episodes (6-7-8) to Season 3!
I only ended up suspecting something was off because I knew the last few days had been crazy busy for her, she temporarily moved in with us on July 30th, and I went "no way she'd have had time watching the Season's finale between the 27th and the 30th".
Casual viewers (that boost viewership, yet aren't "superfans" that follow "everything Witcher") won't necessarily notice that the "new episodes" on The Witcher's TV show's thumbnail don't refer to the new season that has "already been fully released" in their minds!
They've already moved on to new stuff to watch!
And most will skip the credits/close the TV when they're done watching, so they didn't get that preview!
You not only find yourself with some people not interested in watching the show before all episodes are available (lowering part 1 ratings), but with some people skipping part 2, because they didn't notice the show had been split in two parts in the first place!

‘You’d like to know what they’re talking about, wouldn’t you?’ ‘Yes . . . No! And anyway . . . Anyway, I can’t hear anything. They’re too far away.’ ‘I’ll tell you,’ laughed the bard. ‘If you want.’ ‘And how are you supposed to know?’ ‘Ha, ha. I, my dear Ciri, am a poet. Poets know everything about things like this. I’ll tell you something else; poets know more about this sort of thing than the people involved do.’ ‘Of course you do!’ ‘I give you my word. The word of a poet.’ ‘Really? Well then . . . Tell me what they’re talking about? Tell me what it all means!’ THE WITCHER: SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 | A TIME OF CONTEMPT: CHAPTER 2

I find it very disheartening to see articles coming out from Forbes and other outlets not only criticizing The Witcher but calling for its cancellation because of season 3. Season 3 has been not only the strongest season, but it’s also been the most book-accurate season to date. The writers have seemingly learned their lesson from season 2 but instead of being rewarded for it, they are being punished.
And these calls for cancellation are making me raise my eyebrows because the articles have been quoting the video games AND consistently mentioning that Henry is leaving the show therefore the show isn’t worth it anymore. The direct criticisms I have seen laid out are criticisms of actual book events (a Ciri-centered episode in the Korath desert, Geralt getting laid to waste by Vilgefortz, etc.)
Season 3 has also been review bombed, with episode 3x07 having the WORST RATINGS of ALL the Witcher episodes. Episode 7 is based entirely on a chapter in Time of Contempt and is the first episode to feature only Ciri and focus on her. The show runners have recently released a statement saying that Ciri is the main character, not Geralt nor Yennefer, and it sparked an outrage so bad that people review bombed Ciri’s episode. Which by the way, was the best episode of the season and my favorite episode since 1x01!
I feel very angry about the reaction to TWN because it is incredibly disengenuous and directly hateful against Freya/Ciri. The show is not an adaption of the video games. Geralt IS the main/most important character of the games, but not of the book series. Ciri is. This show was never about Henry and to think otherwise just proves a majority of the haters were only ever here FOR Henry, only having known about The Witcher from the games, and never actually cared about Andrzej’s story like they are pretending to now.
I hope my statement was eloquent and made sense. 😅
