When you consider the aventurine x ratio quest is a clear nod at the movie double indemnity, it’s even more obvious that their bickering is part of aventurine’s plan and they need to pretend they don’t like each other’s company so that Sunday doesn’t think they’re in on it together. Which, makes ratio’s moments of slipping up so much more endearing to me LMAO

Like I was just thinking about their first on-screen back and forth and how ratio calls him a “sigonian thrall” and calls out his branding scar (which lowkey, STRONG start ratio we could have started with an above the belt jab but alright get into the role ig 😭) and aventurine does look hurt for a second, but he catches himself fast and ends up laughing and is like “you’re funny lol so true!”

But then when ratio jabs at him for being sigonian again and asks if the notion “escaped his sigonian upbringing”, aventurine doesn’t laugh and actually claps back and drops the trauma of “well Idk bc i didnt go to school i was busy dealing with my family dying and my country being destroyed so 🤨” and then ratio immediately apologizes LMAO 😭 like it’s so out of character when you’re playing the scene for the first time bc it’s like dude imo the first thing you said was way ruder than that why is this the one you’re apologizing for ?? but I think by him getting defensive that second time, aventurine was tryina be like ‘ok maybe lay off the insults about my race and my enslavement that’s really not something i feel great about lol’ which is why I think it’s sweet ratio would be caught off guard and be like ‘oh oops was that one too far I’m sorry I didn’t mean to actually offend you I was just getting into my role’ 😭 and then correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure ratio doesn’t bring up either topic again for the rest of their interactions, he sticks to his insults about aventurine being a crazed gaudy gambler who talks too much

Ratio has a handful of moments where he breaks character but I think that one is my favorite. Dude is not the best actor but he’s trying his best for his clamorous little peacock huh

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... lol assuming 9 is the kindredest of spirits and 3 is a lost soul, id say a solid 7.

having been the odd one out my entire life i find it hard to connect with others at the level i so very craved, so i learnt to be less me. i can morph myself to cater to the needs and ideals of others still but im tired of doing so, hence why i initially chose a 6, smack down the middle, ready to tip the scales and change accordingly, the way i was way back when.

but rejoice dear reader i have a platonic soulmate for whom id walk to the ends of the earth with and for to see them smile. i settled on 7 because i do believe that there are like minded and hearted souls for us to seek in this life, live out the greatest works of art alongside them, andbe reunited with in the next.

im not an 8 or 9 because im a cynical little gremlin whos seen too much of this world to let my heart yearn and hope and trust as it used to, but thats not to say im not open to the idea of mingling with other life forces out there every now and again.

if theres anything ive learnt is that im not everyones cup of tea. and i dont have to be. and that it doesnt make me any less of a splendid cup of tea just beacuse some like theirs differentlyr or simply prefer coffee altogether. it was quite the epiphany to me once.

I snapped today at work, and by snapped I mean I politely commented on a help desk ticket by summing up an mess of an (type of) issue that's come up for at least the fourth time in the 2+ months I've been managing user accounts, and asked the person responsible to fix it (himself for once) because last time I fixed his mess-up it took me two whole days to work out the details with at least four other colleagues from different departments and I really don't want to do it again. there's other shit that needs doing, I've been working 10+ hour days for most of this week already, so I need to cut down not add on more.

(good thing tho - at least we managed to fix the issue where the dataset of a newer employee got mixed up with another one of the same name and therefore wasn't able to apply for any of the access/accounts she needed. technically not entirely my area but it does impact us not being allowed to create an account for her so I figured I might as well track that issue down. took three days and at least three other people, but hey - it should all work out now. yay for that)

sometimes i feel like i missed out on a lot of "italian-ness" bc we stopped going there on a regular basis when i was 9 and i hardly ever saw that side of the family but then i come across a video on youtube titled "southern italians arguing" and it's just a civil (but lively) discussion about a card game the men were in the middle of playing and i'm getting flashes of what it sounds like when my sicilian dad gets real angry and it reminds me of that one time last year when i was working as an intern at a theater (in austria) and one of my tasks was to feed the actors their lines during rehearsals and one time the lead actor came up to me saying "i'm sorry that i'm always so snappy and impatient when i ask for my lines" and i went "this is nothing?? no offense taken"

or this other time, i can't remember if it was at that theater as well or if it was a different context (still in austria) but one time someone got a little loud with me (bc they were irritable and it didn't have anything to do with me or anything that i'd done) and afterwards those who were witnessing the situation were telling me "you do know you don't have to let yourself be treated like that and that you can tell them off, right?" and i was just there like ".......wait i was getting yelled at just now????"

i'm so used to my sicilian dad (and my half-sicilian brother) getting loud at any random minor inconvenience that it for real didn't even register that this person was "yelling" at me for austrian standards, ESPECIALLY since i knew i hadn't done anything wrong and it was all them and their bad mood at the time. and while i did realize that this person wasn't having the best of times in that moment, the fact that they were getting loud at me just simply didn't register. my brain honest to god just went "ah yes this is a completely Normal volume for this level of bad mood, cool cool" and i just kept chilling while everyone around me went "the audacity?? how could they be so rude to you?? are you okay??"
