Why have I not seen LITERALLY ANYONE talk about how in Erak’s Ransom, when Will saves the group, Horace yells “Will!!” And holds up his tied hands AND WILL SHOOTS IT AND FREES HIM??? LIKE THAT WAS SO COOL WHY DO WE NEVER TALK ABOUT THAT????? The fact that, number one, Horace knew Will was skilled enough to do it, number two, Horace TRUSTED Will not to shoot his hand, number three, Will understood what Horace wanted him to do, and finally, the fact that WILL WAS ABLE TO DO IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?? Now obviously rangers are very trained and blah blah blah but THATS STILL BADASS????

need to talk about tennis player annabeth

the game is all about strategy. know your opponent and figure out how to beat them. annabeth does that on the daily already, either in battle or sparring for practice. she's extremely perceptive and would immediately clock her opponent's quirks, maybe how their backhand is weak. and while she would still do good in doubles, I think she would really thrive in singles.

she would not play a team sport like basketball or soccer. not that she's not a team player, but she prefers only having to rely on herself and maybe one other.

she's already skilled with her hands from wielding a knife and various weapons since she was practically a baby. she'd love tricking her opponent with slices or underspin.

her reflexes are naturally quick for a demigod and she's definitely a fast runner, which would be really useful for singles where she might have to run all the way across the court.

I also think percy's brain would short circuit when he sees her in a tennis skirt

anyway I just think if annabeth ever played a sport in high school it would 100% be tennis.

Episode 2: The Stranger on the Roof

Welcome once again to CandleCove Island. I decided against adding more characters this time because Milo, Horace, and Skin-Taker haven't really met anyone yet, and I wanted to give them time to acclimate to their new environment. But I'm glad I didn't because I have the feeling a particular friendship wouldn't have formed if I did....

FRIENDSHIP

Poppy made friends with Horace.

Percy made friends with Skin-Taker.

Skin-Taker made friends with Horace.

Skin-Taker made friends with Janice.

Percy and Poppy had a minor fight (about what, I don't know), but they worked it out.

Skin-Taker made friends with Poppy, and not only that, but 2 minutes after they met, they became best friends.

Let's see how long this lasts.

FOOD

Janice and Horace had some very specific cravings that day.

I couldn't actually give them those foods because the food store just opened and it only has about 20 items in stock total, so instead I gave Janice popcorn (which she didn't like) and Horace octopus (which he did like).

Speaking of being picky...

CLOTHING

Wh... "jewel dress"??

Buddy. This is THE most expensive clothing item in the game. Who do you think I am? (He didn't even ask nicely, geez!)

I did give him a different dress, but he wasn't quite satisfied with it.

Maybe he wanted to show off to other pirates how much jewels and treasure he has? I don't know.

Janice, Horace, and Skin-Taker also asked for clothes, and I figured I'd give Poppy and Milo something as well so they wouldn't have to keep wearing the default clothes.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Milo asked for an interior, so I got him one.

I don't think it suits him that well (it looks way too clean and stylish), but the interior store didn't have a lot of selection.

Also, I unfortunately can't change Horace's and Skin-Taker's hellish checkerboard interiors because I haven't made that much money in this game yet. Milo's interior alone cost me half my savings.

I gave Skin-Taker this thing called a "rent-a-cat coupon," so now a cat will come visit him sometimes.

I also gave Milo a punching bag so he could have a healthy outlet for his violent tendencies.

Also, I don't have video evidence of this, but please believe me when I say Milo farted LOUDLY, MULTIPLE TIMES while I was scrolling through the apartments. He disgusts me.

I gave Horace and Skin-Taker catchphrases.

Everyone wanted to take baths that day for some reason? And asking me to give them bath sets?

Probably because of Milo's farty ass stinking up the apartment building and making everyone want to wash the smell off themselves...

Janice tried to sell me some octopus.

Milo had a strange experience that day...

you want to see who they are at their core. your love smiles for you. they put on a brave face. they tell you off when you're out of line and they encourage you when you know your mistakes are piling up. they're the one who is always there. but there are moments you catch them unawares and that is when you watch them. you want to see the expression their face takes when they aren't being brave for you. you want to see how they smile when it isn't designed to lift your own burdens. you want to see what they say to everyone else. how they talk about you. how everyone else encourages them or if they let anyone be there at all. you want to see what is underneath it all so you can prove that's who you love. the parts of them they try to hide. the parts they think you don't already know and adore.

when they're unaware

they don't always see you. but that's a good thing. this is when you love them most. when they are so absorbed in their thoughts you can just sit there and enjoy them existing. it's the way they move through the world which made you fall in love. the grace with which they walk their path. the stubbornness. the dedication. they know their place in the universe and somehow, that makes you feel a little more confident in your existence too. they know who and what they are and there is nothing more beautiful to you than the ability to witness it all. in the simple things and the big things. the expressions they make when they think no one is looking. the way they laugh when they're not holding back. the little swears under their breath for no one but themselves. you love it all and you want to spend the rest of your life being their life's witness.

when they're working

see this is what you love most. their eyes light up and no one can do it quite like them. whether they are a fighter or a healer. whether they are full of grace and gentle poise, or brute strength and wild energy, you love them when they are at their purest form. raw and unfettered. unadulterated by social cues and careful masks we all wear. when they are just them, trusting their instincts, using their experience, relying on the skills they earned. this is when you heart swells with pride. and you can never decide if you want to interrupt them and draw them into your arms with a hungry, appreciative kiss. or if you could sit there and quietly observe them for hours with more satisfaction than anything physical could bring.

& i will say, one of the things i love most about writing with @thosefiveadoraburrs is that characterization wise, we got all our bases covered. i relate to callum the most yet have rayla has my favourite. they relate to rayla the most yet have callum as their favourite. any aspects of callum i don’t relate to (mostly his selective loyalty and skepticism) are things they relate to; any aspects of rayla they don’t relate to (mostly being so governed by morality / impulsivity) are aspects of her i relate to. it makes writing either of them very very easy
