Vettonso x Similar Helmets

SV Germany 2012 x FA Monaco 2013: Gold & Dark Red

I think a lot about Vettonso and their mutual relationship witn gold. They're both golden boys, they're both seen lit gold by the sunshine on many podiums throughout the years, both have worn golden boots, and as you can see here: both have worn golden helmets. The parallels in these particular helmets makes me feel insane. Both are: gold with dark red accents, both have their birthplace's coat of arms(Bergstraße and Asturias), both have team animal motifs, and both have symbols to represent their two championships(You by now know the signifigance of the ones on Fernando's helmet, but I think the ones on Seb's are actually a callback to his Formula BMW days when he used to put the smiley stickers on his car for every win.)

And did you know both of these helmets were designed by the same helmet design company? Yep, both of these are JMD helmets. I know JMD helmets are/were pretty popular, but still, there's something to me about Fernando commissioning the same designer that Seb has been using since he was a literal child. Parallels, am I right?

SV Japan 2010 x FA Japan 2023: White with Black & Red

Haha I remember @protocolseben and I discussing this a bit back in September when Fernando's helmet dropped. I honestly think Seb is such an innovator and trailblazer in terms of helmet design, and you can see his influence in helmet design as recently as this past season. I'm not sure if he was the first ever driver to don a matte white helmet with red accents as a representation of the Japanese flag, but it certainly envoked him in my mind when I saw Fernando's!!

I think Fernando's is pretty similar to all of Seb's 2010-2012 Japan helmets but I like this one the most so! I think if Seb wasn't restrained by the Red Bull logo, he def wouldv'e put the red circle where Nando put his so I think Fernando did a really good job, even if unintentionally, at emulating Seb's sense of design.

SV Singapore 2012 x FA Singapore 2012: Sparkly!

Like I said in the one above, it's crazy how much Seb influenced helmet design. He was pretty much the pioneer of sparkly helmets for Singapore, right? It drives me absolutely insane that there's actually pictures of them together in such similar designed helmets. It's kinda funny actually that even though they're pretty deep in the championship fight at this point, and Seb just got one up on Fernando; Fernando is wearing a helmet that is a direct influence from Seb!!! Is that not insane???

Also, Fernando trying to be camp with trying the now in vogue sparkly Singapore helmet, and Seb accidentally completely blew him out of the water with his outrageous light up LED constellation helmet. But god yeah....to have pics of them in matching helmets from this era particuarly makes me emotional ;;;

SV Hungary 2021 x FA 2022: Pink with Dark Blue

I really could've picked any of Seb's 2021 helmets, but I thought this one matched the best with Fernando's main 2021 helmet(with the color pallet.) Also one thing, it's crazy how much control BWT has as a sponsor, I don't think I've ever seen another sponsor go so hard at having a chokehold on individuality. I like that we got pink liveries and pink helmets, but I don't think they should have that much control.

I'm almost kinda sad there wasn't any Miami GP in 2021, because I think that was the only unique helmet Fernando had in 2022. But these match pretty well! Pretty in pink!! It's crazy that their parallels in the 2020s are ongoing even before Fernando actually takes over Seb's seat. Thanks BWT I guess?

SV Abu Dhabi 2022 x FA Abu Dhabi 2022: Fernando's Seb Tribute Helmet

AND HERE WE HAVE THE PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE!!! The ultimate conclusion, it literally couldn't get better than this!! This is still unbelievable, like how is this an actual thing that happened!? Fernando intentionally branding his helmet, the only symbol of individuality in F1, with his rival's flag colors, HIS FLAG!!!!! Not to mention the literal "Vettono Best Moments" collage he posted alongside it....and the hand-holding....and everything that happened with them at Abu Dhabi 2022....

But god, after years of incidentally making parallel helmet designs, Fernando decided to officially tie the knot of the red string of fate, and make a helmet directly referencing Seb's. I think it's funny because as I said with two of the previously mentioned ones, those Fernando designs are pretty much inspired by Seb's, and here he is openly making one directly inspired by Seb. I don't really have words for how this actually makes me feel because it's just. Yeah. The most open and clear declaration of love and respect and admiration one could ever make. TO ME.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that blaseball has dramatically changed my life. I’m immensely grateful that one day I just happened to stumble across a silly little tumblr post about a silly little sports simulation, and I don’t know where I would be right now if I hadn’t.

Through blaseball, I learned to find confidence in myself as a writer again, and more importantly, find confidence in myself as a person. It’s helped me untangle my own identity, guided me through the worst year of my life and into the best one (so far!), and given me some of my best friends and even an incredible partner who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Blaseball has brought me so much wonder and love, and I will forever be grateful for it.

I’m also not going anywhere! I have so many wips and I fully intend to finish them. Or most of them. Or some of them. You know how it is with wips. And I have more ideas on top of that, and there’s The Salt, and the zine jam… admittedly I’ve been in a bit of a writing slump lately, but I haven’t lost my motivation for writing blaseball in particular, and I truly do think I’ll still be going for years to come.

I love my community of writers and creatives, and I love my cnnmunity of moisties, and as long as people still want these communities to exist, I will be there. My DMs are always open, and I love to chat blaseball and everything else! 

It has truly been an honour and a delight being part of this cultural event with you all. We are all love blaseball, and may it live on in our hearts forever. Many teams, one league, and one shared experience we will never forget.

I promised an update on my life/activity and stuff, so here it is! I’ll stuff it all under the cut but the tldr is I’m still here just on a super slow. I’m always down for chats and interactions as long as you’re cool with that!

I’m quite private about myself online so gonna keep this brief (lol watch me do anything but), but I feel like I keep circling back to apologising every few months for not being here enough then punishing myself over it when I’m not magically active again. It’s ultimately a hobby but I still feel bad that people writing with me could be feeling let down/ignored, so I wanted to drop this rather than keep on cycling the same apology until it feels hollow.

Life’s a Lot right now: I’m currently juggling two part time jobs, pretty much full household responsibilities for three people, night-school with essays, and an emotionally intensive placement as part of my training which also involves paperwork. Home life is also less than ideal (won’t go into details). On top of this, I have chronic health problems alongside chronic pain so most days I’m just crabby and exhausted; my mental health could be better but rn it just feels like I’m treading water to get to a place where I’ll have fewer commitments.

Ultimately rp and writing/creative stuff in general is part of how I unwind so I’ll always be around because this outlet is so rewarding, but as it stands I’m just so mentally and pysically drained that when I do have the time I’d rather just switch my brain off and play a bit of a game and have a sliver of social life than try to force out writing which is gonna be sub-par. I’ve been feeling kinda down about my writing for a bit and just feel like I’m giving the same post over and over, which also isn’t helpful!

As for my activity and where y’all fit: I’m still around and intend to be; still responding to DM’s on Discord or IM’s on here (unreliable though they are -_-) just being ridiculously slow with replies and popping reblogs or replies out just as and when. I’m not the type to up and quit, hell I’ve been on this blog for years so I’m going nowhere, just on the go-slow with the odd spurt of like 3-5 replies.

Of course I 100% understand if this weird unpredictable activity doesn’t fit for you: we all have different needs and expectations with this hobby and if me only showing up now and again isn’t gonna work that’s totally ok and you don’t have to follow or write with me: it’s been a blast knowing you!

If you’re chill to stick around and deal with my slowness, please know I WILL get to replies, even if it’s at glacial pace. I’ll post a shot of my tracker/a list up in the future so I can be 100% on what I owe and know you can always check in with me/hold me accountable for stuff. I'll be honest I don't really have any headcanons off the top of my head. I have to think really hard about those I like but usually I can point at a preexisting one and go "haha yes I like this one" without thinking of it myself =v=

I think my biggest hc rn - and it's kind of controversial bc ik ppl have different opinions on it - is that deku is just flat out gay. like that's his sexuality, he only likes men. I used to hc him as bi and I campaigned pretty hard for it, and regarding fandom ships I still don't mind shipping him with girls. (tbh with fandom ships, I kind of just disregard a character's sexuality hc entirely bc I'm a multishipper who thinks crack ships are fucking great.)

but vibe wise, as well as putting canon into perspective, he just feels so gay to me. he screams comphet. he's got some vague internalized homophobia where he's totally supportive if u're gay, but HE'S not gay. and there's no way he can be even though he very well could be. like just think about it. he was really only so shy and nervous around girls bc he's literally never interacted with one casually before high school. and after he got close to 1A and could, you know, talk to women, he lost any deeper attraction in them. literally what happened with him and ochako. that's just how I feel anyway, but he won't admit his natural drift towards men (bkg) and his emotional hangups on men (bkg). he hangs out with men (bkg) way too much for him to have any serious interest in women imo

anyway this is just my take, you can hc deku as whatever sexuality you want!!! I still think bi deku has so much flavor like yass be the disaster bi u were meant to be!!! but gay deku just speaks more to me nowadays, I guess

they are both bad at verbalizing their feelings. dk is overall horrible with emotions that pertain to himself so he just doesn't dwell on his very obvious crush on bkg. he just thinks that it's normal to be obsessed with another man. like lol hes been doing it since he was a baby. it's not anything more. he is NOT gay. straight men can appreciate everything about another man and more! just bestie things! and bkg has accepted in his heart that he is gay for dk but u are NOT going to hear him say it. sorry but that man does not know how to even start a convo about this. he'd probably want to, but knows he'd fuck it up and dk would miss the point. he'd probably just tell dk to fight him and then make out somewhere down the line bc it's easier and less embarrassing to him. little does he know, HE'S embarrassing and I hate him.

so u know the whole "bkg is an early bird and dk is a night owl" hc? and how it's technically canonically wrong? yeah. I'm obsessed with how wrong it is. bkg going to bed early and waking up late is so real of him. he just really fucking loves to sleep, and dk is the exact opposite. man goes to bed late and wakes up at 5 in the morning. he gets like 3 hours of sleep maximum and he's functioning perfectly. god I wish I were him

I always like drawing bkdk pretty close in height. ik lots of bkdks like a height difference but I prefer when rivals are pretty equal, and that includes how tall they are

dk's hands are coarser than bkg's, except around the palms, where bkg canonically has thick skin (so I'd assume there's some callouses there)

I like to think that bkg is good at basically anything, considering how he's a perfectionist. give him something to do and one week to do it, and he'll have a new skill under his belt. but there's a few things he can't do that trip him up so bad and make him so angry. like to me he definitely doesn't know how to whistle or roll his Rs. he just physically cannot. they're such pointless abilities but he hates how he can't do them. especially bc dk can definitely do both

dk keeps calling bkg "kacchan" bc it reminds him of a simpler time :') it makes him feel more connected to bkg than he initially is, and tacitly tells the class that he knows bkg best. also bc bkg never told him to stop so like ... why should he stop now. lol. and ALSO bc he's waiting to see how far he can go before bkg snaps. little does he know, bkg never snaps about "kacchan" bc that's dk's name for him. it reminds him that dk is always there, always calling out for him. and recently, it's a reassurance that he's still here, against all odds

i don't really know how to talk about why the ~lumbago~ thing being such a meme bothers me so much and why... but i really want to try and please, disclaimer or whatever, i KNOW that it's "just a joke", i'm not mad at any of you because i genuinely don't think anybody is trying to be malicious or anything

i get that it comes off as an excuse, especially with the joking tone and the general way that uncle is, and especially if you googled what lumbago is and saw that it's 'just back pain'... i get that uncle comes across as lazy and careless and like he doesn't want to work etc i've already made a post about that part

but the thing is that lumbago- lower back pain- is still caused by an injury or an illness. whether it be arthritis that is affecting him otherwise (as is incredibly common amongst older people, and as many of us know) or an injury sustained during his time with the gang/prior to. if he does have lumbago- and i don't really have much reason not to believe him, uncle is a lot of things but he isn't much of a liar- then it probably does actually hurt him. whatever is causing it or did cause it probably still causes him pain in other ways as well. growing old isn't easy or pain-free either, especially during that time when our seniors didn't have as many resources or such access to good healthcare as many do now.

and if it does hurt, i don't blame him for not wanting to work.. and he DOES work, we've talked about this ahem anyways. no, i don't blame him at all for wanting to rest his back. from the little we know about uncle we can tell that he had a pretty hard life and however it is that he ended up with lumbago, he deserves to rest. all of them do- this isn't me saying that i don't wish arthur and john and everybody else could rest because i do

everybody deserves to be able to feel safe and as painfree and rested and cared for and loved as possible, this shouldn't really be an argument in my eyes and i think that's why it all bothers me so much anyways

and at the end of the day it's kind of annoying that i can't post photos or about uncle in any way without people making lumbago jokes (not really on this site tho!!! you guys don't do it that much) and it's annoying that i can't look for like, uncle content lol, without just seeing lumbago lumbago uncle is lazy uncle sucks lumbago uncle hehe like PLEASE... he is so much more than his back pain lmfao what the heck

people want to minimize his pain and minimize his experiences while still maximizing on the humor of it all and making him out to be some court jester when he is, you know, a person albeit a fake one in a video game (gasp, i know) and he has thoughts and feelings (physical and emotional) and has had an entire life before what we see and a multitude of experiences that we will likely never know more about so we are simply left to wonder and one might think of some of the worst possibilities

uncle isn't just some court jester putting on a show for everybody.. "put me out of your majesty, your misery" he sees through anybodys shit and he expects anybody to see through his, he doesn't underestimate people, he doesn't lie and fake stuff because frankly i do think he's too lazy to do THAT.. also because he knows just how harmful putting on a charade is- he's real and if you don't like it or him and think he's just someone to laugh at that's fine but maybe i'm one of the only people who genuinely loves him as a character and wishes to know so much more about him

and i think that it's sad because in real life people minimize other people's experiences and traumas and pains especially those that we don't understand or know a lot about and man we should be working on changing that in our own lives, not furthering it all by placing these negatives on our favorite characters in our favorite medias

i think that's all i have to say about it for rn and again please keep making the jokes if they make you happy, please don't think i'm mad or calling any of you in specific out, i'm just a sensitive person and i get attached to characters like this

I’m about 75% of the way through the first prowljazzwave first draft. There’s a few missing scenes, the last chapter, and another random chapter I decided I wanted to add, haha

This weekend I want to finish writing chapter two and get it posted......

I’ve also got about 4 prowlcoswave fics that are in various stages of completion, but all of them are giving me trouble rn. I can’t believe I haven’t posted any new prowlcoswave fics since August.

25. What part of writing is the most fun?

There’s something powerful about sitting down and ending the day with thousands of new words in a doc! It’s not sustainable at all but it is a consistent supply of serotonin when I can do it.

Also, constantly getting your AU/headcanons confused with canon! I’m like ‘whose character arc couldn’t have been improved by them moving to Sanctuary station? Look what happened to Cosmos and Prowl!’ and then I remember only Cosmos went to live on the commune ;_;

Have you changed labels since realizing you were LGBT?

Oh yeah, innumerable times! In middle school I said I was bi because back then, we were told there was just gay, straight, or bi, and I knew I wasn't quite either of the first (it didn't go over well with...anyone in my community. But that's another day's tale!)

I think once I really started to understand what being aspec meant though, I stuck with those set of labels and bounced around between them for a bit. So at this point, I really can't see myself leaving that "grouping" because it makes so much sense for what I experience. Rn I'm completely asexual, and a wlw demiromantic (oh, what a mouthful!) But I'm starting to think I may just be aro who enjoys the coziness of being with other women.

That being said, I would love, love, LOVE to have a partner. A cottagecore girlfriend, who cooks for me and I bake and crochet for her? And we live sustainably just a couple miles out of town. Yeah, the whole queer cottagecore shebang.

yeah i def feel they’re tryna focus on selling rn but then i mean they’re company cause it’s def the company who are coming up with the selling and merch. I think it’s also cause they’re at the peak of their career and they all need to start in listing in the army etc etc. So they’re tryna get the most out of it. yeah i think the fact that they have to enlist soon defo has influence on it. i also think they’re trying to get their strategy down before they enlist. this is so they can go to shareholders/investors/whoever with proper numbers and be like see this is what we can do, and what we can generate. then they take that model and apply it to TXT and all other artists directly under big hit. i think jin is delaying his enlistment till end of 2021 but can’t rmb if i read that from a credible source. anyway, i really wonder how they will handle things during enlistment and post enlistment.

and though you didn’t necessarily talk about it. i really have a bone to pick with the ads/brand endorsement that they are in. i mean some of the vids are pretty boring... or just like does not inspire me to buy the product. legit the guys getting caught with iphones despite being samsung endorsers is a big lol and if i am allowed to be a little critical, is sloppy on bts’ part. anyway I feel like the execution is trash when it comes to their brand endorsements lol. big hit nails the in house content production but when they partner up with other companies, it’s not great. though i feel that’s mostly on the brands and less so on big hit/bts.

these brands want bts as ambassadors to tap into the purchasing power that ARMY has. it's millions of people willing to buy anything they endorse but I just think they could do so much better. take brands like nike and adidas when they make ads, that shit moves you. you're like yeah that's sick!!! (e.g: nike’s you can’t stop us ad). yeah yeah they can’t go all out for a brand endorsement but i think they can do some low effort stuff. like downy for example could've done smth like make the guys make a fragrance, an exclusive limited edition product or capitalize on the fact that jk loves doing laundry.... maybe a cute little laundry day with jungkook and the boys lmao idk something that's just a little more genuine. it doesn't have to be cringe or high budget but at least it doesn't make me feel like it's just their name on a product. baskin robbins though they made a ‘bts flavour’ like the guys didn’t even have a hand in making the flavour? a video about them choosing the flavour would have made me go like ok i wanna try it. also they could get bts to work at a baskin robbins shops undercover or smth. idk something funny, something meme-y but perhaps bc of covid this wasn’t viable. anyway seeing them pose with ice cream doesn't make me feel like buying it lol. for Hyundai they could've done an outdoor camping episode, or a cute video about a road trip??? SOMETHING. like make me believe they actually like the products they are trying to sell at least. I want the ads to be more than them just saying look at this product hehe. like have you seen Thai ads? their stuff is top tier. and I remember the brands behind them because that's just the impact it has. maybe brand ambassador type products just are meant to be low effort. but a great brand related celebrity endorsed ad would be this one by budweiser & dwayne wade.

and to the other anon, i wouldn’t classify bts as sellouts as per se but bighit definitely has a very aggressive sales strategy. can’t say i’m the expert on sales and marketing but idk if this model is sustainable. i think first, fans who have been fans for a while will begin to get fatigued. maybe newer fans still don’t mind it or perhaps like it even, but eventually they might get fatigued too. but that may take years so perhaps big hit has it under control. can’t say i can fully understand because i’ve always been that person that has only ever voted, streamed and basically do things that are free in order to support them... i did buy tracks on melon in the early days to help lol but i’ve never felt the absolute need to buy everything they release, the albums and all the concert dvds or summer/winter packages. so i (and perhaps we) are not who they are targeting. maybe other people think differently and will always buy and never get tired of all the constant ‘buy this!’ type messaging.

but you are right haha i do miss the deep story lines, the goofy dance practice vids, the silly vlives where it wasn’t some curated event where they are doing smth (tho i like those too!!!) i just miss namjoon straight rambling for 10 minutes about his outlook on life, eat jin, jinminkook antics, [miss tae, hobi’s and yoongi’s vlives too] and i miss jungkook’s fancafe chatrooms... i remember one concert where in his ment, namjoon (and im paraphrasing) was like someone said something that made me sad. they said they felt like as bts achieves more, bts feels even further away from them now. (-- he went on to say not to feel like that, but i honestly can’t remember. i think this is the if our music can even make you feel 1% better ment but then again i am also not sure ahahahh!)

i didn’t feel that then but i feel that now haha. there isn’t anything wrong with it and i guess it’s just the reality of life! so so so happy for them and everything that they’ve achieved. amazing that they have a fan base that is so dedicated to them, and that continues to grow. perhaps i am just getting old...

hello ): I was hoping you could give me some advice? I feel like I keep a lot of things bottled up bc I don’t have anyone close to talk to about it, but I’m starting to think that it’s making things worse. My friends all have other friends that they’re closer to, and I no longer have a close friend group. I feel like if I do nothing, I’ll only become more distant from my friends, but I’m also at the point where I’m not super close with them. So it would feel weird n unfair unloading on them.

:( i’m so sorry to hear that love. my first thought is to point out that it can be hard to maintain friendships with multiple people, especially as things change as each individual grows. consistency is a struggle. more often than not, it’s not even a personal thing, it’s just the natural ebb and flow of the connections we form. some of them remain, and some of them don’t, but all we can do is work with what we’ve got in the present moment. of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not allowed to hurt. i understand that everything feels so heavy when you’re carrying the weight of a pain you just can’t talk about, even more so when it feels like no one cares. but i don’t think it’s a situation you’re always going to be stuck in, and i’m not just saying that. it’s true that avoiding vulnerability lessens the strength of the bonds we have with others. if we never let them in, theres not much to sustain the relationship on. it’s something i struggle with too. and of course there’s different types of friends - ones you party with, ones you go to school with, ones you have the same interests as, ones you just laugh with. but if you’re talking about a generally close group of people, then i feel like it’s a good idea to look out how you can start bridging the gap that has been forming. it’s ok that you’ve been a bit distant from them, that doesn’t mean they don’t want to hear from you. and it doesn’t mean they don’t want to make sure that you’re okay. even if they have other friends, their other friends don’t have your presence - the reason they let you into their lives in the first place. try to flip the circumstances in your mind. if one of them tried to talk to you about smth serious right now, would you just brush them off cause you haven’t seen them in a while? no, right? the same rule applies to you. your well being still matters. after we’ve isolated ourselves for a while, we sometimes start thinking in black and white, and assuming how others feel instead of letting them decide for themselves. i get that it’s easier to confide in those you 100% trust, and i’m not saying you have to bare your soul to every single one of them, but maybe you could begin to reach out to them more and more often. even if you feel annoying, or like they don’t want you around - because i promise, that’s a very common manipulation trick employed by the anxious mind. it doesn’t reflect reality. it can be as simple as asking them how they’re doing, sending a few memes, facetiming them them etc. think about who you’re still closest to and then follow that sense of familiarity until you get to a point where you feel like you can be honest with them about whats going on. i get it though, it’s hard to let yourself rant to someone when you’re scared about the ‘worthiness’ of your presence. it could be a good idea to simply ask them if you can talk to them about something thats been on your mind, and try to let them know that you understand if they’re not in the right mind frame to take on someone else’s emotion’s rn. i know that seems a bit formal, but it’s a good way to make sure everyone is comfortable....anyway, my point is that there are ways to recover what you feel has been lost, and that the people in your life still have love for you even if it’s been a while since you felt it. there’s no rush with this and you can totally take your pace when it comes to rebuilding that foundation of trust/friendship, but please know that it is not a lost cause. and most importantly, know that you are not alone. you deserve to be heard, listened to and given the support you need. if you don’t find it with the people you expect, you’ll find it else where, if you make the choice to seek it. the longer you bottle things up, the more impossible it feels to break the cycle, but it is always an option. if you ever need to talk, please feel free to hit me up and i’ll try to get back to you sooner. take care 🌙

1. What themes would you like to write about that you feel don’t get explored very often?

OOOOOH. I mean, I love writing about found family and chosen family, but I guess...I like tapping into those themes with characters who don’t get to see them very often (case in point: every Ling fic I’ve ever written). I’d like to write more fics with a focus on sensuality and romantic intimacy, though--that fma marvel au fic was a good exercise in that, and it was incredibly fun to write!

15. Why physical quirks do your characters tend to have? Eyebrow raising, picking nails, biting lips, pacing, crossing arms, etc.

I don’t have a lot of OCs, but when I write characters I tend to have them chew and tug on their hair as a nervous habit, or fiddle with their sleeves. Funnily enough, I don’t do either of those things much.

18. What writers have inspired you with their use of language? What are some of your favorite quotes?

I love love love Amie Kaufman! I’m gonna lose followers for this, I’m sure, but I love Cassandra Clare and Sarah J. Maas’s writing styles. Do I like either of them as people? Clare, no, Maas...I don’t know enough about her as a person to judge. But their books remain some of my favorites, and some of the lines from The Infernal Devices and A Court of Mist And Fury are so beautiful that I’d get them as tattoos in a heartbeat. Case in point:
