unfortunately, the united states of america is a two party system without ranked voting. third parties just don't win, and the polls don't care who your second choice is.

If you find a candidate that's more left than the democratic candidate, the people you might convince to vote for them are almost certainly people who otherwise would have voted democrat. republicans aren't going to switch.

The shortcomings of prestigious universities in the USA (Essay)

The Strawberry Statement

Columbia University is one of the most prestigious universities in the USA. In mid-2024, the anti-Israeli genocide of Palestinians movement was gaining momentum at this university, as well as many other universities in the USA and even universities around the world.

The strike was aimed at moving the governments of each country to make Israel stop the genocide. However, it is difficult to stop Israel, which has deep ties with Western countries, and even in the USA, the national policy is to support Israel, so the genocide continued.

Now, it is amazing that the annual tuition fee at Columbia University is $700,000. (The largest prestigious university in Japan, the University of Tokyo, is $3,000.) It is a university for the children of the rich. Therefore, the anti-genocide movement can be said to be a pastime for high-class idlers who will not have trouble making a living even if they are expelled from university.

The stance of prestigious universities in the USA in accepting international students is also problematic. In Japan's case, they would readily accept the son of a Liberal Democratic Party politician. Columbia University accepted Shinjiro Koizumi, the son of Junichiro Koizumi; Harvard University accepted Taku Eto, the son of Takami Eto; and St. John's University accepted Taro Kono, the son of Yohei Kono. All three of these people are from third-rate Japanese universities and would not normally be able to enter these universities. They accepted these idiots because their parents were powerful politicians. And these three are hereditary LDP politicians and are also influential. In the long run, this is bound to tarnish the reputation of prestigious US universities.

さて、コロンビア大学の年間学費が７０万ドルというのはすごい。（日本最大の名門・東京大学は３千ドルである。）金持ちの子女のための大学なのだ。だから反ジェノサイド運動は、たとえ大学を退学になっても食うに困らぬ高等遊民のお遊びであるとも言える。

USAの名門大学が留学生を受け入れるスタンスも、問題になる。日本の場合なら、自民党議員の息子をほいほい受け入れた。コロンビア大学は小泉純一郎の息子：小泉進次郎を入学させ、ハーバード大学は江藤隆美の息子：江藤拓を、セント・ジョーンズ大学は河野洋平の息子：河野太郎を受け入れた。この３人はいずれも日本の三流大学の出身で、普通ならこれらの大学には入学できない。親が権力のある政治家だから、とこれら馬鹿どもを入学させたのだ。そしてこの３人は、自民党議員を世襲し、さらには有力である。これは長い目で見れば、USA名門大学の名声を落とすことになるのは必定である。

Okay, maybe it's just me, but I can't be the only who's read fanfics where the Akuma class learns Adrien knew Lila was a liar and the only way they say they'll "forgive" him is if he takes Marinette on a date, to be manipulative as fuck, right?

Like, oh you knew this important information that our older friend has said numerous times and didn't say anything?? Even after we made it so obvious we didn't believe the person we knew longer?? We didn't even give her the benefit of the doubt. Because we'd totally believe you, someone we've known for a few months, someone who's a boy (hello misogyny). You gave her advice that she didn't have to take? Advice you didn't force her to follow? Advice she decided to take anyways?? Advice she WILLINGLY took?? You should have said something earlier. Now if you want our trust back, you have to take this girl we know, but you don't know, likes you out on the most romantic (and expensive) date ever. And you have to treat her like royalty. We don't care if you've said your interested in another person/were going to ask someone else out/just got out of a relationship and don't want to get in another one. Take Marinette on a date.

To me that's just so fucking manipulative and uncaring for Adrien's feelings and just a way to make sure Marinette doesn't have to be the one to ask him out.

I'm sorry, but they are not his friends. Who fucking does that?? Who decides that in order to "forgive" someone (which honestly, no, they didn't have the right to. They had no right to "forgive" Adrien when they made it clear who'd they'd be more likely to believe at the time and how they didn't even show that they took what Marinette said to mind) they have to take someone else on a date?? You don't have a choice. You HAVE to take them on a date.
