I was rewatching s2 last night, and ohhh man mk looks over mei so much it's not even funny. times mei has been ignored:

maybe you need to really listen! (during the blindfold ep)

mk just? grabs stuff she's using out of her hands all the time? (video game ep)

maybe you shouldn't skip the tutorials? (video game ep again)

the way he addresses her in dumpling destruction and then immediately pushes her aside for tang

i honestly remember it lowkey kinda bothering me on first watch but now it's REALLY egregious on rewatch. are you scared? I'm so scared. do you WANT to end up like shadowpeach MK

2x03 is so rude because the whole fucking episode they're like "MK you don't listen" and it's so true. He doesn't. Pigsy literally points it out again at the end of 4x14 with the whole sun screen bit:

Pigsy: "Tch, don't bother, I've been telling him that for years but he LITERALLY never listens." Sun Wukong: "Yep! That's how we role."

THEY'RE SO FUCKING RUDE. "That's how we role." We. We????? Wukong and MK???? Like WHATEVER. FINE. (("I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no. Wukong doesn't listen to ANYONE! He just does whatever he wants" Like shut up. Shut up!))

MK gets so stuck in his own head ("You're all stuck up in your own head! None of this is your fault!" +1 to the MK ignoring Mei counter from 4x08) and I think that really contributes to his s2 scramble to get more powerful.

LIKE:

MK: "Stop? Now? Never! I just have to try harder. It's just like the Monkey King said! *laughs manically* I just need to get stronger!"

The terrible s2 choices both Wukong and MK make in relation to their friends is just absolutely delicious after 4x11. Like, OH. This has been a lifelong pattern of Wukong's—paranoia is one of his fatal flaws (paired with his terrible communication and self-sacrificial nature), and while he had the power to stop LBD before he still feel's the need to go after the Samadhi Fire to stop her now, and to protect MK.

Hold on look at this parallel that I don't know what to do with:

MK: "Ugh, I can't do it!"

Mei: "It's alright MK—you did it before, you'll do it again!" Sandy: "Yeah! Maybe it's like Monkey King said: the power will come when you need it most!"

I read your post about Pigsy and Sandy's name, and I have a fact that you might find interesting or might already know. Sandy and Pigsy actually have full names in the mandarin chinese dub. Well atleast Sandy does. His is Shā Dàlì (沙大力). MK and Mei call him Big Bro Dàlì (大力哥). For Pigsy, we have his family name Zhū (朱), from the Chef Zhū (朱大廚), which is different from Bājiè's Zhū (豬).

like the score is an essential part of so many of the most iconic parts of the show it adds so much emotion and gravity to the scenes

i used to give my dog, sandy, buspirone twice a day for her anxiety. the vet told me it's like another brand name anxiety drug (don't remember which one) but for dogs. it didn't occur to me that if it works for dogs, it would presumably work for humans, too, right? it does. people are prescribed buspirone. it's a drug for humans that is safe for dogs rather than the other way around. there was a time my sister-in-law was over and she saw sandy's pill bottle on the table, and she said, 'oh, i take this.'

About Macaque's death- it's been raised that in the flashback, we can see what looks like a battlefield around him. Some have even spectacled that the mountain Macaque brings MK to in his debut episode is the same battlefield.

And...when Sandy flashbacks to what seems to be Sha Wukong's memories...what do we see but a battlefield?

I think your thought that there was two battles between Macaque and Wukong, if Wukong did kill Macaque (I believe he didn't), is correct. However, Wukong spared Macaque the first time, probably bc Macaque hadn't done anything too bad to the pilgrims. The second, he didn't...

Because Macaque succeeded in killing the pilgrims.

Let me set up a screenshot conspiracy board real quick:

I swear these are all related (I've mentioned this before somewhere). I don't know how or why, but deep in my heart I want to believe this battle will be touched on.

Now, I don't know if the battle that took place is related to SWK & Macaque's fight or not, and I'm also not positive that there even were 2 fights (I was just throwing stuff out there), but Macaque killing the pilgrims (or more likely just having a hand in their death, "I didn't do this!" "You weren't not involved" anyone?) is definitely something to consider.

Wukong believed he was finally being forced to face death, he believed that the thing he had been running away from for centuries- the thing he was most terrified about- finally showed up in his doorstep. After who knows how many years of being “retired” (aka isolating himself, possibly regretting becoming immortal, spiraling, etc.,), he was made to remember how much he was petrified of the thought of dying.

He spent all of his youth (to say very vaguely and in context as to how old he is) becoming immortal as many times over as possible. He build his legacy off that. But the moment he realized MK was about to sacrifice himself, that he was going to go through with the thing Wukong desperately tried to get him to not do, Sun Wukong chained him down so he could take MK’s place and sacrifice himself.

However, when MK popped off and went anyways, he was now forced to deal with two things at once: 1.) he just watched MK throw himself to his demise, he is so young, and he wanted to teach him so much more, and he’ll never get the chance. 2.) he was about to die. He was going to die scared, and die alone.

In a moment of shear fear and panic, in a moment of his world falling apart right in front of him literally and metaphorically, what did he do?

He reached out to his old best friend. Yeah he played the whole “I hate you ew go away” card, but I think in this moment it was proof that he doesn’t actually hate Macaque, but rather was too scared to admit what he did to his old friend. He was too scared of being rejected by his old friend, of loosing one of two people who understood him.

He was terrified of dying, and the only thing that brought him anything resembling comfort in this moment was having Macaque by his side.

And then Chaos got in between them. Which I find interesting and possibly foreshadowing to what’s to come. But that’s me and my opinion :)

obsessed with the thought that macaque and wukong wanted to hold hands so badly that they needed to wait until the end of the world to do so peacefully. As if everytime they fought they didn’t immediately lock hands.

your laugh was brighter than any flower in that whole damn shop, and your eyes?

and all the boys you had before? college kids, jerks who only cared about frat parties and notches on their belts. they didn’t know the first thing about taking care of someone like you.

but katsuki did. he was older. more patient. rough around the edges, sure — but he knew how to make you feel good, how to take his time and worship you like you deserved.
