Started reading Heart of Thomas thinking it will be just ok, it's an old manga after all, one of the first in its genre, it will surely have many flaws
and then it turns out to be one of the best things i've read in a while, the plot is very intriguing, the characters are simply amazing, the way they interact feels pretty realistic even though the events happening are wild
The way it deals with relationships, with love in a broad sense of word, with self-discovery with beliefs is not that i expected at all, and it's easy to see how many authors after probably took inspirations from different parts of this story
it's incredibly sad but also very hopeful
and it reminded me of Nabari no Ou a lot, cause those stories share at least one of the themes but explore it in different ways, and it's beautiful
It has real awful horrors happening to literal teens but it also has these teens support each other, care for each other, share happy moments together and well heal and grow
Therapy would've probably solved half of their problems, but they work with that they have with major losses but still there are good things they gain in the end
I really wish more people knew about it now
LO stan brain rot is vehemently defending a comic that you're swiping through so fast that you miss and forget crucial plot points, like thinking Demophoon was the reason for Demeter being a helicopter parent despite him being born during the 10 year time skip while Demeter was mortal.
LO anti/critic/hater brain rot is being able to look at an out-of-context panel of a character with same face syndrome turned greyscale and name exactly which character, scene, and episode it's from.

Summary:
At first, there were only names.
Yusuf of the Kaysanites, pious and sure and cunning like my merchant father before me. Yusuf, a strong, godly name, given and taken by no one but myself. It was the name with which I carried myself to my new life, to the walls of al-Quds. I could not have predicted, at the time, the violence that would befall her. Her, that was the land that was holy, and her, that was me. A merchant’s daughter from Mahdia, who carried an old sword and a new story.
Clary!!
I had a dream with her in it (among other nomai) and I remember very distinctly that she had beautiful hazel eyes. So I decided to give her a design to go along with them!!
You don’t understand how long i wanted to ask you this, but how on earth did you get so good at drawing robots??? Like the way you draw v1 and v2 and sometimes other machines are just so ✨✨✨✨ Like i rly wanna try and get good at drawing machines but y’know,,, they’re hard :( So i was just wondering if you had tips or suggestions on how to get good at robots :]
Also, I would ask a million billion questions about your interpretations of the Ultrakill cast or the Fallen au, but everyone else stole the cool questions already ;u;
I just really enjoy your interpretation of both Gabriel and v1 ,,

waauauuughghghgh thank you so much!!!! i will say upfront that i'm self-taught, so i might not have the best tips or the right technique, but i can tell you what works for me personally!! honestly i didn't really draw robots/machines like this before getting into ultrakill, with a lot of my art before this centered on human characters. but really, when you look at how v1/v2 are structured, they're not that different from humanoid anatomy, especially once you remove their wingpacks. so honestly? when i rough in v1/v2, i just rough in a regular human shape for the most part because that comes much more naturally to me as an artist. additionally, i don't try to make myself use sharp angles and hard lines - some artists are INCREDIBLE at making them look super machine-like and industrial with particular attention to their proper mechanics which i absolutely love aesthetically and greatly admire, but i'm no good at it! so i use much more organic lines and skirt the rules of how a robot would be able to move and bend. like if you look at a lot of my pieces closely, you can see that i'll bend their hands in a way that doesn't square with hard metal, or i have their arms positioned in a way their construction wouldn't seem to allow. so i think of them and draw them actually much more like an evangelion with flexible bodies and organic shapes.
and since visuals would help a lot here, i do have a couple older asks detailing how i draw the head and body for v1/v2 - i've changed my style a bit since then, but the steps are exactly the same as i draw them now! heads are here and bodies are here!
Tossing and turning in bed plagued by visions (Ed Edgar headcanons that are definitely just me projecting my cowboy ass autistic interest in strange animals onto him bc he too is a strange southern man with autistic swag)
Happy Moon Landing Day! My mom gave me this stamp awhile ago to "prove this country used to care about scientific achievement and progress" which seems very on theme! (let's not spoil it rn by getting into how much it was actually about "beating the commies")
Out of curiosity I looked it up, and it actually came in a two stamp set:
They're not specifically moon landing exclusive, but meant to commemorate the whole decade from Alan Shepard's spaceflight through Apollo 15 which was the first mission to use the Lunar Roving Vehicle (aka Moon Buggy).
might as well post plans about the oc comic here too that'll go up on webtoon if i ever actually make it
name of the comic is currently A Martyr, a Maker. and yes i Am an ao3 author Why Do You Ask
religious horror! except the religion is one i made up for the sake of the story. the protagonist, the only prophet of that God to exist for the last two hundred years and works as a priest is asked for a favour from a detective friend, who asks him to check if this criminal who randomly turned himself in is possessed or smthn. prophet guy realises criminal guy is haunted by the Monsters™ that only he knows about. ensue world's worst team up to fight basically demons with
concept refs for the two mcs. Thomas Green (the prophet) and Austin Kain. the religion in this involves a lot of mask imagery. maybe ill talk about it in another post if exactly one person wants to
we got a new set of headphones and the audio quality is noticeably better than in our previous pair (which we've had since before I showed up in the system) and an unexpected side effect of this is that our auditory-tactile synaesthesia has been way more noticeable while listening to music through them
