(personal) CQL/MDZS Age List
okay so i love THE Masterlist by TheWickling and i refer back to it a lot for remembering stuff but a lot of my personal headcanons conflict with "canon" ages (or as close to canon as the whole community has gotten) so I just wanted to write down my own with some side commentary to explain my choices.
It's not really canon breaking, just some slight tweaks for my own mental sake. (if you ever read my fics this would be the ages i would follow even unspoken). just add or take off a year depending if you wanted to be specific about birthdays cause i didnt lol
this follows a kind of mashup of the drama and the books timelines, because i like how they include a-yao more in the drama :)
anyways - ill put it under the cut
Character - Cloud Recesses - End of SSC - 1st Siege - 2nd Siege
Wei Ying - 16 - 21 - 23 - (MXY is 26, WWX would have been 36)
I think him being a year older than JC and having waited until his brother could go to cloud recesses is very him, also him being older than LWJ before his death then younger after is very funny to me
it also makes his teasing calling LWJ "gege" even more teasing
Lan Wangji / Jiang Cheng / Wen Ning - 15 - 20 - 22 - 35
nothing to really say here, this is canon ages for this group, applies to most other side characters present at CR schooling
Nie Huaisang - 18 - 23 - 25 - 38
mr "maybe ill graduate this year" is on record as having repeated schooling at CR on more than one occasion. I really like the idea of him lying about his age because he has a babyface but everyone knowing he's full of bullshit
Jin Zixuan / Jin Guangyao - 19 - 24 - 26 - 39
im in the "born on the same day means exact same day" camp, also the alternative of a-yao being still in his early teens but being a confidant to Wen Ruohan during the war and that doesnt seem like something he'd to tbh
i know this doesnt make much sense for JZX and being at cloud recesses so late but it's the only piece that doesnt fit so- again, creative license here. It matches up to everything else except that.
Jiang Yanli / Wen Qing / Lan Xichen - 20 - 25 - 27 - 40
JYL and JZX parents were "pregnant around the same" doesn't really read as "five years apart" but i know that she's older than him.
LXC is still "junior age" but like- he's cutting it close. Older than JGY and younger than NMJ so we're all good there
also bonus points to the power thruple for all have older siblings that are the same age lol
Nie Mingjue - 22 - 27 - 29 - (died at 30-31)
i think this is a good bridge for his and his brothers ages, in the movie they dont really look only 1-2 years apart in age, but definitely not like 6-7 years so having NHS be older than his canon age makes more sense to me again
Jin Ling - x - 0 - 2 - 15
canon age *shrugs*
Lan Sizhui / Lan Jingyi / Ouyang Zichen - x - 3 - 5 - 18
i like these three being the same age and Jin Ling being the runt of the quartet, kind of a reversal of the JC/WWX/NHS/LWJ quad
also just a side note, A-yuan talks way to much to be only 2 during the burial mounds arc LMAO (yes i know the actor was 7 but like- hes similar in the other works)
#the untamed#cql#mxtx mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#jin guangyao#nie huaisang#idk im not tagging anyone else lol#my stuff#again just my own HCs sorry if you dont like *shrug*

15 Day BL Challenge
The full challenge can be found here!
☆*:.。. Day 5: Biggest Flop .。.:*☆
I will not linger on shows I expected to be mediocre that turned out very bad, because it does not feel like a flop if I expected it to fail I suppose?
Because the disappointment is still so fresh in my mind, I will say Absolute Zero. I wanted to love this one so much, it started so very strong with everything I love in New Siwaj’s work – the pacing, the melancholy, a top of the line cast with beautiful photography – it had such a good potential story wise (time travel!!)… and then it kept fumbling the ball and struggling and so to this day, I still haven’t finished it.
I will get back to it one day, but it did not work for me as a week-to-week thing and I got too frustrated with the storytelling along the way. So, yes, I that’s probably my worst flop watch recently because my hopes were so high.
Regarding older show, I will bring up My Dream. I watched this one as it aired, and I remember loving it, the concept, the actors, the characters (the ladies were fantastic!!), the romances, the mystery.
GIF by thewickling
There were theories and speculations and then… it stumbled and went to weird, even unpleasant places (I am still so upset at what happened to Yim and how the show treated it), and gave us such unsatisfactory conclusions to everything I still harbor resentment about it.
#BLChallenge2k24#Absolute Zero the series#My Dream the series#there is a post that says if you enjoy something flawed/bad you will keep obsessing about it forever#it's me with My Dream actually#like I do think about Good/Elle about four times a year and mourn the wasted potential

🍵Wen Ning is not a cinnabon roll. He just looks like one :P
strongly agree | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
i KNOW that agreeing and disagreeing maybe should just fall into neutral, but i don’t think i’m neutral about it!! I think i agree AND i disagree depending on what part is emphasized.
agree: one of my favorite bits of characterization about wen ning is the moment in chapter 73 when jiang cheng is like “wtf why is he so fierce now that he’s dead wasn’t he timid in life” and wei wuxian says his piece about how it’s precisely because he was timid and took all of his hatred and rage and anxiety and fear and put it away that his resentment was so powerful. i think it’s also worth noting that wen ning, independent of wei wuxian, loses control at jinlin tai when he goes for his own execution and kills 30+ more cultivators, mostly Lan, which we never really get an explanation for (i have. written this scene. >:3c), but adds to the idea that his resentment isn’t just like, a new feature of his death that only wei wuxian can manipulate and bring out after he regains his consciousness, but that it’s a very real part of him. i like that A Lot. so yes, i agree: I don’t think wen ning is a cinnabon roll in the sense that he is lovely and sweet and pure all the way down.
disagree: having a deep well of anger and rage doesn’t disqualify you from being a cinnamon roll imo lol bc no one is a cinnamon roll in that case. so maybe what i actually take issue with is the definition of cinnamon roll alskdjflskjf i think it is completely possible to be anxious and nervous and easily cowed, to be genuinely distressed and horrified by the idea of causing harm, while simultaneously sheltering an equally genuine well of fury. am i projecting? yes, 100%, but i mean, proof of concept. i think most people who know me, both IRL and online think of me as pretty cinnamon rolly lol and my distaste for hurting people is very real. however, my intense hatred and rage is also real -- i just try really hard not to act on them because the idea of doing so is often horrifying to me. does the fact that someone feels negative, aggressive emotions mean they’re not good and sweet? /shrug
also, i’ve seen people claim that “saying wen ning is a precious cinnamon roll is ableist” and that take makes me lose my shit because it’s so ridiculous, so I will in fact say, yes wen ning is a fucking cinnamon roll you can fight me about it and i will be defending him with the power of my spite thank u and good night

Give the MRIAD boys a drunk hook up first meeting.
With work the next day and bills piling up, Lu Yao knew he shouldn’t have had the third glass of baijiu. Much less the second glass of Laphroaig. Or whatever was in the glass the very handsome man next to him had slid over.
But it was only because of that last glass that Lu Yao ignored the voice in his head telling him that this charming man, dressed so richly sharp and fine that Lu Yao was envious, was dangerous. But even without that voice, it was written so plainly in the cut of his jaw, the arch of his brows, and the sharp slash of his smile. Even through Lu Yao’s suit jacket, the man’s hand was broad and warm.
Lu Yao wasn’t entirely sure he swung that way, he’d only ever dated women. But as the man stepped closer, his lips just brushing the shell of Lu Yao’s ear, the smell of his aftershave washing over him, Lu Yao let himself go.
After all, Lu Yao came from a long line of scholars and how could he say he wasn’t into something without trying it first? It would be a dishonor to his ancestors to claim to know something without study first. At least, that was what the alcohol told him.
So Lu Yao let himself be lead away, following broad shoulders and a slim waist.
When Lu Yao, at last, fell back against soft cotton sheets, the alcohol had started to wear thin. Lu Yao opened his mouth to suggest that maybe he should leave, but instead found himself kissed to within an inch of his life. Never had he kissed someone that made his toes curl and body shiver. Never had he wanted to give up air so badly in order to have lips back on his again. Never had he had such reverent hands sweep over his body, as if the heat in their wake could turn his nerves to ash.
And for sure, Lu Yao had never felt so firm and strong a body under his hands in his life, and the feeling was certainly appreciated.
“Y-your name,” Lu Yao gasped out as the man bit his collarbone and Lu Yao grasped at his muscular shoulders. “What’s your name?”
“Qiao Chusheng,” he replied. “Feel free to say it as practice.”
“C-chushen-gggg...”
“Yeah...” Chusheng said with a smile against Lu Yao’s nipple before he bit it again. “Just like that.”
The rest of the night fell away in a haze Lu Yao wasn’t sure he wanted to disperse. But he was certain he’d never felt so thoroughly wrung out before. He’d also never had an orgasm that felt like a pleasurable punch to the gut.
But the next morning, Lu Yao woke up to an empty bed, youtiao on the table with coffee for breakfast, and a note telling him he was free to leave and to make sure the door was shut when he did. Lu Yao took a moment to wander the rooms of the apartment, noting the fine furniture and decorations. The thought of milking the association for all it was worth was tempting, but the sight of the clock telling Lu Yao he had only half an hour to get to work from whatever corner of Shanghai he’d ended up in dismissed the issue as he ran out of the room.
Days later, as Lu Yao left from the back of his apartment complex to avoid the police officers, a familiar face greeted him and wished him good morning. Lu Yao instinctively touched his neck where a large bruise had been left as an artifact of that night beyond his notice until a coworker pointed it out. Chusheng smirked and shifted his weight. Lu Yao took a moment to appraise his dashing figure in uniform before making an excuse and running for it.

You should totally write your werewolf AU with mermaids and I can continue doing dramatic slow burn sads and fandom will double benefit.
You are just full of great ideas!! Tbh, I’ve been tossing around ideas for the current wangxian werewolf au (mostly from LSZ’s perspective, like how does it feel for him to be the only human in a werewolf pack?) but i also love mermaids.
This a more lighthearted continuation of the original post that takes place not too long after LWJ finds out WWX is afraid of dogs.
–
It comes out when they’re camping.
Why are they camping? Because LWJ is a sucker who goes weak in the knees whenever WWX bats his eyelashes at him, that’s why. LWJ had started pulling away, putting some time and distance between them, but then WWX asked him if they were still going on the camping trip we hardly get to see each other any more, he pouted. LWJ caved like–like–like a thing that caves very easily. LWJ doesn’t know, okay? He can’t think when WWX looks at him like that.
In his defense, when they originally planned the trip, LWJ was certain his family secret wouldn’t have been a secret to WWX anymore and he was going to take the opportunity to show off demonstrate, demonstrate his wolfy prowess.
But no, that can never happen now, can it?
So here they are. Camping. Well, hiking currently with the intentions of setting up camp. Somewhere. And there are mosquitoes everywhere. And LWJ cannot put on his wolf-skin. LWJ is not having a good time. The outdoors are much more fun when he’s furry and on all fours. How do humans tolerate this? he wonders as he watches WWX practically skipping up ahead, absolutely reeking of mosquito repellent. It’s disgusting. LWJ misses WWX’s natural scent.
“Lan Zhan, look! There’s a cave up ahead!!” WWX exclaimed. “We should go explore it. Maybe it has bats. Bats are so cute, don’t you think? I love their little faces and how they squeak!”
Cute?! Bats have rabies, which kills humans because humans are fragile, and WWX is very very human. But no, there he goes bounding ahead without a care in the world. If LWJ were not a werewolf, he’s sure he’d have succumbed to a stress-induced heart attack by now.
“Wei Ying, be cautious!” LWJ tells him and grits his teeth when WWX laughs it off.
“Don’t be such a fuddy-duddy, Lan Zhan. Where’s your sense of adventure?” he twirls around to aim a sunny grin at him. LWJ’s breath catches even as warmth pools in his chest. This is why he’s here, enduring the mosquitoes and smelly repellent and possibly rabid bats. Because he would do anything to keep that smile on WWX’s face.
The corner of his lips tick upward for a hint of a smile, but it seems WWX notices it anyway because his own smile grows wider. He runs back to LWJ and grabs him by the arm. He proceeds to all but drag LWJ into the cave.
“Come on, hurry up. You’re so slow,” WWX shoots him a teasing look. “Is it because your legs are shorter than mine?”
LWJ gives him a flat look and refuses to answer. WWX’s laugh rings and echoes in the cave. They slow to a more leisurely pace as they explore. The cool air in the cave is a welcome change after hiking in the sun for what felt like hours. After awhile, WWX huffs and lets himself fall to the ground dramatically.
“There’s not a bat in sight. What kind of cave doesn’t have bats in it?” he pouts.
LWJ lowers himself much more gracefully to sit next to him. The moment he does so, WWX scoots up close to him and leans his head on his shoulder with a dramatic whimper.
“I’m so disappointed. Distraught! I cannot go on,” WWX says, pressing even closer. LWJ catches a whiff of his scent under the fading smell of the repellent. “Let’s take a break here, Lan Zhan, so I can mend my broken heart.”
“Mn,” LWJ agrees mostly because he’s enjoying having WWX close. Catching his scent was dizzying in the best way.
As they sit there against the cool cave wall, LWJ feels WWX’s body slowly relax. His breath starts to slow. In a sleepy tone, he mutters into LWJ’s shoulder, “I’m glad we’re here. I’ve missed you.”
LWJ’s response (I’ve missed you too, I love you, please never leave me) sticks to the back of his teeth and refuses to come out. By the time he manages to hum in agreement, WWX had dozed off, his body limp and trusting against him.
LWJ allows himself to press his nose against the crown of WWX’s head and breathe in deep. Just for a moment, just this one time…
–
LWJ wakes to the sound of WWX hissing his name.
“Lan Zhan, wake up. There’s something in here.”
LWJ blinks his eyes open and sees WWX’s worried expression.
“I don’t know what it is but it sounds big. We need to get out,” WWX continues to whisper. LWJ smoothly goes into a crouch and motions at WWX to stay quiet. He cocks his head slightly towards where the shuffling, scraping sound was coming from.
This was not how LWJ wanted his day to go. First mosquitoes, which are absolutely awful, and now this? Gripping WWX’s hand, he starts to slowly guide them towards the entrance of the cave. Unfortunately they did not get too far before WWX stepped on something that made a loud crunch. They look down.
“Bones? Bones? How did we miss that before?” WWX whispered somewhat hysterically, but it was mostly drowned out by a snarl coming from somewhere behind them and way too close. Immediately, LWJ shoves WWX down the path that would lead to the mouth of the cave. He hears WWX stumble behind him but his eyes are locked on a great lumbering creature shuffling towards them from deeper within the cave.
“What the fuck is that thing?!?”
“Wei Ying.”
“I wanted to see bats. This the opposite of bats. It looks like a mutated bear, why is there a mutated bear–”
The creature – a yaoguai, possibly, LWJ thinks – meets his eyes. LWJ takes a calculated risk and flashes his gold eyes at it. Most creatures back down in the presence of a werewolf, so it’s possible they could entirely avoid a confrontation. The creature lets out a roar that leaves his ears ringing.
Well. That didn’t work. But he could still distract it. He could still keep it occupied so WWX could get away safely. He’s taken down big creatures before when they trespassed GusuLan territory.
“Wei Ying, run.”
“Yes, yes, we have to run. Why are you just standing there?!”
LWJ opened his mouth to respond, to entreat WWX to go on ahead and to trust him on this, but the creature was now running towards them and there was no time. Which was okay, really, because that meant he couldn’t dwell on the fact that this was probably the last time WWX will ever want to be near him.
Between one breath and the next, LWJ slipped into his fur and launched himself at the creature.
--
LWJ all but collapses on his side, great heaving pants whistling past his fangs. Whatever that creature was, it had tasted awful. His injuries were starting to stitch together, but that did nothing to remove the grime from his usually pristine white coat. His ears twitch back, catching the sound of someone shifting behind him. His tail wagged weakly when he realized who it was.
Wei Ying, Wei Ying is here!
But Wei Ying is scared of dogs
LWJ curled in on himself with a soft whine. Before he could get too distressed (emotions were simpler in his wolf form but they also felt much much bigger), WWX appeared in front of him. WWX was crouched in front of him and his hands were smoothing down the scruff of his neck, checking for injuries.
“Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, that was terrifying and so cool, and I’m grateful you saved my life,” WWX let out a put-upon sigh. His hands were now rubbing down his side. “But, you just lost me so much money. I’m poor, Lan Zhan! I can’t afford to lose money!”
LWJ blinked at him. WWX liked to ramble but usually LWJ can follow his train of thought. This? This made no sense...on the other hand, he did get walloped on the head a bit during that fight. WWX must have sensed his confusion somehow.
“I thought you were fey!!” WWX exclaimed. “You were just too pretty to be human, you know? Like Xiao Xingchen. He’s beautiful and he’s fey.”
LWJ squashed down the urge to immediately go hunt down this XXC person and tear into him. The adrenaline was addling his mind, obviously, since such thoughts of violence are unbecoming of GusuLan wolves. Wait, did WWX just call him pretty...?
“But Jiang Cheng said you weren’t that good looking! I couldn’t let him slander you like that! I had to defend your honor!! So I bet him you were fey and now I owe him a ton of money,” as WWX rambled, his hands wander, aimless now that he’d seen all the wounds had healed. They brush against his belly and his tail wags involuntarily.
WWX definitely notices, if the devious grin was anything to go by. Suddenly LWJ was getting the belly rub of his life. His tail wagged frenetically because everything was perfect. LWJ just took down a huge kill in front of WWX and he was impressed, and now WWX was laughing and petting him.
“Wow, you’re much more expressive as a wolf than in your human skin.”
And there popped his happy bubble. LWJ scrambled onto all fours and skittered away because WWX is scared of dogs, WWX will hate him. LWJ switched out of his wolf-skin so fast it nearly gave him whiplash.
WWX frowned. “Is it safe for you to change back so soon? Your wounds just barely finished healing.”
LWJ was confused. “You’re...not scared?”
“The bear-thing’s dead, what’s there to be scared of?” WWX’s brow was furrowed in the most adorable way. LWJ shook away the thought. He can’t get distracted. He had to focus and use his words, as LXC was constantly reminding him.
“...dogs?”
With a yelp, LWJ suddenly had a scared WWX clutching the back of his shirt.
“There’s a dog?? WHERE? Lan Zhan, scare it away!!”
LWJ shook his head. Words, words, he needed to use words. Why was communication so much harder in human form?
“No dogs. Me.”
WWX’s frantic grasping stilled before flipping LWJ around to face him. He looked furious.
“Lan Zhan, who called you a dog? I will beat them up right now. You’re not a dog, Lan Zhan. Dogs are mindless mean animals that bite for no reason. Werewolves are people.”
“Oh.”
There’s a moment of silence as LWJ absorbs the impact of WWX’s words. Relief courses through him as he realizes that WWX is not afraid of him. Not one bit. Werewolves are people. He knew he could trust WWX with his secret.
Then he processes the rest of the conversation and frowns.
“Wei Ying, how do you know about the fey? And werewolves?” It didn’t make sense. Humans don’t know about these things. And their senses are not sharp enough to perceive most of their kind. WWX gives him an odd look.
“Lan Zhan, I was adopted by the Jiang family.”
LWJ blinks. He knows this already. What did that have to do with anything?
“...you know the Jiangs are merfolk, right?”
No, LWJ did not know that.
“You didn’t catch the fish smell? Nie Huaisang says my siblings smell like fish all the time. How did you miss that?” WWX laughs. LWJ felt his ears go warm.
“I was distracted.”
“By what? Nie Huaisang made it sound like it’s completely overpowering!”
“Your scent.”
“Aww, Lan Zhan, are you saying I smell better than fish? You flatterer,” WWX laughs again.
Like his scent is a joke. Like barely rates higher than fish when his scent is all LWJ can think about some days. Well, that’s enough of that. LWJ has had a long, stressful day full of mosquitoes, monster fights, and world-breaking revelations, and even he has his limits.
LWJ grasps the back of WWX’s neck and brings him in close. LWJ’s nose trails along WWX’s neck, taking a lungful of that wonderful, delicious scent. As he breathes in, he smells a thread of arousal seeping into WWX’s scent.
“Lan Zhan,” WWX squeaks. LWJ can hear his heart quicken.
“Wei Ying smells better than fish,” he responds, thrilling as his lips just barely brush against WWX’s racing pulse-point. He feels and hears WWX’s gasp. He brushes his face along the crook of WWX’s neck once more before taking a full step back.
He takes a moment to admire WWX’s stunned, dreamy expression before turning on his heel and marching out of the cave. He’s had a long day and his restraint is in tatters (at least i didn’t lick him, he thinks guiltily as his actions catch up to him, that counts for something, doesn’t it?). He needed a nap or drink of water or something.
Behind him, WWX snaps out of his daze.
“W-Wait, what does that mean? I don’t smell like fish? Lan Zhan, wait for me! What do I smell like? LAN ZHAN.”
Huh.
It was kind of nice having WWX chase after him for a change.

Would you rather live in Shattered Mirror or Double Happiness for a week?
Double Happiness, for sure!! It’s a lot of fun and there are pretty people in pretty, flowy clothing flying around hahaha
Also just to be on the sidelines watching WangXian flirt would be A+++ (but also super cringe from second-hand embarrassment because of WWX)

I was going to watch Fatal Journey to see if I could slap it over my NHS case study but that plot sounds wild and I prefer my soloquiy like reveal of NHS's inner self
I mean, the plot is kinda whatever, but I found the characters to be pretty true to the feel of the original. NHS really gets to shine quite a bit in this with his intelligence and love of his brother, and even being quite brave. As I said, you really get to see what he might have been like as a leader if he’d been able to come into adulthood without the tragic loss of NMJ and his plot for revenge.
But if you’re currently writing, I totally understand wanting not to taint your interpretation too much. That’s why I really wanted to finish my NMJ/JGY fic before this aired. But I do think you should watch it after you’re finished. It really is ALL about the sibling and NHS feels.

I don't think you can directly compare WWX and SY's levels of obliviousness because SVSS is a parody of Chinese xianxia stallion novel genre. It like the Scream movies. Dialing it to like nine thousand is supposed to be funny but also a very hit or miss. But you're kind of not intended to suspend your disbelief but more scream at it like it's a low grade B-rated movie
😂😂😂 holy shit you’re right about the screaming bc that’s all i’ve been doing

mdzs rough timeline
this isn’t meant to be definite! I’m mostly posting this so that @thewickling can take a look and see if there’s anything helpful in here while she finishes crafting her frankly incredibly referenced timeline. or so we can debate finer points lmao, though she definitely has the upper hand on research.
here’s what I have put together, though the dates used are re: Lan Wangji’s age, not in relation to Wei Wuxian’s death. Things I’m unsure about are marked with (?), and there are a lot of events that could take place in a range of dates that I’ve kind of just stuck in there for the sake of having them marked. I haven’t cross-referenced this in a while, and it’s working largely off of memory ;;; I just edited a bunch of this on the fly in the text editor HAHA so this may be off in several ways. I may eventually edit this into something more cohesive, but for now. have this mess.

*Yueyang Chang massacre is stated to take place 10 years prior to the present, which would put it at year 24, but Jin Guangshan must be alive for at least a time afterwards—Jin Guangshan’s death is stated to take place 11 years prior to the present, which puts it at year 23. I’m prioritizing JGS’s death, because Lan Wangji describes the tragedy of Xiao Xingchen as taking place 1-2 years after Wei Wuxian’s death (being bedridden, he cannot pursue the issue), thus it makes sense that YYC massacre takes place earlier than stated.

Lan Xichen tells Wei Wuxian the story of their parents

Second prompt that gege kink plus + pair of your choice.
Okay heads up, this fic is about WenWu from CTL. If any of you are not into that, please just skip it and don’t bother me about it. Okay, thanks, bye.
------
“Hey, uh, gege?” Wang Zhenwen poked his step-brother’s arm, not noticing how Wang Zhenwu stiffened shortly after. “Hey, I’m talking to you!”
Wang Zhenwu turned to face him slowly. “What?”
“I said, I’m talking to you, gege.”
Zhenwu shifted slightly. “You’re...” He looked away. “You’re calling me-”
“Gege. You’re older than me, so I can call you that, can’t I?” Zhenwen tugged on Zhenwu’s arm. “Zhenwu-ge?”
“Ah... there’s really no need-”
“Gegeeeeeeee...” Zhenwen tugged on Zhenwu’s arm again. “I really want something. Can’t you talk to me? Please, gege?”
Zhenwu fought the rising feeling of blood flowing to his cheeks and anywhere else. “Uh, of course but-”
“Gege...” Zhenwen hugged Zhenwu’s arm and looked up at him with wide eyes. It was supposed to just be cute, Zhenwu was sure of that, and yet he found his heart pounding away at a furious pace. “Gege, can we go out today? I’ve been working really hard. I even finished all my homework.”
“Um I mean-” Zhenwu tried to pull his arm away, but it was halfhearted at best. “Of course we can. But you really don’t have to keep-”
“Do you like it?” Zhenwen asked in a lower voice. “Do you like it when I call you gege?”
This time there was no helping it and Zhenwu’s face turned bright red. “I-it do-d-doesn’t sound s-s-so bad...”
“Gege...” Zhenwen rested his head against Zhenwu’s shoulder and continued to look up at him. “I can do so much more than just call you gege, if you want.”
Although both he and Zhenwen had agreed to take their time in sorting out their relationship, Zhenwu couldn’t help the images that suddenly ran across his mind. “Uhhhhh....”
“Dage...” Zhenwen whispered into his ear. “Let’s go out first and then we’ll see what happens.”
Zhenwu shivered. “Y-yeah... Okay...”
(Later on, Zhenwu would find that it was Xia Yuhao’s idea to tell Zhenwen to call him gege in such a manner. But at that point, after what had been a very interesting afternoon and evening, Zhenwu couldn’t find it in himself to care.)

I was checking reblogs and I saw your tags. The Mo Xuanyu timeline isn't currently up to date but MXY dies in the year he could have turned 27. He could still be 26 or he could be 27 so you have even more time. I added a list at the end with years and ages characters would be.
oh thank you! lol i should have scrolled to the end, i was trying to do all the character age math from the dates provided. thank you for all your hard work!!

9 10 60
thank you soooo much!
9. A Fanon You Dislikehmm….i know i wrote these questions but i don’t think there’s a fanon i dislike….there’s more like an assortment of popular head canons that i wouldn’t co-sign
. lan wangji hitting wei wuxian in a kinky way
. comparisons between xue yang & wei wuxian saying wei wuxian could have turned out like him if it weren’t for the yunmeng clan taking him in, or just the general idea that wei wuxian could’ve ended up like xue yang (maybe that’s more connected to my beef with xue yang in canon :””D )
i think those are my biggest pet peeves atm? or at least i came across them quite often.
10. Favourite Fanfic Set-UpUhhhh!!! I love me powerful Yiling Patriarch stories where he survives the second sunshot campaign and anything and everything that focuses on the Yunmeng brothers relationship after canon. Also: every fanfic about the WangXian family regardless of universe.
some great “bamf!wei wuxian survives the second sunshot campaign and adopts everyone” fics i am currently reading:
Death of a Ghost by Gotcocomilk (also great Yunmeng brothers reunion fic)The storm comes and goes (and I keep walking) by Naamah_Beherit
60. Character Developmentuhhhhhhhh..there’s a bunch of characters I adore but at the moment I have a lot fo thoughts about Jiang Cheng!
he really isn’t a good guy after wei wuxian dies (more so in the novel) and i love how complex and warped his story is. there’s never a point where i don’t understand his actions, but he is also super infuriating.
The Untamed / MDZS ask game
