One of the biggest things VPNs do is get around censorship.
Now is the time to get a VPN that is not based in the US (preferably a country who won't share info with them if they ask, even if they have none to share).

To sort of expand on the whole Idea of Feferi's Beforun Self (Her Impassioned Conservation, if you wish.) and Troll Society, I'd like to put forward the idea that Trolls are for the most part, biologically (in much the same way Humans are predisposed to clan structures as the baseline familial unit but can through Generations of social engineering be made to follow a smaller Familial structure in the form of the Nuclear Family as long as seperate structures exist to suppliment the lost value of the Clan structure) that trolls require their caste based hierarchical structure in the form of, lets call them Expanded Hives for now or (EH) for short, and that the healthiest form of Troll society in terms of what they evolved for (much like how humans evolved to live in Groups of only a few hundred at most Hunter-Gatherer tribes later personified by the City-State.) Hive-based Blood-caste structure lead by a high-blood of some description (possibly Fuchsias, or maybe for the land-dwellers Purple bloods.) with those high-bloods being the longest-lived and thus predisposed to long-term strategic thinking and development of a EH, competing with other EH's likely with their own Mother-Grubs (though this is doing a lot of speculation on my part of course this is based on my understanding of Insects, eusocial or otherwise as well my own understanding of Human evolution, social structures, societal structures, ect.) This competing nature of the EH would likely keep the natural aggression of Trolls in-check via a "healthy" outlet allowing a more relaxed though likely still tyranical treatment of the lower-castes by the higher ones as even if low-bloods are more expendable than high-bloods they would still be outnumbered by them. however outliers always exist, those that aren't "normal" and thus go against the system, like Mindfang. From everything we know about the Signless he was working for a *kinder* Alternia, not an Alternia akin to earth (as his visions from of Blood were that of Beforus.) and thus the same would go for The Summoner although obviously by that point it was also about taking down HIC. Trollkind was likely not (biologically speaking) supposed to only have a single empress, with a single empire but rather be a competing set of smaller hives, thus when a single Empress took control of the whole system and imposed a single order upon all trollkind, things went to one extreme or another with no counter-balance as their is no incentive to restrain oneself in their rule beyond any political considerations like Rebellion of your noble castes or mass uprisings of the lower castes. Trolls share a collective subconscious, which we know for a fact, which is in part what leads me to the Eusocial comparison as well as the fact Trolls are extremely social creatures in a similar way humans are, as we see this across both HOMESTUCK and FRIENDSIM. and as much as I despise the Dubiously canon sequel material we do in fact see Trolls return that same system of Empress and caste-based ruling structure which is what I'd personally expect to see, evil Jane Crocker or not. On a more Meta note of the Narrative role this view takes, it makes Trolls (as they *should* be in my personal opinion, more *alien*. Trolls aren't human. They are a race of insectoid Aliens that gain a number of Mamalian-adjacent traits as they age and progress through their life-cycle with both examples of troll society leaning into this idea as, for as much as we know, Beforus was not under the control of Doc Scratch unless he lied. Doc Scratch also specifically made the Alternian Trolls more agressive which was done in part by hounding the Alternian Collective Subconcious with Terrors and eventually the never-ending space war likely did a lot of that job for him by the end of it. the fact that the Caste-System was in place on both worlds is what leads me to believe the caste-system in and of itself is a natural part of troll society through certain biological drives and psychological predisposition. I am at the word limit so I shall stop here. thoughts?
That's definitely an interesting way to see that. I'm very amazed, Anon!

Project Update #5
Progress over the past two weeks
I managed to create all of the levels that I will use in my game and my character has movement.
Upcoming goals for the next two weeks
My goals are to have a working turn-based battle system and start making cutscenes and dialogue.
Any challenges or breakthroughs
I had a hard time with ChatGPT when I was creating the battle system. At first, it got it right. When the enemy was defeated it would disappear. But, when I tried implementing health bars it kept on giving me new scripts to use and it wouldn’t work in the game. So, I decided to delete the scene and start over. At this time it’s not working yet.
Preliminary drafts or deliverables

I am still in the production stage. I just need to focus on getting my battle system working the way I want it.

Moots said they wanna hear about WIPs and I feel like I gotta get this brainrot out anyways so HERE I GO
I've only got three projects I'm actively working on right now, all of which are Owl House fanfics, although I've got ideas here and there for other things (video games I might've made if I weren't so burnt out, ttrpg characters that might need their own goddamn settings and stories to themselves, a Code Lyoko fanfic, music (mostly loads of disconnected song lyrics), 3D avatars, etc).
The Owl House fanfics in question are three(-ish?) fold:
Theseus Who?, a mostly-canon-compliant 5+1 post-titanification headcanon compilation that DOESN'T just let Luz keep her titan form (mostly it's just a bunch of changes along the lines of when Hunter's eyes changed color after Flapjack saved him). - It's actually sort of a tie-in to another, bigger fic I'm writing that's gonna be point 2, so you can assume anything mentioned in this one will happen throughout the timeline of the next one as well. - I've currently already got the 5 written, so now I just need to buckle down and finish the +1, unless I decide to do another sweep of edits (I think the excessive parentheticals might be too excessive). - - I only started it like a week ago, and I've been waiting for motivation to strike again to let me finish it for like half that time.
Masha and the Very Normal Nocedas, a mostly-canon-compliant sorta-multimedia veesha longfic based on the dramatic irony of Masha slowly driving themself nuts trying to piece together what the Deal is with Luz, Vee, and the rest of the Nocedas. - by "sorta-multimedia" i mean its got plaintext segments describing the story, journal segments of Masha recounting events as they remember them and trying to organize their thoughts, chat segments when the characters interact over text, and possibly more if I feel the Need. - I've only outlined the three prologue chapters and the following intermission, only have snippets and vague ideas for scenes for the main bulk of the fic itself, and have only actually written two of the prologue chapters and the intermission. - - won't start posting it until I at least get the third prologue chapter done, so I've got a usable buffer. Hopefully that'll be sooner rather than later.
The Overthinker AU (or "The Artificer AU"? name is also very much a work in progress), a canon rewrite that I think I'll actually split into a bunch of shorter "episodes", so I can appropriately tag each one, rather than tagging one monolithic fic with Everything Under The Sun. The basic premise is "what if The Owl House, but there's more time", both in the meta sense of "not bound by the 20-minute TV episode format" and the diegetic sense of "the broad-strokes plot of the show will happen over a longer in-universe period of time" (though I'm a bit stuck on just how much more time I want to give em). - for the most part, I wanted to put more emphasis on Luz's magical development, and extrapolate a somewhat wider magic system out of what we see in the show, but I also want to go into more detail on how her actions affect those around her, even outside of all the friends she makes (stuff along the lines of the little things the crowd mentioned while protesting Eda's petrification at the end of season 1). - I'm almost (reluctantly) thinking of pulling a Grapes of Wrath with it, structure-wise, by having main plot/character development chapters alternate with shorter intermissions focused on magical exploration, worldbuilding, and so on. - this project is currently just the scribblings of a madwoman in my private discord server and three wildly unfinished fics in my google docs folder - - one of these fics is Something Like a Bible, which is essentially a condensed version of the entire broader project, boiled down to bare plot and occasional commentary. Like a series outline and a plot synopsis rolled into one, though perhaps not quite the series bible it claims to be. - - - honestly I REALLY aughtta work on this one some more, just so I can get most of the Big Ideas out of my head and share them with people. - - the other two fics are currently untitled snippets of scenes from the project, one a sentimental/instructional note from Eda to Luz, and the other sort of a ragefic twist on the ending of Thanks to Them. - this project is gonna include tons of ideas from and allusions to other fics which inspired it/me, such as The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled by IdeaHunter, All that's at Stake by The_Lampman, and Decorative by TheTokenAro, to name a few. - I could make a whole post about this project on its own (and in fact, I have before), talking about all the little changes I'd make, the developments I'd include, the more sweeping changes, the additional themes I'd toss in, and so on, but there are some I REALLY don't think fit well into the "rambling tumblr post" format (and/or just don't want to spoil yet), so I shall Abstain (for now :P).
#toh#the owl house#fan fiction#fanfic#barely-tamed ramblings of a madmind#moots eat up#timestamping Saturday August 26th 2023 (at 11:02am PST)#in case you wanna yell at tumblr for not putting this in your feed until days later#like they have with all my other posts in the last month-ish for some reason

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ How I organize my Drive!
Do you have a hard time finding projects you started? Do you have 1000 documents called "Untitled Document"? When was the last time you closed all those writing tabs?
I'm going to share how I sort my Drive. Alright, so to begin with, I hate sorting by genre, pairing, whatever within my Drive. It just gets too granular! I use 4 folders (well, 5 if you count the umbrella folder).
As follows:
I feel like a genius for devising this system. I'm going to explain each of these folders in more detail below.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Concepts
This is for 1-2 sentence snippets of text that I think of when I'm out and about. I get an idea, I open a doc and write it down. Observe:
What you see is what you get! The docs themselves don't involve much more than what the title has to offer.
These work for all sorts of things! See:
Writing prompts for when you're blocked
Little moments to incorporate in your longer fics
Just getting a half-baked idea out of your head!
Why shouldn't you keep an idea in your head? Mostly because you'll probably forget it. Things happen in life! You could be thinking about nothing but your fic and still forget some detail you thought up when you were out and about.
In my case, this means . . . a plethora of terrible Christmas puns. But I'm still glad I wrote them down, because frankly I have no memory of creating this document.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Abandoned
I'm skipping a step here, but I want to go in order of the screenshot 😭
Do you ever write something and realize it just doesn't resonate with you anymore? Or that it has too many plot holes? If you've ever abandoned a fic for whatever reason, I encourage you to have a folder for abandoned fics. My rule of thumb is to never delete old work. Why? Lots of reasons!
Older work shows your progress! Something that gives me a big self esteem boost is going back and reading older works to see how I've grown as a writer. There is value in preserving the timeline of how you got to where you are now!
There will always be bits worth saving. Maybe most of the fic is garbage, but there's a little snippet in there that could be recycled for a newer piece. Maybe the characterization is particularly good. Maybe you coined a word that you don't want to forget about! Every piece has something to offer, even if it never sees the light of day.
Having a place to store old work can be just as valuable as having a place to store your concepts.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ WIP
Short for work in progress. This is the folder for everything between concept and completed!
Actually, a lot of these follow the same format as the concept folder for me.
The biggest difference is length! Most of these don't even have titles. A good majority of them are <1000 words, which is my minimum publishing length, with no coherent plot. Most of these will never be published, but that's okay! The time I spend on them makes me a better writer, and I have fun.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Complete
This is genuinely just a hall of fame for me.
Not all of these are published, and some of them never will be, but I think it's nice to remind myself that I am able to finish things. Writing takes a while, and it can be thankless, but putting pride in your achievements makes it easier to write long-term.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Naming Conventions
One more thing! You may notice I don't have any documents with the default title. You may also notice a lot of my placeholder titles are overly descriptive. This is just to make it easier for me to find things! Two or three words to jog your memory is endlessly better than this:
Where is the soul? What's in it? Should I be scared?
Do yourself a favor and write a quick title. It doesn't have to be the final working title! It's a placeholder that can be changed at any time, and it'll save you a lot of time that could be used for writing.
Alright, well, I think that's it! Thanks for reading this far. I hope this helps someone! Happy writing ♥️

Project Update #6
Whatʻs been happening over the past 2 weeks?
I finished my turn-based battle system, and I’ve started working on my cutscenes and dialogue. So far, two of my cutscenes are finished.
Whatʻs coming up for the next 2 weeks?
By the end of this week, I want to try and finish all of my cutscenes so that in the week after I can add music and playtest my game. In short, I will finish my cutscenes and add music.
Hiccups/Hurdles/AHA moments
I had a hiccup and AHA moment. On my forest level, I was creating enemy encounters (similar to RPG video games like Pokemon). I was trying to make it so that when the encounter is triggered and the player wins the battle, it would return them to the same position where the encounter happened. Although it would return them to the same level, it would not put them in the same position. Instead, the player would be put in a random position. I tried getting ChatGPT’s help with this issue, but the new scripts it kept giving me wouldn’t work. After thinking about what to do next, I had an AHA moment. I could turn this problem into a challenge for the player. Similar to what I did in my Spying Centipede game, every time the player would encounter and fight an enemy, they would be returned to a certain position. This time, they would have to try their best to avoid getting caught by the enemy. To me, I thought this would be a fun challenge for the player.
Any deliverable drafts to share?

Game Script: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T_9KUDHPekVSWqnfOuyW2X6AlFzaksV_EHz4LvbDD0A/edit?usp=sharing
Visual documentation of the progress. (Please upload screenshots, WIP videos, etc.)
Here are my cutscenes, dialogue, and battle system: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Flko02IkdBhe_aDMG4P9W4S6GBV3maPz?usp=sharing
Where you are on your timeline?
I believe I am still in my production phase, but I am almost in my post-production phase. For the next two weeks, I will be finishing my cutscenes, adding music, and creating a start menu.

YES oh my gosh thank you for sending me asks from the works in progress emoji ask game!! If anyone else wants to send some in OR reblog the list for themselves, it can be found HERE. As someone that has way too many WIPs I love any and every opportunity to chat about them lol
📌 - how do you organise your wips?
All of the planning / outline happens in my Notes on my iPhone that's synched with the Notes app on my Mac book, that's where I keep track of where I am in the fic, make important continuity notes, and scenes that I liked but didn't fit right get pasted at the bottom. These notes are all "Pinned Notes" and once a fic is finished they are unpinned. All of my fics live in Google Docs on my Google Drive and each fic as two documents that are titled whatever the fic is and then drafting (for example I have a Make Way for Ducklings document and a Make Way for Ducklings Drafting Document) the drafting document is where each individual chapter is written and edited, and then is copied over to the actual document when posting. It's kind of ridiculous and not very efficient but it is my system and I am sticking to it lol
🍓 - wip you think people will like most
Based on all of the polls I've done people seem to like Make Way for Ducklings and anything in the Infection Fic Verse the most! But also know people are excited for the SATVB sick fic!
Thank you so much for reading and sending these in! I'm so grateful that people have not only taken the time to read my fics, but also engage with me about them on the interwebs!! I hope you had a great day and that you have a wonderful night!

EGR Cooler Cleaning System
The EGR valve is a type of a hard-working part of the vehicle as well as the engine. It suffers high temperatures of the engine produced during the emission of exhaust gases. But it continues to emit gases and exhaust them while the engine is working. During the combustion of exhaust gases, carbon deposits on the valve each time the engine emits gases. If you own a used car, you know the way important it is to maintain your automobile working easily and efficiently. A clean engine can have numerous benefits, together with higher gasoline effectivity, and improved engine - EGR Cooler Cleaning
Our technicians must take away numerous parts corresponding to filters, air pipes, sensors, plugs and so forth to entry the direct injection engine’s inlet ports. To avoid any error messages after reassembly, we'll scan your entire automobiles electrical module. This equipment is specifically designed for direct injection engines as discovered on BMW, Audi, Volkswagen similar to DPF, DOC, SCR and most different direct injection engines - DPF/DOC/SCR Filters Reinstallation
Firstly, a high-functioning engine allows your automobile to move faster with comparatively lesser gasoline and battery requirements. It also lessens your car’s carbon emission which is ready to depart you with a minimal carbon footprint. Through our revolutionary Engine Carbon Clean technology, Flex Fuel is revolutionizing the trade. Finally, we use an air freshener within the automobile to offer it a recent odor.
Fuel effectivity requirements incentivize vehicle makers to supply low and zero-emissions autos by penalizing them financially in the occasion that they fail to take action. The CO₂ limit may be progressively decreased over time, so car manufacturers have to provide more and more environment-friendly autos and/or lift the share of zero-emission vehicles they produce. In worldwide markets the place fuel efficiency requirements have already been put in place, and this has had the effect of dramatically raising the supply of autos while driving down their value. Sean, my new PT
I saw a sports medicine doc back in the spring for my lower back pain, which has persisted since April 2022 despite ample rest, medication, 4 months of physical therapy, all kinds of exercises, and plenty of copays. This doc was amazing - so much so that I am now considering going into the specialty despite never having given it a second thought prior. Her treatment plan essentially boiled down to having me try working with a new PT, someone on her team with lots of experience with athletes in my age group and spine/hip pathology in particular. I finally had my first appointment with him today after booking it right after my MCAT (I know I'm generally healthy and in no place to complain on my own behalf but seriously smh @ our healthcare system bc patients always have to wait forever to be seen).
I love physical therapists, and in general, the study of physical therapy and kinesiology. For reasons similar to why I fell in love with yoga, I am consistently amazed by how such seemingly subtle stretches, movements, and form adjustments can make a world of difference in someone's pain or mobility, and how people I've met for mere minutes can tell me things about my own body that I've never known despite being the sentient soul living inside of it. I remember meeting Marcus (a personal trainer I got one free session with at my gym) and Kim (my physical therapist from Oct-Jan) and feeling stunned by how quickly they were able to catch on to my left hip instability. Today, Sean took my awe to the next level, and I knew he'd be different when the first thing he told me was that he could tell I was left-handed simply from the way that I walk.
He spent a solid hour and a half on his physical exam + teaching me about the how and the why my spine, sacrum, and - news to me - shoulder and cervical have been doing tons of compensatory work (possibly to restore equilibrium from my wack vestibular system. tbd on that) to, at the end of the day, protect me from collapsing, which in my case has resulted in a chronically stiff lumbar region. Yes, my unconditioned glutes, hamstrings, and core may be subject to improvement, but that fact alone can't explain the chronic pain, because if that were the only reason - wouldn't everybody on earth be feeling the same way? For the first time since onset, everything finally made sense. His clinical reasoning took into account all of my unique presentations and deficits, which was extraordinarily appreciated, because up until today I was only ever treated like a generic back pain patient.
E.g. My left hip is unstable when I squat. But why? Unlike the "general weakness" conclusion that I was fed since learning how to do compound lifts, so much clicked for me today when Sean said, yes, the left gives out first - but because the right hip flexor is severely tight, likely from the compensatory work that my spine has been teaching it to do. We did a series of stretches and adjustments together to try and loosen up my hip joint. I felt no different sensation afterwards, but when I tried squatting again - like magic, my left hip didn't give out nearly as much as before. The video evidence proved to me everything I needed to know. I scheduled another appointment with him about a month from now (because I will not realistically have to time or money to drive 30 min away on a weekly basis while I'm in school, also I never understood why I was seeing my other PT weekly because how much progress can I really make in a week?) and he gave me a program to follow until then. I plan on committing to it religiously.
Now that it's been over a year with this pain and consistent disappointment in my lack of progress, I was beginning to accept that this was my new normal. I went in to my appointment today, having almost forgotten about it since I scheduled it months ago, fully expecting to be given generic advice and planning on not seeing him again. I guess I still went because my subconscious had hoped that maybe, just maybe, something would be different this time. And maybe, just maybe, this time it will be.
