Some people where asking if my animations are Associated with them (I wish). It is not. I am just crediting them for using their music for my videos.

@tvpaint used their software for everything except for the except for the multiplane pan. Their are so many fxs and rendering tools. So much to explore there!

My short film is done! I had to compromise alot of design choices and it's definitely not up to my mind's eye. But it is completed for my class deadline. I will be going back and fixing the scenes that are rushed and unfinished.

Here is a follow-up scene of my last post! I Submitted my full Final film yesterday for screening on the 27th! Week 3 - Logline, Pitch, Treatment, etc.

Logline A girl who wants back a special flower that she lost, gets abducted to a flower garden created by a toy clown that desires the girl’s tear drops.

Pitch This film explores a thriller story of a young girl, Viola, getting allured into the beautiful flower garden that is actually created by her toy clown that desires tear drops from her in order to live on. The story begins as Viola shows tears after losing the flower that her passed grandpa gave her. Thinking that she is the one, the clown appears in front of Viola with a flower in its hand. The two characters encounter each other when they desire something the most and each turns out to have what the other desires. Realizing that what Viola desires is a specific flower that contains memories, the clown basically creates a fake universe where an identical flower exists so that the girl can be allured into the world easily. When Viola is in the flower garden, she goes through several events that make her cry such as getting hurt from the sharp thorns of the roses that are surrounding the special flower that Viola wants. The clown gets bigger and bigger by consuming Viola’s tears, and by the time Viola finally gets to her special flower, the clown is enlarged in its original form. Viola manages to cleverly think of a way to get out of the situation, which is to use a pair of garden scissors and stab the clown in the back. The clown loses its power by throwing up all the tear drops he had consumed and Viola successfully escapes the world and returns to her room. In the end, Viola throws away the toy clown and her “special flower”, with the clown. The character development for Viola is significant in the story and the message of “do not be tempted so easily” also will be delivered clearly by the unsettling tone.

Treatment

The film starts with showing the world that Viola lives in; it is very muted and colorless. With a diary in her hand, Viola walks out of her house and sits on one of the stairs. She carefully opens her diary, full of flowers and plants, and stops at one specific page. It has a flower stuck in between the pages and there is also a photo of her and her passed grandpa holding the same type of flowers, indicating that the flower was given by her grandpa. While Viola is looking at the flower, she gets scared by a noise coming from the bushes and accidentally lets go of her flower. Viola gets up and tries to catch it but she fails, and starts to tear up. When her tears drop on the ground, a toy clown, with a flower in its hand, appears behind her. A little bit scared by how a toy clown appeared out of nowhere, Viola keeps distance for a while but eventually gets closer to it after seeing the beautiful flower that this clown has. Viola happily picks up the clown and puts the flower that it was holding in her diary.

We are now in Viola’s room, and she is placing the clown on one of the shelves in a closet. Before completely closing the doors, Viola opens her diary to the page where her lost flower used to belong, and her tears drop on the page. The clown sees this (his POV) and when Viola completely closes the doors, we see a very close shot of the clown’s face.

It is nighttime and Viola’s sleeping, but she wakes up after she hears a noise. Viola finds the toy clown on the floor for some reason, and looks around carefully, scared by the fact that the toy clown was not where it was supposed to be. Viola realizes that there is a thin ray of light coming out through the crack between the two doors for the closet. Viola carefully opens the door to see an endless path inside the closet. Although she is scared, Viola decides to go inside the closet to see what is going on, but regrets as soon as the doors close shut behind her. Viola is crying because the doors would not open, but she realizes that there is a glow coming from behind her and when she turns around, she sees a beautiful flower garden. Viola also realizes that the flower she lost is at the end of the path, surrounded by roses and other beautiful flowers. As Viola moves forward towards the special flower, the toy clown consumes Viola’s tear drops that have been left on the floor. As Viola gets closer to the flower, Viola gets scratched by the thorns of the roses, and cries from the pain but courageously keeps on walking towards the flower. When Viola finally gets to the special flower, she cries of joy, but a huge shadow appears from the back. Viola turns around and sees that the toy clown has gotten so big and is looking down at her.

The clown tries to catch Viola, and surprised by the sudden action, Viola runs away from the clown. The clown throws roses with sharp thorns at Viola, and when one of them hits her on her harm, Viola falls down in pain. Unable to move, Viola watches the clown getting closer and closer to her - not knowing why the clown is attacking her, Viola starts to tear up again. At that moment, she sees that the clown is consuming more tear drops as it is getting closer to her. Viola realizes that her tears turn into gems in this world, and that her tears are what have been giving more power to the clown. Thinking about what she can do to get herself out of the situation, Viola sees that there is a garden scissor next to her. Decided on what she is going to do, Viola throws few of her tear gems across the garden, and the clown gets distracted by this action. When the clown is turned around, facing the tear drops that had been thrown, Viola grabs the garden scissors quickly and stabs the clown with it in its back. The clown starts throwing up the tear drops he had consumed and loses all of its power.

After the clown loses all of its power, Viola successfully escapes the weird world and safely returns to her room. It is bright outside, indicating that it is early morning, and Viola is throwing out the toy clown. For a moment, Viola looks at the special flower that she brought with her, and then eventually throws it away with the toy clown.

🎧 ✏️ I was going through old drives and found pencil tests to my old thesis film from college. I remember seeing them sometimes and always wondering if I’d ever post them up, or the actual project, and then I never do - for a bunch of different reasons. During most of my last year of college I was going to different doctors and hospitals for breast cancer tests - so I wasn’t able to work at school for a lot of the year. I want to think I did the best I could on my thesis film with the time I had, but looking back I knew I could’ve done better if I focused more, spent more time in the studios or handled doctor’s appointments better, etc. Either way, I always feel a little weird seeing my last school project, just because I’ll associate it with everything else that happened while I was working on it.
