Nothing beats falling cardigan tbh. I am usually not a fan of mashups but holy cricket........that was literal perfection. It was the song that made me wish they never dated. Their voices work so well together and if you didn't know the songs, you would probably think it is a collab. It's a shame that it's not popular enough
this one? 💚
youtube
i'm still not over the imagery in the cardigan video echoing moments from the falling video to the point where it looks intentional, but was probably entirely coincidence? what, i ask the universe, was the reason?!
here's why i think there's a particularly captivating, almost old hollywood romance aspect to their story (and i always feel like i should be clear i don't say this in a current "shipping" type of way, but it is really an intriguing artistic question) - had they not dated, maybe they could've musically collaborated platonically instead, and it would be brilliant because their voices are so beautifully complementary (it's wild how good mashups are, imagine if they created something with intent that was real!). but. if they hadn't dated, and kept coming in and out of each other's lives, and each other's music, they also wouldn't be who they are. not even personally, but professionally as well. that great unspoken dialogue wouldn't be there. what is the album taylor creates following red if not for him? she likely would've pivoted into pop anyway, but that album would not have been 1989, at least not as we know it. (a couple of red tracks vanish too.) suddenly we've lost style and ootw (goodbye to question...? now as well) and ayhtdws and iwyw and hygtg and this love and i know places and wonderland. what replaces them? we'll never know. does any of the trajectory of her life stay the same? is 1989 even as massive? does she meet the same people, go to the same places? her entire career and catalog and life could suddenly shift on their axis. this is true across taylor's life, eliminate one experience, good or bad, and her path changes, but because 1989 was what it was, and serves now as a kind of crossroads, it stands out.
the same goes for harry in many respects - for example, made in the am no longer has certain songs, but far more than that, HS1 is now a *fundamentally* different record. when he goes solo, what does he create? how does it change him and his approach, his emotions, even the core of his songwriting? it's the epitome of - if one thing had been different, would everything be different today? (and i'm not saying the 1 is about this situation at all, but the wondering what-if still makes that a good way to describe it.) i wish we could hear what they might've made together, and yet i love what they actually have made separately. i wish they could work together at some point, but understand why it's impossible.
it's a little bit of a great love story that was never told, and it's a little bit of a potential musical meeting of talent that never happened, and it's a lot...choices and youth and the mystical way the chips fall.
timing is a funny thing.

Roronoa Zoro X CisFem Reader
34
Four rounds flew by with each team claiming two, though honestly, you and Zoro barely scraped by with your wins. The two of you worked smoothly together alternating and aiming without much vocal communication. Your opponents on the other hand grumbled and argued with each other every time Kid stepped up to serve.
Birdie never missed a shot. Not once - not even with her enormous half drunk boyfriend looming over her. This changed when it was his turn. She would try to guide his eyeline to an easier shot and help with his trajectory.
"Shut up will ya?!" he held the ball out in front of him.
The brunette rolled her eyes in frustration, "No wonder you lost before."
"Not the time, Kitty." Killer muttered from the sidelines.
"We didn't lose!" Kid's eye twitched as he tossed the ball too hard over shooting the edge of the table.
She was already pouring his shot when he turned back to her.
The crowd was definitely amused, you could say the same for yourself.
"You drink it." the redhead snapped as she held out the glass.
"You're the one that missed."
"It was your fault!"
"How was it my fault?!" she stood on her toes to meet his annoyed gaze.
He bent down close to her face, "Lotte."
She almost visibly shuddered as he growled her name, "Fine - this one time - to shut you up."
She took the shot and slammed the glass on the table.
"If you two are done flirting..." you chuckled as Zoro handed the ball to you.
"You don't want to know what their flirting is like." Killer shook his head.
"Gross." you and Zoro muttered in unison as he nudged you and nodded toward the table.
There was still an easy shot left in front of you. You were certain you could make it even as you swayed.
"After this we just have two more." Zoro murmured tipping your elbow up as you got ready to aim.
"Don't help her." Kid called, "That's cheating."
"Let them," Lotte smirked, "cheating won't help them anyway."
"Ignore them." Zoro leaned in so you could hear him.
"Right," taking a deep breath you aimed and exhaled as you tossed.
The ball circled the rim and plopped into the cup eliciting a cheer from the small crowd.
Kid cursed and chugged the beer as he handed the ball off to Lotte - who immediately, without a bit of showmanship or hesitation sank her shot.
You sighed and reached for the cup.
"I've got it." Zoro's fingers brushed over yours as he took it from you and downed it.
Now one cup remained in front of you.
You had to hope Zoro would make this next shot and Kid would miss on his turn. The room was starting to spin around you while also buzzing with excitement. This round would determine the winner.
Bets were floating around with Shanks who graciously offered the winners a cut. Still upset over the spat you had a few nights ago, he bet against you.
Zoro let out a soft breath as he centered himself and took aim.
Another cup down.
Unbothered Lotte grabbed the cup and guzzled the beer wiping her wrist over her chin and lips as she finished.
Tension filled the air as the room fell silent. Everyone watched Kid stumble to the table and squint raising the ball.
With a hollow thunk it bounced off the rim and rolled across the table earning some groans and cheers.
The pressure was on, you had to sink your shot. There was no way Lotte would miss.
Sensing your drunken distress Zoro leaned in putting the ping pong ball in your hands.
"There's no rush if you need a minute."
"Thanks Tiger." you murmured , "Ah, sorry....habit."
He smirked, "We'll talk about it later."
"Are you ever gonna go? I'm sobering up over here." Kid interrupted.
"Shut up," you snapped and glanced at his brunette, "I dunno how you put up with him."
"He is a handful." she agreed.
"Thin ice Birdie." he warned.
She only chuckled apparently amused by his annoyance.
You sighed and closed your eyes trying to steady yourself and tune out the throng of party guests watching. Opening your eyes again you focused on your target and tossed.
The ball floated right over the brim of the cup once again filling the room with noise.
Zoro handed off your shot. You gulped it down thankful that it would probably be the last one. As you set the shot glass down Lotte ended the game.
The crowd closed in on the four of you patting your back to comfort your defeat. You could hardly keep your attention on anyone for longer than a few seconds. The alcohol pumping through your system was finally settling in and it was getting harder to stand still.
"Hey, good game." Lotte held out her hand with a cocky smile.
She really did pair well with Kid.
"Yeah, no fight this time either." you chuckled, "It's almost like everyone wins."
"Except ya didn't, squirt." Eustass rumbled winding his arm around her waist.
"There's always next time."
"Right." Kid laughed turning toward the porch to get some food.
As the crowd dispersed you realized your partner had vanished. With a small pout you chuckled sadly to yourself.
This was stupid.
What were you expecting?
Most importantly, you needed to sit down and sober up.
After letting Marco check on you he helped you into the den and drew the curtains.
"Just rest in here for a while, I'll get some water, yoi."
"Such a good twin I have." you chuckled plopping down on the floor.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
You hummed struggling to remove you're shoes, "Jus' gonna lay down."
"You have your phone?" he watched you pull it from the pocket of your dress before lying all the way down on the rug, "I'll be back but call me if you feel sick, yoi."
"Yes mother." you chortled sprawling out as he exited the room shutting the door behind him.
Left with your thoughts you tapped your feet together keeping time with the tune in your head.
"...Thinking maybe these
Stupid whiskey dreams
Are gonna to kill me soon,"
You chuckled to yourself as you aimlessly murmured the lyrics and closed your eyes.
"Tried my best
To go out last night
Saw some people, didn't care, couldn't even try
Thinkin' darlin' that
You should take me back
Before I loose my mind.."
The door clicked shut.
"Welcome back mama bird ~." you giggled keeping your eyes closed.
"Mama bird?" Zoro's confused tone sent all of your blood to your face.
"Ah - I thought you were Marco, he hates being called that." you dared to glance up at him as he crossed the room with a cold bottle of water.
"He sent me in with this for you." he sat down next you and touched the bottle to your neck making you shiver.
"Hey, rude." you brushed him away as he chuckled lowly, "Thanks for stepping in earlier. Ya didn't have to."
"I wasn't gonna let you have a rematch by yourself." He watched you sit up and lean against the sofa next to him.
"I'm mad that you aren't as drunk as me."
"I just handle it better." He smirked but you didn't miss his slightly rosy cheeks.
For a few moments you sat and took in each others presence.
"Look, I wanted to apologize fo-" before you could finish your sentence he tilted your chin to look you in the eyes.
His thumb traced your bottom lip, "Shut up."
That tone sent your heart racing, it was somehow stern, sultry and playful. You'd experienced it many times.
You weren't sure of the tiny string of moments that led up to it, but suddenly your lips were connected in a desperate kiss. You shifted to face him moving your hands up the back of his neck into his hair. Quick soft smooches allowed you to catch your breath between long deep kisses.
He pressed his forehead to yours, "I missed you."
"I missed you too, Tiger." you caressed his cheek and nuzzled his nose.

The Bangtan Gal Chapter 33- MAMA Awards 2014
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: While collabing with Block B, Jen becomes fast friends with Taeil. Namjoon and Jin's protective parenting begins to irritate Jen. The guys tease Jen over her love for Ailee. BTS get protective when a guy starts to make moves on Jennie, demanding that if anyone wants to date her, they'll have to get approval from all seven of them.
Genre: JenKook fluff, Jealous Kook,
Words: 7,000+
----
MAMA Awards was fast approaching as BTS and Block B prepared for their collaboration. There would be a rap battle, a dance battle and a singing battle. For Jennie, she received the opportunity to sing with Taeil, for the singing battle. His strong vocals and her harmony skills would be a treat for the fans. Although it was a battle, both groups thought of it as a mutual stage. She couldn't believe that she would be singing at the MAMA Awards. That was THE show to be on. So many iconic performances were performed on the show. She hoped to exceed expectations.
All she saw on Twitter were comments about her, wondering how she would do on stage at a big event like this. With everyone on the stage, working on their activities, Zico approached Jen, with Taeil.
"This is Jennie. She's the one you'll be singing with." He explained with a friendly smile.
Looking up, she returned his smile and turned to Taeil, who had a shy smile on his face.
"Hey, it's nice to meet you. Taeil, right?"
"Yes. It's very nice to meet you. I'm looking forward to working with you." He looked down at the ground.
Noticing his shyness, she shook her head in disapproval. "Oh no, you are not going to be shy around me. We are not doing this." She playfully teased, crossing her arms as he looked up, speechless. He wasn't expecting that kind of reaction from her.
Jen took a good look at him. A pair of black glasses framed his face and he was a few inches shorter than Zico. He was cute.
"I told you she's easygoing. You'll enjoy being around her. You two will be laughing and chatting it up in no time. Good luck, you two." Zico patted the two of them on the back and headed back to Namjoon to work on their raps.
"Come on, let's get to work and see how fast I can bring you out of your shy state with me." She gestured as they headed backstage. They soon find a vacant area with less commotion and sit down together at a table.
"So, what's your position in Block B?" She asked suddenly as she placed a notebook and pen on the table.
"I'm a vocalist. And you?"
"Same. I like your glasses, by the way."
"Ah, thanks. I just don't really like my eyes."
Raising a brow, she asked, "Why not?"
"They're small, so I usually just wear the glasses." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"Take them off, please. Let me see."
He glanced at her warily.
"I'm not going to laugh." She reassured as a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
He took the glasses off, setting them down on the table. Turning his head, he met her gaze while she tilted her head to the side, observing his eyes.
"Well? Aren't they weird looking?"
"Boy!" She playfully punched him on the arm, surprising him, but he suddenly started to laugh at her reaction. "Embrace them eyes! They look just fine!"
Her sudden compliment had his eyes light up as he felt content with her statement. "Thanks. That makes me very happy."
"You're welcome. And don't you forget that. So, any nicknames you go by? I'll keep them in mind for future reference."
"Future reference?"
"I'm sure we'll see each other again after the MAMA Awards. I'd like to become friends with you."
Taeil's mouth twitched briefly as he shook his head. "But we're already friends."
"Glad to hear!"
"For my nicknames, I usually get called sharkie, or fishie."
"I assume it has to do with fish?"
"Yeah, I take care of fish."
His hobby took her by surprise. Usually, she would hear people's hobbies like dancing, reading, singing, or working out. "That's very interesting. I never knew someone who enjoyed having pet fish. Well, for me, I usually get called Ennie and JW."
"Can I call you Ennie?"
"By all means. I'll call you sharkie."
"How do you like being here in this industry? Is it hard for you? Your Korean is clear and good."
"I'm always asked that and I feel like my answer changes sometimes. Right now, I just want to prove critics wrong. It's a bit hard being away from home and all, and I'm still trying to get used to getting more popular these days. I used to be able to go to places without any recognition but now, I feel the need to wear a hoodie or something, thanks to BTS' growing popularity. But I'm easy to notice because I'm chocolate, so...what difference does it make?" She let out a chuckle. "It's humbling though. It's an honor to collaborate with Block B, too. I'll work hard to make this singing battle successful. I admire your singing ability."
"You're very sweet, thank you. I admire your singing ability too. The feeling is mutual. Let's get started. They gave me an update on our singing battle."
"What did they change?"
"At first, they wanted us to sing more than one song, but since the segment is on a time limit, we'll only have time to do one."
Jen nodded. It was first supposed to be a BTS song and a Block B song. Each of them would sing each other's songs with each other, creating a custom verse for each song.
"So, they said we can either do Look Here by BTS or Nice Day by Block B."
"Hm. Okay. Which one do you want to do?"
"Ladies choice." He gestured.
"A-ight, then. I wouldn't mind performing Nice Day. I feel like the song is very funky and can get the crowd moving. Hm, then it looks like I'll have to do more work, with creating a custom verse." She pondered.
"Are you fine with that? We can always just do the BTS song."
Waving his concern away, she replied, "It's cool. I'm going to enjoy it. So how are we doing this?"
"Here's what I was thinking." He took her notebook and opened it to a blank sheet. He wrote down the first line of the song, which was his, and then went straight to writing the chorus. "You'll come in with the Ehs, singing it with me. We'll harmonize together."
"Sing it for me. The ehs."
Warming up his voice briefly, he began to sing, "Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh."
Listening closely to his range, she began to sing with him, in a higher pitch, bringing out a smooth harmonious sound. "Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh. Eh,eh,eh,eh,eh."
"That was pretty good." He praised. "We sound great."
"I like it. Okay, what's next?"
"After the ehs, you'll come in for your verse. Then back to the chorus. You'll sing the chorus this time, and I'll occasionally sing with you. Then we'll go to the whoas, and end it on a high note by singing whoa."
"Simple enough. Sounds like that'll be a blast."
Taeil was an easy person to work with and straightforward. He was patient as she learned how to sing the song and helped her write some lyrics.
"Put a little bit more power into it. It'll hype the crowd even more." He instructed, singing a strong 'Volume up.'
"I'll think of Christina Aguilera, then." She cleared her throat. "Volume up!" Her voice came out strong and raspy.
"Good!" He nodded happily as she kept singing
"All ma party people say. Shake it up yo head, agijagihan geon narang an majeunikka."
"Kkeutkkajiga." Their voices clash smoothly.
"That sounded so damn good!" She beamed.
As they continued working, they were at the last part for the high note.
"Can you increase your pitch just a bit?" She asked before they sang again.
"WHOAAAAAAAAA~" After they sing the high note, they notice all the members of BTS and Block B are watching them in awe.
How long were they standing there for? Some had their jaws dropped, while others widened their eyes.
"That was you guys!?" U-Kwon asked in astonishment, while the two of them grinned sheepishly, feeling embarrassed.
Before they knew it, it was time for the dress rehearsal. As usual, BTS are filled with high energy, dancing and jumping around, while Block B seemed to be tired.
"So, you mean to tell me...I can't do cartwheels on stage!?" Jen exclaimed to Namjoon and Zico. They both cross their arms, playfully responding with an unamused expression. "No? Okay, maybe next year." She turned to the camera, which was filming a documentary on their preparation for the MAMA Awards. "One of these MAMA Awards, I will do cartwheels on stage. I think that'll be fun."
----
It was late in China, and the staff scattered around, making sure everything was top notch for the show. From working on the lights, the music, and the cameras, the atmosphere was hectic with a hint of playfulness as everyone worked long and hard to make sure the show was a success.
Jen stood with Taeil, as the camera filmed them for the BTS and Block B hidden story of the MAMA Awards.
"Jennie and I have prepared a singing stage." Taeil happily mentioned while Jen nodded happily.
'How do you like working with Jennie?'
He was asked as he glanced at her with a smile. "She's ridiculously sweet and fun to work with." He acknowledged.
"Me? Really? This guy is so nice. He's fun to work with too. He's chill and very patient with me." she answered. Turning her head to him, she suggested, "You know, we should wear glasses while we collab together."
"I have an extra pair. You can wear that when we perform."
"Awe, really!? Yes, let me borrow them!" She clapped her hands together in excitement.
As the rehearsal went on, Jen stood off to the side to watch Zico and Namjoon practice. It must be fun to be able to perform with someone you've known for a long time. Their performance suddenly made her think of Angelina.
"Excuse me! You dropped this."
Her thoughts were interrupted as one of the sound engineers approached her. She looked up to see him handing her the choker that popped off her neck when she was practicing. When she met his eyes, she noticed that he looked around her age. Probably a few years older, with short black hair. Nonetheless, her mood was boosted when she noticed her choker was safe.
"Oh wow, thank you! Good looking out!" She bowed and examined it. "I guess it popped off while I was dancing. I must've had this on too tight. Thank you!"
Nearby, Jungkook stood with Jimin, ignoring him as he watched the guy that Jennie was talking to.
Who was he? And why is he smiling like that?
Annoyance started to overcome Jungkook as he watched the guy's lingering gaze at Jennie while getting distracted from his work.
Why did he have to stare at her like that? Why did he have that stupid smile on his face? Shouldn't he be getting back to work? Now he's distracted by her?
The way the guy smiled brightly when he watched her practice, suddenly made Jungkook frown.
"Hehehe, someone's annoyed~" He heard a familiar teasing voice.
Jungkook turned his head to see Jimin smirking at him, knowingly. He had forgotten that Jimin was next to him this entire time.
"Shut up, hyung..." Jungkook grumbled in response. Now was not the time for his teasing. He was not in the mood.
"Is someone mad~?"
"No." He firmly responded.
"Are you sure~?"
"Yes."
"That guy seems to be fond of Jennie, don't you think?"
"Hmph."
"It's cute, look at how he's staring at her. Oh, and he just started fumbling with the wires. Someone's distracted. Is that a little blush on his face?"
"Jimin," Jungkook called out in a stern voice. Ignoring his threatening tone, Jimin let out a goofy giggle.
"I wonder if he's going to ask her out. How long do you think it'll take?" Jimin pressed, oblivious to Jungkook clenching onto his mic, causing his knuckles to go white. "He looks like he really likes her. Look at how he's staring. That boy is in love~! Jennie and the cute boy sitting in a tree, k.i.s.s-"
Before he could go on, Jungkook stormed off, ignoring Jimin's loud laughter.
"Come on, Jungkookie! I was joking! I wanted to see your reaction! Jungkookie! Come back! Wait!" He walked after him, in a fit of giggles.
After rehearsing, both groups took a short break. Yawning, Jennie looked ahead to the same guy who gave her back the choker.
"Good job, that was a great high note." He praised with a smile.
"Really? Thank you. I think my mic is a little lower than Taeil's." She handed him her mic.
"Got it handled. I've noticed it too. So, what's your name?"
Letting out a soft chuckle at the question, she shook her head. "I think you know."
"Well, it's always polite to still ask someone what their name is." He replied with a smile.
She looked at him, registering his statement. That was nice of him to consider that.
"Jennie."
"My name is Shin."
"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Shin. And thanks so much for finding my choker. I legit just brought that thing. I'm gonna need to figure out if I should just buy a new one or see if I can fix it. It's broken since it popped."
"I could fix it for you."
"Oh, you don't have to do that, it's just a choker."
"By all means, I don't mind."
"Well, if you want. Thank you." She handed him back her choker.
"It'll be good as new by the day of the show."
"I dunno why but you look like you should be an idol or something."
"I get that a lot but I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of guy. You play an instrument?"
"The guitar. I'm so passionate about it. And I like to DJ for fun."
"Oh really? Maybe you should show me your DJ skills sometime."
"Nah, I want to DJ for Yoongi first. I did before but not live from scratch. I just showed him what I already played around with. So I hope you understand that Yoongi will be the one."
"Ah, it's cool. I respect that."
Meanwhile, Jungkook unintentionally let out a growl of aggravation as he watched their interaction from afar. His microphone in his hand was shown no mercy as he continued to tightly hold onto it.
"You all right?" Tae patted him on the back.
"I'm fine." He grumbled.
"Someone's moody. What's wrong with you?"
Jimin put an arm around Tae, laughing. "He's just-"
"Hyung!" Jungkook snapped.
-----
"BOOBS! NO! NO! AND NO! No boobies are showing on my watch!" Jin's frantic yelling in the hotel room was heard. Jennie let out an exasperated sigh.
"They're just balls of fat!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms up in the air.
"And those balls of fat will have the guys staring!"
"I don't even have anything!" She placed her hands on her chest, raising them up and down.
"You're still growing! Don't lie to me, they're getting bigger!"
"How do you know!?"
"Because Mama Jin knows best!"
It was finally December 3rd. The day of the MAMA Awards. BTS were getting ready, preparing for their red carpet appearance. A stylist had dressed Jen in a tight red strapless dress, that hugged her curves. As soon as Jin saw the dress, he nearly had a heart attack. It was too sexy. She was still young in his eyes to wear something like that. But Jennie thought there was nothing wrong, and she trusted the stylist's judgment on the dress.
"Jin, it's just a dress!"
"No, Jennie."
"This is bullshit. Like, really." She snapped in irritation. "You drawlin' right now."
"What was that? Say that in Korean! Don't go English on me, when I'm talking to you!" He scolded.
"I said you're drawlin' right now! The dress is fine! You are overreacting! My God, it's a damn dress. There's nothing wrong with it! You are freaking out over nothing! Shit!" She retorted.
She was so angry, she liked the dress, but his bickering began to piss her off.
"The answer is no." He firmly ordered.
"You can't just-"
"And that's FINAL!" He turned to the stylist, who looked frightened at their heated disagreement.
"Please change her dress." He pleaded, smiling apologetically.
Turning back to Jennie, he screamed in horror when he sees how her butt looked with the dress, while Namjoon stood next to him.
"Uh, excuse me, missy but where do you think you're going, with that dress on?" Namjoon crossed his arms.
There was no way she was going out there with that type of dress on. Not on his watch.
"Oh, my god! There's no problem with this, jawn." Jen shouted.
"That's too much ass, Jen. I don't want guys getting fresh with you."
"I think I can notice the fuckboys when I see one."
"Can you really? Guys will say anything to try to get in your pants."
"I know..."
"Do you really? Because your butt is getting bigger. And as you like to call them, your balls of fat, they're getting bigger as well and I don't want anyone getting any bright ideas. And they bet not stare or try to touch you."
"Namjoon, I appreciate the concern but my butt is a butt, I can't do anything about it."
"Why must it be so big!?" Jin complained. "This is too much!"
"Wait until you're 18 to wear this," Namjoon warned.
"I don't want her to wear that at all!" Jin whined.
Annoyed, Jen rolled her eyes. "Thanks mom and dad." She muttered.
After much debate with Jin and Namjoon, the stylist helped Jen finally settle for a short red two piece dress.
"Make sure it's not short in the back." Jin made Jen turn around as he examined the back of the bottom piece of the dress. "Are you wearing safety shorts? Hopefully, it won't show anything."
"Are you kidding me? I have the shorts on. It's fine," She sighed loudly
"Hm...okay, you're off the hook for now."
"It's nice and classy." Namjoon nodded in approval. "I like it."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah..." Jen huffed.
After getting her hair and makeup done, she left the room while Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi continued getting ready. Adjusting her black heels, she made her way down the hallway. Meanwhile, Jungkook just left his room which he shared with the rest of the members. He walked down the hallway and adjusted his red coat. When he looked up, he stopped in his tracks.
"Wow." He let out a breath as he stared at the breathtaking sight. He watched as she got closer, adjusting her skirt. He noticed that she was even wearing the friendship ring, just like he was. Looking at the ring on her finger made his stomach leap with joy.
Meeting his gaze, Jen's eyes light up, pleased to see him as she waved enthusiastically.
"Hey, Kookie!" She beamed.
And there was the smile he would never get tired of. He loved to see her so happy. Little did he know, she was annoyed by her previous disagreement with Namjoon and Jin. But once she laid eyes on him, her annoyance went away and she felt nothing but elation. He had that positive effect on her, but she was unaware that the feeling was mutual.
"What do you think? Do I look OK?" She gestured.
"You look..." He trailed off, taking in her appearance.
"Too much red?"
"Nah. You look gorgeous."
"Aw, you really think so? That makes me happy, to hear you say that. Thank you. You're not too bad yourself. Hold on, this has been bothering me, I'm tired of looking at this uneven collar." She adjusted his red coat while he looked down at her. "Have you grown overnight?"
"I don't think so."
"You're getting tall, Kookie."
"Oh really? Am I getting manlier?" He teased with a bunny smile.
Taking a step backward, she examined his outfit, head to toe.
"Hm...nope." She smirked with amusement and strolled past him, heading for the elevator.
Taken aback by her answer, he turned around with his eyes widened. "Y-YAH!"
Meeting up with her, he pressed the down button, ignoring her fit of giggles. "That was mean." He huffed
"Hehehe, I'm just joking. You're manly. And you look handsome. Just try not to kill the ladies with your charm." She nudged him.
"I could say the same to you." He nudged her back.
When BTS arrives on the red carpet, they get out of the van and immediately have pictures taken of them.
"Can you please talk with me during the welcome meeting?" Namjoon asked Jennie. "I'm feeling a bit pressured."
"Your English is just fine. Don't feel pressured. And yeah, I got you." she reassured him.
Each member stood on the red carpet, smiling and waving. Lights flashed quickly from all directions, making Jen squint her eyes briefly. One thing she disliked was the constant clicking noises when pictures were taken and the flashing lights. It was difficult to see at times. For this year's MAMA Awards, BTS were nominated for Song of the Year and Best Dance performance.
"Hello, we are..." Namjoon started off.
"BTS!"
"It's our very first time in Hong Kong, and we've heard so many fans in Kong Kong are really got those energies and passions for K-Pop." He continued.
Jen nodded and spoke up. "Yes, we're so honored to be here. We're excited, we can't wait to perform, and we are looking forward to our first MAMA in Hong Kong. This is such a big deal to us, and we cannot wait for our stage."
Jungkook was unable to hold back his smile as he looked down at his feet, listening to her speak in English. When she spoke in Korean, she would sound unintentionally cute. But her English voice would sound chill, yet gentle, with some sort of accent from where she used to live.
"We can't wait for the stage and just like Jennie said, we're so honored to be here," Namjoon added. "We've prepared an unpredictable and special stage, for this 2014 MAMA."
"Yes, whatever you do, don't take your eyes off the stage, you could miss something special." She teased with a smile.
"Yeah, it's going to be really surprising, I think it's going to be special and surprising. Thank you."
"Thank you very much!" Jennie bowed with the rest of the members.
After their red carpet performance, Jennie was approached by Choi Yeo-jin, who was one of the red carpet hosts. "Miss Bangtan! Do you have a moment?" She asked with a bright smile.
"Hi! Yes, of course." She bowed and returned her smile.
"Before I start, let's take a look at this two piece dress. Wow, very pretty."
Jen decided to turn around, for the camera, showing off the dress. "Thank you, I love this dress."
"How do you feel right now, at the MAMA Awards?"
"I feel awesome! This was always a dream of mine, to be here at the MAMA Awards, and now it finally has come true. I'm excited!"
"I can tell, you're so happy! Fans want to know; how does it feel to be the first African American in a K-Pop group?"
"Y'know, I'm thrilled that fans asked for more diversity in K-Pop and I hope I live up to the expectations. I do feel a little bit pressured because of the high expectations. Like, oh, 'will she be singing in English the whole time or in Korean? Does she know the culture well? Is this a publicity stunt or something?' but I'm proud that I have been proving to my critics that I am very serious about this position in this industry and I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm happy that my Korean is good, and becoming easier to understand for everyone." She answered genuinely.
She continued her answer in a passionate voice, "I'm happy that I'm still here, and I'm always thankful for my boys because if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today. Being here, it's very humbling. I get Instagram comments and tweets from fans saying that I'm inspiring them, it's so crazy. I always get excited when I perform with the guys. I don't think it matters what color you are, who you are, or anything like that, just follow your dream. Go for it. I've had my fair share of low times, failures and rejection and I know there's more to come, but you can overcome the obstacles."
"Her confidence is strong! I can tell you are very passionate and I do enjoy watching you perform. I like your charisma."
"Oh, stop." Jen let out a chuckle, flattered at her praise. "Thank you."
"Any advice you can give to foreigners?"
"Never be afraid to branch out."
"Which performance are you most excited to see?"
"Oh, you know I'm looking forward to Baekhyun! EXO~" She let out a giggle.
"Why him?"
"He's amazing in EXO. I'm a huge K-Pop fan, I'm a fan like everyone else. I'm a huge stan of EXO. I drive the guys crazy whenever I listen to other groups, dancing and singing obnoxiously to annoy them, hahaha."
"How nervous are you for tonight?"
"Right now, I'm at a 5 for nervousness. But just before I get on the stage, it'll be a 10. I always get nervous before a performance."
After the interview, she headed backstage to meet up with the rest of the members. Before she could go any further, she felt a soft tap on her shoulder. Turning around, her eyes widened when she saw G-Dragon and bowed at him.
"Long time, no see!" He greeted cheerfully.
"H-hey! Oh, my gosh, it's been a while!" She laughed while he pulled her in for a hug.
"It has. I wanted to say hey and check up on you. It seems like just yesterday when I attended my first MAMA Awards. You'll never forget your first MAMA Awards. How are you feeling?"
"I'm calm now but I know the butterflies will be coming, soon."
"Yeah, they'll always come. But I know you're going to be fine. I'm looking forward to your performance."
"And I'm looking forward to yours! You're gonna kill it!" She grinned while one of the staff members approached the two of them, telling them to go to their seats.
As the show started, fancams were filming BTS and their reactions towards the performances. As they watched the Last Fantasy stage with Girl's Day and Ailee, Jen let out a squeal when Ailee took her black hat off, revealing herself to be dancing with Girl's Day.
Tumblr media
"Hehehe, she's so happy!" Jimin teased.
"Ailee~! Jennie can't get enough of her." Tae giggled.
"Quiet!" She hushed them, feeling her face heat up.
As Ailee performed 'Don't Touch Me', the guys kept glancing at Jen's reactions and lipsyncing. As the fancams caught everything, it was safe to say that Jennie is the ultimate Ailee fangirl and anticipated the day when the two of them finally cross paths.
Jen continued to watch with happiness. Ailee's strong stage presence and vocals were amazing, as she jammed in her seat. Meanwhile, Jimin, Hobi and Tae giggled at her eagerness, while Namjoon let out a chuckle.
There was a time when a camera was right in front of Jennie, so she lipsynced the lyrics, looking at the camera with a smile.
After her performance was over, Jen happily applauded.
"*Cough* fangirl."
Jen turned to Jimin and punched him on the arm. "Shut up!"
"Hehehe, Munchkin was so cute, all happy for Ailee." Hobi giggled.
As the show went on, with John Legend performing, Jennie couldn't help but feel like she was being stared at and started to feel curious. Meanwhile, it was from afar, where GOT7 sat, where the culprit was. It was revealed to be BamBam, who watched her with a smile on his face.
'She's really cute.' He thought as he continued to watch her. He thought her reactions towards Ailee were infectious and enjoyed her enthusiasm. Just as he continued to observe her, Jennie turned her head around as he quickly looked away.
'I hope she didn't catch me.' He thought, as his stomach dropped.
He'd have to be more careful. He snuck in another glance before looking away, afraid he'd get caught.
Jackson laughed at his shyness. "Smooth."
"Shh! Don't make it so obvious!"
"Shouldn't I be saying that to you?"
Later that night, backstage, Block B and BTS prepared for their stage. They were right after Sistar. For the performance, Jennie wore a white crop top with her leather jacket over it. Her jeans were white and high waisted, along with a white bandana tied on top of her head. As she had finishing touches done on her hair by one of the stylists, the sound engineer, Shin, who approached her during the dress rehearsal, strolls over to adjust her earpiece. But she noticed him fumbling with the earpiece.
"Are you okay?" she giggled at his nervousness.
After finally adjusting the earpiece, he let out a short chuckle and tried to flirt, "Sorry, I don't really see a lot of foreigners here. And I wasn't aware how pretty they are."
Taking his flirting attempt as a sweet compliment, her face warmed up as she giggled. "I'm flattered. Thank you."
Meanwhile, Jungkook let out a sigh of annoyance, sneaking glances at the two of them while they talked.
"All right...it was funny at first but now I'm getting annoyed with this guy. He doesn't seem to quit, huh?" Jimin looked on, shaking his head. "I wonder if he knows that she's not interested."
"I hope so..." Jungkook mumbled.
As he watched them, Jungkook clenched his jaw when he saw Shin adjusting her bandana. Jimin was staring at Shin with the scariest glare, feeling the urge to protect her. He was too close to her.
Shin is a sound engineer, not a stylist.
Why was he trying to get close and touch her?
Why was he trying to flirt with her?
Having enough, the two members made their way to them. Noticing their presence, Jennie turned and smiled. "Hey, guys!"
Jungkook's anger dissipated as he replied with a smile. Meanwhile, Jimin spoke in a not so friendly tone, "I think some members of Block B need help with their mics. Now."
"All right, thank you. Good luck out there, Jennie." Shin smiled and left.
"Um, are you two okay? You look like you just lost in one of your favorite video games."
"Nothing!" The two boys replied.
No matter what, the Maknae line will always have each other's back.
Mission: Protect Jennie Successful
------
'Fight of The Century'
As soon as Boy in Luv came on, BTS walked out to the stage, hyped up. Jen shot the camera a rock on sign before walking up the steps to stand on the stage, with her mic in hand.
The roar of the crowd took her by surprise as she looked at the sea of humanity all around the venue. This was it. This was BTS' time to shine at the MAMA Awards. Butterflies in her stomach got worse as she smiled through the nervousness, acting hyped up with the rest of the members.
"Let's go!" She shouted, jumping around on stage.
Next up was Block B, walking out to NalinA. When they got on stage, both groups faced off before they heard a horn.
With the members leaving the stage except for Jimin, J-Hope, U-Kwon and B-Bomb, the dance battle commenced.
While the guys danced on stage, Jen stood at the back of the stage with Taeil, in the dark. He had on his pair of glasses and a large brown hat on his head. She put on her pair of black glasses to match him.
"Nervous?" He asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm shaking." She let out a shaky breath. "I dunno know about this."
"It's going to be OK. You're going to do great. We got this." He smiled in reassurance, removing his hand from her shoulder.
There were so many people, and so many idols watching. The heat was on.
As soon as Jimin ripped his shirt off, the crowd went into pandemonium, even making the idols freak out, especially the ladies. The sudden sound of the crowd, soothed Jen's nerves as she started to laugh.
"They're going crazy!" Taeil listened in awe.
"Oh, Jimin...what do we expect? He's always full of surprises." She responded, proud of Hobi and Jimin for their dancing.
As the lights faded out, Taeil walked on stage to stand before the ramp that connected to the stage where the Dance off was.
All ma party people ready~!
He sang out as the song transitioned to the chorus while the lights revealed him. He's met with loud screams and cheers as he performed, walking down the ramp as the crowd jammed out.
Where ma party people at
sikkeureopge hae
ttabunhan geu gamogeseo araseodeul
gieonawa oh tonight volume up
all ma party people say
Shake it up yo head
agijagihan geon narang
an majeunikka kkeutkkajiga
Let's go let's go let's go~!
The lights appeared down on Jennie as she walked down the ramp, singing with him,
EH eh EH EH EH
EH eh EH EH EH eh (have a nice day)
EH eh EH EH EH
EH eh EH EH EH eh (have a nice day)
"Show em what you got Jen-nay~!" He sang in a high voice and jammed to himself while she started to sing,
Tumblr media
Aye,
Everybody party it up
Everybody knows what's up
Let me give you a heads up and tell you how it's going down, right now
Let's raise the volume to the max and get loose.
You know this music makes you want to
Tell me why you're staying calm, it's time to leave the worries out the window
As she sang, Taeil met up with her in the middle of the ramp. He grabbed her hand and spun her around, as she grinned in response. He followed her, dancing around.
Dance for me and keep it grooving
Don't stop now, keep it moving
This beat is so funky, I can't control my body
Time to break a sweat on this dance floor
Let's get a little naughty
BTS, Block B, you know how we go
Hong Kong, at MAMA, you know how we roll
All ma party people put your hands up
Wrapping an arm over her shoulder, Taeil and Jennie rock from side to side in front of a camera, happily.
Me and Taeil goin' party all night, they can't stop our flow
Tonight is the night, we goin' show em how it's done,
Tonight is the night, now shake your body and lose your mind
Getting released, she sang the chorus, walking with Taeil as she pointed to the camera when it moved with them.
Where ma party people at
sikkeureopge hae
ttabunhan geu gamogeseo araseodeul
gieonawa oh tonight volume up
Taeil took over, singing, "All ma party people say, Shake it up yo head, agijagihan geon narang an majeunikka."
"kkeutkkajiga" They harmonize together, earning louder cheers. "Let's go, let's go, let's go~!"
EH eh EH EH EH
EH eh EH EH EH eh (have a nice day)
EH eh EH EH EH
EH eh EH EH EH eh (have a nice day)
As the piano played, Taeil did a scat, before singing out, "Whoa!"
Jen responded with her own, "Whoa!"
"Whoa!"
"Oh!"
"Whoa!"
"Whoa~" They sang their high note to louder cheers and then the lights went out, ending their battle.
Seconds later, Rap Monster and Zico were revealed on stage for their rap battle.
As Taeil and Jennie left the stage, she wrapped her arms around him for a big hug. "We did it, Sharkie!"
"We make a great team Ennie! We did great!"
She let out a breath. "That was so fun. And I'm not even nervous anymore, I'm ready for the next performance!"
After the rap battle, BTS gathered to perform Danger. When it was Jen's part, a camera showed BamBam jamming out to her verse with a big grin on his face. Afterward, Block B performed Her. After they finished, both groups gathered on stage.
"Ah, yeah!" Rap Monster rasped out.
"Let's~ get it started...in here~" Jen sang as the opening beats for Black Eyed Peas' Let's Get It Started came on.
And the base keep runnin' runnin' and runnin' runnin', and runnin' runnin', and runnin' runnin',
and Runnin' runnin', and runnin' runnin', and runnin' runnin', and runnin' runnin', and
Dancing to the beat, she stuck her tongue, dancing around. This sound was such a throwback as she performed with the boys.
-----
Headed backstage, Jen was approached by Shin, yet again, while Tae watched, unamused. There was something about him that Tae wasn't feeling.
"Let me know if I'm overstepping my boundaries with this question but, uh, are you seeing anyone by any chance?" Shin asked out of the blue, staring right into her eyes.
His question took her by surprise. Honestly, she wasn't expecting anyone to pay her any mind. Sure, she wanted to date in the future but she just met him and would like to get to know how before making a drastic decision.
She answered politely, "O-oh, uh, well. Sorry that caught me by surprise."
"Really? Shame that no one's noticed just how special you are." He got closer.
"I'm not liking this..." Taehyung watched on, alerted and decided to approach them, bringing Jimin along.
"I wonder how Jungkookie would've reacted if he saw what we saw." Jimin huffed, watching Shin in disapproval.
"I don't want to know or find out, man."
"U-uh, I'm really flattered." Jennie took a step back, bowing politely at Shin. He was a bit too close. "But time is a virtue. Let's get to know each other first. Let's be friends."
"HEY, ENNIE~!" Taehyung loudly greeted cheerfully, putting an arm around her, and pulling her close to him.
"Oh, Tae, Jimin, what's up, guys?" She smiled and glanced at them.
"I couldn't help but notice you and this guy talking." Tae narrowed his eyes at Shin. Shin raised a brow at his dirty look, hiding his annoyance at getting interrupted. "Sorry, but she's not interested."
Before Jen could comprehend what he just said, Jimin added insult to injury, speaking in a serious tone, "Yes, Jennie...our Jennie...our precious...precious Miss Bangtan, who is protected by SEVEN Bangtan Boys...is a very...very busy young lady." He stared at Shin with another one of his scary looks.
"Yes, and she has no time to be getting distracted. I hope you understand."
"Guys!" Jennie exclaimed.
"Well, can I at least get your number?" Shin suggested.
"Ah, ah, ah. No boys." Namjoon came out of nowhere, grabbing Shin's phone out of Jennie's hands. He handed the phone back to Shin. "She won't be needing your number. Carry on, man."
Jen exhaled sharply and stormed off, getting annoyed. Why did they have to do that? That was so rude. She at least wanted to be friends with the guy. What was wrong with that?
Back in their seats, Jen was pissed.
Jimin giggled. "She's mad~."
"Jimin, shut up." She retorted.
"I'm not feelin' that guy, Smartie." Yoongi put his two cents in.
"Yeah, you can do better," Tae replied.
"You'll thank us later," Hobi reassured her.
Jen's mood went back to happiness, acting hyped and fangirling over EXO's performance, as they start with Black Pearl. Baekhyun looked amazing as usual, as she was in awe.
"Really?" Yoongi shook his head. "You are such a girl."
"Don't talk during Baekhyun's parts, hush!"
As the performance progressed, she squealed, "Ahhhh, look at him!" She pointed at, watching Baekhyun sing his verse for Overdose.
"OH, SHE WANTS ME!" She grabbed onto Yoongi, shaking him.
"Cut it out!" He tried to push her off. Hobi, Tae and Jimin laughed at Yoongi's struggle.
Despite the annoyance in some parts, and the nervousness, the MAMA Awards was a success for BTS, and a night they will never forget.
------
Back at the hotel room, Jen shared with Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi, Jen wanted all the members to be in one room, to talk about the restrictions she had against talking to Shin.
"Okay, so are you guys gonna act like you didn't do anything while I was talking to him?" She asked. "What the heck? That was not cool. I'm trying to make more friends in this industry."
"And you will. Just not that guy. Look, you don't need to be around any boys. You should wait." Namjoon spoke up.
"Oh, mah God, I just want to be friends, that's all!"
"I honestly don't see what the damn problem is with her speaking to more boys." Yoongi retorted. "Leave the poor girl alone. She's smart enough to know which guys to watch out for. I just don't approve of that sound engineer. He seems corny. You can do better."
"Does she? This is a different country!" Jin exclaimed.
"So, what?" Yoongi bluntly replied.
"There's guys that want to experiment on foreigners. Especially a girl like her. I'm not letting anyone take advantage of her." Namjoon crossed his arms. "I am not allowing any guys to take advantage of her. Done deal. End of story."
"They won't, I won't let them." Jennie tried to explain.
"Well, you shouldn't just give your number out to just anyone! You never know what will happen, Jennie. You need to get that through your head. Do you know who we are?" Namjoon asked sternly.
Frowning at his lecture, she crossed her arms, stubbornly staying silent for a moment, before mumbling an answer.
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I said we're idols..." She grumbled.
"People sharing idols' numbers is common. You must be careful." Hobi advised while the Maknae line watched on, back and forth.
Jen turned to the Maknae line. "Are you guys gonna help me, here?" She gestured, but they shook their heads.
"We're all worried about your safety, too. We agree with the hyungs." Jungkook answered, seriously.
"Are you for real?" Jen shook her head. "I thought you would take my side!"
"Stop trying to argue with it." Namjoon scolded. "That guy seems fishy."
"Stop treating me like a kid!" She snapped
"Well stop acting like one."
Shaking from anger, she growled. "You are just so...UGH! I can't stand you! You don't tell the rest of the Maknae line who they can and cannot talk to, so why me? Un-believable! Are you gonna do this to everyone I talk to now? Because I find it hard to believe that this will be a onetime thing. You're freaking out over nothing! Stop babying me!"
Namjoon sighed out of annoyance, watching her storm out of the room. "Don't slam the-"
BAM
"...She slammed the door." He rubbed his temples.
Jin rushed to the door, opened it, and watched Jennie walk off. "The guys want the chocolate! But they won't get the chocolate! If they want the chocolate, they'll have to go through me!" He shouted as Jennie turned around, confused at his sudden outburst. "And I, Jin, do not approve of any of this! They will not get the chocolate! YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!"
"What is wrong with you!?" She rolled her eyes and got on the elevator.
"Huh? What chocolate? There's no chocolate around here. Is there?" Taehyung looked around the room.
"He...never mind. Forget it Tae." Namjoon shook his head.
Jin, grabbing the Bangtan Bomb camera, began to film. "We the Bangtan Boys have an announcement to make on our Bangtan Girl. To all the men out there. Older and younger." he spoke up.
"If you want to date Miss Bangtan," Namjoon added.
"Date our precious Jennie." Jimin beamed.
"Then you must get the approval of ALL seven of us! Every single one of us." Jin guaranteed.
"We will do background checks." Hobi pointed out.
"Ask about your education and work." Yoongi spoke up.
"And make sure you are good for our Jennie." Tae smiled.
"Ah, but she won't be dating until she's in her 30s. She has plenty of time." Jin smiled innocently.
"Should we start setting curfews for her?"
"Nah, let's not go that far. She'll kill us in our sleep." Namjoon laughed as Jin ended the video.
He knew Jennie would come around. He'll find her and have a long one on one chat. Things got blown out of proportion. But he hoped that when he talks to her, she'll understand where he's coming from. All he wants is to protect her.
After pondering, he exhaled and left the hotel room to go find her. She couldn't have gone far.
Back in the room, Jimin suggested, "What about Jungkookie? Should we set him a curfew?"
"Ah, he's a shy bean, we have nothing to worry about with him." Hobi patted Jungkook on the back.
"I dunno...Jungkookie isn't as innocent as you think." Jimin teased.
"IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD KNOW!?" Jin screamed.

Cooking with Love Who: Jade and Rodrigo with mentions of others. @jadeclark What: Rodrigo and Jade are having a blast on their honeymoon! Where: NOLA! When: April 9th, 2024 A/N: Jadrigo take a cooking class together, Rodrigo devours all the food, they act all cute and meet two special peeps! It's adorable and I freakin love it.
JADE
Jade had been thoroughly jubilant since the day of the wedding. It was now hers and Rodrigo's second day in New Orleans and she had already fallen in love with the city. From the architecture to the monuments, the food and of course, the music. She absolutely loved New Orleans and already decided that she wanted to return again someday.
Today, she and Rodrigo had taken a bus tour of the city, which included a stop at one of the cemeteries, a park and one of the less populated Café du Monde spots for beignets and some coffee. After a late afternoon nap and freshening up, they were on their way to a cooking class in their rental car. Jade’s eyes were alight, watching the passing city. "I can't wait to visit some of the museums tomorrow. The jazz museum, the World War II museum, the Ogden museum of Southern Art..." Her words trailed off as she  pried her gaze from the passing city to look at her husband. "But I'm excited about dinner tonight! I haven't participated in a cooking class in such a long time. I wonder which dish we'll end up making: jambalaya, gumbo... and making the pralines would be fun."
RODRIGO
It was only their second day in New Orleans and Rodrigo couldn't help but call this the best trip he's ever taken. Someday, he hoped to take Jade and their future kids to Mexico and all but for now, this was his favorite. It was a new environment, someplace he could cherish with his wife forever. This was their memory and it was so rich in culture that he couldn't get enough of it.
He was taking everything in throughout their trip, enjoying all the sights and all the food in particular. Rodrigo had to go back for beignets as that was officially one of his favorite spots. He wondered how a place like this existed right under their noses and he had never explored it. Rodrigo followed the GPS on their rental car while listening to his wife and he smiled brightly as she went on. Her thoughts were his thoughts but hearing her vocalizing her excitement just made him fall in love with Jade all over again. It was endearing seeing her so happy. She deserved this and more. While he kept his gaze on the road, he listened intently, smiling and appreciating her awe. "I have never done a cooking class aside from learning things from you and my mom so this is pretty cool." He chuckled as she listed all the potential foods. "Whatever it is, I can't wait to eat it." He smirked, adjusting his Aviators before making a turn. "GPS says five more minutes. Okay, so I know what you're looking forward to but what's your favorite part so far?"
JADE
"This should be really fun then! If it's like other cooking classes I've been in, they'll have some ingredients already measured out for us and we'll mostly be chopping and prepping produce and meats." She gazed out of the windshield and  pulled her phone out to take a picture through the window. As she did this, she thought a moment about his question and then said, "I think it was the tour of the city. I liked getting to see a little bit of everything and getting some historical facts along the way. Anne Rice's old house looks like exactly the sort of place she would write about in her novels set here. Even the cemetery visit was fascinating. And the fresh beingets at Café du Monde were so good. I can't believe how much powdered sugar they put in the bags but they were so yummy.  We should try to get some each day we're here." Setting her phone back in her lap, she said, "I know it sounds cheesy but what's really made all of it has been doing this with you. What about you, honey? What's been your favorite part so far, and what are you looking forward to the most?"
RODRIGO
"That sounds like a lot of fun and getting to do that with you? Hello? Even better." He grinned, keeping his eyes on the road, smiling when he caught Jade taking a picture from his peripheral. "Oh good choice. The tour was really nice and such a learning experience. We have to come back sometime. I feel like we can celebrate some milestone anniversaries by returning." He liked the idea of that, of creating their own traditions and coming back to the place they were already falling in love with. "And yes, please. I am so here for getting beingets every day with that coffee? ooo that coffee was so good." He smirked, nodding in agreement to her suggestion. His smiled widened as he looked for a spot. "Not cheesy. I feel the same way. You've made the experience even more amazing." He watched the rear end camera and followed the lines to park in front of the location. "Well, definitely the Cafe." As if food would ever not be the best part of everything. "But I did love the tour and I can't wait to see the Jazz museum. I feel like that's going to be a great stop." He opened his door to look out and make sure he was good in the spot, shut the door and then cut the engine. Rodrigo removed his sunglasses and then tucked them into the case in the car. He grabbed the keys and then exited the car, walking over to Jade's side to open her door and help her out. "And of course, I'm looking forward to this class."
JADE
Jade giggled a little at Rodrigo and then turned her phone on him to get a candid photo of him while he drove with his sunglasses on. She looked at the photo on her phone for a moment and then placed the device back in her lap. "I like that idea. We should absolutely plan to come back someday. Maybe instead of staying in a hotel next time, we can look into an air bnb or something in the French Quarter. That would be amazing to be able to look out at the city life from one of those beautiful terraces." She smiled at the way her husband spoke of the coffee with the beignets, "They would be delicious for breakfast or even a nice dessert." While Rodrigo parked the car, Jade placed her phone in her purse and picked it up from between her feet. "I think this might be the most unforgettable trip I've ever taken. We've planned so much for ourselves," she noted with a small chuckle and then unbuckled her seatbelt. When Rodrigo opened the door, she stepped out, accepting his hand with a, "Thank you," and walked in with him. The moment they were inside, they were greeted by the buzz of chatter from the handful of others in the space. One person came up to them to say "Hello," and get them checked in. He then directed them to a tall-standing table where they would be preparing their meals. Ingredients had already been set out, along with measuring cups and spoons, as well as knives, cutting boards, bowls and a pair of dish towels. Jade looked at the different ingredients and a grin appeared on her face as she looked up to Rodrigo and told him, "I think we're making gumbo." After saying so, she looked back at the ingredients and touched and index to her lips, thinking, "Although, they have a lot of similar ingredients so it could be jambalaya. But... I still think we're making gumbo today." She lightly gasped when she saw the sugar, corn syrup and pecans. "And we're making the pralines!"
RODRIGO
Rodrigo chuckled when Jade took another photo. "Hey! Ya little sneak!" He grinned at his wife and cut off his engine. "That's a fantastic idea! We'd probably have more of an authentic experience in an air bnb so I would be down for that. " Rodrigo would make sure they return for coffee and beignets a couple of times before they had to leave New Orleans. "Oh, I agree! We'll take some home too before we leave." He walked with his wife toward the location of the class and Rodrigo smiled politely once they were greeted.  Their table had all the ingredients and supplies they needed as Jade had predicted. He listened to his wife with a smile on his face. Gumbo was delicious so that already made him perk up. "Well, you're the expert here! I'm all for Gumbo OR Jambalaya." He chuckled softly when she gasped thinking how endearing she was. "You're adorable. I have never made anything this complex so I'm really excited!"
JADE
Jade giggled freely at Rodrigo's reaction to her taking his picture. "You look so happy and carefree, I couldn't help it!" She then reached in her purse for her new camera Rodrigo gifted her. She snapped another quick candid photo while he was parking and smiled to herself before putting it back in her purse. "I'd love that for us," she beamed when he responded about them staying in the French Quarter next time they came to The Crescent City. And once inside and settled at a table, Jade couldn't stop feeling so buoyant about everything, including her anticipation for the cooking class. "Im excited too, honey, this should be a lot of fun! And it looks like there are some shelves of communal seasonings and things. I hope we'll start soon." She looked around at the others there. A few people were individuals who were paired up at a table and two other tables appeared to be couples like themselves. The one nearest to them was an older couple who was looking over everything on the table in front of them. The man leaned over and seemed to whisper something that made the woman smile and look up at him with so much love. Seeing how sweet they were towards each other made her smile all over again. The instructor stood at the only remaining table and called for everyone's attention, welcoming them and going through some general safety tips. And although Jade had been listening and was ready to get started, she couldn't help occasionally glancing at the elderly couple.
RODRIGO
Rodrigo grinned at Jade's words. *Happy* and *carefree* were adjectives he was glad his wife was using to describe him. He felt both and she had everything to do with it. He glanced over, glad to see Jade using the camera he had gotten her as a wedding gift. He was already coming up with plans for their future visits in his head. He'd never forget this. Hearing how happy and in her element Jade felt, Rodrigo didn't care what they made. He was just glad to see her glow. Rodrigo looked around, taking in the place and how carefully planned everything seemed to be. He hadn't realized that his wife was doing the same until he noticed that her line of sight matched his. He had settled his gaze on an older couple endearingly caught up in one another. It made the corner of his lips twitch into a small smile and he looked away to check out their setting, the smile still there. He saw himself and Jade in them. It almost felt meant to be. When the instructor spoke, he looked up, eager to learn about what they'd be making but also hoping he could make friends with the couple he had been admiring.
JADE
Jade was fully enjoying the time she and Rodrigo were spending together. From their wedding day, onward, she was on such a cloud of bliss she'd never experienced for multiple days before. While inside the location of where they were having their cooking class, Jad tried to take her focus off of the elderly couple and hone in on the person leading the class. They'd finished their introduction to the group and then instructed everyone to wash their hands and begin with the roux and chopping the vegetables and andouille sausage that was at their stations and would be going into the gumbo. While everyone shuffled over to the few sinks around the room, Jade wnt with her husband and found them sharing a sink with the elderly couple. She smiled politely to them and said, 'hello' to them while gathering soap on her hands. The husband elbowed Rodrigo good-naturedly and said, "I think we've got the best-looking classmates here."
RODRIGO
When instructed to wash their hands, Rodrigo went off with Jade to do so.  It was a pleasant coincidence that they’d end up sharing a sink with the couple they had both been admiring.  He smiled at his wife being friendly and he nodded a ‘hello’ as well. When the husband nudged him, he smiled and glanced over to the two ladies and nodded. “Most definitely. How did we get so lucky?” He handed some paper towels to him and dried his hands. “Have you guys done this before? My wife found this event and we just had to do it. She’s always got the great ideas.”
JADE
Jade grinned through her bit of blushing at the exchange between Rodrigo and the older man. She pulled some paper towels for the wife and then dried her own hands as the man replied to Rodrigo, "I suppose we had the right lotto tickets in one pocket and a rabbit's foot in the other." The man had a bit of a Cajun accent as he spoke and then he smiled, "Sure have. We try to look for something to do together either once a week or every other week. Last time we took a cooking class was an Italian class." He turned to his wife, "'Member that, Bev?" he asked, balling up the paper towel he dried his hands with. Jade smiled to the couple and then the wife asked, "I remember. You two aren't from around here, are ya? You on vacation?" She'd looked from Rodrigo to Jade and then smiled wide, "Wait. No. You're on your honeymoon, aren't ya?"
RODRIGO
“ yeahhh that’s gotta be it. I’m Rodrigo.” After drying his hands and tossing the paper towel into the wastebasket, the school teacher extended his hand to shake the older man’s hand. “ that does sound nice though, taking a class every week. My wife and I like to do different things together. This was right up our alley.” When the wife spoke, Rodrigo was about to respond but then she guessed correctly. “That’s amazing! How’d you figure that out?” He chuckled, taking Jade’s hand as they walked to their tables.
JADE
"Jimmy," the man replied, returning Rodrigo's handshake with a firm grip of his own. "Oh we don't take classes every week. We just like doin' something fun - get outta the house once in a while." Jade smiled at him and waved when Rodrigo mentioned her and referred to her as his wife. It was still new and thrilled her hearing it aloud from him. The older woman introduced herself, "Bev. And y'all two just have that look about ya." Jade chuckled as well and introduced herself to the couple as well. As she held Rodrigo's hand, Bev said,  "Congratulation and you enjoy yourselves now," before turning to head back to the table with her husband. Jade was still smiling from the encounter as she whispered to Rodrigo, "They're so sweet!" just as the instructor walked the class through preparing the roux and advising everyone to dice most of the vegetables while the others could be cut slightly larger. Jade looked at the ingredients for the roux and the vegetables and asked Rodrigo, "What do you want to do, the roux or the veggies?"
RODRIGO
“Jimmy. So nice to meet you, Jimmy!” Rodrigo smiled at the man and nodded. “Absolutely ! I think that’s great. We’re the same. We’re always wanting to find something new to do or just go out on little dates.” He smiled at Jade when she waved and Rodrigo smiled at the older woman as well. “Bev. So nice to meet you. And thank you so much!” Rodrigo couldn’t stop smiling and he glanced at the couple a few times, nodding at Jade’s words. “They are! They seem so much like us. I can’t explain it.” Even though he didn’t know them at all, Rodrigo could feel a bit of a connection.  “I’ll do  the …” he thought about it for a moment and then responded, “ the vegetables. I trust you more with the roux!” He chuckled and placed the chopping board on the table before grabbing the knife. “ I just hope I cut these right .”
JADE
Jimmy leaned conspiratorially toward Rodrigo--who was notably taller than him--and loudly whispered, "I say it's the secret to a long and happy marriage." Bev smiled and gave her husband a good-natured shake of her head before giving the newlyweds well wishes and heading back to their table. And when Jade was back to hers and Rodrigo's table, she looked up to him and widened her eyes a bit, "I feel that way too. It really is just a feeling since we don't really know them but I had that feeling about them as well." Jade waited patiently for Rodrigo to decide what he wanted to do and when he chose the vegetables, she smiled and softly giggled, "Thank you, honey. And you'll be just fine. I have faith in you and your cutting abilities." While Rodrigo readied himself, Jade looked around before eyeing a pair of aprons folded at the far corner of the table. Silently, she criticized the instructor for not advising everyone of them and before she got started in the roux, she went to retrieve them. She first unfolded one with a few quick shakes at one corner, and then she stood behind her husband to wrap it around his waist. As she tied it at his back, she said, "I know your hands are busy." After affectionately touching the middle of his back, she turned on the heat for the saucepan, secured her own apron and combined flour and cooking oil, one after the other and stirring it non-stop with a metal whisk. "The day before we leave, do you want to do some shopping? We can pick out some souvenirs to bring back home for ourselves and our families."
RODRIGO
Rodrigo grinned at the man's advice, nodding and looking  towards the wives as he did so. "That's some solid advice, Jimmy. I appreciate it." He waved at Bev as they all went back to their stations but was sure to glance in their direction a few times as they began to dive into the recipe. Rodrigo listened to Jade with a small smile thinking about the interaction they just had with the older couple.  They looked so happy and so in love. He knew that would be his future with his wife and having a glimpse of that made him feel happy. "Glad we're in sync about these things." He then chuckled at her comment about his cutting skills. "I hope you're right. Oh!" He raised his arms so that Jade could place the apron on him and he then kissed her cheek in gratitude. "Thanks, honey." He began to cut the vegetables as instructed, placing them into a bowl as he finished each one. "I like that idea. I've gotta get something for my mom and Drew for sure and of course Fletcher. Maybe we can get Phoebe a cute little onesie or something." He continued cutting and then looked up, smiling at the older couple.  Bev was adjusting Jimmy's tie in the back and Rodrigo looked over to his wife. "See? They're like us."
JADE
Jade listened to Jimmy and Rodrigo with a gentle smile on her lips. It was nice to converse with two people who seemed to be from the area and yet exude a similar demeanor to them. She brightened up even more from Rodrigo having the same feeling she did about them. And when she put the apron on her husband, Jade grinned at his initial reaction and then leaned into his kiss to her cheek. "You're welcome." She got her apron on and got going on the roux knowing it was going to be a bit time-consuming, due to waiting on the heat. But she listened to Rodrigo respond to her suggestion and beamed as he spoke of his family and something to get for Phoebe. "That would be so cute! And I wonder if Drew might like something simple like a deck of cards? Do you think your mom might like something from the jazz museum?" Jade was stirring with the whisk, occasionally using it to break down any clumps of flour. She looked over to Jimmy and Bev and softly giggled when Jimmy smooched his wife's cheek. "Maybe that *will* be us in forty years." Her eyes were full of adoration as she looked up at Rodrigo, but her gaze soon returned to the roux.
The instructor projected some tips and next steps in the recipe for the group to follow. He walked around the room for a bit to look at everyone's progress up close and answer questions that arose for some. Jade was happy to be splitting the work between Rodrigo along the way. Even when the gumbo sat, seemingly finished and merely cooking away in the pot, they were able to move on to preparing the rice and the pralines together. Jade was smiling and laughing a little again at the stickiness of the pralines when it came time to preparing them to go on the parchment-covered cookie sheet to cool. "We have to be quick but careful," she said, reaching for the ice cream scoop. "Do you wanna scoop it or hold the pot near the cookie sheet?"
RODRIGO
Emma, for as long as Rodrigo has known her, has called him an old man and now that he was finding himself enjoying the conversation with Jimmy and Bev, he could see why.  Rodrigo cut up the last of his veggies but kept his focus on his wife and her preparation of the roux. He wanted to learn enough to be able to recreate it for them perhaps for an anniversary dish. Little details like that mattered a lot to him. "Oh! Drew would LOVE That. He's definitely a cards man. He's like a man's man, you know? So that's brilliant. Maybe a spirit or something. And Mom would love something from the museum. See? The brains of this relationship." He grinned at Jade, watching her at work. When Jade spoke of the older couple once more, he met her gaze and smiled right back at her. "I think you're right. We're going to be two lovebirds forever."
"Quick but careful, got it." Rodrigo's brows furrowed as he tried to work with the agonizing sensory issues he was experiencing with the praline's stickiness. "I once made pecan pie with my mom and I got brown sugar literally everywhere. You'd think I was like 7 or 8 or something. Nope. I was 23. Fletcher was laughing the entire time. There's video footage of my dilemma somewhere." He couldn't help but chuckle as he assisted his wife. Since she was the pro here, he was fine with being her second. "Okay, I can scoop it." he bared his teeth, making a face of being grossed out but over-exaggerating enough for his wife to know he was being dumb. "Even with gloves on, I felt that stickiness." He shook his head. "Again, this is why you're the pro." He smiled as the instructor approached them and looked pleased with their work. He silently gestured toward Jade with his head as if saying, *isn't she brilliant?*. This caused Bev to chuckle from their station. "Oh he's got it bad!, " She chuckled again and Rodrigo smiled at the older woman. "Darn straight, Bev."
JADE
"I know what you mean about him. I have no doubt we can find a nice deck for him. And your mom is likely to fuss at us for getting her something in the first place but I feel like we could find her something special to let her know that we were thinking of her." At the mention of them being lovebirds forever, Jade automatically glanced down at her wrist tattoo she and Rodrigo got on Valentine's Day and she smiled.
Jade listened to the story from around 7 years ago and looked up from the pot to Rodrigo, thinking for a moment before asking, "Are you sure you don't want me to scoop?" She wouldn't have minded and could see from the looks her husband was giving that it likely wasn't his desire. She picked up the potholders and started to place them over the handles but paused and held them out for Rodrigo. "Sweetie this is ridiculous, you don't need to scoop. Let me." She gently slapped the potholders to his chest and bumped his hip with hers before holding her hand out for the ice cream scooper. But she laughed a little at Bev and Rodrigo's exchange. "It's a two-way street, I promise you," she chimed in, looking from Bev to Rodrigo.
RODRIGO
"She will definitely fuss at us but now she has two kids to yell at." Rodrigo grinned, thinking about how easy it was for his mother to refer to Jade as her daughter. Rodrigo also looked down at his tattoo and smiled at his wife. "This was a great idea by the way. I'd be down to doing stuff like this back at home too by the way. I'm sure there are tons of events just like this. It'll help with improving my cooking skills but also, I get to do it with you which makes everything better."
"I got this!" He declared as confidently as possible but of course, Jade knew better and when she took over, he took the potholders she had given him and smiled sheepishly. "Thanks." He handed her the ice cream scooper and laughed. Jade knew him so well. "Yeah, she's crazy about me. It's my boyish charm for sure." He watched his wife and also the pot she had been handling, making sure he was some help at least. "What about you and Jimmy? How'd you two crazy kids fall in love? Wait, let me guess!" He bit his lip as he thought about the perfect trope for them. "Childhood best friends turned into lovers?"
JADE
Jade laughed a bit at Rodrigo's comment and then relished the warmth from being included as one of Emiliana's children. She knew her mother-in-law already felt that way but now that she and Rodrigo were married, she felt a little differently about it in a good way. "I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm actually okay with being fussed at if it's coming from your mom." She chuckled a bit and then said, "I love that idea. We could make it some of our dates if you'd like?"
While she appreciated Rodrigo's persistence, she was glad that he relented and let her handle the scooping. "Thank *you*," she said, glad that he wouldn't have to deal with the sticky texture beyond looking at it before it cooled. She took hold of the ice cream scooper and giggled some more from him referring to his own charm as 'boyish'. "Yes, that's it, among other things," she assured, grinning softly to herself as she scooped the first of the pralines onto the parchment paper lining the cookie sheet. She listened to Rodrigo, Jimmy and Bev while continuing to scoop the pralines in even portions to set and cool. Bev cut in before Jimmy could fully open his mouth, "Oh, we met in school alright, but it was in high school. He was sweet on some stuck-up little thing."
"It was only a little crush, Bev," Jimmy protested, busying himself by stirring their gumbo. He was sure to be blushing. But Bev went on to say, "I was jealous and kept tryin' to sabotage his advances on her. He was so mad at me! At first," she admitted with a laugh and a bit of a sheepish grin. Jade finished setting out the pralines and then asked, "So how did you two end up together?"
"Well, we had some mutual friends who got us to stop with the silly games and give each other an honest try. And we did, after a little bit of pigheadedness on his side."
"Hey!" Jimmy chided, to which Bev laughed. "That date was the beginning of it all for us. What about you two? What's your story?"
RODRIGO
Rodrigo was glad that his mother loved Jade as much as she did. More than that, he was happy and relieved that his wife would have a second chance at having a proper maternal figure in her life. There was no doubt in his mind that his mother would move mountains for Jade and she deserved that. "Good! Because she does it all with love." He chuckled. "And I do love that too." He knew that getting out and experiencing new things together was good for both of their mental health and seeing the perfect example in Bev and Jimmy, Rodrigo wanted to make sure he and Jade ended up just as happy years down the road.
Rodrigo smirked at Jade's response. "I can list all the reasons why I fell for her but we'd be here all day. Also, she made me WORK!" Rodrigo teased. "What can I do next?" Rodrigo whispered but listened intently to Bev as she readied herself to answer his question.  "Oh, let me find out, Jimmy!" Rodrigo chuckled and winked at the older man.  As he helped his wife, Rodrigo listened to the story, laughing at Jimmy's protest. "But your persistence paid off, Bev! That's great." He glanced over to Jade when she posed the next question and then shifted his gaze to Bev.
"Jimmy, my man you almost missed out!" He smiled at them both. At their question, Rodrigo nudged Jade with his elbow. "You want to take this one and tell them how you ran away from me?" Thinking back now, it was comical how he literally had to run after Jade in the parking lot of the school  and how he had promised himself he'd never smoke another cigarette again.
JADE
"I know. It's who *you* get it from," Jade noted. Rodrigo and his mother had their own personalities but they were both very loving and nurturing people in her experience. Even with Emiliana's very protective and intimidating brothers, she couldn't have asked to have married into a better family.
Jade blushed even harder listening to Rodrigo talk about her to the elderly couple. She smiled and then said, "I think all we have left to do is make the rice, which should be easy enough." They had one clean saucepan left and Jade was looking around for the uncooked rice, but the instructor seemed to pick up that everyone was about at the same place with the class and let them know that he had prepared a large pot of rice for the class to use. Jade relaxed from her search and, as everyone quickly dissolved back into varied conversations, she smiled, listening to Rodrigo easily interact with the couple. She admired him having such an effortlesslness at socializing with strangers as though they were longtime friends. And since they had nothing tondo but wait for the pralines to completely cool and for the instructor to let them all know when they could serve up their gumbo, Jade moved to stand beside her husband, slipping an a arm around his waist. "Sure, honey. Rodrigo's a teacher and was taking the lead on directing the students through the school msuical." She went on to explain about her younger siblings being students and her volunteering to help in lieu of their parents. "The time we were spending together led to feelings growing but I was afraid of my feelings and I mistook his ex for a current interest and literally ran from him, and my feelings." Jade was still a bit embarrassed but she looked up at him and said, "Thank goodness he caught me. And yes, I'm a runner. For exercise purposes," she added with a laugh.
RODRIGO
He couldn't believe how lucky he was finding someone who fit in with his family and who is adoring and just special all around. Jade was made for him. Rodrigo was convinced of this.
"Rice I'm great at. If you don't know how to make rice in a Latino household, they kick you out. True story." Rodrigo chuckled and then sighed when the instructor broke the surprise that he had prepared a large pot of rice. "Of course." He couldn't help but laugh again and turned his attention back to their new friends and his wife. He felt Jade's touch and leaned into her, leaving a soft kiss against her temple. He listened intently as she told their story and his smile wouldn't leave his face. It was nice to hear it and it was even nicer hearing Jade tell it. "As soon as I did catch up which left me out of breath and with spleen pain..." He chuckled. "I told her how I felt and one thing led to another and almost a year later, we're married. She's the love of my life."
JADE
Jade giggled from Rodrigo's comment over rice in Latino households, and then she gave him a consoling rub of his arm when the instructor let the class know that there'd be a communal pot of rice for the gumbo each of them prepared. She warmed all over again when he kissed her temple, always loving his kisses. While sliding an arm low around Rodrigo's back, she listened to him and grinned a bit as he finished off their story. Bev and Jimmy were also amused about the literal running the two of them had done. "And he's mine," Jade added without any doubt that Rodrigo was the love of her life.
The instructor soon encouraged everyone's help with cleaning up. He'd run a large sink of warm dish soap; beside the sink was a stainless steel counter. He let the class know that they could place all the utensils, measuring cups and measuring spoons directly in the soapy water and stack the sauce pans, frying pans and cookie sheets on the counter. "While you do that, I'll come around with paper plates for your pralines and bowls and disposable utensils for your gumbo. I'll include some to-go containers and bags as well," the instructor told them. Jade politely excused herself from the elderly couple while slipping her arm from around her husband to start gathering up the cooking and measuring utensils.
RODRIGO
He smirked when Jade giggled. Rodrigo loved to hear her laugh. Anytime he gave her a sliver of happiness, Rodrigo felt like he was on top of the world like he had achieved the greatest thing. In his mind, his wife deserved that. He also hadn't realized until then how much he enjoyed telling their story or hearing it from Jade as she told others. He knew that their relationship and the way they got together was special but hearing it made him feel warm all over again. Meeting Bev and Jimmy was no accident. Surely, this was a glimpse into their future together. He was certain of it. Rodrigo would strive to make Jade this happy for as long as they both lived and he hoped that was for a very long time.
When the instructor spoke and Jade followed his instruction, Rodrigo helped by also gathering up any utensils and measuring cups that Jade didn't. He also took the saucepan so that he could stack it with the others as instructed.  He offered to take Bev and Jimmy's things and then followed Jade to the sink. Once they returned, he was happy to see the paper plates and utensils so they could enjoy the meal they had created. Rodrigo rubbed his hands together with a giant grin, taking in the smells from around the room. "This is going to be amazing, I just know it. Are you having fun?" He glanced over to his wife with a smile.
JADE
Jade smiled yet again when Rodrigo came beside her and helped gather up the utensils and things for cleaning up. By the time they were done moving the used dishes, all that had been left at the table was the pot of gumbo, the parchment of pralines and the new disposable dining items dropped off at their table. Jade checked that the stove top was still on low for their gumbo and then she looked up to Rodrigo while pulling out two stools from under the table for them. "I am, yes! I'm really glad we decided to include this with our trip, and that we'll be able to take the extra gumbo with us back to our hotel room." As the class was finishing with clearing their cooking dishes and utensils to the sink, the instructor invited everyone enjoy their creations and help themselves to the large pot of rice. Jade picked up the two bowls and said, "I can get the rice for us, honey." She tilted her chin up in search for a kiss. After pecking his lips, she went to stand in the short line and then scooped a smaller portion of rice in one bowl for herself, and more in the other for Rodrigo. She carefully walked the two back to their table, the steam wafting up from each bowl. Picking up a ladle, she offered it to her husband, "Would you like to do the honors?"
RODRIGO
Rodrigo dried his hands and sat down beside Jade. He looked around at the other participants and smiled before reaching for his wife’s hand. So far, they had been enjoying their honeymoon and both of them were on cloud nine. “Yess having extras is a huge plus.” He chuckled. Whenever there’s food, Rodrigo would be there.
He kissed Jade when she got up to get the rice and watched her with a smile on his face. When she returned, he took the ladle and nodded. “I’d love to, Madame.” Rodrigo poured them a generous amount of the gumbo, the smell exciting him immediately. “Oh my God this smells like love. I can’t explain it.”
JADE
"It was certainly *made* with love," Jade replied, smiling as she took a seat and accepted her bowl from Rodrigo. "Bon appétit, mon amour," she replied in easy French, giving him a wink before dipping her spoon into the bowl. She mixed the rice a bit and then lifted some of the content to cool it off by blowing slowly before taking a bite. Jade shut her eyes and moaned, the flavors practically dancing in her mouth and down her throat. "This is amazing. I feel like being here has helped it taste that much more authentic. And I really loved getting to cook this with you." She enjoyed just a few more small bites before leaning into Rodrigo's side. "This might be my new favorite thing that we've done so far," she told him, a content smile on her lips. While she hadn't eaten much, eating more than two bites in front of so many others - especially people she didn't know - had been a big step for her. She'd relished every single bite and was looking forward to the leftovers later on with Rodrigo. Picking up one of the pralines, she broke the brittle-like dessert in half and bit into it. The sweetness hit her tongue right away and the crunchy texture with the pecans made her smile a bit again. "Pralines arent one of my favorite desserts but I've never really *made* them before today. This turned out really well." Setting the resr down, Jade ladled the rest of their gumbo into the container they were given. She secured its lid once the pot was empty and slid off her stool to add the pot, lid and ladle with the otherndirty dishes. She'd felt odd leaving so many dishes unwashed but the instructor had been clear. When she returned the table, Jade picked up her spoon to take one more bite for now but prior to eating it, asked Rodrigo, "Do you want to get some more rice to take with our leftovers? I'll bet there's still plenty of it left."
RODRIGO
Rodrigo clinked his bowl against Jade's with a smile. "Bon appetit, " He responded, mixing his ride in with the gumbo using his spoon. His excitement was evident on his face as he brought the spoon to his lips. Rodrigo blew on his food for a bit before taking his first taste and he shut his eyes as a smile formed against his lips. "Oh God...." He gathered more onto his spoon and had some more. "This is so good." He pointed to the gumbo with his spoon and nodded in response to Jade's observation. "I agree. I have never tasted gumbo like this and aw, babe..." He leaned into her side as well and smiled. "This has to be our official anniversary dish." He chuckled, making mental notes of all the things he wanted to do next year and the year after and every year after that for as long as they were alive and well. He was proud of Jade for eating the gumbo with the class there. It showed progress and he knew how hard that was for her. Without saying anything about it, he snaked his arm around her waist and kissed the top of her head before releasing her to continue eating. "I've never had pralines, I think. But I'll save that for when we get back to the hotel." He had a few more spoonfuls of his gumbo, eating all of it pretty quickly. Once finished, he walked over to the sink to drop off with the other dirty dishes. When Jade mentioned getting more rice, he reached for their disposable ware. "Good idea. You don't have to ask me twice." He grinned as he sped off to take some more rice for the hotel and came back, adjusting the lid. "Alright! Look at us! " He  glanced over to Jimmy and Bev. "How are you two doing over there?"
JADE
"An anniversary dish," Jade echoed thoughtfully and smiled at the idea. She loved the thought of her and Rodrigo revisiting this memory each year, be it at their home or elsewhere. After they finished clearing their station and putting their leftovers in containers, Jade perched herself on the stool for a bit, but looked over to their new acquaintances. At Rodrigo's addressing them, Jimmy said, "My woman put her foot in this gumbo, like she does with everything she makes!" And Bev chuckled, giving her husband a harmless swat, "We made this *together*, Jimmy."
The older man winked and leaned towards Rodrigo, "Yeah, meaning she did the important stuff and I got to taste it."
Jade laughed and Bev rolled her eyes. And when the instructor came around to offer plastic bags and thank everyone for participating, Jade accepted the offer for a bag and began placing all the leftovers inside. Bev and Jimmy really were a lot like them, just a different generation apart. Their likeness, coupled with cooking a meal with Rodrigo had her feeling like the day had been so full in the best possible way. She'd still been feeling much like she had been on the day they'd married--like Rodrigo planted the light of the sun in her heart himself. Every moment spent with him let her love for him stay strong, vibrant and beautiful.
With the class concluding, Jade reached to undo her apron and fold it to leave on the table.  She stepped close to Rodrigo and kept her voice intimately low for only him. "As much as I hope that I never forget today, I think I would like to head back to the hotel now. Maybe I could have you all to myself for the rest of the day?"
RODRIGO
"Well, we're in the same boat. I would have dominated the rice but noooo." Rodrigo chuckled at Jimmy's words and began wiping down the counter.
He grinned at both Bev and Jimmy, unable to stop smiling as he listened to them. They were so amazing and so much like him and Jade. He loved the glimpse into their future. He already knew that he and his wife would be forever but seeing it here really made him so giddy. Rodrigo moved to sit beside Jade, waiting for the class to wrap up. He considered asking the other couple if they'd want to meet for a drink while they were in New Orleans but he figured it was best to keep the memory this way.
Rodrigo helped Jade gather their food and watched her get everything together for them. He was the luckiest man in the world. He was so in love with his wife and was moved by the fact that she was experiencing so much happiness on their honeymoon. He wanted to bottle this feeling. Rodrigo's goal was to make sure Jade never felt the way she did while with her mother. He wanted her to have the best experiences, to feel like she can do anything and that she was capable of great things. He removed his apron and folded it as well, leaving it on top of Jade's. When she stepped closer, he placed his hands on her waist, leaning in slightly to hear what she had to say. He smirked, pressing a soft kiss against her cheek and moving a strand of hair behind her ear. "I think that's very doable..." He whispered, waving at their new friends who also seemed lost in one another. He took his wife's hand and they walked back to their card. Once they had arrived at the spot, Rodrigo took the plastic bag from her to leave it in the back seat and then walked back to open the door for her to let Jade in. Before she climbed in, he looked around and then gave her ass a tiny smack before squeezing it. "Come on, I'll give you a warmup before we get to the hotel." He eyed her outfit and grinned at the thought of getting her excited during their drive.
JADE
When the class concluded, Jade collected the bag of their leftovers and, on their way out, told Jimmy and Bev, "It was really nice to meet you both today." She shook their hands and walked out of the venue, feeling positively buoyant. And Rodrigo agreeing to them having alone time just added to it. As much as she was enjoying them seeing and experiencing New Orleans, she  equally loved intimate moments with her husband. She smiled gratefully to him when he took the bag from her, "Thank you, honey." And as she approached the passenger's door, she gasped and gave a little start when he smacked and squeezed her butt. A huge grin spread across her lips, "Well now I'm even more excited." She took her seat and buckled up, ready for the ride back to their hotel room.

G Gundam meta notes part... The last one! Episodes 45-49
"Rain's Crisis: Return Of The Devil Gundam"
-”these are the last tears we'll ever shed for Master Asia” are you sure about that, Domon?
-not to downplay your stakes, George, but you learned that you didn't have to hang everything on that sense of duty you fought for, so of course you're the most likely to feel fulfilled even though you lost
-I heard that passive-aggression, Argo
-Domon's plan was just to walk through the hospital halls shouting for Rain? Good job
-I mean, I guess I can see Rain's logic in that she'd worry Domon would resent her, but… that's his decision to make, y'know?
-the way Chibodee yelled for Domon sounded pretty anguished, even for being out of breath
-dammit I have to rip off my headphones every time Domon sobs
-interesting that Wong was doing research - or, wait. He doesn't seem like the type to do it himself. But how did he keep it quiet among whatever scientists he hired? And how quickly did they come up with this?
-why the hell would you tell Ulube you're giving him up?
-okay, what was that? Shuffle Alliance empathy? Did Domon accidentally spread the empathy powers to Rain?
-I still maintain that Chibodee's crack about "if you can't decide, then I'll get Rain and make her mine" was less an actual threat and more specifically to get under Domon's skin and get the guy to do something - I mean, am I the only one who hears the sheer level of "ughhhh you idiot" in his voice?
-Sai is so upset over this!! I would almost make a joke about his ship sinking, but for real, this seems to hit a nerve with him!
-is Domon actually able to commune with the spirits of the dead through his Shuffle powers?
"Devil Colony Activated: Attack Of The Shuffle Alliance"
-Domon's attack speeches are so common you don't really think about them after a while, but he's got quite a dramatic way with words
-how do they have news cameras in space? (And looking forward, are they filming the whole fight? Does the big confession go international?)
-I know that the dub is swear-free, but I really would've loved that "Jesus" in this voice
-the obligatory “Rain is in a vagina”
-I'm pretty sure I have that A/N scene memorized at this point, and I have meta about it already so I don't want to repeat myself
-interesting that Rain had to get naked for the DG but Kyoji didn't
-okay so under what circumstances do people get sentenced to stasis?
-"YOU FREAK
-”there won't be a real reason for us to be together anymore” is being friends not a reason? Who put that idea in your head?
-”you're helping me out?” Why wouldn't they?
-"RING THE BELL, DOMON KASSHU”
"Earth's S.O.S.: Rescue Gundam Federation”
-I think there's room to say something about the contrast of a destructive rivalry (Drs Kasshu vs Mikamura) to all the constructive ones we see
-Chibodee going Leeroy Jenkins once again - and bruh didn't you just say "don't be careless" a few minutes ago?
-”if anybody disagrees, come at me!” That's perfect for a reaction macro
-Carlos is okay!
-the World Gundam Federation, something to keep in mind for post-canon stuff
-OH GOOD, TIME TO SCREAM ABOUT THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
-I have at least half a feeling about, in a group setting, Chibodee being the one to pull out Domon's words in a tight spot, and most of it is in the delivery
-Dr Kasshu has purple eyes
-"I heard that Major Ulube was shredded, that Major Ulube had an eight-pack"
-Dr Kasshu’s voice is quite similar to Kyoji’s
-”this is my family's fault, let me go it alone” dammit Domon, that's what Rain did to get into this trouble
-awkwardly long laughter to fill in where nobody wants to say "we care about you, you idiot"
-LEEROY GODDAMN JENKINS CROCKETT
-Argo didn't even get to do anything
-Shirley looks like she's about to vomit at the sight of DG!Ulube
-Mrs Kasshu never speaks. I wonder if Domon doesn't remember her voice
-I am eating up these vocal performances!!
-TEAM ATTACK
-”did we win?” Bunny you're so fucking precious
"God Gundam's Great Triumph: A Hopeful Future; Ready, Go!”
-Domon has had so fucking much asked of him, of course he's gonna stick his neck out for what little he has left of his crumbling life
-I wonder how Dr Kasshu feels about what his creation has become
-”Zuisen Beam/Keiun Laser!” they just wanted to join in on the calling-your-attacks fun
-I'd like a freeze frame of the Mandala Circle with all the Gundams
-Hoy, Ming, why are you outside?
-you should learn never to say “we did it” because you're always premature
-”it's destroying itself” yeah that's some good symbolism there
-this is really the culmination of the ‘technology powered by emotions’ thread
-how is Allenby interfacing with Domon?
-again, Domon has a way with words! He may not think he's good at expressing himself that way, but damn, he's poetic
-”it's not that hard to do!” That sounds like some bullshit, I'm fucking aro and I know admitting your feelings can be hard. And if that was Chibodee as I suspect, that's double bullshit - you pretend you're an open book, but you resist being vulnerable. You can encourage Domon without straight up lying!
-okay, the silver and gold imagery is a decent way to go for opposites attract
-I do so love a good “I know you're in there” fight, and to combine that with a love confession should be catnip for me
-god fucking damnit I wish this ship had been built up… better? More evenly? Not been stomped on so hard by Domon's fuckery before coming back to it? (Because honestly I could almost buy it by the end of Guyana, and then…) Honest to God I want to like this more, and I like the potential that lives in the fucked-up circumstances that brought them together, but godfuckingdammit
-I find it amusing that, for Argo and Nastasha, even a cheek kiss is apparently too private to be shown onscreen

Build Up Episode 1: If You and Every Moment
Tumblr media
Welcome back to my project of recapping Build Up, the MNET show! In the previous one, we finished off the "voice check" mission, when the guys voted -- or didn't vote -- for each other. In this post, we'll tackle the judges panel as well as the first two performances: If You and Every Moment of You. Let's do this!
It's time for the performances already!
The judges are gathering. First in is Lee Seokhoon. You know, this guy.
Tumblr media
He was the vocal coach on, among other shows, PD101 and Boys Planet. I have tried and tried over the course of this recap to remember his name but I cannot, and my scrolling finger was getting tired, so I will be calling him That Guy or That Vocal Coach Guy or something throughout and you’re just going to have to make your peace with that.
Then Wendy from Red Velvet and Baekho arrive. I’ve never seen Wendy on a show like this before, which checks out, because she says it’s her first time. And OMG. Baehko? Main vocal of Nu’est? The guy I bring up randomly in recaps that have nothing whatsoever to do with him, on the slightest pretense? I genuinely didn’t know he’d be a judge on this, but it sure sweetens the pot. I hope we get to hear him singing!
Baekho jokes that he feels like he should be on stage performing, because That Guy is here. The joke is that Baekho was on PD101 Season 2, when That Guy was a judge/trainer. Baekho actually won PD101 Season 2 based on the real votes, and should have been in Wanna One, but MNET rigged it and gave his spot to someone else.
Tumblr media
I’m really surprised that Baekho would want to deal with MNET again after all that, but I guess this show has a different staff and showrunner.
Baekho and Wendy talk about how it’s their first time doing a show like this, and Wendy says she’s so nervous. She sounds really nervous. It’s one of the first times I’ve ever seen Wendy not smiling.
Eunkwang from BtoB arrives (if you don’t know BtoB, they’re with Cube and they’re known for their vocals), and Solar from Mamamoo. Finally, Jaehwan from Wanna One (he’s a soloist now) -- he’s the one who sang that part right before the chorus of Energetic, the part with the “no no no no!” His vocals are so gorgeous, my god. But also, I wonder if it’s weird for Jaehwan and Baekho to work together after being on PD101 together all those years ago…? Doesn’t seem to be -- they have a fun rapport.
Anyway, this judging panel is stacked.
Tumblr media
LTR: Baekho from Nu’est, Solar from Mamamoo, That Guy, Eunkwang from BtoB, Wendy from Red Velvet, and Jaehwan from Wanna One
Dahee appears and introduces herself as the MC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She looks really pretty. A long sleeved bedazzled denim tailored crop top paired with a matching denim mini skirt? I mean why not? Do your thing, Dahee. The judging panel applauds and shouts at her that she’s beautiful.
The camera reveals where the boys are sitting in a sort of green room area, and they are also shouting about Dahee. They’re now wearing the outfits they wore in their official photos. That will make it easier to recognize them from those photos, that’s for sure.
Tumblr media
And looking at this, I realize, this is supposed to look like the coliseum. You guys. That’s why one of the boys said that the set looks like the coliseum as they were coming in, before the studio lights came up. Someone must have told him to say it. This is supposed to look like an ancient Roman gladiator ring or something. I wish it didn’t look so shitty, though.
Dahee says that the participants will get to experience the feeling of being in a 4 member group today, and that they be evaluated for their performance.
Tumblr media
Wendy is super nervous. She might be even more nervous than the boys are. Come on, Wendy, my fellow North American. You got this! She’s wearing one of those three-quarter sleeve blazers. I feel like I should get one of those.
Dahee asks the judges what criteria they’ll be using. The judges reply with their criteria one by one, and the guys in the green room are seeing it on a closed circuit camera view and reacting to each judge. Apparently, this is the first time they are finding out even who the judges are, much less what the criteria is. Seems like maybe that info would have been helpful earlier, like maybe when the boys were rehearsing and planning….?
Tumblr media
LTR: Bitsaeon from M.O.N.T,  Ji Yeon Woo, Sunyoul from UP10TION, and Choi Su Hwan -- aka Team Decalcomanie.
The boys are excited to see the vocal coach guy, who they refer to as “that man with glasses.” I guess they also have trouble remembering his name. They’re also a bit intimidated by him -- he’s known for telling it like it is.
The guys are also especially delighted to see Eunkwang from BtoB.
Tumblr media
To be clear, they’re also pretty surprised and happy to see all the judges, but my sense is that for most of them, Eunkwang takes top spot. He is often cited as a role model for young male kpop vocalists, in much the way that young female kpop vocalists would cite Taeyeon from SNSD.
Sunyoul, in his sparkly black jacket, pulls out a little notebook and starts taking notes of the criteria! Is Sunyoul low key the Woongki of Build Up? I think he might be, friends. I’m here for it. Not that anyone can replace THE Woongki, but it’s nice to have someone around who reminds us of him. So what must Sunyoul be writing down? Here’s the criteria we get:
The Vocal Coach Guy says that he’s going to be looking for the delivery of the lyrics and for them to do their own interpretation of the songs.
Eunkwang encourages them to have good teamwork on stage and to show their best performance with the chance they have.
Solar from Mamamoo tells them that, as a member of a 4-person vocal group herself, she’s looking for synergy.
Baekho says he’s looking to see that they distributed the parts correctly so that each member can shine.
Wendy tells them she’s also looking for lyric delivery and emotional expression.
Jaehwan starts to say that the others already gave good advice, and Eunkwang playfully interrupts to tell him to not say more in that case. Jaehwan goes on, undaunted, and encourages them to not let their nervousness get the best of them. They need their breath to sing!
And right away, it’s time for the first team to perform!
If You (originally by Big Bang)
The first team is doing “If You” by Big Bang, from 2015. Eunkwang says the song is really hard, and That Guy agrees. Shipji ana! It’s not easy. This song is not just something you can sing with a “nice tone.”
Who is taking the stage?
Tumblr media
It’s Geonu from Just B, Jay, Kang Hayoon, and Hong Seongjun from BDC. They each introduce themselves.
Randomly, back in the green room, Seokhwa from WEi says he went to an academy with Geonu. See, all these guys travel in the same circles. One more reason it’s dumb to have fan wars -- you might be crapping on an idol who is best friends with your bias.
Hwanhee, watching from the green room, says he’s looking forward to Jay. And speaking of Boys Planet, That Vocal Coach Guy greets Jay, and they say “long time no see” kind of stuff. It’s interesting -- Jay’s Korean is obviously a lot stronger than it used to be, but he’s clearly still not fluent.
Vocal Coach Guy also knows Hong Seongjun from when Seongjun was on PD101, so the other judges tease him for knowing everyone -- is he like, the mayor of MNET? Vocal Coach Guy shakes off the teasing, but takes the time to praise Jay’s talent.
Solar and Wendy ask Hayoon why, if he’s ranked so high and can choose any song he wants, he chose this song. He says, in his very cute way of talking, that he thinks YG songs fit his voice, and we’re left to ponder how someone so cyoo can also be so YG we head into a flashback.
Let’s take a quick break and talk about the song itself. It was released in 2015 as a digital single only, with no video; an official for YG said that the song was too sad to make an MV for it! It was also unusual for a Big Bang song in that it featured only singing, not rapping. The lyrics describe a break up; the chorus goes, “If you, if you/ If it’s not too late / Can’t we get back together? / If you, if you/ If you’re struggling like I am / Can’t we make things a little easier?/ I should’ve treated you better when I had you.” The song did really well on the charts and got a lot of critical praise. For the record, I think it’s gorgeous, and I’m glad it’s going to get a cover done by a team of all main-vocalist. It has the feeling of a song written out of a real emotional place, and needs to be performed from that same emotional place if possible. Good things idols aren’t allowed to date, or they might actually experience some of these emotional situations! Sigh.
So, back to the flashback!
We learn that Hayoon chose If You immediately, because he thinks it suits him. Kang Hayoon kind of reminds me of that one episode of the Brak show where it turned out Zorak could sing in this really nice, clean voice --  but in reverse. Hayoon has this soft, sweet speaking voice and then he sings like an ageless wizard.
Anyway, based on my reconstruction of the team formation, six other contestants chose their songs next, and didn’t choose this one, but Jay made a bee-line for it. Jay explains that he chose If You at least in part because he wanted to work with Hayoon, which is kind of funny since earlier in the episode we learned that Hayoon was wary of working with Jay.
Hong Seongjun, looking on from down in the gladiator pit, says he doesn’t want to be in the same song as Hayoon and Jay, but after 17 more guys make their choice, he ends up choosing If You anyway. After all, he’s a great singer too, right? By the time Geonu chooses, all that is left besides If You is Decalcomanie, Don't Go, Breath, and of course Every Moment (more on that later), but he chooses If You.
Tumblr media
They sing a bit together to help decide how to divide up the parts. Honestly, I’m not sure that I’m as much of a superfan of Hayoon’s voice as everyone else seems to be. I get it that it’s unique, and I definitely like some unique voices, but Hayoon’s voice just isn’t the kind of voice I love-love-love. I like it, don't get me wrong, but it's not my favorite voice in the whole world. Jay says Hayoon’s voice is very similar to G-Dragon’s voice, and I guess it is, actually, that’s fair -- but GD isn’t exactly known as an excellent vocalist, is he? He’s more of a rapper, songwriter, allrounder, swag king. (G-Dragon is the leader of Big Bang, if you're not familiar.)
So, I watched this episode the first time while a bit stoned (it’s legal where I live, guys, and I’m over 21) and I wrote down: “Jay is singing too, and jesus god on a pony he sounds gorgeous. I’m so distracted by his pink lipstick but his voice? Amazing. He says that he really wants a main part, and I want him to have one.” So… yeah. That’s how I feel now, too. (Write stoned, but edit sober, is what I always say.)
And they begin….
Tumblr media
I know some of you may not have a decent link to the episode, so I’ll give the version with all the interruptions and reactions too, in case you want to watch it.
Here’s the version without all the reactions, if you want just the performance.
Here’s the version with all the reactions -- you can turn on the captions if you want.
My thoughts:
Tumblr media
Basically, Jay’s voice is so impossibly sweet that he makes everyone else sound almost bad. I know I said he needs to work on his pitch and nasality, but he didn’t seem to have any pitch issues with this song, not even minor ones, and he was a lot less nasal. When I watched the performance before I saw the episode, I thought maybe he’d worked through the song with a trainer or judge or something to do the job he did, and you know, maybe he did. Regardless of how he did it, he sounded fantastic.
If you were eating really high quality ice cream, would you want to have a handful of Doritos right in the middle? Even if you like Doritos? I guess maybe some people would, but it’s not really the experience I’d want, personally. Doritos in one bowl, Ben & Jerry’s in the other, you know?
What I’m saying is that Jay is the ice cream and Hayoon is the Doritos.
Tumblr media
Hayoon does have a GD-esque voice. It’s cool to listen to by itself, but next to Jay’s honey voice, it stands out kind of unpleasantly to me. It’s not a deal breaker or anything; it’s just that it wasn’t my favorite blend.
Tumblr media
If you listen to just Seongjun’s voice, it’s nice too, if sometimes fairly nasal. Next to Jay's, it pales a bit, but on its own, it's really nice. It’s got texture and warmth and emotion. But he loses control just that little bit in service of the emotion, and he has a habit of letting his voice kind of “slump” at the end of each line. (That’s my term for it -- I don’t know if there’s an official way to explain.)
Tumblr media
Judging by the criteria of, “who showed the most emotion,” it’s Geonu by a mile. But it was maybe a bit too much emotion…? He ended up going a bit pitchy and here and there -- he also loses control in service of the emotion. I could imagine a fan enjoying that, but I don’t think it’s what these judges want. That said, his vocal color is actually really very sweet and pleasant. I think he probably adds a lot to Just B songs.
The parts in harmony sounded pretty amazing. Everyone was in such control. Nice work, team!
Overall, this performance was really great. If this was a real vocal group, I’d like to listen to them. Hayoon’s instinct that his voice and Jay’s wouldn’t mix well was dead on, but I’d work around that to hear each of them individually. I also think that all three of the other voices blended well. It also doesn’t hurt that I love this song. I admit fully that it will be harder for me to evaluate some of the other songs.
MNET Edit:
It’s comparatively restrained for an MNET edit, with a lot of reactions but a minimum of instant replays from both the other guys and the judges.
The judges say:
The judges love Jay and Hayoon especially. It seems that only Geonu leaves all the judges stone faced. The boys backstage are impressed by especially by Jay especially, but seem to have kind words for all four.
Tumblr media
When the song is over, everyone applauds, and Dahee asks the judges what they thought.
That Vocal Coach Guy says that overall they were good. Jay was a good fit for the song, and he really enjoys Hayoon’s unique tones.
Baekho praises Seongjun as the one whose performance held the performance together. Aww, that’s nice he got a bit of love. He really did sound nice here, and displayed a bit of range compared to his teaser song performance.
Jaehwan says that Geonu’s gestures and expressions were too canned and pre-planned, and it made his performance feel lifeless. Kind of harsh, but fair, I think. It’s tough because in kpop idol music, they tend to plan everything, even minor things like when they’re going to pass their hand in front of their face. Coming here where they’re expected to basically freestyle sing may be a tough adjustment for them.
Hearing this tough critique upsets our sweet Sunyoul, who asks his teammate Ji Yeon Woo to feel how hard his heart is beating.
Tumblr media
With any luck, some girls will ship this and vote for him! Fighting, Yeonwoo! Fighting, Sunyoul!
Dahee asks the judges to select the top tier singer. It’s down to Jay versus Hayoon, and the judges spend time thinking, but it seems kind of obvious who it’s going to be Jay. The boys back stage think it will be Jay, too.
It turns out it’s unanimous --
Tumblr media
-- they all chose Jay.
The other guys congratulate him, but they’re obviously disappointed to not be picked themselves.
When Dahee asks Wendy about her reaction to Jay’s voice, she says it tickled her ears, and I know what she means.
Tumblr media
Jay kind of can’t believe he’s hearing such high praise from Wen-fucking-dy from Red-fucking-Velvet. I would die. I would die! I would evaporate into a wisp of carbon and oxygen if Wendy praised my singing voice!!
Dahee asks how it feels to win, and Jay tries to answer but first has to figure out what to call the judges. Eunkwang says he can call him hyung, which also blows Jay’s mind. Jay decides to stay formal, thanks them for the compliments, and promises to keep working hard.
Tumblr media
Again, I’m sure the other boys are disappointed, but I think they knew it was a long shot to win against Jay. They try to take it in stride because they mostly got good feedback.
The judges talk about how good Jay is until it’s time for the next performance.
Every Moment of You
When the next song pops up on screen, the whole judging panel is pretty shocked, because it is apparently a really difficult one to sing. It’s called “너의 모든 순간 (Every Moment of You)” and is originally by Sung Sikyung. It’s from a drama My Love From The Star which was a phenomenon at the time, to the point that the lipstick color the main actress wore ended up trending. I watched this drama and liked it (not loved it but liked it a lot), but I didn’t really recognize the song, which is telling. I do often get to like songs from dramas I watch because you hear them over and over, you know? I just find this song a bit cheesy, personally. If you like it, rock on -- a LOT of people like this song.
Some of the lyrics:
After a while, when I recognized you, Everything was clearly changing/ My world separates to before and after knowing you/ When you breathe, a warm wind blows/ When you smile, dazzling sunlight shines …. Because you stayed there, because it’s you / Because you sometimes quietly lean on my shoulder/ I’m really, completely happy / I follow you as time flows and stops.
Anyway! So, the guys come out and introduce themselves.
Tumblr media
Jang Intae says he’s hoping to establish himself as a good singer. Jang Intae was the one who came in last place in the voting. He performed a BtoB song as his teaser (V31) so it’s safe to guess he might be a fan of Eunkwang’s. Jaehwan gives Intae’s introduction a lot of approval, and we find out later that the two of them are friends.
Seunghun from CIX introduces himself and says “I sing deep emotions with a soft voice.”
Hong Sungwon says he’s a musical actor who will tap your eardrums sweetly. He’s in this fabulous ombre sweater with frayed hems and I want it. Sungwon is the one who sang Desperado as his teaser song, and I thought he did a great job.
Tumblr media
Finally, Bain says he’s going to cut your heartstrings which doesn’t sound great…? Maybe it sounds better in Korean.
We hop back in time to see some of their preparations. We find out that Sungwon the musical actor chose this song quite willingly, but he was 14th to pick, meaning that 13 guys chose a song before him and none of them chose this song. In fact, it was the song that stayed empty the longest. Then, when we got to the last four guys to choose -- Bain, Seunghun from CIX, Lim Junhyuk (former Day 6), and Jang Intae  -- there were three spaces still in Every Moment of You and one space in Breath. So there wasn’t really much in the way of choice for those last four guys, and three of them ended up here. What I’m saying is that most of the guys really didn’t want to sing this song, Sungwon aside.
When it came to their preparations, the main issue was, who gets to sing the intro? It’s kind of the “killing part” of the song, the part that everyone mimics when they talk about this song. At first, it looks like the team is going to have the musical actor Sungwon sing it, but then CIX’s Seunghun challenges him. Who won it? We have to watch the performance to find out.
Here’s the version without all the reactions, if you want just the performance.
Here’s the version with all the reactions -- you can turn on the captions if you want.
Tumblr media
My thoughts:
Enh, guys, I had a rough time with this one, but I admit the song is kind of growing on me, despite my best efforts to keep not liking it.
Overall, this wasn't bad, but I liked some of the performances more than others.
So the first time I listened, I just listened, not watching, so I wouldn’t know who was who. Then I watched it again to match up voice to singer. From my blind listening, I ranked them
Sungwon (the musical actor)
Bain (orange hair from Just B)
Seunghun (from CIX)
Intae
I just didn’t really like the way Intae sang this.
Tumblr media
It was so nasal, for starters. He has to switch awkwardly to falsetto sometimes and when he does it’s the wrong kind of breathy. He must be doing something wrong with his breathing because he also runs out of breath at the end of lines sometimes. He does have good pitch, and nice control over his vibrato. But overall this is just sort of not something I like to listen to. I feel bad because he came in last place in the voting and I don’t want to kick a guy when he’s down, but… yeah.
I also didn’t much like Seunghun’s performance. Again, I thought it was quite nasal, though not as nasal as Intae’s. He runs out of breath in the first bit, which may have been a stylistic choice but comes across to me as a mistake. His vocal color is certainly pretty on the lower notes when the nasality is less present, and boy, does the camera love his pretty face.
Eunkwang is edited to show disgust for Bain’s singing, which, you guys, ugh, omg, I can’t, I’m so mad. Bain did great. I’d admit it if he didn’t, but he did great. Fuck this show. I swear. His longer notes have resonance. He has barely any nasality. He has a tiny teeny too much vibrato for my taste here but I think it’s appropriate for the song. Pitch? Check. Emotion? Check. Breath support? Check. I don’t get the criticism.
Sungwon, to me, was the obvious MVP. His voice is so clear and lovely that it just goes down easy in your ear holes. He doesn’t have a hint of nasality and his control and pitch are both spot on. He vibrato is perfect, just perfect. Any more would be too much and less would be not enough. He also looks right at the camera and acts it perfectly. I also think the camera loves his pretty face, too, but you guys know that I don’t know who is or isn’t handsome in this world.
The MNET edit:
They of course play an instant replay of those important first few notes, and see everyone reacting to them. We get a lot of edited in reactions from the judges to let us know that apparently Bain is terrible, just the worst, get off the stage you loser. But other than that, the edit is relatively restrained for MNET. I guess they’re not going to be tap dancing on their edit keyboard as much for this show as they do for Boys Planet-esque shows.
The judges say:
All of the judges compliment Seunghun’s singing in the intro. Then Jaehwan compliments everything about him, including his height and looks. That’s… not the point, Jaehwan, but ok.
Wendy really liked musical actor Sungwon, and praises him a lot. Her praising him makes me feel smart. Yay! Wendy and I agree so all is right with the world.
Solar is glad that Intae smiled. I guess she has a point since the song is a love song, and watching most of them sing, you’d think that it was a sad song. I mean, here’s Bain singing with his eyes basically closed -- and he was like this for a WHILE.
Tumblr media
But I don’t think Intae's smiling overcomes the other more serious problems with his performance.
Eunkwang says, “Bain used a singing method that is far from this song.” I don’t know what that is even supposed to mean. But of course, we just see this one sentence from Eunkwang, and don’t hear what any of the other judges had to say about him. This is just the MNET editing, and MNET has decided to hate Bain. Well, I hate MNET, how about that? Also, Eunkwang, you’re low-key on my shit list. I didn’t get the best impression of you on Kingdom, TBH, so… yeah.
Tumblr media
Oh no, Bain is sad! Everyone listen to his cover of Seven by Jungkook to cheer him up.
The judging panel is over, and it’s time to choose top tier. The boys backstage think it’ll either be the musical actor Sungwon or CIX’s Seunghun. I’d give it to Sungwon, if it’s not obvious.
Tumblr media
Most of them vote for CIX’s Seunghun, but Solar votes for Intae. OMG, Solar. You can even see That Vocal Coach Guy looking at her as if to say WTF.
Naturally, Seunghun is really glad to be chosen top tier after what happened in the first vote. Even though I didn’t adore his performance here, he’s a sweet guy and I know he really wants to be recognized as a vocalist, not just a handsome face, so I’m happy for him. Also, he’s singing in the ballad style, which is what he was asked to do, so if it’s not to my taste, maybe that’s ok.
Ok, I think that’s good for now! I’ll see you in the next one, when we’ll pick up with Don’t Go.  Thanks as always for reading!

i was randomly thinking about the trailer (that i basically have memorized by heart by now) and i suddenly thought that i really want this scene right here:
Tumblr media
to happen before this scene right here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i mean in the trailer this is the exact order they come out so you would think it is the right order they’ll come out in the series but we know from the other episodes that the scenes from the trailer aren’t in chronological order and a trailer never shows scenes in chronological order anyway + you would say that they’re coming out like this because logically you would think that they’ll fight together but then something happens and they find themselves in a one against the other situation but i want to put it in another prospective because to think that they’re probably enemies or anyway against each other in this sequence but to also think that their first instinct is to fight side by side in that beautiful choreography even tho they're supposed to be against one another is just !!! ugh
porsche is on kinn's side and tries to protect him while kinn is against him but caring for porsche's safety became a default reaction for him so he responds to it and syncs with porsche in that fighting dance
porsche says the iconic 'i'm not on anyone's side. i'm on your side.' so we can guess that at this point maybe porsche isn’t working with the main family (considering how he’s dressed and the way his hair is up showing his forehead) and they were probably apart so it’s pretty much a given that something will happen in the last episodes between them that will make them fall apart but we're kind of sure that even tho they're pointing guns to each other porsche at least isn't trying to hurt him because why else would he say that then while kinn is looking at him with the same expression we have already seen him with in episode 7 before the sex happens an expression that screams i want to trust you but i still don’t know how to because i think you’ll betray me too one day (or even better something happened that made kinn think porsche really betrayed him)
and then i want this scene to follow:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don’t know maybe they’re being interrupted and porsche’s first instinct is to protect kinn of course and kinn responds to it with being touchy trying to feel porsche once again because they’ve been apart and he missed his smell and the way he feels to have him near him and he can’t keep his hands to himself
and the thing is we constantly see and hear porsche trying to reassure kinn that he can trust him he even vocalized his love for him twice already and the conversation they had at the end of episode 8 kind of put kinn in front of the fact that porsche is indeed different from what he has experienced before and the feelings they share are different stronger and i'm pretty sure we'll continue to hear this kind of reassurance from porsche so it makes you wonder to see them like that it makes you wonder about what it is yet to happen to make them being at that point in which episode we’ll get this infamous scene why we will see them against each other once again what will come before and after because the kinn that’s holding porsche at gunpoint most definitely isn’t the kinn that escaped the hospital and his treatment and pressed his forehead against porsche’s to kiss it while asking him to return to him safe and sound basically stripping naked before porsche in episode 7 that kinn isn't the kinn smiling so big at porsche throughout the entire episode 8 that kinn isn't the relaxed kinn we're seeing while he's with porsche the one who feels reassured to have him by his side the one who even wanted to make it official with porsche in front of everyone the very first moring after sleeping with porsche in his own bed for the first time
during these last few episodes we witnessed the romantic relationship between them unfold and grow they started with being strangers coming in contact with each other for the first time because of fate? and the kinn and porsche we have at the end of episode 8 despite everything that awaits them are two men involved with each other on a deeper and intimate level two men who love each other to the point they don’t even need to say it out loud because their actions show it and for the rest of the show we’ll move on from here and we’ll see the trust they’re building slowly grow and fall apart to grow stronger again to get to a point where they will be so strong together and so faithful about having the other beside them that the love they share will be their strongest weapon and i think that the presence of tawan between them is functional to make them understand how much they love each other and how much porsche actually trusts kinn with his life because they talked about tawan right away and porsche seemed confident and then again the tone he uses to say to kinn that he’s on his side only is firm and gentle and his eyes say it all
so what’s really altering the chemicals in my brain is thinking we’ve seen the kinn of episode 7 and 8 trying to give in and fully devote himself to porsche like he is and we’ve seen him struggle with what he wants to do versus what others expect of him and this basically divides him in half like his body is somewhere and his heart is somewhere else but we also see a kinn who’s moving for and because of porsche like he finally found a purpose in what he’s forced to do before porsche he was just the heir of a mafia empire having to deal with the family business while now he just wants to protect porsche and shield him from his world but at the same time he doesn’t want to let his father down hence his inner struggle and even tho he has trust issues as of episode 8 he seems like he has completely surrendered to porsche (i made a comparison between episode 4 kinn and episode 7 kinn while talking with his father in this post if anyone’s interested) so the kinn and porsche we will see from episode 9 moving forward will be them struggling with keeping their trust in each other and trying to make their love worth everything they will go through (so once again i’m pretty convinced the presence of tawan functions as a plot device not because he will try to break their bond but because he will make them realize how strong their bond really is)

The full report - Eren Yeager
The following report details all information on Eren Yeager. Contains NSFW content and reader must be over the age of 18 to view this document.
For your eyes only.
Tumblr media
Name: Eren Yeager
Birthplace: Shiganshina
Height: 180cm / 5ft 9"
Tumblr media
General
[ A1 ]
Appearance & Hygiene practices:
Eren's chestnut brown hair is always clean and fresh. Whenever he pays you a late night visit, he'll have most probably just gotten out of the shower. Coconut scented shampoo of sorts? Whatever it is, it smells so good.
Prefers showers over a bathe. He says it's to save time, but he spends a good 40 - 60 minutes in there, easily.
Once he's dry, likes to throw on jogger bottoms and a hoodie over his bare skin. His bare skin that is now so soft and scented as his favourite shower gel which is either tea-tree oil or Coconut.
If he wants to remain clean shaven, Eren must shave every 2-3 days. Sometimes he likes to grow it out but nothing ever past a long stubble.
Minimal body hair.
Trims the hairs on his pubic bone/lower stomach. Has pleasuring you in mind as he does so. Will take into consideration the friction against you.
Totally clean shaven testicles.
Eren's nails are short but that's because he bites them. [ see section A3 ]
Beautiful set of teeth. Brushes twice daily in a modern AU.
Eren adores it when you brush his hair for him. He finds it extremely relaxing as you massage his scalp. His eyes will close and a small, barely audible hum will emit from time to time.
Eren's skin care routine is pretty basic. All of the steam from sitting in his hot, frequent showers for so long seems to do him wonders - his skin is flawless and worthy of envy.
Due to the healing power of being a Titan shifter, Eren has no scars.
Eren has quite large hands with long fingers. He doesn't wear rings or jewellery as it reminds him of the burden of when he had to keep that damn key on him at all times. Will however, put up with a wedding ring.
[A2]
Body & Love language:
Eren is a pretty introverted person. His hands are usually tucked away inside of his pockets - be it either trousers or hoody/jacket.
He hunches a little too. Likes to feel hidden. He's had enough attention over the years and wants nothing more than to just shrink away in a crowded room. Or maybe, it's the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Brooding, moody exterior. Extreme "resting bitch face"
Shrugs a lot. At first glance, you'd think he was a moody teenager trapped in a grown man's body.
Likes to sit with his feet flat up on the chair with his knees splayed - you'll usually find him like this with an arm resting over a knee while the other is at a 90 degree angle pointing away from his hip.
Fumbles his hands together in formal occasions when he can't sit so casually or tuck them away.
Likes to drape his arm over you without touching you. His arm will rest above you on the top of the chair. A clear indication of "They're mine" and "I will keep you safe"
His hips will usually be swivelled in your direction, regardless of where you are in the room. A subconscious body language of sexual yearning.
Eren likes to hold hands with you when you're walking. He's not huge on PDA but likes the strong yet subtle showings that you're together.
Tends to rub his thumb over the back of your hand absent-mindedly when you do so.
His love languages include physical touch. Can get very needy and touch starved pretty easily. Not in a overbearing way, but even just a run of his slender fingers through your hair is enough to keep him going until the two of you are in a more private setting.
[A3]
Bad Habits & Tendencies:
As mentioned above, Eren bites his finger nails. His toe nails too. It's pretty gross to be honest.
He never does it in public, but he has been known to do it in front of you when he feels comfortable enough to do so.
Get's very fidgety when irritated or annoyed, which is pretty often. Especially if Jean is around.
Short temper. He's learned to tame it more over the years where he doesn't show it so easily. But everyone has their limit and when his is reached, his yell is booming and pretty intimidating.
During an argument with you he has been known to raise his voice, but it's not the frightening roar you've heard him unleash on others before.
Always apologises to you after he's calmed down. Even though it wasn't that bad.
If you two ever have a bad falling out, will lock himself away for days. He'll be pissed at himself for letting it get so bad and depressed that you two are having such problems. But he'll do anything he can to fix it.
[ A4 ]
Common misconceptions:
Obviously everyone has their own cannons and opinions. But I don't personally see Eren as being an abusive partner. Yeah, he has his problems and treats his friends like shit but there's a reason for that we'll probably see in the last chapter. If you're worthy enough to pierce that cold and distant shell, you're a very special person and he'll treat you as such.
Eren actually has a large heart hidden under that huge chip on his shoulder. He cares and loves the people around him unconditionally. Even to the point of carrying out mass genocide to protect them.
Still... He does have a dark side to be weary of at times.
Even though he's gross while in Liberio, usually Eren is actually pretty clean.
[ A5 ]
Food & Drink:
In a Modern AU Eren loves fancy coffees with the weird names. The longer to pronounce, the better. He just likes the fact they give him energy and the fancier ones taste good.
Due to not having meat for so long, a good ol' fashioned beef/lamb stew is his favourite.
Doesn't drink in canon.
Modern AU, his alcoholic beverage of choice is bottles of beer and craft ales. Sometimes is a sucker for red wine.
[ A6 ]
Modern Au:
Eren wears loose clothing. Hoodies, loose jeans, those baggy cardigans too.
His texting style is spam over one long message. Especially if he's pissed off. He's too impatient to sit and type in paragraphs.
Drives a black car. Don't ask me what type, I don't know cars. But it's black, 'kay?
It also has "black ice" air freshener inside.
Likes to ride quads and mopeds along fields. He's a thrill seeker. Rollercoasters, bungee jumping... you name it he's game.
Eren plays the guitar. He took lessons for it but after about a year he just went his own way and self-taught.
If he sees a guitar at a party, he will pick it up and play it. He won't sing though.
He actually hates singing. He finds it embarrassing.
Always has in his air pods/earphones.
Likes any sort of music that is catchy.
Probably streams on Twitch. He won't talk much though.
Could have a wide range of jobs. Coffee shop, could be in college, might be a ride attendant... who knows? It's anyone's guess what Eren is doing. He doesn't talk about himself that much.
Romance & NSFW
[ B1 ]
Crush:
Eren would definitely be in denial he has a crush on you at first.
• “Does y/n seem different to you?”
Armin; “No…? In what way?”
“I dunno… Just, different.”
• His poor stubborn brain would be ticking for weeks as to why he suddenly wants to be near you a lot more often and has urges to touch you, even if it’s just a slight brush against your arm.
• Will find any excuse to do extra training with you
• Once he FINALLY clicks on as to why he’s had these feelings, he’ll be pretty knocked off his feet and a little annoyed at himself.
I’m here to kill the enemy...
• Still though… Can’t seem to keep himself away.
[ B2 ]
First kiss & general kisses:
After the initial denial and keeping himself away, he'll just decide one day he's had enough of feeling this way and decides to to something about it.
He won't shove himself onto you. He'll do some sly probing to see if there is any indication of reciprocation.
Knowing Eren, he'll indirectly piss you off or insult you. He didn't mean to. He's just lacking social skills. Man aint smooth.
You'll slap him, probably, where he'll keep his head away from you for a few seconds, realising he's pushed you too far. Whichever side you palmed him away, he'll stay.
He'll slowly return his gaze to yours before gently holding your arms, apologising and planting his lips onto yours.
His general kisses are quite firm and forceful. Not in an aggressive way, but a "god I want you so bad" way.
Always either slides his arms around your waist or cups your face/head.
He tastes like sweetened tea <3 / Coffee in a Modern AU
Loves coming from behind and snaking his arms around you, nuzzling into your neck when you're doing something. Doesn't like it when your attention is away from him for too long.
When he's feeling soft and tender, will dance his nose with yours and catching your mouth in a caress.
When he's super turned on, he'll suck your tongue, bite your bottom lip and kiss anywhere he can.
[ B3 ]
Sex:
Ha ~~!
Eren is up there with the best when it comes to sex. He knows what he's doing and he does it well.
Extremely skilled with his fingers and tongue. He'll have you crawling the walls with hysteria as he likes to tease you throughout the day. He more than makes up for it, though.
Gropes, nips, kisses, licks, bites, flicks... anywhere and everywhere he can.
Is the most vocal when you perform oral sex on him. Will groan so deeply, his entire body will vibrate.
Dirty talk is this man's second language.
"Look how desperate you are for me." / "Look how desperate for you you've gotten me..."
"Do I feel good like this?"
"Am I making you feel good baby?"
"You're so good at that. Fuck, such a good girl/boy"
"S'so fuckin' tight."
"You're my little fuck thing, aren't you?"
"You're perfect."
"I love you..."
Are some of the many things you'll hear while he's fucking you.
He doesn't really have a favourite position. He'll gladly take you anyway he can. If he's in a rough mood, he'll bend you over the sofa, take you up against the wall... But if he's feeling more soft he'll make slow, passionate love to you for hours.
He does have a strong soft side at times.
Dominic Dominant. He loves seeing you totally at his mercy, the power over you the most arousing thing in the world to him.
Big daddy dilf vibes. He knows what he’s doing and he’s fucking good at it too.
The only time he’ll sub is if he wants to be lazy - letting you ride him and use him to your heart’s content.
Dirty talk. It can get pretty degrading at times. If you’re not into that, he respects that boundary.
Will absolutely ruin you.
Low-key loves it when you claw his back in hysteria. He thrives knowing he can send you absolutely insane, and he can just heal the claw marks in a matter of seconds. Sometimes even during sex (which is the hottest thing ever)
In an AU modern, he would love to fuck you near a large mirror or record you both getting at it to watch at a later date.
A lot of hissing, humming and low groaning, especially when he’s close to unloading.
Likes to watch you masturbate, putting his head close and observing intently. Loses his shit if you moan his name while doing so.
Hair pulling is his overload language. Will tug fistfuls when he gets too turned on.
[ B4 ]
Kinks:
The risk of getting caught. He likes having risky sex in semi public locations. Makes a game of how loud he can get you to moan, knowing someone would probably hear you.
Light Degradation. When he’s in a rough mood, he doesn’t mind calling you a few names. Nothing too extreme. And if it’s not your thing, he’ll respect that boundary.
Loves a good ol’ 69. Having you on his face with your ass in view is just… *Chef’s kiss*
Speaking of ass, he loves to bend you over too, allowing himself in nice and deep with a great view and something Juicy to grab.
[ B5 ]
Aftercare:
Aftercare with Eren isn’t anything special unfortunately. He’s another who gets sleepy after sex.
Won’t ignore you though. Often lazy pillow talk is on the cards and telling you how much you mean to him and how beautiful you are.
Will run his fingers across your scalp to soothe you.
Also will kiss any bite marks or finger bruises he’s left behind and ask if you’re okay.
Relationship with loved ones & becoming serious
[ C1 ]
Friends & Family:
When Eren meet's your friends family he will be polite yet quiet. He wants them to like him but he won't pine for their approval. If they like him, awesome. If they don't...? No big deal.
Same goes with your friends. He'll stay quiet until spoken to at first, but once he's been eased into conversation, he'll flow with it a lot easier.
Again, he'll be polite but don't expect him to kiss ass, because he certainly wont.
[ C2 ]
Marriage:
You couldn’t actually believe Eren had proposed. Although he was down on one knee in front of your very eyes, your mind just wasn’t accepting it. Folks and onlookers watched with bated breath, awaiting your answer. He sure kept this surprise hidden well…
Of course, you said yes and he picked you up by your waist in a spin, colliding his lips to yours.
And now here he was, watching you walk down the aisle, a lump in his throat and his heart racing.
You looked gorgeous, like something from a fairy tale.
And of course, he looked as handsome as ever. His suit was smart and his hair was up in its usual bun.
Armin is his best man, of course; who is standing and beaming with pride.
Eren holds back his chokes and tears as he reads his vows;
“Y/N… From the first time I ever laid eyes on you, all those years ago, I knew you would be in my life forever. Back then, I didn’t think it would be as my wife, but God I am so glad it is. I’m sorry for my stubbornness and irrational behaviour when we were young. But despite that you still loved, and stood by me and for that I’ll be eternally grateful. I vow to always stand beside you, whatever the world throws at us. I vow to hold you when you need support. I vow to remember how you always had my back no matter what. And I vow to always love you, with my heart and soul, until the day I die and after.”
The room erupts in cheers and tears when you seal your kiss.
The reception is wild.
Everyone is drunk (except Levi) and dancing. Reiner and Connie are dancing like weirdos, Reiner's blazer removed and at one point Connie is on his shoulders.
Sasha has too much to drink and is spewing in the bathroom.
Mikasa can’t stop crying with happiness and pride.
He carries you to your room afterwards where you spend all night sealing a special bond that will never be broken.
[ C3 ]
Children:
Eren has a soft spot for children, believe it or not. As seen before the expedition to the forest of giant trees. He sees his old self behind the innocent glint of unaltered admiration within a child's eyes.
He's not super into child play though. He wont pull weird voices or funny faces. He'll sit at their level and speak to them like they were anyone else. Obviously, watching what he says around them.
If they're unchecked and acting themselves, he'll become quickly annoyed as they wreck havoc around him and will have to leave the room or he'll get too agitated.
If his s/o discovers they're pregnant he'll seem to take it well. But inside he's falling apart and freaking out. He won't ever show it to them, but he doesn't know how he could be a father. Would he be like his own? Would he be able to be a good figure to look up to? What if he fails? Is it selfish to bring a child into this cruel world?
He'll be shocked but understandably so. After after a couple of weeks of self-reflection and brooding, he'll start to feel better about the whole thing.
More protective over his s/o than usual. Will make sure they're eating, drinking, resting and god help you if he finds you doing something you shouldn't such as trying to lift something heavy.
Will hold your hair and rub you back, as well as bring you water while you're having your morning sickness.
"Babe? It's four in the afternoon. How come you're still sick?"
"Eren, it's called morning sickness but it can happen any time."
He'll click his tongue. "....That's a dumb name, then."
The first time he feels the baby kick within you, his heart absolutely melts. His eyes enlarge and you could swear you saw them soften with that spark behind his emerald greens he had when you were younger.
His large palm is warm against your stomach as he feels around, the little flutter of your child hitting against his skin making him flinch in surprise at first.
"Woah..." He'll gasp in amazement. "They're already so strong. Hey, y/n? Doesn't that hurt?"
"Sometimes." You'll laugh softly.
He'll gingerly place his face to your skin, a little embarrassed he's doing this; but he feels the need. "...Don't hurt your mom, okay?"
As your pregnancy progresses and you get larger, he will not leave your side. If he has to, he'll be worrying and you'll be occupying his mind. In a modern au, he'll constantly call and text and will get Mikasa or Armin to check in on you often.
Will be so gentle during love making. He's terrified he'll hurt the baby.
One of the only times you've seen Eren panic in his adult life is when your waters break.
You'd gotten up in the middle of the night to pee. Climbed back into bed and felt a strange pressure, followed by a pop. Then a warm gushing sensation. You wait a few seconds to settle your own panic before you nudge Eren awake.
"Eren..."
He'll bolt up, confused. "What? Are you okay? Is the baby okay?"
"Eren, my waters have broken."
"Shit. Okay. Shit. What do we do? Shit." He'll leap out of bed and throw the lights on. You get to your feet where more water will start to drop onto the floor. "Shit, shit. I'll get the bag. Do you need help getting dressed? Okay, where's my jacket? WHERE'S MY JACKET?!"
"Eren, honey I need to you calm down."
"Okay, sorry. I'm calm. Shit. Shit..."
Will hold your hand with a worried look the entire time you're in labour. Has water and snacks on hand.
Will watch in amazement as your child is pushed into the world. This magical moment changes something in him, but right now he's not sure what that is.
They will bond immediately. As soon as he holds your son/daughter he can't take his wide gaze off them.
They're inseparable.
Any doubts of being a bad father is washed away as he takes them under his wing and teaches them about the world.

Scarlet Fever Ch.15 Emily Agreste (Part 1)
Summary: Endings and Beginnings.
Notes: Boy those were a lot of loose ends to tie up.
Ah, Emilie does Not make an appearance. It's more because she represents family.
------------------------
"I didn't realize you felt so overwhelmed until Princess Justice pointed it out."
"Yeah, but I didn't realize how much you were struggling until I found out who you were."
"It's not like I would have let you in even if you asked."
"I'm sorry I didn't ask."
"You were just following the rules."
"Lot of good that did, huh?"
"... I hate how much I failed you with the Snake."
"I'm sorry I put you in that position."
"I didn't say no."
"Adrien, if you showed up and said you trusted me with a Miraculous I would've jumped for joy!"
"Believe me. I was tempted."
"I never should've let you sacrifice yourself for me."
"From what I remember you usually didn't have much say."
"Exactly! You got hit because I couldn't get out of the way in time!"
"That's not how I see it."
"You getting hit was never okay."
"Better than the alternative."
"Not to me."
Adrien stared at the ceiling that still felt too close as the dream, or memories rather, faded. As tempting as it was to stay in bed and go back to sleep the blinds were pulled and sunlight was streaming in. And he was cursed, as his friends put it, with being a morning person.
Making his way to the restroom Adrien splashed water on his face and ran his wet hands through his hair to fix his bedhead. Combing it into his usual style. He paused, staring at his reflection in the mirror... At the model perfect look Gabriel had insisted on for years... Adrien ran his fingers through it, ruining it. Letting his locks fall in a decidedly Chat Noir-ish manner.
A knock on the bathroom door pulled Adrien out of his thoughts. "Bro, breakfast!" Nino called.
"Be right out!" Adrien hurried through the rest of his routine. His hair the only significant difference.
Plagg phased through the wall. "I dunno, Adrien," he started without preamble. "Turtle boy's kid brother is quite a handful."
Adrien smiled, scratching at the kwami's chin. "You're a handful too, Plagg."
"Yeah, but it's different when I do it!"
Chuckling, Adrien offered his pocket and Plagg flew in. Grumbling about tiny humans.
"Sleeping Beauty!" Nino exclaimed as Adrien sat next to him.
Pressing his lips together Adrien gave his best friend a mock glare. "That is not catching on."
"Oh, yes it is dude!" Nino stuffed his grinning mouth with baghrir. Butter and syrup almost dripping onto him.
Lips twitching into a smile despite himself Adrien reached for his own. "Where's Noël?"
"Folks took him to school," Nino replied around a mouthful.
"Yes!" Plagg flew out of Adrien's pocket and made a beeline for the fridge. "Camembert here I come!"
Shaking his head in fond exasperation Adrien ran a finger absentmindedly along the rim of his plate. M. and Mme. Lahiffe were kind enough to offer their home and let Nino take a few days off school. Nino insisted he think of it as an extended sleepover but... "I wanted to thank them for-"
Suddenly, Nino was leaning against him and wrapping an arm around Adrien's neck, pulling him close. "Dude, that's the fifth time you've said that."
"I'm just really grateful!" Adrien insisted, pushing him off.
"Believe me. They know."
Adrien swallowed the lump in his throat. The Lahiffe household was more than he could've hoped for. Especially with everything on the news. Gazing at Nino, the memory of a glowing purple butterfly came to the forefront. "To you too. For what you did."
Eyes widening for a moment Nino adjusted his cap, cheeks darkening. "What're best friends for?"
Adrien smiled softly. Tears prickling at the corners of his eyes. "You are the best. Y'know that, right?"
Nino wrapped his arms around Adrien in a  proper hug. "Back atcha, bro."
Returning the gesture, Adrien held him tight as his heartbeat spiked. "Couldn't have done it without you."
"Flatterer," Nino scoffed.
"Always."
Clearing his throat, Nino removed his glasses to rub at his eyes. "Eat up, dude! Don't want to keep the Gorilla waiting. We got a big day ahead."
"...Yeah," Adrien agreed. "We do."
 ----------
"Don't be bemused! It's just the news! The trial of the century is coming to a close. Disgraced fashion mogul Gabriel Agreste, who's terrorized Paris as the supervillain Papillon for the past two years, will finally face justice. The crown court is expected to reach their verdict later today. His son, fifteen year old Adrien Agreste, could not be reached for comment-"
Marinette pressed mute and turned away from the living room television. She hated that they had to mention Adrien like that. Like being Gabriel's son was the only description that mattered. Still, maybe she should bake Nadja some pastries as a thank you for pushing back against the idiots who wanted to lump Adrien in with Gabriel.
As a parent, as a reporter, Nadja had torn into anyone that even suggested Adrien was anything except a victim of his own father. On live television no less!
Just the memory of the press conference Ladybug called for the specific purpose of vouching for Adrien made her blood boil. If only they knew. Ungrateful jerks.
Tikki looked up from her place on the table, brow furrowing at her holder's tension. "Are you alright, Marinette?"
Sighing, Marinette glanced back at the screen. Slowly unclenching her fists. They were showing footage of his testimony again. "I'm worried about Adrien."
"Of course you are." Sabine set a plate of macarons next to Tikki. Who took the liberty of grabbing one. "That young man is going through something terrible very publicly. No wonder you're worried about him."
"Maman!" Marinette covered her face with her hands. "Saying it out loud doesn't make it better!"
Sabine gave her daughter a bittersweet smile. "Beating around the bush won't help."
Marinette groaned into her palms.
"But," Sabine continued, placing her hands on Marinette's, "you and all his other friends are making sure Adrien doesn't go through it alone."
Lowering her arms, Marinette looked down. "I... haven't been doing much, really."
"Marinette!" Tikki scolded. "What you've done for Adrien isn't nothing! You've talked to him, listened to him, been there for him. You're doing everything you can, Marinette!"
Sabine nodded, taking a seat next to her daughter. Holding their hands in her lap. "Even Ladybug has limits."
Marinette's mouth twisted ruefully. "I know."
"You know it here." Sabine tapped Marinette's forehead. "But here," Sabine pointed at Marinette's heart, "still has to catch up."
Her eyes stung as Marinette let herself fall into her maman's embrace. "I wish I could do more."
"Oh, honey." Sabine kissed her forehead. "I am so proud of the compassionate young woman you are. But you can't fix everything. More importantly it isn't your responsibility to fix everything."
Marinette opened her mouth to protest but Sabine laid a finger on her lips.
"She's right, Marinette." Tikki floated up to nuzzle against her holder's cheek. "What you're doing is already enough. More than enough. You're so kind to everyone else. Be kind to yourself."
Marinette didn't know when her tears fell but it didn't matter. For the first time since she donned the mantle of Ladybug, Marinette let herself be a girl crying into her mother's arms.
 ----------
"Marinette!" Alya almost knocked them both over as she squeezed a little too tightly. "It's been forever, girl!" Noticing the red in Marinette's eyes she frowned. "You okay?"
Marinette nodded. "I'm fine," And it didn't feel like a lie. She smiled at Alya's familiar worry. "It's only been a day."
"Like I said, forever."
Tikki poked her head out of Marinette's purse. "Good morning, Alya."
Eyes sparkling, Alya restrained herself from gushing. "Tikki!" she whisper-shouted. Mostly. "Good to see you. Any chance we'll be meeting your friends again?"
All things considered Alya had taken Marinette being Ladybug rather well. She had been more concerned with why Marinette was akumatized and how she could help. It was a relief, really. That Marinette didn't need to lie to her best friend anymore.
"I'm sure Trixx would be happy to." Tikki smiled at Alya's enthusiasm.
"If Fu ever lets go of that box again," Sabine muttered. She waved goodbye to Tom who was left in charge of the bakery.
"Maman!" Despite weeks of her mother being very vocal about Master Fu's flaws Marinette was still scandalized by her critique of the Guardian.
"Don't 'maman' me. You know it's true. The only reason he didn't take back all of his fancy jewelry is because Oblivio helped us out." Sabine smiled at Alya.
Cheeks darkening, Alya smiled back. It felt odd to be praised for something she used to be ashamed of.
Marinette gently squeezed her arm. "Thanks for that."
"Hey, you used the Butterfly. Me and Nino just aimed." Alya wasn't sure how hard it was to tweak Oblivio's power so they could target specific memories instead of erasing everything at once. But she wouldn't have wanted anyone besides Marinette on the other side of the telepathic link.
There were a lot more people that needed their memories adjusted than Alya thought. Sure, Gabriel and Nathalie needed to forget who Ladybug and Chat Noir were. But there was also everyone in the locker room when the akuma swarm came.
Marinette bumped playfully into Alya, lips twitching into a smile. "Never thought I'd be glad to see Oblivio again."
Alya wrinkled her nose. "That makes three of us." Looking from right to left to make sure no one was in hearing range Alya leaned in close. "I can't believe you have a superhero therapist!"
"Eh, not the weirdest thing to happen this month." Marinette was just glad she didn't need to keep Ladybug a secret from someone else.
"Did you, y'know, use Ladybug for that?"
"Actually, it was Adrien that got us an interview with her in the first place."
Before Alya could respond Kagami's car turned the corner. The door opening for them as the driverless vehicle pulled up to the curb.
"Marinette, Alya, Sabine," Kagami greeted as they all piled in. "And Tikki," she added as the kwami floated out of Marinette's purse. "...Where is Anansi?"
"Kicking butt. She's a kickboxer," Alya elaborated at Kagami's confused look. "Can't reschedule this time. Has to fight or she forfeits."
Kagami nodded in understanding. "Your sister is smart enough to know that one does not back down without giving it your all."
Marinette straightened as Kagami's eyes landed on her. She thought that might be referring to something besides fighting but it was hard to tell. Reading Kagami was always difficult.
"I can't believe I'm finally going to meet the Guardian!" Alya exclaimed. Sabine's sentiments barely putting a dent in her enthusiasm. "You think he's up for answering a few thousand questions?"
Kagami smiled despite herself. Her phone chimed and she frowned at the text. "We have to make a stop first."
 ----------
Nino hugged Alya and fist bumped Kagami. His eyes were tense despite the smile he gave them. "Hey, Mari."
Marinette's brow furrowed. "Nino." She placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Is he...?"
Nino nodded, pointing his thumb behind his back. "Up ahead."
Taking a deep breath Marinette stepped into the cemetery proper.
The Gorilla was standing guard as usual. Spotting her, he gave Marinette a nod and let her pass. Walking further away to give them some privacy.
Adrien was standing rigidly in front of Emilie's grave.
What should she say? What could she say? Marinette cleared her throat. "Nino says you didn't want to have a funeral?"
Adrien shook his head, the first sign that he noticed her presence. "We- I already buried her once. Mourned her once. It's... not exactly easy the second time but..." He took a breath. It was shaky. "Um, the lawyer read me her will." His voice shook too. "M-maman didn't want- Sh-she didn't want..." Tears built up in his eyes. "What Gabriel did to her!" They flowed freely down his face. "Maman wanted to rest."
Marinette rushed forward and pulled Adrien close, letting him bury his face in her shoulder.
"Sh-she wanted to rest!" His voice broke as he breathed out the words.
Pushing down the disgust she felt towards Gabriel, Marinette focused on the boy in her arms. Rubbing circles into his shaking back. Soothing him, being there for him. Letting him spill his tears without comment. His breathing slowly evening out.
Sooner than she expected Adrien straightened, wiping at his eyes. "Thanks, I... I needed that."
Marinette swallowed. "A-anytime."
Adrien had cried more in the past few weeks than he had in the past year... That probably wasn't healthy. Something else to tell his therapist. "God. One of these days I'm going to stop crying on you!"
"I hope not," Marinette's mouth said before her brain could overanalyze it. Her eyes widened. "I mean- I don't want you to keep crying! That is- You can cry however much you want! Wait, no, I mean-"
Adrien smiled fondly at the familiar sound. The vise in his chest loosening its hold.
"Don't laugh at me!" Marinette pouted.
That only made his gaze soften further. "I missed you."
Pink dusting her cheeks, Marinette turned to avoid looking at him directly. "I missed you, too."
"I've just been so busy," he began.
"With the trial," she nodded.
"And therapy."
"And figuring out the next step with Master Fu."
"And it felt awkward, y'know?" Adrien gestured vaguely.
"To text or something," Marinette agreed.
Adrien blinked as he realized something. "Has it really been a week since we saw each other?"
"Eleven days," Marinette responded immediately. "But! Uh, who's counting?"
"It's odd not fighting akuma with you." Adrien fiddled with his ring.
Marinette's hand instinctively went to one of her earrings. "Not as odd as you being out of school for so long."
Adrien gazed up at the sky, thoughtful.
"... Are you coming back?"
"... Yes." The decision came to him easily. "All of you guys are there. My therapist thinks it's a good idea to be close to my support network. And Chloe's already offered to pull some strings so I'm not swarmed by paparazzi every day."
"So weird for Chloe to use her evil powers for good," Marinette muttered.
Adrien's lips twitched. "I'll be sure to tell her you said that."
"She probably wants to attach a helicopter pad to the school roof," Marinette joked.
"I talked her out of it."
Marinette choked a bit at that. Glancing at Adrien, she could see the tension he had when she first walked up to him was all but gone. His smile came easier. But... "If you needed to come here you could've said so. You made Nino worry."
"Ah." Adrien rubbed the back of his neck. "I didn't know I needed to until this morning."
Ignoring the little voice in her head that panicked at the thought, Marinette grabbed Adrien's hand. His fingers curling around hers. "So you're not just avoiding the meeting we have with the Guardian?"
"Well," he finally grinned. "That too."
"He's not going to take Plagg away, you know. Maman won't let him."
"Ha! No, I don't think she would." Adrien gazed at Emilie's name carved in stone. "... You go ahead. I'll catch up."
Reluctantly, Marinette squeezed his hand before letting go. There was something else she wanted to say. But the words wouldn't come. Not taking her eyes off him until she passed the Gorilla.
Adrien turned back to his mother's grave with a bittersweet smile. "That's her. Ladybug. She's incredible, you'd like her. Stubborn, driven, intelligent. Couldn't ask for a better partner..." He placed a hand on the stone. "I wish you could've met her."
Floating out of Adrien's pocket Plagg laid his paw on top of the boy's hand.
"This is Plagg. He's a smug little troublemaker but that's part of his charm."
Plagg might've commented on Adrien's own troublemaking tendencies if this were any other circumstance. As it was Plagg just nuzzled against Adrien's hand.
A thought took root in Adrien's mind. "...Plagg?"
Ears twitching, Plagg looked up at his kid.
"Can... Can she hear me?"
Oh. Oh.
Plagg hated that question. The answer was never enough. Never as simple as yes or no. Over the centuries he'd lied through his teeth to ease his holders' burdens.
Adrien waited for his answer with trusting, patient eyes.
He swallowed the easy falsehood, burning his throat as it went. "I'll make sure she gets your messages," Plagg promised, ears drooping.
And for the first time in ten thousand years Plagg's holder simply nodded. "Thank you."
"...C'mon, kid," Plagg urged when Adrien didn't say any more. "They're waiting for you."
Sniffling, Adrien rubbed his eyes. "Y-yeah. Right."
Nino hugged Adrien tightly, practically squeezing the air out of his lungs. Kagami was little better. It was impressive how threatening she sounded while prompting Adrien to take care of his mental health. Sabine, by comparison, gave soft hugs and gentle encouragement.
Adrien loved all of it.

Ok, first of all
HOW DARE YOU MAKING ME THINK I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY FOR THE NEW CHAPTER!? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF THE HEART ATTACK I HAD THIS MORNING WHEN I SAW THE UPDATE!?!?
Ok, now that, ehm... I'm calmed down, let me gush on your art piece once again.
I loved everything. I said last time that I wanted some shocking dose of angst, but I didn't knew how heart clenching would have been seeing Ron saying goodbye to... his friends, again, and for the last time. How many things not said, how many plans that will never see the light, how many... apologies, never to be make...
I'm happy that the mirror made him see (and hear) what his loved one truly thought of him, but I'm still bitter for the fact that he had to DIE before he actually got some vocal recognition.
But moving on from depressing topics, I loved seeing the sibling so tight with each other and Harry! I felt almost as if you anticipated Harry's second year summer, and now they get to see Sirius too? Original Harry would be terribly proud of his Ron and terribly jealous of that little Harry...
I really liked Pettigrew's breakdown at the end of the process. And I loved (and hated too, of course) his threats: making 'regret to be born' the same guy that fought and gained the upper hand on Bellatrix? Twice!? Ok buddy, whatever makes you feel better... But if in order to hurt Ron you target one of his brothers or Ginny... well, it has never been a pleasure meet you.
And it's also good seeing Pandora alive! Another Truespartan's Fateverse character added in the rooster, I can't wait to see her in action!
And at least this time Albus is actually ackwnoledging Ron, wonder if he's already planning a role for him in his chessplay againts Tom. I hope he will grow to love him as he'll love Harry.
And I know tastes are subjective but... I think the anon was just short sighted, Ron is totally the person that for his loved ones is ready to move mountains and seas (Buckbeak's trial proved it. How he started searching for past trials in his free time is proof how much is ready to invest himself if it means to help his friend) and I don't expect that everything is going to be all fine and dandy the whole time. Peter's threats scream 'FORESHADOWING' for an ipotetical plot in the third year (way less traumatazing regarding what happened with him in Fate... brrr). Ron is just... trying to sow the best he can, and only at the reaping time we'll see what he did right or wrong.
Keep it going! You are an increadible writer! See you next time, and happy new year!
(And give me some Daphne showtime damn it!!)
First off, anon, happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
Ahaha, sorry about the mini-heart attack.  I was aiming to post chapters 14 and 15 relatively close together because they’re initially planned to be one chapter but I hit some snags so yeah, chapter 15 got delayed.  But at least it’s up now, right?  :)
[Warning: Long response ahead. ]
I said last time that I wanted some shocking dose of angst, but I didn't knew how heart clenching would have been seeing Ron saying goodbye to... his friends, again, and for the last time.
That part at the mirror was very relatable, I think.  There are things we will always want, but deep down, we know they can never be.  In order for Ron to move forward, he had to acknowledge that and let go, something he learned he had to do after that Owlery scene with Harry.
Not that he entirely has, mind you.  But it’s a good step forward.
I'm happy that the mirror made him see (and hear) what his loved one truly thought of him
It’s a comforting interpretation, but I feel the need to remind my readers that the Mirror of Erised shows only the deepest desires of its viewer. The scene where the new life versions of Ron’s loved ones take over the older ones, telling Ron that they accept and love him, is Ron’s true deepest desire now that he time travelled. Not that it is what’s real.  That’s why Ron broke down, because he knows deep down it’s just a fantasy.  Weell, we know that’s not entirely true, but to him it is.
(The Deluminator souvenir from Death and its visions, on the other hand...)
but I'm still bitter for the fact that he had to DIE before he actually got some vocal recognition.
You know what they say: you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.  :shrugs: Honestly, Ron is such a taken-for-granted character both in the books and in the fandom, it’s so frustrating...
Anyway, getting off the angst train!
I loved seeing the sibling so tight with each other and Harry! I felt almost as if you anticipated Harry's second year summer, and now they get to see Sirius too?
I wanted to show the tight knit Weasley dynamic JK claims they have but never really showed because we are limited to Harry’s narrative (which is understandable).  And as what I have planned for second year summer: safe to say, it will start off like what happened in the books before it veers off canon course.  Because Sirius and Remus are there, and Ron knows it. :)
Original Harry would be terribly proud of his Ron and terribly jealous of that little Harry...
But of course!  I’d like to think that Ron is one of the, if not THE, characters in his age group that Harry holds such high regard for.
And who’s to say jealous Harry won’t make an appearance? When Ron’s making more friends outside the Gryffindor house, and a certain someone may get close enough to threaten the best friend position?  😉😉😉
I really liked Pettigrew's breakdown at the end of the process. And I loved (and hated too, of course) his threats: making 'regret to be born' the same guy that fought and gained the upper hand on Bellatrix? Twice!? Ok buddy, whatever makes you feel better...
Pettigrew doesn’t know who he’s messing with, but Ron too is underestimating the rat a little too much.  Good thing that won’t cause him any problems in the future. 😒
But if in order to hurt Ron you target one of his brothers or Ginny... well, it has never been a pleasure meet you.
Now that would make Pettigrew wish he was never born.  Haha!
And it's also good seeing Pandora alive! Another Truespartan's Fateverse character added in the rooster, I can't wait to see her in action!
Pandora is Luna’s mother’s canon name, but yes I did get the inspiration from Fate, as well as The Red Knight.  But she won’t be around until Book 2.  Don’t worry, it will come.  I hope.  :sweatdrop:
And at least this time Albus is actually ackwnoledging Ron, wonder if he's already planning a role for him in his chessplay againts Tom.
Of course Albus will notice a smart and wise beyond his years eleven year old who became best friends with Harry Potter, managed to take on a troll then get involved in the reveal and arrest of a mass murderer who may have something more in common with him than he originally thought (coughmirroroferisedcough).  How Ron will benefit from this attention (if he ever will) or how he’ll deal with this new complication will be part of the story’s fun.  And we’re just getting started.
I hope he will grow to love him as he'll love Harry.
I think many can already tell where I’m planning to go with Albus and Ron’s relationship.  The specifics, however, are the ones I can leave you guys guessing.  It will be good!  Hopefully! 🤞
And I know tastes are subjective but... I think the anon was just short sighted, Ron is totally the person that for his loved ones is ready to move mountains and seas (Buckbeak's trial proved it. How he started searching for past trials in his free time is proof how much is ready to invest himself if it means to help his friend)
I saw it as Guest being too fixated at what happened in the books that they didn’t take into account that the second I changed something in the fic, the butterfly effect is bound to occur.  In fact, Ron’s very presence in a world that isn’t what he left behind is already creating many ripples.  I honestly also saw it as them underestimating Ron a bit.  He’s a typical boy during most of the books: lazy with his studies because he is unmotivated.  Give him purpose and you’ll get to see him really shine, exactly like what you said about the Buckbeak thing.
It’s canon that Ron is smarter than he appears.  I mean, can a normal eleven year old remember the exact names of the laws on dragons, even if their brother is a dragon tamer?
(It’s also another good basis on how much Ron admires Charlie that he can remember that much! Sorry, Solstice Muse turned me into a Charlie/Ron bro fluff fangirl after Ickle Ronniekins)
I don't expect that everything is going to be all fine and dandy the whole time. Peter's threats scream 'FORESHADOWING' for an ipotetical plot in the third year (way less traumatazing regarding what happened with him in Fate... brrr).
Fate is a very heavy read, combining some of my favorite Ron-centric tropes while taking their fic to a newer, darker spin.  Truespartan has done a wonderful with it so far (I haven’t finished it yet,).  But as most of you can already tell, my story will be fart different from theirs.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be some dark moments in TBA.  And I’m so thrilled that you got the idea behind Pettigrew’s threats.  They ARE foreshadowing what is to come starting Year 3.  But what exactly?  Care to take a guess?
Ron is just... trying to sow the best he can, and only at the reaping time we'll see what he did right or wrong.
Very true.  Although to me, it’s not a matter of whether it’s just “right or wrong”, and more of “can Ron deal with the consequences of the changes he made, and whether those consequences are worth the changes?”
Example: from a strictly moral standpoint, revealing Pettigrew and clearing Sirius’ name is the best good and what Ron should do from that thematic perspective.  However, these actions will cause some events to change from what he knew, and even cause entirely new ones (i.e. the plot of Year 3).  Is it worth the possibility of rendering Ron’s future knowledge almost useless?  Who knows?
Keep it going! You are an increadible writer! See you next time, and happy new year!
Thank you so much for your kind words!  You guys are the reason TBA is still running even after all these years and me taking long breaks.  I hope to finish TBA Year 1 within 2021 so please be patient with me.  I’ll do my best!
(And give me some Daphne showtime damn it!!)
Oh, trust me, I have big plans for Daphne and Astoria.  Might get flak for it in the future, but for this, I’ll have to stick with my guns.  Oh dear...
💖 Happy New Year to you too, anon! And thanks for the ask. 💖

Tumblr media
You knock on the door of the dance studio, carrying a bag of take-out in one hand and your phone in the hand that knocked on the door. You had earlier texted the group chat to alert the boys that you were on your way with lunch, and Youngjo responded with an "okay" and series of emojis.
The door opens, and you are met with Youngjo, smiling brightly at you with his phone in hand. You can see the other five members behind him, all staring in your direction while sitting on the floor.
"Hey Y/N!" Dongju calls out before Youngjo can say anything, waving at you.
Dongju is the closest to your age in the group, the member you had befriended five years ago, before ONEUS's debut. He had been the one to introduce you to the rest of the group.
"Hey Dongju," you say, waving back. "Hey everyone!" Youngjo opens the door to let you enter the practice room. Keonhee grabs the plastic bag of takeout from your hand, sets it down on the floor, and starts taking the food out, while Geonhak, who was sitting closest to the door, quickly stands up and helps you get your coat off and folds it to set it aside for you.
"Thank you," you say to Geonhak. "It's raining outside."
"I can tell," Geonhak says, laughing. "Your hair is dripping. I should come with you next time to help you bring us food."
"What song were you guys practicing?" you ask, sitting down between Dongju and Geonhak. Geonhak sits down in his spot, helping Keonhee set all the food up.
"We were practicing A Song Written Easily," Seoho says. You sigh, smiling softly, thinking of the pretty song, which came out about three months ago. You've always admired the music, the raps, the vocals, the choreography of the song. It might not be your favorite song, but it is still a masterpiece.
"Oh, I've always wanted to learn that choreography," you say dreamily. "It's always so pretty to watch and rewatch your performances."
"You watch our performances?" Geonhak asks, turning to face you with an eyebrow raised, and you nod.
"Of course. I watch them almost every day, when I have time. I'm your friend, I want to support my friends," you say.
"Y/Nie, that's so sweet," Youngjo says.
"The choreographies are so pretty, I've always wanted to learn them," you continue.
"We could teach you sometime!" Hwanwoong says cheerfully. "Which choreographies do you want to know most, Y/Nie?"
"Oh gosh, I don't know. A Song Written Easily or Valkyrie, probably," you say. If you were to be honest, you would have listed every single one of their songs with choreographies, but that would be unrealistic.
"We still have practice for another two hours after our lunch break, you can watch us practice if you want," Geonhak suggests.
You nod, unable to stop yourself from smiling.
After the boys have finished eating the food you brought them--Dongju gave you a bit of his food--you hang out with them for half an hour.
"What choreographies do you know already, Y/N?" Seoho asks.
"Mostly girl group choreos," you say shrugging. "Especially because TWICE's and SNSD's songs are so catchy. I know a few Pentagon and BTS choreos."
"Oh? Do you know the choreo of Pentagon's Shine?" Seoho asks, and you nod. "Show us."
While he plays Shine from the speaker, the two of you do the choreography together while the others watch, laughing, clapping and singing along. After you've finished, you're sweating and panting. Seoho  as a K-Pop idol, is used to this workout. You, on the other hand, are not a K-Pop idol. You can barely call yourself athletic. Of course you're out of breath from doing the shoot dance.
"Good job," Seoho says, patting your back as you sit back down next to him. "You would make a good trainee."
Geonhak nudges you, and offers me an unopened plastic water bottle.
"Thank you," I say, taking it and downing the water.
"Y/N, what other choreos do you know?" Hwanwoong asks. An idea pops into your head, and you stand up on achy, tired legs.
"Just one. Let me get my phone out," you say, opening your phone and opening YouTube. You start typing in the search bar, 'Leedo 5G'.
The music starts playing, and the members except Geonhak and Youngjo start laughing, before getting to their feet and joining you in the dance. Hwanwoong and Seoho imitate the deep voice while Dongju, Keonhee and you just imitate the dance. Geonhak is pretending to cover his eyes as he laughs in embarrassment. Youngjo is laughing while watching, mouthing along with the song.
After the song ends, you all sit back down in your spots next to Geonhak, laughing off your joy and amusement.
"I should have quit all those years ago," Geonhak murmurs, but he can't hide his smile from you. "I hate you all."
Tumblr media
The boys resume their practice of A Song Written Easily. They move in sync, their footsteps echoing off the walls as they dance. You're seated with your back against the wall, your computer on your lap for work.
After about half an hour, you set your computer aside and watch the boys practice. They move so beautifully, you can tell it takes years of hard work and passion.
You've sat in on many of their practices within the past few years, but they still never fail to make you smile. It's like watching a painter work on their work in progress. You know it's going to be a masterpiece in the end, but there's a strange joy or honor in watching them create and perfect the piece. You see the piece when it's nothing, when it's a masterpiece, and everything in between.
After they've finished practicing, they all wander around the room, wiping sweat off of their foreheads and grabbing at their water bottles, talking about plans for after practice. Youngjo, Keonhee and Seoho are talking on the other side of the room, while Dongju and Hwanwoong are messing around in the corner. Geonhak, sweating, walks toward you. You grab Geonhak's bottle, the closest to you against the wall, and hand it to him as he approaches.
"Ah, thank you," he says, smiling gently as he sits down next to you. You admire his figure. He’s so large. His dark hair sticks to his forehead, and his skin glistens with sweat. He dabs away at his neck and cheeks with a towel. "What?" he asks you, eyebrows furrowed in a frown.
"Huh?"
"You're staring," Geonhak murmurs, just barely loud enough for you to hear, but not loud enough for the others to hear while milling about the practice room. You blink before looking away, but you can hear him laughing gently.
"Hey Geonhak," Youngjo calls out, drawing Geonhak's attention away from you before you can even think of a response. "The rest of us have to quickly help Seoho re-record for a song, come with us."
"Okay. We'll be back soon, Y/N," Geonhak says, waving goodbye. You wave back, smiling as he closes the door behind him.
You stay in the room alone, glancing at yourself anxiously in the large mirror, which stretches from floor to ceiling, end to end of the wall and curves somewhat to the adjacent walls. It probably helps the members watch their stance from more than one angle when they practice.
After a moment of considering what you can do to fill the silence, you push yourself to your feet and stand in the center of the room, in front of the mirror. You think back to the start of the A Song Written Easily choreography, and absentmindedly stand sideways in Geonhak's position.
You sigh, walk over to your computer and place it in front of the room, so that it’s set up against the mirror with the Weekly Idol Leedo clip of A Song Written Easily playing on full screen as you clumsily attempt to copy Geonhak's movements. You find it's not as easy as he always makes it seem, his movements confident and intentional and elegant, while your movements are stiff, clumsy and awkward, and you almost fall over several times.
How does he keep his balance? you wonder, frustrated as you restart the song for the fourth time, despite having only gotten twenty seconds into the song.
This time, you clumsily make it all the way up to the start of Geonhak's rap verse, about thirty seconds into the song. At the sound of his voice, you freeze up, watching in awe. His moves aren't elegant and flowy during his rap, but they're intentional and beautiful nonetheless. His body control is impressive.
Because he's a dancer.
"Wow . . ." you murmur. You wait until after his verse has ended to restart the song and try again.
You follow his moves as closely as you can, but you end up stumbling getting lost.
"Ah, damn it . . ."
"You're a bit ahead of the beat."
Startled, you whip around at the sound of a familiar deep voice, and Geonhak is standing at the back of the room. He’s leaning against the wall, a pleasant smile on his face as he watches you.
"I, uh, what? I mean--I'm sorry?" Your words come out in a jumbled mess as you bend down to pause the music.
"During Dongju's part, you lose your balance and move a bit too fast. You get lost right before Keonhee's part. I recommend you slow the song down to half speed when you practice at home."
You stare at him blankly.
"You're doing my part," he remarks.
"Yeah," you reply dumbly, ducking your head. Hopefully he hasn't noticed you blushing and smiling like an idiot. You're not used to people watching you do things, and you're not much of a dancer. You wonder how long he's been watching you. "Aren't you supposed to be with everyone helping Dongju record?"
Geonhak shrugs. "Thought you might be lonely. So I thought I'd check on you."
"Oh."
"Do you want help with the choreo?"
You shake your head. "That’s okay. You must be tired from practice. Maybe some other time, Geonhak."
"I'm not that tired. Try it again, I can direct you." He moves to sit in front of you, back against the mirror with your computer on his lap so you can see the screen. He starts the song over again.
You try the dance again, feeling how his eyes follow you as you move as he plays the song for you. He calls out to you as you dance, firmly but gently so as not to distract you too much. "You're rushing, slow down a bit. Step. Step. Step. There you go."
His deep voice is calming, you think. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. But right now, it is. You follow his instructions, going through the first half of the first verse twice. You stop just as his rap begins, and he pauses the music, standing up from where he sits.
"Good job, you're improving. You need to relax your muscles. And bend your knees a bit more at the beginning, like this." Geonhak demonstrates, humming the song as he moves. You watch him dance, mesmerized, not paying as much attention to the moves as you should be.
"Y/N, are you even paying attention?"
You blink, coming back to your senses. "Oh, yes. Your dancing is amazing," you say, and Geonhak smiles shyly, glancing around the room. He is easily made shy.
"Ah, thank you."
"Geonhak?"
He looks back at you, face serious once more, but he's still smiling a bit. "Yes?"
"Could you . . . could you please teach me how to dance?" you ask. "I've wanted to dance so much, but it's so hard to in my free time, plus I'm not good at teaching myself this stuff. I know you're a busy man, so you can say no, but would mean a lot if you could teach me."
Geonhak blinks at you, brow furrowed. Not in anger but in confusion. At the same time, his eyes are wide and his cheeks are a bit pink. "Me? Y/N, I'm not the best dancer on the team. I'm a dancer but . . . maybe Hwanwoong or Seoho would be better teachers?"
You shake your head stubbornly. "Other than Dongju, you're the member I'm the closest to. I'm much more close to you than I am to Hwanwoong and Seoho. I'm kind of too nervous to ask them. Besides, when you were guiding me earlier, it really helped me."
After a moment, he smiles. "Alright, I'll teach you to dance."
You look up happily. "Really?"
Geonhak laughs, nodding. "Yes, I'll teach you to dance. But not today, I'm too tired. Here's a plan. What if I teach you twice a week, after ONEUS practices. You can use this practice room whenever you need, though."
You nod. "Yes, absolutely."
"I'll also be giving you 'homework' too. You need to exercise and stretch, you need to practice on your own. Alright?"
"Alright."
The door bursts open, and in walk the rest of the members. Youngjo, Keonhee and Hwanwoong are discussing something about the recording, while Dongju and Seoho are play wrestling, Dongju trying hard to bite at Seoho's finger.
"Oh, there you two are," Youngjo says, smiling.
"How'd the recording go?" you ask.
"It went well. It's hard to get it just right, but I think we might have gotten it right this time. If not, it was definitely close."
"That’s good to hear."
Youngjo glances from you to Geonhak, then back at you. "What were you two up to?"
"Geonhak was helping me try the A Song Written Easily choreography," you say. Youngjo opens his mouth to speak when a yell pierces through the air, echoing off of the walls, startling you, Youngjo and Geonhak. You turn to find that Dongju has finally managed to bite Seoho's finger, and you laugh.
How lucky you feel, that you befriended Son Dongju and Dongmyeong all those years ago. Otherwise you wouldn't be friends with all of the people in this room with you. And your joy isn't because you're friends with all these famous idols. No, it's because you're friends with all these silly goofballs.

fifth member - chapter 1: queen
Tumblr media
a/n: i'm pretty excited for this one. hope you enjoy!
so just to note a disclaimer: history itself is connected but they're not really precise! what would be true will be the more known events (i.e. rainbow '74, live aid, some various anecdotes, etc. etc.)
^^^ i may be putting that to every chapter of the story as well.
contains: roger being an annoying lil shit (don't worry it'll go away p soon), a bit of tension.
=====
૮ɦαρƭε૨ 1: φµεεɳ
1972, 12:50 PM
A week had passed since the last performance and since when the two of you met the band. You were getting along pretty well with the three and so was Deaky.
Everyone in the studio are currently studying their part, Brian and John rehearsing their chords, Roger testing the tempo, meanwhile you and Freddie are discussing about your part.
"So, Y/N, there won't be any piano present in this song, but, you can be part of the backing vocals." Freddie stated, handing you a handwritten copy of the lyrics.
It reads... Liar.
"You can pair with me for a while, since you haven't known the melody yet."
You nod, "Of course!" and found yourself doing a vocal range with him. Thankfully, you were a fast learner and got everything right. One thing you were missing is that you didn't have your own mic.
Freddie gathers everyone to rehearse his newly planned set list, as you followed.
He had already taught you your choreography together with him, which makes it look like both of you are the main focus of the audience.
Finding another mic stand, you try to adjust it to your height, yet one of the clips broke and left you holding the half of it. "This is absolutely fine, is it?" You awkwardly asked, as the singer comes in with the same equipment. "It probably is, B..." Deaky chimed in with your nickname, smiling as he rests his hands on top of his bass. You let out a small laugh and lightly bit your lip from smiling.
B is a running nickname for you that he always used through the years of your own friendship with him. He found it really pleasing and soft to call you that.
Oh how I wish she was mine... He swooned in his thoughts, his cheeks getting flushed.
You were completely nervous about this, even though he was told by Freddie that you and him will be by his side to sing during the bridge of Liar.
Nothing awkward happened, thankfully. The whole rehearsal went smoothly.
"Thank god we finally did it flawlessly!" Freddie flicks his hair, placing his mic stand carefully on top of a large amplifier. Roger huffs his breath out, throwing his drumsticks in the air and catching it in his hands. Brian sets his instrument down and so does Deaky. You also placed your mic stand next to Freddie's, but it had a different color.
You follow your best friend to make your way to the mixing room, but suddenly you didn't see the wire that's hanging from the amplifier. Ever since your habit has grown, you've told your clumsy self, "Once you embarrass yourself, there's no going back." majority of your own accidents always ends up to that. But this one doesn't seem to go that way.
"Oh!–" You exclaim, holding onto someone's arms, unexpecting the impact. Catching your breath and looking up, both of you had an astonished expression.
It was John.
He's holding you in his arms, few inches away from your faces. If it had gotten more closer, your lips would be meeting with his.
A heated tension fills up between the two of you.
Cheeks reddening, you slightly pulled away and stood up gently, "T-thanks, Deaks. God– I should be more careful next time..." Muttering the last part, he softly rubs your shoulder with a reassuring, yet shy smile. "It's okay Y/N... You're welcome." He hummed in the most adorable way possible as he helped you up, and made your heart skip beats.
Witnessing this endearing moment, Roger in the mixing room gives a fishy look at the curly haired guitarist, who's clearly unamused. "No. This is clearly none of your business. They're just friends remember?"
"Yeah but what if they're friends with benefits?" The blonde nagged, causing Brian to gasp in disgust.
The lead vocalist playfully slapped the drummer's shoulder, "Roger, get your fucking mind out of the gutter!" he had his arms crossed and a smug look. "Okay! Okay! I'll stop!"
You and Deaky have finally set foot inside the mixing room just as when the chaotic blonde had gone quiet. Sitting at the velvet textured couch, there was still a tiny amount of tension between the two.
That was your first time getting your clumsiness caught by him. He was never present when you had small accidents, but it sure did felt like you had been egged in the face.
Looking down, nervously fumbling with your own hands and your heartbeat pacing faster, you stutter, "I'm really sorry, John, I always avoid to be this way but I just basically embarrassed myself–"
Suddenly he raises his hand to pull you close and rub your back. Deaky gives you a comfortable grin, "Hey, B, I said it's okay.. You don't have to apologize." and finally, he warmly pulls you into a hug, burying his face to your neck, smelling your fragrant lavender cologne. Startled, you slowly wrap your arms around him, hugging back. "Thank you..."
As you two broke apart, Freddie had let out a noise of excitement which made you look at him. "Tonight, 7:30 PM, at a bar. We should be preparing ourselves soon!" He announced, earning a nod from everyone. "So, you know the drill."
"Roger, be attentive. Don't stare at the audience for too long!" The drummer nods and simply replies with "Alright!"
"Brian, double check your strings and let your inner rockstar out!" The guitarist gently tugs a grin, nodding.
"Deaky, remember to bust out your bass lines. The bassist needs more appreciation!" Your best friend smiled sweetly and nodded as he was flattered.
"And Y/N, you're always one to count on. Be graceful with me onstage!" You can't help but happily smile and giggle at his enthusiasm. "Yes, sir!" You playfully saluted.
6:55 PM, at a well-known bar...
Your band is queued next right after some light polka band is done performing for the audience, everyone's excited, except for one.
Deaky.
You had been noticing him taking deep breaths every minute or so. He tried to seek comfort from you, but to no avail, he never did. Being the good friend you are, you called out for him.
"Hey, Deaks. Everything's gonna go well with our performance, alright? If you think it's gonna go badly, it sure won't. I promise." He listens, calming down. "All you have to do is focus." You smiled fondly, and gave him a warm hug.
Just as the hug ended, the speaker outside had called for your group. "The next performers will be: Queen!"
"Let's kill it, darlings." Freddie mumbled loud enough to hear.
Stepping up on the stage, he greets everyone in the audience and started introducing every single one of you. "And these two lovelies are new ones! Meet Y/N L/N and John Deacon!" He waved and so you did, some people in the audience already likes you and the others despise you.
After the introduction got out of the way, the show has begun. It was only 4 songs so it wasn't too long. Nothing did go wrong in fact. The longer the songs progressed, the more wild the audience got. This was more than what you expected, and so did everyone else in the band.
"Thank you and good evening!"
8:04 PM
Right when the show has been done, all of you are finally in the van, a ride on the way to Freddie's flat. The conversation that he opened was about having to release an album.
"Where would we be getting the money for it then?" Roger stated, going to a sharp turn to right. "How much do you think this van is worth?" The singer questioned, and left the blonde to wonder. "Maybe we can discuss this later, Fred. We'll figure this out."
Reaching the destination, you and Deaky stay outside the front door, just realizing that your shared flat is just a few stops away.
"Deaky and Y/N, why don't you two come in?" He offers, but your friend protested, "It's fine, Freddie, our flat is just two blocks away." You also added "I think we could move there soon and live with the rest of you three." and smiled. "Ah, I see. Stay safe out there dearies!" The two of you bid goodbye, and headed to your shelter.
Finally getting inside, you huffed out your breath, decided to march straight to your own bed and flop on it face first. John quietly giggles while changing to his usual sleepwear, "Missed your bed, hm?" You rotate yourself so you lie down on your back to see him. "Definitely! Actually hold on let me change for a moment." You stood up carefully and changed to comfortable F/C colored pajamas. Not a second you're already back on your bed.
Even with numerous times you've seen Deaky only in his jogging pants and topless, you never stopped blushing. But eventually you manage to hide it from him. You turned off the lamp by your bedside table.
"Deaks, should we start moving at Freddie's tomorrow? It's the weekend tomorrow anyway, isn't it?"
"About that, I think we probably should... We have plenty of time to pack our clothes and other important things in the morning."
"Okay, noted. Goodnight, John!" You softly chuckled.
"Goodnight, Y/N!" He gently laughed.
What else would happen tomorrow?

Three Months In.
This takes place after Good Luck, Charlie. We're plugging in the holes and continuing this story line, giving you the aftermath.
Tumblr media
The news spread like wildfire. Charlie was pregnant and now everyone in the house knew although Charlie didn't look much bigger than usual. What they didn't know, was how far long and by who.
"She can do a paternity test while you're still pregnant and we could figure all of this out together as a unit," Hennessy reasoned in favor of Charlie seeing the family physician. Charlie heard every word, but Erik's threat was louder in her ear.
“I won’t kill that nigga. Simply because if it is his baby I wouldn’t forgive myself if the kid grew up without a father. I know that hurt. If it’s mine he’s dying though.”
Those were Erik's exact words when he'd shown up at her job to bring her back. He'd accepted the possibility of the child not being his and the possible involvement of another father figure in the household, although Charlie wouldn't disrespect him like that by bringing another nigga in there on principle. However, his murderous threat was very real and Charlie worried that if the baby was his, he'd kill Trevante.
Trevante had done nothing wrong. He was a good and patient distraction during a rough point in her life. Erik should be thanking him if anything for keeping her company and laughing with her after he'd broken her heart. In Charlie's mind, Erik could blame himself.. not Trevante. She'd told him as much. He didn't want to hear it, but he listened. Since Charlie had been back, Erik's ear was open and focused on her vocal chords whether he liked what she had to say or not. Every word she spoke or even mumbled under her breath, he heard. He stayed so close to her, she started to wonder if he could read her thoughts.
"What you thinking about, Cha?" She'd felt him staring at her and now his hand landed gently on her shoulder as she sprinkled cheese on her homemade pizza crust. This was him being attentive.
If you touch Trevante, N'Jadaka, I swear on this marriage and your left testicle... Don't. Do not.
"I'm just thinking.. about this pizza," she said flippantly with no expression, but his digging eyes knew different.
"Communication is our issue, Charlie. You know every fucking thing about me. I know every fucking thing about you. Yet somehow, I can't get into this one part of your mind, it's like you got it locked away and that's that unpredictable part that will misunderstand me one day and up and leave. You won't say shit, you'll just disappear one day and then I'm a be wondering what I did wrong for the next ten years."
"Sounds familiar. I feel like I'm stepping over landmines emotionally with you sometimes, like I gotta reign myself in. I'm a heavy lover, Erik. Still waters run deep. You don't always feel me and that's what I need. I crave it like I crave sweets on my period or like you crave pussy."
"I can be that for you, you just gotta be patient with me and talk to me like you doing now. I'll get it down.. just like you need it, just work with me and don't give up." His arms wrapped around her from behind.
"I wouldn't have come back if I planned to give up. I plan to make this marriage work and communicate with you the way I've learned that I need to, so you gotta be patient with me too."
"I'm patient," he nodded with a kiss on her neck. "How's the baby?" He rubbed her stomach in her simple olive green dress and she nodded. He hadn't told her to get tested, but she wasn't dumb, she knew him like she knew herself and he wanted to know badly if he was the father. She could see the question written on his forehead, he was that transparent. She wouldn't even see a physician because then they'd know exactly how far along she was and Erik would find out the truth based on the dates, she was convinced he would.
She already knew who the father was without a doubt. Trevante knew who the father was too, she didn't have to tell him.
She walked over to the refrigerator. "I'm gonna bake this pizza from scratch since I'm back in this obscenely large mansion and it has a pizza oven. What toppings do you want this time?"
"Pepperoni. Your titties bigger..." Charlie kept her eyes on the food unsure of where he'd lead the conversation. He'd been trying to fuck since she got back, but she was scared he'd hit it a bit too well.. make her confess her secrets and her sins. "..I didn't think that was possible," he added and she knew he was still staring. "You thickening up all over. You know it's hard for Daddy too keep his hands to himself when you this thick."
"I've just been eating," Charlie deadpanned. Erik's quick gust of silent laughter made her look up. He was leaning on the counter, smiling and it made her pause her actions and smile back. She sighed, her shoulders finally relaxing. "I did miss you, N'Jadaka." She genuinely meant it. As hurt as she was, she'd always loved him and that could never change. "..In all your stupid lil moments," she snickered turning quickly to wait on his comeback to fire.
"Mine?! What about you, Ms. Troublemaker," he yelled playfully, watching her shove the pizza into the oven.
"I have no idea what you're referring to." Her stubborn eyes gave nothing away while his twinkled with humor and she was warmed to know that no matter what they went through in their relationship, they could bounce back and still have fun just like this.
As long as he didn't kill Tre.
---
"Girl, you're pregnant now. You can't be eating all this junk and empty calories. You're eating for two and some things you just don't need to eat," Hennessy admonished taking Charlie's pint of Rocky Road and replacing it with a big bowl of spinach and tomato salad.
"Don't nobody want no twigs and berries," Charlie grimaced, ultimately caving and accepting the healthier option. She was just hungry.. and all the time. Hennessy had the kitchen staff restock the fridge with healthier choices removing all of the snacks to make things easier. With two pregnant women in the house, one six months along and battling with her health, they needed all the nutrients they could gather.
"I wish we could sneak in and talk to Angel," Charlie said wistfully staring at the salad on her fork. "But Erik has her under lock and key like a prisoner, afraid that anything will be too much. I mean, the girl is physically fragile right now, yes, but she's not fragile fragile. I just wanna see her.. Lay eyes. I've only seen her like once since I've been back and that was when we gave her her gifts."
"You know how stubborn that man is. Once he gets it in his mind that he's right, no one can change his mind."
"She's probably lonely... and what about the nursery? Can't we finish it?"
"No, he's contacting Kristina Rhodes, the interior designer she loves. She'll be okay, it'll be a good surprise for her."
"Yeah, that's true," Charlie agreed stuffing her mouth with more salad as she stood with the bowl. "Someone still needs to pluck that wild hair up Erik's ass though. If Angel weren't going through hell with her pregnancy, she would set him straight."
"Sounds like a mission for King Jade," Hennessy stared. Charlie thought about it. She might be okay to go if she remained in control. He wouldn't get her in his clutches.
"You know, a month ago I'd have been too tired and nauseous, but I've been feeling pretty good lately," Charlie stretched. "You might be right. It has been a while afterall.. I just have to make sure I pee first. I haven't been able to stop."
"That's normal because neither could Angel, but you should still get your check-ups. Even if you don't do the paternity test, we don't need a repeat of this drama or Erik acting any crazier than he already is because if he snaps, I'm scared we'll all be locked in this house and I'll have to hurt him."
"Pfft," Charlie grinned, "I'd poof with Poosy and get medical care elsewhere. After witnessing this bearded nut in action, I refuse."
---
Charlie stared at the Mischief Managed mug sitting on her desk full of honey and ginger tea. She pinched the bridge of her nose, stressed as Trevante kept insisting and insisting the same thing over and over.
"I don't care, Tre... No," she shrugged. "No, I'm not telling him... Oh well!... Not yet," she reiterated. Trevante kept pushing her to tell Erik and the rest of the kompound the truth and to see a physician to check on her and the baby's health, but Erik's threat was still fresh to her and echoing in her head.
"Stop fuckin worrying about me, Charlie, I'm good. I keep telling you, I'm a grown man and I can handle myself. That baby has a father and you know who it is. Don't make him worry too long... It's his baby too and if I were him I'd wanna know."
Always so level headed. Trevante was a gem and she'd forever be grateful for him. She smirked, picking up her mug. "So, was the pussy worth this drama?" She sipped her tea, imagining his face from her blunt question.
"..Uhhhhhhh..," he paused and she gasped, smiling at the phone. "I'm kidding, hell yeah it was worth it. I wanted you before you knew who I was... but I respect your relationship. As long as you're happy."
As long as you're happy.
"I am," Charlie smiled. There weren't many people, men especially, that she trusted.. and not many people, men especially, would genuinely be happy for a person in Charlie's situation. She was very aware of that fact and she respected him more than she could ever verbally express.
---
"I've been keeping this big secret because I've been afraid of the fallout, but I don't know. I don't know if I should tell the truth. What do you think, Lady Tigra?" Charlie sat with her legs folded staring at the clouds moving slowly across the sky as the large Bengal and Siberian mixed tiger splashed up from her pond wetting Charlie's loose grey t-shirt and black leggings. She laughed. She wasn't soaked, it was just a splash.
Tumblr media
"Should I do it," Charlie asked as the large feline emerged, circling her to sit beside her before laying down. Charlie rubbed her back, the wet thick hairs a comfort. "You know, they say if you have heartburn it's because your kid has a lot of hair. I wonder if Mini Charlie will be as hairy as us.. That reminds me.. we need a name for this new bundle of joy. I'm thinking Czar if it's a boy.. or D'artagnan, something interesting. Atreyu..."
"And if she's a girl?" Erik's voice came smoothly from behind causing Charlie to look back. She wondered how much he'd heard.
"I'm not sure, I thought of Monaco," she murmured, looking up at him. He sat on her other side, watching the same sky in thoughtful silence.
"I've been thinking Jada.. pretty like her mom."
Charlie smiled, watching him from the corner of her eye. It was a peaceful scene that she wished she could stay in forever.. that moment, wedged between Erik and Tigra, her protectors.. the sun high and the clouds clear.. wind blowing a gentle breeze. She decided it was now or never.
"I like N'Jada.. It has a little bit of both her parents."
There it was. She'd dropped the bomb waiting for it to register.
Erik's eyes widened as he turned to her, his breathing suddenly faster. He searched her eyes intensely grabbing her face and waiting for her to take it back, flinging himself at her when she smiled. She fell on Tigra and rolled trying to crawl as Tigra looked on, Erik's embrace tight and his lips covering her in a barrage of excited kisses. "OKAY," Charlie yelled through tears of laughter. "Tell me you forreal. How you know," Erik rushed not letting her up.
"Condoms, Erik! Lots of condoms. You really thought I'd let some guy nut in me? I barely let you nut in me!.. Now that you know the truth, you better not bother Trevante, let's just both leave him alone."
"Girl ain't nobody thinking bout that nigga, this my kid!" He stood helping her to her feet before grabbing her up in another tight embrace that threatened to break her in half. It was the best news he'd gotten in a while. A long while. Hoisting her up into his arms, he jogged back to the house with her clinging to his torso, her legs around his waist. He burst through the door like the police, causing a ruckus as he yelled to anyone in the house who could hear.
"IT'S MY BABY!! Y'ALL!! IT'S MY MUHFUCKIN BABY!! MY WIFE, MY SEED!!"
He held Charlie to his body preventing her from jumping down as he continued his loud decree.
"What the hell is wrong with you," Davita came running with Kimora close behind.
"It's my baby," he repeated, his grin stretching from ear to ear.
"Did she get the paternity test?"
"No need, my condom game strong," Charlie sighed. "Plus, I did the math after my last period and this pitbull here was definitely in these guts. It was before I left."
"You didn't think you should say anything before.." Davita wasn't sold.
"I'm just glad it's Erik's," Kimora shrugged with a smirk.
Josephine poofed into the room in a black bra and high-waisted thong, her mouth covered in a black half-mask. "Hrrerrer," she removed the mask that blocked her speech, "What's happening down here?"
Erik finally set Charlie down wrapping his arms around her to show off her stomach. "It's my baby, I'm the father."
"YESSSS," she cheered getting as hype as he was, hugging him. He almost squeezed the life from her too. Charlie noticed Josie's eyes bulge in shock. "O-Okay, calm down!"
He chuckled separating himself and taking off toward the stairs, no doubt to locate and tell everyone else in the house the news as Charlie sighed in relief, a large weight off her shoulders.

I'm so upset how good Crossing the Line started out then it just got meh
Like it starts off with a sharp string section
rise, then
"This has to stop now! Whatever it is you're going through, we'll fix it together, me and you. Just like we've always done"
"No! This has to stop now! This thing where you think that you've been my friend, and don't even hear how you condescend the way you've always done."
Then it slows down and Raps comes in with
"Cassandra, listen (I'm listening)
I know it isn't true (Isn't it?)
Just look into my eyes now (Well?)
I know you see it too (Perhaps I do)
Cassandra, listen (I'm listening)
I swear its not too late. So before another line gets crossed and everything we've had is lost, just... wait"
And Cass responds
"Wait? No, I won't wait."
And the guitars come in to aid in Cass's part.
"There's a line between the winners and the losers. There's a line between the chosen and the rest. And I've done the best I could, but I've always known just where we stood. Me here with the luckless, you there with the blessed.
And that line between the beggars and the choosers. Is a line you've never let me quite ignore. How I've tried to jump that great divide, but I've never gotten the chances you were given."
And instead of the start of the song wrapping back here to a wonderful
"I will never stop now! This power that got me here, isn't one you understood. I will cross that line now, and never hold back anything again, watching as my powers ascend!"
And Raps coming in one more time
"Cass don't make me stop you! You're my friend, forever again, just let me understand. Please don't make me do this, hold onto my hand that's reaching out to you! Reaching out to you!" (the you here drags on and gets higher
Then the fucking duet ever!!! (Raps lines in parentheses)
"I won't hold back any longer (I'll keep on reaching out to you!)
You never understood me at all!! (I've been here for you through it all!)
I'll never back down, I'm just fine! (Us together again would heal the world divine!)
And I'll make sure I will cross the line! (Whatever you do don't cross the line!)" ((line syncs up here)
But instead we were ROBBED
And it just turned into a Cass only solo at the end. And no offense to Eden Espinosa, her fucking vocals are gorgeous! But they made her belt out the actual lyrics and the end and its so hard to listen to
"AND FOR US IF WE'RE OVER THATS FIIIIIIINEEEE.
"I'm crossing the line."
Wasted potential honestly.

notes: Heads up—English is not my mother tongue, so sorry if there are any grammatical errors. Also, this is not beta read but I did my best :( Constructive criticism is accepted but I'd prefer if you told me privately!
The first rays of sunshine passed through the window’s glass and gently settled on his lids. He woke up then– his sleep had been rather light for the past few days, which was no surprise, given that every once in a while he would have trouble sleeping at all, and if he managed to fall asleep he would wake up very early or due to the weakest sound.
The bad dreams clearly weren’t helpful either, because although his self-hatred had seemed to decrease in frequency and intensity since Aoba moved in with him, they were still unfortunately a significant  part of his life, and more often than not they were as disturbing as they had been during the worst years of his life. They got especially bad during some concrete dates, such as the anniversary of the death of his mother and during other kinds of festivities in which he would have spent time with her, which included a day like today, on his birthday.
Since that incident took place, he had started hating and blaming himself. He had become a monster, a murderer and someone who didn't deserve forgiveness. He had talked to Aoba about this many times, sometimes without even mentioning any of the traumatic events in particular, just addressing his current mood, and Aoba would always tell him that it wasn’t his fault at all. That he was a victim. That he couldn’t have helped what happened. And Koujaku wasn’t oblivious to this, in fact, since Aoba had found out about this, he had found it easier to keep going and be rational. Having someone supporting him unconditionally and showering him with love had been of great help, but when he looked down to his hands, he could see them covered in the blood of his mother. When he closed his eyes to sleep, he could still see his mother laying in bed, feeling weak and getting closer to her now unavoidable end. As much as he tried to listen to Aoba, to actually believe him, and as much as he, in a way, could understand that he would have never hurt his mother voluntarily, he couldn’t fully believe it. He thought that in the end, no matter his intentions, he had been, and would always be the one who wounded her so badly and condemned her to an agonizing and humiliating death. As if the pain she had had to go through while she was alive hadn’t been enough. He was her killer. And he was convinced that no support from anyone would ever convince him otherwise.
“Koujaku…” the man heard coming from his side. He quickly turned his head, a bit startled, and looked at Aoba.
The other was laying in bed next to him. He was naked, the sheets covering slightly his lower part. He stood up slightly as he rubbed his tired eyes, having trouble to keep them open, the rays of sun that sneaked through the blinds painting Aoba’s pale skin and showering his beautiful golden eyes in light, making them look brighter and warmer than usual.
Besides that, his hair had changed quite a bit since he had moved in. Almost two years had passed since then, and his hair had grown almost to where he had had it before he let Koujaku cut it. It was looking a little messy from sleep, but despite that, it was long and gorgeous as ever—which Koujaku had credit to himself for, thank you very much, because since they got together it had been his goal to help Aoba keep it healthy, shiny and soft, and Aoba had agreed easily because even if he wouldn’t admit it, he enjoyed the touch of his lover’s fingers through his hair and skin more than anything else, and well… To be honest, even if he’d wanted to, the hairdresser was just too enthusiastic about this as to deny him what he had called himself “his biggest desire”.
“Oh, Aoba…” a smile appeared in Koujaku’s lips while looking at him with a soft expression. The sight of him could have almost made him forget that he barely got any sleep last night. “Good morning”, he said as he brought his hand to Aoba’s face, caressing his cheek. The other leaned on the touch lovingly and closed his eyes for a moment. He opened them soon after, now showing a bit of worry as he looked at his boyfriend in the eye. “Hey… Something wrong? Could you get some sleep last night?”.
“Uh..” he removed his hand from the other’s cheek and averted his gaze. “A little… But not much. Is it so obvious?”.
“I can tell when you’re not feeling good”... Aoba suddenly approached Koujaku a bit more, opened his arms and hugged Koujaku’s waist tightly “because when you’re feeling good, you would usually wake me up like this”, he continued by kissing his skin, landing small kisses on his hips and belly.
Aoba’s actions inevitably brought a grin to Koujaku’s face. The younger man was so sweet he couldn’t handle it sometimes. Not that he didn’t like it… to him this was a blessing. Koujaku let Aoba caress him however he wanted, so he kept kissing him, making his way up his chest, planting his lips on his shoulders, neck… And when he finally reached his face, he sit down properly and stopped, looking at him in the eyes. Koujaku returned the gaze, silently waiting for Aoba to say or do something.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” Aoba questioned, alternating his gaze between his lover’s eyes and lips, and not wanting to insist on whatever thoughts were causing his lover uneasiness. He caressed Koujaku’s arms slowly as he waited for his answer.
“No,” Koujaku finally determined. He really didn’t want to dig up anymore on his thoughts. He was tired of them making him distracted for days and nights. He might be alone with his worst fears when he sleeps, repeating themselves again and again on his head, but when he was awake he had the power, and he also had a wonderful man in front of him that would do anything to keep them away for as long as possible. He was tired of spending so much time while he was awake letting the nightmares get to him. Today he found himself strong enough to move past it, and with Aoba by his side, he was determined to have the best day he could make of it. So as a smirk appeared on his face, he took his boyfriend by the waist and pushed him against the mattress. Aoba let out a little whimper, probably a bit taken aback by the sudden change of atmosphere. Koujaku kissed his boyfriend in the lips, hard and a bit dramatically, and his lips eventually left his with a smack.
“No,” he repeated, and that second time it sounded way more lighthearted. “I can think of way more interesting things we could do instead...” he said with a grin on his face, and a way more playful look in his eyes now.
Aoba seemed pleased by Koujaku’s renewed energy. He wrapped his arms around the other’s shoulders. A bright smile formed on his lips as well, his eyes locked on Koujaku’s and exuberant with love and pride. “Yes?” he closed the distance between them even more, their foreheads touching. “Like what?”.
“Like this…” Koujaku started kissing his lips once again, this time taking his sweet time, slowly and hungrily. His hands started to touch all over Aoba, as if he couldn’t help himself.
Aoba followed him and started caressing the back of his neck, while bringing his other hand to Koujaku’s chest. He could feel his heartbeat accelerating. Eventually they broke their kiss and looked at each other. They both couldn’t content a little laugh. When Koujaku approached his lips once again, Aoba stopped him, taking’s Koujaku’s face between his hands and making the older male look at him.
“Koujaku…” Aoba whispered softly, his smile still bright on his face. “I love you. I love everything about you, more than anything else. I’ll always be here for you and I’ll give you as much as I can. Happy birthday”.
Although Aoba’s loving words weren’t unexpected anymore, he still felt an immense happiness every time he got to hear them. Although he already knew this, that Aoba loved him, and he would still know it even if the other didn’t feel comfortable saying them, he couldn’t feel luckier when he was vocal, when he got to hear the other open up and be honest about his feelings for him. He couldn’t believe it sometimes, that Aoba had chosen to stay beside him, and that everyday he seemed to love Koujaku even more. He also couldn’t believe that he found himself falling for him even deeper every day, and yet, here they were, looking at each other with all the love they had.
Even if he struggled many days, and felt many important moments were ruined by the demons he had within himself, he knew that with Aoba by his side, they would never get close enough to destroy him. And that one day, he would defeat them, so he and Aoba could live the most peaceful and happy lives they could possibly live. And maybe one day he would be able to sleep all night, every day, and Aoba wouldn’t have to ask him how he was feeling anymore after waking up. He couldn’t wait for those days, but in the meantime, he would take moments like these with his lover, and they would fight together to make all moments as happy as these.
The end!
Happy birthday Koujaku! One of the characters I love the most. I haven't written in a veeery long time, and lately I haven't been able to do anything at all, so finishing this has been a great accomplishment! I'm not the most skilled writer out there, but I'm hoping this is good enough!
I'll try to write more often from now on, although I'm usually an artist (you can find me on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and nearly everywhere under @utakelis [carrd]. I also have a NSFW/fandom account on Twitter, @beelzeboobi, but since it's NSFW please just check it out if you're an adult!).
I'm in many fandoms and I'm considering writing for some. You can take a look to my fandom list in case you're interested! Feel free to follow or request!
Feedback on this would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much and stay safe!
