There's such an interesting cyber-anthropological phenomenon in feeling a communal pressure to act a certain way, or use the platform a certain way, when joining a new online space. Not in terms of the types of opinions or political views that are deamed acceptable, but in terms of specifics of etiquette and posting formats.

Making a Tumblr post that sounds "like a Twitter user" is met with scorn or derision a lot of the time. And when asking someone why they react like that, typically the answer is some form of "that kind of comedy doesn't work here" or "it doesn't sound right to post like that on this website", which is essentially just "it doesn't fit with the traditions I learned in this specific place".

I will always find the ways social media platforms evolve naturally like societies interesting.

my jgy thoughts have been expanding and adapting and roiling and toiling etc etc etc and all of it is coming down to me affectionately marveling at this character. he’s cut-throat. he’s cunning. his kindness leaves lasting impressions. his mercy is what predates his demise. he’s one of the few cultivators who helps those in need. he will sacrifice them if it benefits him. he loved. it didn’t last. it killed him. it orchestrated his downfall. he’s a genius. he’s paranoid. he compartmentalizes. he splits the world into who he would sacrifice and who he would not. people he loves and people he would sacrifice are not mutually exclusive. he’s filial to a fault. it was all for his mother. he is a study in assimilating to survive. the results vary. he manipulates the herd mentality to his benefit. it is turned against him. he is killed for the one thing he didn’t do by the one person he wouldn’t sacrifice. it is still somehow better than what the hive-mind cultivation world would have done. i love this tragic kaleidoscope of a character.

OK reading this book is making me think too much about doctor who so here is my thoughts, in short:

Rtd specials are centring on the liminal aspects of binary concept. We've got gender in the first episode, we've got facts and believes in episode two, and we're most likely getting dream and reality in episode 3.

Picture this: You are young and charismatic and very intelligent and you are so, so alone. Through no fault of your own, you have had the responsibility of a secret balanced upon your shoulders. There is a man in your life who is just like you and he is dying in your care. He tells you stories of his life and you know none of them are true, you know there are some secrets a man carries to his grave. He tells you stories and you can hear the truth in every word and you can't help but ask him why he's telling you all this.

He looks you straight in the eyes, the bastard, and the answer rolls off his tongue, smooth as honey, soaked in fear he dare not speak aloud, I need to know that someone forgives me.

You know this man better than anyone. You do not know him at all. He has bared his soul to you and he was lying through his teeth. You look at him and see yourself and you make a decision.

"I forgive you. For whatever it is you've done."

thinking about neil josten and how scared he must've been. like his mother died, he burned her body and said his goodbyes but didn't have time to truly grieve. now he's 16 and the only one that's ever even sort of been on his side his gone. he doesn't have family, he doesn't have friends, he doesn't even have an identity and now he has to learn how to navigate the world by himself and try to stay alive. even without the mafia at your throat being alone at that age is hard. we all know neil is tough but he still has panic attacks, he still gets frightened, i just think that for a while until he got somewhat settled in millport he must've felt so afraid and lost and that makes me so sad

I do actually feel awful about not being active here and not being able to watch Tubbo streams. Like I actually miss it so so bad!

I graduate in like 3.5 months though and once that happens I will have lots more free time, I swear to you I will be writing and liveblogging and tapping tf IN once I am free !!!
