she leapt behind some trees, seeking coverage between the branches, her wings made for good camouflage if she stood still enough. her tail cradled around herself protectively, her little head craning out from atop the trees to observe the murder drone's actions. a small part of her was regretting not stepping in when the worker drone was at least still moving, perhaps then if this murder drone gave her too much a fight, she'd still have something to eat.

the workers were always far easier to kill than their murderous counterparts, but that meant she'd have to indulge in far more oil. murder drones would satisfy her hunger if only for a little while; but that meant they were harder to kill too. they were too unpredictable. even with her solver which for some reason had no effect on them. she couldn't simply remove their heads from their bodies at the snap of her finger. no. they required a hands on treatment.

snickering into the darkness again, her tails thwacks the tree, causing a great deal of snow to come plummeting down toward the murder drone below. gently leaping closer down to the ground once more; she tosses another rock in her opposite direction, hoping it would lure her away from uzi. the goal was to both piss it off, and expose it's back to her.

she lurks behind a tree, standing on her own two feet; wings have since disappeared yet her tail remains. her visor scans the snow, her solver highlights a screwdriver that was being clutched by a drone corpse. poor idiot probably tried putting up a fight. she's he'll be happy to know it's serving her well now.

🔥 thoughts on anything joever related? i feel like some of the fandom hasn't responded to it well over the past year

Let's see, I've gotten whiplash from how quickly the fandom reaction went from "My parents 😭... love is dead, I'll never listen to Rep or Lover ever again, "to "Joe was a piece of shit who cheated and then gaslighted her into thinking she was being paranoid!! He also looked down on her! He was basically John Mayer 2.0"...... like 1. You don't know these people. These aren't characters that you can just make headcanons about based on what you think happened. Also 2. Literally, the only official statement we got said that they weren't compatible anymore and had grown apart.

Also, I just think all of the joebless jokes are very childish and annoying. I remember seeing a Reddit post where people were calling him jobless for taking the subway... you all have clearly never been to a big city, because everyone knows that in a city as big as London, the subway is like the quickest way to get around town (and celebrities can just be more lowkey in London in comparison to the US).

I don't think there's anything wrong with Taylor writing about her life experiences, but I do hate how the fandom is basically treating TTPD as a tabloid release and how they can't wait to see Joe get dissed... like, did you all forget Blank Space and the circumstances that led to that song being created? Or what Taylor said about paternity tests of her songs during the Rep Era?

Basically, I think the fandom needs to stop keeping tabs of her exes and bringing them up, and idk just apply the songs to their life experiences and favorite characters.

hey jake! how are you?! sending you lots and lots of love! i wanted to send you a cute ask, i was wondering if you could rank for me which songs from debut should have been on the eras setlist? like whichever should have been the top song would be #1, etc. have fun with it! xo

Hey, Jen! I think there were six good contenders for the Debut song on the setlist! In my opinion, any of the following six songs would've been a good pick:

1. Our Song. I mean... it's the most popular song from Debut. It was the biggest hit on Debut, her first #1 on Country Radio (and the first song self-written song by a female artist to go number one on country radio), and it was one of the acoustic songs featured in every version of the tour movie, so like... it should've been there!

2. Tim McGraw. The first song she ever released!! This and Our Song are like the most Eras Tour coded Debut songs! Also, Tim McGraw is like August 1.0 (kinda like how Cold As You is Tolerate It 1.0, but that needs its own post), so it needs more appreciation!

3. Should've Said No. This screams stadium song... also, it's like a universal feeling, so like even if you've never been cheated on or even been in a relationship, you can still scream at this topic of your lungs with as much anger that the person next to you would think you walked in on your significant other having sex with your worst enemy.

4. Picture To Burn. Pretty much the same reasons as Should've Said No. I get why she wouldn't pick it, though (the OG homophobic version)

5. Teardrops On My Guitar. It was her breakout hit, her first song to cross to mainstream radio... I get why it wouldn't be included, though. After all, theme wise, it's similar to You Belong With Me, and you can't have the Eras Tour without YBWM.

6. I'm Only Me When I'm With You. I get why this wouldn't be picked. After all, it was a bonus track, and it was never a single, so a lot of people might not know it, but it's such a banger... also, since she focuses on the more positive and happy light-hearted songs on the Fearless and Speak Now setlists, this would've been a good choice as well!

If I had to pick only one of these for the Debut set, I'd go with Our Song. However, I like the idea of the first three albums having 3 songs each on the setlist, so I'd go with Our Song, Tim McGraw, and Should've Said No for Debut (for Speak Now, I'd go with Enchanted, Sparks Fly or Mine, and Long Live), and the set would be like this:

Then the dancers come out dressed like cowboys, ready to dance to Our Song... meanwhile Taylor rises from under the stage, wearing a sundress + cowboy boots and a guitar... basically something that pays homage to this look:

The sundress has a teal, a green, a blue, and a yellow variant. So, we start with Our Song, go on to Tim McGraw, and end with Should've Said No. Ideally, the Debut set would be between 1989 and the acoustic set (I'm ignoring TTPD because Debut deserved a spot more).

There's this sort of anthropomorphizing that inherently happens in language that really gets me sometimes. I'm still not over the terminology of "gravity assist," the technique where we launch satellites into the orbit of other planets so that we can build momentum via the astounding and literally astronomical strength of their gravitational forces, to "slingshot" them into the direction we need with a speed that we could never, ever, ever create ourselves. I mean, some of these slingshots easily get probes hurtling through space at tens of thousands of miles per hour. Wikipedia has a handy diagram of the Voyager 1 satellite doing such a thing.

"Gravity assist." "Slingshot." Of course, on a very basic and objective level, yes, we are taking advantage of forces generated by outside objects to specifically help in our goals. We're getting help from objects in the same way a river can power a mill. And of course we call it a "slingshot," because the motion is very similar (mentally at least; I can't be sure about the exact physics).

Plus, especially compared to the other sciences, the terminology for astrophysics is like, really straightforward. "Black hole?" Damn yeah it sure is. "Big bang?" It sure was. "Galactic cluster?" Buddy you're never gonna guess what this is. I think it's an effect of the fact that language is generally developed for life on earth and all the strange variances that happen on its surface, that applying it to something as alien and vast as space, general terms tend to suffice very well in a lot more places than, like... idk, botany.

But, like. "Gravity assist." I still can't get the notion out of my head that such language implies us receiving active help from our celestial neighbors. They come to our aid. We are working together. We are assisted. Jupiter and the other planets saw our little messengers coming from its pale blue molecular cousin, and we set up the physics just right, so that they could help us send them out to far stranger places than this, to tell us all about what they find out there.

We are assisted.
