That fanfic I promised based on this post by @coy-lee btw THANK YOU for letting me get away with this. Means a lot!! This is my first time doing this, so please excuse the Y/N and errors. Anywho, let’s get on with it!

One thing missing

Their latest ‘experiment’ wasn’t…going well, to say the least. It’d already exploded in their faces 7 times, and that’s not including the test runs. The worst part is, they didn’t even know what they were doing wrong! “I just don’t get it! We did everything right!” Y/N was getting frustrated. “Hey, it’s alright! We tried our best, and that’s what counts here! Not if we were successful or not. That’s nothing special in my eyes(?).” Jack was getting upset with them giving up. It was frustrating just thinking about their smile off their face. But suddenly, he had an idea. “Hey, Y/N.” “Kinda busy fixing this robot right now.” “Oh, I know, I know. But could you take your mind off that for just a minute? I have something else we can do!” Really? And it’ll be easier on me?” “Yes! And it’ll be fun~!” “Don’t get cocky, Skellington.” They weren’t kidding when they said they were angry. They *were*. It was bad this time, though. He just *had* to cheer them up now! ‘I suppose it was inevitable. They were going to get upset over that.’ He thought to himself. However, this could be useful.’ (end of thoughts) “Alright. FINE. I’ll play your game.” Oh, wonderful! The plan was going swimmingly! “However.” Uh oh. “This’ll be a *short* game. I have to get back to work on this robot body, and I have to have it done by the end of the week for work.” Oh. That didn’t sound so bad. “Alright, you have yourself a deal.” And with that, they were pinned on the bed in his room. They knew what this meant. “I realized something. Our latest experiment needed something, but so long as you hold still, it should be easy to get out of you.” Oh no. OH NO. “Ready?” And with that, the gun was fired. His fingers were fast on their underarms, and that wasn’t good. “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” They were sensitive there, and it was like ticklish HELL. It only got worse from there, when he moved over to their ribs. “How many of these do you have again? One, two..” He’d started teasing now. They were a goner. “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! STAHAHAHAHAP T-TEAHAHAHAHASING!” “Ugh! Stop squirming around! You made me lose count! One, two, three~..” He kept at it there for a minute, almost as an achievement. “STAHAHAHAHAP! TOHOHOHOHOHOHOO MUCH!” They were getting desperate. “Stop? Oh, but Y/N~, I just started! Besides, I haven’t finished counting these ribs of yours yet! 7, 8, 9- Hey! No moving!” “SOHOHOHAHAHARRY! I’M HAPPY NOW! OK?!” They knew why he was doing it. He would normally pin them on the bed like this and tickle them whenever they were upset, or when he was just bored! It was INFURIATING how often he’d do that! “Well, I think you’ve been successfully put in a better mood!” “*HEAVY BREATHING INTENSIFIES*” Oh, dear. Perhaps he’d been too hard on them. “It’s alright, take as long as you need to breathe after that. I sure wouldn’t last a SECOND of that!” He said, booping their nose. He got up, and they sat up in turn. “Now, about that robot.”

This was SO FUN to write, even tho I did it at 2:30 am. Again, I wanna thank @coy-lee for making the sketch dump, and allowing me to write this. This boy either goes to sleep at 8:30 pm or 4:30 am there is no in between

It really depends on schoolwork or his training tbh

So when you can't sleep, it's either he's long into his REM cycle or you're just about to catch him heading to bed

Usually when you can't fall asleep, you're worried about your own schoolwork or an upcoming test

Midoriya will always welcome you into his room with open arms, even if he's half asleep while doing so

He'll let you talk out what's on your mind as you climb into bed with him, his arms instinctively going around your waist as you settle in

Midoriya will usually nod or hum along as you ramble, allowing your thoughts to roam while you tire yourself out

When you're done, he'll offer his best piece of advice despite it being early EARLY in the morning, and you'll just decide to sleep on it

He usually falls asleep easier around you anyway, and you, having gotten all those anxious thoughts out of your head, zonk out pretty easily as well

Todoroki has a decently regular bedtime, so if you go to wake him up in the middle of the night he will be in full Sleepy Shotou mode

You really try not to bother him too much when he sleeps, but if you get a particularly bad nightmare then you really have no choice but to knock on his door and ask to come in

Todoroki will make sure you're alright, first and foremost, and then offer up his already warm spot to you if you'd like

His eyes are half-open while doing this LMAO, but he's still aware of you and what you need

He'll tangle your legs together and let you nestle in as closely as you want

If you want to talk about the dream, he'll listen and play with the back of your hair while you talk into his chest

If you don't want to talk about the dream, you'll just lay there while he hums soft lullabies and you eventually fall into a protected sleep

Bakugou

We all know Bakugou passes out at 8 pm at the latest

So, yes, he'll be kinda pissed if you wake him up in the middle of the night

But right as he sees your upset face, not having been able to fall asleep because of a noisy mind, Bakugou will drag you into his room and then his arms

You won't really say anything for a while as he gets the two of you comfortable, but soon he'll ask you about what was up

You try your best to piece together insecurities and random thoughts that pop up, but they exhaust you even though you can't sleep from them

Bakugou knows you struggle with this, so he tries his best to get you to focus on one thing and shelve away all the other unnecessary thoughts that come up

You two work on rhythmic breathing that calms you down and gets your mind ready for bed

He may seem brash in the daytime, but I'm pretty sure Bakugou would pull through for someone he really cares about

Shinsou

No Sleep For Shinsou

He gets not being able to fall asleep, whether it be insecurities or overthinking or just not wanting to bother altogether

He totally gets it

And thus he's tried almost every remedy under the sun to bring that melatonin into his brain

When you can't sleep, Shinsou will bring out this library of knowledge and go through anything you haven't tried before

He's a whiz at making great tea, so usually Shinsou will have a cup ready by the time you step in the door

If you're not big on tea, he knows some good meditation exercises that have even helped him fall asleep

You find comfort being around other people, even when you aren't talking, so while Shinsou works on hero work at his desk, you curl up into his bed and try his remedies until you fall asleep

He'll also always cover you with a blanket, if you hadn't already done so, and shut off the main lights so you won't be disturbed by his studying

Kaminari

Also another night owl, I think

Kaminari stays up doing god knows what nearly every night, so if you can't sleep and come to find him at an ungodly hour, he's not fazed in the slightest

You two will mostly stay up and talk about random topics or make comfortable pillow forts

Kaminari strives to put your mind at ease with things that aren't that serious, so he likes to get playful and let you run that extra energy out of your system before you hit the sack

If something's on your mind, he'll let you write the issue down on a piece of paper and throw some darts at it as hard as you want so you can get that anger out

If you just need comfort, he's there with pillows and blankets to make sure you're as comfortable as you can be

He's also a great listener for someone who has a lot of energy, so if you need to talk about anything he's all ears

When you finally settle down, Kaminari will try his best to settle down himself as you two turn in for the night and roll into bed

Probably a mix of Bakugou and Kaminari, where Kirishima is a good source of energy but has a regular bedtime of like 8 or 9 pm

When you find yourself overthinking things again, you'll usually make a beeline for Kirishima's room and let yourself in

He knows it's you and doesn't sweat it when he feels someone else press down the mattress and climb in beside him

He's also kind of a light sleeper, so he'll awaken slightly when you come in

Kirishima will make sure you feel secure and hold your hands comfortingly if you need to

He's not the greatest with advice or anything like that, but he'll definitely be an ear for you if you feel like talking and he'll be more of a physical presence than a verbal one

And he's good at it too, so you'll feel instantly better just by being in Kirishima's space and being close to him

He'll have nodded off long after you joined him under the covers, but his hold on you barely lessens as you finally fall asleep too

Who did the most planning? Peter did, he choose all the fashion, the venue, paid for the wedding, got the caterer and the florist. (though Chris tried to pay for things as did Noah, but Peter wouldn’t have it. They bought the rings and Peter’s suit for him as ‘retaliation’. Chris and Noah also planned a little song called here comes the sun that their pack, friends, and family sang to them as they walked down the aisle with Peter. Noah played the guitar for the occasion with Malia.)

Who stressed the most? Chris, he’s the internal stresser of the group and he had a few panic attacks while trying to get everything in place. Noah was a close second.

How many children will they adopt? They fostered Isaac, and unofficially adopted Erica and Danny. (Boyd is part of the pack though, but since he’s mated to Erica at some point it feels weird to say they adopted him too)

Who gets stuck with the most diapers? Peter, and he doesn’t mind it one bit. He didn’t get to change many diapers for Allison & Jackson or Ben, got his fair share of them with Malia & Stiles though. But he doesn’t mind, his mates were pregnant and gave birth, so it only seems fair he needs to step up in the diaper department.

Who is the stricter parent? Chris. Noah tries but is too soft most of the time or too chaotic, and Peter just can’t say no once one of the kids pulls puppy eyes. (Especially Ben. And the others know it.)

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? Chris is best at stopping them, Noah tries to but due to his job can’t always keep an eye on them. Peter comes with them to let them explore but safely. He protects them while they do stupid shit.

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? Chris. He’s got the whole routine down to pat and is a streamlined machine in the mornings. Noah still can’t wrap his head around it.

Who is the more loved parent? The kids had a phase where they preferred Peter, since he’d just come into their lives again, but once that died down they all loved their parents equally. (Jackson would never admit it, but he comes to love Noah as a parental figure. I have something planned for that.)

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Peter, he loves to hear how his kids are doing in school and doesn’t mind to absolutely obliterate their teachers if he knows a teacher is picking on his kids. He lives for shit like this as the rich house husband to his two working husbands. Also, the opportunity to brag to Karen about Jackson & Stiles’s grades or Malia’s shop accomplishments, or Allison’s latest political victory in the student council as their vice president (Lydia’s the president, they’re a power couple.) is just too good to pass up.

Who cried the most at graduation? Peter, he finally gets to see a milestone up close and personal for all of his kids. Though Noah is openly crying as well, and Chris has watery eyes. (He keeps it in until they get home and then hugs all the kids while crying.)

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? Let’s face it, it’s Noah. He technically has to make sure that the law is upheld, but when it comes to his own kids, he’s not above giving them a pass. Though he’s more lenient towards kids in general. But yeah, Noah will most likely try and bail his kids out. Peter would let them steam for a few hours in a “You got caught, you deal with it.” Kinda way and then bail them out after a few hours. Chris would let them steam for a bit too and then determine how big the offense was before bailing them out.

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? Chris, he’s the most practiced and most efficient. Though Noah loves to cook Polish food and bread. Peter does it when both of his mates have to work or are too tired to cook. He’s getting better at it.

Who is the most picky in their food choice? Peter. Werewolf senses mean he has a fussy pallette. He hates most vegetables for one. Though he has competition in Jackson once Jackson takes the bite, the little shit is a regular Gordon Ramsey.

Who does the grocery shopping? Peter, since Noah and Chris, tend to work during the day and he’s more of a stay-at-home house husband and dad. Chris gives him the lists. That doesn’t stop him from sneaking in snacks and candy for himself, Noah, and the kids.

How often do they bake desserts? At least once a week. Whether it’s for bake sales, PTO meetings, birthdays, weekends, a tryout, there’s always a baked good on the kitchen counter.

Are they more of a meat-lover or a salad eater? Peter and Noah are more Meat lovers. Chris is a mix between the two. He likes salads and meat but doesn’t have a preference over either. Unlike the other two.

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? Peter, he takes them out to a grill restaurant. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but the quality has to be outstanding. They get their older kids to babysit and let them order anything they want as a reward.

Who is more likely to suggest going out? Once again, Peter, I feel like Noah or Chris would be more likely to be home dwellers and Peter’s the one that takes them to bars, musicals, restaurants, malls, etc.

Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? Noah, he’s not a bad cook, but he gets distracted by everything else and forgets he has pots/pans on the furnace.

Chores:

Who cleans the room? Chris or Peter. 

Who is really against chores? Noah forgets to do them sometimes, but I feel like none of them is actually against them. Peter doesn’t like to do them but he likes a clean house, so.

Who cleans up after the pets? They have eight kids, a bunch of werewolves, a banshee, a kitsune, a hellhound, a Seelie, and god knows what else running around on the full moon. You think they have room for a pet??? 

Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? Peter. If there’s no evidence it never happened. Now come help me clean this up before you papa and poppa get home. Or when it comes to his mates he just speaks softly and forgives. He’s been in a coma for six years, he’s not gonna let anything trivial get to him. Family is everything.

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? Chris. It’s his training and a bit of an OCD thing. “No, you don't get it Noah my love, EVERYTHING has to be spotless...” Cue Chris running around with a vacuum cleaner and a mop. “It’s just Melissa & Derek for wine night...”

Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? Chris, and he puts them in the fun jar that they use to reward the kids. Once the jar is full, they go shopping or do another fun activity with the kids. Bad behavior/swearing gets money removed from the jar and into the dad jar. That money is used to give Chris/Peter/Noah an extra outing if the kids were particularly difficult.

Misc:

Who takes the longer showers/baths? Noah is a slut for long showers/baths. It’s his moment of relaxation.

Who takes the dog out for a walk? Noah occasionally walks Peter in his wolf form. At some point, people think Peter is a K9 unit, and Noah rolls with it. Which opens up opportunities for Peter to stay with Noah at work.

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? Every year they decorate for Christmas, the midwinter solstice/yule, the spring equinox, thanksgiving, Halloween/Samhain.

What are their goals for the relationship? To love and support one another through anything and to keep a fun and raging sex life well into old age. But mostly to love and cherish one another and build each other up just the way they are.

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? Chris if you let him, training and habit have him up early, but his natural sleep cycle is to sleep like a log and to Noon.

how do you think engie reacts to medics terrible sleep schedule

he's always been painfully aware of it-

because his sleep schedule is just as bad.

i mean to be fair, unlike medic he does actually ATTEMPT to go to bed at a reasonable hour most nights but the two of them are just the WORST insomniacs on the team

medic just BARELY sleeps most of the time. nobody knows how he is awake at any given moment bc he's running on maybe 4 hours of rest and 2-3 cups of straight black coffee. his adhd just intensifies his insomnia so by the time it's like 11 pm his brain is going haywire and he's reading, listening to music, cleaning up the medibay, AND talking to his birds all at the same time. not to mention his teammates are idiots accident prone and tend to come by the medibay with various injuries at random points throughout the day. by the time his brain is quiet again and he has nothing to do, it's already like 4 am and he has to be awake by 9 am at the LATEST and he kinda just. accepts his fate and falls asleep on the operating table until someone comes bumbling in looking for him.

other times (like. most off days) he's passed out for like the ENTIRE day and wakes up at around 6 pm when everyone's having dinner. at this point, everyone's used to him shuffling in on saturday evenings still in his pajamas with a bird or two on his shoulder. frankly they're more cocerned if he's NOT like that because that holds the implication that medic has NOT slept and he MAY OR MAY NOT pass out in the hallway in about an hour

with engie, he has the tendency to get super absorbed in his work and doesn't notice what time it is until AFTER he's finished with whatever he's working on or if someone bothers him while he's working. this can be any time from 9 pm to 3 am, depending on the project and how intent he is on finishing. he really does try though; he does have an alarm set for around 10:30 to remind him that he should probably go and brush his teeth, but sometimes either whatever he's working on is louder than the alarm itself and he just Doesn't hear it OR he hears it, turns it off because he's just gonna finish this one small thing, and then proceeds to find 8 other things he needs to adjust and before he knows it it's past 12. whoops.

in addition to that he.. may or may not get nightmares. a lot. most of them aren't really that bad and he can usually go back to bed after that but some of them shake him up pretty badly and anything he can do to avoid having those, even if it's not going to sleep in the first place, is preferable in his opinion.

the two of them are acustomed to being the only two awake that late most nights. sometimes they're together. sometimes not. sometimes, if engie one of them remembers that they should probably head to bed, they'll poke in and see how the other is doing. other times, if medic's brain is going especially haywire or if engie has one of those particularly bad nightmares, they'll stay up together and just do whatever until everyone else is awake. i mean hey, men of science (and best/boy friends ofc) have to look for each other too.

I continued looking around on the darknet until I heard a knock at the door. I slowly closed my laptop and made my way up from my desk. I walked over to the door and cautiously opened it. Through the crack, I could see Captain Rogers. I extended the door fully and motioned for him to come in. Captain Rogers looked around for a second before turning his view back to me.

“So what do you think?”

“It’s all very nice.”

“You a bit overwhelmed?” I stood in silence. We weren't supposed to show any emotions that would count us as weak. We had to be seen as stable people who could not be brought down. “It’s okay to admit it. When I first got back to New York City after my accident, everything had changed. The world was overwhelming, and honestly, for a moment I didn't know if I was going to survive.” I couldn't help but let out a laugh. As soon as I did, I was quick to cover my mouth.

“I’m sorry Captain Rogers. It’s just we learned about you at the academy, and well, you don't seem like the type to be intimidated by this sort of change.”

“Everyone has there moments (y/n). I’m sure you do too.” I looked back down at my feet. I hated admitting I had fears. Captain Rogers cleared his throat, and I turned my attention back towards him.
 “Well, we were just getting ready to make dinner. We thought it would be a good chance for you to meet everyone and really connect with the team. If you want to?” I sat down at the edge of my bed and looked back up at Captain Rogers.

“At the academy, I didn't have friends; I didn't really socialize unless it was for practice. I want to get to know you all, but I don't want to fake it.”

“Well if you're up for it you can come with me and you can pretend this is practice. Just think of this as a class at the academy, except the only bad thing that can happen is you get tomato sauce on your shirt.” I couldn't help but smile at the joke. He was right. What did I have to lose? I could either stay in my room for all my time here, or I could make the best of my opportunity. I stood up and began to follow Captain Rogers who smiled at me. Before we were out of the room, he turned around to face me.

“You might want to change shirts though. Pasta and white shirts don't get along well.” I grinned knowing that I wouldn't spill a thing on my shirt. At the academy, we weren't just taught how to kill people. We were required to take multiple cooking classes. But I grabbed a sweatshirt from the closet and quickly changed in the bathroom. It felt bizarre to have something so lose forming on my body. I stared in the mirror for a moment before heading back out into the room and following Captain Rogers to the kitchen.

Once downstairs I saw all the Avengers in the kitchen. I couldn't believe that they could all fit, but then again it was a huge kitchen. Mr. Stark, Natasha, Clint Barton, Dr. Banner, Thor, Sam Wilison, James Barnes, Wanda Maximoff, Vision, James Rhodes, and Peter Parker. I took a deep breath before following Captain Rogers into the kitchen. This was a new battlefield for me, something I was never really prepared for. Walking into a social setting with a group of the worlds most famous heroes.

Everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. Some were working on making the pasta others were slicing and dicing. When I finally made my way into the kitchen, everything seemed to stop. For a split second all eyes were on me. Everyone smiled at me before returning to their kitchen duties. I stood aimlessly in the kitchen before Wanda tapped my shoulder, I spun around and was greeted be her smiling face.

“It’s very nice to meet you (y/n) I have only heard great things about you.” I gave her a small grin, not exposing my teeth. “Peter and I are in charge of the sauce if you would like to help. It’s tough to mess-up.” I followed Wanda over to where she and Peter had been working. Peter also gave me a smile before going back to cutting the tomatoes. What was up with everyone smiling? These people certainly couldn't be this happy all the time.

Wanada passed me a knife and a few tomatoes. Within 30 seconds I cut all my tomatoes and tossed them in the pot. Wanda looked over at me and seemed to be impressed. Little did she know I had taken so many cooking classes that I could prepare this whole meal by myself in no time. But I stayed quiet and continued to cut whatever she put my way.

As we worked, I listened in on the different conversations going around. Mr. Stark and Dr. Banner were discussing some of the new technology Mr. Stark had developed. Vision and Natasha were fighting over the amount of flour for the pasta. Vision said to stick with the recipe, Natasha told him she knew what she was doing. Captain Rogers and Mr. Barnes were listening to Mr. Wilison's and Mr. Barton's song choices. Thor and Mr. Rhodes seemed to be keeping quiet while everyone else worked. And Wanda and Peter were discussing some tv show that apparently had been on a few nights ago that they both watch. While I was listening to other conversations, I heard someone call my name

“(Y/n)?” I turned my head and saw Peter looking at me.

“Yes?”

“Do you have a favorite tv show.” I stood their awkwardly. We were only allowed to watch a few tv shows of every genre, so if asked this question we would be prepared. I stood awkwardly before replying.

“I guess it depends what genre we are talking about.”

“Comedy.” I quickly remembered the comedy I had watched

“Friends.” Wanda face lit up with excitement.

“I love that show. We will have to watch it together.” I smiled and nodded. For practicing social situation, I felt so unprepared.

After fixing dinner, we all sat down at the long table and began to eat. As I ate my food, I would occasionally glance around the table, and again everyone was looking at me. Everyone was getting into the conversation except for me. People were talking about past mission that they worked on together laughing about some of the idiotic things people would do in response to having to fight the Avengers. I was in the middle of the bite when Vision turned to ask me a question

“Miss (y/n) I must ask. What was it like at the academy, I've heard some negative comments about it?” I stopped eating and put down my fork. Everyone was glaring at Vision but also looked at me with concern. I didn't know what they expected me to say or how much they knew about it. I didn't want to be fake, not anymore, but personally, I wasn't a confident person. I didn’t like to share; I didn't like to discuss private things. I took a deep breath and pretended this was just work. That this was my first job, I had been given.

“The academy is well the academy. You learn the things that most children would never learn. You learn to read, speak, and write in five languages, I know ten. You study fine art, music, movies, tv shows. It's our jobs to be knowledgeable in society during jobs. If you don't know the latest tv shows or understand Netflix, you won't get far. I took a lot of science and math classes. We have our cooking classes, art classes. Its kind of like college but you take all the courses, and you are so much younger. You have to be ready for any job given when you leave the academy. This could mean going from a chemist at a lab, to being a librarian. You never know.” I stopped talking for a moment and looked for reactions. Most everyone seemed to be very understanding. I turned to Natasha who gave me a smile and a nod. Although the red room is ten times harder, I figured she would understand what I was going through. I took a deep breath before speaking again. “I know this all probably seems weird to you. Having to take in this girl from a place that raises assassins with no true agenda besides receiving money, and giving away their work. But we weren't raised on sides there. Some of us go on to work lives of good; others work for the opposite. But I want you all to know that I’m in this for the long run. I want to help. I want to use my skills and powers for something else. Something good.” Mr. Stark and Dr. Banner looked at each other and then back to me. Mr. Stark sat down his cup and cleared his throat.

“You said skills and powers am I correct?”

“Yes, sir.”

“What powers?” I was in shock. How could they know where I was and who I was but not know that I had powers?

“At the academy, the top of the class is genetically modified. This has been going on for about a few years now. I'm the fifth to be changed.” Now Dr. Banner spoke to you.

“What exactly are your powers?”

“I can shapeshift objects. for example.” I took the final swig of my water and sat the glass cup down on the table. I focused my energy on it. Under the table, I moved my hand every so slightly, and the cup turned into a tiny glass box. I waited a moment before changing the box back into a cup. Everyone just stared. They tried their best to contain the pure shock, but you didn't care. It was something apart of you now, and you were pretty sure there was no going back to how you were before.

Mr. Stark and Dr. Banner sat up immediately from their seats. Mr. Stark motioned with his hand for me to stand. I followed the two out of the kitchen and into the elevator.

“Where are we going?”

“Going to the lab. We need to get some tests done immediately.” You sighed knowing there would be more needles and blood involved than you'd like, but if it meant being a part of the team, you would do anything at this point. A little blood and pain wouldn't stop you.

HOW TO STUDY WHEN YOU HAVE, LIKE, ZERO SPOONS LEFT

I’ve gotten dressed, driven to work, worked for 8 hours, attended class (twice a week), and driven myself home. With drive time and class time included, my typical day is 10-12+ hours. I don’t know about you, but at this point in my day I have maybe one or two spoons left (one spoon equaling one completed task).

I have an autoimmune disease that leaves me exhausted and has basically destroyed my immune system. I’ve been sick six times (for more than a week each time) over the last six months. I work full time and I go to school full time. 

How do I function and still get A’s?

1. get the sleep you need

I need 9+ hours a night to fully function. That means I’m in bed by 10:30 latest. My fitbit app reminds me to start winding down around 10:00 PM - which I don’t always appreciate, but alas. I have to wake up by 8 AM at the latest, and I typically take about 20 minutes to fall asleep, so 10:30 is my sweet spot. 

2. throw away the caffeinated drinks - choose water

Soda, coffee, caffeinated drinks, and energy drinks might give you a tiny boost in the short run, but in the long run you’re ruining your sleep schedule and throwing your body way out of whack. Our bodies aren’t meant to consume caffeine (especially not in the quantities contained in the aforementioned beverages). Choose water instead. Your body is about 80% water, and it is essential to be properly hydrated. The more hydrated you are, the more you can maximize your spoons. 

The average human needs between 35-70 ounces of water. That’s roughly four 16 oz water bottles a day. Space them out. Drink one in the morning, one with lunch, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening. Before you know it, you’ve got your water in. If you’re going through caffeine withdrawal, try nibbling on some dark chocolate. Chocolate is a natural source of caffeine and it’s delicious - just don’t eat too much :)

3. baby steps

I don’t recommend trying to do all of your homework at once. I’ve found I can trick my body into doing homework at lunch if I switch straight from working to studying. I turn on some relaxing music and do one assignment every day at lunch. This might not work if you have found you can’t get through the rest of your day without a break between your working hours. It also may be impractical depending on where you work.

When I get home, I typically take some time to relax and then I do one more assignment before the evening is up.

Crunch time is reserved for the weekends. I space out my study sessions into one hour of studying and then two hours of free time. My free time might be used to throw in a load of laundry and then nap for a bit or I might just mess around online depending on the day. 

4. don’t beat yourself up

Didn’t drink all your water? That’s okay, just try again tomorrow. Didn’t get enough sleep? Try to get a nap in or go to sleep extra early to compensate. Gave into sugar cravings? We all need a little sweet stuff every now and then. Didn’t study at all today? Don’t panic. You can probably try to make it up in bits and pieces over the rest of the week. Didn’t do any of your assignments at all this week? Email your professor and explain your situation. Professors can be more understanding than you’d think especially if you have a medically documented illness or disability (I failed my first year of college because of my autoimmune disease and wasn’t going to be able to get financial aid because I hadn’t met my Satisfactory Academic Progress GPA. I reached out to the school and asked if there was anything that could be done. I spoke to someone who was able to help me get a medical waiver and I got financial aid. I turned it around my second year and every year since because I was given that second chance). Failed your first year? Or second year? Or multiple years? It sucks that that time and money is gone, but it isn’t the end of the world. Some schools don’t take your previous GPA into account when computing your GPA for the degree you receive at their school. Look into transferring. Try taking one class a semester. Ask for extra help. Emails are your best friend - I know that making trips to campus and getting dressed up to go to a special appointment takes up a lot of spoons for me because I also deal with anxiety, so I stick to emails as much as possible and only attempt trips on campus when I’m having a higher-spoon day. 

I failed senior year of high school. I failed my first year of college at a University across the country and moved home to attend community college. I thought it was the end of the world. I thought I had disappointed my mother and everyone else. I knew I had disappointed myself. 

I took two classes my first semester in community college (as opposed to taking five classes my first semester at University). At the end of the semester, I had a 4.0 GPA. I’ve taken one or two classes each semester ever since and three years later, I have a 3.6 GPA and I’m set to obtain my Associates in Business Administration AND my Associates in Science by the end of 2018. It’s still hard and some days (weeks - heck, semesters) still suck, but I’m gentle with my body. I work with my disease instead of trying to pretend it doesn’t exist (which is what I did my first year at Uni and which is exactly why I failed every single class).

Nine rocks the seat, Alannah’s clinging for her life and screaming like an infuriated banshee, and eventually she throws up on him. He never does it again.

They’re new parents, so it’s more like when do they both have energy and no interruptions.

Shared showers are kind of a staple of their relationship, so one doesn’t really have to push the other one into it, it’s just something they do often. What kind of shower it is mostly just depends on what kind of day they’ve had. They’ve both been instigators of soapy sexy time, but Alannah particularly enjoys scrubbing Nine’s back.

4) Who likes to walk around the house naked and who tells the other to go put some clothes on?

Nine will walk around in all nature’s glory if he’s not in his workshop, Alannah just pinches the bridge of her nose and is like yes that is a nice sight but the blinds are open can you please not tempt the neighbors.

5) Who sleeps on the couch when they get into a fight?

Nine, but halfway through the night he’ll move back to the bed because like hell is he going to screw up his back because of some dumb argument. Five minutes later she’s cuddling him like a koala, so he knows she’s over it too.

Lannah, probably.

7) Who said “I love you” first? and who ends their arguments in a fight with “Because I love you”?

Nine said it first. Alannah took a long time because she was afraid to say it, though she was the one who took the first steps toward their relationship. Nine’s more likely to end an argument with “because I love you” because sometimes she needs it drilled into her head.  

8) Who likes to wear the others sweatshirts?

Alannah is 100% guilty of “borrowing” just about every article of clothing Nine owns.

9) Who wakes the other up in the middle of the night to tell them a cool dream they had? Who has the most nightmares, and who sings them back to sleep after?

Both. Sometimes Alannah will have a research breakthrough in her dreams, she’ll shoot straight up and start muttering to herself, then falls back asleep as she’s leaning over to reach for her glasses. Nine will sometimes wake up to sketch some plans for his latest project or he’ll wake her up to tell her about an idea he’s just had and asks her to remind him in the morning. They both have awful nightmares, and they’ve developed what are probably not the healthiest mutual coping mechanisms, but a lot of times it involves fucking each other back to sleep.

10) Who is more likely to cheat?

Neither. It’s not something that either of them ever worry about, because there’s nobody else who could ever understand what they’d been through together besides each other. Alannah still carries around some insecurities, comparing herself to older, more beautiful, experienced women, but Nine shuts that nonsense down like it’s a game of whack-a-mole.

Nine makes fun of Lannah for her reaction to him shirtless, which always turns her face a most becoming shade of pink, and her response to that is usually a mumbled, “we’re married, I’m allowed to stare.”

Alannah is the notorious food fight starter.

Neither. Alannah can’t sing to save her life and Nine is just like “no.”

I can’t really see either one of them doing this, though Alannah probably absentmindedly scribbles her new married name all over her notes.

Alannah on both counts, though she’s absolutely ridiculous when she’s drunk and ‘seductive’ is perhaps not the right word. Oh she tries, but it’s mostly just hilarious.

17) Who is more protective?

Alannah, because she still carries guilt over his death and she blames herself for not being able to save him. Anyone that tries to lay a hand on him now is probably not going to have a good time.

18) Who talks to the other while they are sleeping?

Nine. Alannah’s more likely to get caught up in her thoughts and watch him sleep while she’s thinking.

19) Who drives and who has the window seat?

In a universe with cars, Nine would drive. Not only because he’d probably be a car junkie and mechanic, but because Alannah’s driving skills would leave a lot to be desired.

20) Who falls asleep in the others lap and who carries them to bed?

Nine will fall asleep with his head in Alannah’s lap while she’s reading, but he’s too heavy for her so she’ll kiss him awake and he’ll toss her over his shoulder and carry her to bed.

21) Who cuts the others hair?

Alannah hasn’t had a haircut in years, but she does trim Nine’s hair when it gets too long. Which is probably why it’s never the same length on any given side.

22) Who is super bad at sexting? and who sends them encouraging messages throughout the day?

Alannah on the first count, Nine on the second. Mostly because Alannah will get completely caught up in her research and forget that the rest of the world exists, so he’ll just flood her linkpearl until she finally answers. She does the same to him whenever he’s been in his workshop for too long.

23) Who thinks they are not good enough for the others love? and who’s more afraid of loosing the other? Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry?

Alannah’s insecurity isn’t “I’m not good enough for you,” it’s “You died and I couldn’t do anything, and then I fucked up your life when I brought you back.” She carries a lot of heavy guilt for that, and it’s especially bad on the nights where she has nightmares. She is afraid of losing him, but to death, not to an end of the relationship. Thankfully, Nine is patient with her, not only because he loves her, but because he’s done things to her that he feels terribly guilty for too.

24) Who starts random slow dancing with the other in the kitchen? Who holds the other just above the ground and kisses them?

On nights when Aislinn actually goes to sleep when they put her to bed, they’ll turn the lights down low in the kitchen and turn on the orchestrion. Alannah will pull him into a sway dance while she cooks, and Nine does the lifting.

25) Who says shitty puns and sex jokes just to see the other giggle and blush?

Alannah brings the puns, Nine supplies the terrible sex jokes.

26) Who kissed first?

Alannah kissed him first.

27) Who orders take out at two in a morning? and who wakes the other up at three in the morning to go downstairs with them to get a glass of water because it’s too dark?

Nine will order food at ungodly hours when he’s working late in the workshop, Alannah will wake him up to get her a glass of water because she’s as blind as a mole in the dark, even with her glasses and things are less likely to get broken if he just gets a drink for her.

28) Who writes poems/stories and love songs about the other? Do they sing the songs the write for them?

Neither. They prefer to express their affection physically rather than with words.

29) Who does some crazy stunt to try and impress the other and who ends up driving them to the emergency room after it backfires?

“Hey lannah, watch this.”

Alannah drives.

30) Who is embarrassed when they have to wear their glasses and who thinks they look super cute?

Alannah has sought out several methods to correct her vision that don’t involve glasses, but wears them distinctly more often after Nine tells her he likes them on her.

how do you schedule your day? What's a typical day like for you, and what's an ideal day like for you?

Hi there! I’m currently on summer break, and work is unfortunately pretty part-time right now, so things are pretty loosey-goosey right now. I’m working on getting up earlier, and going to bed earlier, as I’m finding running in the evening makes it difficult to get in bed by 11, which is my ideal for now. I have 8:30s five days a week next semester, so I need to get my sleep schedule solid before then!

A lot depends on whether or not I’m working that day. If I am, I typically start pretty late (10/11) so I don’t need to be out of the house till 20 minutes before my shift starts, but I’m trying to be up by 8 or 9, so I have plenty of time to get ready. I eat a big breakfast, make sure I have food packed for anything over 5 hours, and am out the door. Typically I’m home by 5:30 at the latest, so if I’m planning on running, I’ll probably grab a snack and head out in 45 mins or so, or if I’m not, I’ll make dinner, clean up, and relax if I’m not going out with friends, or for tunes. I try to start winding down by 9:30/10, and I’m really trying to get less screen time, so I’ll usually do yoga or read before bed.

If I’m not working, things are pretty open. I usually try to run early-ish (but I try not to between 9:30-11 because the soup kitchen next to my building has a lot of traffic for brunch, and I feel weird being out and about in just a sports bra during that time, so if I miss that window, I may opt to go out in the evening instead), catch up on reading, play tunes, meet up with my friends, etc. 

I’ll be a full-time student in September, so things are about to get a lot more regimented! Last semester I had class Tues/Thurs, and worked Monday, Saturday, and occasionally Wednesdays, so basically I studied a lot during the evening when I was working, and morning/afternoon around my class. I’m really excited to have a routine again!

In terms of ideal day, for right now, I really miss getting up early (6-ish), going for a run, then coming back to a cup of coffee and a book. I like having time to do things like read, knit, and eat meals at a normal time, which doesn’t happen when I’m working. Any day that involves a session is a good one, in my books, so that’s probably where I’d want to be for the night, then come home and be in bed by a reasonable time.

My Latest Mission... pt.11

The chill night air fill my lungs when I take in a deep breath. It's so quiet up here, no sounds coming from the city beneath us and all the lights from cars, buildings and street lamps makes the scenery before me almost fairytale-like. I've started to come up here when my nights are bad and the terror fills my mind. Up here I feel free.

Tonight is one of those bad nights, I can't shake the feeling of being in danger. I know I'm not, but ever since my time in Hydra I've always been on high alert, you know... Since I never knew when they would come for me, beat me, hurt me... Tonight my room felt too small, and the walls seemed to close in on me, imprisoning me. Even though I know it's all in my head, I can't seem to find the will to fight the feelings today, so I went to the roof to find some peace for myself. It's a cold evening, but I don't really care. The serum in my blood makes me run hot and I don't really feel the cold anymore. Sometimes I miss it, but most times I don't even think about it. I take another deep breath, calming the inner chaos in my head. But as I let the air slowly out of my lungs again, I feel a presence close to me. Every fiber in my body jerks awake and in less than a second I'm ready to fight for my life. "What are you doing up here, Kid?" the low voice of Clint reaches me from only a few meters apart. He is the only one I've ever known, that can move so silent that he can come almost all the way up to me, without I'm noticing. "SHIT! CLINT!" I jump when he talks and I glare at him "haven't we discussed that sneaking up on a super soldier and scaring the crap out of her is a bad idea?" I huff out the words as I try to calm my heart again. I'm not one to get scared, people don't usually have the ability to get the chance to do so. But Clint does, and he has taken every chance he got ever since he found out. He chuckles a bit, clearly enjoying the moment. And just for a second I think of dangling him over the edge of the tower, just for a second, to get back at him. But the joyful smile and the humor in his eyes makes me decide against it. Apparently I have a soft spot for the archer. He sits next to me and take in the view of the city before he speaks again "Nightmares?" he looks at me with soft eyes "You know you can talk to me, kid" "It makes no sense for you to call me Kid... You know that right?" I give him a half smile "I'm way older than you" He leans back on his hands and takes a deep breath with that amused smirk on his lips. "I know... But I like it, do deal with it, kid!" I giggle a bit as I shake my head and he continues "But seriously y/n, what's up. Are you okay?" I pull my knees up, put my arms around them and put my chin on top. My eyes search the distance without really looking for anything. "Yeah, I'll be okay. It's just one of those nights you know... I can't shake the feeling that HYDRA will suddenly be here to take me back. My room felt like a prison cell and I couldn't calm my thoughts enough to get rid of the feelings. I know it's stupid, I know I'm safe here... " My voice trails off, not knowing what else to say to explain. Clint doesn't say anything to begin with, it's almost as if he is trying to imagine what I'm going through. But then the sits back up and look at me, his calming blue eyes explore my face. "You know... I would be deeply concerned if you didn't feel that way, kid. The things you have been through, the fear, the pain and the torture. And you went through it all alone, you didn't have anyone to depend on... That just gotta mess with your head one way or another" He reaches out and gives my arm a gentle squeeze. "It's alright to struggle with inner demons, just don't keep it to yourself. All of us have been there in one way or another, so I speak of experience when I tell you to open up about it. Hell, even Bucky has started to open up, and heactually begins to seem quite human" Clint laughs at his last remark, but it only makes me groan and hide my face between my knees. After the fight I had with Bucky, things has in some ways lightened up, and in others made everything worse. It feels like Bucky tries, he doesn't leave the room as soon as he sees me anymore, he even asked me to pass the salt one time in the kitchen, so yeah, that's progress... Baby steps, as Steve says, is better than nothing. I've also grown much closer to Clint, even though, I believe that that has something to do with him finding it hilarious, that I beat up Bucky... I think he kind of forgets that Bucky beat me up too. In general the rumors about the fight has traveled around to everyone, Avengers, staff, S.H.I.E.L.D agents, including agents that does not even live in the tower. Everybody knows, and everybody has made an opinion about me from that. Some good, but a lot of bad too... "Hey, cheer up, kid. I know he's your friend... He'll come around, I promise" Clint seem to read me like an open book sometimes. It's a little freaky when he does that, but it also makes everything so much easier when being around him. "How can you promise me that?" I look up at him again, meeting his blue eyes and soft caring smile. "He just needs a reason to trust you again. You know, to feel and experience that you are there for him, like you always been. He loves you y/n... He loves you, and that scares the shit out of him, 'cause you hold the power to destroy him completely if he chooses to trust you, and you in return turn out untrustworthy. Do you know what I mean?" The sassy archer with a joke for every opportunity looks at me with such seriousness in his expression, that I cannot do anything than to trust him. I give him a tired smile and stretch my legs in front of me. " You know... I like this clever and wise Clint, maybe you should let him out more". The deep low laughter that erupts from the man by my side, lifts my mood tremendously.

Another day another boredom... I'm starting to be a bit restless in this huge tower of Tony's. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the action, I miss to have a purpose. NOT the killing purpose and the beating innocent people up and stuff... That's a part of don't want back! But I see the gang go out on meaningful missions, I see them do good things, and I want that too. Tony and Steve have put me in training, so one day I can hopefully join them... But there are still a lot there needs to be done before I can go. This means I'm alone again, as Steve and some of the others are yet again away. Bucky is somewhere around, but not with me... shocker!

He's probably with Sam, neither of them had to go on tis mission, so I guess they are somewhere doing their own stuff. I throw the book to the other end of the bed. God, I can't even concentrate on reading a damn book. I've been trying watching TV, but as fun as it is, my head just can't keep up in the long run. I've hit the gym for a few hours and now I've read a book... Well, tried to read a book. I get up and walk to the big window. It's become one of my favorite places in the whole tower, my bedroom window. I feel like I can see the entire world from here, and I love it! But today I just stare frustrated out, and wish I could be part of that world. I lean in, rest my forehead on the cold glass and look down towards the gate where Brett is working. Why doesn't the gate close? It's been open for almost an entire minute now, and there are no cars in sight... Normally it closes as soon as a car has gone through. I straighten up and look closer... Is that? Is that Brett on the ground?! My heart starts to pound like crazy, and my head spins for a second. I trail the road leading up to the tower with my eyes, and when my eyes stop at the bottom of the tower, my eyes go wide and adrenaline kicks in. The guard that's normally standing by the door. is lying on the pavement, 30 feet from it. Blood is very clearly surrounding his head running down the hill. What the hell? My feet moves before my mind catch up on what I just saw. I run as fast as I can towards Bucky's room, praying that his in there, but before I even reach the door I hear gunshots and men screaming and yelling commandos from the living area. "F.R.I.D.A.Y, what's going on?" I yell out as I run the other way as fast as I can. There's no answer.... The ever present A.I is suddenly silent.

Something is definitely wrong! As I turn the corner I literally run into a man I don't know. But as we both regain our balance he raises a semi automatic rifle toward me. Well, I guess a said I missed the action... Now here it is! In a swift motion I raise my leg and kick the rifle to the right, the sudden hit causes the man to pull the trigger and the bullets spilling out of the gun, leaves a long line of holes in the wall beside us. I step forward, grab a hold of the man's shoulders, yank him downwards and knee him right in the face. As he tries to regain his aim on me, I grab he rifle by the barrel, jerk it out of his hand and swing it full force to the side of his head. The man's eyes turn white and he falls to the floor, hard. I look at the rifle, and see that it's bent... Great, that's not going to help me now. Apparently super strength isn't always a good thing, I think grimly to myself as I start to run toward the living area again. Something is going on down there. Just before I reach the door, I stop, look back and send Tony a silent thank you. Even with all of his fancy gadgets and artificial intelligence robot things, he's still old fashioned in some ways. In a case on the wall is a fire extinguisher and beside it, the thing that caught my eye... A huge fucking axe! At least I'm not going in unarmed. I stop just outside the door and listen, trying to figure out just how many intruders there are. "This has been far too easy, I thought you guys were the mighty Avengers, unstoppable and strong... And yet here we are, taking over your tower like it was made of Lego. You are pathetic!" The sound of someone hitting someone else, followed by a humorless laughter reaches me, and my blood freeze.... That voice belongs to Brock! Anger rises in me, and I adjust my grip on the axe before I step into the room and take in the sight before me. Sam is on the floor, unconscious with blood on his face. I try to detect a rise and fall off his body as he breathes, but the angle he is in makes it impossible. I pray to whoever is out there, that he is still alive. A few feet from Sam is 3 agents with HYDRA emblems on their uniforms and besides them is Bucky on his knees, hands locked in a device that's made to contain him. I know these 'cuffs' I've been in them too... Brock is holding a gun to Bucky's head, and an evil smile is on his lips. "Rumlow!" I roar, catching the attention of all the men in the room. "Well, well, well... There you are! I thought you were hiding from me, sweetheart..." Brocks eyes light up with something I can't really describe, other than absolutely bat shit craziness. "I've missed you so much. Been looking everywhere, trying to find you... And then, here you are, hiding with your old friends the entire time" Bucky looks from Brock to me, catching my eyes. "Let him go!" I command, but it only makes Rumlow laugh more. He acts like he has lost the last trace of sanity, since the day I left him in the park. I can only imagine what they have done to him as punishment for letting me slip away. "I'm afraid I can't do that, babe... You should know, it was your job to bring him back to us!"

The way he says the pet names, makes a shiver run down my spine. Bucky stare at me, like he can't quite figure out what to think. I can see the anger radiate from him, but I can't read if it's ment for me or for Brock. "Get up, Soldier!" he commands and yank in Bucky's arm "It's time to go!" "I told you to release him, you bastard!" I shout and take a step toward them with the axe raised. The agents beside Sam moves closer to me with their raised guns, but Brock yell "Stop! We need her alive too!" The agents step back, but don't lower their weapons. I look at Bucky, search his eyes and hope he understand what I'm trying communicate without words. "Trust me?!" I ask quietly. He looks me directly in the eyes, and for the first time since we met again, I see some of the old Bucky there. "What?" he asks. "Can you trust me?" the question hangs thick in the air. And then, there he is... my Bucky. He looks at me, nods and say "Yes, do it!" as he raises his hands high over his head and I do the same with the axe firmly in my grasp. Before Rumlow even reacts, I throw the axe at Bucky, with all the force I have in my body. As soon as the axe is out of my hands I throw myself at the nearest agent, taking them all by surprise. The sound of metal hitting metal is loud and cuts into the ears, but my God, it is a good sound, because the second the axe hits, Bucky is free. The metal plates in his arm shift as he fists his hand and readies for a fight. 2 super soldiers to 4 men is a fair fight... For the super soldiers.

And before long they are all knocked out on the floor. When the last agent hits the ground, both Bucky and I rush to Sam and turn him over. He has a nasty gash over his eye that bleeds a lot, but he is still breathing, thank God! "Sam... Sam!" I call out and shake him gently. "Come on bird-brain, wake up!" Bucky slaps Sam on the cheek, which makes him groan a bit as he tries to open his eyes. When he finally does look up at us, he says gruff "That's about damn time you too started to work together!" before he shuts his eyes tight and let's his head fall back to the floor with a groan.
