HOW TO INTERACT WITH WRITERS AND ARTISTS: A GUIDE
Hello! We all know that there is a steady decline in interactions and reblogs in fandom and I think a lot of new readers are very nervous to interact with artists on here. So as a somewhat seasoned Tumblr user, I figured I’d make a little guide for those who might feel they need it. :D
Disclaimer: This is by no means a rulebook or a demand. I am not forcing you to do any of these things. This is simply meant to be helpful towards those who might be new to the app or are nervous about interacting with people. Also: Since I write fanfiction, most of these examples are gonna be rooted in fanfiction. However, this can be applied to any other form of art on here as well!
FIRST OF ALL:
Customize your blog. A lot of people think blank blogs are bots. It doesn’t have to be a big thing but go on Pinterest, and find a cute profile pic. Choose a cool colour. Give your blog some personality.
It is completely fine and normal to want to remain anonymous on here. If you want you can choose a cool pseudonym (Alba is not my real name and I know for a fact that most of my mutuals’ “names” are pseudonyms.) but your blog can also just remain nameless.
If you are going to interact with NSFW fics and art I highly recommend putting your age in your bio. A lot of NSFW artists are not comfortable interacting with minors and ageless blogs and will block you if you don’t have your age somewhere.
It’s important to remember that writers and artists love interactions! We are here because we love a certain media and want to talk about it.
Secondly, Tumblr is not Instagram or TikTok. There are no “tumblr influencers”. Most of us are just normal people who do this as a hobby.
While it’s completely okay and normal to look up to someone or admire someone’s work, try not to put people on pedestals.
Lastly, fan fiction and art do not have a time limit. It doesn’t matter if it was posted yesterday, a year ago or ten years ago. It cannot expire. The love you feel for it now is just as valid as the love someone felt for it ten years ago. So please do not hesitate to interact with art just because it was posted a while ago.
THE BIG NO-NO’S:
“Part two?” It’s fair that you’re excited about a fic and want to read more, but simply just asking for part two without saying anything else can make a writer feel bad. We are not robots or content machines.
“X is stupid” “Your characterization is bad” “X wouldn’t do this” It’s okay to not like someone’s fic or art but commenting that it is bad or that you don’t agree is not okay. If you don’t like a fic you click off. If you don’t like someone’s takes or posts, you block them. You are responsible for curating your own online experience. Block what annoys you and move on.
Hate anons. I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this, but people still do it so I’m gonna say it anyway. Don’t send hate anon to people’s inboxes.
Don’t demand things. “When is the next part coming out?” “You promised you’d post” etc. Life happens. Most of us have school or jobs or both.
Use Character AI, Chatbot, etc. Do not use AI. Do not put other people’s art into AI machines without their permission or knowledge. AI steals people’s writing and art. Do not use it to finish unfinished fics for you, do not use it to get a part two, do not use it.
Do not repost* art without permission. Do not repost art on other platforms. Do not post people’s fics on Wattpad or other platforms without permission. Do not post artists’ art on Pinterest or TikTok without permission. Do not translate writers’ fics without permission.
*Note: reposts and reblogs are not the same. A reblog is when you press the 🔁 button at the bottom of a post. This is encouraged. Reposts are when you make your own post with the stolen art.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Reblogs. Reblogs, reblogs, reblogs. Reblogs. I cannot stress this enough. Tumblr’ algorithm sucks and sometimes posts don’t show up in tags. When you reblog someone's art you help more people see it!
Also, reblogs do not only help the artist but it also helps you! You can create a tag system on your account so you easily can find works you liked again. It’s much easier to find reblogged works than it is to go through your 300 liked posts. (Also if an artist deactivates you will still have the post instead of it disappearing.)
Comment on people’s art! Tell them what you liked! I promise you it will make their day!
Ask questions! Did you notice a specific choice the artist made that you found interesting? Is there something that intrigued you or you want to know more about?
BUT I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY?
It’s important to remember that your support does not have to be some profound intellectual conversation. This is Tumblr, we’re all just having fun.
“I loved this!” “Your writing is amazing!” “This art is so pretty!” “The way you draw/characterize X character is cool!”
What did the art make you feel? “This made me happy” “This made me sad” Your emotions about the piece do not have to be positive. If someone wrote a 6k fic about the SatoSugu breakup then their goal probably wasn’t to make you feel joyous. Tell them how you feel! It will make them happy to know that their art evoked emotions in you.
Predictions! Did you catch some foreshadowing? What do you think happens in the next chapter? It's super fun as a writer to read what people think is going to happen!

Yuuup, that’s pretty much the same thing as what we see in the PV… 😅 Same shapes, same pattern order, everything.

Upon further research, it seems this isn’t even the first instance of this stock asset being used by Disney. It was also used for a limited edition Sally-inspired perfume called Rag Doll. I believe it was sold at Hot Topic back in 2013:

It’s a little saddening seeing TWST use stock images instead of like… you know, new assets 💦 This is following a somewhat disappointing trend of TWST animated PVs going down in quality and budget, especially over the years. For example, for the anniversaries:
2021 - 2 minutes long; all students included in highly individualized limited event outfits and movement is dynamic.
2022 - 1 minute long; all students and even staff are included but in standard uniforms, noticeable drop in art and animation quality (for example, look at Kalim and Silver in the flight scene). Animation itself is framed like Yuu is taking pictures of everyone—but really, it’s a convenient excuse to hold on static shots of the photos instead of actually animating them.
2023 - 1 minute and ~40 seconds; only the third years in their school uniforms and Grim in ceremonial robes are featured. Animation appears slow and somewhat clunky. And dear god, that weird panning shot of Malleus and Lilia; that Lilia is practically traced from his live 2D model.
2024 - 1 minute and ~10 seconds; basically a glorified slideshow with fancy effects. Only the dorm leaders in their school uniforms are shown.
Then, looking at the Halloweens:
Terror is Trending - 30 seconds; All students included and dorm costumes showcased. Unique shots and framing. Even Ramshackle Ghosts (who are important in the event story) are shown.
Endless Halloween Night - 4 different versions of the same commercial (including different characters doing the voiceover work), each ~30 seconds each; all students featured. Nice lighting, fierce expressions, varied framing.
Glorious Masquerade - 1 minute and 30 seconds. Several static panning shots, but at least the colors are striking when most other things are monochrome or muted. ~20 seconds at the end dedicated to hyping up Rollo.
Stage in Playful Land - ~35 seconds. Only the 3 SSR boys are featured, with most of the animation being in their head tilts. Less than 10 seconds is dedicated to hyping up Fellow and Gidel.
This year’s event… 20 seconds using a stock image and panning up from it to the TWST logo, no new assets.
I DON’T KNOW, maybe I’m overthinking it 😭 I’m definitely not the first person to notice this though… It’s been a point of discussion in my fandom social circles.
But hey, let’s keep our heads high! It’s very possible that we’ll get a more formal animated PV in the weeks leading up to Halloween. In fact, I’m certain of it since this current PV doesn’t show new costumes or the new twisted character, as is tradition. What we see now might just be a bonus material they’re releasing to really get us excited. Plus, we’ll probably also have an ABEMA stream with more Halloween-related news ^^ Let’s look forward to that!

And finally this one I started later the same day as the last pic. Intentions were to make a banner for this blog.
It's got inspirations from both MurderDrones and a Sonic au called hungryhero.exe.
Basically all of the characters have a program in their files, that's meant to help keep the avatar stable, it keeps the physical (digital???) Forms from completely and utterly destabilizing and falling apart if code is damaged, corrupted, or even missing. And Pomni's code has one of these happen to her after getting sick with a virus, the program activated, and it helped fight off the virus, but it didn't go back to being dormant, since her code was damaged in one way or another via the virus.
The program is not able to manually fix the problem keeping it operating, someone else has to manually fix it via opening up the files of Pomni's character/avatar. And replace any missing, corrupted code. The only problem is the way it has to keep the character's form and or code stable, would be to copy and paste code temporarily from other characters who's code isn't damaged, the way this achieved however, is less than ideal for anyone involved. The program will encourage the individual to consume code from others via making them feel hungry, it getting worse the more it's in need of stabilizing.
If the individual does not respond to these signals. The program activates a protocol which causes them to transform into a more animalistic beast dead set on hunting and consuming the code it needs. This transformation can also be triggered by stress, of which the individual will have full self control as if they were never transformed, this self control only dwindles as hunger increases.
When anyone dies in the circus, just like a video game, as tadc is supposed to be one n whatnot, they will respawn in their rooms, however some memory is lost from their death, such as the specifics of said death, but may feel the psychological impact of each death.
The person upon transforming, will have three eyes, the third being the program's, and depending on which eyes are staying open, shows who's in control, if the individual, their normal eyes, if the program, the third eye, if partially both, then both will be actively used.
The size of the beast they become is dependent on how stressed the individual is, it does go up to a limit, the limit being roughly the size or slightly larger than an abstraction.
The individual may appear as if they are abstracting when transforming, or may have certain traits associated with abstracts, like multiple eyes around the body, darkened colors, eyes having multicolored irises or sclera, and an overall more sharp, pointy, jagged form.
It is unclear if individuals with an activated hungry program can abstract, and if they can, what would happen or what they'd be capable of, as the program's prolonged operating after activating is rare as typically it can keep someone's code from being damaged from viruses, glitching, bugs, etc.

𝙈𝙮 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 & 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜
A while back I received this question asking if I'd mind explaining what my creative process is like and some wanted further explanation about what goes into planning multiple generations & arcs. I do apologize that this is so overdue, and it's literally taken me months to get to. My process is always changing, and I'm constantly adding in pieces that help make the process easier. Because of this, the way I answered the question back then is also quite outdated, at least in terms of how I plan each shoot/post, and I'll hopefully provide further clarification below the cut.
However, first and foremost, I want to say I am by no means an expert and different processes work for different people. Your creative process might look totally different than mine, and that's okay! Whatever keeps you coming back and sharing your work is always going to be the best & most efficient way of doing things.
But I do think it's helpful to get insight into what works for others when you have no clue how to plan things like this, or where to even begin. So, without further ado, here is my process.

Mainly, I use a website called Milanote. It's super helpful for organization purposes, and it's mostly free. They have free templates you can use, or you can make your own. The only downside to it is you're limited on the number of "cards" that are available to you. They do have a promo that you can use where if you get someone else to sign up, you get more cards, which is what I did.
My main folder basically looks like this:

The research folder is an unorganized, organized mess and basically just looks like this:

This is where I keep all my resources, and all of the things I've researched for my story. As you can see, this includes various sources like YouTube videos, various articles, quotes, photos and even some music as well. I like having this all in one place so it's easily accessible for me, but you could just easily keep all of this in a Google or Word doc if you're low on 'cards'.

Next we have these two sections. Obviously, I had to cover them up to avoid spoilers but I did label them to hopefully provide insight. Essentially, for this decade in particular, there are going to be various arcs happening at once, especially since the children will be growing into adults and laying their foundation is going to become crucial to the story. However, I'm trying to limit myself from having too much going on at once, which is why I try to limit myself to only four arcs playing out at once.
I will also say that Plot's A through C are interconnected, or at least they will be eventually, while Plot D concerns one of the children and will impact things later down the line. This is super important for really tying different ideas together, and making sure random plots don't seem to just pop up out of the blue.
The table for myself helps a lot with this, so that I can easily see what arcs have been started, and how many 'scenes' each one has. I find this to be useful because then I know that none of the arcs are stretching too long, which ones might need more fine tuning and which ones have yet to flourish or even begin.

Each arc basically has something like this going from beginning to end, essentially following the classic three act structure. Not all of them have five components, some more or less, but generally it ends up being five. Now, this doesn't mean every plot is only five posts or anything like that. Most of the time, the timeline of events needs to be broken off into bite sized pieces and that's okay.
The resolution doesn't always mean a happy ending, and can also serve as a way for me to introduce any new arcs for a specific character, which would then start the process over. You can kind of think about this when watching a lot of television shows. We watch all this build up starting on episode one, and things get more and more intense until we finally reach the season finale. And then woah, with two minutes left of the episode, we see that the character they just thought was dead is actually alive?! Which then leads us into season two.
I do think planning this way could feel really tedious for some, but I like to map things out before I start introducing any arcs so I at least know it isn't a quick "one shot" plot, something without actual purpose or an arc that doesn't really seem to have any sort of end goal that makes logical sense. It also just helps me remember what everyone's up to, especially when there are so many characters to keep track of.
𝙎𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝘾𝙀𝙉𝙀
Before I go into the game, I basically write out a "rough draft" of sorts. This includes dialogue, any background noises (things like a clock ticking or the tapping of a pencil), a brief description of each shot/photo (including any post-editing things like adding blur effect), and a summary of what's happening in each panel.
Because I only use one document for this, and clear it out once I complete a scene, I do not have any examples to show from The Baudelaire Legacy, so I created a mock-up scenario in which Ozzy flunks a difficult test at school, as seen below.

Once I have that written, I plug it into my 'scene planning' board. However, I only include the shot/photos, and the short summary. On Milanote, I also plug in the location, time of day, attire and any pose accessories I might need (so that I remember to create an extra outfit for it). This ends up looking like the example below.

I typically will only have this open on my second monitor while I'm shooting the scene, and I just tick the boxes as I go along. This is really nice if you have to stop mid-shoot, and helps me pick up where I left off without getting confused.
I do also edit each panel in-between shooting to make sure I'm getting the shots I want, however, I don't encourage everyone to have Photoshop and Sims 4 open at the same time.

Then we have the character sheets for each of our characters. Right now, I'm only focusing on Lawrence & Winifred (though, the children's arcs are in a 'idea dump' document).
For me, this is the most important piece of the story. One of the reasons shows like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are considered some of the best writing in television history, is mostly due to the fact that, in my opinion, they prioritize this as well. It's always good to have a strong character in mind before you begin, and this is because you don't want them to step outside themselves.
Of course, your character can change and bend within their environment or plots happening around them, and they certainly should, but you also need to ask yourself if it's being done logically. Asking yourself, 'Why did they end up this way?', 'How did we get here?' and 'How would this character specifically react to an intense situation, stress or hardship?' is crucial when writing a character that feels alive.
Having something like this helps me build their "character arc" and map it out so no one ends up being left in the dust and makes sure that everyone is important in some way. Each of the children will have a sheet created for them once they reach the teen life state as well.
I also use this page as a way to record any quirks, or habits they have. These don't have to be major or super important either. So for example, on Lawrence's character sheet, I have it written down that he wears glasses to read; a very small thing casual readers probably wouldn't even pay attention to, so it feels like an important detail to me.

In addition to Milanote, I also Google Sheets/Docs. This is where I keep my spreadsheet and write / keep a hard copy of my story.
My spreadsheet is basically broken up into four different tabs - one for the main sims information (the Baudelaire's), side household information, my story posts and my ageing table.
My information tables look something like this:

For story posts, I use @aheathen-conceivably's method of tracking, which you can read about here. The only thing I have added in addition to what she has is a "notes" section, and this where I include any sort of post that doesn't specifically fit into any arc but is still important - things like birthdays, marriages, holidays, etc.

In addition to all of these things, I also use Pinterest to create moodboards for each decade, as well as each character. I like to include all sorts of things like any inspiration I'm drawing from (so, things like Greta Gerwig's Little Women or HBO's Gilded Age), photos, quotes, etc.

Annnnd that's basically it! I'm hoping this provides some good insight, and is helpful in some way. I know it seems like a lot, but the more you do it, and the more you plan, the more natural it will start to feel. Again, I am not an expert in any way, and it's always difficult to explain your process in this way (and probably why I put off trying to do so for such a long time). Locus and Lopez vs. dehumanization and seeing your own humanity through someone else
AKA 1.5k words worth of me trying to justify a random pairing I've been trying to sell people on for 5 years. Feat. a lot of my own introspection on both characters, CW for mentions of abuse.
It's kind of easy to assume that Locpez as a ship only exists because Locus is one of the few people who understands Lopez and one of even fewer who has had an actual (off-screen) conversation with him with full mutual fluency, especially since they interact directly, like, twice in canon (Objects In Space and the "Holy shit he's bilingual" scene from The Federal Army of Chorus). To be honest, that was my initial reason for shoving them together whenever I got into RVB and there was literally no content for them because no one was really considering them together in any capacity but a brief, funny passing interaction.
I do think language is an inherent motivator in their relationship with each other. It's a catalyst. Spanish, of course, is perhaps the most obvious thing they share--Locus being a Latino man and Lopez being the same in a convoluted and meta-racist metaphor. Beggars, choosers: anyone who knows how I operate knows I lean into reclaiming their depictions for my own brown person machinations. For Lopez it's the beauty of meeting someone who not only understands him, but isn't going to belittle him for the language he speaks or imply it'd be easier if he learned English. Locus will just listen to him talk and respond without commenting on the language barrier; Lopez isn't exotic or abnormal or "broken" for it, he just speaks Spanish, big deal, Locus speaks it too.
For Locus, it leans more toward reminding him of who he used to be when he was a simpler and kinder person. His culture seems like a forgone part of himself in many ways, but even if only because he's so distant from his humanity that he doesn't remember HOW to embrace his culture, or what the point of cultural pride even is. Lopez is like, reverse culture shock for him, where Locus is very familiar with Spanish as a language--grew up with it, learned it young, whatever, he canonically understands it and given he's Latino it's easy to assume it could be his native language--but has divorced himself from it so much to be malleable to his abusers that hearing someone speak it so unabashedly feels new. It's the lack of it that makes it so foreign, but it's so ingrained into him that it's easy for him to just slip back into it.
And Lopez being so stubbornly proud of what he is plays into that language dynamic, yes--now that there's someone who will listen and not judge, he has room to be adamant and own his monolingualism, and having someone as aggressively, straightforwardly prideful as Lopez forces Locus to recognize the beauty in the language too--but it applies on a grander scale, which is what I suppose the point of this post is: Locus and Lopez don't just share Spanish, but also histories of abuse and dehumanization, of being overlooked as living, thinking things in favor of taking advantage of their skills. And the results of this abuse manifest differently in both of them, but they're alike in just enough ways that their differences stimulate each other into bettering themselves and reflecting on what makes them, dramatic pause, human.
Some of Lopez and Locus's defining personality traits to me are their shared low empathy (forcibly learned on both of their parts) and the way they feel so alien in any group they're a part of. They're people with a lot of potential who don't care how others see them (at their worst, especially in Locus's case), but are limited by someone who only sees them for their usefulness (Sarge, Felix) and doesn't truly see them as a person. Lopez may be a Red, but they don't really care about anything he says, so he's just a wrench to them. Locus has Felix, but he doesn't recognize that Felix has one-sided power over him and is keeping him on a short leash; he's a shield and a weapon. They're tools, they don't have feelings, and if they realize as much it's a fault in their programming, they can and have to be steered back into place.
They're reflective of each other in this way. However, they're not identical in disposition: Locus resigns very easily to what he's told to be. He had more hope once, made attempts to be humanitarian, but was swiftly taught that kindness is suicide and that the point is to survive, no matter the cost. It was easy for Felix to take advantage of him by saying they needed each other when Locus was at his worst, because having kindness ripped out of him gave Locus little else to rely on but his hands. Locus has no room for questions, because a rulebook is absolute. It takes a reminder of what he used to be to make him falter, but even when Santa is showing him one of the inciting incidents of his "soldier" mindset, Locus can't stop himself from resigning to the mindlessness that Felix and the UNSC have already taught him.
Lopez feels trapped and is hyper-aware of it. He'll listen, but only because there's nothing else in the world for him. He's subservient but not in the same way Locus is, because he's angry about his situation: he knows it's not fair, but what can he fucking do about it? He was made to be Red Team's mechanic, and every word he says falls on deaf ears. He carries this self-awareness like a shield, like a threat: he could do something, but there's no point because his nature as a robot defines him. All he has is a sharp tongue and his hands, and the Reds only need one of those things from him. He revels in being able to complain and reminds himself that he's meant for something greater, but he's so fatalistic that he won't take action.
The balance comes from this anger. They're so alike in how they see the world and how much life has mistreated them, but they don't fully understand each other despite it. Locus sees Lopez as privileged for having a team because Locus has never had people to belong with, but he doesn't understand that Red Team isn't a safe place for Lopez. Lopez thinks Locus is misguided for letting himself believe he could ever be reduced to a mindless weapon, because Lopez has only ever been an object and Locus can't comprehend what that's really like. They see each other for their imperfections first and foremost and it frustrates them mutually: "You could've fixed this sooner, you could've escaped the grief, why didn't you try?"
It's this back-and-forth that they both need in order to reflect on themselves. They're harsh people who don't want to be coddled and admonished, but they're not making forward motion on their own because they're both stubborn and tend to decathect before they even recognize they CAN feel. They refuse to see themselves as human, but they can only see the humanity in each other, and they're both so alike that it could make them hypocrites. For a robot, Lopez's anger is so potent that it's alive: Locus sees more feeling in him than he's ever felt in his own life. Locus wants to be a weapon so bad, but he doesn't realize an object doesn't have heart the way he does, doesn't mourn the years it spent under someone's thumb, doesn't want to fix itself.
They're both brutally honest and they both need brutal honesty. They get along WELL by nature of being as similar as they are, but they argue so much because they want to understand each other and don't realize they already do. They're mapping details of their reflections. It's great: Locus is so hurt that he can only see the damage he causes, Lopez is difficult to hurt and notoriously good at fixing things. Lopez wants true accountability and retribution and Locus has cultivated complicity and guilt to perfection.
After Felix, Locus needs room to command his own life and put others in place when they overstep his boundaries, but he's scared of becoming Felix, so he also needs an anchor to keep him grounded in reality and reasonable. Lopez has never had real control over his own life before and would kill to have the power to make small choices and do as he wants, but he's a very private person who also needs a lot of space to work. They balance each other out and know the other's limits so well that they can easily go "You're hurting yourself and I'm not going to let you get away with it."
It's about understanding yourself through someone else and vice versa. Realizing that you share so much that if they deserve good, you do too. Reclaiming pain, experiencing freedom, finding support. They will deconstruct each other to the metal and muscles and rebuild one another over and over again, and they'll never get it perfectly right, but they're both going to learn more and more as they go. Flawless navigation of a road you've driven a million times, forward and back, potholes and all.

Instead of you spending countless joyful hours trawling the web for grainy old '70s flicks, I did it for you! Here's a list of FREE places to watch DJ's stuff.
This list will be in reverse chronological order as they appear on IMDb. Some are just placeholders until (if) better links can be found, and some are bootlegs from other countries. I'm excluding music videos since those aren't hard to find.
And if you want to skip boring/annoying plot but don't want to miss him, I've made a key:
MC (main character) - much of the story involves his character and he is onscreen often
SC (side character) - only part of the story involves his character, so he's onscreen far less often than other characters
C (cameo) - he's got one or two scenes and they're small, in which case I'll mark his appearances in 0:00:00 format
I'm leaving most content warnings to viewer discretion, but some I don't feel comfortable ignoring. Also, some of the YouTube vids may get taken down at any moment :( If you like something, back it up! I'm using KMPlayer to download my faves, but I've heard you can also use VLC.

a fantasy story where a wizard is given a statuette head in honor of their getting tenure. it’s more a tchotchke than anything else, but it’s a high quality tchotchke, and imported from foreign parts too, so the wizard keeps it on their desk and uses it to hold down letters when they open their window. then one day they get back from teaching a lecture and the statuette is gone. they contact the university’s department of rectification, and the department finds a janitor who claims she saw the statuette begin to shake violently before splintering into fragments, dissolving into fine dust before the fragments had a chance to hit the desk. the wizard is skeptical. if they had a magically affected item on their own desk for months without noticing, they wouldn’t deserve their own tenure. but then a curator from the university’s gallery of artifacts enters in a panic: several of their more expensive foreign items have vanished, shaking violently before splintering into fragments and dissolving into dust. the wizard’s curiosity is piqued, and their worry is awakened. consulting both the receipt for the statuette and the gallery’s records, they find that the statuette and the first of the artifacts to vanish were made in the same workshop, and each of the other artifacts originated from a steadily expanding region of the foreign parts. this is truly odd. the wizard studies the records for any mention of a spell that might do this, coming up with nothing, although an ancient book from foreign parts does disintegrate in their very hands. by now a petition has come in from a merchant city a hundred miles away, stating that a warehouse of very expensive imported fabrics vanished overnight, leaving nothing but impossibly fine dust. the wizard checks the origin of the fabrics and is not surprised with what they find. the university has a guest lecturer from the same country as these vanishing items, a slender, sharp-mustached man with a vast store of medical knowledge and an insufficient store of patience. he brushes off the wizard’s question with offense—he left his home country twenty years ago, what special knowledge does he have?—but after a pensive moment he adds that the letters from his mother have all vanished. he seems uncertain whether to shoo the wizard out or let them leave on their own, but before he can make up his mind a terrible expression crosses his face. he begins to tremble, violently. the wizard rushes to steady him, but the moment their hands meet his shoulders, his entire body bursts into meaty fragments, baptizing the wizard in gore that sloughs off in fine dust before it gets the chance to drip. as though he had never been. the wizard fights to refocus their eyes and mind; when they succeed, they see items in their deceased colleague’s office bursting and vanishing one by one—densely scrawled papers, delicately constructed medical equipment, even the elegant painting of the colleague’s mentor the brusque doctor had made with his own hands. the wizard is so old and so dignified, but they flee the room. across the campus, people are coming undone: students, faculty, staff, birds in the duck pond the wizard’s deceased colleague had loved to frequent. in the chaos, the wizard hardly bothers to ask permission to pack their staff and go wandering. they journey toward the foreign parts where this curse originated, tracking its progress in reverse as they go. items from that country are the first affected, and people from that country are next. those deeply intertwined with victims become victims themselves—now that the wizard thinks of it, the colleagues and students who they saw vanishing had all been patients of the guest lecturer at some point or another. as they travel further and further, the cities grow emptier and emptier, the fields more barren—if a farm was planted with imported seed at any point in the past twenty years, its crops have without exception crumbled away—and the wizard consults every school, sage, and recluse they can find, looking for an explanation. searching for a cure

and like sidenote if i can make a post with a target audience of zero. i feel like fhsy was to d20 what aa3 was to ace attorney but aa3 pulled it off better for reasons i cannot explain
#it is. the amatonormativity#^ guy who was REALLY pissed about the sandra lynn stuff#like yknow that bit in the first ep where brennan is like 'oh this drama is going down' and so like the pcs investigate it#probs bcos they think itll like kick off their new quest#and then it turns out to be like. petty romantic drama.#thats kind of a microcosm of the entire season for me#not to say there werent parts i liked (looks at the picture of baron i printed out and hung on my wall)#(and most of the leviathan stuff was brilliant and ayda is a role model for me)#but its all so tied up in the rest of that shit that i dont rlly wanna rewatch it the way ive rewatched fy 6+ times#likening this to aa3 bcos of the rlly noticeable uptick in romantic content in it compared to the rest of the trilogy#like prior to that all that rlly comes to mind is like. 2-3 and pearl's shipping shenanigans and larry existing#but in aa3 both mia and phoenix have past lovers who play big parts#theres a married couple theres tigre and viola (who sidenote i ENTIRELY missed as romantic my first playthru. i am dense)#there's the business with fawles#like it felt like romance played a large part in every case in aa3#where even when it came up in 1 + 2 it was usually ancillary (2-3 excepted but like. ppl regard that case as a fluke in most regards)#you COULD argue that maggey and adrian also inject some romantic presence in the story#but idk it just doesnt feel as central or prevalent as in aa3#like i saw a post abt adrian and celeste being cousins in the aa anime being not just the sailor moon 'best cousins' thing#but like. reinforcing the themes of familiar devotion as aa2's core. and that was rlly foundational to my understanding of the game#even tho its a change that comes from an adaptation#whereas you Couldnt make that change in aa3 without it changing A Lot of shit#where was i going with this. shrug.#the zelda and tracker relationship drama was entirely manufactured as punishing the pcs for not centering npcs#whose relationship issues were ancillary to the overarching plot they were focused on and which hadnt rlly been brought up beforehand#'why didnt gorgug call zelda :/' do u want zac to pause the kalina mystery to roleplay good relationship communication with the dm??#like its one thing looking at sy as a narrative but looking at it as a ttrpg campaign with limited time and a need to split character focus#i dont see what it did for the story besides give gorgug something to angst abt. didnt rlly feel like there was character growth or an arc#sigh. MANDATORY DISCLAIMER its been at least a year since i watched sy and longer before that since ive played aa3#but at the time my feelings were strong and have only calcified. romance as a theme in something not generally abt romance

Hi Everyone, it's been a while :D!! So here's something I've been working on for the past month, just in time for OC_Tober 2022 -- an updated, full color lineup of the major DEITIES Cast!
Though this doesn't cover everyone featured in the project, this felt like a good opportunity to re-introduce some of the deities and their featured profiles on the website. I hope to work on more complete references and revisit details later, but this line-up should function well as a visual reference for everyone -- and to compare heights without their headdresses in the way, that too--

Osamu Dazai and the Depressing Era
#I have so many thoughts through my mind these days I was barely able to focus on the episode. I kept zoning out#I made barely any post#Okay some thoughts. The thing that really hit me since the first time watching b/sd... Is the–#“I don't kill people because I want to write about lives” “I start doing good because my friend asked me to”#Like I get grey morals and everything but also. Sorry for being so simplistic but I think everyone should do good / not kill people–#because killing people is bad lol. No because of other personal reasons#I really *really* feel b/sd ultimately has a very nihilistic approach to life.#And that when Oda said “You won't find a reason to live whether side you're on. Both sides are the same.” it's not Oda-character talking–#but it's really the author expressing their own worldview through the one character that's the most distinguished#They really think there's no difference between good and bad in their little nihilistic world.#Which is something I personally don't agree with.#“It is a given that everything that is worth wanting will be lost the moment I obtain it”#......... No it's not you just need to go to the shore and listen to the waves crush and the seagulls squeal dude. It's going to be okay.#That's why it's so easy to portray Dazai as perfect and flawless for the author btw.#Because nothing he ever did in the pm was wrong if “good” and “bad” don't mean anything to begin with.#And this is coming from a deeply relativist person. But I believe even grey morals have a limit.#Thus my general disagreement with most b/sd themes#I don't know why I went off this tangent btw I didn't intend to.#I suppose it bears repeating once in a while where I stand compared to the b/sd themes and my personal interpretation of them#(Even though I acknowledge most people don't agree with such interpretation... )#There were other things regarding the episode I needed to say but I forgot...#One of them was that season 2 Dark Era proves that even amv openings can actually be good if you put enough budget in them#Which makes me even more pissed at the season 3 / season 5 ops#random rambles

Nothing Bad Here - Part 2
Joel sat at the table long after Ellie had gone to bed. The trip back from Salt Lake City had been short, shorter than they were used to. Less trouble than usual, too. But he’d been on edge that whole time, unsure if they’d make it back to Jackson. And now that they were back… He ran a hand through his hair, finally standing. He reached to his hip, expecting to find a pistol there, but flexed his hand. No weapons inside the commune. Didn’t seem right, the way the world was now. Joel patroled the entire downstairs, checked the locks and windows, pulled all the curtains. No one was out this late except the guards. Guards. He shook his head again. She was safe.   He still considered pulling furniture in front of the doors. Habit.   Joel trekked up the stairs slowly, his knees protesting. He opened the door to Ellie’s room silently, looking inside. She was asleep on the bed. He released breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. She was safe. He closed her door and went back into his room to sleep. -  Joel woke with a start, Ellie’s scream echoing in his ear. His heart pounded as he pushed off the covers and lurched upright, looking around the room. She wasn’t here, where was she? He stood up, listening, reaching for a weapon at his hip that wasn’t there. He looked around, grabbed a lamp, and ripped it out of the wall as he crossed the room quickly and quietly. He crossed the hall to open her door, raising the lamp next to his head. Ellie was asleep in her bed. She was still asleep. She was safe. Had she screamed? He shook his head, standing in her doorway, looking down at her. It was still dark outside. She was safe. He huffed out a breath, closing her door again, going back to bed. It took him a while to fall back asleep. -   Blood. Cage. Fire. Screams. Hers? Blood. Cannibal. Predator. Murderer. BLOOD. Ellie jumped awake, looking around the room frantically. There was a man standing over her bed. She cried out, striking at him. He crashed to the floor, and her brain finally registered. Not a man. A lamp. On a table. Could have been a man. A short man. Fuck. Ellie sat up in her bed, drawing her knees to herself and putting her head in her hands. The dream hadn’t been coherent, just images flashing. Her heart was still pounding. She looked around the room. Joel- where the fuck was Joel?!   Joel was in the next room. It was weird, waking up without him near her. He was always within sight. Ellie rolled off the bed, stepping around the pieces of the lamp. She crossed the hall quietly, opening the door to Joel’s room. He was there, asleep in the bed. She drew in a deep breath, her heart starting to calm down. He was sleeping on his left ear. He wouldn’t hear her come in. Ellie closed the door behind her and laid down on the window seat across the room from Joel. It took her a while to fall back asleep. - It was light out when Joel woke up next. He scanned the room for Ellie immediately. She was curled up on the window seat. He sighed, and his eyes softened. He was glad to see her, but she wasn’t supposed to be in here. She had her own room. When had she come in? He ran a hand down his face, yawning, then stood. He took the blanket from his bed and spread it over her. It’s too cold in Wyoming to be sleeping without a blanket, especially near a window.   Ellie stirred when Joel lowered himself back into his bed. She blinked, looking around.   “Morning,” Joel said quietly.   Ellie didn’t respond, just sat up in the window seat, rubbing her eyes.   “When’d you come in here?” he asked.   She grimaced. “Sorry. I’m-”   “It’s ok,” he said immediately, softly. “Are you all right?”   She flushed, starting to get up. “Yeah, I won’t-”   Joel interrupted her, raising his eyebrows slightly as he spoke to her. “You come in here whenever you need to, all right? You wake me up, if you need to.”   “How? You can’t fuckin’ hear anything,” She wasn’t looking at him, and her quiet, flat tone belied the sarcasm.   Joel watched her for a moment. She was not ok. He got up and headed for the door. “Come on, kiddo, I’ll make you breakfast.”

#This post is NOT about anyone following me.#I am quickly hurtling toward#'I'm wary of those super into Kingsley who exclusively refer to him as King the way I am wary of Caduceus stans who call him only Caddy'#Like. The nickname is TOTALLY fine actually! And I think most people who use it are normal.#But then I'm quickly noticing a trend—and this existed ever since the finale when Kingsley was introduced and is NOT new but is growing—#where a very specific sort of stan with a VERY specific type of super weird interpretation#tends to refer to him (Kingsley; Caduceus; either) EXCLUSIVELY using the nickname in a way that has a very specific vibe.#And it's hard to explain bc it isn't ONLY using the shortening of the name. There's like a VIBE about it.#Anyway this specific type of stan (again only a small minority of stans) tend to think everything should revolve around that character.#I've seen a lot of commentary from these kinds of stans that think Caduceus NEEDED to be in this two-shot to solve Fjord's problem#and during C2 also often went 'let Caddy punch Uk'otoa for Fjord!' and would be weird about people going Fjord should solve Fjord's problem#And I'm currently seeing a developing handful of similar (again MASSIVE minority of overall stans) for Kingsley#who hope for things from part 2 that refocuses the entire episode around Kingsley (and they do acknowledge this and want that to happen).#Honestly. It's often also super like shipping oriented this subset of fans as well in a way where EVERYTHING is reframed into the ship.#But like. Off limited observation in the fandom and just anecdotal evidence.#It feels there's correlation between these specific type of weird stan and a tendency to use exclusively a nickname that's otherwise fun#and a nickname that is otherwise even sometimes used by the characters.#Like. Again. Not talking about anyone reading this post.#And it's got an additional sort of VIBE to it yanno? Like it's exclusively using the nickname + sort of energy.#I can't explain it. But like it's not JUST using the nickname. An energy. An aura. A je ne sais quoi.#There's using it in a Vibe™ that turns out 98% of the time? OP thinks even other character's narratives should be about this character.#It's like. I promise you that Caleb's entire arc is not about Kingsley (or Molly) and Fjord's arc is not about Caduceus.#And it feels like people who make me MOST often think that to myself seem to use ONLY 'King' or 'Caddy' in a specific vibe.
