Lizzie's gives concrete help for anxiety - I skimmed it, and there's grounding techniques and breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques all presented in a way that kids can understand (which I appreciate - I may actually get a copy for a friend, tbh) - and Kathryn's is just. It's Kathryn giving affirmations and I expect the audiobook is going to make me cry because it's just. I can't. It's beautiful.

The art in both are SUPER gorgeous - Lizzie's is bigger because it's a picture book, Kathryn's is almost pocket-sized because it's a board book (it was originally printed as a picture book, and those are still available some places, but the content should be roughly the same, just smaller pictures).

And! Barnes and Noble also has the audiobook versions for download if you would rather support them than Amazon. It's a bit more expensive ($7 + $5 for a $12 total before tax vs. $4.5 + $6 for a $10.5 total before tax - idk why Kathryn's is so much more from B&N than it is on Amazon, but there it is), but like - not THAT much more?

BUT YEAH TL;DR GORGEOUS BOOKS LOOKS LIKE A GOOD TIME LOOKING FORWARD TO THE AUDIO RECORDINGS.

OH ALSO YOU CAN MAYBE GET THEM FREE IF YOU'RE SUBSCRIBED TO EITHER ONE'S AUDIOBOOK STUFF! But idk how that works because I'm not planning on doing that.

I love Matilda because it's a story about a child who sees injustice around her and gets mad about it and questions why things aren't fair, and instead of the ending being that she learns how the world works and that life isn't fair, she catapults one of the adults who abused her out of a building with her mind

My solution for bloatware is this: by law you should hire in every programming team someone who is Like, A Guy who has a crappy laptop with 4GB and an integrated graphics card, no scratch that, 2 GB of RAM, and a rural internet connection. And every time someone in your team proposes to add shit like NPCs with visible pores or ray tracing or all the bloatware that Windows, Adobe, etc. are doing now, they have to come back and try your project in the Guy's laptop and answer to him. He is allowed to insult you and humilliate you if it doesn't work in his laptop, and you should by law apologize and optimize it for him. If you try to put any kind of DRM or permanent internet connection, he is legally allowed to shoot you.

With about 5 or 10 years of that, we will fix the world.

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.

Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)
